I am in complete awe of the entire medical team who took care of me on 10 May 2019. I went in for my first ever surgery - ACL Reconstruction, and I have never been more impressed with all the staff I interacted with. All the nurses were fabulous, thoughtful, and educated me; Dr. Hansen was amazing, patient, and also educated me. It was truly an amazing experience and though I was alone, I did not feel that for a moment. Thank you all for your help and care; you are all truly amazing.
Very grateful to all the staff at BGH last week..Feb 1st when I came in for Surgery. Thanks to Jenn who was the first to great me in the morning upstairs..walked me through everything before my knee Surgery. Thanks to Dr Sim and his wonderful staff in the OR. Everything done was clearly explained to me step by step...u guys made my experience so easy... Especially greatful to 2nd floor nurses...so friendly and helpful.....even when I had a rough night! Lol So thankful❤ Debbie Deyo Manotick Ottawa
Emergency is the worst place out of the hole hospital. Many hours of wait time and even then 50% of the time they say "im not sure whats going on keep an eye on it and if it gets worse come back" But still need more doctors that know what they're doing for sure .
12hr look at cut watt a joke
WiFi is slow. But I am sure patient care is top-notch. :-) I hope it is at least.
Great staff in OB & Front Desk. Have been there multiple times last few months. Staff have been helpful.
Hospital is under a major renovation right now. Wonderful staff & very quick to take care of my needs.
Wait times are way to long, I dat there for almost 7 hours with my toddler when she broke out with an alergic reaction and triage nurse at the time was usless. Plus I know too many people that have sent their loved ones there and they either died or for worse. Only positive thing for me was it has an amazing Maternity ward and would recommend it, plus I haven't heard much complaints about the surgical team there. So I would recommend them too.
This hospital is complete & total BS. Every time I’ve had to visit it’s been a 4 hour wait. I’m currently here now, had an X-ray done 2 hours ago and haven’t heard from anyone. There was a woman sitting beside me with her face bleeding, waiting for stitches for 4 hours & there’s a kid with high fever & vomiting on the floor that hasn’t been taken in. At 11 pm. Nurses here can’t give the kid a bed to sleep in? This is absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself the time even if it’s a longer drive & go elsewhere.
Good
I don't like our hospital here. I wouldn't trust them with my life if it depended on them. It's a hit and miss to get a good doctor. And the privacy and dignity issues big time ! Not impressed. Numerous staph infections going around and not enough flew control.
Called to find out what time my appointment is and they won't return my call till the day after my appointment... no one can tell me anything about the time, I get the run around
Hospital staff were very helpful when a family member had a medical emergency. Emergency room visits can mean hours upon hours of waiting, but this time (due to the nature of the emergency) we were seen immediately and our entire stay was less than one hour. For an evening shift on a weekend, that was amazing. Thank you, BGH staff!
I can't even begin to express my gratitude for the obstetrics and L/D departments at BGH. I gave birth to my son there last week and it was incredible. He was nearly a week past his due date so I was feeling anxious about being induced. Everyone, and I mean everyone we encountered over the course of our stay was absolutely incredible. So supportive, kind, and just hands down the best people you could possibly want to have around while delivering a baby during lockdown. The room we were in was amazing (spacious and clean), the food wasn't bad for hospital food, and the staff were amazing. I truly could not have gotten through it without them. They are all incredible and especially during these trying times I am so grateful to them all!
This is the second time I have been to the BGH as a patient, first for x-rays and now for CT scan. Both times I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, was greeted by a friendly volunteer and instructed what to do and where to wait. The admissions staff were also friendly and told me what would happen next. In both cases my appointments were on time and the staff I dealt with were very friendly and warm, making me feel comfortable and at ease. The radiation technologists that preformed my CT scan today (23/11/18) was very personable and professional. In summary my dealings with the Brockville General Hospital have always left me feeling like I was well looked after by friendly, warm and above all professional staff. Thank-you BGH for your service to the community.
Apparently mental health is not a concern in triage here. I brought someone in asking for help and they left her in the waiting room for hours on a low priority as she slowly felt like a fool and decided to never ask for help again. #bellletstalk. What's the point when the talkers are ignored?
Really, I don't have words to say how I feel , thank you so much, nice nurses and doctors ♥️
Yes, you often have to wait hours if you go into their ER. But once you're in, they are great. I had a stay there for few months six years ago because I had a mental health breakdown, and they were excellent. I also had my gallbladder removed by Dr. Davison, and he was excellent.
The wait time isn't great but it could be worse. A hospital in Ottawa told me the wait time was 8+ hours so I drove home and to BGH, only waited 2-3. The staff were really nice, especially the lady at the registration area. The doctor that I saw was also very nice and thorough.
Girlfriend might have had a heart attack and 12+ other people got called in first. Terrible service.
I would like to thank the ambulance drivers and the emergency room staff they have been extremely helpful and caring while taking care of my ailing mother , always courteous and friendly introducing themselves so we know who is caring for her while waiting for diagnosis.
I wish I could give them a -1 star. Useless hospital. What hospital makes a diabetic with fluctuating sugar levels sit there with no check up no nothing?. Anybody who works there should be ashamed of themselves and should lose there licenses. Disgraceful.
My recent day procedures went much better than a few years ago. The nurses were friendly and actually helped me when I was having a difficult time getting dressed. They do not waste time getting you out of there tho, that's for sure. But all in all, I was impressed THIS time. Can't say the same for their mental health care, definitely majorly lacking in that department which is so unfortunate for those who are in need. Their imaging department usually offers appointments within a reasonable amount of time. The emergency room, well, let's just say I usually drive a bit further and go to Kemptville. I've had a couple good doctors and nurses but many times I haven't been impressed with their social skills or friendliness. When I needed surgery requiring an overnight stay, I asked my doctor to refer me to Kingston.
Arrive about 11pm after being on the road for 4 h heading home I hurt myself. Should have continued driving and put up with the pain instead of wanting I stop here. Tirage nurse didn't even offer any Tylenol or Advil for pain 10/10 on both ankles. Cant even stand to pee!! Hubby goes sees the registration nurse to see the tirage again. 20min still no one. I finally rolled my chair again to see triage cause the pain isn't going away and now it's up to my knee. Again she offered NO MEDS FOR 10/10!!! Had x-ray done since 11h30pm!!! Its 2h30 am and still NO RELIEF!!! Or no results. FYI I was visiting a friend and I have my 5 year old pug in my car in this weather cause I want keep him in the hospital but don't give me my results so I can go home!!!
Busted up my ankle. Sat around for almost 5 hours they gave me some Advil and wrapped it in tensor. Could have done the same and been alot more comfortable at home.
I am not from the area. Had questioned numerous times if going to ER is really emergent, It had end up in my case, it was, not death related, but: Dr offices were closed, there are no clinics in the city, I had to travel early morning for a 3 day business event that I flew in for, and I tried almost all home remedies ( medicine, hot bath, salt and water, ginger and honey) and still was not able to sleep all night. Triage nurse was professional and helpful, given me Tylenol as per calculations of when I have taken it last. The doctor had shown up when I was texting my trip partner that slight change of plans may need to be done somehow. The Doctor that had seen me had gave me a feeling of judgement of some sort and did nothing for me. I had asked for a Rx for antibiotic, as I was afraid I may have an infection due to not improving , I would have wished some swabs to be done as well. I was the one who felt the PAIN and swelling and he said he saw nothing and there was nothing he can do for me. And refused to ice me Rx for antibiotic. That is my request and a reasonable one. I was well aware that this is an ER and I had an explanation. What happened to patient best care I have no idea. I left in tears, felt ashamed I came over and felt that as a patient I was not believed. This Dr. Knows exactly who he is. I end up going to pharmacy and asked for recomendación of best medicine to help me at least to rest. It did help. I end up missing half a day of my business event, sleeping as much as I could have. I recovered a week later. Now, it ends up that I need to see EENT due to abnormal amount of gland stones that I keep accumulating, and sometimes it affects my throat. The point is, I was disappointed with the judgement, for not apparent reason thus lesser care and It is a lesson for my own purposes, a great reminder of what or who a patient is, we have no idea - all we know they are there because they feel that they are at their worst, ( not all, but majority)so please treat them how you want to be treated.
wouldn't use this hospital the staff are rude and they diagnosed lung cancer as pneumonia two days later the lady died. Same as a collapsed lung that was undetected for 2 years what they were told was that they were too fat lose weight....if you have a choice go to another hospital
Slow and somewhat rude. Nothing new for the BGH
My Grandmother Was In The Hospital For Two Weeks Know one Changed Her Bedding Know One Bathed Her It Was Quite Sickening The Nurses At BGH Are Rude And Curse And Swear, Tell The Patients To Shut Up
Awful experience.
Work work work
After initial triage difficulties, I was told to return to ER when test results came in. Was admitted and have received excellent care from then on. Nursing care is exemplary.
Everything there is awesome but it takes like 3 hours to actually get in but I still like them
Had shoulder surgery in 2014. Drove from Ottawa because of the wait times and the surgery was performed by Dr Hansen. Excellent doctor and superb staff! Such a laid back hospital which removes all the tension & apprehension of having surgery. It's now 2019. In June/2018 I had to have surgery on my 2nd shoulder. Same doctor with the same good experience. I'm glad that I only have two shoulders.
I hurt my hip I’ve been waiting for over 5 hours and I still have not seen a doctor the staff is just rude never want to come to this hospital again
I had take my son for stiches in hand waited way to long same lame excuse we only have one Dr on as well security guard tells me turn my phone and TV was louder than my phone I guess they couldn't hear TV two of them sitting in little office over 3 hrs and counting I know it's not the staff it is how the board runs it they have a lot to learn about effectiveness that it for know
Terrible service. Waited for 4+ hours just to see a doctor and nothing. When we notified a staff member that my girlfriend started feeling worse, there was nothing done and no concern whatsoever. Anyone would be better off driving to the Kemptville clinic. Don't bother coming here.
I was taking to Emergency room at the Hospital with an infection on Saturday, I received unbelievable care from Dr. Ebert, nurses Beth, Kelly & Ben. I spent around 6-7 hours in the Hospital and noted the amazing team work hard to ensure everyone where cared for. The only draw back was to see the mental health situation they have to deal with as it is sad the position they are put into save people's lives only to be yelled/ degraded by the patients that have overdosed. In my stay numerous Police were present also. Our Government must stop/ help the mental health situation before we loose good Doctor's & nures from burnouts as this is their chosen profession.
Influenced me not to pursue a career in medicine.
For three years, since moving to Prescott, with my husband, I have had to deal with various areas of BGH. My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's and, developed his first UTI which, took him to the Emergency room. In the beginning, we were treated with respect and courtesy. However, three years, since have shown the worst side, unfortunately, of some members of the ER staff. We don't mind the wait times but, when the first faces you see, on a visit make you feel uncomfortable and, you are only there to take up space, waste their time, what comes next. Doctor's like Dr. Ross, Dr. Wells need to put aside time to get a course on manners, patience, respect and class. Just because a vulnerable patient cannot speak for themselves is it considered acceptable to have to endure the verbal onslaught, from these two doctors, directed at his family. Why are these individuals, the rarity, allowed to continue to practice in our community hospitals. We depend on them and, we fund them. What is the matter with doctors that don't present a good bed-side approach. When we, the community, turn to our hospitals, it is not for a vacation. We are scared, worried and, in need of compassion. If you can resort to yelling and talking down to family members, because you are out of control, tell us and we will leave and, refrain from returning. Instead of spending valuable funds on everything under the sun, why not read your negative reviews and make changes. Your reputation was tarnished, before we even heard of BGH. People, in conversations, about your hospital don't sing your praises. Instead, the talk is about their negative experiences. This is where the emphasis should be. Change your image. In conclusion, kudos to all the staff, not mentioned by name, in ER and to all that have taken such good care of my husband, on the 1st and 2nd floor. Heather Watson-Jacobs
Had an amazing experience @ Brockville General this morning. Triage nurse was excellent as were the ER nurses, X-ray tech was really good also & a wonderful ER Doctor.Dr Drew Knight was excellent treated me with respect
Worst hospital in Ontario dirty I'm sitting with a broken foot and not even a Tylenol barberic
Dr. Kerry Howatt was a blessing as an obstetrician. She's always very friendly and clearly enjoys her job! I had complications with my pregnancy and she was on top of everything, and listened to every concern. Around 32 weeks pregnant, I was rushed to emergency for a ton of back and chest pain, they took me right up to maternity where Dr. LeRiche confirmed that I had gallstones. They immediately checked my baby, gave me pain medication and kept me over night. They acknowledged when I needed further help and transfered me to KGH where I was discharged one week later. I had AMAZING care at BGH & Support and I'm so grateful I got to give birth to my son here :)
Wow! I had to unexpectedly go to this hospital while driving through Brockville and I have to say that from the moment I arrived I was treated so well. The emergency staff took great care of me as did the wonderful people in the maternity ward! (That's where they had room for me - not pregnat) I would meet the next person, dr, and surgeon so they would fill me in on the next steps all while being given amazing care and comfort by the nurses. Everything thing went very well and I sincerely thank all of you. You are amazing.
I was in for day surgery for my knee on June 2. They were exceptional. Dr. Mussett is the best. The pre-op and post-op nurses were exceptional as well. It was a great experience you couldn't ask for better care. Thanks to all from an appreciative Bill Cook All the best to your.
Had a tough time in L&D after having my baby. The nurses were fine, but Dr. Burkhardt (if that's how you spell her name) is completely inappropriate and has a foul bedside manner. My baby had bad jaundice. Not only did I get incorrect information relayed to me regarding just how bad her jaundice was, but Dr. Burkhardt SOMEHOW thought it was acceptable to address me directly about how hilarious it was that my daughter's yellow onesie matched her (yellow) jaundiced skin. I spent days in the hospital postpartum, hysterical and crying almost constantly because of the stress of being left out of the loop on my daughter and how she was doing, Burkhardt knew this. I don't know if she chose to be foul to me specifically just for the fun of it, or if it was just a 'bad day', but I would love to know how she thought it was EVER acceptable to start having a laugh over a sick baby's appearance due to their condition. Absolutely disgusting.
Inconsistent & Not thorough with patients aftercare. Husband was told someone would contact him to arrange for a nurse to visit to change his dressings on his burns (we live an hour from the hospital). No one called. We contact hospital they tell us to come to the hospital emerge and someone will change them. We get there go through the whole triage process again and wait 2 hours in emerge to change his dressings. Brutal.
Surgical crew scrubing theater whilst I wait in hall. Overnight care was an absolute shitshow of unruly pacients, fecies and silverfish in washroom, inedable food......ugh. However worth the suffering to be treated by top notch surgeons. Brockville has serious issues and I hope my surgeon can work in a far more appropriate facility in future, more respectful of his talent.
If I could I would give a half star take the time and just go to Kingston you will be there and back before anyone even noticed you at the brockville hospital. Terrible hospital recent funding should have been better used elsewhere.
not a very good hospital.
Helpful at some point but a lot of disbelief when I wanted to know if I was still alright and not affected by C19. Immunized sort of speak.
Very disappointed with labor and delivery. Upon arrival I was forced to labour on my back and upon my babies arrival they took advantage of the state I was in and took her off of me before we could have enough skin to skin time for shots that couldve been administered later. The next day a nurse forced my baby to latch which has lead to alot of problems breastfeeding. I'm never having a baby here again and you shouldn't either!
The worst hospital in Ontario. Doctors.do nothing to help and finally went Kingston General and there discover what was wrong me. Took xrays and discover a broken bone and the Brockville said nothing wrong me and did not even do an xray to check. Sent me home
Bad hospital go somewhere else.
Gotta love buying a chocolate bar from the vending machine by the emergency doors and getting a 4 month expired chocolate bar that’s gone white with oxidation
First time here but the staff is amazing. Thanks Brockville Hospital !!! Hearing some of the complainers here I feel bad for the staff. They have to put up with a lot.
Long waits, doctors rude, care horrible! People that workedthere go to another hospital what does that tell you?
It's ok...emergency wait times are known to be long...well set up but lacking staff
The nursing staff are a little run off their feet but nursing care was the best. House keeping is so understaff but was helpful and did there job well.
Instead of receiving antibiotics, the reason I went in in the first place. The doctor did nothing at all and told me just to wash it with antibacterial soap. Now the infection is all the way up my arm and I'm in exscusating pain. I work with my hands and that doctors negligence has now possibly cost me a month's pay and 2 days of my life because in sitting in SF emerg were hopefully I get taking seriously
Best Support Ive Gotten When Ive Went To This Hospital :) Delivery Wise For Babies And Also For Self Problems. Overall Best Place Instead Of Kingston And Other Hospitals
I would like to take this time to thank the ambulance drivers emergency room staff and the doctors for their top notch treatment given to my 10 month old granddaughter this past weekend. Your kindness and caring approach you had with our whole family after a traumatic experience. You were so attentive to our precious girl and helped us through a tough experience. She is doing well and was playing outside today . I have to say you are all amazing people. Thank you again
Emergency under staffed, ridiculous wait times. Maybe if they spent less money on making the place look useful and more money on staff, it could be a good hospital.
Yesterday(April 10th) I had an appointment for an ultra sound. The young lady who did my ultra sound (Nicole) was kind, understanding and very patient, taking the time to explain everything to me.She is definitely an asset to Brockville General and I was blessed to have her doing my ultra sound. Many, many thanks Nicole.
Thank you to the Doctor and Nurses and Psws for making my husbands visit there a safe one during these trying times..Stay safe everyone.
Excellent service. So glad we have this facility in Brockville, which is only going to get better!
Triage nurses are insensitive, rude not helpful. The doctors take forever to write a prescription and the wait times are ridiculous. They don’t take mental health seriously at all.
I HAD KIDNEY STONE REMOVAL BY DR. FUOCCO AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY PLEASANT AND SUCCESSFUL. 3 DAYS LATER HAD STENT REMOVED AND I WAS TERRIFIED..BUT IT TOO WENT INCREDIBLY WELL. I HAD 3 BOUTS OF KIDNEY SPASMS AFTER THAT WERE TERRIBLE PAIN BUT I DEALT WITH IT......THE STAFF AND EVERYONE WORKING WITH MICHEAL FUOCCO WERE FABULOUS AND IM RECOVERING VERY WELL....JUST LETTING OTHER MEN KNOW THAT THE TUBE UP YOUR PRIVATE PARTS ISNT AS BAD AS IT SOUNDS DON DARLING
This hospital desperately needs attention in their emergency department. Last week I brought my husband to the Emergency Department 3 days post hip surgery due to the severe swelling of his leg and I was terrified that he may have had a blood clot after my husband's step mother (also a nurse) had visited our home after my desperate call to take a look at his leg . She recommended that given how hot and hard his leg was that we immediately go to the emergency. The Emergency Waiting Area had just been renovated resulting in he waiting area being dramatically reduced to allow for a new triage reception area maned by one intake nurse and a second area where the patient moves to from the triage nurse to a second person that takes the personal info and health card info. The old triage reception area is still in existence however not in use and takes up valuable potential usable space. The area was extremely crowded when we arrived and so confusing as to what to do next. I approached the second patient intake information desk and explained how concerned I was about my husband and the triage nurse from the other area rudely interrupted and said we would have to get in line and wait and waved at all the people that were ahead of us and too bad. I was shocked at the level of concern and all the triage chairs were occupied and I had to ask from the people waiting where the line started. There wasn't even a numbering system. People were arguing who was next and it was such an unbelievable situation I thought I was in a third world country. This couldn't possibly be our health care system in Canada. My husband waited for 2.5 hours before being taken into an area to have a Dopler Test done to see if he had a blood clot and in the mean time I had to rush home to get his timed morphine meds for the pain. He was in so much pain it was heart wrenching and the nurses were so rude and oblivious to the different levels of care that may be needed by those waiting. After returning from getting the additional pain meds two police officers were now on the waiting area with a prisoner. I thought this couldn't get any worse. After waiting another hour I approached the patient information desk and asked if we could please go home and can they call and let us know the results of the test as my husband could not bear sitting anymore. The nurse said we couldn't leave but would check, when she returned she said we could go and they would call our family doctor with the results. I couldn't believe it. What if the doctors office was closed by the time they had someone available to read the test. The whole experience was terrifying and it felt like we were in a hospital on a battle field. Our Health Care is a shame and for those Americans that think we have free health care in Canada should know we have no health care. I understand that the emergency problems at the Brockville General is as a result of the closure of another facility that took in mental health patients. On that day I found out that emergency beds were occupied by 3 mental health patients that previously were looked after in another facility. The Province has to do something to help this town. There is not enough hospital personal to handle the overload now, and it is no wonder that the staff is rude and desensitized ...they are so over worked,.. this is just short of criminal. One day there will be deaths as a result of this present day system and huge lawsuits may ensue. Please share this with those that will listen. I am not from this community and I have just moved here in March 2018. Rita Harper
