I went to Dr. Boyton for a breast augmentation. Till this day it has been one of my worst regrets. I suffer from constant pain in my right breast even a year after the surgery and when I would bring my concerns up to Dr. Boyton he would belittle me and act as if my questions offended him. Not only do I suffer constant pain, but my breast are also uneven and look deformed. Again my concerns with this issue was met with an aggressive attitude from Dr. Boyton and a dismissive "That's normal" remark. I am now speaking with another surgeon to correct all the mistakes made by Dr. Boyton. Honestly you are nothing more than a check to this man. If you are looking for good results and a doctor with any kind of compassion or professionalism I'd highly recommend that you find another surgeon.

Thank you for reading. RealSelf was helpful in my initial search last year, and it's great to give back with my own review of the surgeon I chose for my work: Dr. James Boynton of Houston, TX. Summary: The short review is that Dr Boynton and Boynton Plastic Surgery are fantastic. I would bring my own mother to only one cosmetic surgeon in the world, and it is Boynton. My Journey: Through a lot of work, I lost about 200 pounds without bariatric surgery. Due to my weight loss I identified several opportunities for cosmetic surgery: gynecomastia (male breast enlargement), significant skin and some trapped fat around my belly and sides, and a very fatty mons. I met with several surgeons in the Houston area, but my consultation with Dr Boynton was the most impressive. In that first meeting, we not only got to know each other as people, but he also gave me a reasonable idea of how he would proceed with my particular goals and issues in mind. I liked that. I could also tell that Dr. Boynton takes a thoughtful, safety-oriented approach to his work- rather than many surgeons who promised to do it all in one procedure, Boynton identified my need to take a more long-term, multistage approach. I felt safe and well cared for from day one. My first procedure was in April and consisted of gynecomastia surgery with lipo on my flanks. The procedure itself went well, and I felt supported and cared for through the whole process. With Boynton, the surgery itself is only one step in the healing process, and the care and extreme attention to detail that was evident pre-surgery continued throughout my many follow-up consultations long after the procedure. I believe my healing and my final results have been improved by the excellent aftercare I received. My biggest procedure came in July and consisted of an abdominoplasty and monsplasty with liposuction on my flanks. I'm currently healing from this, and as before, Boynton and his excellent staff have supported me, answered my questions, and coached me through a successful recovery so far. In the future, I may need some follow-up procedures and I would not dream of going anywhere else. Dr Boynton's results, demeanor, and the excellent service at Boynton Plastic Surgery have won a loyal customer for life. Pros: - Dr Boynton himself is a unique and talented individual. His friendly, easy-going demeanor belies a true gift in finding the optimal solution to any cosmetic problem. His bedside manner and kindness cannot be beat, and he genuinely cares about me, my goals, and my results. I have no doubt that he is committed to my satisfaction. That's very important as anyone who is a veteran of these procedures could tell you. - A great staff is as important as the surgeon himself, and Boynton's staff has exceeded my expectations at every turn. Kaitlin is my patient coordinator and Sofia is my nurse and they've been helpful and friendly throughout my procedures and aftercare. I have asked a million questions and his staff has shown patience and extensive knowledge in their responses. I am extremely grateful to them! Cons: -None. If anything negative came up with my healing or any third-party issues arose, Boynton and his staff dealt with it promptly as a caring and diligent advocate for my healing. I have for sometime now nervously contemplated looking into taking a dip in the fountain of youth. I walked into Dr. Boynton's office at the backend of October 2018 to make an appointment for the beginning of November 2018 and was greeted by a beautiful woman at the front counter who stated she was the doctor's nurse. She helped me, but I was quite nervous when I left that day anyway. On the day of my appointment, I met several people - all beautiful - who made me feel so comfortable. They answered all my questions before and after my meeting with Dr. Boynton, who is a young, highly-confident man with a very warm and caring bedside manner. We talked at length - I didn't feel rushed at all. I feel he answered all my questions fully and honestly. Thereafter, I finished my visit with the patient coordinator who reviewed the cost of my procedure(s) with me. She helped me solidify a date for my surgery and thoroughly explained all costs. I have taken care of the preliminary financial responsibility, so I'm all set. I look forward to my surgery date.

Had an appt for a lower blepharoplasty consultation. This yuppie sob wanted to charge me $5600! The best part about our 1 on 1 talk is that he yawned 3 times! Lol! Can’t make it up! And he didn’t even apologize, not once!!!! Needless to say took my business elsewhere. Proceed with caution.

This is the worst plastic surgeon. I went with him when he was partnered with another group. I get offended every time he sends me a card to come back. I admit, I went to a few surgeons who stated flat out - "you need a tummy tuck", he recommended a lipo and then come back for tummy tuck. Well, I learned all a lipo does before a tummy tuck is create scare tissue. In my case, I had sheets of scare tissue and he was the only one that worked on me. I knew something was wrong after the surgery and he act as he did not care. Please do your research. I only went with him because his partners had great credentials. Mistake on my part

I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Boynton for scar revision surgery, and specifically made the appointment because this procedure was a) listed on his website b) had a laser, also listed on his site, I know to be helpful following a procedure to reduce the appearance of scars. While he was very kind, and was very upfront about his ability to help my situation, even offered a recommendation of someone who could help me... I'm upset I wasted my time and money for a consultation when I could have been told when I called to make the appointment that he "is not a keloid specialist" and not able to help. I left feeling very defeated after that consultation. I also think they need a website update if they don't have easy access to the laser they promote on it (which is what I was told during my appointment).

I happen to be the type of person who avoids Doc's at all cost, with the exception of extreme emergencies. Had the privilege of meeting Dr Boynton, about a year ago, thinking to self. If i ever did decide to invest in a Breast lift & reduction. He is the one. So after a very sweet consultation, with Mavy, Dr. Boynton, & Gina. The fun began, went in for surgery early on a Tuesday morning, was home by 2:30, started antibiotics, & tylenol (never took pain medication). Simply was not necessary. Oh, you are aware you have had surgery, but at the same time quite mobile. As far as being happy, for this decision, a little more then a week later, can honestly say very HAPPY! Dr Boynton is a pure artist, his work is impressive.

My experience with Dr. Boynton and his staff have been absolutely wonderful! I have worked with hundreds of doctors over my 32 year nursing career and I can say without hesitation that Dr. Boynton rates #1 on my list of all time faves. I was pretty nervous seeking a plastic surgery consult. After losing 140 lbs, I was pretty embarrassed how my old saggy body was looking. Gina, Dana and Mavi put me at ease immediately and set the tone for a very pleasant and professional experience. Dr. Boynton made a special effort to meet me and talk with me, get to know me first, before I had to do the naked in front of a stranger thing. I left my first appointment so reassured and comfortable that it was easy to make the decision to proceed with phase one of my total body makeover. Dr. Boynton is a techical perfectionist with an artist's eye, just what you want in a plastic surgeon! He was the first surgeon in Houston to use the drug Experel to minimize post operative pain, and I was a happy recipient of this new medication. He stays current with the cutting edge advances in the industry but doesn't try new things just because they are trendy. I know this because of the conversations we have had (remember I'm the RN patient who wants to know every technical detail). I have now recovered from phase one and the results are truly amazing. People who have not seen me in several years are absolutely amazed at the transformation. When small issues arose during my recovery, they were addressed promptly and personally by Dr. Boynton (he actually returns calls on weekends)! I have referred, without hesitation, a close relative and friend who both have had excellent care and a positive experience with Dr. Boynton and his staff. Wonderful results for TMJ. I recently began struggling with TMJ. Unfortunately, not even a mouthguard helped. However, Dr. Boynton suggested Botox injections into my jaw. I called and sent email describing my case, however I was asked to go for the consultation with Dr Boynton. I was told it will take one hour, and I need to pay $100.00 in advanced. So, I did. The consultation took about 15 minutes at most with conclusion that my case is not related to the doctor specialty. Regardless of the overacted fake care shown there, I felt scammed in time and money.

I had been dealing with a very sore red mark on my pectoral for a number of days. Through a random conversation Dr. Boynton had me send him a picture. After reviewing the picture he called me to tell me that I needed to come to his office on a Friday afternoon for him to see it in person. Due to my current location I was not able to get there until 6:30 on Friday evening, Dr. Boynton kept back staff and stayed late until I arrived. I was very fortunate that he not only suggested I come to his office but also kept staff late. After reviewing in person he decided to perform a quick localized surgery, it turned out that I had an infection that was spreading and had already made a fairly significant impact. I was going to be traveling that weekend and there was no doubt that I would have ended up in bad shape, away from home had it not been taken care of on Friday evening. I would take the opporunity to use Dr. Boynton any chance I get in the future, he is a very caring and skilled doctor.

So, get ready! Because this review will have so many positive adjectives within it that by the end you will think I'm exaggerating! But not so fast! All you need to do is meet Dr. Boynton and his phenominal staff and you will understand immediately. I had visited three other plastic surgeons for consultation in my quest to find the "perfect" surgeon to perform my breast reduction (something I've wanted and needed for a very long time). Unfortunately, I had not felt confident or at ease with the other surgeons. As a nurse, I tend to over-research everything, but it pays off in the end. My initial consultation with Dr. Boynton lasted well over an hour. He scored his first points with me when upon walking in the room, he asked about me, my family, my goals and even my fears regarding the surgery. Wow! I think I made up my mind fairly quickly that I had found THE surgeon at that point. Now, I don't decide to have a drastic procedure like this based solely on a smile or even bedside manner....that would be ridiculous, but let me tell you that it makes all the difference in the world. His office consultation room was like sitting in your own living room with a flat screen that you can access, via touch, to look at before and after pictures of the procedure(s) in which you are interested. From his caring patient coordinator, Gina, to his knowledgable and sweet nurse Erica, to his receptionist, Maria, Dr. Boynton has chosen an ideal team to walk you through everything you need to know from the procedure (pre and post-op) to the cost and payment questions. Now, down to the nitty-gritty....the actual procedure. Dr. Boynton was a true artist in the way that he sculpted my body and reconstructed my breasts. They were honest with me about the pain involved, which was minimal, scarring (which actually is also minimal) as well as what to expect at every step in the process. Dr. Boynton is so very good at what he does, but he's more than that. He's a caring, concerned and compassionate physician...the three "Cs" that a patient should require in any healthcare professional. And he listens. He listens to your silly concerns and answers even the most ridiculous questions. And he listens to you when you talk about your family. Since the first contact with Dr. Boynton and his staff, I was very confident. After the decision to have the surgery, I had tons of questions: all of them were answered by Dr. Boynton and Gina (patient coordinator) at the first appointment. And they all made me feel comfortable to call back at any time.
