A bit of background on me:
Due to some childhood trauma, I have been in and out of therapy since I was 10 years old. Between the ages of 22-25 I was married, in a car accident that resulted in the loss of a limb, a mother of two children, divorced, and a suddenly single (but very blessed) mom to a 6 month old and a 3 year old.
I have seen all kinds in Barrie-psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, etc. I found most of them to be cold, impersonal, and generally uncaring. I wanted someone who cared (or even pretended to), not a cold couch that reminded me of scenes from a movie. And, then in my forties and long since having given up on ‘therapy’, it was recommended that I call Deb at the Reflection Centre.
I was struggling to maintain a healthy parent/child relationship with my teenaged daughter and this was undeniably and unbelievably the best decision I ever made. It changed the way I communicated with my daughter and changed the trajectory of our relationship. And that was only the beginning of my path to healing, forgiveness (of myself and others), and growth. Thanks to Deb, my now adult daughter and I have an incredibly strong relationship and the tools I’ve gained have helped me in every relationship I have, whether it’s with coworkers, family, or friends. If you’re someone who knows they’ll never be ‘perfect’ but you also desire growth and want to be better, I highly recommend The Reflection Centre. They won’t just recommend a book and criticize you when you don’t do your “homework”. Thanks, team, I wouldn’t want to share my life’s struggles with anyone else. You restored my belief that counselling can and does help!
