Excellent service, can't say enough about how fast they took care of our emergency and how kind every one was. Especially Dr Robert's. I will never go anywhere else!
Waiting time is ridiculous. Had to wait 30 minutes for my appt, another 20 for the doctor. Then I had to go to another room an d wait again. The entire process was about 2 hours. As if that wasn't bad enough, when I went to pick up my contacts another 30 minute wait, which was pretty much my last straw. Unless you have lots of time to wait available, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. Every other place I have been to, you just pick up your contacts. I work, so I have to take PTO for things like this.
2nd time going to this place for eye exam. First time was not so great but this time much better. Waited a long time to see doctor the first visit (50 min.) this time it took about 10 min. I don't mind the wait because the staff and the doctor are great!
First time going to see Dr Shaible; very thorough and knowledgeable!!! My husband had previous Cataract & glacoma issues.
Love this place, Dr. S was terrific. He did some joking around which eased tensions i was having. He was very thorough and explaned things very well. He was very helpful and understanding. Thanks Dr. S.
I wanted to get the latest prescription for my Oakley sun glasses. My experience was horrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I only wish I had the whole episode on video.
So I wait 2 weeks on my glasses that I ended paying $680 with insurance to find out they weren’t prescribed right, I cancelled 2 of my clients today so I lost more money and when I asked for my money back they told me they don’t refund “even that is their fault” and I have to schedule another appointment for reviewing the prescription they did wrong, now I have to wait one more month for their eyes doctor to see me again?? And they suggested me extended 2 years warranty on my glasses for extra money but the warranty is already running even I still don’t have my glasses ready to wear. They just care about taking the money and nothing else!! STAY AWAY From Community Eyes Clinic Port Charlotte.
I just had Cataract Surgery the team was awesome all the way around from the nurses to the Doctors. The staff called after eye was done to see if I was alright but then the Dr. called also later that night. I felt like a family member not just a patient I was made to feel at home before and after. Would recommend them for any body I saw Doctor Spadafora and he is both funny and good at making you feel comfortable. Thank You All
I had my regular yearly eye exam with Dr. Batzer in April, 2019. Just want to praise Dr. Batzer’s eye assistant, Patty, that conducted my exam, & gave me my prescription for terrific new glasses! My vision has never been clearer! Patty wasvery engaging, informative & extremely helpful. She made my exam the most pleasant experience I have ever had at the eye doctor’s. Thank you, Patty!
Their staff are slow. And unpatiant, plus we were their for 3 hours just to get frames. THEY SUCKKKKK.
Been here twice. I love it, everyone is SO nice and helpful!!
Moved to FL in Oct. In mid Nov. Called for appt. Scheduled one for Jan. Got call in Dec. Doctor wouldn't be available. Rescheduled Feb. Couple days ago again doctor won't be available. Rescheduled for late Mar. Told them to cancel. In Jan called someone else and got in next day. Something wrong with that picture. Won't be going here and would not recommend.
Went to my eye exam that I made over a month ago, I get there and the front desk woman says "we had issues with your insurance when you set up the apt, do you have your insurance card?" And still had issues, I call my insurance and they said there was a hiccup on their end and it would be fixed within an hour. Why the hell didn't Community Eye Center contact me within the last month I've had the apt?! They wait to tell me as I'm standing at the front desk, missing work and yet called numerous times and sent apt reminders in the mail. Never again! Not professional at all
Professional, friendly people. Made my two cataract surgeries a piece of cake.
Will never return here again. If you like feeling like cattle lining up to be branded, then this is the place for you. It's one of those places that line 'em up and push 'em through. The 'assistant' (I really don't know what her credentials were) did my examination. All of about 3 clicks of is this one better than... Then put drops in my eyes. The Dr. finally arrived to do the examination of the insides then I was ushered out to the Optical part of the cattle barn to choose my frames. My new highly anticipated glasses arrived about 4 days ahead of schedule. Yea!! From the moment I put them on I knew they weren't correct. I told the Optician "These aren't right, I can see better out of my old ones." He said to go ahead and wear them a few days so my eyes will adjust to them. I'm sorry, but I've never in my 63 years had a new pair of lenses that weren't clearer and sharper than my old lenses with all the scratches. I argued some more, but to no avail. So, I did as I was told. After 3 days, I called back. I had severe eye fatigue and headaches. The assistant called me back and said, well try these eye drops, they may help because you eyes are kinda dry. They were unwilling to do anything about the problem which is the lenses aren't correcting my vision they way they should. They were not willing to see me again at that point. And I wasn't sure I wanted to go back because they probably still wouldn't be right. Why does the assistant do the examination? I thought I was paying for an eye doctor. Now I am out my insurance for another year and will be wearing my old lenses until I can go someplace else in a year. Do not go to this cattle farm.
Assembly line medicine at its worst. My tech PJ was great. In my opinion this place is far below her level of professionalism. When I wanted to discuss my case after exam I was pushed to an arrogant, condescending, dismissive tech 'Jen' who was described as Dr. Cheryl Simoneau's "assistant", to communicate through. Not only could I not talk to my doctor (or even PJ who I had questions for), without making another appointment according to this person Jen, but she was also giving her medical opinions, hence practicing medicine, which is illegal as I understand it, and implied that my problem was in my mind. My girlfriend and neighbors had witnessed my issue for a week. So, though the preliminary rote exam was thorough, they did not care to listen to what I had to add on my behalf for my heslth sake. Their diagnosis is just plain wrong, and they are not interested in solving a mystery. I dared to question thier findings/impressions! Community Eye Center is business/profit first, ego second, patient Dead Last. They want to move us through like cattle. The ambience is that of a clinic.
My wife had cataract surgery at CEC. She was very nervous, as most are I'm sure. But from the time we got to the office on the big day, the staff was so friendly and understanding she was immediately put at ease. The surgery was quick, painless and most importantly a success! Thanks to all at CEC!
Definitely overbooked. While the staff was friendly and seemed competent, the doctors spend as little time as humanly possible doing your eye exam and any subsequent patient interaction since there are 5 other patients that they’re already 15 minutes late to seeing. My real issue with CEC is that this place is the King and I mean the absolute King of the hidden charge. The last 3 years they ‘find’ other charges that you get a bill for a month later...after being told at the initial appointment that you are paid in full. I have great insurance that pays well. I wonder how many people they get to pay without ever questioning the ‘new found’ charges. We are moving on to greener pastures. I would NOT recommend Community Eye Center, not for lack of ability of the eye staff, but a lack of integrity in the billing department. But it all works together doesn’t it? Update: Read the reply below for the ‘standard’ damage control’ statement from the incompetent billing staff. AND FOR THE RECORD...ONE MORE TIME....MY WIFE DID NOT GET CONTACTS THIS TIME, SHE GOT GLASSES! YOU ARE NOT LISTENING. This is precisely the runaround that I was talking about. The condescending attitude is the best part. The WORST customer service on the planet. Please, find better eye care, you can do better than this place.
The chaos level in this office was so great that I couldn't wait to leave, I left and didn't order glasses or contacts.
Had an 8:30 appointment for eye exams and to see Dr .Spadafora. Eye tests were conducted right away by Sarah who was cheerful and efficient. Sent back out at 9:10 to wait to see the doctor. At 10 I was called back to see the doctor and eyes were dialated a second time before I saw him as I had been sitting so long. I saw the doctor for 5 minutes at most and told to come back in 6 months as I am on the watch list for glaucoma. This is an inefficient operation. I will give this office one more chance. If no improvement I will find a new eye doctor. No excuse to be this far behind at 8 in the morning and in the summer with no seasonal guests to contend with.
After an eye exam at Community Eye Center, I had Lasik to both eyes in November, 2015 at St Lucy Eye Surgery Center, next door. The doctor and all assistants were very nice and the preparation and procedure was easy to deal with. Pre-op discussed the procedure and likelihood that I would have to use readers, which I was fine with. I am disappointed that I still cannot read street signs at a short distance and have to use bi-focals or separate glasses for reading and another pair for driving and watching tv. My out of pocket expense was close to $1,000 and feel I maybe should have had a better outcome.
Horrible, worse care my mother has received ever! Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Do not care about anything but billing your insurance company, certainly not their patient's wellbeing. Dr. Spadafora's nurse actually left my mother's IV line in after her surgery, I had to take her back at which time they jerked it out in the dirty parking lot!! My mother received an infection in her eyes unfortunately on top of that, this place needs shut down!!
Super Amazing people here. Very much like working with them. Very professional curtious and kind. We are remodeling the inside with new cabinets and flooring a little bit at a time.
I love this place..the doctors are very nice and I love it when I come inside and the nurses greet me. This is one of the most trusted eye Care places that I will go every time I have an eye problem. Thank you guys you take really good care of your patience.
Ruined my good eye site. I have to wear glasses all the time when awake. I really want to have a correction done. All that the Doctor was concerned with, was my insurance.
I brought my own Frame's was told 600.00 for the Lenses with Transition, Glare Resistant and Bifocals. I asked for my script and he says well we have top of the line lenses. It's like you can go to Dollar Tree or you can go to Macy's.. Well you know what you can do go Screw someone else. Never again will I even recommend someone to that place. Down the road bought lenses with everything for 300.00. Check out Family Eye Center everyone. Great Prices. Half of what they we're going to charge. RIP OFF.
The customer service via phone could use some work.. :/
Sorry me Had Cateract Surgery 3/17 /18 Left eye cann6 see No Vision all !!!!! No explanation all. Now what °°°?? IM LEFT WITH NO VISION. °!!!!!!
The doctors are so compassionate and take suck care and consideration when listening to patients. Love everything about this practice.
All about the money. Treated like a number. Continue to being sent bills 6 months later being called leftovers from insurance deductibles after paying there difference in guestiment. Entire experience felt like a slimey used car lot. Go see Dr Quigley. Sorry for any misspelling as I can’t see. Maybe spend less money on stupid tv adds and be reasonable to your customers.
Right off the bat, I was greeted at the door and seated with someone to help me with the paperwork. I was given the most thorough eye exam I ever had in my life. I was given all my options and the costs associated with the options and when I saw the surgeon for cataract surgery set up, he explained to me how I could get the best benefit from the surgery with only my copay for the cost. Love this place. I always went to the discount eyeglass places in the past because I could only afford cheap lenses and glasses. When I found out this was on my provider list I figured I'd give it a try. So glad I did.
Love the cozy office and the warm smiling faces! Will return.
Excellent doctors.
It took 9 phone calls and 5 days to get the receptionist and medical assistant to send in a simple prescription order. Their recording says they put their patients first but they won’t follow up on recorded messages or return calls, which is about the only way you can communicate with them. Awful...
I went because of all of the good reviews. Everyone was right, these are some caring people and they're very helpful.
A long kept Florida secret. I frequented this location for years, but now I visit Community Eye Center in Venice. These eye doctors know what they are doing and are great. They are the kindest set of doctors around, in my opinion.
Had wonderful experience having 2 cataracts replaced over 2 weeks. Cannot say enough about the professional process and how wonderful everyone was. Would recommend highly!
David Jones from the Community Eye Center in Port Charlotte is a ROCK STAR! He not only fixed my broken frames but was able to confirm that the new frames I desired were covered by my insurance (even when I was told by another person on a previous visit at this same center that the frames I wanted weren’t covered by my insurance). He’s simply the best in the business!
Very impressed with Dr. Liss and assistant Nina.
Excelential!! Yes I made up a word for the awesomeness of these doctors!
I had an awesome experience with Community Eye Center. I would highly, highly recommend them to anyone for all of your eye care. Dr. Batzer is a wonderful physician, thorough, professional and friendly. I had cataract surgery yesterday and everyone was just terrific. The nursing staff are amazing in that they see to your every need and comfort. Dr. Schaible and Dr. Baskind were just awesome. Dr. Schaible was kind, friendly and kept me informed about what was happening. I was nervous and anxious but they put me at ease. I have another surgery next week and I know I am in good hands. Thank you all so very much for making this a positive experience. I will be singing praises for you all. Bless you!!!
I had cataract surgery here yesterday. Every one was extremely caring and professional. I was very apprehensive and scared but the nurses and doctors were very compassionate and reassuring I have never had a bad experience here or in the Venice office . I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my appointments. I would highly recommend them.
Always treated just like family! Top notch!
Very pleasant, painless, and Doctor Tyler Roberts, is very pleasant, informative and answered all my questions.
In December of 2019 I saw thee optometrist for my routine visit as I have done every year for the last several years. I was given an eyeglass prescription, my cataracts were discussed, and I was sent on my way. Because I only have vision in one eye I wanted the most advanced cataract specialist available and chose someone else to do my surgery. Boy am I glad I did. Turns out i have bilateral retinal issues that were never detected by this optometrist. These issues could have eventually had me going blind. That is what happens when you are only a number in a place that is more interested in the number of patients seen rather than actually taking time with a patient. I have had appointments with this optometrist for the last three years and I guarantee that I have spent a total of maybe 15 minutes with this person in all that time. I believe that this whole system at Community Eye Centers is a negligent system and am surprised that there have not been more lawsuits against them. I hate to give them even one star.
Love the place... was always warm but the new renovations are cold..
convenience was important in my decision. was quickly ran through the processed of being a new patient candidate for cataract surgery. greeted by an older gentleman for induction to get more, have to spend more. was pressured into 2nd category of lenses with laser cataract surgery procedure. later found out it wasn't needed for me. just hep never had the surgery since the anesthesiologist went radical because of a so called AFib off his & her EKG. By second opinion from Doctor's from New England, I am now at another eye surgery clinic. they never explained my options for anesthesia, which are 10 to choose, the real choice of eye lenses and how they perform the procedure. they were nice to me and gave me attention. my only concern was that they are not organized, no policy & procedures and I can imagine there insurance malpractice suites. they have a wonderful operation. just need a business administrator to help them run smoothly.
My first experience with Community Eye Center was to get new glasses. I learned more from the Optician David Jones than I have in all my years of getting fit for glasses. It was a wonderful experience and it was very clear he was extremely knowledgeable and cared for my getting the best fit. I also want to thank Tammy who kept track of my order and kept me informed. She was so friendly, positive and helpful. Thank you!!
DO NOT MAKE AN APPT HERE Assemble line medicine at its worst. Old, outdated equipment and poorly trained staff. Waited over two hours and never even got an opportunity to discuss my problem with the doctor. He was too busy moving on to the patient.
I'm sitting in the examination room right now writing this review. The place is big, clean, and impressive. The problem is, I have an appointment for 9:10; the doctor finally walks in at 10:41.
Quick and easy appointment for contacts! I didn't wait to see the doctor. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than those 1-hour big chain places.
I had taken my son here with a eye problem, had a little problem with first visit back in June but I would like to ad as of 8/15/2019 We have resolved our issue! I had talked to Irvin and was sent to see Dr Mishra and I can not say enough good things about him! He had seen my son twice, and although he did not have a answer to his problem he did explain why he didn't. I would recommend him very highly. I want to thank Irvin for taken time with me and talking this out.
Took my mom to her appointment here. The parking lot was tiny and jam packed. More parking in the back. Totally full. Finally got a spot and ripped my bumper off on the concrete in front of the spot because it was up closer than the other spots next to it. Get inside and the waiting room is practically empty. Then they send you to a “waiting hallway” jam-packed with people. Waited there for 20 minutes after our appointment time. No too bad. Turns out Thursday is Retina day, when the specialist comes. However our lady was great! She was very helpful and so nice to my mom!
I had my cataract surgery recently with Dr. Liss. He is wonderful. I felt so comfortable with him and the staff. He explained everthing tnat was going to happen and why and talked to me during the surgury and before. I highly recommend Dr. Liss and Community Eye. Every one is knowledgeable and pleasant and the center amd surgury unit are so clean. Thank you for my wonderful eye sight. I hardly need glasses at all. What a gift. Sincerely, Elizabeth Penney.
My experience at community eye center has me question their slogan “ I care”. After paying a great deal of extra money for cataract surgery to avoid wearing corrective lenses my vision is worse then before my procedure! After many visits back to the center, that included more surgery (piggy back lens inserted ) and many more procedures, my eyesight deteriorated even more. The doctor even cut into my eye twice. Once it was done with a student present to observe. The doctor I felt was getting frustrated with my case and sent me to a retina specialist at my last visit. However, he previously told me that he wouldn’t recommend more surgery. Having lost confidence, I decided to get 2 second opinions. One of these was out of Charlotte County and the other one out of state. After both doctors reviewed my records and examined my eyes, they both told me that I’m extremely lucky to see as well as I can. My tennis game has been affected and I don’t enjoy a great deal of other activities as much as I should. The other doctors told me that they would never have inserted the type of lens that was used. Neither of them agreed with the cuts to my left eye. Coincidently, I have spoken to 3 other patients who are very disappointed with their vision after surgery. I’m so sorry I ever trusted the doctor at community eye center and can no longer listen to their I care ads on the radio and on television.
not organized! An hour behind then i had to wait an half hour to check out. They do not care about your time. Wost eye experince i ever had!
Dr. Simoneau and Jennifer are the best!!! They are friendly and very professional and caring. I have been a patient for 10 years and I would not go anywhere else!
Just want to thank the great people at Community Eye Center for the great eye care we have been receiving. Dr Mishra and Dr Liss are really tops at what they do and always treat the patient right. Special thanks to Mr David Jones who always gets my eyeglass needs just right. He really knows his stuff and works very hard to make things perfect. Thanks to all the Staff also.
The eye doctor did a good job. However he sent me to the optical department (David Jones) took my glasses I need for reading plus over $300.00. I paid $700 for the glasses at community eye center sever years ago. I called and called and no one would return my calls. Finally I went back to community eye center. The reason they did not return my calls was they lost my glasses and tried to give me glasses that were not mine. (which remain in their possession). They now have $1000.00 dollars of mine. I talked to the center manager (James Kane). He backed up the optical center. I am 72 years old and am now wearing drug store glasses because I cannot afford to buy brand new glasses. I was taken advantage of by community eye center in Port Charlotte Punta Gorda Florida.
I had surgery to remove a cataract. The whole team at CEC is terrific! From the front people to all the OR staff at St. Lucy's, a huge Thank You. You are the best.
I was preparing to call and schedule when I jumped down to reviews. I had read reviews on another web browser and was going to schedule with Dr Roberts. I have to say, the front and back office have to work in tandem to create a patient centered approach to healthcare. It is obvious by all of these recent one star reviews that is not the case here so I will not be risking it. To top it off, taking advantage of the elderly is just wrong. Get Mr Earl McMullin his glasses, and maybe a free eye exam as a first step to turning your horrific customer service record around. In the meantime I’ll make the drive to Cape Coral.
My very elderly parents who are on a fixed income purchased glasses costing them $500.00. There was a coating on them that within the first year crackled and peeled. My father brought them in to be fixed and was told there was nothing that could be done because they didn't know what caused it, therefore they excepted no responsibility.
Community Eye Center is a wonderful place filled with knowledgeable staff and doctors. My last visit was full of various tests, and everyone took such good care of me. Staff even took the time to figure out which insurance option would be best for me (health insurance vs. eye insurance). I also felt like the office was running smoothly and everyone was in such a delightful mood. That speaks volumes – especially during a pandemic. Speaking of which…they were following all the necessary precautions to make sure everyone was safe. Great job! As for my eye doctor – two rocking thumbs up (and an A+++!). Dr. Spadafora is one of the most knowledgeable and caring doctors I’ve ever had. He spent time with me checking my eyes and teaching me about all I could ever want to know (and more) about eyes. ???? He’s great about bringing the technical language to English so to speak too. I also find him very calming and patient. One of the tests-not sure if that’s what you call it, but he was checking my eyes with some device and I kept blinking and causing it to fall out. He was so patient and chatted away which helped keep my mind preoccupied. I also love that he’s involved in the community. He participates in science fairs and always offers to help with science related events at our schools. Thank you Dr. Spadafora and Community Eye Center! You’re awesome!
They don’t work well with return calls. I’ve been trying to get the right contacts prescription sent to me and they always say they’ll call me back and never do. Couldn’t be bothered to call me when 800-Contacts called to verify, didn’t read my notes in my account properly, and declined my order. She told me she was gonna send a fax to them to fix it but she didn’t and now I have to wait for the weekend to be over. Edit: Never happened. Called back several times, had someone asleep and promise they were gonna get someone for me and then sent me to a voicemail. Called back and got immediately hung up on. Took forever to get someone to just send me a copy of my prescription and she sent the wrong one. I had been coming here off and on since I was 22, not ever again.
Had a serious concern about my vision this morning , called and got in @ 9:15 am today, they ran some tests. I Saw Dr. O'neil who did a complete workup. Reassured me that everything was fine. Fantastic! Thanks to all the great people @ Community Eye Center.
I made an appointment a month ago for next month. They cancled on me and wanted to book for three months later! Then hung up on me and never called me back.
I recently saw Dr. Memoli regarding driving concerns with my depth perception and my mono-vision contacts. She listened intently and discussed my concerns. I did not want to take out my contacts whenever I was going to drive. She came up with an innovative approach and prescribed driving glasses with a corrective prescription only for one eye and a clear lens for the other eye. It worked perfectly!! My vision is clearer and my depth perception has improved. I am now more secure when driving. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Memoli! She knows her stuff!
I was completely pleased with Community Eye Center. Every person who has helped me has been knowledgeable and pleasant. I recommend them highly.
Wait times are unacceptable. I have provided transportation to someone on three occasions, in which I waited more than three hours. They are not allowing anyone other than the patient in the waiting area, so the wait is in your car in 100 degree weather. I would not recommend.
DR. Roberts was amazing, great personality! I love it. Christina, the assistant, was awesome as well :) it was an easy process. In and out. I really recommend this place???? :)
Excellent! So professional.
So I call up and they answer and ask me to hold on a moment. No big deal. All of a sudden I am disconnected and I called back and they decided to close. I will never be a customer of this office due to how rudely I was treated. To the office staff, do yourself a favor and learn some customer service and I hope you are treated as rudely as I was so you understand.
Very through. Very professional. Dr. Roberts is awesome. His people where as good. The optician I'm seeing now after the doctor is very through. He explains everything. His name is David. I highly recommend him. Get your eye needs met in one building. Highly recommended
Good first visit exam, but would have been much better if they allowed the option to enter my medical history on-line as most offices do. Very nice Medical Assistant helping me, but he was too brand new at the job to absorb the paper records that I had carefully provided with succinct details on my previous eye exams, procedures and various measurements. So I am not sure they have my history accurate in their electronic record now. Also surprised they didn't take retinal photographs as most clinics would for new patients with my conditions.
Had a good visit. It was a little busy in the waiting room, but I got in pretty quick and everyone was friendly.
