My husband was taken to emergency by fabulous EMTs The treatment he got was first class the doctors and nurses are rushed of their feet and still manage to treat everyone with Respect thank you T
Dont even waste your time with BGH, In personal experiences waits average about 6hrs (Includes Triage and See And Treat) and once someone finally does come to see you the care is ok at best, Would recommend just going to a different hospital like, Joseph Brant in Hamilton, West Haldimand in Hagersville or Cambridge Memorial
I will make sure I die before I come back here for help and that's a promise even if I'm dying and if I am depressed I'll make sure my next suicide attempt works just so I don't have to go back the worst mental health staff and emergency room staff ever . Please go to Norfolk or hagersville especially for emergency situations you'll be treated with actual respect and they'll make sure you're OK and have someone come to sit with you .
i've gone to the ER twice now because theres something wrong with my stomach and it might be cancer and they made me wait for hours and a nurse told me that i "look healthy" so they're not going to do any tests or anything. and she said that if i'm walking and i can talk then i am fine. so basically i have to wait til i'm going to die and then MAYBE they'll do something. worst hospital ive ever been to.
Just spent 3 nights and days there. Can't say enough good about emergency icu staff. Special shout out to Akeem Aiken. Only one night on cardiac floor but staff also very good. All staff grossly overworked. Hospital way over capacity as witnessed by halls full of people on stretchers. And the facility is too old and shoddy. Staff is amazing to cope at all in conditions they have no control over.
This hospital is well known to giving preferential treatment to people of European ancestry. Ask anyone on Six Nay or any South Asian person in town and you’ll quickly learn about the horror stories. They have gotten better over the years, but some of the staff still have that lingering difference in how they treat people. You go to a hospital usually at your lowest, and they make you feel worse. I strongly suggest all staff should be given anti bias training.
Went in last night with my teenage daughter who had broken out in an inexplicable rash. Danielle, the Physician's Assistant who treated her was sincere and genuine. Absolutely wonderful! The nurses were also very helpful. Unfortunately, I didn't catch any of their names otherwise I would acknowledge them now. Just grateful for the care my daughter received. Thank you.
If you have in patients and dialysis patients it would probably be a good idea to have wifi that works. Your wifi has to be the worst. As a dialysis patient, im often left staring at the wall during my 3 HOUR treatment. So not only are your wait times in emerg an absolute atrocity, but now you're in patient services are a joke as well. The WORST hpspital I've ever had to go to. I honestly wish I stayed in hamilton. Fix. Your. Wifi. Jesus.
This hospital is a joke ten hours in the waiting room.
Help I haven't eaten in days
My father had excellent care from all staff! They were all working very hard and doing their very best. All treated my Dad with care and respect.
Had 2nd mammogram today Becky was amazing!! Thank you for a great experience knowing how nervous I was
Just had a hip replacement surgery on Wednesday and discharged on Thursday. Every staff person I met in there were friendly, courteous and very obliging. From the screening staff to the cleaners, nurses and doctors everyone was very helpful
I went to BGH for a routine xray. DWing looks like a war zone with plastic sheets, desolate setting, etc. but my welcome was warm and efficient. They are taking every precaution known. Process was efficient, staff so very friendly. They are even taking on new volunteers! Parking is easy, pay machine moved to new exit which is very close. Hopefully the setting gets back to 'normal' soon. Overall pleasantly surprised by experience.
My little girl had to wait 3 hours with a broken arm .... This is not acceptable at all !! Ever for anyone or child to wait that long with a broken arm!!! Today was not a busy day there was a total of 7 people in wait rooms even in the examination rooms there was one other person !!! The lady at the front desk is absolutely not with it ... slower than the second coming ...you get paid well to do your job so do it ??!!!! Stop taking your sweet time because that neglecting your patients !!! Wake up!!!!
There is no management at all. Trust me, if you’re treated to be well and good please don’t come here. Zero management, I have been waiting since last 8 hours still not sure when I will get a doctor.
Every time I have come here I’ve always had an unpleasant check in, I find the emergency triage staff bullish and cold. I’ve once left the ER because the nurse made me feel unwelcome. I’m actually here again at the ER this moment and same experience. No hospitality or common courtesy.
10 hours later - still waiting to see doctor in ER. Normal wait time in this ER is 10-12 hours minimum. Triage Nurses are very rude and verbally abusive (yelling) at patients waiting to see doctor. Absolutely unacceptable.
So slow your newborn baby gonna come out 2 years old. Don't realize when somebody needs a wheelchair on the way in and for some reason can't even give someone an advil for a dislocated shoulder within 3.5 hours I'll adjust my review when a doctor actually gets to my girlfriend Edit: the doctors were great, the triage nurse not so much, but they were very busy. Once she was treated (or near to bring treated) things got better . Total 6 hours
Awful experience here, felt as if everyone was out of place. No real process intaking patients. Never again
I have attended for several procedures during pandemic. It is run smoothly and efficiently and I have felt safe on every occasion.
I visited the imaging department for a CT scan. The technician who performed the scan was named Reid (apologies if I haven't spelled that right). He was very personable and professional, and had a calming presence. I'd had minor anxiety as this was my first procedure of the sort, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Reid walked me through the process, and was quick and efficient. He explained afterward that I could expect follow-up from my doctors on the results of the imaging, and I quite enjoyed our interaction. It's very reassuring to know that despite all that medical professionals cope with in the workplace, there are still those who choose to provide care in a respectful, courteous, and compassionate manner. Thank you!
Turn your clocks back to 1942. Unvaccinated equals fired! Sicking to see what really is going on.
Getting better, it's just the odd few you know, it seems as if your interrupting their beauty sleep or them watching a good movie or something, maybe I just attract all kinds. See for yourself, that's all I can say.
I had a great experience in the service at the Hospital in the Maternity sector on the 3rd floor and in Pediatrics on the 4th floor, the staff were super attentive and receptive, friendly and very professional. Excellent service, great structure, very clean and well organized, the administration is congratulated! Highly qualified professionals to perform their duties! CONGRATULATIONS to everyone in the Maternity and Pediatrics Sector!
Went to the Emergency room next day after a surgery because I was having pain and peeing blood. I was told not to drink or eat anything until a doctor says so. I was seen after almost 4 and half hours and only after I started voicing my indignation. After 4 and half hours I was dehidrated - mind the surgery was kidney related that require regular hidration. The whole experience was ridiculous co sidering all the priding posters about the "20 min wait, only".
The hospital and our health care system is an embarrassment. 1 doctor for the emergency room. 10 hours wait time increasing chances of contracting everything else.
The ER staff is incredible. Everybody was very kind, helpful, knew exactly what they were doing and looked like that actually really liked their job. Honestly i am beyond impressed on how well my day went while i was there. I walked out of the hospital feeling better about myself :). I wish the ER staff all the best! and Thank you!
If you have the option, go to a different hospital. I went their for possible heart pain, in need of an ECG. I had a letter from another doctor because where I was having chest pain was where my heart is. It was Sunday so nothing was open, so he wanted me to get checked that day, and had me go to the hospital. First, at the intake, the nurse wouldn't listen that it was the heart pain, it had been coming and going since I had woken up that day. The nurse just repeated "but what is bothering you this minute", so I wasn't sure to say, at the time I did have a cough so I said my chest. They refused to give me the ECG. The doctor gave me the option to do blood work instead, which he strongly discouraged, but he was so sure that it wasn't my heart, that he would look at it when he got home from work. He checked me out like I was a drug addict, checked for needle marks and sent me on my way. The doctor who had sent me there as so shocked that was how they treated me.
Good this time
3 different times now I've waited so long at this horrible place, I've just walked out. Wouldn't ever return to this hospital, and its no wonder individuals don't want to seek out help, wait 4-5 hours. Rather be dead then have to return here, 100%.
I had hernia surgery here yesterday and could not say enough good things about this Hospital the doctors the nurses the staff everybody went above and beyond to make sure I get the best care possible my surgery was scheduled for 1:45 I was on the operating table and being put to sleep by noon and was home and in my own bed by 4 that day. I see a lot of the bad reviews on here or about waiting times at the emergency room that's what's going to happen it's the emergency room some days are busier than others expecting to wait six hours is not that big of a stretch (it used to be worse) and if you had life-threatening issues you wouldn't be waiting that long. Other people are allowed to have their opinions and post their reviews I would just like to give the information as honestly and transparent as possible I have no grudges and I honestly say you would be in the best hands if you go to this hospital.
My dad was intubated on ventilation here for over a month. He was released from disgusting Brampton civic hospital saying nothing was wrong with him, but he was actually positive for covid had a stroke and needed ventilator which he was on for over a month. They are all amazing and very very kind hearted here at this hospital. ICU nurses are true super heroes, Justina, and I cannot remember all of their names but without them my dad wouldn’t be alive. Amazing amazing and thank you all. True heroes of our country, I can’t type everything here but we are forever grateful for you guys! God bless and may you all have an amazing prosperous life!
Its sad. Really sad. The level of quality, service and support here is truly abysmal. A testament to the administrative failures of this hospital and the governments failure to health care. Nothing else to say here.
I saw Dr. Andrea Unger on an overnight for severe eye pain. I could truly feel her compassion and drive to figure out the source of the pain. Sent me home to await results and she even called me when she got up after her night shift to tell me my results because I didn't have a family doctor at the time. Went above and beyond, best ER doctor I have ever seen!
I had surgery on my broken arm in May. It was a complicated fracture and I was quite concerned. Surgery went well. I received excellent care from Dr. Niroopan and his team. It's been a trying time however I couldn't ask for better treatment than I've received from Brantford General Hospital.
Labour and delivery staff is amazing. They take good care of me and my baby. Nurses are so good. Room and washroom are clean.
Even when the place is empty waiting times are ridiculous
This is the Worse hospital next to a third world country hospital going, my father went here complain of chest pain , they sent him home , he died the very next day!!! You can look up T. Webb. My mother didn't sue the hospital because his mother was working there how embarassing is that? Also when I was in the hospital I saw a patient best another and the nurses just stood there and did Nothing !! Shame on you! The dad story was 30 sum years ago but I'm sure there are Current stories like mine, if someone is complaing of chest pains Take them seriously, I have no dad thanks to you!!
My experiences at the BGH have been very positive, everyone is courteous and friendly. The hospital is very clean. A very special shout-out and thank you to the ladies in the MRI suite. I have had to undergo several MRI's recently and the staff here are wonderful, kind and patient which has made the experience so much better. Thank you to all the hard working health care heros at the BGH.
I've had to go here a few times and have been treated really well and received great care. I like that their emergency department has a see & treat area that is like a cross between a walk-in and emergency room. The doctor that saw my husband for a serious infection made sure he got the proper medication dosage (he was given improper dosage at another hospital) I also recently gave birth there and the staff were really nice. I didn't see the doctors too often as it was really busy but when my labour started to have complications they didn't hesitate to get me to the OR right away. And the food during my stay was really good!
Doctors, Nurses and staff were great but its obvious they were short staffed. That said the ER volume was nuts and as a patient saw first hand how staff dealt with "difficult" individuals professionally.
6 hours Waiting to see a doctor. Could have give you 0 star. Worst experience. I left without checkup.
Denying medical care and MRI's to people who aren't fully vaccinated... Absolutely despicable. There are no words for how messed up that is.
Honestly went in this past Friday 1am, the triage nurse was very slow for only three people in there. However thankfully I was sent up to L&D. These reviews are soo funny. If you can wait 6/7/8+ hours to be seen then clearly it isn’t an emergency. Stop backing up the hospital and go see your regular doctor. The Triage Nurse does not just put you in queue the way you come in the door, everyone is seen according to the need of their issue, and if it gets worse they have it posted to let the triage nurse know.
My recent experience in Emergency Care followed by Hospital admittance exceeded my expectations. My medical needs were rapidly assessed and my in hospital medical care was tremendous. I feel very fortunate to have had such great medical care. Special thanks to Dr. Jill and the ER team, Pam and the C5 team, Dr. Dickson and Dr. Ajayi.
I went to the Fracture Clinic for my left wrist. I saw two Orthopedic Surgeons. The first was Dr. Hickey. He told me I needed surgery. The second is Dr. Niroopan who did my surgery. They are both excellent.
We really appreciate what the emergency department Doctors and Nurses did for our daughter last night. They were kind and efficient and my daughter isn’t scared of the hospital anymore after being treated so kindly. Thank you for all you do everyday to take care of those in need.
I wanted a home birth, but had to deliver at the hospital. I was very nervous, but I had such an amazing experience giving birth at Brantford Hospital!! I’m so thankful! Each nurse/person involved was amazing and kind. Loved it
My surgeon Dr Niroopan did a super job on operating and repairing my broken femur bone! I was nervous before surgery and he talked to me just before. He calmed me down and reassured me. He was so great calling my family after surgery and he was there for me after surgery. Following up in person and on phone. I cant say enough about this awesome Dr.. Thank you for what you do and for caring for your patients.
I went into the ER complaining of abdominal pain and distention. The staff were all so nice, despite the ER being busy. I was met by a doctor who introduced himself as Tony. He joked with me and made me feel better. They got me down for an ultrasound, and the tech was very sweet. When my results came back, it turned out I had a large ovarian cyst. Tony discreetly told me, and they gave me a private room to process this and even allowed my fiancee in. I met with the gynecological team, consisting of Dr. Bates and a student. They reassured me and gave me all the information I needed. I went back for a CT scan, which was very quick and efficient. Overall my experience there was very good. The staff kept on high spirits, they were sympathetic and kind.
I have never been in hospital for myself before. Just spent three weeks at the General starting in emergency and then being transferred to the fifth floor. Absolutely everyone who looked after me was wonderful, caring and patient and astonishingly professional. I cant thank them enough. Covid definitely adds an additional challenge to the nursing responsibilities as do difficult patients, and everyone dealt with these challenges so gracefully! Thank you All!
I needed emergency care for renal failure. The staff and care were excellent. The testing and treatment were done under the supervision of the internist and kidney specialists which got to the root cause which is pretty ideal. The front line nurses and aides performed professionally. There was a lot of work done on my meds to alleviate the problem. I highly recommend this hospital.
Waiting on MRI on new years eve 930pm for months.Staff was incompetent. Did not notify myself of date change. Lied about notifying my doctor who ensured me they would have contacted myself directly. Called to be put on cancellation list and had female staff member "melanie" react very aggressively . My family overheard conversation. Needless to say they did not appreciate the way "healthcare professionals" are handling patients. Not as much as an apology was given. Recommend trying other hospitals if you are ill, or immobile as the staff is incompetent and verbally abusive.
Went in with chest pains. They sat me in the waiting room for 4 and a half hours. Before anybody else spoke to me. They did however treat someone with a sore foot who came in 2 hours after me. I loath this hospital, it's as if every incompetent person in health care was sent to this hospital. Take the extra time and drive yourself to Hamilton or cambridge.
My dad took a fall at his long term care home on Sunday and was taken by ambulance to BGH. We are new to the Brantford area and this was my first time to this hospital! Since my dad has Alzheimer’s I was allowed to be with him so I was able to see first hand how he was cared for. I was very pleased with the care in emergency from triage, X-ray, transport and especially the special doctors and nurses that provided so much care. Thank you all and appreciate this so much more during this covid 19 time!!
My sister passed away in this hospital a week or so ago. My brother-in-law was given the "belongings" of another person, not my sisters. The hospital, after many follow up telephone calls has not located my sister's belongings. They advise there is nothing more that can be done. Brantford Police have been contacted. A formal complaint will be lodged against this hospital. Imagine losing a loved one, non-Covid, in this environment. The hospital administrator should be ASHAMED. I believe her belongings to be stolen. Every effort will be taken to shame this hospital in social media platforms.
If they like you you'll get through fine. If not good luck. I had to click at least one star.
I had nothing but a wonderful experience at the Brantford hospital when I was there for day surgery. Every nurse and doctor that took care of me were kind, compassionate and professional. I especially commend my surgeon, Dr. Ololabi and nurses Stephanie, Manquela, and Alex. A special thank you to Alex - he was so kind and gentle with me. An overall great experience.
