I want to express my gratitude to Dr Van Laeken and Ramona RN for the expert care and support during my reconstruction after Breast cancer. I had bilateral mastectomies and nipple reconstruction . I am completely offended by”Stanley Park” who posted a few days ago. Not sure how a second party could understand what a patient goes through with the surgical team. Having gone through this I remember all the post op instructions and will always be grateful to Ramona when she removed my drains and took the bandages down for the first time. She was so empathetic and kind when I broke down. Obviously there are risks of infection after any procedure/surgery . That was explained to me too. I also had Allanah Lane do my nipple tattoos. She was gentle and patient . I would recommend her with confidence. It troubles me that a second hand assessment may possibly tarnish the reputation of the practice of a valued member of the medical community. Especially one that has helped with thousands of patients in the transition of physical and mental health during difficult times. Thank you Dr Van Laeken ,Ramona and Team I will always be Grateful !!

Upon entering Dr Nancy Van Laekens office one would think they were in a Beverly Hills plastic surgeons office. Fresh Orchids all around, wall mounted waterfall fancy leather seats ones first question is where is she getting all of the money to do all of this? Well the answer to this is out of the BC tax payers pockets. How is this you ask. Well she has conveniently situated herself to be at the end of the BC Cancer funnel. Meaning that she has so graciously or more like greedily offered to “assist” the poor souls who have been struck by cancer. Since I am unaware of any doctor that is doing so well in private practice that has any time to spare except for the patients they see regardless of the cause. But amazing enough Dr Nancy Van Laeken seems to be able to manage to squeeze the cancer patients in? Of course only out of the goodness of her pocketbook oops we meant heart… So was lead into one of Dr Nancy Van Laekens examination room and a Ipad was hung outside the door wow high tech. And my procedure was discussed. Then she dug out this nasty looking old point and shoot digital camera and asked if she could take a picture of my chest. I politely declined and told her that I would like to think about it before proceeding. She got up and left the said camera in the drawer! No lock no nothing on it. I curiously opened up that drawer and was able to access all of the hundreds of pictures of other clients that she had so haphazardly left unattended or unsecured. I actually had a card reader on me which I could have easily taken out the memory card from Dr Nancy Van Laekens camera slipped it into my reader and would have had all of those poor souls pictures. Instead I hastily got dressed and decided to do a little more research on Dr Nancy Van Laeken The unprofessional and complete lack of security of those pictures on the digital camera threw up some major red flags for me. Upon doing a little more research it appears that I was correct in my assumptions. It appears that Dr Nancy Van Laeken is either technology challenged, lazy, ignorant or just plain negligent when it comes to her offices operation Firstly her domain name is hosted with a company Brandon Gray Internet Services aka namejuice do a little googling on that one and see how it has been shut down by the government for “scamming” customers. Now I beg you to find any other reputable business in the world that would use that company note that I did state reputable. But it wouldn’t bother anyone who carelessly leaves patients pictures unattended and unsecured now would it? (Knowing this now I would encourage others to not even visit her website since a company with a reputation like “namejuice” you never know what might be hiding in the code of her website). Probably the same type of person who gets their staff (Ramona) to aggressively and I might add incorrectly respond do google reviews? Now what is a common trait of someone who is guilty of doing something, lying or trying to cover things up? It is of course to respond in an aggressive manner. Just look at the responses by Dr Nancy Van Laekens staff. So something to think about for those of you reading this review. We will see how Dr Nancy Van Laekens staff responds to this review. Since everything that is stated in this review can be verified. So don’t be sheep people. I know before I purchase anything I dig deep before my purchase and before I let anyone touch my body I am even more diligent. And I encourage you to do the same. Chances are pretty high that your doctor may have been part of the government funnel that automatically redirects you to Dr Nancy Van Laeken. But the point of my review is to encourage others to do research since as we are all aware the government is always looking for the path of least resistance with no concern for quality just to get things done. Since everyone is well aware that you are nothing but a number to the government and their complete lack of quality control or due diligence is something to be expected.

Visiting Dr Nancy Van Laeken could honestly be one of the best decisions I have ever made. She is truly one of the most gifted, kindest and skilled Doctors I’ve ever met. It had taken me almost 2 years to loose around 180 pounds. With that weight loss I felt I needed to get a tummy tuck to remove excess skin. It was no small surgery. I had spoke with some of her past clients and Nancy came with great personal reviews. I had surgery with Dr.VL over a year ago now, and I’ve never felt or looked better in my life. My new flat stomach has really given me the motivation to maintain my weight loss. With amazing aftercare from the fantastic nurses and office staff. I absolutely feel that Nancy has put together a solid care team. I would absolutely recommend Dr.VL for plastic surgery. Thank You so much.

Dr. Van Laeken could not have been more professional, caring and an awesome surgeon when dealing with my operation. From the appointments leading up to the surgery, and the follow ups, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Highly highly recommend Dr. Van Laeken!!!!!!

Dr. Nancy Van Laeken is an incredibly skilled and empathetic surgeon. She has been by my side helping me with my breast cancer mastectomies and reconstruction over the past few years. She takes times to listen and empathize with any questions and concerns I have....and has never made me feel I was being unreasonable with anything I needed or asked for. Her compassion is top-class and her skills are unrivalled. Any negative reviews here have not been further from my experience with her or the experience any of my friends/colleagues/patients have had with her. I couldn’t even fathom anything but kindness, compassion and patience from Dr. Van Laeken. It always seems there are a few that need to complain, and those are the ones that feels moved to leave a review. Can’t win them all! Would recommended Nancy 1000%.

I would recommend Dr. Van Laeken for breast augmentation ...I went to see couple other Dr and they both said they could fix something that even myself not a dr knew couldn't be fix...She ended up fixing my problem and end result is great!

On April, 2018 was my first appointment with Dr. Nancy Van Laeken at the St. Pauls Hospital. I was a bit late then, she was already patiently waiting, smiling and she even met me at the Information Desk and then we proceed to her office with her team for questions and answers of my case-HEMI-FACIAL ATROPHY -LEFT FACE. It was a good semi-forum conversation with her team, I was kind of emotional because their is HOPE to restore my face. Dr. Van Laeken said that their is a line up for the surgery and I have to wait. Thinking that it will take 1 or 2 years but I was surprised. Melissa, called after 8 months, so happy. My second appointment was to met in her office (dainty). I met her friendly staff, Melissa,Lindsey and Ramona. Melissa did all the processing of the paper works in preparation of my surgery It was quick! and responds to my email requests promptly. On January 29, 2019 Dr. Van Laeken, Dr. Demianczuk and her team did my major surgery, HEMI FACIAL and ALT FLAP at VGH, I stayed 5 days at the hospital. On my second day, still in pain and can't move,I was surprised at 6:30 a.mDr. Van Laeken was doing her round. I didn't expect her, because I was thinking she will come to see me after 2 or 3 days.-INCREDIBLE! MY MOST AWAITED EVENT OF MY LIFE, January 14, 2020 Dr. Van Laeken and Dr. Demianczuk did my second minor surgery-DEBULKING/SKIN REMOVAL ON MY LEFT FACE (out patient) still in VGH . After the surgery, I heard Dr. Van Laeken told me : I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOUR FACE NOW, I smiled, very drowsy and fall asleep again because of the anesthesia. When I woke up my son was very happy with the RESULT though I have not seen my face yet. The next morning, I woke up a bit early, to remove the head dressing and to see my full face... I was teary-eyed, amazed, couldn't believe my face, it was such a BIG DIFFERENCE!!! compared with my face BEFORE, though it was still swollen, bruised and few veins are obvious but the veins can be fixed when the swollen settle down as per Dr. Van Laeken.. My neighbor came to visit me and she was amazed!... of the result. My GP who did the dressing on my face said : you look GREAT ! then Dr..Van Laeken did another dressing again after a week. I showed my face to my parents and my to my sister way back home thru VIDEO and my parents were teary eyed, they couldn't BELIEVED the BIG CHANGES on my face...very happy., sooo GRATEFUL Dr. Van Laeken. I AM ONE OF YOUR LESS FORTUNATE PATIENT THAT YOU CHANGED MY LIFE, with your COMPASSION ,I FEEL GOOD WITH MYSELF NOW, I AM BEYOND GRATEFUL OF WHAT YOU DID. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED IN MY HEART. MAY GOD BLESS YOU MORE I'm going back to work soon and I will be seeing Dr. Van Laeken in a month,

If there were a way to give negative stars I would. But since 1 star is the lowest available I will have to stick with that. I am writing this review for a dear friend who was tragically struck with breast cancer and had to forgo a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. To enlighten others before they make a choice that will forever alter the body and mind of someone they love or themselves since everything in this review is based on FACTS. But before I begin I would like to enlighten everyone about “online” reviews. Be very skeptical of them. Do some research. If someone just gives 4 stars or 1 stars without any justification then I would disregard them. Look for details that can actually back up the reason for the rating. And trust me I have details and then some about Dr Van Laeken. Dr Van Laeken did the initial expander placement for my dear friend. Immediately when the bandages were taken off my friend and her husband stated to Dr Van Laeken that it was to high.Like close to her shoulder bone high. Dr Van Laeken said oh it will come done. Which it never did and being a surgeon who has done this surgery hundreds of times she was well aware that it would not drop down but for some odd reason she thought that my friend and her husband would believe her which they did not. The day came when the expander was to be extracted and the permanent implant was to be inserted. Once again after the bandages came off the new permanent implant was excactly where the expander was although being reassured by Dr Van Laeken once again before the surgery that she would move it down. Once again Dr Van Laeken told my friend oh it will come down. Which it never did nor ever will. Dr Van Laeken made an artificial nipple and my friend returned to have the stitches removed. Dr Van Laeken "nurse" was supposed to have removed the stitches yet she failed to do this and caused my friend 2 trips to the emergency room and IV drip for an infection that was caused by Dr Van Laekens nurse inability to do her job correctly. (see below) She went in to get the nipple that Dr Van Laeken had made tattooed in her office. Dr Van Laken had Alannah Lane of Avalon Spa and Wellness Centre Inc do the tattooing. Complete incompetence (I have reviewed the spa due to space I will not repeat that horror story)Infection occurred 2 trips to the emergency room for IV antibiotics. No after care instructions were given nothing other than keep the bandage on for one week! She was scheduled to go in after to have the bandaged taken off at Dr Van Laeken office. My friends husband called Dr Van Laekens office was told them about the 2 trips to the emergency room and the IV drips. Their response oh send us a picture to see if it is necessary to see a doctor!??? So now one of her staff who is in charge of billing has suddenly become a medical doctor and can tell by sending a picture if it is necessary to see a doctor? This is nothing short of preposterous but sign of the times of my friends experience with Dr Van Laeken and the staff she employs. She most recently went in and Dr Van Laeken had discovered some stiches that her “nurse” neglected to take out 4 months ago! She pulled out some stitches that was over 3 inches in length. And Dr Van Laeken even stated that due to the fact that her staff was negligent in removing the stitches in their entirety it was probably the cause of the infection. Which forced my friend to go to the emergency room 2 times to get an IV drip of antibiotics. So friendly and kind do not cover up incompetence since that is what occurred to my friend in all aspects of not only by Dr Van Laeken but her whole office and staff and the people she chooses to associate with ( Alannah Lane Avalon Spa and Wellness Centre Inc) So once again do some research before you put your life and body in the hands of someone who can alter it for ever. Since 12 word reviews saying that everyone is friendly and kind do not give you any idea of what may happen to you if you trust someone to alter your body forever. Look for facts please see photo.

Wow, someone seems to have it out for Dr. Van Laeken. Some of the one star reviews seem fake and written by the same person? I happened to be looking her up for a friend and thought I would leave a review. Dr. Van Laeken did my mastopexy back in 2009. It's now 2020 and I am still completely thrilled with the results. Dr. Van Laeken was caring, professional, and had excellent bedside manner, as did her staff. Most importantly, she did a phenomenal job on my surgery and I would recommend her to anyone! Absolutely no regrets or complaints whatsoever. This woman does incredible work!

After doing some online research about Dr Nancy Van Laeken here is what I came up with. It appears that her staff (Ramona) takes it upon herself to post fake reviews to cover up patients honest reviews of Dr Nancy Van Laeken. (Whether or not Dr Nancy Van Laeken has anything to do with this or maybe even posing as Ramona is still undetermined) An obvious sign of this is the constant theme in the online reviews of Dr Nancy Van Laeken and the blatantly obvious false praise of Ramona along with false unsubstantiated claims of her medical prowess . Correct me if I am wrong but who are you supposed to be reviewing the doctor or her nurse? Since I could care less about their staff since they are not the ones who will be doing the procedure. I would much rather have a competent doctor with lousy staff then a lousy doctor with nice staff. Since Dr Nancy Van Laeken is not a family doctor that prescribes cream she is a surgeon so the onus about any review is about Dr Nancy Van Laeken competency not about how cheerful her staff are. As far as the reviews that I have come across (ratemds and google) I have made the following determination: The review by “Pam” is highly suspicious. Not only once again mentioning Ramona numerous times 3 to be exact while Dr Nancy Van Laeken was only mentioned 2 times??(once again a big warning flag for fake reviews) but for another “supposedly” cancer survivor to call out and doubt another cancer survivors experience now that is nothing short of shocking. There seems to be a theme in the reviews of Dr Nancy Van Laeken lots of fake praise followed up by aggressive responses by Dr Nancy Van Laeken staff. What is it that Dr Nancy Van Laeken is trying to hide?

I was referred to Dr. Van Laeken from a client of mine , who has worked with multiple Plastic surgeons in Vancouver as a surgical nurse , she told me that she was by far the best , I am BEYOND pleased with her work , she was friendly, had an extremely clean tasteful decorated office , I found all the staff to be pleasant, I honestly do not understand how anyone could think otherwise . Dr. Van Laken gave me the body I always wanted , thank you ????

Dr. Van Laeken is truly an excellent surgeon, she did an incredible job and supported me through a difficult time. Nothing was pushed on me and she let me make my own choices. I am amazed at the result and my scars are virtually invisible already, after only 6 weeks. Her office staff, especially Kelle, are lovely, kind and so patient with all of my frequent questions. I couldn't recommend the whole team enough. Thank you Dr. VL and staff for making me feel safe and strong.

I had a removal of implants. When I was seen at office after, one nipple was inverted. The staff acted like it was so unusual and accused me of already having an inverted nipple. When I told her no, she pressed on my breast, like that would fix the botched removal of implants. Please do not use this surgeon.

If there was an option for 10 stars, Dr. Van Laeken would get them all! She is the exact surgeon you want working on you - detail oriented, extremely experienced, takes pride in the perfection of her work and is amiable. She’s easy to talk to and understanding of your wants, but she is also convicted in knowing the right way to approach things. I feel so lucky to have had her work on a major surgery for me, and I would 100% recommend her and her team for both medical reconstructive surgery and also cosmetic surgery.

Dr Van Laeken is one of the best and most caring people and surgeons I have had the pleasure of meeting . I have had 3 surgeries with her over the course of 19 years and my experience has been incredible every time pre and post op. Most recently I had a major operation with her that required additional care. She not only made herself available to see me many many times she continued to stress to me that it’s important I feel comfortable and made sure to ease any concerns I had at any time. She called me on her vacation to ease a concern, she truly goes above and beyond. Her bedside manner makes you feel like she is a caring friend. For anyone considering surgery with her know that you will not only be under the care of a talented truly caring surgeon but her entire team mirrors that care as well.
