As of day the firm receives a rating of 2.9 stars over 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is average, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can say that the valuation is quite reliable. If people have bothered to give their opinion when they are happy, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to put feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Plastic Surgery corresponds to the category of Dermatologist.
I agree with lots of other comments. The place looks nice, the receptionists are all lovely ladies. But you're not going there to see a receptionist, right? The dermatologist Dr Singh was a complete waste of my money and my time. The first phrase he told me after I briefly described him my concerns (asking his professional opinion!) was "You tell me what kind of issue you have, you know it better" . Thanks a lot, I've been waiting for 2 hours in the queue for this kind of expertise. You better go see another doctor.
I had moles removed from face which wa a result of sun damage. The procedure was painful, but the results were amazing. However, they are very expensive, but they seem to use up to date technology. I find the Nurses and other assistants fake, they ask how you are doing, but its seems like a struggle for them to ask. I just prefer in that case for them to do their procedure so I can leave. The doctor always telling me, "this is what my black clients use", although his ethnicity also shares dark skin. I cant believe a professional would be so racially incentive and unprofessional. Additionally, if you have a 1:00 appointment, you wont be seen until an entire hour after, sometimes even longer.
I have a mixed experience. The wait times are horrible. I arrived 25 mins prior to my scheduled appointment only to be seen 30 minutes AFTER my appointment. The doctors are very nice and the place looks beautiful but the wait times are horrible and leave me searching for a different dermatologist. My first visit was for the clinic, my wait time was over 3 hours long.
The clinic was professional and well set up. If you are going as a walk in arrive as early as possible - like 7am. We arrived at 7:45 and waited until shortly before 11am. The doctor we saw was good with my child and took the time to explain - we did not feel rushed
The attitude of the counter staff is very arrogant. Wait for 3 hours.
I use a mail in pharmacy so I had called into the clinic to ask if it's possible for the doctor to fax the prescription to my pharmacy. Was told right away that 'we are not your administrators' (so great start!). I was spoken to in a very condescending manner in a tone that I wouldn't use even with people I dislike. Anyone who has ever experienced racism can quickly identify 'that sneering condescending tone'. It makes you regret ever asking their help in the first place. Perhaps I caught her on a bad day, or maybe it was work pressure. Regardless, we deserve to be treated like human beings. The two stars in my review are for the other staff member who was managing the reception when I went there in person (sorry I couldn't grab your name!). She on the other hand, was polite, courteous and considerate. Hopefully being around a colleague who think it's okay to talk down to people won't rub off on her.
Kidding me? Walk ins only between 7-11am ?! Nothing available for over a month for book appointments? Nobody answers the phone so you’ve got to walk all the way there to find this out.. waste of time!
I wouldn't go here again if my skin was on fire. The doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me , did not even examine my skin and couldn't even diagnose a common skin problem. If you are thinking of going to the free rapid access clinic remember that you get what you pay for. In this case less than nothing.
Rapid Access Clinic - Got there at 6:30am on a Tuesday (there were two people already in front of me) waited until 7:30am until the receptionists came to unlock the doors. Handed them my health card and referral, then filled out an intake form. Was seen about 25 minutes later. Overall, the appointment was short and to the point and the doctor was friendly and understanding. Was well worth the waiting I’d say.
My girlfriend went here with her mother to address the random appearance of painful blisters appearing on her body, they went through standard waiting times, they were seen by a male doctor of Hindu backgrounds who told her mother to stop talking, that she didn't know what she was talking about when she was only asking questions. Without even taking much of a look at her he said they were bites. Her family doctor gave her a swab to take to a lab to find out what it was and he then proceeded to tell my girlfriend that her family doctor has no idea what she's talking about, there's no reason to do that because he knows they're bites. Tried to pressure her into a skin graph, telling her it will hurt and scar her, but the it's the only thing that'll help. I'll never go to this clinic, and if I ever pass by it, I'll be sure to tell everyone in the waiting room how absolutely deplorable the doctors are here.
Where do I begin. I came in for a skin infection on my face last week expecting to see a dermatologist. I was seen by Dr. M Prabhakar and prescribed me antibiotic pills and cream and my infection was swabbed. Yesterday, I went back for a follow up and it was worse. They had the results of the swab already. He told me there was a bacteria but didn't tell me what kind. He prescribed me another cream and stated if that doesn't clear it up, they would do a biopsy to find out what it was. Thankfully, I looked at the paperwork given with the cream and it said it was for skin conditions such as excema and helped with inflammation and that it thins the skin and can increase risk of skin infection!!! So this guy gave me a cream that would make it even worse!! I went to a regular walk in clinic today and the doctor there was able to pull up my results from the swab and it showed I have a staph infection!! I was given the correct antibiotics today. Dr. Prabhakar acted like he didn't know what it was and gave me something to make it worse and was going to a biopsy on a staph infection!! It's on my cheek close to my eye! The results were printed out and given to me by the walk in clinic today and that's exactly what it says. And to top it off, I asked Dr. Prabhakar at my appointment yesterday how long he's been a dermatologist and he stated he was actually just an internal medicine doctor who does "some" dermatology. So he's not even a specialist. I came all the way from St. Catharines twice to come there and be taken care of. A staph infection could kill me if it's not treated. I don't know about the other doctors but this guy has no clue what he's doing.
long waiting
Front desk is not helpful. The medication that doctor in this clinic had prescribed me did not work and make my issue worse,so I went there after 4 weeks of using that, at 8:00 in the morning to follow up, they did not accept me and asked for another referral. I prepared it and came back at 10:45 again they refuse to accept because of high volume of people but they are suppose to accept patients from 8:00 to 11:00. After arguing with them that the reason I went there again is "their doctor misdiagnose" they asked me to com back at 2:00 pm I went there, this time they were very helpful.
I went to Avant Derm for over a year and only had pleasant experiences. I got a referral from a walk in clinic and saw Dr Marissa Josephs who was incredible, so friendly and professional. She really helped educate me on what was causing my issues, what to avoid, what skincare was acceptable, etc. She didn't push any products on me which I loved. We also used some trial and error until my problems went away. The waiting room was always packed for the rapid access clinic and despite the amount of chairs sometimes you had to stand, but when I could see the elderly and tons of children who were waiting to be helped it really didn't bother me. I did have pre-booked appointments and never had to wait long until they were ready for me. On one of their craziest days I had ever seen I think my appointment was delayed by 15 minutes tops. And all the staff was very apologetic and sanitary measures weren't sacrificed despite the rush. Exam rooms were spotless and the front desk staff were efficient and friendly. I have recommended this clinic to several friends.
I was referred to see Dr. Singh through my walk-in doctor, I had 3 appointments with this Dr. and he was extremely unpleasant and brash. I felt like he didn't care and wanted to be done with my appointment as fast as possible because he mentioned he was very busy. When it comes to the treatment, I was given an anti-cancerous treatment that caused major rashes and crusting all over my face. I wasn't told this would happen and it was terrifying not getting any adequate aftercare from this Dr. I recently needed to see a dermatologist again and my walk-in doctor sent another referral to this clinic, but I will not be going. Definitely do not recommend going here - and I never write Google reviews but I felt inclined to share this.
This place is a god send, saved me. I would've been waiting who knows how long otherwise. Very quick and efficient.
I don't care about waiting time or bad attitud. As long as i can see doctor and they can cure me. I arrived that place at 7:40 in the morning. After I read so many reviews complaining about waiting time, I think I'm lucky for waiting 90 mins. Reception is good, they are nice. I can feel doctor looks a little bit urgent. He speak fast. It only takes 5 mins. I won't blame him cause there are so many people need his help and I won't blame him for he is not comfort me. Most importantly, Doctor is good cause I have medical background. I know he is right. That's enough. BE THERE EARLIER if you want to see doctor.
The dermatologist do not give insight or any useful information about skin. They only check up on your Accutane journey if that's what you came here for like I did. They ignore what really matters. For example, good diet, exercise and lots of water. I had to learn this the hard way. The lady at the front desk has too much attitude for her position and lacks respect.
arrived right at 7am and there were already 13 patients ahead. I thought I was going to spend the entire morning but they were pretty quick. Dr Singh is very knowledgeable, & pleasant - took his time to diagnose, & educate me on the condition. I'd recommend him 1000%.
The nurses are absolutely wonderful. Thank God for this clinic. Just prepared for a long wait if you are a walk-in patient
By far the worst medical experience I have ever had. If you are seeking a dermatologist for a medical problem look elsewhere. This place only cares about cosmetic procedures.
The receptionist alone, was a huge turn off for me. I found the lady very condescending over the phone. Would not recommend this clinic.
Not enough doctors, they turned me away during an emergency
If you can, ask for a referral elsewhere. Dr. Singh joked about my eating disorder and laughed it off (after incorrectly assuming what eating disorder I have when discussing my medical history). I don’t think I need to explain how inappropriate and damaging this was. I left feeling ashamed and triggered. This is not a safe space for real medical issues and I will be looking into how to report this behaviour.
Dr. Singh is a great doctor, his treatments are very effective. The clinic provides a walk in which is very convenient for anyone wanting an assessment fast.
Wait time was over 2.5 hours for a walk-in during the morning designated walk-in time period. Doctors are good, but the wait time just leaves a very bad experience.
I was referred here by my GP at the time because I had concerns about a few moles I had. Getting the appointment was quick and the wait time wasn't awful but the positive experience stops there. Once I got in to the room (which is entirely cement with no heating and when it's -30 outside how are you expected to take your clothes off to show your skin when the room is as cold as it is outside???) I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for the doctor in there. Then when the doctor finally comes in they spent, no joke, a solid.... 2 minutes looking at all the moles I was worried about only to say "they're fine" hand me a bookmark of the ABCDE's of moles and send me on my way. The entire time I spent talking to the doctor could not have been more than 5 minutes. The entire reason I came was because I had moles exhibiting signs of that stupid ABCDE bookmark you handed me! Anyways, I left stupidly trusting that 2 minute "Exam" and now 1.5 years later I am once again worried about those same moles AND new ones because they have changed in appearance! I tried calling to see if I can get an appointment thinking it would be considered a follow up but nope, they expect you to go through the whole referral process all over again even though it's for the same concern as last time! This place is ridiculous. Now I have to try and get a referral somewhere else and potentially wait months just to be seen but if the service is better than these guys I can't really complain.
I was referred to Avant Derm by the emergency room at Toronto General Hospital. After waiting the 2.5 hours (which is standard, typically 3 hour wait) I saw Dr. Davindra Singh. He was extremely short, seemed annoyed that I asked him to elaborate on what my diagnosis was, and when I asked about an extremely high dosage of prednisone he prescribed me for one month, he mocked me. Overall, extremely rude, dismissive and arrogant. If anyone at AvantDerm is reading this, please understand that we have the patience to wait up to 3 hours to see your Doctors, the least your Doctors can do is not be disrespectful and try to shove your patients out the door within 5 mins.
I like Dr.Singh, think he is very attentive and think the office is very clean and high-tech, but I feel the receptionists are quite disrespectful. Today, I came for an appointment five minutes late before of traffic on Mill Street due to the street closure (for context, traffic outside of THIS clinic), and the receptionists rudely turned me away, all because of five minutes. It was disappointing - I came from far away and had to spend quite a bit of money to get there. When I usually see Dr.Singh, it is a 5-20 minute wait, which I don't mind, but I don't see why I was turned away for being five minutes late (again, due to traffic on Mill Street, which you have to go on to get to AvanteDerm). Considering the receptionists never answer my calls or return my voicemails when I call, I had no way of telling them I would be late.
Wasted 2 hours of my life waiting in the freezing cold just to have the doctor prescribe a topical immunosuppressant cream to an infected patch of skin…. I knew he had to be wrong so I called my physician and she immediately knew just from looking at photos that the area was infected. She prescribed me an antibiotic and instructed me not to use the cream he prescribed me until the infection had completely cleared. I could have had a horrible antibiotic-resistant infection spreading all over my face had I put the immunosuppressant cream directly on the infected skin like he told me to. During the appointment I even asked him “doesn’t this look infected to you?” to which he answered “no not at all.” How is a 24 year old girl with no medical training whatsoever able to identify a skin infection better than a board certified dermatologist? Something is not adding up! Waste of time and narrowly avoided a huge health problem.
The visit was extremely disappointing. The receptionist was friendly and I was seen by the doctor within 15 mins of arrival. But the whole consultant with Dr. Kim felt like just two minutes and done. He didn’t seem to care at all. He didn’t ask many questions. He took a peek at my affected area and started typing right away. He prescribed me a cream I was already using, and promised it will work coz he prescribes it (no it hasn’t been helping!) then he left the room before I could even react to what just happened, and I couldn’t ask any questions at all. I waited a month for this appointment, and now I have to get another referral to a different dermatologist. Don’t waste your time waiting in line for the walk in appointment.
Found Dr Singh to be very rude and patronizing, prescribing drugs with no explanation and belittling you if you ask for more information. Staff were generally excellent though. Long wait.
Been coming to the clinic for 2 years now. Great doctor, helpful staff, clean office and easy to get to (take the King Distillery street car to the end and cut across the distillery district). I had nothing but positive experiences. I know lots of people complain about the wait time. However if you consider how long it will take you to book a regular dermatologist then the wait is not so bad. The free WiFi help with the wait, just make sure you charged your phone. The real issue with that is our health system where seeing a specialist is very difficult, this is a great clinic to help you if you need to see a dermatologist quickly.
I was referred to AvantDerm for a specialist to assess an odd lesion on my leg. Rather than wait months for a specific appointment, I decided to go for the drop-in hours. The first time I tried to go, I arrived around 9 am, and the waiting room was completely full, with a line up out the door onto the street. I decided to come back another day. The second time I went, I showed up at 7:45 am, and there was once again a line up out the door, although it looked less packed in the waiting room. I accepted that I would be there a while and made peace with that. I ended up being seen around 10:30 am--so nearly 3 hours of waiting. Despite the long wait time, I will say that everyone working there was beyond lovely. Both receptionists handled the high volume of patients with kind smiles and understanding voices. When I went up to ask how much longer my wait would be, one receptionist took the time to count the number of people before me, so I could have a realistic expectation. I saw Dr. King for my consultation. His manner is so refreshing--I can't tell you the number of arrogant, condescending specialists I've seen for various issues who make me feel like I'm wasting their super important time by coming to them with a health concern. Dr. King was kind, talked to me like a fellow human being, took my concern seriously, and even made some small talk during our brief 10-minute or so encounter. I ended up seeing a nurse practitioner the same day for a biopsy, and he was also lovely! Explained everything thoroughly, was upbeat and professional, and also made some small talk to help distract me from the procedure. TL;DR: The wait is long for the drop-in hours, but the staff are so lovely and professional that it left a glowing impression.
I went in at 8:35 am, with a written doctors reccomendation and a highly visable and irritated rash all over my body and even on my eyelids. I was crying and visibly in pain. They told me the soonest they could book me would be a month and a half away OR I could stay and try and get a walk in before appointment hours start. The wait time was "at least two and a half hours". Their walk in ends at 11am so I wouldn't even be able to see a doctor. This is the second day in a row I have travelled the hour and a half to make it there for 8 am and they still wont see me. "Try again tomorrow" is all they said. Save yourself some time. Don't go here.
If you're walking in, GO EARLY. Online says 8am, but you should start lining up anytime around 7am. That way you'll be in the first batch of people seen that day and avoid huge wait times. E.g. Today (Wed-11-July-2018) I lined up at 7:15am and was about 10th in the queue. The first person in line went in to see the doctor around 8:15am, and I was called around 8:50am. Those who ARRIVED at the clinic at 8:00am were told it's a 2+ hour wait. I was finished by around 9:30am - very happy with the service.
I would love to have reviewed your services, but after attempts to call in, leaving voice messages and my doctors office requesting for you to contact me, I never got a hold of anyone. The voicemail message says you'd call back within one business day and even when I was the only caller in the phone queue, nobody picked up. I'll be going to one of your competitors
The guy who saw me was extremely curt and told me to use steroid cream and take 2 baths a day with expensive products, which I've used for 5 months and am still not better as he overlooked my infection. $600 in products later, my skin is still painful and bruised. His advice: go see an infectious disease specialist. Thanks for nothing but wasting my time and money.
Waited 2 hrs to only be seen for 2 mins by Dr. Singh. Don’t recommend this place at all unless it’s an absolute emergency.
I ended up waiting just over 2.5 hours to see Dr.Singh.... and I was with him for 5-10 minutes. Thankfully, he’s very respectful and polite and set me up with a treatment and I have a follow-up appointment, I just wish I had more time to have him answer questions and give me more information because I’m still slightly uncomfortable with how fast the appointment was. If you’re coming in as a walk-in be prepared to be sitting for a long period of time in a room full of people.
Got a referral for the RAC. Dr. Singh was quick and professional. Showed up at 715am, with about 10 people ahead of me in line. Registered at 7:45 and was seen at 8:30am. One of the most efficient walk in clinics I've ever been to. Note that you need a referral form the walk-in.
Arrived at 7:46am for the RAC and was out of there around 10:30. It’s absolutely worth it. I saw Dr Kim for a skin issue and the dude prescribed me a miracle drug that fixed it in 2 days. Very thankful for this clinic otherwise I would’ve had to wait many months for another derm.
Revised to point out that once I could see the doctor, they were in fact very impressive, as described in many other reviews. --- DO NOT WALK IN. Just don't. Make an appointment. (I wish I had known that earlier). I went in in the morning, and after *4 hours* I still hadn't been seen. Their furniture is so horrifically bad that I had to leave because both my legs had gone numb and my back was in excruciating pain, and I was starving cause I was afraid to leave for food in case my name was called. I thought I could tough it out but I ultimately had to give up. The receptionist was sympathetic but these people shouldn't be doing walk-ins at all.
I had a poor experience at AvantDerm. The front staff was friendly and accommodating. But the doctor, I think his name is Ben Kim, checked my problem for a few seconds and did not give any helpful suggestions. I was suggesting myself and asking questions. I noticed that he just wanted to get rid of me as quickly as possible and was not willing to provide a helpful consultation. Try a different clinic.
I’ve been a patient with Avant Derm for over a year now. It has been the best experience I’ve ever had at the dermatologist. I am so grateful to Dr. Singh and his wonderful admin and medical staff. Thank you for your kindness!
The doctors are good but the waiting time it’s at least 3.5 hours or more believe or not. Bring ur movies collections, Netflix, games and food. A tent for camping wouldn’t be a bad idea ;)
Wouldn't recommend no one to waste your time there. After I spent 3 hours waiting, -which I expected being a walk in- Dr. R. Ahluwalia, literately spent less than 2 minutes with me, didn't check my skin concern (which was quite serious, not aesthetic) and didn't even have a look at my blood results I had with me. She looked at her screen for the whole 2 minutes of my consultation, then prescribed me something without all the information and my pharmacy had to call them back like 4 times to get the strength of the solution she prescribed. She was also con-descent and brutal with my concern. I wouldn't recommend anyone to see her. Don't deserve even 1 star.
If you go early enough, you won't have to wait very long. I went for 730am and was out by 9am. It's the only clinic in TO that is walk-in so it's understandable that the lines will be big, The doctor herself was sincere and helpful. Got what I needed.
Can’t say enough good things about this clinic. I was planning on coming from out of town for the rapid access clinic and when I called to ensure they received my referral, they offered to book me an appointment instead of me having to line up (which would have meant me driving down at 2am). Dr.Singh was kind, clear and knowledgeable. He set up the next steps for me to investigate my condition with a colleague of his.
Given that I can take 2 or more months to get a dermatologist appointment this service is a great improvement. The clinic and Dr Singh are effective, service was polite.
I was referred by my doctor. I called them for appointment, they asked me to email my referral and they will call me back. Its been a week now, have not received any email or call. Thinking of picking some other place.
Dr. Singh is knowledgeable and professional and I would recommend this clinic to everyone.
I had a very good experience with the Rapid Access Clinic and am grateful for this service at AvantDerm because I've been waiting two months to see a dermatologist. The staff at the front desk are friendly and Dr. Singh addressed my concerns and provided efficient care. David (I believe that's his name) who prepped me for my lesion removal was kind and professional. I would definitely recommend. I arrived at 7:15am and waited two hours, but I would do it all over again. Get there as early as possible (6:30am).
Just visited this dermatology and I thought it was good. The wait time is normally around 3 hours, which is not too bad when you consider dermatologist referrals normally take 4+ months. Try to come as early as possible so you can get a minimal wait time. Dr. Singh seems very knowledgeable with what he prescribes and he's a nice guy. Highly recommend this place if your referral times are long.
My 6 yrs old child was referred by a physician to this place and my expectation was high, but unfortunately no result at the end. After waiting more than an hour She was seen by Dr. Davindra Singh who was a nice person, but it was just a 5 minute visit. Without doing any checkup the doctor said it's a virus that will last within 3-6 weeks and prescribed a cream, but after 2 weeks the rush spread to other parts of her body and got worst instead of getting better. After all, 2 months has passed and there's no improvement and we are disappointed.
So impressed. A lot of reviews about the long wait, but there is a much longer wait for a derm referral. Keep in mind that this is a walk in option for URGENT issues and concerns. If you have a less pressing skin issue, grab a referral and wait weeks for another dermatology clinic. Note: AdvantDerm also does aesthic dematology too but my review is strictly for the walk in clinic. I went at 6:20am and was the first in line. Next person. Arrived about 20mins later. By the time they opened the doors at 730am, there was a long line of people. Fast registration. At 803am I saw Dr. Singh who was professional and informative. He put my mind at ease and laid out my options. Had a procedure done to remove a lesion and was out the door by 850am. I have spend more time doing annual bloodwork than this. To have a clinic that can see you the next day after a doctor's referral to address URGENT concerns is top notch IMO. We need more of such places. Thank you, AvantDerm and Dr. Singh! I will recommend you and your services to anyone I speak to who has a skin concern.
The hours on their website say they are open from 8am-11am, and that they take patients up to 11am, but you won't get in if you plan to arrive anytime between these times. They say on their website that people start lining up earlier, but they do not mention specifics. I strongly recommend that you arrive there no later than 7:15AM if you want to guarantee that a dermatologist will see you that day. I needed to see a dermatologist for bad dandruff that I've had for years. I arrived a little after 7AM, and there was already a long lineup. It kept getting longer. That day, they were only taking 35 patients. I was fortunate enough to be seen that day, and I read from reviews that people start lining up as early as 6AM. I was one of the last people seen, so keep that in mind, that even though I arrived early, if I arrived any later, I probably would have wasted my time waiting. They open the doors at 7:30AM and start registering people in batches. The receptionists are very nice and it is a nice looking office. Once registered, they tell you what time you should come back, as the waiting room isn't the most spacious, and these are pandemic times. They told me to come back in an hour, so I decided to get breakfast in the distillery district, and luckily, there are plenty of shops open. I then received a call from the receptionists telling me to start making my way back. The doctor I saw was very professional and knowledgeable. Some reviews here keep speaking badly of the same doctor, but it seems they have a few doctors available. He checked my head, knew exactly what I had, and prescribed me shampoos and lotion. I was in and out in 10 mins. Including the time I started lining up, until I was done seeing the doctor, it was about 2 hours. It's a great convenience that you can see a dermatologist on the spot and do not need to wait for an appointment. However, if you cannot make it there before 7:15AM, do not bother going as you will most likely not be seen. Try again the next day, or call them to book an appointment. There were a lot of people that were not seen, and many took out their frustrations on the receptionists, but they handled the situations professionally. If you do end up lining up, and are unable to be seen that same they, the receptionists actually try to book you for their next available appointment, usually the following day, or following week, so it isn't a total loss.
Just went here. It is true. The Indian doctor is rude and unprofessional but the front desk people are well trained and organized. Especially the Indian doctor there makes me feel unsafe to talk to. We are still in pandemic for god sake. He doesn’t even change his gloves before examine me. He doesn’t care about your concerns and don’t listen. DO NOT COME HERE if you do have other options. WORST DOCTOR IN TOWN.
Had an appointment, no wait, doctor was really great but man, that receptionist was horrific. Unfriendly, dismissive and downright miserable..
I couldn’t access care at this clinic so my review is based on its business practices. I was referred here in August; my GP told me to get in touch with them in a month if I don’t hear from them. From trying to get in touch with them I can tell you that they do not reply to email. If you call and wait on hold the call will disconnect after one hold cycle. If you select the option to leave a voicemail the call disconnects. Here’s a screenshot of my attempt to get through to them today. You can’t see all the calls because there were 15 of them in 30 minutes so there isn’t enough space on the screen. This is the same whether you call in as a rapid access, medical, or cosmetic patient. No one should have their time disrespected like this, and it’s a shame this place is touting itself as a bastion of accessibility for patients who have difficulty accessing care.
Don't go here unless you want to be tricked into literally selling pieces of your body away as biopsies. For the whole review, read on... I went to a walk in doctor's clinic and told them that one of the moles on my chest was a little tender. Doctor said it was probably nothing, but referred me to AvantDerm. For the record, it was a tiny little mole, maybe 1/3 of a cm in diameter, black, round (like all my moles), and barely protruding from the skin. It had been there for as long as I could remember, but one morning it was sensitive, and that's why I had it checked out. When I got to AvantDerm, I initially tried to go to their "Rapid Access" walk in clinic. The building itself is very nice. There is lots of wood, concrete, and glass. If it were a furniture showroom or loft, I would be very impressed. I noticed right away that this clinic had advertisements everywhere for cosmetic dermatology. Laser treatments, chemical peels, and even "eyelash serums". Clearly, this was not a medical centre, just a business. There was no way I could be seen, as the waiting room was so packed. I wasted a morning going there for no reason. I then made an appointment for a couple weeks later. When I finally got around to seeing a doctor, she whisked into the room, and I barely even explained what my concerns were with my mole before she immediately tried to pressure me to have it removed. I asked her why, and she said that it sounded suspicious, and she thought the best course of action was to have a "tiny 4mm excision made so we can examine it in a lab". I had no clue what was going on, and I trusted her, being a doctor, so I reluctantly agreed. She then left immediately without taking the time to answer my concerns or ask me any questions. Probably to attend to one of the other patients they had in their overpacked waiting room. I was escorted into a back operating room where another woman (I'm not even sure if she was a nurse) laid me down, injected me with a numbing agent, and then took a round, pen-like tool to my chest. The end of this object was a circular blade about the size of a pencil eraser. She pushed this into my chest about a centimetre deep, and then removed a hunk of my chest with the mole in it. I was left with a gaping, bleeding, hole which she stitched up. I left, quite disturbed that the "little sample" the doctor told me about was really a huge gouge out of my flesh. Flash forward a few weeks later, and I came back in to see the original doctor. (I can't remember her name). Immediately, she told me that the mole they removed was "unusual and irregular". She would have had me leave at that point, thinking that AvantDerm did me some sort of favor by removing a cubic centimetre of my body. Only after my continued, specific questioning did she explain that the mole was actually harmless, wasn't a cancer, and would never be a cancer. After all, all moles are by definition "irregular skin cells". She then tried to tell me that I should come back in future and have my other moles removed! I think it's ridiculous that this clinic jumped the gun on a a mole excision, and then had the nerve to try and get me to agree to sell more pieces of my body so they can make money. This clinic clearly takes advantage of their patients' inexperience and unawareness. The doctors try to scare you and pressure you into having biopsies left, right and centre. No doubt they are paid for each biopsy, which is why they try to sell it so hard, and why their waiting room is so busy. I've never seen another dermatologist that's been walk-in, no referral needed. It's clearly a scheme to get more unsuspecting victims. All I got out of the whole experience was a lot of frustration, a missing piece of my chest, and a large scar for life that will remind me of how I was scammed by this for-profit, private dermatologist. If I didn't take a stand and thoroughly question the "doctor", I would no doubt be tricked into coming back in several more times to have my other tiny, harmless moles cut out and sent off for AvantDerm's profit. Disgusting.
Doors open at 7.30am but by 7am there is already a huge line up, so I'd rather book an appointment to not have to wait here without knowing when I'll get seen. Another suggestion for them is to announce the names twice at least or give us unique numbers, there are so many people and not always easy to hear. On the upside, it is probably nice for people to get seen on the same day.
I have been visiting the clinic regularly now for UVB light therapy due to my guttate psoriasis, which is a free service provided at the clinic. I am always greeted by Nicky & David that schedule the light therapy, and they are always very polite & very helpful. Same goes for Dr.Singh.
This was several years ago, but based on the reviews, I see things haven’t changed. I was referred by my family doctor for adult on-set cystic acne. Dr. Singh took a full medical history and sent me on my way with a topical prescription. It didn’t do anything so his next line of treatment was accutane. My pharmacist refused to fill it. Why? I have an extensive history of cardiac and mental health issues, both of which are highly contraindicated for accutane. He also prescribe 8x the normal starting dose. Dr. Singh fully told me that he didn’t believe the studies that suggested increased episodes of suicidal compulsion and ideation in people who used this medication. He also showed up to the office with THE FLU, admitted it, wouldn’t answer questions about another skin issue as “it’s not why I was referred”, and pushed his own products on me. Yes, the place is beautiful but he’s rude and dangerous. My pharmacist recommended I try birth control as cystic acne is related to hormones. Guess what? It zapped it. Don’t go here.
Staff was nice and so was the office. Waited about 4 hours which is totally understandable because of it being the only RAC I know of. Now the only thing that bothered me was when I received my prescription of course a topical cream like I don’t own a million as every doctor just keeps resorting to cream. I asked if it was covered( cause I currently don’t own private insurance ) and was told that if it wasn’t it would be cheap.... well 125 bucks for a little tube of cream is not what I consider cheap. When I went to the pharmacy they told me that certain prices have changed in Canada for compound pharmacy’s to which I was not aware and think that a dermatologist should know about things like that when giving a prescription to his or her patient and stating that it’s cheap
Glanced at my baby for less than a minute and decided he had eczema. Gave him a toxic adult strength prescription even though baby does not have any symptoms of eczema. Whatever his strange bumps are, I will now have to wait for a second opinion before I can find out what it actually is or start to get it treated. Disappointing conveyer belt facility just there to collect the cash. $$$$$$$$$$ is what they care about. Update: IT WASN'T ECZEMA, YOU QUACKS.
From the moment doctor (which I won't name) entered the room until the moment he quickly left, you could tell is main goal was to get over with the appointment ASAP...Doesn't give a good impression at all, I understand time is money but real G's don't move like that.
Terrible place in timing even with booked appointments. Expect to wait 30 to 45 minutes late than your time!
Dr. Singh was great. He was patient in explaining my ailment and the options available to me, and the consultation and follow-up treatment were delivered very professionally. I'm going to assume that some of the negative reviews are due to him having an evil twin who briefly took his place... I found him very professional, pleasant and relaxed. As for the Rapid Access clinic, get there early. I was there before 7 a.m., waited about 45 minutes to register and another 45 minutes walking around the Distillery District before I was seen. It was a very cold winter's day so the typical wait time might be longer. Still beats waiting months for an appointment.
I waited over an hour and a half and the doctor literally didn't even LOOK at me and just decided it must be stress because I'm female. Truly insulting.
I've been here twice! I got misdiagnosed by a different dermatologist and thought my condition would never improve. Dr Singh not only remembered me from a previous visit from over 5 years ago, but he was diligent, properly diagnosed me and prescribed the right products. My condition improved 100% within a month. Also, the staff are incredible!
Receptionist went out of her way to help me when my doctor hadn't faxed the referral over. Such pleasant and helpful people here. The dermatologist handled my issue and I was totally taken care of. I would ignore the 1 star reviews here, it's just because people are upset at wait times. The trick is to get here at 630am and you're golden. (By the way don't be like me.... ask your doc for a hard copy of your referral just incase they don't fax it in time. But still thanks Avant Derm for all your help!)
I went to see Dr. Ahluwalia recently after hives' breakout. I had seen a few walk-in clinic doctors and my family doctor before I got referred to this clinic. It was bad luck that I had to see her. She looks at my hives (which were all over my body including hands, face, wrists, legs, stomach, etc.) for few seconds and says, "Something is in the air. Everyone is getting these hives. I don't know what it is. It is something viral". She writes me pills and cream. When I took the prescription to pharmacist, she asked me if I had shingles. I said that I was diagnosed for hives and showed the pharmacist my arms and hands. I told her that I already had shingles in 2011 and chickenpox when I was a kid. The pharmacist got angry and told me not to spend $60 on the pills which were for shingles. Every doctor, I met after, got confused why I was given shingles medication. Shingles usually are in one area only. Dr. Ahluwalia is not trained and is not reliable. Avoid her at all cost.
Great place. Arrived around 6:15 and was first in line. Waited until they opened and was first in with the doctor. Great customer service and I was out of there by 8:30 with a proper solution to my skin problems.
We were treated well by all staff and are very grateful for the great medical help we received. Thank You
I saw a doctor for what felt like 30 seconds and he did not seem to care. I was still asking questions as he was rushing out the door. Treating patients requires a certain level of care and comfort that i felt was lacking entirely. I don't know the doctor's name he did not introduce himself.
Wait time - Yes, I went to the clinic at 6.45am and my turn came around 9am but it was worth it for the first time. I've taken multiple follow-up visits in the next 4 months and it was very ease with my preferable appointment time and day. However, if you miss your appointment than you've to wait for over a month. Dr. King is really very good. He always listen to my concerns calmly and clear my skeptical queries. He is knowledgeable and straightforward. He cured my skin problem which matters to me at the end of the day, not the wait time. Even, I found reception staff to be very helpful.
I read all the negative reviews and braced myself but was very pleasantly surprised! Yes there was a 2 hour wait (I got there at 7:30am) but the reception staff were polite and the Doctor (Dr. Singh) was very personable, patient, and helpful. I assume the negative reviews were heard by the management and improvements were made.
PRO: Went at 6:45 and there was already a huge line. I had a referral from the hospital and was seen right away. Got two biopsies done. The nurse, Sarah, was comforting and kind and did the procedure well. I saw Dr Singh who was professional, and knew well what he was doing. Got my results back in two weeks and stitches off no problem. CON: Only complaint was with the lady behind the desk who promised to forward my results to my family doctor and it’s been over a week and it’s still not done. They also never return my phone calls or answer the phone.
My mother, a senior, went to this clinic yesterday. She was satisfied with the doctor who treated her. The reason I am giving this clinic a one-star review is that when it was time to leave, the receptionist gave her a bag containing 3 bottles of something and told my mom "You'll need this too." My mom, who is a trusting soul, thought that what she was handed was part of her treatment and bought it without question, since she had just been told that she needed it, at a cost of $60. The bottles turned out to be nothing more than moisturizer, and of course she did not need it as part of her treatment. This clinic is intentionally scamming patients in order to make money. They should be especially ashamed for scamming an elderly woman who is a trusting person. For shame.
Had a really good experience at their Rapid Access Clinic. Arrived at 7.40, had 10 people in front of me and was seen at around 9.10. Yes, you might have to wait for what might be a couple of hours but I don't think you can really complain about that giving that with a regular dermatologist you'd have to wait a few months for your appointment. The interior of the clinic is very aesthetically pleasing with a lot of seats in the waiting area to accommodate everyone since it's a pretty busy place. The receptionists were really nice and started registering patients even before the clinic officially opened. I got to see doctor Wu and she was one of the most likable doctors I've ever visited. Even though it was during walk in hours I didn't feel like the appointment was rushed at all. She took time to ask questions about my condition, explain the course of treatment she was prescribing, and answer my questions. Will be back again! Updated: had an appointment for 8.15am and was seen exactly at that time with no waiting at all even though they were taking walk ins at the same time.
Didn't tell me about the consult fee ahead of time. One doctor was nice, but another really doesn't seem like she care about people and just wants to end early.
ATTITUDE at the front desk.
I showed up with my referral at 6:07 am and was 4th in line. I got in to the dr office at 8:09am. The first person in line drove in from Kingston at 2:00am. The woman behind me was given a year waiting time to see another dermatologist. There was a huge line behind me, especially by 7:00am. The service itself is excellent and I am grateful to have the opportunity to see a dermatologist same day. To those who want to complain about wait times, write your politicians about how we need more dermatologists and walk in dermatology services. It’s outrageous we have to wait 4 months to a year to get a dermatology appointment! Don’t take out frustrations on AvantDerm or their staff - they are trying to be a part of the solution with the rapid access service! Their service is totally busy and overwhelmed. These dermatologists are not getting paid more for doing this service - I asked! If you hate waiting several hours or your condition isn’t desperate - book an appointment!
Dr Singh is the Best Dermatologist in GTA.
My sister and I visited together, from out-of-town, each with a different dermatology issue. We were totally impressed with both the efficiency of the AvantDerm operation, and with the kind and efficient treatment that we received from the front office staff, the doctor and the nurse. Both of us have been to walk in clinics before and they tend to be impersonal, revolving door places providing slap-dash stop-gap treatment, and often poorly-organized as well. What we got at AvantDerm was kind, personal, well-organized, quality treatment, despite the obviously large volume of the practice. And if you are interested in interior design or architecture, feast your eyes here while you wait (which you will)! Our wait wasn't terribly long because we arrived early. The pace of consultation and (in our case, the on-the-spot -- excuse the expression -- biopsies) was quick and efficient. This is not the time or place to have deep philosophical discussions about metaphysical dermatology, but when we left, we both felt that the doctor clearly knew what he was doing, and that he had spent an appropriate amount of time and attention to our issues. We came, we got the job done. Contrast this with the months of waiting that we would have had for a referral to a dermatologist closer to home. For us, going to AvantDerm was well worth the travel and trouble of getting there. Highly recommended.
The wait time is just crazy. Expect 2 hours on average and if they start to cycle in the regulars in between, might get even stretched. Had okay experience with the receptionist and the doctor but reading all the other comments, I think I can see where they are coming from. Otherwise it was nicely decorated, specious waiting area and very clean. Meeting time with the doctor was very short. She asked me if I have coverage and once confirmed, she gave me a very expensive med which did cost me quite a lot out of pocket, but may be it was for a good reason, hard to tell.
Arrived to a Rapid Access Clinic outside doors on a Thursday 6:25am, 8 people standing outside waiting. Outside temperature 3degrees Celsius. By 6:45am there’s 12 people. By 7am 20 people. 7:10am 30 people. By 7:30am about 40-50 people, all lined up outside before sunrise, including parents with children. Doors opened at 7:35am, people are let in for intake at reception. Only a limited number of the people who lined up early see a doctor, the large rest told sorry (their limit is 20-30 people). By 8:05am there’s about 50+ people. Saw doctor at 8:10am. Left by 8:15am.
In my experience, I would not recommend this clinic. My doctor referred me here twice because they claim to "specialize in ethnic hair", and I was experiencing extreme hair loss. Both times I went in, both doctors disregarded my issues and rushed me out instantly, with no real course of treatment. In the 1.5 years between, my hair got worse. They kept suggesting I had traction alopecia, but I have not worn extensions in several years. They have not helped me at all, and showed no concern. I would not go back, or recommend this clinic to anyone unless you are in dire need. If that is the case, do not expect your appointment to last more than 5 mins.
Was treated totally disrespectfully. Doctor was condescending.
First off, upon arrival, the receptionist was very rude. Secondly, the doctor was quick to judge about my situation without hearing my story and what happened. Afterwards, when trying to ask the doctor about another part of the body that was concerning, he quickly disregarded it and placed me in another room. Lastly, my overall experience of this place was terrible. The only positive experience I had at this place was the man who called my name to go into a room and the lady who stitched me up. They were friendly and very attentive to my needs. (My husband's experience.)
I didn't know what to expect when I got there, usually when I go to walk ins there's not many people waiting. I was surprised to see the long line up when I arrived .. it was about 7:40am & about 30 people once the clinic opened. It was frustrating to wait almost 2 hours to see a doctor. It was a chilly morning and the receptionist had the air conditioning on blast which was extremely irritating. But the doctor was very nice and knowledgeable. He diagnosed me immediately and sent me on my way. It was quite a shame that he was the only doctor handling patients. I really wish this clinic wasn't walk in & didn't have to wait almost 2 hours to see the doctor for 5 minutes just to get a prescription. But it's a great clinic just beware of wait times.
These people and this Clinic are absolutely Disgusting! WARNING! DO NOT GO HERE. They are incapable of anything. They book a number of people and then make money from being the only walk-in dermatology clinic in Toronto. Wait time is horrendous. The Girl at the front Silvi is an outright liar. I confirmed with my doctor that I had a referral. She lied and said they didnt have it. She just brushed me off cause they had over booked. I saw my doctor call and confirm this with their offices. - Pretty Crummy! They assured me over the phone as long as I got there before 11am they would take me. I got there at 1030 and they sent me away. DO NOT GO HERE ! They are only after the quick buck and not to help people with real issues. It act more like a hair salon for members only than a real professional dermatology clinic. Go to a real professional, they have poor ratings see for yourself!!!!
Avant Derm is a great place if you arrive bright and early. I was refereed to Avant Derm because my other dermatologist was going on maternity leave and could not see me ASAP. *You'll need a referral to be seen by a Dermatologist here*. So I decided to trek it out on a Monday morning to Avant Derm. Apparently Mondays are less busy than Fridays. I arrived at 5:50am but waited out in the car because it was damn cold. Summer will probably be better but might not help with the earlier queues. There is paid parking right in front for $3 per hour starting at 8am so its not bad at all because the visits are short if you arrive early. After 6:45AM a dozen of people started to join the line. By 7:30 AM the doors opened and we all were let in to register. By 8AM the first 3 (including me) were all put in rooms to be seen. My appointment took 10 mins and was out the door by 8:20AM. Early bird gets the worm. Overheard some lady who arrived at 8 AM and the wait time was ~2hrs. The drop in hours is only from 8AM to 11AM so do yourself a favour and go early if you're doing the walk in service. Appointment is a different story. The interior is nice as you wait, but gets really crowded. I hope you have a speedy recovery on whatever skin condition you may be battling.
Dr. W.B. Kim is wonderful, professional and welcoming. I was so embarrassed about the rash on my foot and he reminded me I was taking care of myself today, nothing else matters. Dr. W.B.Kim at AvantDerm made me feel empowered and reminded me what matters most, taking care of the skin I live in!
I was so glad to get in, the team was very professional and I felt at ease. I couldnt get to derm near me for months, but easily and quickly got an appointment at Avant Derm , 3hrs away. Got biopsies at this appointment.; which really helped with diagnosis. Also loved the atmosphere and great interior design.
I went in (with an appointment) to get rid of 2 discoloration patches on my nose (these dry ice removals are not covered by OHIP) and Dr. Singh noticed a small bump on my nose. Based on his professional judgement we agreed to remove it then and there - very small tissue removal. Naturally, the biopsy was sent to the lab for analysis and came back as a basal cell skin cancer. So, good to spot it and good to remove it. The surgery was covered by OHIP. Dr. Singh suggest some very expensive sunblock through AvantDerm at the prevailing (high) market price - I'm not sure I support an MD selling medications - it does open the door to a potential conflict of interest.
I've had a skin condition for years that my family doctor has not been able to give me any solid information on within minutes of visiting the doctor diagnose my condition right away. I finally have a name for what I have and a course of treatment. I suggest getting a referral to the clinic and go very early there is a line that starts even before they open. Doctor was great as well answered all questions.
I have been calling the number on the website for 4 weeks now and no one has pick or has given me a call back. It’s just frustrating that they have a phone number but then no one is answering. Please if you see this can you listen to your voicemail and give me a call back please and thank you
I had the worst experience going to the doctor in this place. "Dr." Davindra Singh. He is rude, unprofessional and treats patients in a horrible way. I went to this place yesterday, after 3 hrs wait this guy sees me for 5 min been extremely rude, he just wanted to be done. When ask him about why he wouldn't even give a proper look to my skin, he said "what do you want me to do to put my light on? He did it for 1 second and put it away and keep on the same diagnosis that I already knew from my family doctor. I clearly requested a non-burning cream as he claimed you have to tolerate it, it's gonna burn. So why I'm in "the best dermatologist clinic" ??? They are NOT! After all that I left the clinic feeling even worse he made me upset when mistreated me!!. Went there today to ask for a reimbursement since I pay cash, and I didn't want to drink antibiotics for 2 months or want to tolerate burning my face! they didn't gave me anything just waist my time, this guy is so unprofessional that he didn't even offer to change my treatment or speak with me just sent the receptionist. This place is all about the money!!! I DONT RECOMMEND IT!!
Was hesitant before coming due to some of the other reviews on here but was pleasantly surprised. I showed up at 7:30am and was registered by 8am and told to come back in 30 minutes. By 9am I had seen Dr.Singh and had a small procedure done and was on my way. Dr. Singh was very professional, explained the process and was very kind. Would highly recommend.
I was hesitant on coming here based on the reviews. However, my visit was nothing less than phenomenal. The front desk staff were extremely nice, and the flow of operations was professional and efficient. Please remember that this is one of the only clinics in the GTA that offer walk-in dermatology appointments. This alone is worth the wait. My doctor, Tiffany Chen, was patient, thorough and kind. She prompted me to ask all my questions and stayed to answer them. All in all, a great experience.
Terrible at email follow ups. If you need to book an appointment I suggest calling in, although you may be on hold upwards of 10 minutes, at least you're guaranteed to be serviced. The first time I tried to book an appointment I sent three emails that went unanswered and had to call in to finally book. Now trying to book my second appointment, 2 emails still unanswered. Understaffed or lazy?
I was referred to rapid Access by my GP. My doctor had warned me about the line ups starting at 7 am so I braced myself accordingly. Unlike other people, it was a smooth ride for me. I reached the clinic around 7:40 and I was 10th in the line. The doors open at 8am and I was seen around 8:40am. The front desk was very efficient and friendly. I saw Dr. Prabhakar; he is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He took time to hear my concerns and treated my symptoms. I returned back for a follow up after 7 weeks and made an appointment. I was seen write at 8am without wait times and didnt have to take time off form work! Great accessibility and patient care!
Not sure how Doctor Singh is but my experience was with Doctor king . I wish a 0 star was available . I waited three hours which is not an issue since I was prepared for this. I told him about my condition and he refused to check my skin by stating that it won't be accurate (but I guess not looking is ?!?!). He prescribed a cream I told him I break out with -- and I stated if he's not sure about my condition he should not be prescribing me something so toxic. Then I asked if it could be eczema (due to my own research and knowledge on skin conditions) and he said maybe?. He had absolutely no knowledge , refused to actually examine me, and just wanted to give me whatever he could to attend to his other instant cash grab.. Woops.. I mean "patient". That is negligence and I have made sure to report this doctor to make sure his practice is investigated. Although my experience was completely useless (and made me lose hope within the field of dermatology even further), I hope my report will impact how seriously they take future patients . Word of advice .. I know it's super convenient , but also send your referral to another dermatologist who actually has a good rating . It seems to be getting harder and harder to find good health care service and sometimes you gotta be your own advocate . Natural remedies work wonders on skin conditions and I will go back to just that
The best dermatologist in Toronto if you go 1 hour before your appointment you will be okay I am looking forward to go for cosmetic soon.
I had a great experience at AvantDerm. My doctor warned me there would be a wait and suggested I show up at 7:30. I didn't end up getting there until around 7:50 and there were probably around 50 people waiting. I filled out the form and the receptionist informed me it would be at least a two and a half hour wait. I went a did some shopping, had breakfast, hung out in Nathan Phillips square for a bit (it was a beautiful morning) and showed up back at AvantDerm about ten minutes before they called me in (It could be a little risky to leave and come back but it worked for me!). Dr. Singh immediately diagnosed my issue and was able to remove it for me immediately and it was all covered under OHIP. I understand everyone has a different experience but to those complaining about the wait times you can either wait a couple hours and be seen immediately or wait a couple of months until your condition worsens, I would always choose the former. Thanks AvantDerm!
My experience with this clinic wasn’t good at all. I went to the rapid clinic first which I thought was great. Though you have to get in super early at least it’s an option to see a dermatologist fast in the city. I arrived 45min before opening and was see around 8am. I also had a follow up appointment booked as I had to do a biopsy to confirm diagnostic. Both of the appointment took under 2 minutes. It’s outrageous that the doctor won’t take more than 2 minutes to talk more about the diagnostic and treatment option. He goes ahead with printing off the prescription without giving you a chance to ask any question. I asked a question while he was literally already on his way out. There aren’t many options for derm in the city but I’ll def make sure I don’t come here again, hopefully.
Exceptional Service ! The staff are very friendly and very helpful. I was seen the next day after I got my doctor's referral and biopsy done as well. All other dermatology offices are 1 - 2 years wait. A big thanks to AvantDerm and all their staff that make this possible! THANKS!
I had concern about a growth on my back. This clinic saw me, removed the growth, tested, found cancer, booked a second surgery at Sunnybrook all in less time than another clinic could even find time to see me. So all you people complaining about waiting in line need, to get your priorities straight. People are waiting in line because they allow walk-ins and because it is a quality practice that a lot of people go to.
Had a great experience here today! Arrived just before 7:30am, there was a bit of a line but it moved fairly quickly. After checking reviews I was a bit nervous but we saw Dr.Singh and he was wonderful. He answered all my questions, took the time to explain everything to me, and make sure I had all the information I needed. Front desk staff was also very nice. All in all it was a great experience, I definitely recommend!
I believe the management of patients from this clinic is poor. I have a skin problem and have been using a cream that they prescribed for years. I am in a situation where I ran out and I need a refill. They said the doctor is not willing to do it because I haven't seen them in 4 years, yet this is a skin issue that is not curable and they did refill it in Dec 2019. If they needed me to come back for assessment they should have asked me to come then, yet now i am left to go back to my family doctor and get a prescription or recommendation from them. This is ok to do but their management of their clients in my opinion is poor and badly managed since this should have been advised back in 2019 so I would be knowledgeable of their process and not left in this position.
I travelled here from Belleville after being referred by a doctor at a local hospital. I was there at 7:40AM & they were already taking patients. Everything was organized & ran smoothly. The front desk staff, Dr.Tran & the nurse were awesome. I was out the door & driving home by 9AM. If the alternative is having to wait months for a dermatologist, I would definitely come here.
The reviews gave me so much anxiety before going in when the appointment wasn’t even bad. I think people forget that these are medical professionals that have seen 30 patients a day for how many years. Most of the time they know what’s wrong before they even look at you. The appointment was fast, to the point, and Dr. Singh even printed out a sheet with my condition and additional info which was helpful. I recommend writing out questions on your phone before the appointment because if it’s quick you won’t forget anything. The lead receptionist was super helpful when my MD failed to fax my information properly. I was also 40 minutes early for my appointment and they saw me in 5 minutes. overall, great experience and recommend.
Amazing clinic. I was hesitant about coming here after reading all the negative reviews but I did not see any of it. Amazing friendly people at reception and the doctor seems very knowledgeable. Wait time was very insignificant also, was in and out within an hour, arrived at 7:20am. Thank you!
Do not “walk in”, unless it’s an emergency, or you have up to 3 hours to wait to be seen. On top of that, they ask you to wait outside of the clinic in the cold, due to pandemic reason. No one will mention you on the phone that the wait may take that much time. Reception is very disorganized.
The receptionist was very friendly. Didn’t have to wait very long to see the doctor. Dr. Davindra Singh seem irritated when I was asking questions about the medication he suggested I should go on. He didn’t even look at my face or ask questions to find out what maybe causing the acne outbreak. It was a waste of my time. I thought he would go into details about what the medication is, how it works, and side effects. Nothing!!!! I have decided cancel my future appointment and not bothered with that place.
Plan to be there for at least 3 hours. Took me 3 hours and 10 minutes from when I arrived to when I walked out (8am to 11:10am). I arrived at 8am exactly (when they open) on a Tuesday. There was already a huge line before the doors where even opened like people were waiting for cronuts or something! They took people in quite efficiently, I was registered with half hour maybe. I was finally seen at about 11am and the doctor came shortly after I was put in a room. He seemed very knowledgeable (as he should be considering how many people I’m sure he sees in a day!) I was out of there by 11:10am. It’s a very busy clinic, but that is the Canadian medical system for you. If you’re willing to wait you can see a dermatologist same day instead of waiting 1-3 months for an appointment. They didn’t ask if I had a referral, though I did have it sent over from my walk in clinic (not sure if you need one or not). Turns my lip irritation was eczema which I’ve never had 5 months ago, until just on my lips. Doctor wrote me a $85 steroid-free topical cream prescription (I don’t have a drug plan, prescriptions like this are often $50-$85 for I wasn’t surprised). Will follow up on how it works for me!
Love the brick interior. Staff are warm and welcoming. Wait time is a little much. The seating is great, if you can get a seat. I found that both visits people brought their entire family with them. I'm talking at least 5 people for one person's visit (and not just a parent with kids, i am talking like 2 parents, grandparents, cousins etc) which makes it hard for people to find a seat for themselves. overall, wonderful place.
The title for this place is ‘Advancing Dermatology’ If they were being honest it would include ‘with prehistoric customer service’ After being given a referral form from my doctor which says the rapid access clinic is available from 8am to 11:00am by walk-in only, I took time off from work to see a dermatologist as early as possible, the weather today is -20 degrees with an extreme cold weather alert. When I arrived at 8:12am it was packed with signs saying walk ins are no longer being accepted. I asked the receptionist about it and she indicated that line ups form at 7am with the doors opening at 7:30am. I asked if they were better days to visit with lower volumes and her response was all days are like this. I also asked if I can make an appointment and her response was that they’re 2 months out at least. It was clear she didn’t care. I’ve left and made an appointment with a different clinic a week from now because playing a game of luck doesn’t make any sense to receive health care. This is no different than third world standards. Your best chance of seeing someone could be lining up during extreme weather conditions. In my case it was -20 degree weather and even then there wouldn’t have been a guarantee of seeing anybody.
Well I was 6th in line, which was amazing, and reception was great. I mean I did take the morning off from work and waited in the cold so I was hoping to get there early. Altogether 2 hrs from lining up at 7am, being registered at 7:45am and then seen at 8:30am and out by 8:58am. So.... I am having some type of issue along my hair line and face. Which is very uncomfortable, good thing I saw the doctor in a timely manner. When I left the clinic and arrived at my pharmacy, where I have been going for 4+ yrs, they told me they cant fill the prescription because its in someone else's name!? Im already mad because these are costly prescriptions and now instead of me dropping it off at the pharmacy and picking them up in the evening, I have to wait. SMH I spoke to the receptionist at AVANTDERM and she told me I would have to wait until the afternoon when the doctor has time to redo it and send it to my pharmacy for me. Either way I won't have it today. **UPDATE** I received a call saying it has been sent to my pharmacy, 7pm ????????
Receptionist is very rude. Spoke to her this morning and I was shocked by the reply I got. And this was not the first time. I understand the volumes of calls are high, but it does not mean you have to be irritated by speaking to clients...
I visited this place, The doctor was very good and friendly. The whole team in the clinic is very expert in their work. Only problem I'm facing is, it is very hard to contact with them by phone. I wanted to book an appointment but I don't know how to contact with them. I called several times but no one pick up. Otherwise everything else was amazing.
Dr.Singh is the worst doctor I've ever met. I have high regard for Indian doctors, they're really good. Dr.Singh is unidimensional in his assessment, offers no solution and is highly incompetent. I don't know why these doctors act as if they're doing a favour. Is it because of OHIP? I can afford private care, just ask for more money. But, provide accurate diagnosis and clear the doubts of the patient.
We went with my wife to this clinic on the last week, unfortunately the Doctor D.S. was extremely rude with her, he made her wait for about 20 mins, when he arrived he saw her really fast, he did not explain properly the cause of her skin problems, and he prescribed meds without explaining her how to use them. At the end because of his poor customer service we had to address our questions with the girl at the front desk.
i had no problem with the wait. it is to be expected considering the rapid access, it allowed me time to catch up on my reading and current netflix obsession. my only problems were with the segregation between walk-in and scheduled appointment waiting rooms and the attention i received from the doctor. walk-in patients are expected to sit on uncomfortable aesthetically pleasing hip transparent chairs while people with appointments are granted large lush rustic leather seating. maybe it is not the clinic’s intention but the way the clinic is set up (wait line, general layout, front desk) makes the segregation natural. i suspected i got a specific skin issue whilst travelling and went to this clinic to verify my problem. i have had keratosis pilaris as well as mild eczema throughout my life and am pretty well versed on general skincare. when i saw the doctor he was in quite a rush (to be expected considering the amount of people) but he was pretty flippant with my skin problem. he told me it was keratosis pilaris and prescribed me cerave and told me about salicylic acid like they were foreign products and prescribed me a topical steroid. he didn’t inform me about the potential harm of topical steroids, any side effects, or how to use them and i had to actually ask if it was a steroid he was prescribing me. i also had to bring forth my own concerns and my own personal self diagnosis from my general understanding of skincare. overall it was an OK experience. the clinic is very aesthetically pleasing and the atmosphere is calming considering the amount of traffic they get BUT i would indulge anyone planning to visit to have an appointment referral and to do their own research on any skincare issues they may be having. also, the front desk staff are delightful.
The doctor is unprofessional . We waited for 3.30hrs and the final result is i can keep use the medication from my family doctor..... I mean if the medications that I am using now is working then I don’t have to come here
3-4 hour wait time. I've been at the emergency and it was quicker. Will never go back.
Absolutely horrible place. 3 hr wait time to see a doctor that is if you arrive at 8am with a referral note. Don’t waste your time. Make an appt with another Dermatologist and have respect for your time.
Really bad experience! I got a referral from my physician to go there between the hours of 8-12 am for rapid walk-ins as my Dermatologist wasn't doing in person treatment during Covid. I got there around 9 AM and there was a huge lineup outside already to register. After waiting for about 45 minutes, I was amongst the last people to be allowed in while all the others behind me were asked to leave and come back another day (This was around 9:45). After you get inside there is another wait to be registered, and then the receptionist rushes you through the registration process and refused to answer basic questions. I felt like we were chickens in an assembly line, there was no empathy or quality care whatsoever. They then asked me to wait off premises and said that they would call me when my turn comes, giving me a timeline if 3-4 hours. Fastforward 5 hours..I get seen by a physician and he refuses to administer injections because their policy prohibits patients from removing their mask for treatment. I was left baffled, I called my family physician and he also was also surprised why they would even accept patients. These people only want to make money off of referrals! I would ask for a different Derm referral.
It was a good experience overall, the wait time is expected on all walk in clinics, a lot less time then at a hospital . My wait time was 2 hours because it was busy, You can leave and come back , you do not have to stay, just be on time. receptionists were very helpful and polite with lots of instructions for a busy place. The doctor and his asst were very fast and competent in doing the biopsy. I have no complaints and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Dr. Wu was excellent.
I was treated well by both the reception staff and Dr S, who saw me on diagnosis and for followup. He was very professional and humourous both times, I’m unsure of what the negative reviews are about. He was able to correct a skin issue that was misdiagnosed and made worse by my GP and another specialist. I honestly think people expect way too much from the healthcare system, and considering they are a modern clinic with modern therapies, all covered by OHIP. In the US this would cost thousands just to be seen, even before the cost of drugs. Thanks guys!
A useless clinic.. I went there due to a hair condition.. waited around for hours.. finally saw the Dermatologist.. who prescribed silly tests (Cut parts of my scalp out for testing) and then told me it was due to genetic hair loss.. (Which it clearly wasn't) .. Prescribed some hair cream and then proceeded to write me a prescription for the wrong thing.. Sadly, we didn't find out until we got home that what he wrote a prescription for was something else entirely which wouldn't help me at all.. We tried calling AvantDerm to speak to the Dermatologist only to learn that he immediately went on a vacation.. This is a horrible clinic.. they do not care about people's feelings, make you wait ridiculous hours and are extremely unprofessional.
It’s first come first serve with a two month waiting time if you book an appointment. Go as soon as it opens! No complaints, nicest staff, made me feel comfortable.
They don't answer the phones between noon-1:30pm which is a bit of an inconvenience. I've been to this place a few times, referred by my doctor, and they're supposed to call me within 5 days and they never have. I always have to follow up. The dermatologist I saw there was super nice and she was very helpful, but contacting this place/getting an appointment plus the wait times when you have an appointment are pretty awful.
I arrived at 5:45 am and saw the doctor at 8:10 am. There were already 3 people in line when I arrived, but most started arriving after 6:20 am. Service is quick and professional.
I have no negative comments with the place itself, the receptionists were friendly and informative. However, I am extremely disappointed with the care given by Dr. Lansang, she literally repeats the same questions in all the 3 appointments I have had there. She provides little to no information of biopsy results, doesn't provide any information or ideas for pain management. She has shown very little sympathy towards painful skin issue. Basically you are just another patient in her long list of patients to see and wants to finish the consultation as soon as possible.
It’s 8:30 and you’ve stopped accepting walk-in patients. There’s a serious issue here.
My experience was really frustrating. I understand, given it's a walk in clinic essentially, that time is pressing and Doctors feel the need to get through every patient. But to wait two and a half hours to be seen for only 5 minutes, only to have the doctor ignore my concerns, not answer my questions, and prescribe me something I told him I reacted badly to is not what should've happened. I still don't know if I'm plagued with rosacea or eczema, since the doctor didn't tell me. Dr. King was kind, don't get me wrong, but he was rushing, didn't take my concerns seriously, and took very little time in trying to help. I'm not going back.
Not very helpful. Pretentious attitude at check in. Dr rushed and did not address complaints. Rx very expensive and told to disregard Pharmacy warning that prescribed drug has severe cancer risk. Would not recommend being seen here unless you have a cosmetic issue you would like addressed. Please note. This appointment was scheduled and not a "walk in"
Absolutely not recommended. They do not pick calls, no call back when you leave voice message, no reply to your emails. Wish there was 0 stars.
Horrible service, ZERO follow up on medical biopsy and results. Tried to phone countless times and the answering machine said the store was closed, even though it was absolutely open. Literally tried following up myself for a very serious skin condition that (the doctor said she had no idea what it was) and heard nothing back. The same rash has come back again. Don’t go here.
I have been recommended to this clinic for over three months now. I tried contacting them EVERY POSSIBLE way and they would just no get back. They have no respect for their patients. Absolutely unethical and unprofessional service. Do jot get this as a recommendation from your doctor because you will never get an appointment here.
I was seen by Dr.king. He is great! I had seen three different doctors before him and none of them could help me. But Dr.king cured me very quickly.
Disregard that google says people spend 30min to 1 hour here. I've been here for over 2 HOURS+ now and still haven't seen the dermatologist. Receptionists tell me people often wait longer. I am told this is not a busy morning. They are resistant to putting up a sign that informs clients about wait times. Why? Just put up a damn sign and let people make their own decision about staying, or returning the next morning with a sleeping bag to camp out in front of the door like we used to do for concert tickets. Not sure if the doc is any good but I feel like it hardly matters now. EDIT: just met with Dr. Singh - a very competent and skilled dermatologist. Satisfied with my diagnosis and treatment options. Star rating increased. Unfortunate that the walk-in experience is not more clearly explained at the outset, to mitigate waiting-room frustration.
We was referred by Western hospital, first of all the front desk is very rude and impatient. They said they don’t have our referral letter, we contacted western hospital. They said they faxed twice. But front desk still saying they didnt receive it. I ask them to call western hospital and confirm, they said they tried so many times and phone can’t get through. I called twice it and went though within 1 min. Apparently, they are not willing to help or provide any convenience for patient who has foot injured for more than 3 months. They even ask us to go to the hospital and pick up the referral letter and come back. So far the experience is terrible, I’m not sure If I still have the faith with the specialists in there.
Rude receptionist, blames patients if something goes wrong. The staff and clinic is not welcoming, snooty response and judge you by appearance. They make you feel out of place.
Liars. Worst ever. Will never come here again
This review will be on the Rapid Access Clinic. I visited today on a Friday of a long weekend. I showed up at 715a and there were four people ahead of me. A note: you wait outside! A member of the staff opened the doors at 740a (we were grateful as it was very cold) and very quickly and efficiently checked everyone in. The first patient was called in at exactly 8a and I was called in at 825a. I waited in the examination room for 4 mins. I saw Dr. Ahulwaila and she was great. Informative, helpful and didn't make me feel rushed. I was on my way in 8 mins or so. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend! It's also a beautiful office.
Absolutely insane wait times here, youll have to give up half a day of work to be seen here or wake up before the sun comes up. went to the walk-in at King & River and got an appt. With a dermatologist there in no time. Way more enjoyable.
Unfriendly staff. They also do not advertise accurate walk in times. Staff are not knowledgeable about provided treatments. Avoid this place if you can.
So you'll notice that this place gets a lot of bad reviews. Mostly because of the wait time. It does cause a great damper on the whole experience. However I am rating this place for the quality of the service by the doctors. They know their stuff and once you are in the room, the whole process goes very quickly. If you arrive before their opening time, you'll notice there is already a line forming outside. The secretary arrives around 7:30 to open the door. Everytime I came, I would arrive at around 6:45-7:00 and there would be about 1-3 people there if I am not first. I recommend getting there early cuz that way you'll just pop in and pop out before 9:30 for sure. You'll also notice that even if you may have been first in line, some people will go in before you. That is normal. Those people probably had an appointment. There are 3 doctors dedicated for the walk-in (when I went anyway). The rest of the docs are for regular clients. I've only been there for the walk-in. But I have been told by regular patients that booking is a lot less of a hassle than the walk-in.
Totally amazing experience. Arrived at 8am and waited one hour - not bad at all for a Derm office! Dr.King was superb. Very knowledgable, took his time to really listen and communicate things clearly. Great sense of humour and very resourceful. I recommend this place highly. Get there before 8am with your referral!
I waited 2 months for an appointment which eventually has been cancelled because of COVID-19. Here I have to mention that they didn’t even bothered to call me up to let me know that my appointment needs to be rescheduled. I called them and then I received an appointment for two months later. So that adds up to 4 months of waiting. Getting close to the date of the appointment I called them to inquire about their situation due to the ongoing pandemic. I was told that all appointments have been cancelled and only the rapid access clinic is available for patients. Good to know! Wish they called me so I don’t wait any longer. I woke up 6 in the morning to get there, to stand in line. When I got to the receptionist she told me that she can see in the system that I have an appointment scheduled. I told her that I spoke to an employee over the phone a couple days ago who told me all appointments have been cancelled. With attitude the receptionist told me that no appointments have been cancelled. The dermatologist to solve my skin problem which turned out to be Melasma told me that if this really bothers me I can put on make up. The melasma is on my face. So why on earth do you think this is something that would not bother me. Told me that if I really want he can prescribe me a bleaching cream. He was rude and told me I should be happy that I don’t have more on my face and that he also has a feeling that I was sun tanning. I developed this around the end of March. It was freezing cold. I didn’t even leave the house much. Where would I sun tan? But he kept on insisting that he has a feeling that I will have an issue with sun tanning. I told him that in my country it’s much sunnier than here and since I moved here I barely been out in the sun cause for one I work all the time, second it is cold for me and I’m always all bundled up. I also told him that no one in my family has any sort of pigmentation problem. His answer to all this was simply that I would have developed this no matter where I am. Great! Why would you say that, why?
Wait times are long so be mentally prepared. But honestly if you need a dermatologist fast it's better than having to wait a few weeks for an appointment. Dr. Ahluwalia was wonderful. She was the first dermatologist to actually listen to me. She was kind and thorough. Best dermatologist experience I've ever had.
It's true what danny and Lisa said. The receptionists are extremely cold and uncompassionate. I took a day off work and traveled 1 hour to see them but they said their system was down so they couldn't let me see the doctor. Without giving any explanation or expressing any sympathy. Dr. King is also pretty incompetent. I been there 3 times and he doesn't even take a look to prescribe. Still not treated. I believe they are mostly interested in cosmetic surgery. I don't understand why they are a dermatologist office. They seem like beauticians.
They literally cured me of cancer. I would recommend them.
Totally NOT recommend this place. I am among of the many people who had the worst experience going to the doctor in this place, rude staff as well. Dr. Davindra Singh, He is very rude, unprofessional and treats patients in a horrible way, he feels like he is damn good in his profession which is totally the opposite!
Love it. Thank you. Came from Kingston Ontario and needed help. They were awesome
Called this morning for urgent test results to be forwarded to the family doctor via fax, was promised of the fact "in the next few minutes". 4+ hours later, the results have not yet been forwarded and i have been on the phone trying to speak to someone for 65 min, thus far. i am cycled through the automated phone system, hold tone, and random hangups. thanks for prioritizing people's health and for making telecom companies seem helpful and efficient. Lets see how long this will take overall, and by the way, forced to miss my appointment with my GP, thanks for that.
No one ever answers the phone or calls you back - the whole place seems like a complete disaster.
My experience here was very disappointing and not what is advertised. My concerns were dismissed even though I was referred to the specialists by an ER doctor. The specialist doctor who attended to me said my bumps were normal for my skin (I’m west African) and asked me what I wanted him to test. How can a specialist ask that of a patient in distress? He told me there was nothing to test and he gave me more medication even after I had tried numerous products. It was very demoralizing and a disgusting way to treat people after taking on the role of a healthcare provider. The doctor was Dr. Ben Kim and this clinic is advertised as the best around the Toronto area. Their service does not match that and I hope they improve.
Been coming here for almost 5 years, The Doctors here diagnosed a pre-skin cancer, if let alone it would have turned into one of the top 3 deadly skin cancers, I'm still at risk but under control. My city has wait times of over 1 year and they misdiagnosed the problem, anyone who complains about wait times, needs to meet me after hours so I can slap some sense into you, you complain you have to wait a few hours over waiting weeks, months or years to see your own skin doctor, shows how ungrateful you are & what kind of clients these doctors have to put up with. KUDOS to the Whole Team at Avantderm, you saved my Life
I've been to this place twice and was very pleased with the treatment given. The first time my doctor, the walk-in clinic and Mackenzie Health Emergency couldn't figure out how to treat an allergy I got from tea tree oil. The dermatologist there knew what to do in seconds. You'll need to go early and wait outside before they open and of course, have a referral and they'll take care of you. Either that or wait the usual 2-3 weeks to see a good Dermatologist. This place is a godsend.
Wait wasn't too long and Dr. Singh made me feel a million times better by reassuring me that my skin would be better in no time! A month later and my skin looks great again :) Their products are not over priced either...actually cheaper than pharmacies.
Rude, rushed
My husband had a wart on his foot for 10+ years. Had recently had expensive laser treatment from a different clinic to only get 3 more warts in the area treated. Only after seeing someone at AvantDerm did he finally get the prescription he needed that eliminated the old and new warts on his foot (aside: prescription was Actikerall). He is finally wart free because of them. The only downside is a long wait time for walk ins but it beats waiting weeks for an appointment.
Don’t let bad reviews scare you. I showed up at 6:30am and was the 5th in line. For me, waiting for 1.5 hours versus 2-3 MONTHS for a specialist appointment is a life-changing benefit. Also, Dr. Singh was knowledgeable and cut right through the chase. I didn’t expect him to listen to my sob stories, I wanted a treatment plan, which I got.
I stay the 8:00 am to 12:00 pm , the apoiment its for my kid 2 years, and when I entry the doctor is to much rude . So... more bad it’s impossible !
Lined up at 6:20AM and was the first person in line. Would recommend coming in before 7AM, as there's a huge rush of people that come at 7AM. Dr. Singh seemed friendly and to the point.
Came here because I have eczema. My family doctor referred me. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the appointment lasts less than five minutes. They ask just a few questions and prescribe medication. The questionnaire you fill out when you come in is also very short. The form I filled out at one of the beauty salons is actually longer. They also ask if you'd be interested in further cosmetic procedures. I'm assuming the ones that aren't covered by OHIP. Actually, this feels more like an upscale spa/beauty salon rather than a clinic. They don't examine you or ask a lot of details about your condition(unlike the dermatologists I later saw at a hospital). In my case, they prescribed the correct medication. However, Dr. Singh was very dismissive and was irritated when I asked him to elaborate on the strong medications he suggested I could try in the future. He also recommended I buy a moisturizing cream and some other products from the brand they advertise at the front.
Dr. Singh needs to check his attitude at the door. Couple people also mentioned it in the comments. He did however explain my condition and gave me a prescription. As for the wait times, to avoid them, show up VERY early. I was there at 7:10 and was 3rd in line, attended right at 8:10, done 10 minutes later.
I got to AvantDerm just before 8 today, and waited about 15 minutes in line before getting inside to fill out my form. Once I got in, they told me the wait would be about an hour and that they would call me, but it actually only ended up being half an hour. Once I arrived back at the clinic, I waited for about 5 minutes before being greeted by Mr. King. He was extremely pleasant, professional and thorough. He did not seem to rush me and explained everything he was prescribing me. I did see the concerning reviews before coming here, but I'm really glad that I still went because my experience was far from negative. I will be back again for a check up in a few months!
I was hesitant after reading these reviews, but the service was really great
The worst clinic, worst receptionist and worst doctors ever. Save your time and go to Dr Andrew Simone best in toronto.
This place is fantastic! I was told by my family Dr. that I had to wait 3-4 months for a dermatology appointment. Avant saw me next morning. I had a potential cancer spot. Care was excellent. Sure, I had to wait a couple hours, but small price for excellent, timely care. This business model should be replicated across the medical specializations!
I'm so impressed. Went in for hives but asked about the dark sun/age spots on my face that I have spent a small fortune on over the years and no success. Here, got a cream prescribed from a compound pharmacy and in less than a month my skin looks even. Can't thank you enough!!!
Was requesting a blood work requisition through email, and Krishanthi replied the email within minutes together with the new blood work requisition. I'm really appreciated for her response time and customer service, thank you Krishanthi!
They never answer the phone!!!
Worst doctor visit ever! Dr. Singh has a horrible attitude. How he’s in a profession to deal with the public is beyond me. Especially an area where many can already be facing many struggles with acne problems. Does not explain anything he is prescribing. Tells you to read a booklet and figure it out. Don’t even think about asking any questions for any drug he is prescribing because you should know what it’s for and what it does. Just an awful experience
Was referred to AvantDerm by GP to check out suspicious spot on skin. Went & saw Dr, who had a biopsy taken & advised they would be in touch with results. Was at the GP. 2 weeks later who looked up results & advised I had a basal cell carcinoma & needed to follow up with AvantDerm to determine next steps. I called & left a message which was returned the next day & an appointment made for the following week. Arrived at appointment time & waited 40 minutes. When Dr. came in he asked my name again, punched it into the computer & casually stated "yep, we found cancer. Do you want to get it out now or come back?". Luckily, my GP had explained everything about this cancer to me so it wasn't as much of a shock had I walked in 'cold'. I said I wanted it out now & was directed back to the waiting room. I mentioned to the Dr. that I also had 2 other spots close to the one which had now been diagnosed as cancerous & asked him to look at them. He replied, they would be happy to look at them however I would have to make another appointment & come back. It would have taken him all of about 10 seconds to take a look at the other spots. After another 40 minute wait, I was called into the room where the procedure would be done. The nurse who prepped me was very nice however, as with all of the staff here, was clearly in a rush. She stated that there is a form to sign but the Dr is in a hurry so I will get you to sign it after. Then rushed out of the room to get the Dr. The Dr. came in and was about to begin when he asked the nurse "you cleaned the instruments, right?" she replied yes. Then he said, these sutures won't hold and took off his gloves to get the right sutures. Once the procedure was done, he said, "ok, we're done, bye". My wife stopped him and said she had a couple of questions....how did he know he got it all to which he replied "I don't". My wife followed up with well what are the next steps to which he advised "we will send in the cells and if I didn't get it all, he will have to come back and do it again or we will refer him to a specialist". Then abruptly left. The nurse then covered the wound with bandages, with a fair bit of difficulty and as I got up from the table I felt something 'pop' & told the nurse this. She said not to worry it was just the tape attached to the bandage. Then handed me a form to sign and quickly removed it after I had signed it. My wife asked what I was signing. The nurse advised it was a form stating that the Dr. had advised me what he was going to do. My wife asked to see the form and took a picture of it. It was a form which clearly should have been presented before the procedure was done. Everyone was in such a rush that again, clearly, the emphasis is definitely not on patient care. I was advised to remove the bandage after 24 hours and apply polysporin. When the bandage was removed we discovered that the stitch had indeed 'popped' and the wound was gaping. An email was sent that night with pictures, as well as called the clinic the next morning several times. Despite the recording stating "you are #1 in the cue, please hold", after a series of recorded ads we were instructed to leave a message which would be returned within 72 hours. We reached the GP at 10:30am and sent her pictures. She advised all that could be done now as it was more than 24 hours was to apply steri-strips. This was a very unnecessary and stressful situation caused by the lack of attention to detail and patient care. This clinic clearly is more interested in #'s than patient care. Yes their facility is pretty and chic, but I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who needs quality care through OHIP paid services. They may treat their 'paying' customers better.
Boggles my mind...daughter had to miss an appointment and reschedule. Left at least a dozen voice and email messages over 3 weeks...even though the message says they will return your call within 24 hrs they never do. I have never witnessed such horrible practices. My daughter is on a drug that needs to be monitored closely on a regular basis but this place obviously does not have the setup to manage good customer service nor follow through on critical situations. Another example of businesses not willing to pay people so the job gets done right. I've never seen anything like this before.
After 2 months of scheduling, I met Dr. Singh about my tremendous hair loss. The appointment was only 5 minutes, and his diagnose is simple: genetics. (Even after I told him I don't have such family history) He didn't ask any details, no blood work, just told me to buy that something from Amazon and use it everyday. After 5 minutes, he was kinda in a hurry to send me out and see the next patient. He might be experienced and have seen tons of people with similar conditions. But I am a first time patient, and I need more insight of what's going on with my body, at least give me more explanations and be more patient until I ask all more questions. I can't comment on his professionism, but my experience here is only "One Star". It just makes me more anxious and stressed.
This clinic that markets itself as an ethnic dermatology specialist clinic, told me nothing can be done to treat my skin concern because... I'm ethnic! I'm incredibly dissapointed that a clinic that claims they specialize in ethnic skin, has zero solutions and offer zero suggestions! When seen by the doctor after waiting hours, he quickly brushed off my concerns and was off to the next patient. He was in the room for all of 2 mins. I've visited 2 other *regular* dermatology clinics, and they were able to immediately come up with solutions, made a list of other potential options, and even recommended other derm clinics! Don't waste your time getting a referral and getting zero help at AvantDerm.
Dr. Singh is very knowledgeable and approachable. After seeing two different dermatologists without much progress, Dr. Singh provided prescriptions that showed results within 2 weeks and he provided a long-term plan during the follow up appointment. It is best to get a referral to avoid waiting too long, I've never waited more than 20 minutes for appointments. Receptionists are not super-friendly but they aren't rude either, no complaints about them.
the whole experience was perfect..Dr Kim took care of my issues professionally...highly recommend
Dr Jennifer is not a good doctor at all she gave me the wrong medication TWICE and I ended up having the worst side effects of my life. I've heard good reviews about other doctors at Avantderm however my experience with Dr Jennifer was terrible.
Wow I went to this place about two years ago. I thought I was the only one with a bad experience with Dr. Singh. That's crazy!!
I was so excited to hear about this place because of how nice it looked online and they’re unique approaches. I know that most dermatologists have pretty long wait lists so I called this morning to inquire about how far in advance they are booking appointments. I was taken back with how rude the lady who answered my phone call was. She was so demeaning and made me feel like I was an idiot just for asking a reasonable question. It honestly made me sad because I was so excited to find such a nice dermatologist centre.
I find it disgusting that in a time of a pandemic there is a line up around the block to get to see someone in this clinic. People should be able to make a proper appointment. One of my parents was referred to this clinic by an emergency room physician at Toronto General and that was a huge mistake. AvantDerm should not be able to operate like this. I will say however after reading the review on Dr. Singh thank goodness we didn’t get in because he sound very incompetent.
Wait times are ridiculous. Follow up appointment was scheduled to go through test results. They didn't even have the report when we came for the appointment. Complete waste of time.
Long wait time, but the people here are terrific. The receptionists and doctors are the best. They found the solution to my problem when no one else could help. I don't know what I would have done without them.
I arrived at 7am and was first in line. Line quickly builds up after 7:30am. 20 people. Like any walk in clinic they get you in and out so don't expect more unless you are paying and made an appointment. I found Dr. Singh to be nice and all the staff friendly and helpful.
Hospital referral should be booked before walk-ins. What is this apple store that people have to camp in a line. Worst way to handle medical emergencies.
Dr. Kim is very friendly and professional; I have had a great experience with him and the Rapid Access Clinic. The facility is extremely clean and service is fast; however, the front desk is very slow and unresponsive. Had to call 8 times to change an appointment time.
Very positive experience with Rapid Access Clinic. It was well worth early morning waiting in the line. Dr. Singh has been very professional and knowledgeable, he diagnosed thoroughly and answered our questions with details along with diagrams which might take weeks (if not months) from another dermatologist appointment. The staff is friendly, and the email response was quick and informative. I think RAC is a pioneer at delivering quality health care service in timely fashion, I sincerely thank Dr. Singh for his dedication and efforts to make this service available.
Dr. Singh needs to practice his profession as a true professional not just some individual rushing to get patients in and out. My wife is going through major skin issues and this Dr. didn't even appropriately examine her. I had high hopes to get her issues resolved but extremely disappointed.
Probably well-known, but quality to-be-improved. I don't know their quality before, but in the autumn of 2020, it's a little bad. But anyway it is probably only one walk-in clinic. Lot's of people visiting. So I will give a 4-star estimation.
They do not answer their phones and they do not respond to their messages either. Had issues with the stitches they put in and tried several times to call and book a follow up appointment but was never called back. Would not recommend. Their lack of communication is very unprofessional
I believe this is Toronto’s only dermatologist with walk-in service, and it shows. If you show up at peak time and expect to see someone quickly, you’re going to be disappointed. Show up 45 mins before they open to see someone quickly when they do eventually open the doors. Doctors themselves are very good and fast. Book an appointment if possible but if you can’t just come early. Don’t fret the low reviews, those are mostly just those who came at a the wrong time.
I've seen a lot of negative comments about wait times and service. I've been here about 4 times and never really had an issue. However, I book an appointment in advance. The longest I've had to wait is about 15 minutes.
The wait was extremely long however the specialist was really knowledgeable and helped. Worth the wait
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. They won’t even answer the phone to book an appointment. Terrible experience
This is pathetic. I called at least four times within two hours to make an appointment and the receptionist clearly wasn't picking up the phone. The message on the phone kept saying I am the second in line (everytime I called ), then in many minutes of waiting, it automatically directs me to leave a message. Every time I called the same thing! You can't be the second in line every time you call and never be connected to the receptionist. It doesn't work like this unless the receptionist keeps the phone on hold for hours without answering any calls.
unprofessional approach to the patient . Doctor Indian
Very pleased with the service and staff. Great to have a walk-in clinic and not have to wait weeks for an appointment! Got there at 7am out at 9am. Very professional and courteous. Highly recommended.
I can't comment on any of the doctors since I wasn't actually able to see one. In September, after two weeks of my MD sending a referral, I called Avantderm and they told me they hadn't received anything. Ok, fine, it happens. Then I sent a second referral and once again didn't hear back from them. I called them on October the 29th and they said they received my referral 2 weeks ago. Ok, why did no one call me? I decided to just go for the walk-in option the following week, not knowing I would be waiting an hour and a half. I check in and the receptionist tells me to go grab a coffee and she will call me when it's my turn. Within 15-20 minutes she calls me and says "the doctor is ready to see you now". I return to the clinic with a croissant I had bought from a local bakery. Obviously, with covid, I cannot eat inside but I didn't mind because it was my turn anyway. Well, I ended up waiting another 1hr and 15 minutes! I was very patient and never complained but at this point I had to leave in order to make a following appointment. The receptionist told me "well, you should have came earlier". The whole reason why I had to come in for a walk-in was because of Avantderm's negligence in contacting me, so that I would have enough time to book an appointment. Nothing about this experience was professional. No one called me for my referrals, at no point did any of the receptionists mention that I may be waiting a long time, I'm not sure why they told me the doctor was ready to see me when I ended up waiting another hour, and to top it all off I had to spend money on Uber just to make my next appointment! Safe to say I won't be going back.
After having a stressful eczema breakout, I had a stressful experience at avantderm. Dr.Singh remained dismissive and uncompassionate throughout all of my visits. Dr.Singhs medical guidance was pointless and damaging (prescribed steroid creams with little guidance, various medications, took two biopsy's) . In my desperation for help I continued to go to appointments, but looking back I would've healed better without the added stress of dealing with Dr.Singhs incompetence.
Its good to know that they do rapid access. But only drawback is the way they send people in. They need to start giving Numbers to each patient as they arrives, so that they know the approx time it will take to see Doc. Please accommodate this thing and it will be a lot easier for you and for us as Patients. Place has limited space so if we know our number than we can keep track and come back later before our number. And that way u can also have some room. Just a suggestion though. Thank you.
I was surprised to see a line up of 15-20 people when I arrived at 7:30 am (the clinic opens at 8:00 am). However, they have free wifi so bring a laptop or read a book and the wait won't be so bad. They also kindly let everyone in before 8:00 am because it was pouring out. Dr. Tran was amazing-- without a doubt one of the best doctors I've seen. She explained what she was doing and took the time to explain next steps. Her positive attitude, friendliness and professionalism warrant 5 stars for AvantDerm.
Amazing experience. I reached the clinic and waited in line at 6:45 am. There were three people ahead of me. The clinic opened at 7:30 am, and the receptionists were very friendly and registered all of us quickly. When services actually started at 8:00 am, I was called immediately and saw a doctor. Dr. Jane Wu is FANTASTIC. I didn’t even feel rushed and she took the time to explain the medical condition and treatments. Tl;dr: Best walk-in clinic for dermatological visits. If you want to see a dermatologist early in the morning, get in the line before 7 am.
The negative reviews are on point. The receptionists were miserable and uninterested, to the point of rudeness. I saw Dr. Singh and he was equally as uninterested. I was referred by my GP to have several moles checked yet he had no idea why I was there. I literally had to request he look at each one individually, it was like pulling teeth and he barely said a word. I got the distinct feeling he thought I was wasting his time. I even asked about some cosmetic treatment. He looked at me like I was an idiot and just rambled something about getting some cream. When I told my GP I was going to attend this clinic he said "Some patients don't like it there, they feel like they don't get the full experience." I realize now he was giving me a cryptic warning that they're terrible and people complain about hating the place. Extremely negative experience all round, if you're referred and have a choice, go somewhere else.
Went on 07/11/18. Overall, a great office, polite staff. Dr. King is a great doctor and had a good experience with him. Brittany is a great nurse - she is patient and took the time to explain the procedure and wound care. I would recommend this clinic and visit again. In more detail, I arrived at 6:30, I was the third in line. Around 6 people were in line by 6:50. An administrative member of staff around 7:20 and opened the doors/signing people in. The two individuals in front of me were called around 8:15. I was brought into an office around 8:20. Saw Dr. King for ~3 minutes for a consult and ~1 minute for the procedure. I left around 8:30. To avoid waiting, ARRIVE EARLY.
I was recommended this place by my family doctor as other dermatologist clinics apparently have 6 months - 1 year wait time. I thought this was finally going to be the answers to my prayers regarding my condition ... turns out it was NOT. Dr. Singh is the RUDEST doctor I have ever come across and was NOT in the least bit helpful. I highly suggest going somewhere else if you can. Not worth waiting in line at 7 am
If I could do zero stars I would. If you care about yourself you would avoid this place. The service is terrible & they never pick up the phone or return calls or respond to emails when trying to MAKE an appointment. Tried several times several weeks apart. You could lineup outside at 7am to see somebody but appointment requests are ignored. This is also a problem. They will take walk-ins if you lineup, see you once & ignore all other appointment requests so you are kind of stuck. I wish my doctor would have referred me to somebody good because Avantderm do not care about their patients. Now I will need to go back to my doctor & request another reference to see somebody competent which is time consuming & my issue is still not resolved.
Called to make an appointment. Was told to just walk in And to come close to the open time which is 8 am I got here by 7:35 and there were already 15 people in front of me Two hour wait time And the receptionist is telling me to book an appointment...like I have a choice at this point First appointment she gives me is for mid Jan
The wait time is really bad. I arrived slightly before the opening time and waited 4 hrs 15 mins to see the doctor. However, I'm grateful for the rapid clinic option - at least I get to see the doctor same day, versus the dermatologist my family doctor referred me to would only see me in 4 months. Dr. Singh has been very helpful clearing my acne. Although the visit times are also fast and short, he has been on track of my progress. Thank you doctor.
My experience at AvantDerm went really well. This was my first time coming here with the referral from my doctor. I did attend early and waited outside for 30 min and then was greeted at door to come inside. All their Covid protocols are in place and they are very organized with that. The front desk staff are very professional. I then registered and waited another 30 min and then saw the dermatologist. The doctor was professional and treated me right away. I highly recommend this Derm office, especially to see a Derm same day!
Such a great experience here. The receptionists were both very friendly. Dr. Singh is hands down the friendliest and most welcoming doctor I have ever been treated by. He didn't rush me, he was attentive and explained everything he was doing. Nikki the nurse did my biopsy and was very gentle and friendly during the procedure. Worth the wait, and you definitely want to get here early (I arrived at 6:55 AM and there were already 4 people in line waiting outside of the clinic.
Like others have said. Dr. Singh is the rudest doctor. Scratch that. Rudest person, I have ever encountered. He asked me what has helped my eczema in the past. I said diet changes are the only thing that have helped. Then he belittled me and said in these exact words "Okay when you are ready to drop the natural route and FAIL...which you WILL FAIL...then come back and see me." You could have worded this in a much more pleasant way but chose to be a dick instead. Thanks. I told him that steroid creams have not helped in the past and then he continues to try and prescribe me steroid creams anyways. Everyone who has eczema knows this doesn't work. So let me get this straight. I just told you the only thing that has had any little bit of success in my 31 years of trying eczema is a diet change and you just brush off that information? What a crook. If I could give a zero star rating that would be more appropriate.
I had a referral from my doctor to visit them but I needed to book an appointment first, they don't ever pick up their phones or respond to emails. I have never seen a clinic not respond to emails or calls, very unprofessional. Honestly why visit a clinic that doesn't even respond to your calls or emails it seems very odd
Excellent services at the front desk. However, the doctor was Terrible. He sit down for 2min With typing on the keyboard while asking you questions. I waited like 20min and only been treated for 2min. He was so rush to let me go and keep saying ok?ok? Kinda want to cut me off and leave. Rude and Horrible consulting service. Also, they only allow you ask one skin problem. If you need to ask more, you need to get another referral letter your doctor. Doctor just said alright and left before I even leave the room. I feel they don’t need a chair to sit down and talk. They just need to rent a computer with the zoom for the patients or walkie-talkie. Strongly recommend not going there for treatments. I wish I could leave negative rating but apparently I couldn’t. But it shows how bad it is just for a reference other potential patients. Please review this before you go.
Really frustrating place to go, as soon as doctor heard that I don't have insurance she ignored my concerns
I am so glad I came to this clinic. Dr. Chen was absolutely amazing and has given me hope! The front staff were very friendly and professional. I am seeing alot of negative reviews on here and I think it is very unjustified. This is a rapid walk in clinic with referral. You need to wait in line to to be seen your first time. I have had many dermatologists over the past several years and have had to wait months to even be seen the first time. If I have to wait in line for a couple of hours to be seen, it is well worth the wait.
First time I called them, I got really great customer service! After booking an appointment I have tried to call back to confirm and ask a question but my messages do not get returned and the line just automatically disconnects. This happened at least seven times in the last week.
Somethings not right, I came here 7 years ago and was taken aback by then professionalism and great degree of care and service. Years later (in 2020), I returned and a lot had changed. Service is mediocre, care is rushed and impersonal. I’m really surprised.
Huge waiting time for a scheduled appointment.
Went in for my son and didn't even take a look at him nor did he listen to anything I had say and w.e he did listen to was responded with rudeness. Prescribed a ton of medication and flew out of the room.
Well worth the wait in line. The doctor was knowledgeable and was able to resolve my condition effectively with my best interest in mind. I've seen multiple doctors prior to this clinic with no success in treating the skin infection I had. Very pleased with my experience.
All the staff are very nice people and very helpful
Over three hours of waiting and yet to get called... literally every other person in line seen and then some new patients coming in. They claimed I’ve been called multiple times. I’ve yet to hear my name called... I saw another Mathew go in... Edit: “You’re up next”. Three others called ahead of me. Oh boy. Edit 2: We’re up to five. Edit 3: I saw the other guy that isn’t doctor sing. Really friendly. The clinic at least so far has him going for it.
My daughter have rashes, all over her body. Emergency doctor give me a referral. It's walking. Early morning 6.50 am we reached there, we are 4th in queue. 7.00am they start registration. Dr.kim diagnosed my daughter. I like this clinic. They are fast, intelligent and experienced. They know what they are doing. I recommend.
I m very very disappointed to see dr singh .he is very un professional and rude he was in rush I WANT TO KNOW WHICH CARELESS BOARD GIVE HIM CERTIFICATE .When he cannot treatment in various skin problem .i drove car 110km (one side) to see dr .he saw me just 2 minutes .i was out 8.03AM .he said i can't handle your keloid problem .WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR TREATMENT I m in pain can't sleep ,cannot do normal activity. I wish i can throw dr singh certificate in garbage .
horrible dermatologist, reception was very friendly however I had the same experience with the asian doctor, Ben Kim I believe his name is, he looked at my hands with a flashlight for maybe four seconds and wrote me prescription, he was very dismissive when I tried to show photos or give him more symptom information, it seemed as if he didn't care at all, I wouldn't recommend.
Was told by Dr.Singh's medical assistant that I was "wasting tax-payers money" when I tried to schedule an emergency follow up appt, as my primary dermotolagist is not accepting appts at this time. Absolutely disgusted with this type of treatment, and as a "tax-payer" myself, I will definitely not be paying any more visits to this clinic.
been there a few times and everything worked smoothly but now they want to do a reassessment 2 months from now. in the mean time i have to wait and be uncomfortable. in health care if you have a treatment ongoing it should not be interupted for reasons like that. Staff its great except te receptionist i spoke to today who pretty much told me to wait in line or f.. off . again, it's an ongoing treatment, it's not a new condition. it should not take that long.
Dr. Singh is very unprofessional and rude. He tries to disguise at being "straight to the point" but he is just plain disrespectful. Save some time and go to a different dermatologist, even if you have to have wait an extra month. Reception is the only redeeming quality of this poor excuse of a clinic.
I would love to thank Dr. King and his team. Beautiful work! Thank you for being patient and answer all questions.
Dr. Singh is extremely unprofessional and rude. His main goal is to proceed with the appointment and go to the next one in the fastest possible way. He just does't care about the patients and the diagnose. He spent 3 minutes with me, continuously interrupting and not listening at all. I don't even get how this place can still have him and what is he paid for.
For their Rapid Access Clinic (walk-in), I arrived on a Friday at 8:30AM and waited in line outside for about 15 minutes before I was allowed inside to register; there were about 5 people ahead of me waiting outside to register and the line moved pretty quickly. After registering, I was told it would be an hour before I would be seen - good thing I went home because it was actually 2 hours between the time I registered and when I was actually seen by a dermatologist. I had Dr. Singh. I wouldn't say he is the type that shows kind, caring and concern for his patients - but he will get the job done. This is not to say he's good or bad, it's just my personal interpretation of our appointment. You will like him or not like him based on your own personal style and how you like to be treated by your doctor. I think I would come back only for their walk-in option, which I love, because you get to be seen the same day. For long-term solutions and follow-ups, I think I will go somewhere else.
This clinic was fantastic. The staff and Dr King were kind, sincere and attentive. My wife was desperate to see a dermatologist and this clinic was recommended to her. We came from Ajax and waited our turn - around 2 hours. Where else can you see a doctor that resolves your issue without waiting for 1-2 months for an appointment. Highly recommend.
I had two appointments about acne so far with dr. Davindra Singh. He is the most impatient doctor I have ever met. I'm considering going on Accutane which is a really powerful medicine (comes with a lot of side effects). He didn't explain how the medicine works or why it's suitable for me, he stood up and started walking out the room when i was still trying to address my concerns. The entire appointment was about 5mins before he rushed me out the door.
I was referred by my doctor who told me to be there early bc it is busy place .I reached 7:15 and was 16 in line ,was in for registration within 30 min after that was called in within 20 min to see the doc.Polite receptionist, staff very courteous and doc Singh didn’t waste time got right at what was to be done .next appointment after 2weeks .
I had visited the place and as I was in the clinic I saw Dr. Singh walk to the back and I just heard the door slam really loudly and myself and people in the waiting room got scared. I don't know if it was just a faulty door or he meant to slam the door but that was not professional one bit. I've read all these negative reviews and I wanna say they speak true. I felt no compassion in the room with the doctor. Aside from my experience with Dr. Singh, the receptionists were very friendly and nice. However, it does not erase the way Dr. Singh acted and his unprofessionalism.
I went to avantderm about four years ago for phototherapy treatment. Recently I returned for another skin issue and Dr. Singh is just as condescending and unhelpful as he was last time. Avoid this place if you can and find a dermatologist who actually cares about their patients.
I can’t say enough good things about the clinic and the care received by Dr Singh and the staff at Avantderm. My daughter was 17 and Dr Singh was able to cure my daughters acne. It was amazing as a Mom to watch the transformation. Now everyone comments how amazing my daughter’s skin looks! What a bifference and thank you so very much!!
Great
I reached there at 7:40 am, and there was about 50 people ahead of me, and another 60-80 came after me. They stopped taking new patients after 9:25 am, few people came after that time, and they turn them back. I had to wait about 5 hours for my turn, The female Dr. was nice, she was not in hurry. She diagnosed my issue very well and gave me medicine that cure the issue within few days. I have a follow-up appointment with her in next few weeks. My advise: 1- Come early, before 7:00 am 2- There are lots of paid parking around the area, I paid $14 3- Bring some food and water 4- There are not enough seats so be prepared to stand up 5- You will spend 2-6 hours over there depending how early you come 6- Be prepared to line up outside of the clinic (on sidewalk), so wear heavy clothing in colder days. 7- Take a day off or at least half day off the work. 8- Don’t forget to bring the Referral form signed by your Family doctor. They won’t take you without it. You can download the Referral form from there website, its right on their homepage It’s worth spending half a day than to wait weeks for dermatologist. Good luck
Not really sure why everyone is complaining about wait times when we’re so grateful for this rapid access clinic. The staff were friendly, patient and helpful. Dr. King was very knowledgeable and was able to treat my mother’s medical emergency when an urgent care centre / walk-in clinics weren’t able to.
Nice staff Satisfied with the treatment
Efficient and professional service.
I recently used the Rapid Access Clinic to see a derm for accutane. I got there around 7am and was the 7th person in line. Staff were very quick and organized with registration. I saw Dr. Singh at around 8:30am and he was quick but thorough. I told him I had completed a previous course of accutane to which he said the dose was too low and he was comfortable letting me go on accutane again. I had seen another derm about a month prior who prescribed me a topical and refused to put me on accutane again, even though I had told her topicals have never worked for me. So I am very happy with the quick and direct care I got at AvantDerm.
To start things off, the receptionist was very rude! The office over books patients and has as many as 10 to 15 people waiting outside, so when it's your turn to see the doctor, the receptionInternet acts like she has to move heaven and earth, just to open a door and let you in.
Dr.Singh is so arrogant and rude. I have never seen such an ignorant doctor in my life. No wonder 40% of the rating is one star because of Dr.Singh behaviour and unprofessionalism.
Any establishment that makes you wait 3+ hours to see a doctor for 5 minutes is a joke of a business and not worth your time. Do yourself a favour and just make an appointment to see a different professional, no matter how long it takes to get one. This place is complete waste of time. Worse than sitting in emergency at a hospital. Either get more docs on staff or don’t offer this service. Worst experience.
Terrible experience with this place. The wait times are outrageous, they are under-staffed, and have nurses doing work that should be done by a doctor. For my own health I won't be back to this place.
Ughhh what a waste of time going here! I had a bleeding and painful granuloma on my lip and I needed to get it taken care of asap and not wait 6 weeks to see my dermatologist but apparently they do not take people who have one even if it is an emergency and this is not clearly stated on their website. I thought that was the whole point to the clinic, was to treatment issues that needed immediate attention!!! I basically had to strong arm and come back in that same day after talking to urgent care to been seen. Apparently they did not have the right “tools” to treat me, which is a load of you know what! At that point no one had even looked at the issue and they told me they where going by the referral, which could have changed or been wrong, which it was because at the point the referring doc thought it was a cyst. By the time I got in to see the doc many hours later he did not listen to me and was cold and diagnosed what I had wrong and would not treat it and wanted to refer me to a plastic surgeon to which I have yet to receive a call about that 3 weeks ago. Don’t waste your time with this clinic!
4.5 hour wait to have all of 4 minutes with an expert who seemed like he just wanted to move onto the next patient.
Always a good experience with Dr King. He speaks honestly and directly. He is kind and thoughtful. The staff are exceptional.
Waited for three hours but it was better than waiting for 7 months then waiting another hour.
Everyone that has negative feedback should consider writing to the ministry of health.
A total waste of my time. Doctor Singh was very curt and did not answer my questions satisfactorily. I will certainly not recommend it to anyone.
Have seen people post similar reviews as for what I experienced. Front staff is super nice and friendly but the doctor I saw didn’t even bother to take a look at my skin he just came in for a few seconds suggested a dandruff shampoo that I have been using (told him like 3 times and he made faces and kept saying no you don’t lol). After waiting over 2 hrs to see him for a few seconds and he didn’t even bother. I don’t think I would like to go in again.
Great experience with front staff and wait times are very fast. However, the doctor who saw me (Dr. Whan Ben Kim) did not even bother to take a look at my rash and dismissed it as eczema without even looking at me at all (I was wearing a full wintercoat). Then he proceeded to upsell the products that they have in the clinic. Felt like a waste of time going there.
Called me this morning with VERY important results, yet they refuse to pick up the phone (I am calling not during lunch hours - they take 12 - 1:30 for lunch.. must be nice). It is now 1:42PM on Monday and nobody is answering... This is ridiculous... scare clients with a phone call and then refuse to answer the phone. Super unprofessional.
I'm not usually one to write bad reviews but I had a terrible experience. First, they made me wait inside a boardroom by myself while the reception area was almost empty. Secondly, 20 minutes AFTER my appointment time I went to the reception asking why my doctor was so late and was told to always expect a minimum 45 minute wait time from your scheduled appointment, which I find to be ridiculous (I also had not been informed prior to going that I should expect such a long wait, even if I scheduled something). If I schedule an appointment time I expect to go in at that time. Then I asked the receptionist why I'm waiting in a boardroom and she told me that cosmetic appointments usually wait there when the reception is really busy in the mornings. I proceeded to look around the empty room and show her that that wasn't the case. She then suggested I could come back out and wait in the reception if I wanted to... a bit degrading of an experience to say the least. I would hope that they would use common sense before sending people into a boardroom alone, feeling very out of place, instead of letting them wait with regular people in the reception. So I left. Needless to say, with such poor customer service and treatment, I will not be going back.
Came to Avant Derm for two full treatments. The doctors were great and prescribed exactly what I needed; appointments were concise and right to the point, great for my busy schedule. However, I have had a positive experience with the receptionist until last week. First, at the scheduled time of my phone consultation/appointment, the doctor did not call me, so I called the clinic the following day and was told the doctor was out of office on the previous day (which I was not being told). The following week, I was expecting another call, and the wrong number was called. However, the receptionist was so certain that it was my problem. I sent an email immediately, and when she replied through a call, she acted like I should be extremely thankful that I was even getting a call to address the issue, and kept mentioning the fact that there are so many patients during the pandemic. I completely understand that we are in a pandemic, and things can be hard. However it's not the reason to act like that. I am working full-time, so in order to make time for the appointment, I rescheduled my meetings twice. And reading the comments made me realize I am not the only one who experienced issues like this......
I was referred by my GP. I think this is a good source for them to find clients for plastic surgery and work that is not covered by the government health insurance. The form I filled asked if I would be interested in plastic surgery in the future. I vaguely remember about being asked if I want to be contacted in the future. The doctor was very quick to inform me that I can get my small scar removed for a cost of $250 as OHIP will not cover that. The nurse will not do anymore than just cutting a very small stitch. I had to ask for a disinfectant and a band aid for the small but. They can do better for using public money.
As far as I know, this is the ONLY option for timely dermatology care in Toronto, so it's definitely worth the wait times. The doctors are experienced and the staff are professional and friendly.
Dr. Singh is great and so is his staff - worth the short wait!
Show up early on day you want treatment and you will be rewarded with professional, prompt and courteous medal care. Like any professional medical clinic, arrive late with unrealistic expectations and you will be disappointed with long waits. Dr. Singh and his staff are highly professional and treat patients very well. Highly recommended
I really don't understand all the negative reviews here. I have been to Avantderm twice and i think its a great clinic. Both times i saw Dr. Singh which im so glad i did, and i think he is an amazing doctor. I did my research before coming, so i arrived early (6:50 first visit and 6:30 second) and was the first one to go in. The girls on the reception were very friendly and helpful. They usually come in around 7:40, let you in right away and start registering patients. Dr. Singh is friendly, courteous and most importantly - very knowledgeable. He does not need to look at you for half an hour just because he's been doing his job for so long and he has tons of experience. He can see the problem right away. After being through hell and having really bad experience with different doctors, im so glad i finally got a referral to Avantderm. Dr. Singh literally saved my face! Also, im using the skincare products he recommended and they work wonders. Thank you!
I was there at 6.40; was first in the queue; doors open at 7.30; saw Dr Singh at 8.05 and was out in 5 minutes. He is a good doctor
I never write reviews however, since reading so many negative reviews I felt I should write about my positive experience. My husband was referred to AvantDerm and we went on a Friday. I called and was told that if we arrived by 7:30 am he would be seen. We drove all the way from Brampton and arrived at 7:25 am. We were shocked to see so many people in line. My husband went to the front to see how quickly the line was moving and saw a note on the door stating they were only seeing 32 patients that day. Needless to say he wasn't seen. My husband was very disappointed and expressed this to the front desk. I stated it wasn't her fault. Trust me I was very disappointed and upset as well. The front desk advised us that we could come back Monday or book an appointment in May (4 months from now). He booked an appointment for May. Long story short, when we got home there was a message from Shar. I called Shar back and she said I stood out in her mind and she felt for us. She went on to tell me that there was an opening on Monday and of course we booked it. Shar was so thoughtful, caring and considerate. I can't thank her enough! She restored my faith. As for Dr. Chen, she put us both at ease. She examined my husband thoroughly. We asked her as many questions as we needed and didn't feel rushed. I highly recommend her!
Went on a Monday morning at 7:40am, the office was already open and there was about 15 people in the line up. I was able to see the doctor by 9am. The doctor was reassuring and showed confidence and professionalism.
Based on the previous reviews I went prepared for the wait. Got there for 7.30 am and there ew already about 30 people lined up. It was not too cold but I was dressed in layers. The reception opened at 7:45 so we got to get in the warm. The receptionist was polite and friendly. Waiting room was comfortable with wifi’s so everyone was either on their phone or laptops. I got to see Dr. King, very pleasant and helpful. I did not feel rushed and he answered all my questions and concerns. The experience was amazing worth the wait. The one thing I would change would be have a BIGGER notice on the door for PUSH or PULL. I noticed almost every 2nd person struggled opening the door either coming in or going out. They pushed and pulled going out and the ones outside thought you were closed. They stood there and someone had to either tell them or let them in.
Do not go here if you can find a dermatologist elsewhere. They really do treat you like cattle here. I felt like I was nothing more than a number with a dollar sign. They know they get hoards of people coming in during the walk-in clinic and they treat individuals very quickly. I asked one dermatologist if I could ask for advice about a certain skin problem that was new since I had received my original referral. She said: "Make it quick." That's way too paternalistic. A doctor should not be treating a patient in this manner. They need to learn how to make time for each patient rather than trying to cram too many patients into tiny time-slots so they can make an extra buck.
Excellent experience with the Rapid Access Clinic. I arrived at 6:40am and was third in line. Office opened at 7:25am. COVID protocols followed to limit number of people in reception / waiting room. Friendly and efficient intake process. Seen by specialist at 8:15am. Very professional assessment, clear instructions, answered my questions, then done. Out the door by 8:25am. Of note: Waiting line is outside, so dress for the weather. Patients asked for their cell phone number at registration, then must leave the building (due to COVID protocol), and will be called/texted to return when next in que to see the doctor. You must have a MD referral to be seen in Rapid Access Clinic -- and for only one condition. I suggest that patients read the full website text regarding the Rapid Access Clinic so that you know what to expect. The clinic runs with "Tim Horton's drive through efficiency" -- very good at what they are doing. Excellent opportunity to see a specialist quickly.
Never go here if you want good solution to your problems. Just looked at me from 10 feet away and said it is eczema and some sort of bites ... seriously from 10 feet away ? My Pharmacist knows better than you idiots .... bunch of money grabbers...go and read your books properly...
Dr.Singh is great! I don't know why there are any negative reviews for a dermatologist you can get into this quickly downtown. I arrived at 7 a.m. and as expected there was a few people in front of me but I was in and out very quickly after they opened. He took the time to discuss things with me and offered me different tests as well a treatment that worked great! He even followed up with me exactly when advised he would a few weeks later. Very happy I was able to come here!
Most efficient, fast and knowledgeable place in TO for skin issues. Dr. Singh very courteous and helpful. Why go anywhere else.
Dr. Lansang is condescending, lacks customer service skills, and doesn't listen to everything the patient has to say. Just because you're a doctor doesn't mean that you know it all. Doctors here just want you out the door as soon as possible. Been here only for the second time and will NEVER return.
This place is terrible and I don't write that lightly. It's operated on the principle of managing people rather than doing real medicine - which involves care. I've been seen by a few doctors here and each one has treated me in a rather condescending manner. I've asked genuine questions about my condition, only to have been quickly dismissed. I was even ridiculed once. It's clear that I'm wasting their time with questions. They want to see and "treat" as many patients in a day as possible so that they can make a profit. It's clear that profit is their main motive. Treating people with care is secondary. Also, they should be ashamed at the amount of advertising that they display in their clinic. Avoid this place if you can. If you have a condition that might involve long-term treatment, I would advise you to find a more highly-rated and respected dermatologist.
Really grateful for this clinic opening a walk-in option; otherwise, the waiting time for a dermatologist is 6 months. I cannot imagine someone potentially with cancer waiting for this long just to be diagnosed. Thanks for the doctors, staff, and nurses there. They are friendly and professional. Special thanks to Dr. Kim, who is patient with us and professional. Thankful for the service at Avantderm.
Absolutely terrible. I came in with a slightly unusual eczema and got put on strong antibiotics. When that didn't work they kept telling me how they had 'no idea what it could be'. I went to another dermatologist and got diagnosed in 2 minutes.
I went there on Wednesday at 7:50am and the doctor took me at 10:40. The consultation lasts 5 minutes. So i waited 2 hours for 5 minutes, LOL. Although the staff is welcoming.
My doctor referred me to this walk-in clinic after other dermatologist clinics had declined my referral since they were fully booked. I had to travel from out of town and arrived by 6.30am. I was the first in line. Doors were open for registration at 7.10am and I saw the doctor at 8am. Despite the inconvenience at getting up extremely early and standing in line for awhile, the experience was satisfying. Service staff were professional and kind, doctor was prompt and efficient - his prescription worked to clear my face of eczema flare-ups.
Yes, I got here an hour (7am) before opening. Yes, I had to wait outside in the cold. Yes, even though I lined up early, I still ended up waiting nearly 2 hours. Would I do it again? Absolutely. If you’re reading this you’re probably looking for a derm. You also know how notoriously long wait times can be for an appointment. This is a problem and AvantDerm is helping to solve it by seeings dozens of patients every morning that would’ve otherwise contributed to your appointment wait times. I don’t blame AvantDerm for making me stand outside before opening hours because it was either an hour standing or wait 6 months for an appointment. Furthermore their front desk came early so I was actually inside the building seated on a chair before 8am. The front staff were very polite while dealing with more than half a hundred patient in the first hour of a Monday morning. They had 3 doctors on duty so turnover rate was about a patient every ~5mins. At 7am there were already 10-15 patients lined up and at 8am it grew to over 30. If you cannot make it before 9am I suggest trying another day.
I had very low expectations coming here today but I’m very happy to say I was completely wrong. I saw dr. King and explained I’ve been dealing with severe eczema for over 10 years and nothin g has helped, and he is the first doctor who is actually sending me for serious testing to figure out how to solve this. I’m very happy with my visit here and thankful that a dermatologist took the time to liste for once and help get me results. Show up before 8 as it gets busy fast! I arrived 7:40 and was seen by 9:10!
I don’t know why there are so many negative reviews. The staff was amazing and courteous, Dr. Kim was great and answered my questions. More importantly, this dermatology clinic doesn’t HAVE to do this, they are really bridging a gap in our Canadian health care and should be commended for doing so. My other option was to wait 4 months to get a rash looked at. I arrived early 7:15 was seen by 8:20 and was out before 9. Just have your referral, be polite and ready.
Tried to call multiple times, but nobody answers the phone. Their auto answer phone system also seems to have technical problems, couldn’t even leave a voice message
Please don't waste your time! If you don't arrive at 7am they won't take you.
Wait time was about 2 1/2 hours. The doctor I saw was exceptional! I saw one of the lady doctors. She was able to diagnose my condition right away and prescribed meds that has taken effect after just two days! I saw 5 doctor's before seeing her, to no avail. Thanks again!
Rapid Clinic.... I think not. So I called to book an appointment for Friday and the lady said "Oh no need, we have the rapid access clinic!!". I took the advice and went in at 9am, was informed there was a 1.5 hour wait time because of all of the appointments they had and waited until 12:30 to get in. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!
2.5 hour wait for the rapid access clinic, 1 hour wait if you have an appointment, and they didn't even have the required treatment available....worst.
Please save your precious time and energy and don't go to Dr Lansang. Not competent and not a professional at all. Was very unpleasant and confusing to talk to. Did not introduce herself and rushed through the whole consultation. Was being extremely disrespectful, rude and demeaning. Didn't spend any time looking at my skin and didn't listen to my concerns. Whenever I wanted to ask a question she though she has the right to interrupt me. Did not even try to calmly explain various treatment options. Did not ask me about other products I am using and didn't make any sensible product suggestions for my skin type. A nightmare.
Went for Rapid Access. Lined up at 7:20 (there were 10 people in front of me) and was complete and out of there by 9 AM. Friendly and competent service, despite being a highly busy spot.
The place looks amazing, marketing and design department are doing super good, and the receptionists are great and well trained. The dermatologist Dr Singh a rude guy with no sense of service, was one of the worst services that I’ve seen in my life, the doctor don’t even look at you, when you ask for advice or more information he is always in a rush and can’t answer. when i was with him I tried to show him more than one issue but he said "we only look one thing per session" of course because he wants more money but he don’t care about help people, if he would check, he would know what really was happening with me,(after some research and other doctor, i knew that both things were related), but he didn’t care about my symptoms, only wanted me in the next session without answering any questions, I’m not going to talk about the line under the rain, how slow is the service and how short is the session. I’m pretty sure that this clinic is paying advertising to get more stars and good reviews because for that price they are not doing their job at all
I love this place. I have no idea why people complain about the wait times. I went to a walk in clinic, who referred me to the Rapid Access Clinic at Avant Derma the next day. She warned me that because it basically is a walk-in clinic for referrals that I might wait a few hours, but surely waiting a few hours to see a dermatologist is better than waiting more than 8 weeks! Heck, even my own family doctor generally books appointments four weeks out. At any rate, the clinic opens at 8. I arrived at 7:15. There were about 4 people in front of me. Once the clinic opened, I filled out some paperwork and was seen by the Dermatologist by about 8:30. I was very pleased by the doctor that I saw (I don't remember his name, but he was male, south Asian). He was very friendly, and although there were a lot of patients outside waiting, I did not feel rushed. Just make sure that you bring something to eat/read in case you end up waiting for a few hours.
I'm not sure what everyone's expectation is for Dr. Singh, he has clearly surpassed every dermatologist I've seen. He has walk-ins, next day, no appointment needed, only a referral. Wait time isn't a big deal 15mins -1hr is my longest wait. It all depends on how many walk-ins for the day. He is definitely worth the wait, he's the only one that will do a biopsy to determine the treatment. He gives you answers and he's very honest. He will not waste your time. Most dermatologist you have to wait 2 weeks for a referral and when you get a call, your scheduled appointment is in 6 months. On top of all that the receptionist is always in a bad mood. If you don't want answers and you can't take honesty, I suggest you go wait for 3-6months for a different dermatologist. I much rather drive an hr to see Dr. Singh, and not to mention his staff is very pleasant and kind.
Dr Wu is an amazing doctor, take time to explain and makes you feel comfortable
Went there for a walk-in appointment. Make sure to be there around 7:30am latest (clinic opens at 8, but the whole dang city flocks to this place since it’s the only walk-in in the city). I waited about 1.5 hours and ended up seeing Dr Singh. He’s not the best but not the worst either; it’s obvious that he’s in a rush to see all the patients in line. He is dismissive, talks over you, and is overall not very attentive. He didn’t even give me 5 minutes of his time. I was hoping to discuss my skincare routine, and go over what the possible causes are for my eczema ie., is it an issue with the products I’m using? Or maybe it’s an allergic reaction to things in my environment? Anyhow, I probably won’t be going back to Avant Derm; I will get a referral to another dermatologist and wait as long as it takes.
Extremely happy with the doctor and nurse here and very thankful that a quick access clinic exists. I read some of the comment here and people need to be more realistic. You can either wait two months for a regular referral or you can come down here early and wait for two hours. The choice should be pretty obvious. The receptionists are ok (one was friendlier than the other). The doctor and nurse are both great. The doctor (Dr. King) was a bit on the rush (no surprise given that they have like 30 patients at 8AM) but he was professional, listened to me and answered my questions, even chit chat my other non related condition a bit and offered me something.to go forward. Sure the consultation was only 5 minutes but I felt confident at his opinion and treatment options. The nurse is very friendly and probably one of the best nurse I have seen.
My experience was seamless - almost exactly like how Joshua G described below. I arrived late morning on a Tues, and the wait was short and pleasant. My referring doctor had suggested I arrive before opening, but that wasn't necessary - at least that day. Dr. Kim was very patient with me, asked questions and was very helpful. Really glad I came here.
I had excellent patient experience at AvantDerm with Dr. Kim twice in the past four weeks. Dr. Kim was assertive, decisive and compassionate. I was able to feel so much better with his valuable advice and care. The clinic was clean and stylish, with friendly and efficient staff. Thank you very much!
This place is utter sh&@. Arrive at 8am and you still have a 3hr minimum wait. Not to mention its 15 degrees out and they have the air conditioning on. When you ask them to try it off, the receptionist merely smirks and suggests you step outside to warm up. "F&@$ you." Thankfully three hours sitting here is giving me enough time to review this awful place in as many places as I can.
Whatever you do, never set foot in this place!! I was referred by my doctor when I suddenly broke out into painful, itchy hives (not allergy related). I waited for 7 hours to see a doctor. When someone finally saw me, Dr D. Singh, he told me he was doing ME a favour by seeing me because he usually doesn't see patients. He barely allowed me to explain what was happening before he concluded that I had eczema (I have eczema and this was not it). I said this to him and he laughed at me saying he knows best. He then said he needed to do a biopsy (if he was so sure, i'm unaware why he needed to test it). In any case, the biopsy was done poorly (sloppy stitches and a permanent scar). In the meantime he gave me cream and told me to come back in 2 weeks for the results. The symptoms got worse over the 2 weeks and I had to go to ER at Mount Sinai where they thankfully told me that the doc I went to was a croc and that the doc that saw me knew immediately after allowing me to explain my symptoms that I had pytariasis rosea. She gave me steroids and after a day my condition improved drastically. I went back to collect my results, after which i told the Dr Singh what happened, and again, he laughed, and in a condescending tone told me it was in my head and that the ER doc was wrong and that i had eczema. I cannot begin to explain the stress this man and clinic put me through. I've since then told other friends about my experience, some of whom, have had similar experiences with this man. Don't be a doctor if you have no bedside manner and if you think you know everything before allowing your patients to explain their symptoms. In this case, please quit your day job.
As my mother could not get an appointment with a dermatologist for two months, her GP referred her to this clinic. I was concerned when I read about the massive line up and long waiting times. We arrived at 6:45am and I was 8th in line. You will note that person #1 arrived at 6am. If you are early, then you should be able to park right in front of the clinic. I stood in line for 45 minutes in the -13C temperature while my mom waited in the car. Good thing we arrived early as Dr. Prabhakar saw her at 8:10 and we were out of there after ten minutes. Doctor was very friendly and professional. You will note that at least 25 more people arrived by 7:15 and I am sure they must have been waiting 2 -3 hrs to get looked at. If you are planning to use this place then make the effort to get there super early so you don't wait hours waiting to be served.
The worst Doctors visit of my life! No caring Physician should refer Patients to AvantDerm Clinic, ever! It is Obvious, young doctors got together and came up with the scheme of opening up a cosmetic clinic, that is fully supported by daily opening of clinic to patients without the need of doctors appointments from 8:00am to 11:00 am. From 11:00am to maybe 5:00pm? Cinic specializes Cosmetic enhancement work! The cost of operating the "Cosmetic" clinic seems to be pretty much supported by the fees doctors charge to OHIP for every patient they see from 8:am to 11:00 am. Clinic opens at 8:am, but poor patients in need of urgent medical assistance of a dermatologist line up outside clinic starting from 6:00am I guess. I arrived at 7:00am and there was at least 15 patients ahead of that had been standing there for a while. Together with adult patients there were babies and toddlers awaiting in line. It certainly did not look like a Canadian thing to me. You await up to 3 hours once to gain access inside for a doctor to see you. Once you are seen by an ARROGANT, RUDE DOCTOR, he pretty much disregard your illness and basically tells you to shut up, because he knows best..YOU DO NOT SUPPOSE TO DISCUSS YOUR SYMPTOMS, YOUR SUFFERING OR SAY ANYTHING..PERIOD! HORRIFIC BEDSIDE MANNERS!!!!! BUNCH OF YOUNG DOCTORS WITH AN AIR OF "GRANDIOSITY" THEY JUST WANT TO BE THE COSMETIC DOCTORS OF THE STARS OR THE RICH....THE POOR PATIENTS THAT LINE UP EARLY IN THE MORNING IN THE HOPE OF FINDING A CURE FOR THEIR ILLNESS , ARE JUST A TOOL TO SUPPORT THEIR FANCY OFFICE, THAT PRETTY WELL TARGETS THE WEALTHY AND THE YOUNG IN NEED TO ENHANCE THEIR BEAUTY, I bet those paying patients are treated differently. The average Joe, who has a medical issue is humilliated, get told they have eczema regardless of their medical issue. THESE DOCTOR PREFER A WALK IN CLINIC CONCEPT, BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT SURVIVE ON THEIR OWN IF THEY WERE TO HAVE THEIR OWN MEDICAL PRACTICE...THEY WOULD NEVER BE REFER TO ANYBODY AND THEY WOULD STARVE TO DEATH ON THEIR OWN . ***IT SEEMS THAT HUNDREDTHS OF NEEDY PATIENTS VISIT THIS CLINIC EVERY DAY FROM 8:00AM TO 11:00AM WITH O.H.I.P. PAYING FEES TO THESE DOCTORS WITHOUT DESCRIMINATION. ******STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC......THERE IS ALWAYS A CATCH FOR EASY THINGS....GOOD THINGS DO NOT COME EASY!!!!!!
This is my second visit to the clinic, and by chance I saw the same doctor, Dr. King from 2015. He is friendly, approachable and both times accommodated same day treatment after an initial consultation. His assistant is kind and compassionate. I arrived at 7:30am, and there were already about 15 people in the queue ahead of me. I was finished treatment at 9:40am. I found the front desk team polite and knowledgeable. The majority of complaints here are on a doctor I was lucky enough not to see, and for those who don’t turn up early enough. If you go before 8am, and have two or three hours to spare, it’s the best same day care you can expect.
Was rushed out by the dermatologist. I couldn't even ask my questions because he seemed annoyed and irritated by my attempts to. That's the last vibe you want to feel when trying to better your health...
We all know it takes a month or two of wait time to sceduale a dermatology apt in general so i got reffered to this clinic that has rapid access. So after waiting 2.5 hours at 7:30am outside in the freezing cold (which isnt there fault btw) ... i was happy to go in and talk about two very small skincare issues. The prescreen nuse or whatever you want to call her says we can only address one issue. Im thinking in my head, i just waited almost 3 hours to get in here, it likely would take less than 10.mins to adress both issues and your telling me i can pick one based upon a refferal that was faxed over months ago. We all know in months our skins change our health concerns shift a bit. For god sakes im.now required to go back to my doc, get a second refferal, and come.in again. This to me is absolutely riduculous. Thus 2 stars. I would underatand if the two concerns took an hpur to address, but these days doctors homestly dont care to sympathasize. Sure the service for the one issue was fine. But in terms of patient care..meh, your another number.
Wow, the worst place ever. Useless doctors with 3 hours wait time outside . Stay away
Everything was good in my case, but the doctor called Singh. I waited over two hours for a racist doctor who even didn’t look at my facial rashes. Everything turned into trouble when I was asked “where are you from” by him. Once I answered as I am Chinese, he started to give me very bad attitude. I was referred by my physician doctor with notes on my back and facial rashes. He just refused to give me a treatment and said “I don’t care if you are satisfied with it or not. “ He literally was rude and arrogant to me without any reasons explained. He is the worst doctor in the city.
It's obviously this type of facility of needed, by how busy it is. It's very busy but very efficiently run. No longer do you need to book an appointment to see a dermatologist and have to wait six months for your appointment. Just walk in on the day that is convenient for you. Dr. Singh was very efficient, polite and knowledgeable. My problem was taken care of and I am happy with the results. Highly recommend this clinic. JL
waited almost three hours for 5 minutes with a doctor that referred me to a clinic that has not called me back. I went in to speak to one of the doctors, they wanted to sell me a in-house treatment for a skin condition i have had for years and desperately wanted to get rid of. i rejected their offer, and attempted to send me off as fast as possible. all-in-all do not go here unless you intend to get in-house treatment, and have the ability to waste your morning waiting 2-3 hrs.
Do not get moles removed through the Rapid Access Clinic. I paid $150 out of pocket to get a mole removed from my chin and Dr. Singh left a quarter of the mole on my face. I called to complain and came back in the next day to talk about finishing what he started and was told that they will do absolutely nothing until 6-8 weeks later, then we can "talk about it". They will try to charge me again to completely remove the mole even though that is what I paid for them to do the first time. How is it my fault that he did a choppy job the first time and I should pay again for him to finish what he was supposed to get right the first time? They also won't let me see a different doctor at this clinic even though that is well within my rights as a paying patient.
Nice people & very professional service!
I came here as referred by my physician since I have been getting skin infection on and off and I wanted to see a dermatologist right away. I would assure you that this is literally a rapid clinic. I was with the doctor only for less than 5 minutes. It was Dr. Singh who saw me but I was hoping to see another doctor since I read on reviews he does not do good in helping patients. I have been anxious about what's happening with my skin but I dont' feel like he gave a better treatment for my condition.
So I have been here about five times over the last two years, I honestly have never gotten better advice. Dr Singh honestly I don't get where the hate comes from! I personally enjoyed how understanding and nice you were. You told me everything I wanted to know. For example, I have darker skin and was told by other doctors to freeze my wart (on my face) but thanks to your experience I found out that it can leave a mark. So we ended up going the alternative and that gave excellent results. Then the other times I came for another wart issue you told me it was better to freeze it because it was on the bottom on my foot. It got frozen and did leave a tiny mark but nothing major.( instead of going the expensive route he just gave me what I needed). Im not sure if any of my story flow made any sense but! I just wanna make it clear, this place does an excellent job, dont let people schedule issue and bad experience change your mind. BLAME YOUR DOCTOR FOR NOT FINDING YOU A CLINIC WITH LESS PATIENTS! My doctor who recommended the place made it clear the wait for walk in are crazy and I booked the whole day off for my first visit. So if your own doctor doesn't make this clear, I understand but would you trust a doctor who recommend a place where they don't even know wait times? So key take away, the staff are amazing, the place is nice, PLAN TO WAIT UR IN TORONTO, AT THE ONLY WALK IN CLINIC( shocker ik).
Reception and clinic space are lovely, but cannot make up for Dr. Singh! Hand's down the WORST doctor I've ever had experience with. My child was urgently referred by a children's hospital for an inflamed and potentially infected molluscum contagiousum. After waking up at 5am and driving over an hour, waiting in-line in the bitter cold for an urgent appointment, Dr. Singh did NOT even LOOK at my son's skin other than to glance at it from across the room. He was SO RUDE and snapped at me for trying to ask for his opinion on whether I should be concerned that the redness around the area was expanding, and told me to take my son back to emerg if I thought his skin looked worse. We ended up doing just that where the ER doctor diagnosed my child with dermatitis around the area after a proper examination. This explained the expanding redness. Unbelievable that a dermatologist would send a child back to the ER he was referred from without even examining him, and that he could not properly distinguish dermatitis from cellulitis. This guy cares about money and does NOT care about patients - even a young child! Beyond awful. DO NOT GO! Better to wait months to see a proper dermatologist who cares and can help you.
Terrible wait time without an appointment, Doctor Rushed and medication prescribed wasn't helpful at all. Other patients were waiting outside to enter the room we were in before we had time to pack up and leave. Very Rushed Environment.
The receptionists are rude and full of their power...treating patients like they are doing you a big favour..
This place gets an F-, a negative zero, very unprofessional, very disrespectful. But they want people people to say they are professional and respectful ?
This establishment is an absolute joke!! Everything they say they do in their website is total trash and a big lie! They claim to cater to "people of colour" and the skin issues we face; so I went there with hopes that my skin discolouration issues will be fixed. First of all I waited over 3 hours to see the doctor, and when i eventually saw him he pretty much made fun of me for not wearing sunscreen and told me to accept my skin for what it was and that there was nothing he could do about my skin discolourations. I left feeling down because they over sold on their website and totally under-delivered. I did not even meet with the doctor for more than 8 minutes. Dr. Singh I believe his name was, the absolute worse!! He is the most impatient fellow ever, he is so rude and very patronizing!! Not to mention that he legit knew nothing and he was supposed to be the expert on this subject matter. Don't even waste your time going here, SERIOUSLY! If I could give them a negative star I definitely would!!!!
So, from the front desk with Ashley and Shar, to Dr Singh himself to Jersey the nurse, I could give 10stars! It couldn't be luck that the two times I was there, I had exceptional treatment, each person acted hand picked for great customer service.
So many mixed reviews, but long story short, Dr. Singh is really great. Really direct, factual, and professional. If you're serious about avoiding wait times, get there at 645 like I did to be the first in line. Otherwise the wait looked long, but better than waiting months!
Great staff, great doctors. The best, friendliest, clinic I have been to.
Dermatologists who take clinical approach to patient care and can handle complex medical cases. I returned to this clinic after two years to follow-up on my hormonal cystic acne treatment and I made the right choice. I have a complex medical history and saw Dr. Lansang who gave me expert advice and helped me weigh pros and cons of a medication choice in context of health risks. She took the time to educate me about a treatment I didn't know much about or really understand. I also appreciate that she understood the impacts of having acne in your 40s so I didn't feel I had to prove how bad it has been. My family doctor appreciates how AvantDerm supports patients by monitoring important bloodwork rather than kicking it back to the family doctor who may not have capacity to follow the serology. Even if this medication doesn't work for me, I know Dr. Lansang will help me navigate other options. I don't have any anxiety about trying different things to try to clear up my skin. I had booked an appointment because the wait time to get a spot was reasonable and totally worth it. But in a crunch, I would be happy to line up early for the Rapid Access Clinic to get this level of medical derm care. Support staff also professional and helpful so the experience was positive at every step. I am relieved too because it is very hard to find Dermatologists who have a reputable clinical medical practice vs cosmetic driven services. Makes me more confident to choose AvantDerm for cosmetic procedures when I want those services.
Avant Derm is a FANTASTIC clinic. My family doc suggested I get something checked out by a dermatologist and recommended the Avant Derm's Rapid Access Clinic. I took half a day off work expecting to be there for hours (fair given it is based on a first come first serve basis). Needless to say I was pleasantly shocked by the efficiency of this office. The staff at the front desk and nurse Jersey were extremely organized and pleasant to deal with. They started registering patients earlier than the 730 AM start time and the first patient was seen and assessed by the doctor before 8AM. I was seen by Dr Singh in the room then was taken to have the biopsy. I was in and out in less than an hour and was able to see a dermatologist in less than 24 hours of obtaining my referral. Avant Derm should be considered the gold standard in the healthcare field. Giving patients an opportunity to get things checked out by a dermatologist in record time is a game changer. Even if you end up having to wait a few hours, it's better than waiting weeks or months. Thank you for providing patients with this opportunity.
My family physcian has referred me to this clinic. I was twice seen by Dr. Davindra Singh. First time, he didn't even give me three minutes. Though, I wanted to explain more of my problem. I have an acne problem for more than twenty five years on and off. Second time, when he saw me, I told him that I was coming from far; one hour drive and it took me a long time to see him; waiting time at the clinic too. He gave me less than five minutes. This doctor told me to keep on using ointment, the same one that my physcian recommended. Dr Davindra Singh is a specialist, but he wanted to get rid of me as fast as he can, though he was suppose to find the problem of my acne and should have started a medication and also should have told me the reasons for my acne. But to the contrary, he just asked only one question "is it on your chest too" and I replied "yes". That was it. He told me keep on using ointment. On the top of my disappointment, he started telling me to get his services for skin tags on my face and he wanted me to pay four hundred dollars for this service. Because it's not covered by OHIP. I wanted to talk about my actual problem. I wanted to speak about my acne, but he wasn't interested. I think this clinic is busy for private stuff. Meaning; not paid by OHIP.
This place is so much better than reviewers give it credit for. Yeah you wait but good luck getting in somewhere else faster. The staff are nice and facilities are clean! Show up early and you will likely be seen in an hour or two!
Waited three hours without even seeing the doctor. Every time I would get up to leave I would be told that I was next in line. Horrible experience, unsympathetic staff. Would highly suggest any other clinic
Thankfully I had read the reviews - thank you, Pudloo - so I was prepared to get there early. I arrived at 6:15 and was second in line. We waited until 7:15 - at this point there were 8 of us - and were then brought inside and registered - remember you MUST have a referral and a health card and a cell phone so they can text you! If you are given a referral, give it a few days to make sure they have it in their system. They get a LOT and my doctor recommended three days to be sure. Doesn't hurt to phone and confirm to save yourself a trip - I saw two people in half an hour turned away because it hadn't been received or processed yet. Once the paperwork was done, we were seated inside and I was called a few minutes after 8:00. But only about 8 people are allowed to sit and wait at once after registering, so anyone after has to wait outside to be texted. I was biopsied and on my way before 8:30, at which point the line was quite long on the sidewalk. That being said, the reception staff were kind, organized and attentive, and Dr Kim and Jersey were adorable. I give my visit a 10/10 and would highly recommend. But do your homework and be there 7:15 tops for the best experience.
Wow this doctor was so unprofessional. Was wearing ripped jeans and a khaki shirt. Can see his boxers. Polite but can not be taken seriously. After months of waiting and pain... this is not what I needed
Reading previous comments and knowing that the wait might be long I arrived at 7:15 and there were already about 15 people waiting in front of me. The doors were opened before 8am, a nice surprise. I was impressed by how fast the receptionists got through everyone. All the staff there were super kind and professional. I only waited about an hour. The Dr I saw, also super nice and explained everything. I didn't feel rushed. They were able to do my procedure that day! I felt so comfortable there and had confidence in the nurse as well as the Dr. I would highly recommend this clinic! Even if you have to wait several hours, it is totally worth it!
Every time I call them to book an appointment, I'm in the queue position 1, and after a min of waiting, I'll get transferred to the voice mail. If you don't have enough receptionist, then hire more people. Not picking up your phone for appointments is the rudest and the most uneducated way to treat people.
