I've been there today and I really don't regret it. They know their jobs and they really found how to help me. Instead of loosing time in normal emergency for 16hours, and finally see a doctor that really just wanna kick you out as soon as he can...they where kind and comprehensive. Thanks for everything!

My son has been incarcerated by the Hospital over a week and now for the next 3 days,,,,, every time I call he’s asleep! Every day!!!!! When asked when he’s awake oh at 7am!!!!! Wow!!! Are you lying to me? He’s my son I have away to talking to him,. I guess I don’t count because I’m his official father as a mother is Quebec is even though it’s quite clear he’s my son! My husband got autism and he get better by the treatment policy of Douglas. I can say thank for that. And I am very appreciate that my husband get improve in his life by the help and the hard working of every worker over here But the problem is when my husband was locked down in hospital. The doctor don’t event mention the specific period for his stay. And when he see doctor they always said he will come out after few days or after one week. But keep delay his stay after that period. It no good to give the patient and his family a hope and break the hope after. I don’t like to keep waiting my husband without hope!! The patient of the hospital is the client. The worker should keep their credit to their client and improve their work effect so the patient (their client ) will like to work with the hospital for long time

Some very good staff but there is one doctor in weekend urgency who ruin work of those others who listen carefully to you and deny yourself. Also beware of the reception guardian who call police when you insist to get your keys and purse back. they move them to the second floor and tell you he don't have it and don't call you someone to guide you.

I was a patient for the month of February.. followed the """"SMART""" programme for ten weeks .. It has changed my life for the best..The staff were wonderful and very understanding.. and always stop and listen to me .. I have learn many positive techniques to stay healthy.. I continue to be followed and participate to some activities.. The Douglas Mental Health University Institute is a very helpful place and I am not ashamed to tell my friend where I was for the month of February.. without the help of all the staff,I would not be where I am now .. I am now healthier and happier and that there is a beautiful future out there .. Sunshine weather is finally here.. little birds are chirping and the flower are making their appearance .. I was calling to get news from a loved one in hospital, and given the situation (covid), this is the only way to get news (no visits). I think I'm a fairly patient person, but I waited over 1h30 on the phone without speaking to anyone, with their elevator music. I then called back .... same thing. They just don't respond! Unworthy. It wouldn't solve the root of the problem, but don't let people wait in vain on the phone if you know you won't answer - at the very least, put a message to that effect !! It would already be a step in the right direction ... (Original) UPDATE : J'ai modifié mon évaluation de 1 étoile à 4 étoiles. J'ai pu joindre quelqu'un finalement et cette personne a pris le temps de discuter de la situation au téléphone. J'appelais pour prendre des nouvelles d'une proche hospitalisée, et étant donné la situation (covid), c'est la seule façon d'avoir des nouvelles (aucune visite). Je pense être quelqu'un d'assez patient, mais j'ai attendu plus de 1h30 au téléphone sans parler à qui que ce soit, avec leur musique d'ascenceur. J'ai ensuite rappelé....même chose. Ils ne répondent tout simplement pas! Indigne. Cela ne règlerait pas le fond du problème, mais ne laissez pas les personnes attendre comme cela en vain au téléphone si vous savez que vous ne répondrez pas - au minimum, mettez un message en ce sens!! Sadly, didn't have a great experience with this hospital. My brother was assessed there in order to receive services in Canada after being diagnosed overseas with schizophrenia and panic disorder among other things. He met very very briefly with a psychiatrist that determined there was nothing wrong with him! Today, he lives in an old folks home (despite being in his thirties), is heavily medicated, and anyone that spends more than 2 minutes with him can tell he is severely mentally ill. How they missed that baffles me! I wish the assessment could have been more thorough. Perhaps he could have received services that would have led to some sort of rehabilitation. Isn't that the main mission of the Douglas? Today, he is a non-functioning member of society. Similar negative experience with my youngest son. Assessed for ADHD there. The people that work at the clinic are lovely and kind. However, when it was determined that he did indeed have ADHD, nothing was offered except a prescription for medication. No resources for parents, play therapy, music therapy, etc. Nothing. I thought medication was suppose to be last resort? Quebec has the highest rate in Canada of children being medicated for ADHD. I really think they should review their procedures... I'm currently receiving help at the Douglas for my middle son who has anxiety. GIven my past experience , I'm not holding my breath. Very disappointed with this hospital that's supposedly top notch.
