I wanted to find a friend from university, and I reached out to this company. They were able to locate my friend . No surprises in pricing. I liked how they charged what we discussed in advance. Loved working with them. Super helpful and friendly. It was nice talking with female investigators. I was a bit skeptical at first after talking to some other companies, but after I spoke with this company I felt comfortable. It was obvious they knew what they were doing, and were confident. I was extremely disappointed with the service that I paid for. Not only did the investigation I requested not provide any answers, they were unable to uncover information that I myself discovered from my own home laptop computer! Simple things like finding if a person had a facebook account. The final report I was issued had errors in it that I made the company aware of. I sent an email outlining how little they did for almost $600 and that what they did do was flawed. Yet there was no refund or partial refund offered. I would not have even gone ahead with the investigation if they had been honest with me initially and told me that they did not have any extra skills or abilities to do google searches and look at facebook accounts. I outlined the case to them before hand and they said that they could help yet they couldn't. I feel scammed.

The process of taking the PI course was painless and the course was relatively plain sailing. I completed the course in about 10 days as I fitted it in between my other activities and commitments. You could probably complete it in only 3 or 4 days if you compressed and really focussed. All in all, I'd def recommend this course if you wish to become licensed as a PI or security guard.

My family has a delicate situation with a narcissist so we fear for her well being and the Granbabies. We had used an other investigator that was only ok so after a lengthy conversation( 45 minutes) with the Smith group we thought we could get some help. We explained in an email what we had learned from the prior investigator . So after having lots of info in hand we thought we would get more info as they knew our starting point. we waited several weeks with no reply so we called to check and they said that these things take time and they are doing a check. SO AFTER WE PAID OUR 900 DOLLARS WE GOT A LINKEDIN PICTURE AND A RUDE REPLY THAT THIS WAS ALL THEY COULD FIND????? We questioned the charge because we had already given them this info and more as a starting point. THEY WERE AGAIN RUDE AND HAD NO EMPATHY FOR OUR SITUTATION. SO 900 BUCKS TO LOOK UP A LINKEDIN PROFILE????

The exam test question and answer totally is different I request that regarding ministry test different than your company . The answer is they let me see some other company or Guide to prepare the test , they charge me the fee why they not help . Very disappointed answer .

I took the Private Investigator course through Smith Investigation Agency. Before I signed up for the course, I had some questions. They were very responsive and answered everything I asked (without pressuring me to take the course). The course itself was well organized and very to the point. I was able to finish it in a few weeks. Once you've finished the course, they automatically set you up with the third party that does the testing. I finished on Wednesday and could have written the test the next day. They are very well organized and have great communication. I'd definitely recommend doing your course through them!

I am writing this review to strongly advise against the use of The Smith Investigative Agency for any private investigator needs. Simply put they are like many businesses these days; they are so grateful to offer services to you, make promises that sell you on their service, but in the end once they receive your money, things fall off quite rapidly. I was trying to find my missing family member, who is a bit of a social recluse. With aging parents who miss him dearly I went to The Smith Investigative Agency to use their services to help find him. I was a bit skeptical that they would have any success because of his lifestyle. I provided them with every last bit of information I could provide and certainly answered all of their question as best as I could. I remained skeptical but The Smith Agency assured me that they could find stronger leads and more detailed information, beyond what I could ever uncover myself. They were clear to me that they may not find him, but stated they would certainly uncover a great deal more than I could find on my own. So I decided to go ahead and paid them their fee. What a mistake!! I never received any updates unless I made the effort inquiring on the status of the investigation. Complete silence on their end, unless prompted, and then the excuses started. The first, and only bit, of information I received was a simple 411 search. I had done this already in a 10 minute internet search. They then made the excuse that this was sent to me mistakenly, as the investigation was ongoing. Nonetheless, I never received anything further information. To this point I had also never spoken to anyone on the phone; simply email correspondence. This should have been my first clue. I had then indicated that I wished to speak to someone on the phone to discuss this matter further. They preferred to keep this all done through email to avoid any miscommunication and to keep things well documented. I was quite displeased at this point and consented in writing that our conversations could be recorded on their end, but they preferred to keep things done via email. They then asked for further information. I had told them repeatedly via email (an email chain they failed to follow despite it being their preferred form of communication) that I had given them all the information I had prior to starting this process. This is when things really fell apart. I asked for my money back as they had not achieved even a fraction of what they had said they could. They advised me that there are no refunds, but wanted to continue this useless exercise, and again asked for further information. There emails were disorganized and it was clear that they weren’t following the email chain to really understand what had been done (or not done). I could go on but for the sake of brevity I will not. All they could provide was excuses. I knew definitively at this point that they wouldn’t provide me anything further, but they wanted to continue to make it seem that they were working hard for me and justify the fee I paid. Simply put, I got ripped off. The Smith Investigative Agency are amateurs. They took advantage of me and my situation, made promises they couldn’t keep, and were very disorganized in the process. I ended the investigation and took the loss just to avoid any further association or communication with this company. I should have gone with my gut that they couldn’t find out anything; I believed that they could. Any true professional investigator, I now understand, would have never taken on this case as it was too difficult given the circumstances I presented.

I had a personal matter that I gravely need someone to look into. Don't let my age fool you. I'm not a moron, and what I needed done required the work of a PI and nothing less. After looking through all of my options, I was lead to this agency as, what would initially seem, my best bet. I actually visited the location. Apparently, the work is done in suite 501 for this location, but that is not advertised anywhere there and the actual building only has 3 floors. Virtual offices, much? Will be taking my business elsewhere.

Smith Investigation provides an online Private Investigator Course that gets you successfully to the all important level of obtaining your certified license. There was a small time frame of maintenance to the site, but it was short, they were available to answer queries really professionally and quite frankly I was pleased. The Smith Investigation Agency is the worst! We would never use them again! They only retrieve information you can get yourself free just by googling, or pay $46 on a site like truthfinder for 2 mths of investigation!, Or Checkmate. Smith charges a huge fee and returns little results. If questioned on their lack of information, they are unprofessional and than refuse to issue a refund.
