It is a newer building, that's always a plus. Has almost everything medically you need. The parking is fairly close to the building, not expensive as most and a spot is almost always available, I have never seen it full.

Horrible, doctors are useless don't know what they are doing but the nurses are phenomenal and amazing at their work

I spent my weekend in the ER. It's slow, like absurdly slow. However, that is no fault of the facility but rather the system. So many people use the ER as a walk-in clinic since the only clinic in town is impossible to visit. The staff, however, are gold. The security guard took down my COVID questionnaire. He was friendly and comforting. The triage nurses were efficient and polite. I sat for 11 hours in a high level of pain and discomfort, and the nursing staff did all they could to help me. They joked with me to try to distract me, and constantly checked in to see if I needed anything. The facility is new, and clean. Once you are through triage, there are rooms for privacy and comfort, instead of just areas with curtains. That is such a privilege. The ER Resident was professional and explained everything to me thoroughly, even though I knew she was so stretched for time. My only complaint is the charge nurse on duty last night. She had poor bedside manner and barged in on a very private moment. Her nurses apologized profusely on her behalf, but she is in charge - she should be leading by example. Overall, I would give the facility a really good rating. They helped me out and for that I am thankful. I would really like to thank Robyn, Katelyn, and Morgan, as well as, Dr. Sommers.

People doing the best they can under the circumstances. I have never had an issue with the service provided. Having been to emergency for myself and my parents as well as general appointments for scans, x-rays, blood work etc.

I've lived in Truro for the last few years, and one way or another, I always seem to end up at the hospital a few times each year for something or other. I've relied on this hospital and its staff for routine checkups, prescriptions for a couple of really nasty bugs, and more than one emergency check-in. I understand that hospitals tend to get a pretty rough deal when it comes to reviews like these (you're dealing with a lot of unhappy people, and it's generally the unhappiest who are passionate enough to get on here and leave their thoughts), but after having visited the CEHHC once again this week, I felt like I had to say something. It's true that the service at the CEHHC is often slower than anybody (staff or patient) would like, but this just seems to be a fact of life here in Nova Scotia, and I've come to accept that. However, what I'm happy to say is that I've received excellent, informed, compassionate service nearly every time I've visited this hospital, and I feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful people staffing a state-of-the-art facility in my community. Thanks for all the help!

Had appointment for blood draw for tests. Very nice nurses. A little wait but once registered it was fast. Once you get up off the chair someone disinfects it.

Bill Fielding

After the waiting time I found the service was excellent

Tim Storer

People are friendly but I can't understand how it takes an 8 hour day to have a doctor look at an xray

Beautiful building but very big - SO MUCH WALKING!!!

That Guy

Sat in emergency for 6 hours even though they knew what was wrong. Had a 1cm kidney stone which was easily the worst pain ID ever been in. Instead of helping patients the doctors and nurses stand around and talk about their social lives and whats for dinner rather then do what they are paid tondo. Then Colchester Hospital is a joke. Period.

This facility saved my life. Patient care was in my opinion, top-notch across the board. Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough.

Two words for their staff and "protocols", USELESS and STUPID

I am very thankful for the care, kindness, and helpfulness we have always experienced here! Keep up the good work!

The mental health center told me they would send a letter and they did not.. I also may have been taken off of the psychologist list without being told. I have been on the list for 3 and a half years. Totally unacceptable.

Been sitting here for over threes hours now, for a work related injury an have yet to be seen. I don’t know if its a lack of staff or doctors but this is getting ridiculous. What are my taxes even going to anymore.

Mikalah Corkum

I just watched doctors take a little boy into triage instead of a guy who came before them with his hand cut open. Also if I really wanted to wait hours I would have just gone to my doctor.

My 86 yr old father came in with chest pains around 6pm, I made it in around 9pm, no one would tell me if he was staying and I stayed for an hour. We both assumed at this hour, he must be staying. I left shortly after that to go home, 45 MINUTES AWAY. I get a call at 1am, he has been discharged, he has to go. UNACCEPTABLE-his address is ON his chart! He says he felt bullied by the younger doctor who said he didnt need to stay, despite the hour...UNACCEPTABLE....If we had a choice next time, which we dont, it would be to go to halifax-anywhere but Truro

Just want to say thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff, including the volunteers, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre's Emergency Department for getting me through a nerve wracking experience. Let no one say the younger generation is a bust. They are running this place and doing fine.

Bev Williams

Extremely rude, scolding &bullying behaviour at MRI registration desk. When you work in a hospital or government service you are not there being paid by the taxpayer (me) to teach people a lesson they'll never forget. The male technician was very professional and was caring, kind & compassionate.

Lexi poo

I’ve been waiting so long just to see a doctor.

Four hours wait for blood work and still didn't even get done because of appointment system what a joke if you can't make a system work you really should just go back to how the first system worked cause right now you guys are just creating a breeding ground for the virus.

Bob Power

Like most health facilities very busy. Beautiful facility. Staff work hard.

My first visit to CEHHC was for routine x-rays. Arrived in advance of my appointment time, sailed through the registration process with a kind and understanding administration staff, the wait was minimal and the technical staff courteous. Parking wasn't a problem (paid parking, as with most hospitals). The information desk, just inside the main doors, provided great directions on where to go within the hospital. All-in-all, a very good first experience. ????

Coby Jones

This hospital is horribly understaffed, and the few staff they do have leave much to be desired.

John Murray

Absolutely the best Nurse and Doctor staff hands down...when you have a family emergency this is the place to go. They have so much patience (no pun intended)

Natalie Baerg

My only experience is with the women and children’s unit as I had a baby there recently! The care We received was exceptional from all doctors and nurses. They went above and beyond to make sure we were healthy and happy and comfortable. We have nothing but good to say of the whole experience!

Dr. Marshall and the female nurses there are so amazing and caring. The only downside is waiting time, but it’s worth it if you want a correct diagnosis and treatment. Tip: go early in the morning. you’ll get in right away as long as there’s not a lot of other people waiting.

Really long waiting time. Took my best friend in there, she's really dizzy and has almost fallen a couple times. This dizziness also comes nausea and head pain. She's in a lot of pain. Doctors did some tests. Sent her home and told her to get bed rest and fluids. Not much help at all.

Not a person was called in the last half hour. 4 Hours and counting to get a simple eye flush. A nurse could have done this in less than 5 minutes.

Most hospital trips are not high on my list. Unfortunately my wife fell and suffered a deep laceration on her hand during the Not Since Moses 10k at Five Islands Park. I found the Sunday afternoon staff to be minimal at best. There were five people in the ER and we all waited 90 minutes before anyone was called for following triage and reception. Once seen by the nurse and Doctor, we were told report to Radiology. We wandered the halls unattended sticking our heads in several rooms with medical supplies and no one in sight. After locating Radiology we were then told to walk through three door ways and have a seat in a waiting room. After 30 minutes and several inquiries of passing staff, we returned to the ER receptionist and waited for staff to locate and provide the physicians consultation. The attending Physician did her best under the circumstances but she was frustrated having to locate nurses aides and assistants to help in her administration of simple tasks. One dialogue went like this, "can I please have a surgical scrub?" Assistant, "What's that?" Doctor, "It's the spongie pad with a brush on one side and soft on the other." Assistant, "oh yeah, do you want one to clean her laceration?" Doctor, "yes." The staff need to realize "everything " they discuss on the other side of the curtain is crystal clear to anyone waiting in the examination rooms. I don't have the time, patience or need to spread gossip to give specifics. What I found missing was the care giver relationship that understand the patient's stress and need to offer necessary information in a professional manner. We are not familiar with your surroundings and would appreciate your assistance.

My 88 year old mother is in her 13th hour of waiting. Overnight ER doctor said she needed a CT scan after we had waited 6 and a half hours. After another 6 hours of waiting for the scan a 2nd doctor said a CT scan was "not appropriate" and she could have easily just been xrayed. This after asking about her age. Which screams "you are too old for such an expensive test". They "have no idea" how much of a wait it will be to get her xrayed. And the provincial government wonders why no one wants to move to NS. Seriously? We came to this hospital since it is slightly closer to her home. Next time Dartmouth General.

I went for a routine colonoscopy with Dr. Phillip Smith at the Truro Hospital today. It is sometimes not the most pleasant procedure at best but the whole staff was very kind, professional and certainly put me at ease. My partner and I have had nothing but great experiences at the Truro Hospital, I would much rather go there than any other hospital.

Christine L

We had a great experience here today. Long wait time yes but when we did get in the nurses were amazing and Dr Holland was really amazing, super thorough and properly cares for his patients. We didn't feel rushed or not taken care of. Great team on staff and great Dr. :)

Good place to come in die. New hos but same staff....take me tata. Or Halifax

Good reception from the staff

I came here with urinary frequency, the doctor preformed a prostate exam and gave me 6 weeks cipro. Easily could of reffered me to a urologist or done some actual pathology to see if I even had an infection. Turns out I never had a prostate infection. Developed c-diff from the cipro, as well as tendon issues, central nervous system issues,(peripherial neuropathy), insomnia, vision loss, weakness/fatigue and the list continues. 8 months later the tendon issues are worsening and it is difficult to walk.

3 hours waiting in emergency room and still haven't been seen. Is there even a doctor here? Drive to Halifax. It will be faster.

Clean, new facility. Doesn't appear to be as heavily staffed as Halifax, however the staff I've encountered were all very friendly.

It is a hospital. Concrete floors and dirty walls. Long waits and dusty tables. Doctor could not explain anything due to language barrier.

May 25th 8:25 am... just gave a blood sample in chair 3 and for first time in many visits had a very poor experience. After asking for the blood to be collected using a butterfly from back of hand... the tech said she had to look at my arm. I had explained that for years now they had been unable to collect from my arm and I even had to stop giving blood as a result. She claimed to have found a vein... but I asked her please to use the hand which has very large and accessible veins. She did... but refused to use a butterfly needle and my whole back of the hand is swollen and bruised. Last 20 times I've given a sample butterfly needle has been used without swelling or bruising. Do they cost more??? I'll pay the difference next time!

Good care providers

The day surgery staff were excellent on my 2 visits of Feb 19 and Mar 20/19. They were caring, attentive and professional. They were aware of my claustrophobia and took care to ensure that I felt comfortable at all times. Thank you all.

Raymond Higgins

I had day surgery today the nurses were the best I ever had. They were the most professional people I have ever had the misfortune of meeting in a good way. Hospitals usually get a bad rap and,I just want to say it's not the personal, in my experience they were the greatest. I really would appreciate it if you could pass the message along to them, they definitely deserve a pat on the back!!! Thanks From Rays knee????

To all of the whiners and complainers offering negative comments about this hospital and/or staff I would suggest that you refrain from using it. The staff and service provided are consistently excellent as the majority of users will attest to. If your situation did not conclude as you had hoped perhaps the problem lies with yourself or was due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. Patients and visitors have no idea how dedicated, kind and overworked hospital staff are as they work within a difficult system and service an ungrateful and often rude public. It costs you nothing to be kind. Please try it. You might like it.

Gabrielle Sullivan

Id like to thank Dr. Marshall and staff for their kind help in my time of need Dr. Marshall was great and took the time to make me feel that I was important. Especially since I've been without a family doctor for over ten years..

I have been here many times , and the staff looked after me very well. I had my son here in 2013 and they were wonderful. I am sure they did as much as the IWK and possibly more with fewer patients to look after and divide their time.

Worst experience ever tonight. The treatment my daughter was given was beyond terrible! We weren't there for a common cold.. we were there for a very serious matter! Absolutely horrendous! I will definitely recommend to anyone that lives in this area to take the extra time and drive to Halifax!

Erika P

My one year old fell off a chair and we brought her in with a clearly bent forearm. The triage nurse said it looked swollen but she didn't think it was broken. She didn't send her for xrays or anything, we were made to wait 4 hours in the waiting room and watched two adults with broken arms get registered and sent for xrays immediately. Both were in and out with casts before my daughter even got a room and an xray where they determined her arm was in fact broken.

During the month of July 2019, I visited the emergency room at Truro hospital three times and their imagining department twice during the course of my husband's final illness. On each visit we were treated kindly, courteously, and intelligently. Everything that was possible was done. When the only recourse was Palliative care, it was provided promptly. The grief of our family was somewhat mitigated by the respect and helpfulness of staff. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience.

I spent 21/2 weeks with badly infected leg and problems with my heart. I got the very best care by the doctors and the amazing nursing staff on the 3rd floor.

Dr. Marshall and Rn Holly we’re great. These guys dealt with patient after patient for the whole time I was there. Give our practitioners the flowers they deserve. It’s not any one persons fault if you have to wait to receive service. Yea I waited to get stitched up, but I didn’t pay for sqat and you get what you pay for.

Matthew Mills

The worst. I showed up needing stitches on my eye after a rugby accident, I was with my girlfriend, sister and mother. I waited 3 hours in a semi empty room while scheduled appointments showed up for routine procedures such as cast removal. After 3 hours I received a call that my best friend had passed away in Halifax. After a cry I informed the triage nurse, who did not care and informed me I'd be at least another hour. After 10 minutes of discussion we left for Halifax and went to the QEII. We got in immediately and were treated with compassion, my doctor was able to comfort me and knew about my friend who the other doctors worked on hours before. The stitches took 5 minutes.

Tara O'Connor

My son was there a few months ago for the chicken pox....we only were made to wait a total of 15mins in the waiting room & maybe 5 for the doc they r awesome .....made my son feel very comfortable bc he has a fear of hospitals and docs

Shabbir Noorbhasha

Truro hospital is so redicouls in waiting time . They made us wait for more than 4 hrs even with new born child( 15 days old ) as the baby crying with pain at top of her voice, nurses just ignore and when we go to ask triage staff, the only thing they say is that they have only one doctor available. It takes several hours to see him, meanwhile there's no other patient's waiting in waiting room except us with baby with pain. I hope Novascotia health authority take some action having more staff and worthfull nurses and doctors during nights and mornings. The whole point of coming to emergency is to get the medical attention rightaway, and for new born babies it is very important to be checked. Checking vitals, and keeping them waiting for hours is not supposed to be what emergency room staff should be doing. All they can do just sit and watch. I don't know why they are playing with people without having any skills. I was wondering how they got jobs, with out some compassion. Would you wait for several hours to see doctor if it is your newborn child in pain, and helpless and all they can do is cry..... would you.? My suggestion is at least get some common sense . Shame on you guys.????????????

Cecil Bragg

Been there many times, 4, 5 and always dealt with promptly and professionally, a pleasure.

Lisa Owen (Selorath)

I was at this hospital for 5 days after suffering a heart attack, and the care I received there was absolutely excellent! Nothing but praise!!

Bernard L. Brown

I had my gall bladder removed August 29. From the pre-op information meeting, to recovery after the operation (including making appointments, getting directions, etc.), everyone I encountered was cheerful and friendly, but also respectful, and always very professional. My entire experience was excellent, Canadian healthcare at its finest in my view. I want to thank especially Dr. McKenna and the entire OR team. They always made me feel confident that I was in good hands, and you can't ask better than that.

Gina Ernest

Son arrived at hospital at 3:13 pm, at time of writing 8:53 pm, still waiting. Only 15 in waiting room when he arrived. Unacceptable wait times. NS has no family doctors and long ER wait times. #healthcarecrises

Watched someone having a heart attack receive no assistance from staff, not even offered a wheelchair and was forced to walk to triage. Completely absurd. Heard rumours that there might be a doctor in this establishment? Set aside at least +2 hours for each person ahead of you.

Randy Saltzman

3rd floor name is Kate. I never forget. Very beautiful and professional you helped me professionally. I'm out of words

Calvin Schellenberg

My experience was good they provided me with excellent care

Had an ultrasound today told with my husband. The tech was horrible. She did not show me our baby and did not explain anything. She told me that she was going to tell get me a due date and measure how old the baby is, she did not. She didn't even tell me if the baby's heart was beating or not. It is very disappointing to go in to see your baby and the tech not show or tell you how your baby is doing. At the end, she showed me a picture of our "baby". It did not even resemble a fetus. It looked like just a mass. Very upset knowing that this is supposed to be an exciting time for families.
