Super friendly, my french language is not very strong and at times when they saw me struggling they would talk in English.
This hospital has been wonderful to my mother who is an anglophone. Cannot praise them enough for their professionalism and kindness.
You need to wait like 3 hours to see a doctor
This hospital is a joke full of incompetent people. My triage nurse was apparently in training, after walking him through his diagnostic program myself (click here, press enter...) he eventually gave up and had another nurse walk him through the process. I was left wondering whether it was me or him that was truly concussed. A day later, another, more helpful nurse had to cut open my wounds in order to clean them. Even she could not understand why they were not dressed a day earlier. You're really better off treating yourself with a bottle of vodka and some rags then going to "Hôtel-mon-Dieu".
(Translated) Worst hospital in the world! - You spend hours waiting, - when you go with the doctor, it takes her 2 min to take care of you .. she half listens to what you say to her! - when you are examined nobody puts on protective gloves, they touch the computer, worse your eyes, worse the computer, and then open your mouth ..?!? - No communication from one department to another, - The reception staff are completely incompetent, - they set up unnecessary services, however, automatic doors for people with disabilities or in wheelchairs do not exist !! - the display panels are behind you but there are none in front of you, - worse, you have to be a medium: you wait in a green room but nothing indicates that you have to wait in the second "green" room a little further?!? What is this hospital ???? !!!

Terrible overall. Landed there on a Monday with broken leg and broken shoulder from motorbike accident. I had to wait for 4 days to get surgery and a room. They put me on morphine straight away and produced a rush in my back that is still with me after two weeks. Had to ask for two days, insist again and again and even get angry for someone to call a doctor because the plaster on my leg was so tight is was suffocating my fingers wich I could not feel anymore. Finally, a doctor ordered to cut it up to my ankle and recovered felling after few ours. Some of the staff is extremely rude, I even had to complain officially when I caught one of the attendants calling names and mocking an old Greek lady with Alzheimer. They would not believe me until I showed them the video. They are under-qualified and made continous mistakes using machinery. They had to call supervisors constantly to show them why the machine that feeds the serum into my veins would refuse to do it and BLEEP continuously for two days and nights. My arms and hands are completely purple of the many attempts to install a vein catheter. The bed they put me in was broken. It would not lift me up to eat. They just left the food on a table close to the bed and let me figure out how to eat in horizontal position with a broken shoulder. Never fixed it or changed it. When I finally saw a doctor 3 days after surgery he wanted to kick me out until he realised I had a broken shoulder also. He kicked me out next day anyways. My friends helped me into a taxi and carried me the 22 steps to my flat. Few people were amazing though. A French Nurse and Teacher, a very thin Nurse with lots of knowledge always willing to help and the physiotherapist who showed me how to clim the stairs of my flat on my butt. Overall they were very rude and unprofessional, out of date, zero English, a mix between American Horror Story and a moroccan hospital I was in 97 although the people there were great, just comparing the facility. I'm now at home with 0 movility and 100% more happiness. I still have nightmares every day of that terrible place. M
Bad hospital, bad service. The triage doctor refused to put a drunk girl on electrolytes because "some studies say that is bad". Instead he let her puke her brains out for hours. My friend had to hold a thing for a random girl to puke into while the triage nurses walked by. Incompetent does not come close to describing this hospital. I am disgusted by this lack of adequate care.

THEY LET A GOD DAMN MENTAL PATIENT WALK OUT OF THE HOSPITAL! The family of the patient and I called to get some answers but they didn't tell us a thing. They even told me -a complete stranger- more information about the patient than the family! They always transfer you to random departments and then just hang up on you mind sentence. These people are criminals.

Very practical this hospital
Called the number over the phone and it literally says "service in English, please press 9." I ended up getting a pissed off French man who can't understand me. All I wanted to ask is where to get my stitches removed. Terrible service!!
Currently this place does the covid 19 testing without any appointment. But before reaching here every one needs to register for covid testing in quebec.ca website. They do testing and release the results within hours if you have symptoms..

ABSOLUTELY UNETHICAL this place is horrid and should not be open be aware before you come here that you will be waiting for a minimum of 7 hours. When I arrived there was only approximately 20 people and 5 hours later only 10 have been called. DONT COME HERE
(Translated) I was treated like the president. The staff is very kind. We have to wait but they are overwhelmed. Besides, most of the nurses are sexy, so it's fun to wait. There is kawliss wifi. I went here because I was told the service was fast, additionally it was the closest hospital to my home. I have a recent history of bleeding within my brain. After presenting this and a file full of notes from my neurologist from ontario who urged me to see someone when the symptoms reoccur, I was not taken seriously. After waiting 5 hours, the doctor brought me in, refused to give me a CT even though it was requested by a neurologist, and responded with "Doctors in Ontario are stupid, you're fine". Prior to saying this the doctor took no test, no scans, just refused to help me. After reading briefly my file- on which the first page it notes i am allergic to ibuprofen- the doctor suggested i go home and take either ibuprofen or aspirin (thankfully I have enough of a brain to realize aspirin is a blood thinner, before taking the aspirin he sent me home with). He followed up with insinuating my migraine was nothing more than a hangover. I had refused to leave without seeing a doctor within a speciality, or someone who would help me, so the doctor decided to give me a shot of ibuprofen. When I asked the nurse what it was she told me she doesn't know in english, and continued to inject it in me, even though if she had been able to tell me, I would have told her I cannot because I am allergic. Lastly, the room in which the nurse brought me in was filthy. When I asked for a clean room, as she was about to put a needle in me she ignored me. I would expect dirt in a hospital like this one, but there was a filthy bed in the room with stirrups, a tray of blades, and a pool of someone else's blood. I got discharged from hotel dieu and went immediately to another ER to be treated. Hotel Dieu, I do not know how you're still running between your incompetent staff and the hygiene you present within your hospital. If i could rate less than 1 star I would.
In 2012, I fell on the street and injured my right knee badly. I did not want to go to a hospital but the paramedics insisted and brought me to Hotel Dieu. I was placed in the hospital and waited to see a doctor and to have x-rays done. Then I had to pee but could not walk. They gave me a bed pan and did not remove it for hours until the doctor came to me and I asked her to remove it. I was in there for 8 hours until I had x-rays done. The second time I had to go to the bathroom, I decided to get off the bed and walk with my good leg. I passed orderlies just laughing at me. What a nightmare! The doctor was professional but the staff should all get the COVID-19 virus and die!
(Translated) Nice staff but lots of non-professional nurses, disastrous food, very slow patient service, despite the hospital is new and the rooms are private, very unfortunate, these shortcomings should be corrected by patient care sessions with more empathy and compassion, I am talking about the floor where I was hospitalized for 5 days including my major surgery, or we think that to kick you out despite it being totally inadequate (Original) Personnel gentil mais bcp d'infirmiers non professionnels, bouffe désastreuse, service aux patients très lent , malgré que l'hôpital est neuve et que des chambres soient privées, fort dommage, ces lacunes devraient être corrigées par des séances de soins aux patients avec plus d'empathie et compassion, je parle de l'étage où j'ai été hospitalisé 5 jours incluant ma chirurgie majeure, ou on pense qu'à te mettre dehors malgré que c totalement inadéquat

I am a cancer patient and I must admit that my experience at the CHUM cannot be better. I spoke with different French and English patients on the two occasions, one for treatment and for follow up and all I heard from these are praise about the staff and the medical people. The only little complaint I have heard is about the size of this gigantic hospital, however there are friendly guides at all floor levels who are eager to offer assistance at all time.

If anyone who is taking an ambulance, do ask or get someone to ask whether you will be going to this unprofessional facility, that also discriminate anglophones. This uncaring and rude attitude that nurses and other stuffs carry is unacceptable. The kind of treatment that I've received is disgusting, and how did they even became nurses to serve and care for people. when they treat patients worst than animals. maybe I had the bad luck or the wrong day to go to this hospital, but it is very sad to know that there will be others like me who will go there and experience this kind of treatment. how in the world they can be so rude knowing people are sick and having pain is what i want to know. I think its about time that Quebecois start to treat anglophones better.
If u like to wait thats the best place to be !
(Translated) Ultra modern hospital but shameful customer service! No compassion and listens to patients after triage. More than 7 hours of waiting to see a doctor. Definitely better than the Notre Dame Hospital on Sherbrooke. When I went in for a asthma attack, the Francophone nurses were quite rude at reception. But everyone else took very good care of me and was very thorough.

One of the worst hospitals on this island. Pray you don't get sick and end up here if you are an anglo. First off, I was sent here against my will after being hit by a car (hit ans run) when the paramedics refused to bring me to my hospital (St. Mary's) ,where I was born and where all my doctors are. The Hotel Dieu is completely incompetent and I have no idea how they are still around. Advice from someone who works in health care, PLEASE AVOID THIS HOSPITAL LIKE THE PLAGUE!
Good luck if you speak English

I have treatments here every 2 weeks, same time, same place, same procedure. Twice now the staff hasn't known what they're supposed to do and I've had to explain it to them. In addition, each time I've ended up waiting longer and longer to have my treatment. This week, I've spent 4 hours in a cold waiting room with a plug in my arm watching my day get wasted. Only to find out that they gave my treatment to another patient and forgot to get more.

Unskilled and incompetence at your own risk! A friend cut his hand with a steak knife by accident and the surgeon had zero skills, in fact should not be called one as the operation was an outright dastardly blow. They get hired only because they speak French, which means they can have any job they want; doesn't matter that their skills for the job are AWOL!! All in the name of favoritism...smh...
All the staff here are so nice, even though yes - I'm a shameful anglophone. ER wait time was fairly short too all considered. My attending physicians and technicians were very knowledgeable and helpful. Happy with my experience here.
The doctor who was checking my symptoms and giving me prescriptions was professional. He knew exactly what I needed. However my experience was not 100% happy. First, the workers at the front desk spelled my name wrong on the blue profile card and they didn't want to give me a new one. Second, only a few workers in this hospital speak both English and French, the others speak French only. Third, I waited in the "emergency" waiting area for 8 hours until a doc finally showed up. That was some "golden" 1k dollar experience.
To whom it should concern My deepest gratitude to the fine folks in the " Radiologie " Dept. Sometime last week ( i'm old and don't remember things ) , i was there for a procedure of sorts . Found your people to be efficient , organised , orderly and very PROFESSIONAL in every aspect of their duties . Not only that they were very courteous , open , and answered all and any questions we had for them in my native tongue . this is difficult to find in this day and age in some places in this province , so unfortunate , but we are much better than our friends to our south . My recommendation is for each employee in the Dept. get a $ 5.oo an hour raise , in lieu of that , because of Mr. Barrette , maybe a nice dinner out on the town . If i win the lottery , i'll do it myself , the dinner , not the raise , too many wonderful children and grand - children to care for . Once again , Thank THEM . Thank You Allan Globensky 250 St. Charles rd. Greenfield Park , QC. 450 - 465 - 7787
why would you schedule me for 10 AM if there's no chance of me seeing a doctor for 3 hours? I got stuff to do. I can understand a wait time in ER or a walk-in clinic, but this was an appointment that was scheduled a month ago.

Very bad experience. I came in with a screw stuck in my foot, the nurses gathered to stare and joke about it without providing me with normal health care. I waited 10 hours in the hospital for it to be removed, they did not give me efficient pain killers, they forgot to clean the cut after having removed it ( i had to ask the nurse while she was doing my bandage, whom gave me a lot of attitude!!). The doctor and the nurses were absolutely incompetent! Do not go there for emergencies it will only make your problem worse! Worst hospital I have ever seen!!

(Translated) By far the worst service. No signage in the emergency room (5 hours of waiting after triage on a Tuesday 7 am), the receptionists overwhelmed by the pitiful management of the Emergency service. Once called, you will wait in a small room among the 12 (waiting 2:30) without any attendant or nurse greeting you, talking to you or making you comfortable. You have time to die multiple times. The doctor finally arrives, does not know what you have, you are given an appointment with a specialist 2 weeks later. I think this process may take 35 minutes in another country, OR EVEN ANOTHER PROVINCE. Deplorable, avoid, go to a clinic instead (Original) De loin le pire service.
I was admitted to the ER of the hotel Dieu in the afternoon of Nov. 12th 2015. I would like to express my gratitude to the entire ER and ambulance teams, especially Dr. Ait and nurse Katia who took extraordinary care of me. They have arranged to continue my care at this excellent hospital and I am extremely grateful for their competent, professional and compassionate care. the service received from everyone, from the doctors to the food service employees exceeded all of my expectations. Many many thanks again, Margot Laing

Not professional. They said we will call you in one week to give you an appointment with a specialist and nobody calls. "I don't know" is the only answer you hear from the staff there.
It's the worst hospital ever. Bad service. It takes me more than 9 to 10 hours before there's a sign of a doctor. I actually spent my night here. People are hurts and there's no one to take care of them. People are sitting there, waiting. Between this hours of wait, I saw 2 doctors passing by, didnt care about anything. Taking they're time. It's not normal. They can't even look at us in the eyes. No one speak english here. It's unprofessional. The security here are all pervert. They looking at every women passing in front of them, head to toes. Like seriously.... you guys have to take your carrier more respectful and serious. It doesn't make any sense. There was an elderly person reported by an ambulance at the same time as us, with a condition severe enough to be placed in the emergency room. But no one has occupied it. It's ridiculous.

Awful. Wouldn't entrust them with a cat, let alone a human life
I am an English speaking patient, and I found that the help I received was phenomenal. Everyone was courteous and helpful and I was soon to immediately. Hoping to stay healthy, but a great big Thank You to everyone at the Hospital.

Its a hospital, and an old one at that. The inside is a maze. Parking is usually available around the hospital with park meeters
(Translated) Super modern super hospital. The staff are great at listening to patients. The food is good and the care provided is very well done by the staff (Original) Super hôpital super moderne.
ambulance had taken me to this francophone hospital. nobody speaks english and behaved rudely towards anglophones. The help button to call for a nurse had been disabled despite them telling me it was working and nobody came when my heart rate was over 160. HORRIBLE hospital.
(Translated) The new CHUM just excellent, state-of-the-art technologies, fast service not a lot of waiting time even in emergencies, seriously the property (everything shines), the services, the rooms are almost like those of a high-end hotel lol and it helps when you're sick to be in a good place, you feel pampered. The teams (nurses, doctors, caregivers, reception service, administration, security agents, housekeeping service, ...) are excellent, full of kindness, understanding, sympathy ... always with little care with you. From my point of view, I think it is currently the best hospital in Montreal.

Since a friend of f mine is hospitalized in this institution I have to spend long hours there. I was surprised by the arrogance and poor quality of care the staff provide. I was told buy a African P.A.B. that since I'm there I should be doing her job. Second time I had headache I asked if I can get Tylenol, the answer was.... No, you are not a patient of this hospital. They refused to speak English.... but must of all it surprised me the attitude of immigrant staff. They are carrless, rude, and stupid. Overall. The hotel dieu hospital of Montreal is the worst French institution. Please avoid this hospital if you can
(Translated) We needed to go to the emergency room for my husband and we were very well taken care of, we waited about 1 hour to see the doctor, but he was extraordinary, very kind, very attentive, very competent.
(Translated) Come to make me a cast on the advice of the doctor from the UdeM following my radio, it was 7:30 p.m., it is 7 a.m. I come back from my x-ray which I had to redo because the center did not send the copies ( y) after 12 hours of waiting I may have my much deserved plaster The staff are great when you have spent the first 11 hours and finally talk to a doctor ...
Superb service and care. Second to none care and attention
(Translated) Excellent service. The people are friendly and knowledgeable. So yes there is a lot of waiting but it is a hospital! You necessarily go after the most important cases. (Original) Excellent service.
You’d think by merging so many hospitals together you’d be seen faster....no it’s worst then ever so much money invested in 1 hospital but zero services stop putting money into mafias pocket and start investing in the people that fills your pockets
I had the most wonderful experience at Hotel-Dieu when I had to undergo scary surgery to remove skin cancer off my eyelid. It was local anesthesia and nurses and doctors were absolutely perfect in helping me cope with the fear and scare of being operated right next tomy eyeball. I have only the outmost praise for the work done at this department.
(Translated) I have not been to this hospital yet, but with the reception of the famous male receptionist, May 20 16:54, I do not want to go pant! A huge lack of empathy, kindness, listening, in addition, blame me because I took at the last minute, because of a fault of the staff. Since it's off, I can not talk to anyone, and I have no details for my appointment tomorrow, where I must be fasting and present myself for 8:00, when the reception opens at 7:30. ... When I was called, the person had to contact me for all indications, and never did, but of all appearances, it's my fault !!!! I do not know who you are my dear receptionist at Marde, but the day you will be as sick as me, maybe, that you will have understood what it means the word EMPATHIE !!!!! Pfffffffff
I was discriminated against because I do not speak french and ultimately left and went to the Montreal general. After 4 hours of waiting at the CHUM they they did the same exact test 3 times on me, and sent me back to the waiting room. Each time they do this, they call me to the inscription desk again and ask me yet again for my insurance even though I've given it now 3 times as well. I am supposed to be waiting to see a doctor since I already saw the triage nurse, yet they have me back waiting in the area to see the nurse (and start this cycle of same test, asking for insurance again, being unwilling to answer questions because I don't speak french.
My thanks for their professionalism, kindness and dedication to the staff at the breast cancer centre at Hotel Dieu Hospital. They are exceptionally thorough, and they take their time to explain and answer any questions you may have. Excellent, highly recommended. Thanks also to Dr. Marie-France Desjardins, the radiologist and the ultra sound doctor.
(Translated) We have fun making your condition worse, for what reason .. I thought about the question for a long time but I could not find an answer. I hope that one day the karma will fall on them disappointed. So little advice don't go here for minor aches and pains they will scrape off what little health you have left. And prepare to be stared at by ugly staff both on the outside and inside. I don't know who works in human resources in hospitals, but it's hard. To say that all of this is happening in Quebec is terrible.
Dr. McCormack is an excellent Urologist. My husband is his patient and considers him the very best. We were at CHUM yesterday for my husband's after surgery follow-up and he addressed all our questions and concerns. He takes his time to listen and is really compassionate and highly skilled. Thank you Dr. McCormack and see you again in January.
