The staff is super friendly, the doctors truly care about your visit and do not want to take any risks just so they can finish quickly. We were involved in a highway moose crash north of Parry Sound. Do not be afraid to stop by if you are traveling in that area. If anything you would probably get better treatment here then in Toronto.

Great hard-working staff, helpful, and very friendly. Came up to Parry Sound Hospital on Monday for my husband's knee replacement surgery. Traveling from Port Dover took 4 hrs and from the volunteers, cafe staff, nurses, physiotherapy team (full gym on site) and our surgeon Dr. Smyth and Gina the support team. Everything went stellar. They were able to gethe him up moving on day 2, and on day 3 he was able to complete 2 physio sessions which gave him clearance to go home. Full sheets with home instructions were given, notes for pharmacy, we were able to purchase a ice flow device to take home which greatly reduces pain and inflammation. Very pleased with the teamwork and coordinated efforts that made the road to healing much more easier than expected. Thank You all at West Parry Sound Hospital!!

Triage here is brutal. Minor Minor things could be dealt with to clear the ER but they don't. Wait times for a ear infection = 4.5 hrs. Absolutely terrible.

Well I ended up without treatment because checking into the ER was not a good experience - walked out twice. I no longer support socialized medicine for sure. Ugh what a dump.

There are no walk ins in parry sound, hospital holds fast track from noon to four daily but it fills fast, arrive before noon! Regular emergency be prepared to wait, we did 4.5 hours. Busy hospital.

I was taken here following a motorcycle accident while visiting the city on a road trip. I truly feel that I received superior care here. The nurses and doctors were absolutely efficient, thorough, and skilled. I received compassion and a full level of treatment with clear follow-up instructions. I was informed of all aspects of my condition regarding injuries as well as the reasons and results of all procedures. THANK YOU WEST PARRY SOUND HOSPITAL FOR EVERYTHING.

My son-in-law went to the Emergency Dept with complications after surgery a few days earlier. They let him lay shivering and throwing up from the pain, on the cold floor in the waiting room, for over 2 hours. After another patient went to the admissions desk and threatened to call an ambulance to the E.R. they finally took him in (where there were several beds free). After appalling treatment by the triage nurse the doctor came in and he took very good care of him. If you get Dr. Dan Honsinger you are in good hands.

Out of all the hospitals ive been to this by far the worst. Ive waited 5 hrs to be TRIAGED. On other ocassions had people come in after me and triaged prior to me. Ive had drs who dont really know what theyre doing and only have problems arise down the road, and nurses who belittle you. Ive seen patients turned away and told to drive to other hospitals ( a guy with 3rd degree burn on his hands and up his arms). Nurses who told a man his wife wasn't there even though he followed behind the ambulance thw whole way there, then watched as they degraded him amd embarrassed him for wanting to be in with his wife amd know how she was doing. On the plus side (when things are going good) we've had exceptional service with the nurses and drs amd have been in and out. Consistency isnt a thing here so good luck with your visits.

Utterly disgusting. My son's girlfriend was rushed in by ambulance and they put her in the waiting room. For over an hour. The poor girl was in so much pain. The doctors and nurses just walk by even when she was on the floor bawling because she was in so much pain.

I went as a "driver" to Parry Sound Health Centre on Friday May 20th. I was VERY Lucky to meet one of your Volunteers in the day surgery area named Lyn (Linda). I would like to say that she was EXCELLENT.No matter how busy things were/got she made sure to acknowledge Everyone and really made the experience very PLEASANT! More accurately it deserves a negative rating. I took my husband to the WPSHC as he was experiencing AFib--a dangerous irregular heart rhythm. They told me to wait in the waiting area despite our wanting to be together but promised an update. 1hour 40 minutes later I demanded to see my husband. The vile and unprofessional receptionist ushered me back wherein my husband was being 'treated.' He was discharged--STILL IN AFIB weak/dizzy. I drove like crazy to get him to Toronto where, within 15 mins he was assessed and cardioverted to a regular sinus rhythm. The Toronto emergency room doctors were mortified that they had discharged him knowing that we were possibly going to return to an island property. The collective attitude of the nurses and staff is comparable to that of prison wardens and the competence of the attending physician that day leaves much to be desired. If you need a couple of stitches--fine, but anything life threatening--get to a competent facility if possible. To say that I am disgusted by the experience is the very least.

Absolutely horrible wait times at this hospital. We drove my grandmother there because she was having extreme pain in her hand. We first went to the Rosseau Nursing station who told her to go to the Parry Sound hospital for x-rays then to check in to the emergency department. She went to get her x ray . The nurse told us they didn’t have a radiologist until Monday. I mean what the hell??? We left her there because Canadian hospitals have a tendency to take a while. At 12:00 pm still in extreme pain she checked in to the ED. She waited and waited. At 4:00pm we returned to the hospital to see how she was doing. I sat there with her for 3 more hours. During that 3 hours I watched 5 people walk out of the hospital obviously tired of waiting. At 7:00 pm she finally saw a doctor. We got called in by a nurse and went into a room. All the nurses where just sitting there talking and laughing with each other. We finally got a doctor Dr. Redmond. He was a very nice and understanding and sympathetic. They gave my grandmother Teradol for the pain. And a splint for her hand. He diagnosed her with gout which is extremely painful. She got a prescription for Prednisone and Tylenol 3. We finally left at 8:00pm. We are never returning to this hospital and if you can choose go to the one in Bracebridge. The wait times are way shorter.

Wish the parking on the lower parking lot was thought out with a larger area to park in mind. Many people that trybto get a parking spot for thier theropy cant because this parking lot doesnt accomidate for many vehicles

There Emergency department wait times to get seen are ridiculous i have waited up to 8 hours to be seen and there was only 5 ppl besides my self . They only time I got seen right away was when I broke my ankle and was still 3 hours before I was discharged out . They need more doctors in the emergency when there are a lot of ppl . I understand there serious ones get seen first and all but my point is they need to lessen the wait times and get more ppl seen in a shorter time frame . The hospital in general is pretty good nice friendly nurses and doctors But the emerg department is bad for wait times even after you get put in a room

Left the E R after 3 hour wait and still not seen a doctor only 1 other person in waiting room one star ....... My wife was seen by doctors another time and admitted quickly and received excellent care with good food and even had me bring our dog into her room on visits. 5 stars

Some doctors are awesome, others not so much, have had some absolute terrible experiences and disrespect in emerge. Nurses are great, heard a doctor once say to a nurse "I don't give a **** about their problems" not comforting. Clean building, offices and halls are very clean. front desk staff are awesome. Emerge just needs a face lift with the attitude.
