I’m 2 weeks out post rhinoplasty with Dr Mao, and I could not be more thrilled with the results. I wanted this procedure for over 20 years, and I’m so glad that I was finally ready to go forward with it with him. He answered all of my questions and reassured me with my anxieties from start to finish through the process. The office staff has been communicative and responsive both pre and post procedure. I love that the results are subtle enough that I still look like myself (no one would know that I had a procedure), yet all of the things that I didn’t love about my nose have been corrected. I have very little swelling and I feel great. I would recommend Dr Mao to anyone considering this procedure, he’s truly a skilled and gifted surgeon who’s work and results have far surpassed my expectations!

As a healthcare professional and a male I was very hesitant to undergo a rhinoplasty/septoplasty. My experience getting Botox with Dr. Mao was fantastic from start to finish. The friendly and knowledgeable staff got me a convenient appointment and made me feel comfortable right away. Dr Mao asked me what my desired outcome was and delivered exactly that. I wanted to get rid of my crows feet and forehead lines. His assistant even offered numbing cream (I declined). The procedure was super quick and virtually painless (the needles are so small it was honestly just a pinch). I was able to see some results within a couple of days and full results after a week — I could not be happier! My forehead is completely smooth and my crows feet are gone. My face is not frozen, it looks super natural and more youthful. I highly recommend seeing Dr Mao. He’s polite, professional and wonderful at what he does.

I am so grateful for the Rhinoplasty Revision I had with Dr Mao. Initially I wanted Dr Mao to perform the original surgery after I broke my nose in 2 places. However at that time, even though I had out of network benefits for the inside of my nose, the cosmetic part was not covered. The cost of the 30 percent of the inside of the nose and the 100 percent cost of the outside was very significant and led me to to another surgeon. Unfortunately, my results were awful from both a breathing perspective and an aesthetic perspective as well. My nose was crooked with a new bump, a small calcium spur on the outside of my bridge, the tip was turned down and wider than you could imagine. I cried a lot to say the least and even dropped off of social media for a while too. After 18 months of the other surgeon telling me I was swollen, kept injecting my nose with a steroid and there was really surgically nothing he could do, I called Dr Mao’s office and scheduled an appointment. I apologized to Dr Mao for not seeing from the beginning and the only reason was due to the extra 30 percent I would have had to pay from the insurance. He could have not been more gracious about it. I spent more than 1 1/2 hours there taking photos and see potentially how my nose would potentially look through digital imaging. Dr Mao asked me to get the surgical notes from the previous Physician. It took the Physician almost to the day before my surgery to send the notes. I guess he didn’t want to release his disaster. The day before my surgery Dr Mao called me to let me know that previous doctor put an implant in my nose that I had no idea about. Because of this, the surgery was going to be much more difficult. He gave me 3 scenarios of what may happen during the surgery and he would make the decision once he opened it up. Dr Mao told me he would do his best. I trusted him. The surgery took longer than expected because of the mess left by the previous physician but my result is incredible. I had the surgery April 18, 2019 (one tiny bruise) and 4 months later I look better than I have in years. If you are thinking about a Revision Rhinoplasty do not hesitate and see Dr. Mao! I am not sure what is going on in Dr. Mao's office but I had an appointment back in June and his office has now called me to reschedule 3 times and NOW I had an appointment coming up on October 11 for 3PM and I am told for the 3rd time he has to change the time of my appointment. I am a very patient person, but after having 4 appointments and not being able to complete one of them due to the constant reschedule is not what I call good customer relations. I would not recommend calling this office for an appointment. You can find another office more accomodating

I had my first filler September 2020 from Dr. Mao. He did an excellent job and I love the results. Everyone is polite and professional. Dr. Mao was great during the procedure making me feel comfortable as he knew I was nervous it was my first time. I was shocked at the result and will be coming back here. Dr. Mao and Dr. Restifo are the two top doctors in their field, especially with procedures that can have horrible results if not properly done you should always find the most highly trained in the field and it's definitely these two doctors. Do Not let just anyone do procedures especially for your face! I have been a nurse for 15yrs and would never go to a Spa or Salon for anything except a facial. These are two highly educated/trained doctors in their field I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't seek out the best for their appearance. I'm not sure if people go to Spas because there is a price difference but remember this: You get what you pay for! You want the best then use the best!

I recently suffered a facial trauma that resulted in a broken nose in two places. While the ER doctor assured me that it would heal on it's own, I, thankfully, decided to get a second opinion. Dr. Mao looked at my x-rays and accommodated me the following day for a consultation. He was thorough in his examination and in explaining the options. He recommended surgery to adjust the bone and scheduled it within a week. Now 6 weeks post, I'm incredibly happy with the results. While, my procedure likely had more to do with function vs. cosmetic, I would recommend him in a heartbeat. My nose is back in place and no one would ever know that it was broken. It's perfect!

He did a wonderful job using the characteristics from the pictures I brought to fit my face and profile. Dr. Mao turned back the hands of time by 10-15 years-seriously. And I look better than I ever have, even in my youth. Over the last few months, Dr. Mao performed multiple procedures including temple implants( never heard of those but they were transformative), buccal fat removal, upper bleph a revision rhinoplasty and finally, in a separate surgery, a deep plane facelift with neck lift. I almost have a new face! haha! My incisions are very well placed and inconspicuous as possible, they are healing very nicely with no complications or pain. Dr. Mao performed a rhinoplasty revision a little over two months ago, and although I'm still in the healing process, I am happy thus far with my results! I've wanted a nose job for so long, probably 15+ years and could never give my full commitment to any of the surgeons who I had met with before, until I met Dr. Mao! I found him on realself.com and almost immediately was sold just by looking at his website's before and after photos. My experience with Dr. Mao was very professional. My first appointment was held via Facetime due to "COVID protocols". We spoke about why I wanted a nose job, and what features I like about my current nose. Fast forward a month I had my first consultation in person, where he took pictures of my nose and went over what the procedure would be like. Also, using a software to give me an idea of what my nose would look like after surgery. Six weeks after my surgery and I am healing up nicely. Recovery time, swelling, and bruising was much less than I expected. I now have the nose I always wanted and I credit Dr. Mao and his staff for making that all possible. If you are interested in rhinoplasty I recommend speaking to Dr. Mao. 10/10

Sharing my terrific experience with Dr Mao. I recently had a deep plane face and brow lift with Dr Mao and I'm so thrilled with the results. I look exactly the way I did when I was younger! Or, admittedly even better! I am 44 years old and would have to go back to my late 20's to find a picture of myself that matches how youthful I look now. Dr Mao gave me exactly what I wanted, and even more. I had an easy surgery, very easy recovery and overall a great experience. I am now a year out, and I will unfortunately need a revision to do another septoplasty (that seemingly was never done in the first place!). I wasn’t given anything; surgeons notes, how the surgery went, etc. and somehow, I ended up slipping through the cracks and did not have the appropriate follow ups after surgery. They made it seem like it was my fault. I also paid a very pretty penny for all of this to be done, and unfortunately, will have to pay even more to have everything done again. I would avoid this surgeon if you can.

I would recommend John mao highly for anyone considering plastic surgery. He doesn’t use general anesthesia which is less trama to the body. He is very gifted in his skills and very detailed. I don’t often do reviews, but this was my second facelift and I had something to compare it to. In the past I’ve gone for fillers and Botox, and after going to dr mao, realized how overcharged I was. I recommend anyone going for just fillers and such to compare as his prices are by far better than anything else I’ve paid in the past. Great experience!!!!
