I went to see Dr.Schuringa after my family doctor diagnosed me with having a trigger finger. He never once evaluated my finger, he pressed on the palm of my hand and said "Yup it's a trigger finger" he then proceeded to give me a cortisone shot and sent me on my way. I felt rushed out of the office, he didn't ask questions or seem to care at all. The cortisone shot did nothing for the lump in my finger and the pain got worse. My family doctor said the next step was surgery so I asked to see a different doctor after having a less than satisfactory visit at Handworx. I was referred to a plastic surgeon who told me in less than 5 seconds that I didn't have a trigger finger, I in fact had a ganglion cyst. He drained the cyst and I have been pain free ever since. I encourage Dr.Schuringa to do a proper consult/physical and maybe things like this wouldn't happen.

Doctor Jewer is great! However, terrible front desk service and communication. Very difficult to reach the office as they do not seem to answer their phones. I understand that they had relocated so I sent emails hoping for a response. However, their office has not returned my calls or replies to emails in over a month. We left messages and emails that went unanswered regarding important forms. There does not seem to be a sense urgency for patient care outside of the procedure room.

Very poor quality service.

Very happy with multiple appointments on different occassions with Dr. Schuringa. I have seen him for carpal tunnel and so has my daughter for a Broken wrist. I couldnt be happier with him and his staff. Thanks

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Peter Schuringa. I went in, unsure as to what was happening with my right hand; very swollen, numb and painful. I had recently been diagnosed with mild carpal tunnel in the hand (by another doctor) but what I was experiencing was awful... Dr. Peter Schuringa wanted to help me as soon as possible, and we opted to do the carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand a week later. Although extremely hesitant and nervous, the surgery was over before I knew it and the healing process began. It was a longer surgery recovery, and some days were really hard. But having had the surgery in December and it now being the end of April, I couldn't be happier as it's as though I haven't had the surgery at all. My hand is back to 100%!* *Note I did have other factors that made my recovery much longer than the typical person. I highly recommend Dr. Schuringa and the staff at Handworx!!

5 weeks, no returned emails or phone messages after dozens of attempts by phone and multiple emails requesting responses. It is a major problem in patient care. If you need forms signed for disability at work, I recommend that you consider a different clinic.

Handworkx - Waterloo is easily amoung the worst factions of Ontario's Private health sector. After being referred to the location by a physician at Grand River Hospital, Handworkx was supposed to call me within 3 business days. Fast forward 4 weeks - I have called 4 times, left 2 messages and still no response. Today (Monday October 17th, 2016) I call again - I finally get an appointment and skip my afternoon classes to walk 5 Km there. Once I get there I was met with very poor reception, whom failed to tell me the Dr. was still in surgery and wasn't even in the building! I then waited 50 minutes past my original appointment time and then decided that this office and their customer service has failed at providing adequate service. Simply put - Handworkx displayed nothing more than poor manners to a willing customer.

Great experience at Handworx! I've been dealing with a thumb problem for close to a year (probably too long). The hand therapist, Adrienne, took the time to look at x-rays previously taken and did a thorough physical exam on my thumb. We've decided on a plan of action that I'm happy with and look forward to completing.

I have had multiple finger/hand surgeries from the team at this clinic and the staff are amazing. The whole team is welcoming (the administrative staff are wonderful!!), knowledgeable, caring.....took a lot of time to explain issues and listen to my concerns. I recently had a surgery on my arm for what was thought to be a malignant lesions and Dr. Jewer was so caring, calming, patient.....explained all the options, issues and possible outcomes. I have had 6 procedures over the past 5 years, performed by 3 different surgeons affiliated with this clinic and all of them have been superior in their care and practice.

Dr. Schuringa did a wonderful consult, scheduled a quick surgery and took care of my 3 trigger fingers in one go. Followup was a breeze and my hand is completely healed. (2014) 4 stars because I've been referred to this office for a different trigger finger issue (2019) and my Dr's office has not received any response from anyone in that office over the past 2 months. I understand that there are 2 other doctors there now. I would appreciate some feedback.

The care was good, no real complaints there, aside from having to be shuffled room to room to room.

Very poor quality service

The people are wonderful. The Doctor has a good sense of humor. The hand casts are a little pricey.

Great friendly staff, and knowlegable. Helped me with two broken wrist bones. No more pain, I was worried i would lose strength in my hand/arm but everything is great. Thanks to all!!

I am writing this review on behalf of my mother....... 20 years too late... Dr. Schuringa is a DISGRACE to the medical community. My mother, had a horrendous elbow replacement done by Schuringa, 20 years ago. She specifically asked if he had prior elbow replacement experience. He had reassured her that he did. Only to find out, after he butchered her elbow, resulting in a second corrective surgery, that my mom was his first elbow replacement patient. The corrective surgery did not help. Schuringa replaced my mom’s elbow with a teenager’s elbow. It’s a crying shame that this person is still practicing medicine. For the past 20 years my mom has suffered discomfort & lack of strength from the elbow replacement that this Dr botched.

Dr. Jewer is amazing she did both my hands for carpul tunal and everything went very smoothly and made me always feel very comfortable and explained all the process. She is a great Doctor.

First appointment with Dr. Schringa was good and surgery was booked within 2 days for my right hand. After surgery at the hospital I was given a sheet of instructions and an appointment to come to the Handworx office to have stitches removed 2 wks later. Also when I was at the first appointment he booked me for my left hand 4 wks later. I had the surgery on my left at the hospital but it was with Dr Jewer and given the same introductions but she didn't give me a follow up appt to have stitches removed On that afternoon I tried to call Handwox but had to leave a message. I have since tried to teach them 2 more times for an appt but no return call. It is now 2 wks and the stitches haven't been removed and no one has called back.

I met with Dr. Schringa this morning. Sadly this turned out to be a huge waste of my time, money, and resources. I was sent here by WSIB. He had my previous medical records so that also came with his own bias and predeterminations rather than looking at me as the patient - and seeing what he could do. He made up his mind long before I got there. However, he agrees something is causing my wrist pain - but no WSIB doctor is willing to find out what. News Flash: MRI’s don’t catch everything! And he didn’t even bother with trying to look at my other wrist - which is the whole reason I was sent there in the first place!! It’s pathetic how doctors aren’t even willing to practice full patient care anymore. Particularly WSIB paid doctors. I will find a doctor who will actually look at the whole arm. UPDATE: New imaging found additional problems - this one missed it as did the first specialist because neither were willing to look further. The arrogance of these entitled self-proclaimed "know-it-alls" clearly need their ego's checked! Now I'm living proof this one and the other one seriously dropped the ball! Always advocate for yourself.

Adrienne and Dr. Ho were both fantastic with diagnosing and treating the pain I was having in my hand. I gather that my problem is fairly common, but they both took the time to thoroughly explain it to me, along with my treatment options (both immediate and for the future if the problem recurs). I felt very comfortable with the treatment, and it's worked!! My hand is back to normal and I'm so grateful to them both!

I was referred for a finger fracture and have been treated by the best and also treated as the best. Its beautiful inside, Shannon the receptionist is very thorough, efficient and genuinely nice. Adrienne my physiotherapist has been a joy to work with, extremely knowledgeable, caring and invested in my recovery. I will have a successful recovery because of this great team!
