Dr. Ali is the best psychiatrist I’ve ever worked with. I’m a former NeuroStar TMS therapy patient at this facility (completed fall 2019) and it’s hard to put into words exactly *why/how* I feel better after the treatment... but I do. And even though my insurance didn’t want to cooperate and I stopped a week shorter than the recommended number of visits, I still feel pretty great. It’s most definitely helped with my depression (feeling more energetic and less lethargic and stuck in bed with crippling depression) and given me the will to improve my my life. I am hoping to eventually be off depression medication completely (I’ve already cut it in half since TMS) under Dr. Ali’s supervision (and only with her permission of course!!) and I believe it will be possible because of the work the office personnel, the NPs, and Dr. Ali all put into my case. I’ve never felt actual results before with a psychiatrist, having been on antidepressants for over a decade but basically all of them failing to help. I had given up, no exaggeration, on getting better. But I’m on my way to recovery and never dreamed this treatment would turn my life around but that it definitely did. Thanks Dr. Ali, Jamie, and Jenny and the whole Allen Psychiatry staff.

Not really anything towards the psychiatrist, but at the same time they will turn you away if you don't have the payment up front they don't tell you this, don't get me wrong they deserve to get paid but like all things medical they can but won't bill you later. I would look into someplace else if I were you. Better yet they gave me a call later on telling me well we understand the problem but know that that we schedule one patient at a time so she had to sit there for a whole 45 minutes. ooh I did not have to do anything for 45 minutes and got paid. oh I am so sorry.

May 2019 I became a new patient at Allen Psychiatry after a line of events in my personal life leading me to seek medication to help my depression and anxiety. I was seen by Jenny Haney, who in under 5 minutes of questioning, “diagnosed” me with Bipolar 2. She stated I was in a mixed episode and immediately sent medication to my pharmacy. I won’t go in to detail about how strenuous it was to ease onto this medication, yet alone wean off of. We went through a few medications, different doses, adding more, taking some away. During this time, I sought the help of a psychologist for my first full psych evaluation to determine if 1) I had Bipolar, and 2) if there was anything else I might be dealing with. Fall 2020 I received a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, my already known diagnoses of Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depression. Yet, the psychologist believed my Bipolar Diagnosis was incorrect. I continued to see Jenny Haney while I navigated life having now knowing I am autistic. I did not want to go off of medication without confirming if I truly had Bipolar or not, and wanted to learn more about myself and what it means to have autism. Throughout the end of 2020 and early 2021, my medications were not successful. I had awful side effects to which my concerns were ignored and covered with the guise of : “let’s try another medication.” When Jenny Haney was unavailable, I made appointments with the next available psychiatrists. By this time, I did not believe my Bipolar diagnosis was correct. I had been logging my moods daily and saw no indication or pattern similar to Bipolar 2. On one of the occasions Jenny Haney was unavailable, I had an appointment with Jillian Adams who made a mockery of my concerns and laughed at me when I said I believe I don’t have Bipolar. After this, I sought a second psych evaluation with a colleague of the first psychologist who did my first eval. This second psychologist undiagnosed me with Bipolar 2, stating it was made without regard to my well being. Having ASD, major depression, and severe anxiety were confirmed, and I also learned I have PTSD. This psychologist stated that the psychiatrists here at Allen Psychiatry mistook my panic and trauma responses for Bipolar 2 and I had been on completely incorrect medication for 2 years. Since, under care of another provider, I weaned off of these medications. I will never recommend this place to anyone, if anything I will deter them from going here for help. I was appalled by the lack of respect for my very real concerns, the mockery of my need for real answers and assistance, and pushing medication onto people without actually listening to them. Do better.

i can’t express how kind and amazing the entire staff is. i’ve been through countless psychiatrist and psychologists and after my first appointment, i felt so welcome and relived to know that they are great providers. i can’t even begin to thing to how many clinics and facilities i have been to in the past 7+ yrs from a young age. i truly believe the staff cares, especially the receptionist who is so sweet! i rarely write reviews but i am so glad i became a patient here. one of the best parts is that seeking therapy and psychiatric treatment in one facility (as well as services such as tms) are all provided. i have struggled with going to psychiatrist who strictly write prescriptions and don’t have any therapy, and the same vice versa. i’m glad to have found allen psychiatry!!

Just started TMS therapy after seeing her for depression for a few years and so far the results are good and noticeable. I'll be back once it's complete to give you honest impression of that specific therapy but, in the meantime, send your friends and loved ones who face mental health challenges to this office and you should be highly satisfied with the staff and experience!

She was nice but she often times would put words in my mouth a try to diagnosis me with something that I am clearly not. I went into her office asking for a decrease in my medications and instead I was given bags full of samples which I did not know what they were for. Not pleased but I am grateful for finding my new doctor. She's educated and doesn't look down at her watch as if she has someone better to be. Thanks. I would not recommend.

If I could give zero stars I would. We went to Dr. Ali two times after seeing her NP. Dr. Ali's "bedside manner" was shocking. She was uncaring, judgmental, nasty, and made my daughter and me feel very bad for coming to her for help. Her nasty attitude made my daughter never want to seek help for her depression and anxiety. The second visit felt like she was scolding us and we will not see her again. We went to her for help and left feeling like we disgusted her. She asked us how much the dosage of the antidepressant did we want. I go to a doctor for her/him to use their degree to treat me, not ask me what I want. So disappointed.

Allen Psychiatry makes it easy to request and receive help. Setting up appointments online is so helpful, I don't have to stress about calling to set something up. Very unorganized. Without notice they changed my Doctor for my second appointment. Then they tried to charge me a no show fee for an appointment that I had rescheduled. I had to stand there and argue with the front desk lady until she finally realized what happened...if you’re looking for a place that cares, don’t come here. I know good, great physicians when I encounter them. Dr. Ali is my chosen psychiatrist. She is superb, excellent. She is a great listener. She takes as much time as you need. You will NEVER feel rushed or NOT HEARD with her. She is highly competent and knowledgeable ( and this teaching doc knows.) Very unhappy with her. Twisted thought process denying anxiety medication because I was taking prescribed pain medication for chronic pain in my back and knees. She called it narcotics abuse. Demanding at every visit for some type of documentaion whether it be drug sceens, former psychiatrist records, detox facility records on and on. It was like pulling teeth to simply get a business card from her - her response was why - look me up on google! Seeing her every 15 days at $110 a shot and a 15 day RX is not reasonable to me. We have parted ways after she wasted a considerable amount of my money and time. Beware!

I have consistently referred patients to this practice, and my referrals tell me they love It. The office itself is beautiful, and tastefully decorated (doesn’t feel sterile and cold). Dr. Shahla Ali is a brilliant psychiatrist who, despite having probably seen it all, remains a compassionate and caring professional. DR SHAYLA ALI AWFUL . I am 100% sure the majority of these reviews are fake .She is a VERY combative, controlling and insulting individual She asked my GP to lie to my insurance . She wante me to take a drug test during our first consult. I was so insulted but said I ok . Then she said she wanted done before agreeing to treat me .I told her I wanted to see a therapist not a shrink and that i was only there because the therapist I found just happened to work for bet practice . Next she took it upon herself to call my reg doctor while I sat there. Dr Apte recommended her which is how I emded up in this place. Dr Ali was talking to her as of she sends ALL her consults for drug texting. I could clearly hear my Dr replying with “this is unusual and we dont do walk in drug testing “ she did not want to do it and Dr Ali replied “ just put it under a reg blood work code” I could hear my Dr asking her why she was trying to drug test me ,thats when I realized she was a liar. The only reason I kept my follow up after that first one was because after talking to the therapist ( he works in her office) about that initial appt , he said to talk to her about it , that maybe we got off on the wrong foot. I get why he took that position. Its his boss and maybe he felt obligated. That said, I knew from the way I was treated during the consult appt, it was probably not going to work with her because she is a liar and called me “Delusional” for believing that my using kratom helped me stop very addictive pain medication my previous doctor had me on for 13 years. It was then that I asked him about being able to continue working with him regardless. I did not need a shrink - but apparently she is so controlling that if I see the therapist then I HAVE to be on meds and to get those I need to see her. I didnt want meds just someone to talk to. I should have listened to my gut and cancelled the follow up She is horrible and basically ruined my relationship with my new Dr by asking her to manipulate insurance codes . Next thing I knew she told me I had no choice and had to pay for my own test... WHAT???? I told her I would not pay 1500.00 to appease her Worst experience I have ever had. I am not sure if it is a cultural difference or she just didn’t like me or my confidence . But she needs to realize that a medical license does mot make you a good person or a good doctor. She projected a lot of her own insecurities onto me and obviously she was bullied ( I am guessing by white girls) You don’t just end up being that defensive and judgmental without feeling some sort of way. The only part that upsets me is I really liked my therapist Chris. I expressed my concern to him over that awful first meeting with her and he said I could still see him regardless of who my psychiatrist is ( that wasnt true) She told me he had no right to say that and she said he lied to me. I dont believe a word this woman says. Save yourself the grief. Find a professional, she is very self centered with obvious insecurities. I do not believe for one second that all these reviews are genuine . Its a little strange how some of the same words are misspelt in various reviews. Another thing I found very odd , she took it upon herself to pull up all my past medical information and asked me questions she already had the answers to . She was checking if I was going to lie to her. What kind of doctor shames a patient and attacks their character during a first appt?? She could benefit from a class in sensitivity training and maybe learn to keep her feelings of insecurity and opinions to herself., until she actually knows me. There is no room for that behavior when you choose a profession where being sensitive and open is required . .

Dr. Ali and her staff quite honestly set a benchmark for healthcare providers in all fields of medicine in my opinion. Having experienced other Psychiatrists in Allen and Frisco for my son, daughter, and myself. I can honestly say the ENTIRE staff of Allen Psychiatry is nothing but stellar. In my experience with mental health care providers or actually, with any medical provider, I have never met an individual who was so devoted to her profession and dedicated to helping her patients. Dr. Ali is the best psychiatrist I have been to. The amount of dedication and care she provides for me is always overwhelming. She replies to my long texts, sometimes even on weekends at night even apologizing if it took her a little time to reply. I always feel validated and heard, which for me is the core of being a good psychiatrist. with She is always discussing my options with me and always makes an effort to get me the support and the medication I need as early as possible. She also efficiently handles all the insurance requirements in a timely manner. She is the only person who interviews the patients, which is great if you don't like to discuss your symptoms with multiple people. It feels very private and confidential. Her staff are nice, helpful and accommodating. The wait in her office is never more than 15 mins in a nice comfortable waiting room that has a coffee machine :)

I absolutely love the psychiatrists, but they must hire a new receptionist. There has been multiple times where I’ve called with a simple question about what my psychiatrist prescribed me. The receptionist gives an attitude, refuses to leave a note for my psychiatrist, and demands that I make a new appointment, which costs $170....just unbelievable Not to mention that it’s hard to reach them in the first place. I’ve been calling them for a week and a half with no response.

This is a helpful and honest practice. Dr. Ali genuinely cares about my mental health, but has never made me feel like anything is wrong with me. She is kind hearted, and when I was unsure about medication, she did not push, and openly addressed all of my concerns. She makes herself available as quickly as possible. The office manager is very helpful when I need to schedule or change appointments. I highly recommend Dr. Ali or any of the nurse practitioners at this practice. It is the best psychiatry practice I've ever been to.

This is a great place. I go here for spravato treatment. Dr. Ali genuinely cares about helping her patients and people in general. The staff that work for her are great as well, from the front desk to the nurse practitioners everybody has a great attitude making the environment very positive. If you’ve found this place give it a shot, I don’t think you will be disappointed. Also some of the hallways smell like jolly ranchers which is never a bad thing. I first dealt with anxiety when I was pregnant the first time, ignored it for a while until it became a big concern. I’ve been seeing Dr Ali for a while now and I am extremely pleased. One thing which i loved was when I wanted to get off of my antidepressants Dr Ali helped me understand how and how not to. She doesn’t rush off any visit and truly takes her time to understand what it is her patients need. This practice is extremely professional, and the office is really well maintained. I loved my doctor. However the rest of the business and staff is extremely unorganized, and rude. Every single time I had a prescription filled I would have to call the office to make sure they sent it, which normally they forgot to. I’ve been using this place for about two years, and every single month I had a problem with prescriptions being filled, and every single appointment they switched days without telling me. Almost every single time I had an appointment, they would forget to refill my prescriptions, and I would be off them for days at a time, and they kept telling me it was fine. It’s not fine. This place has caused me so much mental and emotional stress. I do not recommend this place. It causes you more problems than it does help you. To respond to what they sent me back, no actually it is not the pharmacy, considering I would keep calling and there would be excuses like “oh the doctor is at yoga now, she will send it to the pharmacy when she is done” and then 2 days later the pharmacy would still not have the prescription. So I would call allen psychiatry again, and they would tell me she’s busy but they’d leave her a note. This is a HORRIBLE establishment, none of you people should be working with people and their mental health. Get it together!!! Also, this is my one and only review. Everyone else is doing enough with their bad reviews. I’m sorry there’s so many but maybe you guys should figure out how to rebrand your practice the ethical way, rather accusing one person of all the bad reviews. Maybe since there are so many bad reviews, you guys should realize you are the problem. Not one previous patient leaving one real review.

It's tough to find a good practice with competent front desk staff, caring providers and a place that actually returns your calls the same day. I've been dealing with depression for over 10 years. So many medications tried and failed, so many "doctors" just gave up on me. I searched for months to find a place that had options. I stumbled upon Allen Psychiatry through my tireless Google searches that always seemed to hit a dead end with nobody ever calling me back. They offer TMS and Spravato. Both of which I was hesitant about. But, what did I have to loose? I went over options with my provider and decided on Spravato. The Spravato approval process was seamless, the patient care technicians really actually care about you, the programs coordinator was prompt and caring. I finally felt hope. So far, treatment has been good. I'm feeling a weight lift and better outlook on life. This place is one of a kind. I have never been to a practice like this. I feel like I matter, like my success matters, like I have a support team. Can't say enough good things about Allen Psychiatry and Dr. Ali.

Dr. Ali is the most Awesome psychiatrist I ever met. She is always in time. I was waiting for her in the lobby when another patient started yelling at her for being late. She remained calm and asked the patient to check his reminder. Of course the patient was a day off but she remained very patient with him and politely explained him he was a day early for his appointment. Never got prescriptions on time. Would keep calling and they kept telling me they’d leave the doctor a note. One time they even spelled my name wrong so the pharmacy couldn’t give me my prescription. They kept switching the dates of my appointments, made me feel like I was going insane. Then I pulled past emails and saw they were just unorganized and couldn’t keep dates right. One time the rescheduled on a day when my doctor was on vacation I mean come on. Then they proceeded to tell me I could see another doctor just to get my medicines filled. Signed on the virtual appointment and that doctor told me I was never on her list. I kept documentation of all of this to show them, they still denied it.
