Dr. Boyd made me whole again! What a wonderful caring human being, but one must take note to his extraordinary ability to reconstruct. I sought out Dr. Boyd after seeing a couple surgeons which my insurance company had recommended. I knew right away that Dr. Boyd was the surgeon who would be performing my procedure as he made me feel that I was his only patient. He answered all my questions explained the procedure that was needed in order to solve my problem and made me feel at ease. Dr. Boyd performed a Bilateral explantation of silicone implants with capsulectomy and bilateral mastopexy. This procedure was necessary after my implants ruptured during my yearly mammogram. I had decided that I was not going to replace the implants and asked Dr. Boyd his professional opinion as to how I would look after the procedure was complete; he assured me that I would be “fine”. I was kept informed on all aspects with Dr. Boyd, but also with his surgical coordinator Kristine Nickel, who also was so caring. I can truly say I received “white glove” treatment throughout the entire process, from pre opp to home recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Boyd as I look better than “fine”, I look great! What an artist, a true artist and excellent surgeon.

I was referred in late November, 2016 to Dr. J. Brian Boyd by my dermatologist, Dr. Salar Hazany in Naples, (Long Beach) California for a medical surgical procedure where "time was of the essence" and involved surgery of a very precise and delicate nature to my upper cheek/lower eyelid. From the start, Dr. Boyd's staff called me almost immediately to get me booked in for my initial assessment. Two surgeries took place over the holidays of 2016, with strict follow-ups and therapy to carefully observe the healing process. A consummate professional and perfectionist (not to mention - a very, very pleasant man), Dr. Boyd takes the time - every time...to properly diagnose issues through detailed assessment and surgery options. Every question gets answered, concerns thoroughly addressed and the surgery with post-op follow-up therapy is met with a gentle and personal 'bedside manner.' This work ethic GREATLY decreases any nervousness or apprehension one may have in approaching such treatment for the first time. Dr. Boyd's office environment, although pristine - has a relaxed personal touch to it, unlike most "conveyor belt" type offices that make you feel like you are being rushed in...and out. His staff...practice manager, surgical coordinator and assistant, Kristine and administrative coordinator, Claudia and are incredibly skilled and knowledgeable -yet all the while displaying a down-to-earth style and demeanor every time questions or concerns are brought up. They provide the support to Dr. Boyd that really completes the overall experience for the patient, to the level where you feel VERY well taken care of. (Special note and a very humble "thank you" to Kristine, who knew exactly when to hold my hand - literally, during difficult moments in surgery.) We are very, very pleased turning to Dr. Boyd for our medical and cosmetic surgery needs...and will continue to do so for a very long time.

Seven days ago, Dr. J. Brian Boyd performed a face and neck lift on me. Unlike most patients, I met Dr. Boyd prior to having any desired plastic surgery. A close girlfriend of mine was unhappy with the wrinkles in her neck, and she wanted to get a "neck lift." She told me about this talented doctor who had performed two procedures on her daughter. My friend asked if I would care for her during her days of recovery, which I was glad to accommodate. I attended all preoperative appointments with her, and I got to know Dr. Boyd and his staff quite well. On the day of her surgery, I was introduced to the surgical team, the secretarial staff, and the anesthesiologist at the surgical center in Torrance. Everything I had observed thus far seemed really first class, but it never crossed my mind that I should or could have a procedure. My friend healed within a reasonable time, and her bruising was minimal. During one of her post-op appointments, I asked Dr. Boyd if I would be a good candidate for a face lift. Dr. Boyd made a few low-key comments with no-pressure answers. He never sounded like a salesman. Months passed and I did nothing. My girlfriend continued to receive compliments on her new look, even from friends who did not know she had any plastic surgery. Most said, "Hey, you're looking great. I like that new hair style." Dr. Boyd's work is so natural that many people could not identify what she had done. Still, I was not convinced that I, too, should do anything. One afternoon, I was invited to a luncheon at a private club north of Santa Monica for about a dozen people, most of whom I did not know. The lady across the table from me was having a conversation with the woman next to her. I could not believe what I was hearing. After about ten minutes, I interrupted and said, "Are you talking about Dr. J. Brian Boyd in the South Bay?" The woman was startled but quickly responded, "No, I was talking about my son; but Dr. Boyd is his associate." Then, she told me how highly she regarded Dr. Boyd. She had absolutely the most marvelous things to say about Dr. Boyd---also informing me that he is a textbook author and UCLA professor of surgery. By now, I had talked to more than a dozen people who had only praise for this highly-educated and skilled surgeon. About a week later, I called Dr. Boyd's office and requested a consultation. I loved the way Dr. Boyd explained what he could accomplish and what I could expect. There was absolutely no pressure, and he did not try to talk me into extraneous procedures. I had numerous questions--probably more than most people ask; however, he answered each one with clarity and also explained why, for example, he would not recommend a brow lift on me. He customizes procedures to each individual situation, and he is not like some "facial mills" that do the same thing on every woman's face. He clearly explained what he would do to correct my aging face and neck. By now, I felt that Dr. Boyd was an old friend. What stood out for me was the admiration that absolutely everyone had for Dr. Boyd. They all truly adored and respected him and his work. When I got nervous in the minutes before my operation, one of the surgical nurses said, "I work for other doctors, too, and Dr. Boyd never over corrects his facelifts. He always makes his patients look natural--you have nothing to worry about." I had a full face and neck lift (a week ago) and I am thrilled--so far. Never would I have ever have had a facial procedure had I not found such a caring and skilled surgeon. I was certain that I had found a very rare gem of a man. His lack of "medical arrogance" was refreshing, and it further endeared me to him. I also enjoyed his refined humor, Irish accent, and proper mannerisms, which I interpreted as "dignified."

I have been seeing Dr. Boyd for over a year now, I needed breast reconstruction after a double breast cancer mastectomy and he has handled everything so very well. I trust him explicitly and would not hesitate to have any work done by him. He is honest, soft spoken, patient, very low keyed but extremely knowledgeable. He did a double DIEP surgery on me and I have had to have a couple of revisions and everything has been fantastic. His office staff, particularly Kristine Nickel, are extremely nice and helpful. My husband has been very impressed with the care I have received and also thinks the world about Dr. Boyd and his staff. I would recommend him most highly, I wish there were more doctors like him around!

Run away as fast as you can!!! He is an arrogant pompous jerk. I saw him 3 days ago and STILL have NOT received a price on what I asked for. He must have been waiting by the window to see what kind of car I was driving when I left before he gives me his price. I am 61 years old and have been to two extraordinary plastic/cosmetic surgeons and HE IS NOT ONE OF THEM!!! His “entire” 8 reviews who gave him 5 starrs are either friend, or paid reviews. He hasn’t even posted my review yet. Gee...?

No regrets in choosing Dr. Boyd for both my breast augmentation revision and cesarean scar revison. Dr. Boyd and his staff do great work! Not only is he professional and easy to talk to, but he was great at alleviating my fears/concerns. His Office Manager/Surgical Consultant, Kristine, is a HUGE asset to his practice. Kristine was influential in me obtaining the aesthetic look I was shooting for!!

I was recently sent to Dr. J. Brian Boyd‘s office after having surgery on my ankle that left a large open wound. I was met by a warm and professional support staff, headed by Kristine Nickel (office manager and surgical consultant) and then Dr. Boyd arrived (in the middle of a long day of surgery) who immediately began considering the options and set out a plan of action. it has been a long and sometimes difficult process but their professionalism, attentiveness, kindness and generosity of spirit have also made it, somehow lovely.
