Why does a patient in emergency has to wait for 4 hours + just to consult. I appreciate the free health care system but it needs to looked after again . Why do they take this much time . Do they only have 1 or 2 doctors around for a bigger hospitals like this. Canada dont be proud of this health care system, it just exists their for the sake of its existence. I dont know if it's like in every health centers around Canada. Please react to this. I am coming from a place where there is no free health care but hey you only need to pay .09 $ to visit . Thank you
Very fast efficient and professional personal care.
Honestly, I wouldn't put anyone in this hospital or the Trenton one. Their food is always so yucky and boring.
Could not see ph number
Long wait but good helpful staff and very good doctors at least the ones I talked with.
Worse hospital out there took my father there once when he was having a stroke and waited hour then left because never got any help even told the er that he was Haveing a stroke and said wait our turn when there was only 2 people there
Inept mismanagement has killed my grandfather. They have literally starved him to death. My dad came in, never cleaned a cut on his elbow (as in, peeled all the skin back and it was full of mud) after two days. Go anywhere else but here if you have a choice.
Sad slow paced joint ..... sat there for over 2 hours just to be told I could be waiting up to 8 hours Even though there was only 3 people waiting to see a doctor... Next time I will go to Trenton or napanee or Kingston they seem to have better service
I just want to say to all of the doctors, and nurses in this hospital that with this extremely exhausting pandemic we're in. I just want to say that I truly appreciate you all, for saving lives, and that you all are doing a wonderful job with your hard work! Hang in there. Hope you have a safe and peaceful Christmas holidays.
I went here with my friend last week firstly we had to wait like for 6 hours just for checkup and then the doctor told us to come again for ultrasound And we reached there at 10am in the morning and I don’t know why it took 7-8 hours for just an ultrasound even though the there was no any other patient worst experience.
This hospital has things all muddled up. I came in from Trenton already triaged. I waited for 3 hours to see the surgeon who knew I was coming. The Nurse made me walk very far back into a room. (I had severe pain) it was getting difficult to walk. But the Nurse didn't seem to care. The surgeon on call said that she could not do surgery I me.and that I would be put on the list tomorrow. I waited for over 12 hrs without food or water and after having a breakdown they fit me in at 10pm. Finally got my gallbladder removed. Not even 12 hrs after my surgery a Dr. Came to my bedside and with folded arms told me that I had to go home. No care package, no instructions just a pamphlet on Opioids.I felt so awful. The next morning I had to go to ambulance to Trenton. Belleville General is not very caring and is in a hurry to send you out no matter how you feel. Bad service.
6 hours and waiting to have my 5 month old checked out on a quiet Friday night. Tape on the floor to tell you where to go takes the cake...
I had to wait in emergency for 4 hours with a dislocated shoulder...causing more damage. The triage nurse didn't even listen when I came in.... brutal. Other visits and scheduled appointments have go e great though, and my shoulder was fixed by surgery that went really well.
I've had surgery here and pre op treatments. Happy with it. Because I only use the ER for what it was intended for, the last time I used the ER, I was immediately given a room and IVs put in. The staff her can be overwhelmed by patients that don't need emergency services filling the ER.
You get care that's what ya get.
I m from Toronto I bring my friend here in very critical condition when he drawing at local beach (sandbank dunes beach) 3 day All doctor and his staff work very hard and save his life now his is very well. All doctor and all staff very good and help full 29/July/2019
Nothing but positive things to say about my treatment and surgery here. Fast, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable staff. If you go to emerg for something that is not an emergency, expect slow service. It’s called “Emergency” for a reason. There are clinics for your sore throats and coughs.
This hospital left me in severe chronic pain for over 14 years. Here are just a few of the horror stories. They kicked me off hospital property with no pain killers because they said that I was faking pain and it is was all in my head. Security escorted me off of the property and told me not to come back for 24 hours. They told me to seek psyciatric help and left me screaming in the most horrific pain you could ever imagine. They left me unable to sit up and lay on the cold hard floor for extremely long waits of over 15 hours at a time with nothing to eat or drink. More times then I can count they have pumped me with medications I am highly allergic to while I clearly was wearing an allergy bracelet. One time I came by ambulance because I randomly went paralyzed from the chest down, including my arms. A nurse started yelling and being extremely rude to me because I threw up on the floor. They sent me home on several occasions with not a single test done or even a pain killer. All they did was touch my stomach and say nothing is wrong but to increase my morphine intake. They had me increase morphine so much that I was taking 240-300mg EACH DAY and still screaming in pain. To this day I have been diagnosed with several conditions. First being very very severe endometriosis. It took four treatments to get about 85% of the endometriosis out. Second doesn't quite have a name but my bladder stopped growing and stays small. It doesn't expand at all. When my bladder fills it bleeds and bleeds and bleeds into all of my other organs. Third is that I have an extreme case of interstitial cystitis in many locations. With all of this somewhat cured, I still continued to scream like I was living in a torture chamber. Its like the pain didn't even decrease. Almost as if my diagnoses were not even painful but if they really are then you cannot even imagine the pain I have went through. Finally after begging for 10 years for my uterus to be removed since I diagnosed myself, not a single doctor in Belleville would perform the surgery as they didn't find it necessary. Finally I had found the right doctor to do it from Ottawa. Now I'm about 90% pain free and able to sit up and walk again with not a single thanks to belleville hospital. They didn't diagnose anything. The ONLY thing they ever said was to seek psyciatric help. This hospital is the most pathetic place I have ever dealt with. Especially when you are sick and they are supposed to be there to help. DO NOT go to the Belleville hospital under any circumstances. This hospital needs to be shut down immediately. I have a personal list of first and last names of exactly 42 doctors that did absolutely nothing. How can you leave someone so much in pain that they never stop screaming? So much pain they are unable to even walk or sit in a chair. Not a single doctor did anything to help. Shut down the belleville hospital before any more lives have to suffer from brain dead doctors and thier pure stupidity. Nobody deserves to go through the suffering, neglect and abuse this hospital has personally put me through.
I’ve never had a job or an employer allow me to wear headphones and play video games while on the clock. The very first contact going into emergency is a very lucky individual that has this very privilege. I felt bad that he had to interact with me and my wife upon our arrival. It’s very hard to engage with people while on the last level of Super Mario or dealing with the final boss in Zelda. My apologies to you good sir that your job and our presents in emergency may have interfered with your game play.
Do not go to emerge here, GO ANYWHERE ELSE! I started bleeding at 9 weeks pregnant, and no one could figure it out. They kept on telling me that spotting was normal. I wasn't just spotting, but I was actually bleeding. I went in at one point not even for the bleeding but because I was having an allergic reaction. The doctor looked at me and said "you have been here 9 times for this pregnancy, what do you want me to do for you? " The doctors just kept putting things off, would always send me home with no explanation as to why I was bleeding, and passing clots larger than a toonie. They also have absolutely no bedside manner, they treated me like I was just coming in for no reason. I had a life threatening complication, and hemorrhaged at 25 weeks, and was rushed to Kingston where I was admitted for 2 months. I was also severely anemic and had to get an iron infusion. Please, do not go here if you need emergency care. As for Maternity, and the NICU, they are amazing.
I was there today to renew prescription my pharmacy told me to go there my family dr is sick. The dr on call was so rude and did not refill my meds I have stage 4 COPD need my meds. Dr was so Rude ????not happy yet to mention I was there for 3 1/2 hours
Only giving it 2 stars because I had a baby here and quinte 7 is amazing. But the emerg department is brutal. Wait times are way too long and seems like no one is doing anything. Cambellford is by far the better hospital to go to. Also shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg to park here.
Thank you BGH for all the stitches over the years ✌???? lol
not the best place.
BGH is excellent care and very hard working staff. I had a recent stay and could not have gotten better care....thanks for your services
Waited for six hours just to walk out. I think the nurse forgot about us. Also the parking is garbage, they ONLY take credit. Not cash or debit. Next time I’ll drive up to Kingston.
A big Thank You to Dr. Kawan, Physio Staff, PSW's, Nurses to the wonderful care of my Mother. I can't say enough of the care and patience which was given to our Mother during her stay at Belleville General Hospital.
The staff are just rude the amount of nonchalant attitude towards the life of another person is disgusting
Good hospital that offers alot of services. Bjt long wait times.
Were I was born & where I wish my Beautiful daughter was born , Also where they diagnosed my heart murmur which can eventually kill me and almost has twice and needs to be checked up apon once every five years , No I can't get the surgery to fix it because it's only the size of a quarter plus the doctor is afraid my body won't be able to handle the surgery , Wonderful Hospital Great staff and Amazing doctors , One of the best yes I am very greatful for they're services .!!. .!!. .!!. ☺️????☺️
We've been waiting in the ER for 2 and a half hours after my daughter ingested a mushroom outside. Poison control advised we get charcoal asap. We still haven't seen anyone. Let's hope the mushroom wasn't too poisonous.
Crisis center is BS. They make you feel worse. No help.
This place is my genuinely my favourite hospital. No one is going to a hospital because they're having a particularly good day. But the waits are short considering South Lake (Newmarket), the doctors and surgeons are knowledgeable, and extremely informative about all ailments. A huge thank you to the staff, the nurses, and the doctors! They're wonderful! I have had two surgeries here, and will be having a third soon (broke all three bones in my left ankle) to shave down bone spurs, and removing some of the hardware.
I have been to hospitals in the GTA and around the world. I can tell you that this hospital is better than most if not all. I just had a day surgery here, and the experience couldn't have been better. All was pretty much on-time, went as expected, and the staff are nice (unlike many hospitals)
Great staff
Slow moving. In the time I waited I could have went to kingston and back.
They have signs posted to tell a nurse if you're leaving while waiting. 3+ hours in and i decide to tell a nurse im leaving, I then get berated for not knowing id be waiting this long, and how they get a penalty for every persom who doeant see a doctor.... excuse me but that isnt my problem. Learn to be professional, i was just trying to be nice....
Dangerously neglectful. Forgetting/refusing care to patients in life-threatening situations is unacceptable.
Nurses are very lazy and don't do their jobs at all. Picc lines are supposed to be flushed every 4 hours, instead the nurses wait 7+ hours. Not to mention they flirt with doctors instead of doing their jobs. Giving you one star, I'd give less if I could.
This is an extremely slow Hospital!!! They had only 2 doctors on to look after 3 zones...unacceptable!!! There should be at least 3 doctors on at night 1 for each zone...my wife came in at 9pm and spent close to 4hours after we had our car accident...Good thing it wasn’t life threatening or she’d have been dead by now!!! Worst ever experience!!!
The emergency department is @%en pathetic. I'm not sure who's to blame but it should be figured out now and fixed.
I give bgh no stars actually. I'm in the icu with a collapsed lung .. the head nurse took my food from me put it where I can't reach it. Her excuse is because they're very busy and do not want to keep getting new gowns in to come check on me ... pretty sure that's part of the job description, no? They're very ignorant here and sometimes have no clue as to what there doing.
Had to take my wife to A&E yesterday it was obvious that they were busy and it took an hour to get assessed by the Triage Nurse who was very good at her job assessing my wife’s condition. We then waited another 5 hours before we were put into a room to be assessed by a doctor. The nurses on duty were very caring and did their best to calm my wife down as she was in a lot of pain. We did see our doctor MARK FROATS 1 hour later so 7 hours in total. The first thing he said was to apologize for our long wait, this doctor carried out a very thorough examination of my wife’s condition and ordered tests and an X-ray His beside manner and outstanding care for his patients wellbeing is obvious and was very much appreciated by both of us. This could be said of all the staff we had contact with at BGH A&E. In my opinion the the 7 hours My wife waited to get treated was well worth the wait when you get looked after the way we were. Thank You BGH and lets hope it won’t be too long before you get the additional support you obviously need.
The staff on maternity are beyond amazing and friendly. They make you feel so welcomed and cared for. My nurse tonight was Sheena, she was beyond amazing. Truly thankful for her. I went in very worried and anxious in pain with my baby and she distracted me and made me laugh. Very knowledgeable and lets you know about everything going on, explains, etc. The doctor was Emily Stern and she was fantastic as well. Made me feel better for when I deliver my precious baby here.????❤️ Thank you
Everybody should have their babies at this hospital. Honestly I wasn’t too excited about the prospect of having a baby in Belleville, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Every single staff member was above and beyond. So nice, so helpful, genuinely people that care. Even the volunteers were amazing. The room I had was overlooking the bay, which was the most beautiful hospital room view I could imagine. I can’t say enough great things about the maternity ward. You don’t get that kind of experience in a big city that’s for sure!
The parking system at this hospital is a horrible monopoly! Do not attempt to pay with a credit card if you are using the machines. I went for routine blood work, came out to pay and the machine ate my card. I called the help line and got nothing but attitude from the support person. His summary of the situation was good for Captain Obvious; "I am not standing there, so how ican I help you". The net result is that I had to cancel my credit card, wait 10 days for another one and change all my prepaid accounts to a new credit card when it arrives. Just got my final bill from my credit card company; the last charge was $4 to QHC, they of course got their money. If you go there and have to deal with the monopoly, take bills and coins to pay, DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD!!!!
I've been a few times and in general the staff are nice. Only had one bad experience. I went with an extreme ear infection 3 months into Covid 19, had no option but to go to the hospital, the ear doctors were closed and my fam doctor wasn't seeing people in person. My ear hurt 24/7. The doctor made it seem like it was ridiculous I came in for my ear, I understand they're busy but I had no where else to go and she really made me feel uncomfortable.
Absolutely disgusted by my friends treatment here. Completely unprofessional, it is Doctors and Nurses jobs to try and keep us alive, not forget our prescriptions, give us false hope and forget that we are even there. I'm absolutely sickened by the stories unfolding about this place. Something needs to be done URGENTLY.
#IatrogenicTrauma Some doctors and staff I believe are negligent and potentially abusive in their conduct. I have complex tick-borne infections after getting bitten by multiple ticks in the area (I even had erythema migrans). They mistreated me after I told them very briefly about the Lyme symptoms. I was in excruciating pain, dizziness, and fatigue but they did not seem to care and asked me inappropriate questions such as my level of income. They were coercive and I believe how they treated me constituted as medical abuse. The experience also set me back in accessing the specialized treatment I needed for my arthritic and neurological symptoms arising from tick-borne illness. Please be careful here. I have heard a few times since, the popular saying around Belleville, "if you want to die, visit Belleville Hospital".
I had to hobble down the stairs from the parking lot to the Sills entrance, and had a difficult time with an immobilized knee brace attached to my leg… Little did I know, one of the staff members happened to see me taking my time …
If you like to waste your time this is the place for you.
Garbage hospital. No doctors, waited over 3hrs to be put in a room and not even seen by a doctor. Horrible place
the worst hospital should not have anymore goverment money shut it down and save peoples a lot of pain
Good hospital, nice updates done to interior and exterior. Still could use a bit more work. Most nurses are quite nice, unfortunately most are stressed from being over worked. I've delivered 3 children at this hospital and have NEVER had any issues.
This hospital is dirty. They only clean the room on discharge. There’s garbage on the floor and medical stuff. It’s a mess. Not very sanitary.
Once in you have a extremely long wait, once a person is ready and assigned to you from what I've seen helpful and nice aswell patient with all going on around them with discruntil peoples. This place i wouldn't recommend to go due to the waiting time. It's literally disgusting. If you go plan on spending a day probably well into the evening/ night. Make sure you have a 24 hour period to wait and don't have anything planned or want to do.
This hospital is brutal. There are a few really sweet people, but a few bad apples really spoil the bunch in this case. Waited from 10pm-2am with absolutely 0 contact or updates of when I was going to be seen. Personally witnessed multiple people just having to leave and try their luck somewhere else. I don't want to be unfair, perhaps this is just a funding issue? Maybe during the day they have more staff on site? Regardless, this is my second visit, and I'm 100% not going back. I'd rather die in my own house than spend another minute in the hell that is this hospital. If I could give 0 stars, I would.
I was born here in 94 so that’s cool
Subject: Apart of a bigger healthcare problem. No Autism Awareness!
Worst emergency room ever
Horrible treatment of my elderly father. Discharged when he was still ill and then he had to be re-admitted and died weeks later. Trying to get in touch with a doctor took days and even then, the discussion was not helpful. Really, if you're old, don't go there because you will be pretty much ignored.
I was in day surgery yesterday, thank you to the staff, Nurses and Dr Toprak for such great care. From Sandy at registration, to Nurse Rick and the sweet employee who went out of her way, ran upstairs and got my Mother a coffee and would not accept any money for it.(unfortunately she didn't catch your name) You totally made her day.
We said goodbye to my brother Seth last Sunday and I will forever be grateful to the ICU team that helped Seth and my family through the process of life support, intense grief, and organ donation. The staff was extremely patient and professional and words cant describe how they helped my family through the hardest moments we have ever faced. I want to thank the one staff member for singing "Soft kitty, Warm kitty" to Seth, it helped bring us a smile and laughter throughout the week and we are so grateful for that, we needed little breaks from the crying and pain! Trying to find the right words to thank everyone is impossible, but thank you to the ICU team for lightening the load, we will never forget you!
If you don't mind the wait , the doctors here are great
They took good care of me when I had my first full term baby. I was scared My first did was born 25 weeks ..the staff here did a great job.
I have had 2 short stays at BGH thus year for surgeries. I stayed on the 6th floor both times and can't thank all of the staff for their kindness, compassion, and excellent care. Thank you all.
If I couod give this place 0 stars I would.... the lack of communication between departments is unreal and not to mention I asked for a bottle of formula because my child drank more then expected, so The hours I was there I had ran out and said I'll need to leave and come back because She needs to eat, the triage telling me that he will ask pregnancy to get me a bottle then leaving me to wait and have my child start crying because shes hungry after being told I'd be taken right away. I cant go to the clinic because shes under 5 months and had blood on her neck and you won't admit her ?
Have had two babies here and the staff are amazing
I just had emergency gallbladder surgery and cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience here. The waits were long, but that’s no fault of the incredible staff here. The nurses in the ER and triage were very professional, and given my pain levels, on two occasions over the 14 hours we waited in emerg, they brought me to a bed so I could lay down. Not something they HAD to do, but something they did as a kindness. My surgeon Dr. McIlreath took my pain seriously and had me in the OR on a holiday Monday within 25 minutes of his arrival at the hospital. My overnight nurse was a complete stand-out and just the sweetest young woman. Lyndsey was attentive, caring, and genuinely concerned about every aspect of my needs. She made sure I was comfortable, had water or ginger ale, and even brought a bed in the room for my fiancée to sleep on. Five well-deserved stars for this hospital and their incredible staff.
They wont let you in to see your childs birth or care for a loved one if your not vaccinated, most unscientific people ever look at Gibraltar over 100% vax rate and it still spreads like crazy... I am done supporting them. Vax is a choice for many a good one but it has downsides and for many it makes no sense, also it does not stop spread so stop acting like it does. God have mercy on all the harm this choice will cause not letting people care and be there for loved ones in important times.
Waited 5 hours to see a doc then an extra hour to see if I was pregnant. Idiots run emerge and their lab.
I'm currently on my 5th hour of waiting. Out of these 5 hours, I've only spent about 10min actually talking to a nurse. I still don't know how long I'll have to keep waiting, since no one has come in to check up on me in 1.5 hours. I might just leave now without even speaking to a doctor. This is ridiculous.
Staff on Quinte Five were good, but MRSE was unexpected.
Beyond slow.. Disrespectful staff and unhelpful.
I would give 0 stars but that is not an option. This hospital is a joke. Got treated poorly. No let me refresh that I didn't get treated at all. I came in because I was having difficulty breathing due to covid 19 and I got shoved in this corn of a spot no access to a bathroom nothing. And got treated like I wasn't even there.
I think that the staff in imaging need to realize that the people who come to see you are not healthy otherwise they wouldn't be there. What may seem as a normal movement or touch to you is not to an unhealthy person and may hurt immensely....gentle movements please. Generally speaking staff is great through out, my reason for leaving a 4 Stars rating.
Worst hospital I've EVER been to!!! We waited 8hrs while my 15yr old sat with a broken collar bone! The doctor and nursing staff were great but there was only one doctor on shift with and entire hospital filled with patients!!! I really felt for the poor doctor!!!
We have had absolutely amazing experiences with the staff and doctors at BGH. From various surgeries to the mental health doctors and nurses. We can't say enough about this hospital.
Terrible place been waiting almost 8 hrs for a doctor that to be honest I don't even know if exists at this point, BGH you have to be the worst hospital to go to especially during covid, nonkne should ever have to wait 8 or more hours to see a doctor like come on
Staff courteous, caring, sympathetic to my medical issue
Nothing but good things. Was admitted when i was visiting the cottage. these people are all overworked but make the best of it. FYI to those commenting saying nurses dont flush piccs. I had one and i did a lot of research on them. they are only supposed to be flushed when you unhook the liquid or evey 7 days. and the bandage change is only every 7 days too,
Great doctors. Great care. Very pleasant stay. The only down side is the food. YUK!!
I recently had an operation - removed section of bowel, hernia repair and appendix removed. I could not have asked for any better treatment from any of the staff / personnel that I dealt with. I was very impressed with all - thanks to Dr. F. Barnabi, pre-op, recovery and 6th floor nurses. Randy C.
A heartfelt thanks to the ER admitting staff, Dr. Kawan (Orthopedics) and the nursing and physio staff on Quinte 6th floor for their wonderful care of my 89 year old father, Henry B. Oct. 26-30, 2019 for hip surgery and recovery.
Firstly I want to thank all of the nurses and front desk people and also doctors for your hard-working however it has been too long waiting even I came at like 7:30 in the morning just the two people in the waiting room. However after five hours still cannot see the doctor . I noticed that there are one or two guys just leave by a staff coming inside without waiting. I don’t know why. Hopefully there are more doctors onsite, I love this city, hopefully everything goes better and smooth
My girlfriend had our son here. Nice bright rooms. Fairly private.
Horrible nurses in the er on new year's eve.. were extremely rude to my son and even rolled their eyes a few times..I in turn lost my patience with them.. they changed a little but still very rude. This morning I get a call saying my son needs a urgent ultrasound today. So I take time off work and so does my son.., pay for parking. Get into the ultrasound dept and they tell me no he didn't Need one that he ready had one when we were there on new years eve. Not sure if they realize how important a pay check is and also the stress that my family has been though because of their errors and ignorance
I just wanted to say thank you to that nurse there named Hanna. She was at the emergency room and just the fact that she tried to help saved my life now I am back home and I hope she will see this message.
They tried to keep me...Jill..Chad..are bad nurses....they are in cahoots with George lake
I was there at this hospital today to meet my mom on quinte 6. Lifts were not moving so there was a guy from security. He was wearing a yellow t-shirt in the elevator helping all the people to reach different floors. He was very polite and humble. He made my visit to hospital very best. Thanks for helping me if you read this.
Our family has had nothing but good experiences at bgh. The only negative thing would be about emergency room wait time but that is the same at every hispital
Genuinely surprised that the ministry of health has yet to shut this place down. Their ICU logic seems to be "trial and error". Cause that always works so well... ????
Sitting here at Belleville general in a room for the last 2 1/2 hrs listening to the nurses make fun of people that has come in to be seen by a doctor this is not acceptable. And me sitting here with back pain like no tomorrow and not a living soul as come to see if I need any thing..
I gave birth to my daughter at QHC Belleville General Hospital @ Quinte 7 labour and maternity. I genuinely thank all the nurses and the doctors who assist me during my csection. Nurses are extremely knowledgeable and helpful in making sure my delivery is pleasant. I salute you all.
Have had treatment here a few times and ALWAYS been good
If you want to wait 8 hrs to see a dr this is the place for you . Dirty it smells and there’s no staff or dr anywhere to be found .if you want to die or suffer choose Belleville general hospital
I cannot thank the emergency staff, Dr. Levesque, Dr. Lalonde (sp?), the staff on Quinte 5 ( David, Melissa, Kaley, Jenn, Kim and Kim to name a few. Caught off guard completely one week ago by a sudden agina episode I received incredible care and compassion from the moment the paramedics arrived at my house to the moment I was discharged on Friday. Staff at this hospital are kind and compassionate working under very demanding conditions with a variety of us in various states of need. There was no stone left unturned in getting to the bottom of what my issues might be. Tests were Comprehensive and thorough. Doctors, nurses, PSW's, porters, lab personnel, etc. were warm and caring taking their time to reassure me and make me as comfortable as possible through the various daily tests and procedures. At 57 I felt fortunate I had never had to be in hospital and so you can imagine my apprehension about the whole experience but I have to say...if I had to be in hospital, this was the place to be. I wish there was more I could do to thank each and every one that participated in my care last week. You are all wonderful individuals and I hope you all are blessed with good things in the days ahead. A heartfelt thank you!
Good hospital
Daughter has been having debilitating headaches and has started having nose bleeds with them. Our family doctor has requested a scan to be done to rule out brain bleed or masses. Tonight she passed out and hit her head on the floor. We called the ambulance and she was taken to emerge. When they finally let me in with her she was sitting in the green area and that's where we have been for the last 4 hours and counting. Absolutely ridiculous.
Terrible uncaring ER
Took a cab had severe abdominal pain was told in triage that it wasnt life threatening and it was something that could wait until morning it would be at a 10 hour wait to be seen , the nurse was very short and curt with me to the point i had to her about it.
Not happy, sat in the exam room for over two hours and when I asked them how much longer it would be, they told me it was shift change and wouldn't be long. Meanwhile the nurses are sitting at the nurses desk flirting with the doctors!! What kind of emerg department are they running????
I have nothing but praise for the service received during my day surgery for a hernia operation on September 26th. All of the staff were very kind, civil and efficient throughout the whole process. Thank you very much for your care.
The worst hospital I have ever been to. Appointment at 10 for ultrasound and at 4 in the afternoon still waiting for the results. I have been to hospitals all over this country, by far the slowest service and worst patient care I have ever been exposed to.
Went to Emergency on Thursday at 8:30 AM. Took about 30 min to clear registration and into the examining room. Was treated sporadically for 3 h; care really depends upon the urgency of ones condition. Quality of care was good but suffered unnecessary trauma from repeated procedure. Spent 3 nights under observation. Quality of care was good. Staff attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and respectful. Masks worn by everyone except patients restricted within room.
If you have an emergency, don't choose this hospital because it's a waste of time. A poor health care system and repeated problems can break you down
A shout out to BGH ER, nurse Natalie and Dr. LeClerc. Went in Monday morning after being in bed all weekend with a crippling headache when migraine medication intensified it Craig took me in. I arrived at 7:30 was home by 11:30, intervenes drugs, CT scan (history of aneurysm). Headache due impingements in my neck. I hear lots of negative comments regarding wait time. I just wanted to say it’s not always the case.
Nurses dont seem to care and actually skipped questions on my sheet in triage, just putting no for all questions on one sheet
Well done BGH, screening at the Sills entrance was efficient and directions given for sanitizing. The Fracture Clinic is very well organized and more than helpful, thank you Rebecca for you assistance. Xray, perfect..... Dr Pickle was awesome, details given and all questions answered.....thank you Ed for my new cast......
I am currently in the waiting room where I have sat for the last 5 and a half hours with my 4 year old on my lap with a fever of 103 swollen hands and feet and having trouble breathing but aparently the drug addicts are more important to get in and out in a timely manner. What a joke. You would probably get more help on the street
Disgustingly negligent and rude. Can't imagine how many malpractice lawsuits this hospital has had taken out against them. Perscriptions being held or cancelled while patients are in life threatening situations. Antibiotics 200% necessary for treatment were not given at proper 8 hour intervals not until 16 hours later. This is after this routine had been done for 9 days straight! Failure to follow procedure when cleaning picc lines which caused a blood clot to blow into a patients already weak heart! Picc lines are to be changed every 3 days at max. Patient's was not changed for 8 days. Oxygen being turned off while patients are sleeping and nurses ignoreing distress calls/call light alerts. This hospital needs to be shut down before they kill their patients or more of them. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!
If a hospital is so hard up for money why are they even in operation. People circling visitor's parking area like vultures waiting for a spot to park. Suggestion: build a second tier . Waiting in the ER to see a doctor for upwards of 6 hours ( if your lucky). Suggestion: get more than one or to doctor's to be working it. If you don't have the funds to improve the ER department then close it down!
MATERNITY FLOOR 7. CHARITY AND BREANNA. That's who you want. That's who we had. Amazing people. Those two took such good care of my wife I'll never forget it. All other staff were amazing. All doctors are incredible. Your in great hands and they make you feel that way Even if your a person who overreacts like me. Covid 19 restrictions suck but They made the absolute best of it. Say nice things about chickens or Charity will cry hahaha.
My son is a patient at the Children's Treatment Center and they are all fabulous. Last night I had to bring my son in as his feeding tube came out and I couldn't get it back in. The Dr and Nurse were fantastic(I can't remember names as I am on very little sleep) they were excellent. Thank you!
Just ridiculous.. you need to wait 2-3 hours in so called “emergency” department. You don’t get any updates and anything just wait for them..
What a disorganized mess. Had an x_ray today and the registration process was extremely slow. Both check-in computers were down. For awhile only one clerk was checking patients in and 9+ people were in line. This is our modern and efficient way to serve the public. The brotherhood preaches "WORKING CONDITION". Maybe less pay and more service would improve the management of the hospital services.
ER waits are short if you get there early in the AM; otherwise expect a long wait. Regardless, amazing nurses and staff have helped me through multiple gallbladder attacks and the following surgery, and now helping me through another diagnosis and care. Followup appointments are booked quickly, and my health feels like a top priority. The hospital is also always clean and welcoming, which is very nice after coming from Quebec's system. I can't talk enough about how much I appreciate everyone at this hospital and everything they've done for me.
Zero... I wish I could rate lower Unreal how there is No help for mental health. The ER is useless
Very helpful staff at maternity floor. All are well educated and helpful.
I had a motorcycle accident in high school. There's NO WAY that I should have been kept there......no trauma team (ie. vascular or neurosurgeon).
The staff were ok overworked and running around. Discharge was why such a poor review. Was told an hour, 3 hours later still here.
I was sitting here with my mother and so I got a nurse to get my mother a blanket. She did so she turned out the room as I was asking when the doctor would be here as they told us a hour previous that the doctor would be in soon, she ignored me and kept walking away and started snacking on the many snack a nurse brought in prior. She sure did hear me making a comment on her not listening to me and then snacking away because they started putting the snacks a way moments after my comment was said but couldn't answer my question. I'm from Alberta and visiting, I will be going elsewhere if my children get ill. This place is a joke..
If you want to die of old age go to their ER
Kim on switch board is ignorant and refused to transfer me to someone who could help me in do believe that is her job and if she is not willing to do her job she should go home and give someone who actually wants to help people in that position her supervisor is Andrew and she refused to give me a way to contact him in regards to our conversation which was pretty much her yelling at me telling me I will have to wait 45 min for a nurse to see someone in medical need don't think that's right Omg just found out the loop hole you have to work there apparently a child with a high fever of someone who works there takes priority over a type one diabetic running high fever high keystone's level good job Belleville hospital you have done it again would have been quicker to drive to kingston or even sick kids in Toronto
I heard it straight from a visiting physicians mouth. “This hospital is so disorganized, no one communicates!“ it’s absolutely true, the floors are an uncooperative mess. Rude, condescending nurses, terrible bedside manners. They disregard your requests and preferences. Nothing but distasteful experiences here. You’re made to feel like a burden. You’re often forgotten about.
Mental health is severely mistreated to the point I will no longer return to the ER to speak to a crisis councilor.
Went to emergency by recommendation from Pharmacist & telehealth due to a reaction I was having to a new prescription that was very painful painful muscle spasms in my abdominal area that were going into my back. Both told me to go to emergency, since it was happening for 2 days and I couldn't sleep or do anything with it without getting worse. And they said it wasn't a very common side effect, so go to emerg. The doctor said it was no concern even though I was in intense pain. He told me to come back when it gets worse...so does that mean in an ambulance?? I waited until I could bear it no longer because I hate going here because they never help from what I have experienced and heard. And on top of it all the nurse put the IV in wrong, so my arm was in extreme pain, swelling, and blood was leaking out....I asked 2 different nurses at different times and they both said they would come fix it but both continued to socialize sitting at the counter that was across from my room. Then when I left the nurse ripped it out and was extremely rude to me, even though I politely asked them previously. These people should NOT work in a hospital. Do they not realize that is borderline abusive not looking after patients concerns and being rude ripping out IVs? Anyways. Here we are a day later and I am still in pain with muscle spasms in my stomach and now a very sore, dark purple, swollen arm from the nurse on top of it. Never go here. Always go to Trenton or Picton. This place is awful. I only went here because I couldn't bare the pain or do the drive to the others from the pain. So disappointing. Like what do I do now? Unbelievable.
the food was meh. Kinda smelled like death. The kool-aid also tasted kinda wack...a little metal like. 2 stars would eat again.
Horrible experience for my wife and I. My wife had to deliver her first child without an epidural or doctor due to the nurses lack of discretion or experience. My wife could’ve died from excessive blood loss from tearing. But I won’t let one bad apple spoil the whole tree. The nurse that ran in to deliver my son was great and professional, she knew what she was doing. But overall it was a horrible experience and my wife is traumatized from her experience and is currently recovering from her stitches. What is the point of a simple birth plan when nothing went wrong as planned.
All three of my children were born here; I'm subtracting two stars for Dr Clark who *assisted* the OB; he was extremely unprofessional in his dealings with my wife's very wonderful midwife in the operating room, and through his petulant incompetence turned a routine, scheduled Caesarean section into an emergency. While the rest of the staff expressed their regrets regarding how the surgery went--the Anaesthesiologist even came to personally apologize in the recovery room once my wife awakened--for some reason they all deferred to him on decisions regarding my wife's comfort and she was put under for our daughter's birth, when all that was required was that they actually listen to what she was saying during the spinal. The ordeal truly exacerbated my wife's postpartum depression, which does not prevent me from writing a scathing report on the man, although I'm certain that she will be less kind than I when she chooses to write her own. Security and COVID personnel are all very kind, as well as the maternity staff who treated us like royalty during our stay. If not for Dr Clark, this would have been a five-star review.
On July 17, 2018, I had my left kneecap repaired by Dr. Birchard. I found Dr. Birchard to be knowledgeable, diligent and skilled. He relates well with patients, speaking in simple terms. A big shout-out to all of the staff of Belleville General Hospital involved with my care. As soon as my left knee heals, I will be looking forward to getting the same treatment on my right knee On July 2,2019, Dr Birchard repaired my right kneecap I am now walking perfectly, with no limp and no PAIN. A big thank-you to Dr. Birchard and all of the staff of the OR,PAR and Qunite 6.
I thought I was having a heart attack and was very scared and the staff in the emergency room were amazing and took very good care of me and made me fell safe!! Thanks to Jen, Linda, Charlotte, Darwin and the ladies who took me to x-ray and CT, the lady in x-ray and the lady in CT and who ever I missed who was working that day October 16th from 1:55am till 11am THANK YOU ALL SOOO MUCH!!! YOU LADIES AND GENTLEMAN ARE THE BOOM!!! I know where I'll be going when I need medical help ????????
I had a blood clot in my calf. I waited in the evening until I could sit no longer. I went the next day in an ambulance and was dumped back in the green zone in a wheel chair where I had waited the night before. I waited 7 hours without water or food before I finally saw a doctor. It was confirmed I had a blood clot. I am on blood thinners but my leg is still painful and swollen and worse. I tried to find out if it was busy in the green zone but no one would tell me. Sorry we can't do that was the answer. What the heck is going on down there? People were waiting way longer than that and a mother with a little baby. People standing with injuries. Awful just awful.
You are in and out No waiting.
Yes the wait is long. It’s an emergency room. They triage who is in the room on a regular basis to treat life threatening illnesses first. Count it as a blessing if you are waiting a long time. Doctors are stretched thin and yes - BGH clearly needs to recruit more of them. Dr. Patricia MacDonald was fabulous and thorough. She provided service beyond what I expected from an emergency room base standard.
I had 2 surgery's in the past 2 weeks and the nurses were great. Amazing staff.
Amazing people who do their best with what the government has given them. I am grateful for the hard working people who are there and wish some of the whiners could go and pay for what they take for granted. Yes, they are busy, yes the wait times are long but its FREE and they are working as hard as they can to take care of us. I can't imagine how hard it is to have people constantly asking how long it will be and listening to them complain about it. My thank you to the staff at the Belleville General. Special shout out to Dr Sheri who saved my eye, Dr Morin in the emergency who called me personally the next day to let me know my MRI results and to all of the nurses there who deserve a medal for the long hours and few compliments. There are a lot of people who have just no idea how lucky they are. Go to the US and experience the costs of all of this.
arrived at 4pm on advice of dr at walkin clinic. He thought I might be septic had blood tests and urine sample. At 7pm Dr came into waiting room announced only 3 Drs and 35 patients still waiting at 930 if I leave my results are scrapped This is a terrible hospital and I am from B.C. so had not much choice will never go back
I would give this hospital a zero if I could even if you have appointments the waiting time is the worst, even if it's not busy
this is not a health clinic it's more of a killing clinic I go in 2 days before my ultrasound because of haveing terrible morning sickness so the plugged me into an iv shoved gravel (pregnant woman should have gravel) into it and some other meds to the point of drugging my baby to death not knowing. So I go for my ultrasound 2 days later and the lady oporating the machine would let me see or know anything till a month later when I find that I'm getting pains and bad bad bleeding so I go to the hospital again for them to tell me oh I have been carrying a baby they killed in me for about a month!!!!! They didn't tell my family doctor!!!! And I seen the heartbeat before they drugged me up 2 days ago I wouldn't suggest my worst enemy to that hospital they don't care and hardly do their job Years later tho I have went on to have my daughter and have found their maturity ward staff are wonderful. And their doctors for that floor mind you with the emergency floor there are some nice nurses and doctors I do find the secret keeping from my miscarriage was still very disrespectful but not all doctors are the same maybe if I had a different doctor treating me when this happened things would have been different.
Was turned away today by a nasty nurse at triage...she even called me an idiot when i left...i told her in my opinion shes a jerk..so she called security on me when i used the phone tto call a taxi...what i dont understand is where does she have the right to refuse me seeing a dr when i have something wrong with my foot and cant walk...she told me it was a corn..so i should call a foot dr..when i asked if i needed a referal she snapped at me.I told her i dont have a family dr..hence i was there to get help..but i guess shes now able to diagnose too
Hurt my arm on Christmas weekend. Was told by a friend it's probably just a pinched nerve so I was taking ibuprofen and it helped with the pain...until now. Pain killers weren't helping anymore. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep. Decided to go to the emergency department for 3:00am. Triage nurse was kinda rude. Told her my pain was an 8 out of 10. Get in to see the doctor and his diagnosis makes sense, however he writes me a prescription for physical therapy. I asked him what he can give me for the physical pain I was in. He said Aspirin or Advil. The fact I had to ask for something is sad. He should have offered. I went there for pain, not a damn prescription for physical therapy! Anyways back at home now, popping so many Ibuprofen but it's not helping at all. Probably gonna stay up all day since I still can get comfortable enough to get sleep. Honestly I think him messing around with my arm made it worse. This hospital is an absolute joke. Stay away! ????
I had a total knee replacement here in Oct. of 2018. The surgery, with Dr. Pickle, went very well, and I am grateful that my life is so much easier now with a straight leg, and no more pain. For the most part, I found the staff to be very kind, and competent. The surgical nurses were so nice, and tried to make me comfortable in the OR. We did have one night nurse, on the surgical floor, who was in a bad mood, acted angry, and did not want to give me or the other patient in my room our pain medication, but all the other nurses were fine, and as soon as the morning shift came on at 7:00 a.m. they gave us our pain medication right away. All the other nurses on the surgical floor were pleasant and took very good care of me. They were cheerful about keeping me very clean, and helping me stand and move, which I really appreciated. The hospital food was better than I expected, and always reached me hot. The parking lot is something I want to avoid though, and I have a relative drop me off, and pick me up. It is very crowded, expensive, and you have to go up hill and down dale, which is hard for some patients. For the most part, I think I received excellent care, and certainly had excellent results, so I would use this hospital again.
never ever take your dog to belleville hospital
Went to emergency with high fever and abdominal pain. Waited at least 6 hours. Dr Istead ran some tests but let me go after a few hours still in pain and with a fever. The next day, I went to another hospital and right away, got surgery for peritonite!!! Never again will I go there.
Very long waits and in the end had to go elsewhere with no real relief or help
I had a breast biopsy done a couple of weeks ago. Angela and Dr Gammel the radiologist were wonderful. They took me through every step and made it less scary for me. They were wonderful. Thank you to them both.
Went in with a known broken ankle had an X-ray done they saw another break below my knee and sent me home.. told me to wait 3 days
My wife, son and I have attended this hospital many times for various reasons. The wait times have been good considering it is not a private healthcare system. Every nurse, doctor and support stuff we have interacted with has been amazing in every way.
I've been here four times in a two yr period , most recent being 45 minutes ago , I was given a referral to a Dermatologist ( which I've already seen and currently already have a referral for Dr. Yuka) , I have also seen an Opthamologist twice , in two yrs I have approx seen 20 doctors ( give or take a doctor ). I came to emerge with hope that they'd run a test or two , instead I received a referral that I already have . I have lost my hair , eyelashes and eyebrows ... My Mom died of Cancer at 34 , I'm 34 . If I were the Mayor of Belleville I would have had a diagnosis the first time around , but I'm not the mayor. To Belleville Emergency Hospital ALL I AM IS FLESH , BLOOD AND ORGANS .I have lost every thing that was important to me ... not just my hair .
Shannon in the imaging department was phenomenal! She made a not so pleasant ultrasound tolerable. She was the best ultrasound technician I have ever had. (And I’ve had plenty) she was super friendly and extremely thorough. Thank you Shannon for your kindness. You are a great asset to BGH!
Only basic care is provided, staff are overrun and undertrained and this leads to big mistakes being made. Whatever funding the hospital is getting, it's not improving patient care or increasing staff.
Been in emergency twice, both times place empty except for 2 others and waited a ridiculous amount of time, this is terrible. No need for this at all and i would hate to see how long it takes if it was really busy. Just really pathetic
Was there for a short stay all I can say is it depends on the different wards of the hospital some are much much better then others. Where other floors you get treated worse then anything. I first hand witnessed nurses yelling at the patients (elderly) making rude comments to them then say oh I just said I’ll be your nurse tonight.. I’ve seen them laugh at a patient in distress ... I have seen patients sleep in the hallway with no privacy and these nurses have no shame for the patients as their blankets are falling off or showing their bodies. I have first hand witnessed them give more to a guest of a patient, making sure they have everything and making sure “they”are comfortable over a patient.. Locking up drinks wth is this if you don’t visit the patient regularly to ensure they are comfortable, have fluids or if they have eaten how fair is it to them to not be able to get a drink or ice chips even !!! All I can say is if you are not satisfied with your job then find a job you are passionate about it is not fair to you and definitely not fair to the patients being mistreated!!
I was transferred to BGH from Picton hospital on Oct 16,2019. Dr.Davies(surgeon)consulted with me about an MRI and surgery on my gallbladder l would need done in a day or so . The Nursing staff on the 6 th floor in bgh (all shifts)were compassionate , caring professionals and made me very comfortable as l waited for my surgery on my gallbladder. My Surgeon Dr.F Barnabi is a skilled, compassionate, very respectful gentleman that l highly recommend. Thank you Belleville General Hospital for the great care!
My wife works there and it is a great hospital!
If you are near death - Go here, they will help finish you off!
