Over the past 7 months, I have had two major cosmetic surgeries with dr Alfanso at the bengston surgery center. I can't say enough about Dr. Bengtson. I went to his office over 6 years ago for a consultation for plastic surgery. I had never been put under anesthesia or had any surgeries before. So it took me a long time to finally pull the trigger to have the surgery done. Every single person on Dr. B's staff went above and beyond from the receptionist, to the nurses, to the anesthesiologist, to Dr. B himself. They knew I was nervous about having the procedure done and took extra care to make sure I felt at ease. On top of that, my surgery turned out wonderfully (which I had no doubt it would since I had researched Dr. B well in advance). His surgery time and recovery time are leaps and bounds above other surgeons, as well as my results are fabulous. I was up and out to dinner the evening of my surgery. I went home, took an hour nap and was back to life as usual. For a first timer to this sort of thing, it was a breeze so I felt compelled to share my experience as I feel there are other women out there who feel the same as I did. A + in my book!!

I had been researching for several years trying to find the best place to go for my replacement / revision surgery. Location was not a factor for me, I checked from the west coast through to the east coast since I knew this surgery could have complications due to a questionable implant and a capsular contraction. The website and reviews on the Bengston center initially grabbed my attention. The feedback was all positive and the presentation was very professional. I sent a message to schedule a consultation hoping what was presented online carried over in person. When I arrived to the Bengston Center I was pleasantly surprised. Their facility was top notch and instilled confidence. They take their profession very seriously and go out of their way to make sure you are not just taken care of, but pampered. The staff were all very professional, warm, and accommodating. Dr. Bengston took ample time with my husband and I to explain exactly what was going on and what the surgery would entail. I felt very comfortable and very confident so proceeded with surgery. The day of surgery went very smoothly, and Dr. Bengston met with my husband while I was in recovery to keep him updated and let him know everything went smoothly. My recovery was quick and fairly painless. Much of this can be attested to Dr. Bengston being delicate in the surgical procedure. The end result is everything I had hoped for, I'm no longer self conscious over a part of my body looking damaged.

I have never had any sort of cosmetic or non-surgical procedures done before coming to the Bengtson Center. The staff are all super friendly and a lively bunch. I had my first of two MiraDry treatments done and Alicia was great and made me feel really comfortable. The two nurse practitioners who had to numb me were also super kind. It is somewhat of an awkward procedure and I was a little self conscious but Alicia made me laugh multiple times and did not make me feel bad for needing to be numbed an additional time for comfort. I DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY recommend this procedure to anyone who has lived with excessive sweating. I went shopping over the weekend and bought white, maroon, and grey shirts. I just wore a tight colored (yes not black) shirt to work without a cardigan for the first time ever and I had basically zero sweat on it. I have cried multiple times from happiness and can’t wait to get my second treatment to maximize the reduction in underarm sweat. Seriously life-changing and thank you Alicia for making it happen!

Dr. Bengtson explained with great detail my expected results and I scheduled the procedure. For the last couple of years I have been noticing my hair seems to be thinning and I wanted to stay on top of this before it got too bad. I did a lot of research into different treatment options and had numerous consults at other practices to see my options and get quotes. When I had my appointment with Katrina, she broke everything down that I needed to do to not only keep what hair I had left, but also get back what I had lost already. She explained to me that hair restoration takes a lot of time and patience but if I stick with the treatment plan, I will start seeing results. We started with light therapy and PRP treatments along with proper at home hair care products and supplements. I am happy to say that after only 6 months of being on the regimen she started me on, I have not only stopped losing my hair but have seen an increase in the density also. I no longer am able to see my scalp peeking through at my hairline and can not wait to see even more results. What once was my biggest insecurity I no longer give a second thought. My first impression of The Bengston Center was relatively disappointing. As with any medical office, the receptionist plays a vital role in contributing to each patient’s experience during their visit. Upon entering The Bengston Center for my appointment, I was not welcomed by any of the several receptionists. Behind the counter were about five employees; one employee appeared to be checking a patient out, another who appeared to be giving a patient information, and a couple other employees who appeared to be scheduling appointments for patients. It felt like chaos. Not so much what I was expecting for my first experience. While one employee was on the phone and several other employees appeared to be either caught up in their own work or tending to their other patients, I felt lost and overwhelmed. There was no welcome or acknowledgement for quite some time. I went ahead and had to ask someone standing next to me where to check in or whom to check in with. A reminder for any professional office- the front desk receptionist personnel can either make or break someone’s experience in their facility.

After 19 years of hating only one part of my body after having two children, I made a decision at 42 to seek out a consultation for a tummy tuck. After meeting with Dr. Alfonso and his nurse, who by the way has been my life line through my experience, I was ready to finally change that part of my body. During my consolation Dr Alfonso listened to how I felt about my body, my loves and hates and helped me make an informed decision on what was best for my body. My surgery day was filled with anxiety due to COVID and the new rules about visitors but as soon as the staff met me at the door I calmly looked at my husband and said “I’ll see you in a bit”. The surgery staff was amazing, caring, professional and compassionate getting me ready and explaining how the day would go which helped me stay calm for this big surgery and change. I must say, having a registered nurse with me before I went back to surgery and when I woke up from surgery helped me know I was in good hands the entire time. Dr. Alfonso came in a talked with me a couple of times before I went into surgery not only to make his marks but also just to see how I was doing mentally and emotionally. At home the first day my husband said he knew exactly what to do and what to expect because the nurse had called him with discharge instructions while I was in surgery. The night of my surgery Dr. Alfonso called me himself to check on how I was doing. He listened to what I was experiencing with some of the pain medications and told me to let them know in the morning how I was doing. I ended up either calling, texting or emailing Dr. Alfonso’s nurse Jillian a lot the first 5 days with questions, concerns and just being a worried worm! Dr. Alfonso, Jillian and the clinical staff were always available and always made me feel like I was doing the right think reaching out with my concerns. I remember the moment I was able to look at my results and emotion swept over me. The belly pouch that I had spent so much time and energy on hiding was gone and a new, improved version of MY body had emerged. I am now 12 weeks post op and my results are still changing and improving with only more positive changes to come. This is the first summer in 19 years that I was able To dress how I wanted and feel beautiful and complete. This was a new place I wanted so much to call “my go to“ but it’s not! I spent over $5k just to get tear trough filler. It started with, let’s do a laser treatment to remove some of these small veins that show/don’t show and these 2 freckles that are right on the troughs line. Then, we can start with filler, begin small then follow up with a visit in 4 weeks. Every time you get a visit, you get an injection fee in addition to the product fee. After my final follow up, I was told I could use a touch up and that Meredith could still see my concerns so not a big deal but she wanted Dr. B to come and see if there was anything more that could be done. Dr. B came in and said let’s do some laser treatment which I said I already did? After that, he suggested some other things and that I could make an appointment. You would think I would have had Meredith, my P.A. come in to chat but nope nothing! In fact, I left feeling so disappointed and disgusted that I emailed Meredith and to this day, almost 2 months later no reply. In fact, when my daughter went there a couple weeks ago, she mentioned that it would be nice if she would contact me. Nope... Nothing! Still not happy and a waste of money. All the suggestions were just ways to get more money. Someone once told me something I will never forget, people are more important than money. I don’t know why I’m surprised people will act fake to make money. That’s how I feel. A real kind human who cared about their patients would have reached out, instead I was ignored!

I just had a Circumferential Abdominoplasty with a Breast Lift with Dr. Alfonso a week ago. Every step of my journey has been incredible! The clinical staff that assisted with my consult were so kind and informative. Dr. Alfonso explained each procedure so well and alleviated any nervousness I had to move forward to schedule surgery. I really can’t say enough about the personal care you receive from the nurses and staff at the Bengtson center. Someone really did their homework when they did the hiring and training at this office! There’s a considerable amount of anxiety associated with any surgery a patient may choose to have. The nurses are so well trained to help minimize that along with the professionalism and knowledge they have is priceless! They answered all my questions and responded to all my emails as if I was the only patient they had to worry about. It really was amazing! The front desk staff was extremely friendly. They went above and beyond to send a package priority mail so I received it the next day! l also would like to mention the young lady with the dark hair that checked me in for my surgery. She was so welcoming. She asks us questions about my husbands military service and just seemed genuine about our conversation. It really did reduced some of the stress I was feeling about my surgery. I like the people that work here - Katrina is great. My beef is with the office policies - $50.00 for a missed appointment. I didn't cancel my appointment as I was feeling very ill, and just forgot due to the focus on my illness. They charged my credit card they had on file - and wouldn't give me a credit on later services after I asked. I have never missed an appointment in the past and I have spent thousands of dollars here, and I resent the principle of a $50 missed appointment fee after only one infraction. I will take my business elsewhere, there are plenty of options in Grand Rapids. Furthermore their prices are exorbitant compared to other facilities that offer the same services

First impressions are important to me as a consumer. I had a consultation with Dr Bengston. We discussed a breast lift and I indicated I am interested in also reducing the size of my breast. He insisted that we could reduce the size, but then in the same breath he limited the size of the reduction we can do based on not increasing the cost. That is where he lost me. Why was he focused on cost? I want results. Who pays 10,000 for a procedure to get two-thirds of their desired look? He did ask if I was currently employed. In which I answered, no. That’s irrelevant when someone is paying cash without financing. He seemed nice, but the preconceived notions were obvious and a bit of turn off. The staff overall seemed nice as well.

I picked your facility based on reviews.. yesterday I had a procedure. I had Juvederm filler.. I have had it done before many years ago understanding procedures change. When we were ready to get started she said she was going to setup.. she knew I was coming.. why wasn’t she ready?.. she didn’t come back for 10-15 minutes.. too long .I believe she was on a phone call.. I could hear her thru the wall.. Then instead of just injecting at the site the filler should be & manipulating it in place.. a candula was used in both sides.. again, procedures do change.. but doing it that way caused 4 dark bruises on my chin!.. I was too emotional to go to work today.. I had to go buy some cover up so I can work Friday.. Lastly I saw no difference after it was done.. I was told to wait some time.. as like the 1st time I thought the results would show right away.. also at consultation we discussed areas that would be best to fill to get desired results & then that amount doubled at my appointment time I’m rather distraught
