This is either a corrupted agency or a very poorly managed institution. Made complaint like 2 years ago. Seems like they are on the same side of the doctors. Tried to contact the investigator in the college, but the advisors are not helping at all. Made 4 calls, and finally someone who is willing to help.

Had surgery with his man over 10 years ago and I'm still dealing with his botched surgery issues. I was bedridden for 2 months, 2 days after my surgery my stitches ripped open after he refused to see. He would cancel my appointments. He didn't check up on my after surgery, Instead he went to go deposit the cheque we had written him. I would NEVER recommend this monster of a person! And I hope to god I never have to deal with him again.

If there were a '0' or better, a minus rating, that's what this organization would receive from me. After reviewing the reviews, I shouldn't be surprised in the response I received from them. I am surprised however, that the Ontario Ministry of Health, and the Ontario Patient Advocacy would direct me to this organization. It was pointless, a waste of time, and false belief that justice would occur. It took exactly 16 weeks to receive a response, and they completely dismissed my serious concerns. Initially, the intake individual leads you to believe they take complaints seriously, however, my concerns were twisted, manipulated and dismissed without even a bother to investigate my allegations through thorough and shocking medical documentation. If the doctor himself, had not done a turn about, I would be including the details of the serious complaint here. Working in the field of mental health, I'm quite aware of the standards of care, which went well below as a result causing serious physical and mental harm. Our health care system is poor when it comes to the care of those who struggle with mental illness. This organization is in place to protect doctors, not patients. Unless you have at least $30 000 disposable income for a good lawyer, you are at our health care's mercy. There is no recourse or investigation unless someone dies....which is pointless at that point.

After reading today May 24,2019 the Globe and Mail story on sexual assault and how the college did virtually nothing i felt compelled to write a review of how disgusted I am. Not only that but some time back I too had a small issue of negligence. The college does a wonderful job of hiring people that sound compassionate but at the end of the day, this org is as crooked as the democratic party of the united states. TOTALLY USELESS. Im convinced that if someone died at the hand of dr being negligent this committee would make if almost impossible to seek justice. In fact its so bad that I feel there needs to be government intervention on righting this org. its a govt run org crooked within itself that needs intervention maybe even from the RCMP. Read the other reviews here, sure it easy to write a negative review but there's more truth to be uncovered even if you throw the one that seem fruitless out. The college is in trouble and hopefully other eyes are seeing this and Im posting this only for the sake that this org needs a kick in pants to be most polite. In actuality you can fill in the the superlatives yourself. Its that bad and todays article in the globe 3 full pages was astounding so much so that it prompted me to write this. Our hospitals should be safe and if not there should be a governing body with prejudice. The college is a farce and if you're reading this thinking of filing a complaint don't even waster your time. If they were credible they would allow you to use negative findings but the college is so crooked in fact that they tell you flat out if they find something contravening that you cannot use any of their findings in court. That in itself should be illegal. After all if someone is guilty of a wrong doing why should they be protected by their own governing body!? Imagine if the FBI said...after our investigation of the POLICE... you can't use our findings in court?! Sounds crazy doesn't it?! This is how this college operates. Disgusting.

If you think or know that you are a victim of a medical malpractice due to a doctor, DO NOT go through the CPSO (Physicians Surgeons of Ontario). The CPSO is a regulated health body that has the right to restrict you from all information and documents that you will get from them via rule 36(3). If this information proves that you indeed were harmed, victimized, etc. you will not be able to use the information to sue the doctor in court. The best advice is to NOT go through the CPSO and alternatively seek written response from a doctor and try to obtain compelling evidence in a different way if you intend to bring the matter to court and seek compensation for your pain/suffering.

When I was an infant I was placed in a contraption that forced my legs apart and held my arms and legs down so that I couldn't resist or fight back and a doctor came in and removed part of my genitals without my consent or medical need. This organized protected him, Canada protects doctors who perform this pedophilic procedure with section 45 9f the Canadian Criminal Code. I'm in the process of appealing and regardless of the parallels of this procedure and rape I fully expect them to protect the doctor who cut me.

I have , because of mental health disorder and disability been discriminated against by a ontario surgeon, left suffering and lost all trust in ANY medical personal, after reading all the horrible comments below i can see that filing a report against the surgeon is a huge waste of time and effort, and here i was advised by council ( because i cannot afford lawyers ) to contact the college to report my discrimination, but after reading all this below, i guess its clear they do not care to support the health and well being of Ontario residents.. Guess its lawyers...

Corruption!!! I had been botched by a surgeon after cancer and had multiple surgeons back out of treating me very suddenly some even a day before operating. The cpso didn't even listen to what I said, sided with the doctor and I suffer still from his mistakes. The cpso is about protecting doctors in Canada and they know this which is why they get away with their botch jobs. It's like nothing in my 29 page response was ever read. Even my oncologist, family doctor and therapist notes were dismissed in favour of this surgeon. Makes you lose faith in the medical profession and this association!!

Having used the CPSO site several times for doctor and specialist search, I can say this site is very user friendly for patients and helps to filter information as per patient's individual needs. For the benefit of the public, it provides all the info including the Practice Guide for medical professionalism, upholding the values of the profession- Compassion, Service & Altruism.

Falsely painted as a beautiful resource to help residents of Ontario. However, the sad reality of the CPSO is very devastating- especially when your family immigrated here for a better quality of life. You experience/see what happens when licensed medical professionals harm you and it’s not documented (of course). Horrifying scarring & life upending experiences are treated as if it were perfectly legal. Things become swept under the rug, sugar coated and assumed. If I consider what I’ve experienced as only 1 patient, in only 1 area of abuse from a doctor...I can’t imagine the amount of incidents in which I haven’t experienced- that I know exist. An accurate and more common way many Ontarian’s sum up the CPSO: “The CPSO protects medical licenses over human lives.”

The investigator from the college of physician's purposely left out evidence i had sent and then when i sent additional evidence(lab work) they acknowledged that they received it but when it came to the committee's decision, they claimed they never received any lab work from me. very corrupt! I had appealed and the appeal board ruled in my favour but it just went back to the college of physicians to reinvestigate. They refused to investigate the first time so obviously they refused to investigate the second time. No chance of being heard!!!!!

The last issue I brought before the CPSO ended in the doctor being written to about continuity of care, and the doctor removing me from his roster for filing the complaint. Clearly my concerns about the complaint process were not considered this time either, and the explanation offered after the fact was enough to justify the doctor's unprofessional demeanor. Dr. Hafuth CPSO 64548, at Benton Medical Center in Kitchener, did not attempt to gain information about my current and past problems. He thought I was asking for orthodontics, and questioned why I would be seeing a doctor at a walk in clinic about my teeth. That was why I indicated that I called ahead. Not just to schedule the appointment, but to ensure I would be able to get the referral I intended to obtain. The duty of care was not met. I was trying to get a referral to a chiropractor I was already a patient of for the purposes of getting coverage for the orthotics. The respondent made no effort to access my MRI results. I could have brought a copy of the MRI results on a disk with me for the appointment, had I been made aware of the requirement, or signed whatever consent was necessary for the doctor to access my records, had the offer been made. This was not proposed. Instead, I was spoken to as if I was attempting to get a prescription for a controlled substance with no basis. No explanation was offered as to why the information could not be accessed. The Respondent looked at me and asked how he was supposed to know. He pointed to the door, but I ended the appointment by declaring the doctor was not familiar with the process of accessing my medical records for the purpose of making the assessment required to provide the requisition. To claim that my behaviour, after I left the appointment, was the cause of the termination of said appointment, is a pathetic attempt to justify the doctor's unprofessional demeanor. I am not acting in any professional capacity as a patient. As a patient, I expect a level of competence, and professional attitude from a physician. I have a diagnosis of a mood disorder, and did not go to the walk in clinic with the intention of being disruptive. I even mentioned that I called ahead to avoid any potential issues that may arise, and said that I could have brought a copy of the MRI results with me (which would have been the quickest way for the Respondent to assess a record of my condition, in order to provide the referral). The Respondent did not try to do his job, which is why I filed a formal complaint with the college of physicians. The fact that the committee's written decision completely dismisses the written complaint, and verbal confirmation of the details of said complaint, I don't have confidence that my appeal will lead to any form of accountability. The admission that the CPSO number should have been provided negates the point of me reporting this to the police, and the fact that I offered to call them myself as a result of Dr. Hafuth's unprofessional demeanor. I do not appreciate being labeled the cause of the issue that arose, when I pointed out that there are other public reviews about the physician, identifying the same behaviours. I pointed out that not every patient who has had a negative experience would have written the CPSO or a google review. My intent was to prevent this type of occurrence from affecting other patients, but clearly that isn't within the mandate. Acknowledging alternative facts provided by the Respondent is not a demonstration of professional accountability by neither this panel, nor the physician. It is an abuse of these processes.

People, The CPSO doesn't award damages. Complaints or findings here are not admissible in a civil lawsuit. There are a lot of good Doctors out there. Many Doctors, even the good ones will make mistakes. Chances of getting anyone to admit their mistake killed or seriously injured someone is slim to none. I think we can agree on this? No lawyer will take your case unless; A. You can pay them upfront B. The settlement is within reach worth their time ($200,000+) You will need to prove a few things: Breach of the Standard of Care Proximate cause Damages The Canadian Medical Protective Association has deep pockets and they will drag out the trial for as long as they can. You better have all your ducks in a row. Audio & video evidence can be invaluable with dates and times.

I requested from the investigator to bring my medical records from September, 2018 to May, 2019, and I emphasize that the most important part is from September, 2018 to December, 2018. The bribed investigator doesn't brought the most important part of my medical records, namely, she hide them to save the doctor from the punishments! As I continue to do academic research into the experience of finding a family physician here in the province and having met with over two dozen doctors in the past year, I do not understand why most of them continue to be employed. I have seen overly combative, abusive, ill-advised doctors cite categorically false information. I have heard patient experiences that just do not correlate with the level of medical care the College claims to provide. I fully recognize that the state of provincial medical system is not entirely the College's fault however the number of negative, abusive, and uneducated doctors out there is astounding.

Finding a Doctor who recognized health issues facing black women is very difficult. I have gone to so many doctors trying to resolved my scalp issue. All I ever gotten over the years was prescriptions or whenever you walk into a dermatologist clinic it seems your a bothered. What happened to moral and ethnical responsible doctors claims to have. Doctors get seriously punished only for Sexual Harassment, Insurance Fraud, and Extremely Heinous Crimes. Other than that, CPSO PROTECTS THEM AND EVEN REFERS THEM . This being said, in general, I think doctors of Ontario are doing their best, all things considered ( unrealistic volume of work, shortage of medical personal, everyday exhaustion and stress. They are humans too. They do have mental breakdowns too, they also turn to alcohol, drugs, gambling, and they too commit suicide). Often times, it is humanly impossible for them to provide 100% best service, not because they do not want to or lack knowledge, but because they are constantly going full blast and try to overcome fatigue) For example, I am very happy with my Family Physician --- he is very competent, kind, caring professional and conscientious. Can he inadvertently make a mistake or harm the patient or even non-deliberately cause a lethal outcome? Of course, he potentially can! He is just a run down human who himself suffers from high blood pressure and terrible lack of sleep. Therefore, I suggest that we also be good patients and do our part. Things do fall through cracks even in best offices: receptionists misplace or lose important diagnostic documents, doctors sometimes lose their focus. For example, each of us heard the phrase from the physician: " If you do not hear from us, it means all your labs and tests came back normal. We only call those patients whose results warrant some concern". However, CALL the OFFICE yourself regardless. Do NOT assume that everything is perfect, because you have not received the phone call from them. Be your own advocate. Always double-check, verify all labels, etc. Do not take anything for granted. Try to be your physician's "Partner/Friend/Helper" when it comes to your care. It is better for you and better for him. Also, treating your doctor with kindness, smiling, using humor goes a long way

I can't say enough, of the benifits it's given my life."BUT". For the strict, almost prison like rules that surround this treatment. And the severe inconsistency of the prescribers and the dispensers. Is so far out of control. Trying to stay gainfully employed is almost impossible. I've had full carry privileges for quite some time. Years. How are the patient's suppose to have any stability. Or consistency? When the people in charge are anything but?? The rules change by the pharmacy. By the doctor. Within the same town/city. Literally. As much as i advocate for this medication. The greed of the doctor's is turning methadone clinics into what the clinics were doing with oxycontin in mid 90's on. This needs to stop. And im a patient. Insane.⚓????????

I want to know who holds the CPSO accountable when they fail to do their duty in protecting the public from the wrongdoings of a doctor, and does a pathetic ridiculous excuse of an investigation. Who do you complain to When the College is in the wrong? They protect the doctor, and there is NO transparency about the so-called investigation. Where do I go? The Crown Attorneys office won't investigate the College. The police won't investigate the College. You know who investigates the College? The College does. Does anyone else see a HUGE ethical problem with this?

Nurses are the right hand to Physicans and usually the first to see and asses a critical situation. In regards to The college of nurses Ontario there are 1000's of nurses frustrated with this organization (as evident by the several google reviews). Review for CNO: Unable to get a hold of any staff through phone or email. Got to wait in line for at least 1.5hrs to speak 5mins with the receptionists (two of the slowest people they have working there). Not to mention who ever wrote that CPRNE exam is completely incompetent. The format of that exam is horrible, spoke with a few fellow physicians and asked them the questions indicated on that exam. Their response was " is that exam a joke? How can they even ask such questions". The questions are very vague and answers can be justified if explained (each patients is unique, perhaps sitting behind a desk has led them to forget this). Not to mention this organization is labelled as a "non-profit" organization, but they charge you an arm and a leg to get your license. I hope they realize that the people paying for their license aren't working as nurses and are probably students trying to pay off school. One of my fellow RPN's paid approximately $1000 just to write the exam and get a temporary license, who will come January have to pay a few hundred dollars on top of that to renew that new license. Who is overlooking this organization? Denfintily going to report this to the government in a well issued letter as these are only some of the concerns.

The College of Physicians Surgeons of Ontario performed a fraudulent investigation in 2012 in which I was the victim of a Dr. and his staff's gross misconduct. Before this experience I thought "the College of Physicians and Surgeons" was there to protect the public but for those of you who don't know these doctors. pay a membership fee and it is an organization to protect themselves not their patients. Even covering up the fraud, mutilation and permanent disfigurement and horrible treatment I received from a Dr. in Ontario which I reported. It sickens me a great deal to think that the people not only did this happen but the employees of the College of Physicians and Surgeons were paid a salary for performing this heinous cover-up on the atrocities that were committed against me. Buyer beware!, if a doctor in Canada messes up your cosmetic surgery or doesn't do what their paid to perform, your on your own, you probably won't get a legal settlement and "the college" or the government won't do anything to help exept waste alot of time money and paper and blame you for it. Get your sugery done overseas at least it will be done in a facility from this century.

The place exists for the exclusive purpose of protecting doctors. My doctor made up his own evidence after i sought to sue him. That evidence was accepted by the College. My evidence came from outside sources and demonstrated the truth of every aspect of my version. The decision was that they were going to accept the doctor's version. i appealed. In the appeal i noted that the copy of the doctor's report was so poorly photocopied as to be unreadable. Nobody there could make out more than 1 word in ten, not even his lawyer. Still, i lost the appeal. Ten years later there were finally so many complaints against this doctor that the College finally decided to monitor his practice. He just retired. Get rid of the absolutely useless college. They are a 20,000 foot tall impediment to a patient getting any justice. Indeed, for their many years of standing in the way of justice, i would love to see these people get some real prison time.

Terrible shame. We filed a serious complaint with the college . Our information included photos and well documented events in regards to our dtr. Clearly the panels decision, that no wrong doing occurred with our dtr. Is complete and absolute nonsense. Clearly the college is there to protect its members , and that's it. As far as protecting the public, that is ridiculous lies. I'm saddened that our personal manner was dealt with so poorly. No transparency and behind the scenes decision making. What a very unfortunate corrupt group.

I spent 30 years as the wife to a doctor of orthomolecular medicine. Now I am his widow. As far as I can see, the College of Physicians and Surgeons has only one interest - promoting the sinecure (no cure). They have it in for elderly doctors who reach 70. The experience, expertise and finesse of these elderly doctors means nothing to the College of Physicians. This college promotes one thing - the Standard of Care. If the Standard of Care maims or kills, that's okay. My husband died horribly of a broken heart after they crashed down on him when he turned 70. I wish I could sue them for elder abuse but I know I would lose. It is 2 years later and I just got a reply from the College concerning my complaint against a palliative care doctor. It is now the "Standard of Care" for a doctor to come to your door, threaten you with being charged with neglect, silence you with threats of the police and kidnapping of your elderly dying relative if you oppose physician assisted suicide. Don't think your "Power of Attorney" will do a damn thing.

I think it is time we move away from trusting doctors. I had a chronic medical condition with severe pain and doctor flat out refused to treat the pain. The doctor wanted to avoid prescribing any pain medication to protect themselves incase of addiction over protecting a patient in agony. And I have received pain medication before from an old doctor and I use it sparingly. Also if your are black forget it, doctors will already have a bias toward prescribing you any pain medication. They think you feel less pain and you have a propensity for addiction. If you are black you are more likley to die from the mistrust they create than any pain killer. Youll end up going to see them less and get under treated. Also had kidney stones once and I was laughed at when I asked for pain medication. Then after 3 hours they dropped their bias and realized from the xray it was a kidney stone. Move on from trusting doctors. Use doctors to get the tests and diagnostics that you need but take your health into your own hands.

It is a complete waste of time to file a complaint against an Ontario Physician unless the Physician doesn't treat a life threatening condition. My advice to people: if you are in the hospital and things are not going well, have the Physician write down everything they tell you, so they can't later change their story. If you are returning to the hospital because you are still unwell, get copies of your previous medical records and bring them with you and go over them with the Physician, even if they tell you they have access to the information. Tell the Physician that you have questions about the medical records, if they don't want to go over the medical records.

If I can’t consult my dr for honest medical advice based off his knowledge, experience and ethics and instead it is based upon whichever way the public health narrative is trending, how can citizens receive quality health care? For anyone interested, this is what they’re paying physicians during covid. Which is why no one has the backbone to stand up and actually advocate for those of us concerned for our children’s mental health in these endless lockdowns. This is bribery plain and simple. $3000 per ICU shift is insane. It’s every man for himself now.

1) Just in case, you received the substandard care in the hospital and many people examined you ( nurses, students, residents and physicians in charge), MAKE SURE, you obtain the copies of the clinical notes regarding your case written by ALL of the ABOVE parties!!! Often times, a Resident or a Fellow can be on the right path diagnostically and in terms of suggestions of the best therapeutic approach, BUT their Supervising "Full Blown" physician can be totally wrong ( in terms of therapy and EVEN in terms of ethics). Often , doctors -residents are just BULLIED by their supervisors to follow the supervising doctor's strategy. And they DO it because they are TERRIFIED to challenge him ( since he can turn their life into misery ). Therefore, the notes of the physicians-trainees can be very valuable in establishing justice! But guess what??? Interestingly enough, the physician -in -charge is ALLOWED by the CPSO to simply destroy the clinical notes of the younger physicians in training! Call the CPSO and see it for yourself! Totally disgustng and manipulative policy on their part! I was shocked when I discovered it while doing my own investigation when I filed my complaint against the physician who provided a very substandard care . 2) ALSO, phone Colleges of Physicians of Other Provinces to find out how they approach patients's complaints, and what EXACT steps those Colleges take to do proper investigations. You will be surprised how much extra valuable information you will learn! The College of Physicians of Ontario tends to become very weasley and elusive in their answers and explanations. It is like pulling teeth! ! They would give you very fragmented info, and omit key points! I discovered it when I personally called around Colleges in other provinces and , this way, I made all the pieces of puzzle fit! 3) Best if you could hire your own lawyer ASAP ---- hands down! !!! 4) If you feel that CPSO did not handle your complaint properly, apply for a HPARB review ( even though they are also sneaky and manipulative ). In this case, CPSO will send you a thick binder of their own investigation materials ( per law). And here too, you might be very surprised to learn what facts came to light during the initial investigation by the CPSO! If you do NOT file a review request to the HPARB, then CPSO will NEVER share with you that extra info they collected during their own investigation. So be smart, fast and careful! 5) As a side note, yes, CPSO do gang up and destroy the mental peace and health of many older physicians when they want to force them "off the scene ". Because it is very EASY for them to "concoct a case" against the most dilligent and conscientious physicians if the College "determines" that someone needs to be pushed out of the way. Dirty games, shameless hypocrisy :(((

I don’t know which is worse; the Ontario College of Doctors or the Ontario Medical Association. The documented stories and evidence of Ontario patients being totally without any meaningful way to have their legal, moral and medical rights protected is disgraceful. I have no doubt innocent patients lives have been destroyed due to the lack of any accountability fromOntario doctors or their paid, biased organizations such as the College. Until government revamps and starts a truely powerful, independent organization to protect patients rather than doctors, expect the inability to sue or have a doctor held accountable. Just one of many complaints: improper treatment and then distroying 30 years of patients medical records. This is apparently allowed by the College! Your years of medical records do NOT belong to you nor is there any legislation in Ontario that requires Doctors to provide the notes or records of your treatment! These records were also required for legal and tax related forums and future treatment with other doctors. .Now distroyed (after asking for them repeatedly) all rights to retro active government dissabilty programs and compiling with legislation is forever LOST ! Doctor has refused his responsibility to fill out required forms ( even if paid a fee) , ignored court requests for information on his patients treatment history, and has led to homelessness, mental illness. This is a common account of the many who have simply given up with expecting any protection of legal, medical and moral rights in Ontario It is a documted fact that is almost impossible to sue a doctor in Ontario. The financial “war chest” and stonewalling by the College and Medical Association, in support of their members, makes any retribution impossible unless you are extremely wealthy or find a lawyer willing to fund your litigation. Good luck getting any evidence from the Doctors! ( see above regarding destruction of records) The college, OHIP and all other mandated organizations meant to protect patients is a fraud and simply there to protect their paying memeber- the Doctors. Ontario is a very dangerous place to live should you be treated by an incompetent, ignorant, self protecting and hateful Dr. ( hateful towards OHIP and the Payment system- which they intesionally have to manipulate to “make up” for their fix fees- and that results In a big drop in their quality of patient care-especially family and GP Drs) Many believe more and more Doctors today are allowed to be less qualified ( especially as compassionate professionals) .The Doctor shortage allows the college to protect those who are permitted to move from other regions where they have been penalized or expelled- yet those records are not allowed to be revealed in Ontario. What could be more strange than to see that this is at least the fifth time that I try to publish a review and, strangely, it disappears every time, simple coincidence or deliberate will to hide the truth from the public ? The lady from the CPSO and who handled my complaint did absolutely nothing. I chewed up her work by providing her with all the evidence of what I went through at the Grand River Hospital. It took her 22 months, instead of the 10 indicated on their website, to allegedly deal with my complaint. During those 22 months, I kept asking for news by email and telephone and each time she refused to inform me of the progress of my file. However, she kept asking me to answer her questions, which I always did, and in return, she always refused to answer mine. I received a repugnant decision from the CPSO, which protects the staff of this hospital while I came out of a small 12-minute surgery of the wrist (removing a cyst) under general anesthesia without consent, woke up from this surgery practically naked (my husband witnessed this) and bleeding from my private parts while having excruciating pelvic pain. I contacted the CPSO investigator to justify the decision and learned that she had been removed from her task. Investigating my inexplicable side effects from the surgery I met several doctors, performed several medical exams that proved the presence of blood, met the S. A. Centre, questioned the hospital that hid behind its procedures and the lies of the surgeon and the anesthesiologist, filed a complaint with the Police, solicited tests with the Forensic (tests that also proved the presence of blood) and filed a complaint with the College of physicians and surgeons. All the people I consulted chose to hide rather than say out loud what everyone knew had happened to me. I’ve consulted several lawyers who haven’t moved a finger for me, so please don’t be fooled like me, if anything happens to you, be informed you have 2 years to file a lawsuit from the day of the surgery ! The CPSO has strangely took its decision after this 2-year delay, error or deliberate will ? Destroyed by what happened to me, I want to inform people and ask you to document yourself before putting your life in the hands of that kind of doctor. Please, ask doctors to write down your wishes and what they intend to do. Request a copy of your medical file. Some doctors will not hesitate to lie to cover their mistakes or protect their ego. Visit the CPSO website and you will see how many doctors are convicted of s. a. Read information on Internet, like those concerning anesthesiologist George Doodnaught, obstetrician Peter Potts, Court of appeal for Ontario : Williams Vs. Why only one star? My wife just developed another sports related injury, requiring treatment, and I just found out that, our go to doctor for our injuries for the past 15 years, Tony Galea, has been suspended by you. WOW! 9 years after the fact??? Ok. I get that you need to get your pound of flesh out of this. I've read some of the other reviews posted and punishment dolled out for a variety of reasons, most of which have to do with patients harmed, abused, etc. I am not aware of any patient Tony has harmed over the years, and I know some of them personally. I referred them. Obviously, his deed probably offended only those in authority, such as you. Bottom line here is this. Tony is a top notch caring professional, with cutting edge treatment techniques, and the only doctor my wife and I have trusted with our athletic health over the years. The same is true for all the other patients we know who go to him. We have developed a deep and personal trust-type relationship with Tony over the years, the kind that provides comfort and peace of mind for the patient. Also the kind that, any doctor worth his salt hopes to have with his/her patients, which produces unwavering loyalty. So, what does this mean to us? Well, my wife is in tremendous physical pain, and, now, in a very high state of emotional duress, because her DOCTOR, her ROCK, has been taken away by you, and we now have to go into uncharted waters, with a lot of anxiety and apprehension with someone new. PHYSISIAN DO NO HARM!!??? Why did you feel the need to punish us, the patients???? What have we ever done to you?? if Tony is guilty of something which you felt required financial punishment,( as in not being able to earn a living for a time) , then why not just fine him? Why not just have him turn over his fees or work for free for a time, or donate his fees to a cause or research of some kind. If you think you are protecting us, his patients by taking him away from us for some time, you couldn't be more wrong. Just talk to my wife and you will see the emotional and psychological duress you have caused. PHYSICIAN DO NO HARM! If your motives are more sinister,(as in cause major damage to his practice by his patients abandoning him), while I can't speak for every patient, on behalf of those I know, again, you couldn't be more wrong. We stay because we trust, and because past experiences and results speak for themselves. So, ladies and gentlemen, PHYSICIANS, please UNDO this HARM. You have the power and the means to correct your punishment, to punish what you consider wrong, without producing COLLATERAL DAMAGE.

I had recent complaint against an emergency doctor whose only goal was to get rid of patients or send them home the fastest way he can. My injury wasn’t looked after. Cpso sided with him. What’s worse, this doctor recommended Advil which I’m allergic to. For some miraculous reason, cpso said it wasn’t on triage (my allergy to nsaid got “wiped” out on my record lol). For me that’s funny because I’m sure I was asked about allergies. And in my profession, we would get punished if we didn’t probe from patient enough. If you have a complaint, don’t bother complaining to cpso as they will never be on patient’s side. Just go straight to your lawyer. My only consolation is I took their time covering up their buddy’s crime. And wait, I would appeal to further give this useless organization and useless doctor something to do. They’d regret not looking after me as I won’t stop until I get justice. Wait, I got referred by my family doctor to a specialist after, that means the thing missed out on my medical condition, if only it cared for my medical condition.

I gather information from the net the on average every Canadian paying at about $6,000 annually via taxes towards health care. I have a question. Can I get it by cash and spend those money in another country with good, paid professionals? By the way after 20 min on hold nobody picked up and my call was ended, it is 3:57PM. it took me time to file the complaint as i went through the correct steps, i was advised before filing that no one has MY best interest, and those people were correct, i had proof of misconduct and discrimination, but it was not taken seriously , i am left suffering, no one has patients best interest. And the surgeon gets away with it. I knew i should have just got a lawyer , at least then possibly something would have been done and i would feel safe and welcomed in seeking much needed orthopaedic services in my home town, instead due to mental health disorders, i am pushed away. And that is okay with the college !!

I am no fan of the College but the amount of ignorance posted here is astounding. More than a few posters describe the College as funded by taxpayers, which is so ignorant it's beyond pathetic. Do some research before you post drivel. The fact is the College is 100% paid for by doctors. Every doctors pays $2000 a year to the CPSO. The College gets ZERO dollars from the government. But the socialists banned private doctors and private hospitals years ago so they could unionize all hospital workers to get dues from them. In any other country in the world including even socialist Sweden and Norway, if I want to spend your after tax dollars to see a doctor privately, you are allowed, except for this dump. In any other country. if I want to spend $200 and see a family doctor that spends some quality time with me, I can. But not in this one. Here, I have to wait in a dirty run-down waiting room with 30 other people and grumpy underpaid staff, for 2 hours to see an overworked unhappy doctor for 2 min because he has to spend another 10-15 minutes writing an essay about the visit to satisfy the College. The gov pays the clinic a literally pathetic $30 for a visit, no matter who it is, and what the problem is. So he has to see 6 patients an hour just to run the office, pay rent and pay the staff whose wages keep creeping up while his keeps going down. Instead of running your mouths about the College, go do some research and complain about the people who are the real problem: the socialist politicians of Ontario who see doctor care as a pawn and commodity to get votes. They keep lowering the fees but expect the same or better level of service. What other profession gives the same level of service when you keep cutting their pay? Who? Does your contractor build the same kitchen if you pay him 30% less? Would your dentist, lawyer, accountant give you same service if you suddenly cut their pay? The College is used as a scarecrow to the doctors to force them to give the same or better service when the government keeps taking their pay. The system is imploding and the public's attitude for "getting something for nothing" and politicians' deceit is at the core of it. As I have photographs proving it. It was a younger guy that they are covering up . CPSO doesn't serve doctors or patients. This body only serves itself. The profession of medicine was supposed to be "self-regulated", the only thing that's self-regulated is the College, which means it has no oversight in financial, policy, or other matters. The College solely serves its own interests which are cushy jobs, nice pensions, 6-8 weeks paid time off during the year, and many more lavish employee benefits to count. No wonder it's in the top 100 employers of GTA. From its ivory tower, it lives off money from doctors who have to work in the front lines with sick demanding patients in the face of ever-dwindling recourses from the most corrupt government in Ontario's history. It must be really nice for the College not to have to worry about a financial bottom line and always increase its budget. I mean, what employer wouldn't want to be praised as in the top 100? That could happen when the employer doesn't have to worry about a bottom line because they just impose an increase on doctors' annual dues. What choice do doctors have? Not pay and lose their livelihood? The College loves the sham "self-regulation" status because it can continue robbing doctors of their money, dignity and livelihood. The College shames example doctors convicted in its kangaroo system of justice not because it's the right thing to do but because it's in the self-interest of the College to keep its gravy train without any oversight. This out-of-control bureaucracy needs to be abolished and replaced by a government body that has financial and regulatory oversight. It would serve the interests of the patients and doctors better for complaints to be handled in a special but real court rather than behind the College's doors.

The Doctor fail to comply with the College request. This gave the Doctor time to alter my medical records which are now useless. The Doctor totally missed diagnose issue . The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is a joke and should be dismantled . Because of the Colleges wrong decision has now brought me to suicide intentions. Death is on my mind every day. Absolutely Horible place. They protect their unqualifed doctors instead of doing a through investigation. i would give 0 stars if i could. For privacy reasons and possible revenge. I will have only first letter of the doctor. Dr C couldn't diagnose properly. My mom told me to check for H. Pylori, and she was correct. Dr C give me give me IBS probiotics when i went in for bronchitis cause every winter i get bronchitis. Instead of doing through investigation. CPSO closed my case and simply said it will be on record which i highly doubt they record the case in writting. This kind of behaviour is why young people are discouraged entered the field.

Do not trust this place to protect you, the patient. The College is there to protect the doctors, not the patients. I filed a complaint with them after my mother received the wrong diagnosis by Dr. Anne Shin at Mackenzie Health hospital and my mother quickly died. The doctor did not treat my mother for her real problem, which she knew she had and the doctor did not tell us about this real problem . All of this I found out after my mother died. The doctor said my mother had cancer which it turns out she did not have, confirmed by an autopsy. She died from her real problem, which the doctor knew about but did not treat. The MRI that the doctor based this cancer diagnosis on, did not say my mother had cancer. It said it was suspicious for cancer. The doctor lied to us. The doctor decided to tell us she had cancer and to treat her as such, to just let her die with no treatment. This way Dr. Shin, would have less work to do! She would have one less patient to deal with! Somehow the College did not think it was below the standard of care to misdiagnose someone, not treat her real problem and let her die from her real problem. The College gave no consequences to the doctor. They let her get away with murder! The College is all about protecting doctors.
