Last january I spent almost 1400$ in this clinic which was a total waste. Not happy with the botox and gell injection at all. The botox made my eyelids droop like a dropped layer formed beneath my eyebrows. The jell injection made my face look asymmetrical. I don't recommend this clinic to nobody.

I saw dr.groot for acne concerns and he took out a tiny scapul and as he was looking at my face he cut on the surface of the left side of my face to see what was undernieth my skin. I had no idea what was going on and he didnt tell before hand what he was going to do. I have a permenant scare on my face from his assult in his examination room. He is unpredictable and I will never see a male dermatoligist because of the trama of dr.groot

I don't even know where to start; I have so many good things to say about Dr. Nakatsui's team. First off, they made it very comfortable and like a day at the spa. Literally the only bad part about the surgery was that I didn't get to finish my 2nd movie LOL. The recovery process was short and I had a full hairline again by month 5. Dr. Nakatsui's crew restored my self confidence and changed my life, as cliche as that sounds. I will be going back in a year or 2 to get my crown done. Thanks guys!

SO. My story is that I wanted to get several under eye veins removed.(the big kind that are blue and green and make me look sick all the time ahhh) so I went for a consultation at Groot. I had a previous consult somewhere else but wanted a second opinion because vein treatment near the eyes is no joke. The girls at the front desk and the nurses before the actual dermatologist coming into the office were so pleasant and gave me a realistic idea of what to expect (the procedure works but I’m most likely going to experience swelling. Understandable!) I was prepared to do the procedure that day if all went well, might I add. When the dermatologist came in he looked at me for two seconds, said I’m a suitable candidate and then asked if I had any questions. I asked him about swelling and he said I shouldn’t experience any....??? Pardon. Then he told me that the charge is $800 dollars. Pardon?? I previously got quoted $200 at another derm office. Obviously I didn’t go ahead with it. Decided to go to Rao Dermatology instead. They did an incredible job my veins are gone I’m soooo happy, and it was $200. I felt more comfortable with them..I don’t know. Maybe my intuition kicked in but I didn’t feel confident in the Groot place at all and those prices are ridiculous come on. Anyways. I’ve been putting off doing this review until I had the procedure done at Rao. Sure enough I’m too swollen to go to work(not too sure why Dr.N at Groot told me I wouldn’t be) but my point is always get a second opinion don’t just go to one office and think they’re the be all end all.

I am giving Dr. Nakatsui's office three stars. Dr. Nakatsui has wonderful bedside manners, and is kind, caring, and professional. Likewise for all of his staff. However, I am disappointed with the results of a laser procedure that was performed by him recently. I visited Dr. Nakatsui's office to treat remnants of a port-wine stain. I expected it would be a routine procedure as I had previously been treated by his old partner. Bruising after this procedure typically lasts 10-14 days. After 6 weeks, some of my bruising still has not resolved. Concerned, I paid another visit to his office. Dr. Nakatsui told me that the bruising likely has not healed because the treatment he used was probably too aggressive. I was rather upset by this because I expect that dermatologists would have a good idea of how to adjust the laser powers to suit each patient's individual case/skin. Now my face is botched, and I have no idea when/if it will heal. I would recommend Dr. Nakatsui for a different procedure as I believe that he and his staff care about patient well-being. Additionally, it looks like other people have had good results from his treatments. However, if you are being treated for a port wine stain, I would go elsewhere.

Was just told over the phone that a 3-5 minute procedure (botox injection in both underarms) would cost $300 (uninsurable). At other dermatologists it is $150. Stay far away from this place. EDIT/RESPONSE: I have had this procedure done over a dozen times, and it is painful. But numbing cream should not be required. Furthermore, if numbing cream were applied, actual time spent with the patient would not exceed 15 minutes. And an assistant would apply the cream. You're charging $1200 per hour for this! That is insane (even by dermatologist standards). This fee is typically 100% out of pocket, are you not aware of that?

When my dermatologist retired, I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a clinic that would deliver the same great services. I have been visiting another clinic prior to Nakatsui DermaSurgery and despite the great web reviews, I was really disappointed. Then, I researched some more and found Dr. Nakatsui's clinic. I am so pleased I was able to discover this clinic as if I would have known, I would have gone there the very first time. First off, the clinic is really well organized and offers a great range of services. All the staff I have been interacting with during my first three visits are all friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Dr. Nakatsui is also great and works really well. He seems to have a conservative approach which I quite like. I have been visiting the clinic to treat rosacea and have some unwanted moles removed. I will definitely recommend this clinic to whoever is looking for advice and treatment.

Only professional, safe and great care when we are in the hands of Dr. Nakatsui and his team! During our last visit, we really appreciated the covid 19 protocol that were in place to make us feel safe during our appointment. Dr.Nakatsui takes his time to listen to your concerns and is thorough on his assessments. For example, my husband had a bump on his chest that had been misdiagnosed several times by other doctors. Dr.Nakatsui took a biopsy and sent out a referral to have the bump remove. We learnt that the bump was indeed a cancerous fibrosarcoma. Thanks to Dr N my husband was able to seek treatment early and in my opinion this saved his life! Hands down the best dermatologist and nurses!!!

i had the procedure done it was quick and efficent however booking a followup apt was a nightmare...whenever i asked the receptioonist told me they were full for six months and i should come back. i tried and again was told they were booked up. but waiting in line they booked 2 people for the next day.. i suppose once they have your money you have a hard time getting in. even though the followup would probably take 10 to 15 m in. sad

I have been a patient of Dr. Nakatsui's for well over ten years and have always been very pleased with my treatments, results and leave feeling like I received good value for my money. The staff members are all very welcoming and friendly and efficient, and I trust whatever advice they give me. Some places I have been to in the past have pushed me to consider other services in order to do nothing more than build their business, but no one here ever does that. If you want more information on something, they are happy to provide it but never pressure you to do anything you don't want to do. I plan to be with Dr. Nakatsui for many years to come!

I was referred by a coworker to this clinic to look at a mole on my left cheek. They have poor customer service. I waited for almost two months for them to contact me. They said they called me on April 9, 2021 and left a message which they did not. They also did not bother to follow up since then. I wanted to have the mole removed by June because I am going to a wedding and if they followed up like they should have then the procedure could have been done and over with by now. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!! I AM NOT IMPRESSED WITH THEM WHILE I WAIT FOR A NEW REFERRAL!!!!!!

I went to the office today and had a wonderful experience. From the receptionist, nurses and Dr. Groot himself, everyone was pleasant in good spirits and explained everything thouroughly. They took time to let me ask and most importantly answer all of my questions. I had to have one of my kids with me (5 months old) and they were incredibly accommodating, even bringing in someone to hold my son IF he got cranky during the procedure! If your looking for a dermatologist this is the place to go!

I don't recommend Dr Don Groot if you're looking to get laser surgery. I went to see him expecting good results, especially with his caliber and background, but what I got were poor results. After giving sufficient time to heal following post-op, I'm not happy with how my face looks now since he performed the procedures. I've never experienced such incompetence and arrogance from a doctor when I asked him for an explanation. He rushes and does a poor job, takes your money, and is patronizing and dismissive when you bring up valid concerns to him. I recommend doing the research and getting other opinions from other doctors before going ahead with any major laser surgery with Dr Groot. He ruined my face and now I have to live with the permanent botched job he created. I should've left my face alone in the first place since it was fine in the beginning. I thought I can improve my appearance, but in the end Dr Groot made it 100 times worse.

I went in for laser hair removal. I never recieved a consult by the Doctor. 6 sessions in I started complaining that it wasn't working and none of the nurses took me seriously. They told me they were increasing the intensity but I could see my chart and that was not the case. I finally demanded to see the doctor and when he did meet with me it was clear he never reviewed my chart once and he never even looked at the area that was being treated. I spent thousands of dollars on hair removal and it was a complete waste. I would never recomend this clinic. I have been telling everyone my story. Go where they actually care about the results.

Had a transplant with Dr. Nakatsui in 2014 and was exceptionally pleased with both the procedure and results. Both Dr. Nakatsui and Kelvin (who was my main point of contact more often than not) were a great help in answering questions and concerns. Procedure was good, professional and as pleasant as you can expect for a whole day surgical procedure (it is a long process). My healing was overall pretty good with only minor bumping and irregularity at the donor site. The recipient site turned out great. Healing process obviously takes some time, but the results have been fantastic. Highly recommended.

I had a fantastic result and I also had some fillers to my chin crease and nose, which turned out fantastic as well. I was a bit anxious as I had never had treatment in these two areas before but the doctor walked me through it and it ended up looking fabulous! I never thought these two areas were so aging for me. I have had moles removed on 2 occasions. First time was a couple of years ago and I cant remember the doctors name, it was a mole on my face and I was worried because it is my face and any error would be seen by everyone. The procedure was good and I felt very comfortable during it. The results were very very good. I am very pleased with the results. Then about a month ago I had Dr. Nakatsui remove 11 moles from my body including one on my nose and one on my head. Once again the entire experience was good. It's not a "fun" thing to have freezing injected and moles cut off and then laser treatment afterwards. But Dr. Nakatsui really makes you feel at ease, and his nurse staff are very cheerful and pleasant too. The entire experience was really positive. The results were really good, especially on my face I was very happy with the outcome.

I contacted Groot DermaSurgery Centre via Yelp on August 1st requesting to book an appointment. I received an email from Melanie asking for more information before booking an appointment. I replied providing a phone number and hours that I would be able to answer calls. I waited 19 days and sent out an email asking for a reply regarding booking an appointment. Melanie followed up with a reply instructing Cassandra who their patient coordinator to call that day - I received no such call or voice message. I received an appointment reminder 9 days later about an appointment I haven’t spoken to anyone or agreed to, they just unilaterally booked it. 'Some' procedures, a $50 fee may apply for any missed or late cancellations. It's September 11th, it took me 42 days to speak with someone. I finally spoke with Cassandra, their patient coordinator, who reluctantly apologized. They have no respect for other people's time. Look elsewhere that is able to promptly and effectively respond to questions, concerns and most importantly, your time/money.

I asked about the face cream that is promoted on the website and not sure I would have been told about it unless I had asked. I spoke with Dr. Nakatsui’s assistant, Kelvin, and found him very knowledgeable about all aspects of hair loss and hair transplant surgery. When first meeting with Kelvin you will find that he is in fact bald himself. He was very upfront with me and told me that hair transplants are all a matter of candidacy and supply and demand and that not everyone is a good candidate, like himself. I appreciated his honesty. He made me feel comfortable when discussing this personally sensitive issue. Dr. Nakatsui must be confident in his results if he has a bald guy providing all of the consultations. After speaking with Kelvin for a good hour about various aspects of hair transplants and seeing almost 100 before and after photos, I spoke with Dr. Nakatsui himself. Dr. Nakatsui assessed my situation and took a thorough history and, ultimately, at the end of the consultation he suggested that because of my younger age and the risk of future genetic hair loss, I should trial a medication like rogaine or propecia for about a year and see if the medication can slow down the hair loss and to ensure that I do not have any side effects. If the medications work then we can consider a hair transplant! I appreciated that and I’m so very thankful that he did not push me into a surgery like other doctors I spoke with. If all goes well and the medications help, I will be going with Dr. Nakatsui in a years time.

If you are a person of colour I recommend that you stay away from this clinic. They have little knowledge and confidence when treating a person of colour and lack of experience relating to hyperpigmentation. If they recommend you their Dr. Groots #3 cream, I suggest you find another dermatologist. They only want to sell their products to you and have you bound to continuously lighten up your darks spots to eventually your whole face (which makes them more money). The nurses and Dr. Nakatsui will have completely different answers to the same questions. Again, showing that they are not on the same page and lack of certainty. Consultations seems to be rushed, especially if you look like you are not a middle aged caucasian person looking to drop money on botox etc. My only regret as a POC is that I did not go to a dermatologist that is confident and educated in hyperpigmentation and other POC skin concerns.

Although Dr Groot is currently on a leave of absence, the clinic is still being run by his partner and the awesome support staff. I was a patient last August for an unrelated procedure, and decided to try them out a couple weeks ago to take care of some fairly severe veins on and around my nose. After a quick look from the Dr on duty, one of nurses performed a 10 minute procedure with the V-beam laser. It DID hurt quite a bit (sensitive area!), but it was so worth it. I paid in advance for three procedures, as I am guaranteed to need follow-up treatments. So far I am thrilled with the results. The veins were reduced by about 80% right off the bat. There were no marks or bruising left behind, and certainly no ridges or scars. I go back for the second treatment soon, but I'm not sure I will need the third. The nurse was fantastic and reassuring, and very informative. I went in with my eyes wide open, but thankfully I am experiencing the best case scenario. I cannot describe what a relief it is to no longer feel self conscious about my nose, and to no longer feel the need to touch up my makeup whenever I go out. Yay!!

This is my true statement for Dr. Nakatsui. And it’s a long one! A knowledgeable professional, honourable, kind, with unparalleled work ethic, always positive, not greedy, compassionate and so much more. But before all that he is a wonderful Human Being. And all these genuine qualities that he has as a person, professionally reflect on the team that is his clinic. The receptionists: are always smiling, always trying to solve and accommodate the client's interests, if the phone call goes to voicemail, they call on the same day, time or, the next day. Always professional, kind, friendly, polite and attentive. They are the best front of the clinic. Nurses: they have all the qualities of the reception ladies plus the knowledge, the interaction with the client. I know almost all nurses and I can easily say that they are all extremely professional, kind, polite, helpful they have a deep knowledge of what they will suggest to the client in relation to the cosmetic procedure or any matter. And this is very important: nurses don’t receive a “commission” when the client decides to have a treatment. By the own words of a nurse from Dr. Nakatsui “they have a more holistic approach to beauty“. Because they don’t need to sell nothing. They attitude towards beauty, they approach to us and the results make us to come back again and again. Like me for Redensity (just an example) this procedure change my life. When I said to Dr. Nakatsui he laughed. And I was so surprised in see him genuine laughed about it, I only saw before very stressful or “could care less” doctors. Before I met Dr. Nakatsui I went to doctors who are respected professionals, please don't get me wrong, but I was just another “one” on today's list. The first question was: what is your budget for today? I had no idea what was applied to my face because nothing was explained to me and the name of the procedure was “clinic name” . The receipt did not explain anything and the total price, for the same service as dr. Nakatsui does I paid 60% or way more. I understand that everyone has to earn money in their profession and Dr. Nakatsui is not a charity. But the prices that other doctors charging are extremely abusive. And I've been seeing dermatologist and cosmetic procedures for over 20 years. I know what I'm talking about. Besides, the environment at the other clinics, maybe because the management and the nurses have the pressure to “sell” is very hostile and stressful. Dr. Nakatsui’s clinic is my Tiffany’s like the movies. Is such a calm, serene, playful, nice place to be almost like whimsical. About safe procedure with Covid-19? Don’t worry. When you reach their front door you will think that you are in a sealed place. I never saw a place so safe and protected like Dr. Nakatsui’s clinic. One day I was talking with a nurse about a stupid thing that I did with a pimple close to my lower eyelid. To my surprise Dr. Nakatsui appears to checked on me and he said that was too close to my eye and he can’t fixed the problem. That wasn’t a big deal, so I decided to wait until I talk to my optometrist. Until one day I received a phone call from a eye lid specialist that want to schedule an appointment for me as a referral from Dr. Nakatsui. And I was thinking that Dr. Nakatsui forgot about it. That phone call was amazing! Thank you so much! If you read my review until here this is my resume: Dr. Nakatsui and his team isn’t your just “ sell and go” doctor. They are a team that are capable, knowledgeable, professionals, but genuine concern with every client. Because they care about you and there you matter, not your wallet: YOU. And this is priceless!
