Went to him and was treated for Endometriosis. He has NO bedside manner, dismissive and made me feel like I was the problem. No pain management strategies and ended my last appointment with "well guess you'll know what it is next time it comes back". I have never felt so small and left with more questions than answers. It was an awwful experience.

$467 for a first appointment where the doctor won't provide much value. At least the staff couldn't explain what would the doctor provide for this ridiculously high amount. Despite the horrible fees there is a one months waiting time.

Dr. Goncalves was very informative when discussing my options and procedure. His bedside manner was friendly, professional, and caring. He explained my surgery after care very well, and answered all my questions and concerns. I am still healing but l am very happy with the outcome, and looking forward to being able to take part in a more active lifestyle now that my pain and fatigue has been resolved. I was very happy to find Dr. Goncalves after being told by another gynecologist that there was basically nothing that could be done to repair my pelvic organ relapse other than trying expensive lazer surgery that doesn't have a very high success rate and wasn't covered by my medical insurance. I was so relieved to hear from Dr. Goncalves that he could indeed repair my organs. He also made me aware that, as with any surgery, there can be risks but he felt I was a good candidate for the surgery he recommended. The surgery went very well and his follow up care was outstanding. I highly recommend him as a surgeon as he explained my procedure thoroughly and he stays very current with his knowledge. I also would like to say that his office staff, Annelien, is such a lovely person, kind and so friendly! If you need a gynecologist, Dr. Goncalves is the one to go to!???? Judy Carlsen

We would have never met Dr. Goncalves had I not required an emergency C-section unexpectedly. He did a fabulous job, I have minimal scaring. His bedside manner is amazing and was incredibly kind. He was very straight forward about what the procedure would entail/ recovery would be like , I appreciate that in medical care. He visited my daughter and I the following day even though we were under the care of the midwife clinic. At my six week checkup post casearan the office is like a home, and the MOA is absolutely fabulous and accommodating. Definitely recommend to others seeking obgyn services.

When I first entered Dr. Goncalves office...I felt like I had entered a warm and inviting home. Loved the decor and felt comfortable before I even saw him. Dr. Goncalves is very professional and knowledgeable but at the same time he is caring and understanding which made my examination more comfortable. He explained everything to me, before, during and after the examination so I felt totally at ease. During my follow-up appointment, he again explained everything to me in a very caring way. I would highly recommend Dr. Goncalves as my whole experience was professional yet comfortable and I felt I was in good hands.

Highly recommend Dr Goncalves to anyone, l was waiting over 6months to see the same kind of surgeon in Vancouver. Even called his office (Vancouver) to explain my situation and how l was on morphine + over the counter pain killers (after about 6 weeks still waiting). My brother drove me to Vancouver to the hospital where this Dr worked & saw other gyn/ob specialists. They saw the size of my bladder prolapse, with a # of ulcers on thebladder prolapse, but this did not even make a difference (that was a 8 hour drive for us) I got to find out about Dr Goncalves through someone l knew who recommended her gyn/ob in Penticton, but because of the size of my bladder prolapse she said she could not do my surgery but Dr Goncalves could. He was a angel sent to me. Within few weeks of him receiving my consult I saw him & he could not believe what happened to me when I went to Vancouver. Before I left his office l already had a date for the bladder prolapse surgery Surgery date - he said my bladder prolapse was outside of me by 100%, and had a lot of work to be done once he got on the inside. His words to me after the surgery was done was "this was a very complex surgery and NOT one he did very often." But he did a excellent job & very thankful we got to cross paths .Also very compassionate Dr, great bedside manner & NOT treated like a #, or rushed in/out of his office If ever needed more surgery again l would NOT HESITATE to see him again. Anyone else who sees Dr Goncalves, l am sure will feel the same way! Also the staff were friendly as well! Thank you again for all you did for me, Barb M (Creston)

Had to have a full hysterectomy about 6 weeks ago and he went out of his way for me so I'd didn't have to many stitches. I am so happy and appreciative that he took the challenge. Thank you so much!! Our family will always feel very fortunate and very grateful that Dr. Jose Goncalves happened to be on-call the night I went into labour with our son. We wouldn’t hesitate to refer any of our friends to him should they need his services and knowledge. His reception team is also very helpful and friendly. Annelien bent over backwards to accommodate us in the short time frame we needed to get in for a follow up. He is incredibly talented, experienced and knowledgeable OBGYN. Dr. Goncalves stepped in to assist our midwives when we were faced with complications. He was respectful while communicating the necessary and immediate course of action needed to ensure that our baby and I remained safe. Like our midwives, he always made sure that I was included in any decisions that needed to be made. His bedside manner during the emergency as well as post-partum was professional, kind and positive. Even though I was in the care of the midwives, he visited us the following day to make sure that both our baby and I were recovering and healing well. I needed him to walk me through what happened during the birth and he did so with empathy, authenticity and clarity. He was very clear in his post-care instructions to ensure that I healed successfully from the physical trauma. We appreciated his honest opinions. He didn’t hesitate to offer further explanation or insight if either myself or my husband needed them. When we experienced a difference of opinion with a nurse, he was very professional & diplomatic when he shared his suggestion (which was in alignment with what our midwives were instructing) and did not put down the nurse’s suggestion. Dr. Goncalves is a great asset to our health community.
