I have been working for blackbird for about 2 months now and so far it's one of the best companies I have worked for. The management is great their friendly, easy to talm to, they offer a great start pay, good pension plan, give flexible hours based off your availability, they acknowledged me in person with a gift card and a prepaid Tim Hortons card for doing my job which goes a long way, the environment/locations is great. I am absolutely disgusted by a recent interaction with one of their staff members. This happened around 3 pm, November 27th at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Victoria BC. My boyfriend and I were doing some Christmas shopping in the cosmetic department. We were relentlessly followed by a security guard. At one point he was even within a foot of my boyfriend staring at him. We frequently shop at this location and the manager of the shoppers location was incredible at calming us down and explained that they are a third party company. I have worked retail for a large portion of my life, and I have even worked at a shoppers as a cosmetic consultant- I have NEVER seen such horrible behaviour. It’s truly a shame as the staff working in cosmetics make commission, and this type of behaviour robs them of this opportunity. I have tried calling Blackbird and the voicemail is full. I am absolutely disgusted by this blatant stereotyping behaviour and will continue to post about this incident. Clearly more training needs to be provided.

I have been shopping at Shoppers Drug Mart on Nelson and Homer in Vancouver for the past 5 years. For the first few years this store was using a security company (I can't remember its name) and the guards and floorwalkers always either seemed disengaged or were so intense that it made me uncomfortable. Since the store switched to Blackbird Security it has really changed the image and environment of the store. The guards are always so friendly, helpful and attentive. The evening guard Byron has especially great customer service, and I hope he gets recognition for this within the company! Also, I went to the Shoppers in Yaletown the other day and a very friendly guard greeted me and asked me if I wanted hand sanitizer. I appreciate how the Blackbird guards are going the extra mile to keep us safe and comfortable. I'm sure as a security company you get mostly harsh reviews so here is one from a satisfied customer, keep up the great work Blackbird Team!

The security guard on duty in the evening until 9pm at Value Village Surrey store #2113 yesterday, May 11, 2021 was so rude and humiliated me infront of everybody just because I quickly ran back at the shelves for few seconds to check if an item is available, while my cart and my sister was actually on qeue waiting for our turn at the cashier. What a terrible customer approach! Too abusive of power and too unprofessional even if everybody is looking! Such an intolerable act of a security guard in such kind of community service-inclined store!

I've been shopping at Safeway on 16th Ave in Calgary for years, its close to home, they always have what I need, however I've always had troubles running into people in the store that make me feel uneasy and unsafe as you can clearly tell they are not in the right state of mind or they are outside begging for money and harassing myself and other customers for spare change or food/drinks. I had a very positive experience as a customer at the Dollarama store in Kamloops on Landsdowne street on Sunday, may 30,2021 at 3pm. I was shopping with my elderly mother, who has stage 2 Alzheimer’s and type 2 Diabetes, as well as my 3 year old. I myself was using a crutch, I had a foot injury. I had a full cart. I had just checked out and was gathering my bags when my mother fainted. I put her on the ground. The other store employees panicked. The Blackbird security guard at the front door came to my aid. He was the only other calm person in the room, other than myself. I instructed him to get me a drink with sugar, he did so quickly, running to grab one off the shelf. I then asked him to get me a bag of gummy candy, he also ran and grabbed one. He quieted and calmed the staff and customers. He created a peaceful setting for my mother to recover in. She had a diabetic attack and needed sugar. This young man was the only one in the room to help and he listened to me. He helped keep my mother safe and maintained a calm, safe work environment. He even paid for the drink and candy for my mother. After a half hour he walked us to my vehicle. He then went in and carried all of my bags to my vehicle. He located my missing wallet as well. It is my belief that BlackBird security hires compassionate, caring, professional individuals. I didn’t expect to receive the level of service given to me that day, it was far superseded. Wow! What an amazing company, led by great managers.Thank you Blackbird security for helping my mother and myself that day, you are an amazing company.
