I first had a consultation with Dr Momtazi while I was in the hospital for an extended period. I had an infection in my left leg where I have a metal knee and rod from bone cancer 15 years prior. Dr. Momtazi and his team came up with a plan to add a muscle flap from my back to my leg. Over the next month and a half Dr. Momtazi and his team would check on me daily to make sure the muscle flap was healing properly. It has now been over 6 months and I am able to walk and am back at work infection free.

Exceptional Explant I met with Dr. Momtazi when researching my options for removing my recalled textured breast implants (I had placed 12 years ago, post mastectomy). I was looking for someone to remove my implants and entire capsule in one (capsulectomy or enboc), as well as an aesthetic flat closure (not leaving excess skin after implant removal). The first Dr. in Ottawa I met with not only dismissed my concerns of BII and BIA-ALCL, stated that an en-bloc would not be done and would not leave me flat but would need a second procedure. Before wasting my time (or any other Drs); I called Mr Momtazi’s office first to inquire about en-bloc implant removal. Jessica was amazing! She was patient and welcoming, confirming that Dr. Momtazi can remove the entire capsule with the implant and answered all my questions. Dr. Momtazi is exceptional. Not only does he do exceptional work, but his bedside manner is second to none. He is professional and thorough, listening to my concerns and assuring me he would do his best do all I asked (including providing me photos of the capsule and implant removal during surgery). He also did an exceptional job of giving me exactly what I was looking for in regards to esthetic flat closure. His after care and follow-up both in person and over the phone were exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Momtazi for any surgical procedure.

I am very happy to write about my experience with Dr. Momtazi. I had my mastectomy a few years back and wasn’t in any hurry to have more surgery. I met a patient of Dr. Momtazi and she was kind enough to share her experience, so I decided to look into DIEP flap surgery. I made an appointment and see if this could be a viable option, and this is when I started considering it for me. I felt I was on the right track after my first appointment. Dr. Momtazi is extremely thorough, he will answer your many, many questions, he is very personable and puts you at ease immediately. His confidence and experience gave me the confidence to finally make the decision to consider it, and then finally to have this surgery. The results exceeded my expectations and have affected me positively both emotionally and physically. Emotionally: I got so used to being flat on one side and tried not to focus on it, but deep inside I was not happy. I just didn’t know what to do about it, so I put those feelings on a shelf and just lived with it. The daily reminder is now gone, I’ve finally went around a corner and can move on. This surgery has given me freedom in many ways. Physically: not having to think of what or how to dress, went back to pre- mastectomy days and now can dress and shop for whatever I’d like. This cannot be underestimated. I didn’t realize how much energy and time I previously put into what and how to wear clothes! After your surgery, your care does not stop. Dr. Momtazi follows your healing process very closely and supports and discusses how much time you may need before you return to work. I took off enough time to heal, and went back slowly because my job can be very physical. There was never that stress of feeling rushed. All in all, my experience exceeded my expectations of what to expect going through this type of surgery. I would and have recommended Dr. Momtazi for this surgery to other women considering their options. He will become your partner from your first appointment until your healing process is done. One last note, his administrative assistant Jessica Tomas is amazing. She is so personable, you never feel rushed and she will answer your many, many questions as well. What a team!

Dr. Momtazi made an uncomfortable time in my life much easier with his kind manner and excellent work. I came to his office on referral from Dr. Tsoulis as melanoma was found on my face. Dr. Momtazi surgically removed the melanoma and some surrounding tissue with precision. With all of the cancer cells removed and then sent for further testing, I am free from the cancer. I was quite nervous of the issue of scaring as the surgery is right out in the open on my face but Dr. Momtazi has made the incision perfectly along a natural line (smile line) and it is blending in very well. I highly recommend Dr. Momtazi if in need of any reconstructive surgery. He exhibits excellent standards both as a surgeon and in his friendly and kind manner. He is willing to explain the process step by step which helps to ease the burden of needing to go through a surgical procedure such as this. I am fortunate to have been referred to such a caring and skilled surgeon.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer is very scary. Making the decision to have a double mastectomy can be traumatic, and then having to decide on reconstruction, is not an easy process. Having that first meeting with Dr. Momtazi immediately took away some of that anxiety. He took the time to answer all of my questions, explained every procedure and possible outcomes, and helped me to make an informed, educated decision that was the best for me (Diep Flap). I never felt pressured, and honestly believed whole-heartedly in his high level of skill and precision. His positive attitude and assurance played an important part in my recovery and confidence. Dr. Momtazi performed two needle aponeurotomy to alleviate my dupuytren's contracture on my little finger of my left hand and my ring finger of my right hand. Both were successful procedures. It took little more than 30 minutes including the freezing, no sutures and within 48 hours I could use my hand for almost all functions. In two weeks my hand was fully functional. My biggest concern was being able to lie my hand flat and be able to type and play the piano without my crooked fingers getting in the way. I am completely satisfied with the work Dr. Momtazi did and will surely see him again when my other fingers begin to curve in.

This is widely known at The Ottawa Hospital and beyond, where his name is consistently accompanied by the adjectives "amazing", "compassionate" and "perfectionist". Dr. Momtazi is held in high esteem by his colleagues and patients, who have repeatedly told me how fortunate I am to be a patient of his. I met Dr. Momtazi following a breast cancer diagnosis six weeks ago. He was brought in by my surgical oncologist to perform immediate reconstruction following a bilateral mastectomy. Dr. Momtazi put me at ease the moment he walked into the room for my consultation. He exudes confidence and compassion, has exceptional communication skills and strives for perfection. Beyond his deep expertise, Dr. Momtazi genuinely cares about his patients. He visited me immediately prior to surgery to reassure me. I felt scared and alone in the pre-op area, having been moved from unit to unit throughout the hospital, and knowing that I would be undergoing major surgery imminently. He was incredibly kind and compassionate and even found a way to inject humour into a very stressful situation (pointing out that the Sharpie marker he was using to mark me up with pre-surgery was, indeed, permanent). He even wanted to wheel me into the operating room himself -- a lighthearted battle he lost in the friendliest of ways to the nursing staff, who he clearly has an excellent rapport with. I am now just two weeks post-surgery and am incredibly pleased with the result. I experienced minimal pain following major surgery, and the reconstruction exceeded my expectations. The takeaway is to believe the hype in all of the 5-star reviews for Dr. Momtazi. He truly is the best.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a mastectomy as part of my treatment plan. In 2017 I saw a presentation by Dr. Momtazi at BRA Day and decided that DIEP Flap reconstruction was a viable reconstruction option for me. Dr Momtazi’s presentation was informative and understandable, but more importantly, Dr Momtazi was kind and compassionate in talking about the surgery and the emotional impact a mastectomy and possible reconstruction has on breast cancer patients. I scheduled an initial consult with him in 2018 and had the reconstruction surgery in 2019, followed by phase 2 (balancing of the real breast with the reconstruction) in 2021. Through my 2.5 year journey through this, Dr. Momtazi and his team have been exceptionally professional, kind, compassionate, caring and thoughtful. Both surgery outcomes have exceeded my expectations - 7 years after my cancer diagnosis, I feel like I have finally and thoroughly put it in the past. This is due to the level of care I received as a patient. Dr Momtazi is a really kind person - he takes time with his patients and is attentive to the emotional impact of the surgery as well as the physical outcome. He treats people, not patients, and he understands the heaviness of the cancer layer in this surgery. He made sure I was informed, and understood and was comfortable with process and decisions and didn’t hesitate to review and repeat as often as necessary to ensure my own peace of mind. From the beginning he was very personable and attentive, and ensured that I had all the information that I needed prior to proceeding. I found that he and his staff were incredibly supportive during a very difficult time. I had to deal with a certain amount of feeling that wanting to get breast reconstruction was vain. However, I needed to get it to be able to go on with my life as something other than "The Cancer Survivor". He seemed to understand and support me. All the care he gave me was outstanding. I had complications. I got a follow on infection from being in the hospital. Thus, I required much more of his time than most. He was there for me and he was as concerned as I was about having it all work out for the best. When I got discouraged and tired, he bounced in and said NO we will persevere and it will all work out. It has. I am still on the end of this journey and have a little bit more to go but he has been with me all the way and has cared about a good result for me as anyone.

I moved here from BC and my plastic surgeon in Vancouver referred me to Dr. Momtazi. I have had breast cancer twice. The first time I received a lumpectomy and the second time a mastectomy. I followed up with reconstructive surgery with a breast implant. I was never very happy with the implant and when I saw Dr. Momtazi, I told him my concerns and he was very empathetic. The Dr. suggested that I start over again with a Diep flap. I was very happy to hear he could perform this surgery as my previous surgeon could not. Dr. Momtazi was very informative and knowledgeable and took ample time to explain the procedure to me. Furthermore, much to my surprise, he gave me his cell number to text or call him if I had any other concerns or questions. I have never had any doctor provide a cell phone number to me. Just before the procedure, I did have further questions and I texted Dr. Momtazi. He promptly called me in less than 15 minutes and answered my questions and addressed my concerns. Dr. Momtazi was amazing throughout this process, very professional. Following the procedure, I developed a complication where part of the skin died, and large holes began to appear along part of my incision. I was very worried and very scared. Again, I texted the Dr. and he immediately contacted me and within days I was back at the hospital and the Dr. fixed the area of concern. The area is now very well healed, and I am very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend Dr. Momtazi, you will be in great hands with this very attentive and amazing surgeon. I recently had DIEP flap breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy and I could not be happier with this decision and outcome. Dr. Momtazi was straightforward in offering the options but didn’t try to persuade me one way or another. He was happy to answer all my questions and those of my family (at my request). I had complete confidence in his skill, and I’m very pleased with the results. He has been open and very supportive in all follow-up appointments. He has outstanding communication skills. If DIEP flap surgery is an option for you it is well worth consideration. The post-op course was easier than I expected (just my experience, of course), and I did this at age 70! I’m so glad I did this - thank you Dr. Momtazi! I should also mention that his staff was really helpful and understanding as well, and very quick with scheduling (thank you Jessica!).

I met Dr. Momtazi last year when I had a recurrent breast cancer. Unfortunately I had to have a mastectomy but luckily I was referred to Dr. Momtazi for the reconstruction part of my journey. He had to place a tissue expander after the mastectomy and a breast implant a year later. This was my second surgery with him and he is by far one of the best surgeons I’ve had. My case was very challenging but he tackled it with highly developed skills and did an amazing job. He truly is a perfectionist.

Dr. Moein Momtazi was recommended to me by a friend who was working in the Nursing Department at the General and had seen his work first hand. She told me he was positive and uplifting and truly believed in the power of Plastic Surgery to help improve patients lives. After having treatment for advanced breast cancer I was left with one hanging oversized right breast that was very uncomfortable for me emotionally and physically. I felt like a freak and I looked like a freak. I had previously been given vague negatives by my specialists at my request for various kinds of right breast surgery. I was told that I might qualify for a long waiting list and after a period of so many years might be re-considered for some surgical fix on the right side. I requested Dr. Momtazi and I believe my General Surgeon also put in a request as a high need for me. Within days of my first surgery, I was amazed when the lovely receptionist, Jessica called me to set up a meet and plan for future surgery with Dr. Momtazi. To make a long story short, I put my body in his hands and I had a major right sided breast reduction with uplift. At all times I felt the medical care was superior to anything else I have ever had. I was confident with this Doctor and his medical team from the General Hospital. I was very comfortable prior and after surgery and had weekly check up with the Doctor and good post op instructions. I am looking forward to a future tummy tuck and left breast reconstruction. Oh, now I feel like Cinderella, not a freak. I enjoy buying little clothing items that I could never wear before. My experience with Dr. Momtazi was excellent. He is very kind and personable, very attentive and patient. Dr. Momtazi exudes confidence and enthusiasm which puts you at ease as soon as you meet him. I was referred to Dr. Momtazi (thankfully!) in December 2020 because I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2020. My initial plan was to have a bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy followed by immediate reconstruction with implants. That was until I met Dr. Momtazi and he informed me of the DIEP procedure. He indicated that I would be a really good candidate for this procedure and explained in depth the advantages of this procedure. I was immediately intrigued and after much consideration I opted for the DIEP surgery. I could not have been MORE PLEASED with the results. His superior skills far exceeded my expectations and my recovery was remarkable. Only days after the surgery my incisions looked like pencil marks and I was back at work full time 11 days after the surgery. That is a true testament to Dr. Momtazi's superior skills. Not only are Dr. Momtazi's skills as a surgeon remarkable but his conduct as a person is outstanding. He genuinely cares and gives of his time generously. He always responds to my call and emails personally the same day that I contact him. He is very approachable and respectful with a great bedside manner. I felt completely at ease before, during and after the surgery very much in part to the tremendous care that I received from Dr. Momtazi and his staff. In the face of a cancer diagnosis, especially during COVID-19 where you are expected to face the entire ordeal alone this could not have been more important to my emotional and physical recovery.
