As you can see it reaches an feddbacks average is average, neither too high nor too low, and it's founded on a high number of opinions, so we may conclude that the valuation is very reliable. If many people have bothered to rate when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Plastic Surgery is classified in the category of University hospital.
A top rate hospital. They have always taken great care of me and my family. The only issue would be with going to emergency for less serious issues (but emergencies none the less). The issue with using this emergency room is that Sunnybrook is also a major trauma centre, so if there is a serious accident or other serious incidents, you will often find yourself bumped down the triage ladder (usually rightfully so). This is not an indictment of the hospital but a reality of its use of a major trauma centre.
My son was.referred here for his eye pressure. Dr. P. Kertes & associate were able to find out what was causing the pressure in his eye within his first visit. Surgery was booked and his retina was reattached. My son was able to see peripheral again. The staff here are very professional, friendly and helpful. Amazing hospital????
Thanks to Keith
My name is Aleena, I gave birth at Sunnybrook hospital in August 2018. My daughter was born premature. We have been in the NICU since August. I would like to just take a minute and Thank you everyone in the NICU for being SUPER nice to me and my family. I want to specailly thank Pauline, Michelle, Rita and Lisa for being the BEST nurses ever. And not to forget about the social worke Blaire. Blaire is one of the best social worker i have ever met. Not only these people take care of your medical issues but emotional as well. They go above and beyond to make sure you and your family are okay. I will never ever forget these people, memories and this great hospital. Everyone is really helpful here. They treat you with great respect. Thann you soo much for doing what you guys are doing. This hospital specially NICU organizes such great things for moms and dads. They have mom to mom lunches every week, arts and crafts nights once a month and dad's night once a month. These little things makes such a good experience to be here. It is not easy to be here for soo long but they have made things so easy and fun for everyone here.I love this hospital and I love these people. Thank you so very much.
Very bad experience. Two years ago, I had a severe hepatitis auto immune and I spent a whole night in the hallway left on my own. At 2am a nurse refused to do the blood test required by the resident. I don't want to imagine how your patients are treated in the middle of this pandemic.
I've been coming here for about 5 years. I'm not sure what's changed, maybe short staff? I've come for similar health issues in the past it's usually about a 3 hour wait. I've currently been here for 9 hours. All that has been done in 9 hours is having my blood taken. What's the point of coming here if you are having immediate health issues? Ridiculous.
I have delivered two babies at Sunnybrook and both times my experience was phenomenal. All my pregnancy care, as well as the birthing experiences themselves and post care were handled so professionally. I never felt rushed and always felt I was in good hands. I only wish Sunnybrook had pediatricians that saw babies so that I could continue to go there with my kids for their care after being born.
Outstanding health care! A University of Toronto teaching hospital, regional Cancer treatment centre, trauma center and so much more.
Five stars for sure ! when my mom was diagnosed with stage one cervical cancer, the managed to help her and lessen her chances of of anything coming back to 4%. The parking is expensive but of course thats the case for any hospital, it really enlightened me seeing all those happy faces walking out of the hospital. They’ve saved lives and im so grateful they saved my moms ! The staff is super sweet , and talented as well . the surgeons are pretty much some of the best in the country and the radiation / chemo clinic is one of the best .
Canadian identity and pride has been largely built on a myth: that we can the best healthcare system in the world. When my brother was suddenly paralyzed due to a vascular issue in this spine and he was hospitalized at Sunnybrook this myth became a real nightmare. His ordeal included: poor communications from doctors, delayed testings like MRIs to determine the pathology, contradicting briefings, overcrowded rooms, lack of leadership resulting in a ¨no-one-in charge¨ environment while many doctors there label themselves as world-renowned leaders in their field, and worst of all an irresponsibly bleak diagnosis by a neurosurgeon dismissing any real chance of good recovery. Later he was moved to Lyndhurst (a spinal cord injury rehab hospital) to undergo ¨intensive¨ physical therapy a couple of hours a day and nothing on the weekends. Despite some well intentioned staff, the mood of the whole place and the virtual non-existence of emotional support or extracurricular activities, most patients were stuck in a state of depression and hopelessness. As he was starting to show very modest improvements (now about 4 months into his injury) but still far from being able to walk and very much in need of extended intensive therapy, there were hints that he would be discharged. A doctor told him that years ago (when OHIP worked decently) patients were kept at the centre for over a year but that now they are pushed out. At that time, my brother moved to Colombia where he underwent daily and extended physical therapy with world-class equipment (missing in Toronto) and under care of notch staff (yes, we have them in Toronto but they are overworked and stressed). Now, a year and some months later, he is walking, with a cane, but walking. Would he have walked under Canada´s best-in-the-world healthcare system? I don´t wish to contemplate an answer to this question. Final note: Sunnybrook´s ¨patient experience team¨ not need to respond my comments. I raised my issues with them while my brother was at the hospital and they just brushed them off.
Went there with my baby to do a covid testing that was booked online. Got there 10min before and was greeted by a very friendly guy whom directed me to the testing area. The nurses were amazing and made the experience less traumatic to my baby. We were in and out in 15min. I highly recommend it
I'm writing this review based on my own experience working as a volunteer. As a volunteer, our team makes sure that when family's and patients need help, we're there to service them, with all the resources we have access to. Working under the guidance of the Volunteer coordinator, I have nothing but good things to say working here. What you put in is what you get back. As a person who naturally enjoys helping others, I've made amazing connections with patients and their families. At times, you find yourself going above and beyond in trying to help the less fortunate, but the only reward at the end I truly enjoyed was a simple, "Thank you" and a smile. Hospital can be busy at times, but that's something out of a volunteer hands. Parking is a bit hectic, especially if your parking just north of the main hospital building, its like a maze. Volunteers get free parking, and reimbursed after your done volunteering in the end. Good hospital, clean, great atmosphere.
Saved my wife's life, nothing more to say, 5 well deserved stars!
Dr. Chung is very knowledgeable and helped a lot during treatment. With his expertise he helps patients with serious illnesses. I would like to wish him and his team a very happy New Years and wish him health and happiness.
Thank you for the care that I was provided during a difficult time
I can't thank Sunnybrook hospital and their staff enough for their expert care and wonderful bedside manner. I was admitted to Sunnybrook 3 weeks ago after my water broke at 29 weeks. I was admitted into the high risk obstetrics ward, and cared for by their amazing team of nurses, doctors, technicians, and pharmacists. I've never felt more included in and informed about a hospital's treatment plan. Every morning during rounds, I was seen by not only the doctors but as well by a pharmacist and the head nurse. It made me feel safe knowing that a whole team was behind me and ready to act should any complications arise. Every nurse that cared for me walked into the room fully informed about how I came to be at their hospital and seemed to have a thorough knowledge of my chart. Sunnybrook hospital was able to keep me pregnant for a whole two weeks after my water broke. Once there was a hint of trouble for my little one and myself, their team was quick to act and prepared for any eventuality. I delivered my son via emergency c section, and despite it being a very scary time I was so well cared for that I was able to stay calm for the duration of my labour. I could write for hours on the positives of my care, but most importantly they have shown my son such loving care. After only 1 week in the NICU my son no longer requires the care of a level three nursery and is ready for transfer to a level two nursery closer to home. I can't even begin to properly express my gratitude for the level of care that both my son and myself have received. Thank you Sunnybrook
Yet another Toronto hospital with horrendous ER wait times. In and out for me was 12 hours. I was in orange zone and had ECG, blood work, CT scan and IV done. At the end, they asked me if the pain was gone, I said “yes” just get out of there. Mental pain had become greater than physical.
Very nice staff!
Sunnybrook Hospital is one of the best in the country. My mother has been sick for quite sometime and dismissed by other hospitals. I brought her to emerg at Sunnybrook and she was taken in right from triage within 15 minutes. After a week of tests, my mom began to have seizures. Unfortunately, even with a medically induced coma, these seizures would not subside. After a couple weeks of exhausting all tests, the critical illness team decided to transport my mom to Toronto Western Hospital as they have doctors who specialize in seizures. Although the sunnybrook team was not able to conclude on a diagnosis of what was causing the seizures, they did all they could and sent her to a hospital that’s better equipped for my mothers condition. We are aware there are no guarantees Toronto Western can save her, but as a family we appreciate the dedication and honesty. I would like to commend the Sunnybrook team as they went above and beyond, communicated often and thoroughly and never declined us a sit down with the doctors. A special thank you to all the nurses, especially Nurse MaryAnne in ICU. She was so friendly, caring and professional. Thank you to all the doctors that looked after my mother including Dr Cuthbertson, Dr Spring and Dr Rubenfeld. We know your team of amazing doctors tried every thing. Lastly, thank you to our Social Worker Megan for always trying her best to help our family during these difficult times. The entire Sunnybrook team should be proud of their work.
A great place to get better.
Went to K-1 Center for Pallative Care for my Best Friend George an Army Vetran who was well looked after by caring compassionate staff..Great having a Doctor checking with Nurses and Patients constantly.
The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful from beginning to end. If I can help it I will never be returning here…
Very bad experience with most of the nurses after my surgery.
I've been having extreme pain in my lower thorasic spine at level T10 and around the front also. After 2 emergency runs at 2 other hospitals, I was taken to Sunnybrooke. They did an MRI and within 2 hours had me prepped for surg5ery to remove a tumor metastisizing around my spine. Yesterday I couldn't walk, today less than 16 hours after my operation, i could walk with a Walker and therapist helping me. They are extremely caring and helpful here.
Good care
Good service
Comparing to other hospitals in Ontario, Sunnybrook and many staff members there have a very poor behaviour, unprofessional work attitude and lots of corruptions and lying.. try run to other hospitals if you can! Note to the “patient.experience”: Please stop writing same respond to all frustrated patient and instead bring up all these one and two star reviews to your Vice President of the hospital about rude, uncaring and corrupted staff!
(Translated) Interested and good, but he disagrees and wants the best (Original) …
Sunnybrook saved my life ..when I had my appendix inflamed it was near fatal but the nurses and doctors acted promptly and efficiently. The transporters and other medical staff were also very professional...thank you all and God Bless Everyone at Sunnybrook
came in at 8.30 pm with chest pains, neck pains and high blood pressure. triage was quick but it's now 2.10am and I'm still waiting to be seen by a doctor. drove all the way from whitby to come here due to recommendation for cardiology and the service is less to be desired.
Horrible worker.....
good first experience
Really appreciate dr Andrew Quirion and team of emergency Sunnybrook hospital department, for their excellent work January 6th
Heaven on Earth
The receptionist and the nurses and even the doctor are rude. Why are there not more doctors there? It is so slow it's like they're waiting for you to die before they help you. It's way too busy they make you wait all night before you get help even if you have a serious condition which I had .Filthy hospital emergency, slowest moving people I have ever seen they want to sit on their behind and talk rather than help you unusually ridiculously slow in the emergency department where are all the doctors. I'm never going back and good luck to you if you go there be prepared to be there all night. The bathrooms reek of urine. Like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. WHY DO YOU SAY YOU HEAR ME? YOU DON'T FIX THE PROBLEMS!!! STOP SAYING YOU CARE AND DO SOMETHING , YOUR EMERGENCY SUCKS!!!
I went there for emerg after 4 hours I was told Dr is running behind on his charting they are closing at 12:30 and they would move me to a different zone and I have to wait some more till I would be seen. Which I don't mind waiting but What I over heard when I went to the bathroom was the emergency Dr forgot about me even though I was told I was next he saw 4 other patients and obviously they won't admit to it, and that was the end for me, I left never going back
The staff are very professional and helpful. The hospital needs some interior renovation.
Best hospital i have ever experienced. I have been going through a lot in life. I disturbed all staff, then also they were so patient and treated me well all the time. Thank you so much for your services. Lot of respect increased for front line workers????
Although the wait was longer than other ER waits I've experienced - 8 hours total from triage to leaving the hospital, the care and assessment was well worth it. The nurse (Lisa) was helpful and when I was about to crash due to the lack of sleep while waiting, she let me take a nap on the stretchers outside. Another nurse saw me sleeping and even offered a warm blanket! The doctor (Dr. Baimel) was patient and very thorough (can't stress this enough), and even promising to follow up the next day regarding nose and throat swabs. Never had an ER doctor that was so patient and treated me with such a high level of professionalism.
Good hospital.. I gave birth to my sons here. Dr Cohen is a good doctor!
One of the best in Canada, a world class hospital.
Pricey parking.
Very poor service by entitled staff who refuse to be compassionate or provide simple answers on wait time. Pam is very rude, I'm surprised she is in the position she is, working with people under duress when she doesn't express any compassion or patience at all. In 25 years this is the worst hospital experience I've ever had and those managing this hospital should be ashamed of their lack of quality control. Im a project manager and understand the failures I can see at Sunnybrook ER. Shame, they profit hundreds of millions per year but refuse to hire quality staff or adequately staff for the demand. I invite any person in charge of these reviews to reach out to ne, that is, IF there is even any such role at this abysmal institution
One of the best hospitals in Toronto for sure. I had an emergency surgery done here and I got both my covid vaccine shots here too. The staff is courteous and helpful with all questions. Definitely my hospital of first choice for any medical treatment.
I find nothing wrong with the Vetrans Centre or Sunnybrook itself. Some areas could be updated otherwise nurses are very accomodating . Parking is expensive unless you have a parking pass.
The staff were super nice to me and took excellent care of my premi Baby. Words cannot express my gratitude to the Doctors and staff for what they did for us. May God bless you all.Thank you
Cracked my pelvis and crushed an artery. I didn't choose to go to Sunnybrook the paramedics thought it was best. If you have loved ones unfortunate enough to stay here then watch the staff.
Young Filipino female nurse was unprofessional.... Received reply - sent email about the situation to the patient experience team.
Awful. I was attacked by a dog and needed stitches for my hand. Was waiting in emerg until 3am. I understand how crazy emerg can be, so being incredibly polite and understanding, I asked the nurse politely what the expected wait-time would be, since I needed to be up at 6am for work. I needed to know whether or not to call into work sick or not. I was in tears, and when I asked the nurse this question, she looked at me with an "F off" look and walked away. Then I asked the nurse beside her and all she said was "the doctor will see you when he sees you". I walked out of there in tears from lack of sleep and from the pain of the bite. Terrible experience. Nurses at Sunnybrook.....I get you hate being asked the dreaded question of "how long the wait is", but for people who work and have families, this is a reasonable question. Telling a patient an approximate time, or even giving a general idea with how the long the patient before them has been waiting, is really not so difficult. I was embarrassed to go into work the next morning with a ripped apart hand, trying to explain to my coworkers how no one would help me.
I have received the best care I could wish for after suffering a head injury. I saw a number of excellent doctors and interns in the Neurology and Neurosugery departments. Dr. Mainprize and his residents have seen me through a difficult time. All medical outcomes have been positive thanks to their skills. I consider myself very fortunate to have a hospital of this quality nearby.
Odette Centre is a wonderful place for Cancer patients and caregivers. Very caring staff. Those of us living here are very fortunate to have this hospital for treatment.
This is the worst hospital. Took my dad for a CT scan and we waited for almost four.hours!! They shouldn't had given appointments with so many patients on the same day!! It's a waste of time.
I called eye specialist team and also left a Voicemails. Their receptionist never returned my call nor reminder call. Never pick up the phone and they aren’t nice or professional. This hospital instead of getting better from Drs, staff, and technologies to help patients are moving backwards. All their health departments are pretty the same. Outpatient mental health not recommending.
Took a neighbour this evening to his wife, who was admitted as her port is infected and they need to keep her for the weekend. Stage 4 and a nurse. She is heavily medicated for pain, and sharing a room with 2 men. You read that right. I will say I reached to the President and he responded within an hour. Over 100% occupancy and is looking into. I am seriously appalled. The level of care my Father received on Medicare in the US last year over 7 months in a town of 70K was simply amazing. We are kidding ourselves in Canada if we believe we have a better system. After paying what I have paid into the system for 25 plus years, I just pray I never have to use it.
(Translated) Sunny brook Science Center is located at Eglinton and Bayview Ave in North York, the capital of Ontario, Canada. It is the largest cancer treatment center in Toronto (English: Trauture Center) and one of the largest …
Somehow i dont believe this hospital is over run with covid patients like the media is saying.
Super gutes Krankenhaus . Dr M Tile The absolut best so is Dr G Faclier and H. Kreder Not so much The Dr that Operated me in 2009 not so much a Dr but more a Butcher .
I never heard the patients in emergency waiting more than 3 hours . and when i ask them how long they said we cannot answer you .if i can give zero star i will do it .
My husband received acid burns on his face and body and was admitted to the Ross Tilley burn ward. Not that I recommended that you to put and get a burn, but this is the place to be if you do. Kind, Knowledgeable, caring. I would say all but one nurse was awesome. The food was actually good (I ate what he didn't like lol) for hospital food. But parking is crazy expensive.
We had our first little one here! It was an amazing experience! The nurses and nighttime staff were extremely paitent and very friendly! I went with a private room and it was best decision ever. Thank you to the staff at Sunnybrook!
I needed to save my left eye, and Dr Chew did an emergency transplant and I was able to see again the next day ????
It is where you go to die if you or your loved ones wish to have false hope or are unable to care for you or deal with your untimely passing at home. My Brother. R.I.P. March 30,2019.Stage 4 Melanoma.
The staff is amazing and very professional
Excellent care by ICU unit and good care by Cardiac care. Food needs some improvement.
I was sent to emergency department both by my Family doctor and 2 other clinics because they didn't have the ability to do the simple procedure in their office. I understand that the emergency department is busy with much more severe cases. I waited patiently. The nurse (Asma) came to see me in my cubicle and was dismissive and made assumptions without doing a proper intake. I had to be stern and correct her assumption, in order for her to send me for x-rays. When I got back to my cubicle she was still being dismissive and essentially didn’t want to do the procedure, I know it was simple and probably not what she felt like doing but I wasn’t there just because I had nothing to do, or because I hadn’t tried other healthcare practitioners. After trying to talk me out of having the procedure and giving me all the risks, i said i still wanted the procedure done since 3 different healthcare workers including my family doctor suggested I get it done... she did it, with my foot up on an arm rest of a chair. I had to ask for proper self care, since all she could tell me was how there’s a high risk of infection... I asked her about polysporin and she said I could use it I wanted but there’s no proof that it helps. I was pretty sure she wasn’t going to try and put effort into the procedure...and sure enough she was done the procedure in minutes without any success. Even when i told her that my doctor tried with 3 different types of tweezers she chose to only use the biggest tweezer. I guess, next time I need to go to emergency I should go to a different hospital... further away. Maybe privatization is a better way to go.
All comments lies Nurses and staff not friendly
Clean facility, Great Doctors but it took over 5hrs of waiting to see a doctor to close up an open wound, with 3 stitches. I felt like the nurses thought that they were doing me a favor. Clearly a nurse should have the training and skill to suture a wound especially one that's less than an inch long. Sunnybrook you need to do better. Oh!....and one more thing, it's not cool when people speak to you as if you're uneducated and not able to do deductive reasoning. Why lie about the amount of doctors on call. This large hospital with an enormous foot-print, in a city of 3 Million people only had 1 doctor at work ???????? I guess I'm stupid.
It is terrible, wait times of over 8 hours in the ER, what a waste of time
Unbelievably rude administration staff. I'm well aware of how underfunded and understaffed hospitals can be for the staff who are in the trenches, but this is a weekend warrior administrative assistant who obviously hates her job. Perhaps she shouldn't be dealing directly with the public. For several months now, I've been incorrectly receiving mail from Sunnybrook Health Science. They have been using my address for a “Dr. P” who hasn't been in this unit for a decade. I took all proper and necessary steps to get the mail to stop coming here. I called Dr. P’s office, spoke to a kind and friendly administrative assistant. She said she'd let Sunnybrook know (that was two months ago). Several times, I've written on the envelope 'Return to Sender, - No such person at this address.' I've spoken to the mailman. Yet this is the 6th - possibly 7th - piece of mail I've received. No biggie but I figure it should be addressed so I'm taking my time out to address it. I checked my mailbox Friday evening at 6pm when I was leaving my place and saw yet ANOTHER piece of mail from Sunnybrook. Obviously, I was leaving and didn't have time to call then. While I was thinking of it, I called this morning (7:15 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018) just to see if I could leave a message for admin, but the very kind operator (also named Colleen) told me there actually was someone there to whom I could speak. Great! I wasn't expecting that. I also wasn't expecting someone condescending, rude, and seemingly with only a loud mouth and no ears. I started to tell her what's been happening. I barely got a sentence out and she starts telling me to do all the things I've already done and speaking in the most condescending tone like I'm a complete moron, even as I was trying to tell her that I've taken all the steps. She wouldn't listen. She also whined, "You know, first of all, it's 7:20 on a Saturday morning. I only manage things on the weekend." She said it like I had no clue what time it was. Had she stopped talking for three seconds, she would have known why I ended up speaking to her. I replied with, "Yes, but my hope is that you can take down some information and relay it to the staff for Monday..." at which point she hung up on me! Ha! Hung up on me for that! And unlike her, I was being respectful. As I said, I was surprised to get admin staff on the weekend. I was only expecting to leave a message. She was incapable of doing that but she's well versed in utter rudeness. I'm doing THEM a favour trying to save them time, money, and admin work, yet instead I get met with attitude from an inept, overpaid, angry person. I then called back, spoke to Colleen the operator again, told her what happened and asked to leave a message for someone higher up, which I did. I highly doubt anything will be done and I will continue to get these letters which I won't bother with anymore. I've taken all the proper steps. I guess they have staff time and hospital money to blow. I went out of my way wasting my own time for something that has zero to do with me, to rectify their problem, and I’m rewarded with the high and mighty weekend administrative assistant who hung up on me because she's too lazy and not clever enough to take down a bit of information. How do these people keep their jobs? Judging by the previous comments about the admin staff there, I'm guessing nothing is done about it anyway, but at least we can all commiserate and know that we've had this experience through no fault of our own. Shameful behaviour. I can't even imagine being a patient or the loved one of a patient there and having to deal with someone so rude over something so simple. That's why I'm leaving this review. I feel sorry for those who have way more important things going on and have to deal with someone like her. I'm going to email and call again and again until I'm able to speak to someone with a modicum of proper customer service so there's no need for you to reply with your canned response saying that you care. Thank you.
What is the point of contacting patient care as so many complaints here have not made a difference. People are in pain and die without given empathy or dignity. Will only change when you fire people. Managers allow this to happen get serious and fire them. Patient experience is a pacifier not a department to make changes. Our system is broken not because if a lack of money but a lack of compassion, empathy, listening, proper management. Don't bother with patient experience go to ombudsman and your MPP. Unfortunately we are tided to this system that kills people through neglagance. No patient protection.
The first time I went was for a prescription for depo - something I had been on for a while. The issue is that I don't live in Toronto I just go to school so it was my first time seeing a doctor here. She told me that my periods sounded normal (even though I told her about intense pain that makes it hard to even stand) and that she didn't want to give me depo because I'm too young and I ought to consider other options (even though she knew I'd had it before and I told her about my allergic reaction to one type of bc and the TIA I had on another form) then she told me there was nothing wrong with me even though I was experiencing intense pain- which turned out to be muscle related. The next time I went was much better for me the nurse was nice even though the wait for an Xray took forever. There was a sweet old lady waiting for an xray too and another nurse asked to take her into the hallway for privacy then proceeded to wheel her into the hallway right in front of the door and talk loudly and slowly to her as if she was an idiot and also taking away the privacy he was trying to give her. I had spent hours chatting with this woman and there was no need to treat her that condescending. And if you're going to speak loudly to a patient take them to a more private place than the door outside the waiting room. Anyway. My point is I'm avoiding this hospital at all costs from now on.
It was so quick and they took a good care of us during the test.
Inefficiency in medical patience, disorganization and lack of control in the distribution of patient care, waiting time of a minimum of 8 hours at night, irregularly high prices in the products of the food court... The hospital service is really inefficient with a continuous pattern from 3 years ago...
Due to my dad's health issues we have been to Sunnybrook dozens of times over the past 3 years. Overall great despite some (expected) waiting due to volume. Solid docs. Decent admin. The nurses are amazing!!!!
I was hospitalized for 9 days due to a bike accident. I got 2 surgeries. I want to tell everyone that this Hospital has been a blessing in my life. Extraordinary surgeons, doctors, nurses and general personal who works in here. I'm alive and in good health. God bless this Hospital!
Taking my mother to the Sunnybrook Hospital Emergency was a complete waste of time. We arrived at 9:15am, waited until 6:00pm to be assessed. Waited another hour for an ultrasound, where an oncology specialist was required to perform a surgical procedure to drain abdominal ascites fluid build up. He never showed up. We left after a 14 hour day no better off than when we arrived. In fact worse. She was in so much pain and so uncomfortable, no one even offered to have her lay down or raise her badly swollen legs. In fact, I asked one of the ER nurses at the desk in the Blue Zone, if she could lay down on a vacant reclining chair that was in the hallway, so she could raise her legs for a while and he said, flat out "NO". When she was finally taken to a room for an assessment examination, the young doctor was lovely and very understanding, but the moment he left the room we were abruptly ordered back to the waiting room. I was helping my mother sit up on the stretcher to get her dressed –and just as she was regaining balance in her discomfort, an abrupt young nurse came in and without knocking or alerting us to her presence, swung back the curtain and told us to vacate the room. So very Rude. Extremely negligent and careless staff. Except for the young Dr who's name I don't recall, who did the initial assessment and one emergency room nurse, Adam, who came to our aid because he felt sorry hearing my mother moaning from pain, NO one there actually cared to help. They actually steered clear of where they had seated her. One of the worst experiences I have ever witnessed – and had to put my ill, elderly mother through. Just AWFUL.
If you have Blood work to do I would recommend going elsewhere . I am disabled and although I can walk, it's not easy. I peered into the 50+seat room (standing room only) noticing the ticket machine outside the door was empty and being my first time there and unfamiliar with current practice, I waited patiently for an appropriate moment to politely say " hello, this is my first time here. I'm sorry to bother you but when your free I just have one quick question." The big Jamaican or African lady who was chatting with a co-worker about her previous weekend sharply scolded me for being "in the wrong place to ask questions" and refused to talk to me until I was standing in the proper spot. She motioned towards the corner of the desk, while simultaneously sighing at me and rolling her eyes. No reference was made as to whether I was to pass and turn, so I stopped before turning the corner. This is a desk mind you she could see me and talk to me clearly from anywhere. To be clear I was not butting in line so there was no reason for this crazy behaviour. Everyone in the room heard her yell at me. No, NOT There! Another very loud sigh followed by an under her breath *expletive* dats not where, you have a question? go stand where I told you. Wow so before I can respond a lady standing behind me has a text message come in. She's not talking on the phone she just pulls it out of her pocket and silences it. The big mean mean lady yells, loud enough for everyone in the room to hear again, there's no talking on your cell phone can't you read and shakes her head. No one was on the phone. What a horrible, terrible person. I cant imagine why one would go Into the service Industry if you are going to act like a total Honestly, I have had good experiences with specialists and the x-ray techs were knowledgeable and friendly, but it's all overshadowed by the big, rude, mean lady with an apparent vendetta against being courteous or polite, respectfull or tolerant and even has the outright nerve to yell loud enough for everyone in the room to hear. All 50 people heard her treat me like a misbehaving toddler, completely disrespect the quiet woman who forgot to silence her phone(and did not answer it) and we're subjected to listening to her yacking about her petty, non- work related problems to her poor coworkers, who obviously can't do anything but politely nod and try to steer the conversation back towards the work at hand. Easily one of the Rudest people I have ever met. Everyone has hard days but give me a break you work in a hospital.
DOCTORS ARE GOD.WELL CLEANEAD HOSPITAL.
The receptionist and the nurses are awful. They are not helpful at all, they left me in the bathroom for half an hour, didn't tell me what food I can and can't eat after my surgery, they left me cold in the room, completely cold and heartless treatment.
I got my covid-19 jab here. It was fast and efficient. The staff were friendly and made me feel at ease. I recommend the vaccine to everyone.
After an over three hour wait I never ended up being seen by a doctor at all. I came here due to extreme pain to my gums that was increasing over the course of the evening. I came home without any resolution to having some peace of mind or any relief of the pain. I worry that time is of essence due to infection/ my issue was not a priority. Very disturbing
Yesterday my mom went for her second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine but that clinic did not have the same vaccine that she got for her first dose. The staff there told her to come to Sunnybrook instead. We tried to book an appointment online but a message said to try again in the future. However, I saw that Sunnybrook is holding a walk-in vaccine clinic July 19-22, 2021. On the website it says the walk-in clinic begins at 9 am so we arrived early unsure how many other people would have come as well. To my surprise there wasn't really a line to go into the clinic. A staff member asked people a few questions and then they went right in. Instructions on the website said to park in Parking Garage 1 (PG-1) on the underground lowest level: Level 3A East. It was nice that parking was free if going to the Covid-19 vaccine clinic. Just bring your parking receipt to the vaccine clinic to have it validated. I saw a drop off zone at Building K, which is right across from Building E for the clinic. The campus is also accessible by TTC as the bus goes through the campus.
The staff were very kind and helpful. The food was delicious. However, the Covid-19 precautions need to be increased if Covid 19 is to cease. People are entering unmasked and sitting in stacxs and wheelchairs that were previously used by others who were unmasked.
Saved my life in 2003, and today once more in 2014. What fantastic teams of medical practitioners! I met a neural surgeon in 2005 during a flight from the southern U.S. and his remarks were "in my 25 years of practice, I've never met anyone who survived my condition and fully recovered like did". Thank God to for Canada's medical care system....over $150,000 worth of 4 month's + care from the best and we never even saw bill. Now retired, we volunteer time and donate money to help keep it going.
They saved my dad's life. I will be forever greatfull overall he had a great experience here even during covid and I thank all the staff and doctors that work here. You are all heros in my life :)
Meh
Saved my life
best hospital i have been to in ontario
Inefficiency in medical patience, disorganization and lack of control in the distribution of patient care, waiting time of a minimum of 8 hours at night, irregularly high prices in the products of the food court... The hospital service is really inefficient with a continuous pattern from 3 years ago...
Slow slow slow slow slow slow slow
Pay parking no visitor parking when asked a security they told me there is no free parking ir visitor parking. When we entered they though is not emergency even thought we came from emergency door . I have patient who is vomiting and headache and we are waiting for an hour and only did blood work no doctor no iv non . Please reconsider the meaning of emergency and look at people condition and HELP THEM PEOPLE REALLY ARE SUFFERING I GIVE 5 BECAUSE OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE
The nurse did not do her job and neglected our family member while he was a patient under her care at Sunnybrook. The nurse let our family member sit in filth and would not bother to change the sheets or clothes.
Why make a 5 year old wait for 6 hours in ER just to tell him to go to Sick Kids after without any treatment? Why not tell immediately? In their defence this is the second time exact same thing happening to us so I guess I am the foolish one hoping it would be different in second time. If you need urgent treatment for a kid simply go to Sick Kids instead of having a 6 hour break here first. The plastic surgeon refused to see my kid because kids are not their specialty. How different can be a kids finger from a grown ups? What you can't even glance? We been waiting for 6 hours with my kids nail removed from his finger and bleeding and you are simply refusing to see him? Horrible experience.
Nurses are extremely inconsiderate at this hospital in the F wing. My wife is going through a hard time here and there is a sign that does say visiting hours start at 4, when I went at 4 the nurse was very rude and told me visiting hours start at 6:30. Nurses in this wing especially should be more considerate and the nurse I dealt with should work in a jail and not a hospital
Staff are extremely clueless and disorganized.
Went in for mental health help . Got put in a family room waited about 3 hrs then left , there was no help coming. Guess they only help you if you hurt yourself really badly . Thanks .
2 hours wait time while my wife was extreme pain... worse ER I've seen in 5 major cities in 4 provinces.
Went to get a COVID test on a weekday mid-afternoon, there was hardly any line which was great. The staff were nice and professional. Overall was a good experience with getting the COVID testing done. The registration form does require a OHIP number, just a heads up for people who are planning to go there. I was a bit nervous for the testing, but it wasn't as bad at all and very quick.
I arrived feeling very sick, after 4 hours waiting on the emergency room, I went to talk to a nurse to inform that my condition had worsened. The nurse ttreated me as if I was interrupting her. She either could not care less or be more arrogant than she was. It is funny, because there is as sign specifically orienting to inform a nurse if you feel worse. I have no idea why , if they won't do anything and will make you feel bad for asking. I left without seeing a doctor after 4:30 hours waiting.
Once you find where you need to go they are very helpful and wait times are the lowest I've experienced.
Great care.
We brought my mom into the hospital because she had shortness of breath and was feeling dizzy. In about 90 minutes they had her a room and about in 60 minutes later they had a doctor examine her. He wasn’t rushed he didn’t take shortcuts he went through all of the testing that he needed to do to reassure us. He ordered a CAT scan and because there were so many unanswered questions, he kept her for observation! I can’t say enough about how thorough they were and thankful they did not make us feel like we are part of an assembly line!
My grandfather received exceptional care at the Odette Centre for two different manifestations of cancer. His main oncologist was incredibly kind, involved, and informative, providing a variety of options at all times and ensuring our family was a critical part of the process. His nurses were friendly, warm, and considerate, especially in accommodating his needs as the radiation begun to take a painful toll on him. The technicians and all other members involved made sure he felt well cared for and that he and our family were aware of everything occurring in his treatment. Unfortunately, parking is quite expensive but that seems to be the norm in Toronto and specifically at hospitals. Hopefully something can be done to rectify the financial stress this places on individuals already facing health challenges or distress because of a loved one's health issues.
Fantastic hospital, ophthalmology department A1. Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Lloyd are among the best.
One of the worst hospitals I've ever dealt with in all 14 of my broken bones. This hospital will straight up ignore your concerns and pains and focus only on what THEY THINK the issues should be and even omit the proper xrays to even observe the issues you are complaining about. If you have the option, save yourself a TON of hassle and go to a hospital that ACTUALLY cares about your health, and isn't just in a rush to move onto the next patient without having properly addressed any of your issues. Sunnybrook CLEARLY only cares about profits, and it shows in their rush you out the door style "patient care".
Absolutely amazing staff. Amazing bed side manner. Wonderful care. After being to so many hospital with no answers this is a definite blessing and to all of the kind staff that comforted my partner through the worst pain I thank you from the bottom of my heart
If you need baloon for your heart artery stay away from the short indian female "Dr". She is the worst butcher.
The BEST Healthcare Facility in Canada.....and that's saying something because there are a LOT of terrific Healthcare Facilities here. They receive the most bizarre cases in Emerg. that NO other hospitals can diagnose, and they put you in a Care Team, and run a ton of tests and come up with a diagnosis. It's amazing! They TOTALLY saved my life. My family physician couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. He said, 'if it gets 'noticably worse go directly to Emerg at Sunnybrook. With severe headaches, stiff jaw, and couldn't lift my arms up to wash my hair or anything else one normally does, I figured I was at the 'noticeably worse stage'. With NO blood pressure in either arm or leg, done manually or with a blood-pressure machine. after many tests. They figured out my diagnosis. Giant Cell Arteritis [Inflammation of you Giant Arteries]......they came up with a plan of action in a flash and after I was discharged, treated me on an outpatient. While it's taken years for my body to get back to normal as my meds were gradually reduced....it was constant progress throughout. Dr. Mary Bell is a THE BEST. She's monitored my progress carefully and I'M ALL WELL NOW!!!! YEAH FOR SUNNYBROOK AND THEIR FANTASTIC CARE TEAMS.
Amazing experience we had during our unfortunate events for last month. A month in ICU and trauma, we were mentally broken. The staff, every single person we dealt with there, were so helpful. They never made us feel that anything we ask is unwanted. They did their best in situations nobody wishes to be in. I do not have enough words to express my gratitude towards them. We can only hope that none of us have to go there, but if you do happen to be there for any cause, know that you’re in warm and safe hands.
Spent time with my friends family near the ICU. They helped ensure that our experience was the best it could be under those circumstances. I appreciate it. Parking is outrageously expensive... I don't understand how they expect grieving family members to deal with it... Ridiculous.
Serious concerns about the hospital. Letting suicidal patients go home alone, with the pills they took to try and kill themselves is not what I would call safe, from any hospital.
off the top i want to be 10% clear (ugh i hope that reads 100% i hâte spelle-cheque) that the doctors and nurses i've dealt with here are quite literally heroes and surprisingly attractive as a group. and also thank you/them. the doctors are a caring, gentle bunch of nerds who spent much time and money to become professional-lifesaving-lab-coat-wearing-smart people who love hanging framed diplomas and having a special academic title. they really are actual doctors. thank God for nerds because living. Living usn't for me but judging by the price of parking i think many people are all yay life. i'm bipolar1. jealous? sorry i know it's not a competition i'm just saying i've spent a lot of time there against my will. ok fine i'll stop showing off. the psychiatric/brain science ward is right past the burn unit and the morgue and i'm all, do they not understand i'm looking for a reason to live. i got shock-therapy and IMHO there are better hospitals for that. that said it's in my top-6 places for ECT out of 5. i took off one star for that. before you do your shock-therapy, they'll give you a black & white illegible pamphlet of 1pg explaining all about the shocks and therapy and electro. there are super nice laminated signs for where the bathroom is and glossy reviews of what to expect before chemo and other procedures to take your mind off it. GET IT?! like i need help getting rid of my mind COME ON WHY WOULD I BE THERE. if you're dressed like a regular person when you walk through the halls of the outpatient psych-ward you can play games, like look at a lady/patient and say "listen to that music!" and she'll say, "what music?" and then i'll be all, "susan there's no music what are you even talking about" and then she might begin to question herself but that's not my fault. susan (if that IS her real made-up name) isn't my problem. from the assistants to the doctors to the psychiatric nurses- they are incredible, hard-working, selfless, caring and personable but not in a creepy way. more in a boring way but read the room amirite ladies in the back of the in-patient psych-ward. they are warm and make you feel as safe as can be- especially when you're surrounded by weirdos. sorry, i mean- when I'M surrounded by weirdos. also they aren't really there. to sum up, when i'm in the F ward you can guarantee there's a weird jazz solo going on in my head. don't worry. i was diagnosed long before my doctors were born. my file is longer than reading Proust but way more compelling than that s.o.b. i'm very professional at bipolar disorder. you're welcome for everything sunnybrook!
I hate to see our tax money is wasted. "Free medical care my assperin". More than half of the hospitals staff and doctors should be fired, or put back in school. They forgot their duties, stop making pharma companies richer and destroying lifes of innocent people. Stay away if you can.
Brought my husband here because he had trouble breathing. He was admitted for a week. We had excellent doctors and nurses. Communication was very clear and we were able to clairfy things that were unclear about for months. The parking is very expensive, look into a parking pass if you are coming often. The food is questionable as my husband, who is a diabetic, was given sugary desserts with some meals.
I have nothing but compliments for sunnybrook. Your greeter was warm and friendly and got us pointed in the right direction. Scheduled appointments were on time or early. All staff were sensitive, courteous and contributed to my well being. The medical staff were thorough, highly organized and truly professional. There is truly a culture of care in your hospital. My only regret: I cannot be a million dollar donor to help others who are so desperately in need of medical assistance.
I have no idea how the psychiatric department works and how they think basic respect works?! But the fact that I had a phone appointment with Dr. Carolyn Boulos about 6 weeks ago and today (the day of the appointment) it’s been 55 minutes as of now and no one has called me, shows how little they really care about their patients. Being on time is a lot to ask from a professional. Unbelievable.
Amazing hospital
I came in vomiting blood with horrible and scary pain in my stomach and after being seen in emerg, the nurses were trying to get me admitted to a bed upstairs for further tests. The nurses upstairs told the ER 'we don't want a patient up here who's spitting blood' and argued with them for hours about admitting me, leaving me in agony in the ER. I was diagnosed with a GI bleed the next morning when I FINALLY saw a doctor. I requested vegetarian meals and they fed me only beans - with a stomach condition, it was a lot of further pain. The next month I had almost the exact same symptoms of intense stomach pain and vomiting blood. Came to the ER and was actually seen by doctors fairly soon. They determined that my appendix needed to be removed as soon as possible (was it an appendix problem before? Their denial was pretty suspicious.). As I was alone and didn't have anyone to come take my purse before surgery they took it from me to "give to the nurse's station for lockup" until I was awake from surgery. I was told it would brought to me in recovery. Well, I woke up and no purse. I waited a few hours, no purse. I inquired and was told I had to be brought down to the nurse's office to pick it up. Then I was dragged out of bed, put in a wheel chair and rolled down by an orderly to get my purse. When I opened it, everything was in disarray. My little journal was ripped open, the pocket in the back of the journal holding photos of my dead mother and personal information was ripped apart because she apparently couldn't figure out that the opening was on the INSIDE so she just ripped it open. No apology or explanation was given for why my private little journal was ripped apart and pilfered and when I expressed anger and cried (no yelling, no cussing, just "why would you do this? This was an invasion of privacy!"), security was called to 'deal with me'. One of the officers was understanding, but the female officer was rude, instigatory and insulting. No apology or explanation was ever offered by the nurse who invaded my privacy and pilfered through my belongings. She hid from me and refused to be accountable for her unlawful actions. Again I was given bean dishes while recovering from painful stomach issues. The nurses here are wretched horrible people.
Thank you doctor Katarzyna Jerzak and doctor Eileen Rakovitch for all the care that they have given me over past 2 years! Their compassionate attention and professional care saved my life. There are not enough words for me to express my appreciation! Because of your excellent care I have lived to celebrate my 66th birthday and enjoy the company of my four grandchildren.I will always be grateful for additional years of life that you gave me!!! Thank you again . Tatsiana Chyryk
Best hospital because my mom works here! yay have a good day bruh!
My son was brought into the Trauma unit after being in a motorcycle accident in June. I cannot say enough about the staff and how professional, approachable, compassionate, and helpful they were in helping us navigate our way around such an emotional event. Dr Snell and Dr Fialkov in Plastic surgery, and the entire team - I wish I could remember all of their names -were nothing but amazing. The trauma doctors and nurses, were incredible, Monica from Social services was incredible, from just lending an ear to listen, and in assisting us with coordinating all that we needed to complete necessary paperwork. The nursing staff in the Trauma ward - Jannie was my son's favorite - were incredible - from the pain management team to the porters that transported my son to and from surgery - the food service people that brought his meals everyday ( they do need improvement on the food :) ) were very friendly and accommodating. The entire staff took what was a very upsetting time for us a family, and made it easy for us to just focus on getting our son better. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you - words cannot express our heartfelt thanks.
Great hospital! Anytime I have to come in the doctors are there within the hour and they start the treatment and they have me admitted. Due to my spinal cord injury they also ensure that i am on a pressure relieving bed (before covid they’d bring a inpatient bed) now they put a special foam onto another stretcher and transfer me over to it, the stretcher is more comfortable to be honest. I have never had to wait hours like many people say on here because I go in for emergencies usually Sepsis due to kidney infections or sepsis kidney infection and a blood infection. I always have a high fever and low blood pressure. If it wasn’t for triage I would be dead because someone else thought they where going to die from a cold prior to the pandemic.
Until yesterday, I’ve never stepped foot into a hospital. After rushing my mother to the Sunnybrook emergency dept I must say that it has left me quite traumatized and unsettled. I understand that due to COVID there have been some extreme measures taken (no visitors), however in my case, I was granted the privilege of staying with my mother for as long as she needed due to the severity of the matter. After waiting 5 hours to see and speak to a doctor, I left the hospital to run to my car to grab a few things for my mother. Upon my return only two minutes later, the security guard AND the nurse on-call refused to let me back in, screamed at me, and kicked me out. Staff behaviour was appalling and I am truly horrified. I only hope that my mother and other patients receiving care at this hospital are properly attended to and treated with common decency and respect.
Still sitting at E.R orange room for 9 hours now. The Nurse that did my blood works failed miserably as they had to do my blood test again due to the blood being clotted. The waiting area is filthy.. I asked the nurse when will be seen.. The nurse look quite unhappy THAT I asked and made it seem like I'm bothering her. She said typical ER wait time is around 9-12 hours. She said there are sick people in the hospital that requires to be seen.. I guess she is saying I am not sick. Came here due to Chest pain and still in pain. I would say worst E.R to go to.
It safe my life back in year of 2000 from Bicycle crash I almost die if it isn’t sunnybrook thank you so much for safe my life mean world to mean.
Always the best place to go
Let me know in somalian man get in axedanty in the street yesterday night and hewas a Como and I don't know how is now can iknow a Google now pls thank you
Just called patient inquiry Thursday June 22 at 8:45am). The lady who picked up the phone (no salutation nothing) was short and curt in her questions and answer. It is one thing to be efficient and another thing to be rude. In lack of a better word she was downright rude. If management expects the moral and financial support of the general public, take note!!!!
I was there for about 2 weeks, and I witnessed some disturbing situations. Nurse's telling there Patience "Its not my job" when it came for "May I have a glass of water" making fun of there Patience, "Playing Doctor" when it came to wanting to see or notifying a real Doctor. And the Nurse's stations are one big party zone VERY NOISY LAUGHING GIGILING and if you ask for something while they are socializing "Oh Boy" there are some very good Nurse at Sunnybrook but sadly there are many who know how too play the system and they do. The Doctor's are TOP IN THERE FIELD well done on that but the Nurses fall way to short for that human touch.
The best physicians and care in the city
I really hope these Canadian hospitals can stop incarcerating black men against their own will when they have done nothing wrong against the law. I question the morals of the way they treat mental health patients.
YOU SHOULD NOT CALL IT EMERGENCY NO ONE IS THERE TO HEP LAST NIGHT I WAS THERE AND WAITED FOR 7 HOURS STILL WAITING I LEFT WITHOUT SEEING DOCTOR AS THEY KEEP SAYING WAIT WAIT AND WAIT NOT EMERGENCY AND DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE
Nice. Clean. Good reputation.
Lab Staff ate rude. They do more chatting with one another then actual work. The wait is ridiculous even when there is only 4 people waiting.
Very nice staff, great cancer centre, parking is a bit pricey. The only thing I do not like is you have to constantly follow up with the appointments for everything
Can't ask for a better hospital...
This place is only famous when you actually come in half dead already and they save you. Staff sucks. Don't waste your time here, you are better off taking your chances at a walk in clinic.
I had a lumbar discectomy procedure here last week and I could not have been more impressed by the care and attention that I received during my short stay. The nurses in the pre-op where so nice, one nurse, I think could tell that I was feeling nervous and she reassured me that my surgeon was one of the best around and generally made me feel calm and comfortable. I was then wheeled to the OR where again I was friendly spoken to by the nurses and my surgeon (Dr. Fazl) and all my questions where answered and everything was thoroughly explained to me. My anesthesiologist was equally kind and conversed with me while getting me set up and prepped. After the procedure I went to the post-op recovery room where I stayed overnight. I was again blown away by the friendly, helpful attitudes by all the hospital staff who took care of me during this time. I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the facility and all the hospital staff that took care of and treated me so well during this difficult time in my life. Thanks again!
I've been to quite a few hospitals in the Mississauga, Brampton and Toronto area for the very same medical issue and by far this was absolutely the best hospital I've been to. Yes, it is quite a wait at first, but I was placed in the Orange Wing and the staff were absolutely wonderful. Normally in the other hospitals I've been to, they dump you in a room in the Emergency Ward and then don't get seen for hours, while I was seen almost immediately by my assigned Nurse and then a Doctor (Mike) directly after having blood work taken and medication intravenously applied. They were constantly updating me on what was going on, and I really felt they cared and never seemed annoyed when I asked them a question. You have to respect and understand how stressful and demanding their job is, and it was wonderful they still checked in on me and gave me more medication as required when there were much sicker individuals there. No the food isn't great, but a hospital isn't a 5 star resort, and they provide the bare essentials for nutrients. If you want better food, there's a massive food court upstairs in the M2 level, so don't complain. Again, I was very pleased with my overall experience and will definitely consider them for my urgent medical needs in the future. One thing to note though is that all the Drs and Nurses seemed really young, like in their late '20s-early '30s so I'm wondering how much experience they actually have working there? Wasn't an issue at all, just an observation.
Great hospital
I have been waiting for 12 hours on a chair with Gallbladder stones and severe pain. No one gives me any information and now they want to send me home with the pain to try to schedule an appointment and do the surgery.
In ER since 2am and been here for almost 6 hours, received no treatment and was told that there is no doctors around. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE IN PAIN OR REALLY SICK because they do not take you seriously. If You dont want to die on your pain or sickness. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL BY ALL COST.
A Beautiful Hospital with caring Doctors
worst hospital ever. been 6 hours and still no doctor to see. you will wait for nothing. we regret coming here. it will just make you more sick .
Edit: Michelle, the manager of the dermotology department, told me that because they can see up to 400 a day the doctor can’t see me for longer than 30 seconds to a minute so it’s hard for her to go over my symptoms. Like itchy eyes. At an allergy test. They also NEVER answer the phones. Emails take up to 2 weeks to answer. There are better hospitals in the city. Nothing was resolved after 6-7 months. Back to my GP. Went to sunnybrook April 22 for an allergy test( with a referral) the doctor (dr Shapiro) I had said she didn’t want to waste the hospitals resouces doing an allergy test, so made me to a biopsy after I already had one( which I had the paperwork, and they asked for) wait weeks for results and of course the results come back the same. Of course. So she said would you like to go ahead with allergy test. The thing that I booked for weeks ago? Yes please. They book it for August 27th for a patch test and they call me a week before to tell me that dr Shapiro is busy that day and we’ll have to reschedule. The next date was November. I’ve already been waiting forever and asked why I was rescheduled such last minute and why I’d have to wait so long after she put this test off for so long. The lady on the phone goes on to tell me that because I cancelled and am rescuduling that things can take longer!?! They called because they were too busy. They aren’t very organized and didn’t really seem like they were there to help at all. She said she’d give me a call back if anyone reschedules / cancels but I don’t have much faith in how this place operates.
I wish I could give 0 star but it won’t let me, my dad had a stroke recently, stroke team did a great job saving my dads life, but the nurses and just horrible
Great hospital.
When I had complications in labour I was transferred to Sunnybrook. My husband and I were overwhelmed by what a fantastic experience we had especially considering we were trying to avoid a hospital birth. I am so happy this was our back up hospital and the staff were amazing!
Not a good place at all. Too much racist, Famil doctors and nurses are rude.. Not behaving good at all. You have choice please go to other hospital.
Was here for a thyroidectomy. When I had to stay over- I'm 85% sure I was bullied by hospital staff; sometimes I would not get food, would hear them down the hallway saying stuff about me. Had no way of telling time. was stuck with police officers hanging about a patient in the same room. ended up becoming paranoid(along with other, more serious issues that I wont say for fear of taking legal action) I'm very grateful that they took care of me and took steps to make sure I would not kill myself, however I strongly believe that certain areas are mismanaged. Ps , I apologize to the few nurses who I ended up bothering because of my panic attacks. Thank you for putting up with me
As a first time mom I was very disappointed with the experience. I guess the month of July was very busy for delivery, my daughter was born with 1 kidney and when she was born she was suppose to get an ultrasound done... I was in the hospital for 4 days and no one knew I even had to get an ultrasound done. They were very unorganized, I ended up leaving without medication for my daughter and without an ultrasound done. Then when it came to booking an appointment to get the ultrasound done with them they had me running around for weeks. I was told they're the best hospital and what I saw was far from it.
My mom called and told them about her situation. She was looking for a support group. The lady on the phone was horrible and kept telling her that she needs to go online. Why not have some patience to help her. She does not know how to work a computer and the woman on the phone just laughed at her. You think this hospital would have a little more compassion for cancer patients.
Thanks to all the kind staff in ER (Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Betz, nurses, custodians) for providing such thorough care Feb25-26/19. Although the whole process was so long because ER was especially busy (several gunshot wounded people were in ER), when I was tended to I felt that staff were all good listeners and kind with some humour to match mine. Thanks also to Dr. Brian Ballios in Opthomology for his patience and care with explanations of the eye that were truly fascinating. I was very nervous to get an MRI but the brand new machine and the attending technician (forgot her name) made me feel very relaxed. I’ve been to Sunnybrook ER in the past and it wasn’t as busy, but even though this particular visit was extremely long (17 hours) this is still the best hospital for me.
SHSC is Leader in Healthcare Services. Impossible is I'mpossible...at this place.
Their labor and delivery is beyond exceptional and excellent! Had my twin girls there. Best maternity and neonatal units!
Terrible experience. My fiance recently had given birth and our baby had been diagnosed with jaundice, extending our stay at the hospital for almost a week. I feel its safe to assume that the birthing ward (5th floor M wing) would have the best bed side services when dealing with newborns and furthermore new parents. However, nearly every nurse that provided care to our baby seemed extremely annoyed and irritated. Every request made by us made it feel as though we were a burden to the staff. From the condescending tones to the 45 minute wait for additional small blankets our baby had accidently pooped on all added up to this negative experience. Its worth mentioning that the ward was not busy as there was maybe 2 other newborns during our time there. The lack of communication between the nurses was horrendous. Constantly having to explain what happened the previous shift to the oncoming nurse was a reoccuring theme, making it apparent they do not brief each other during shift change. When finally being discharged, staff were not clear as to when we can leave, failing to inform us in a timely fashion we have been given the green light. It wasn't until our irritated nurse came to our room asking as to why we're still here, advising we're clear to leave 2 hours AFTER the initial notice. Sunnybrook dropped the ball terribly and I hope I never have to attend this location for further services in the future. Our only positive experience was the woman who brought food to our units. She was extremely kind and generous, ensuring we had enough supplies and food and would even notify nurses on our behalf. Sunnybrook I implore you consider re-evaluating your nursing staff to ensure those attending don't feel as uncomfortable as we did.
I was lucky enough to be there and deal with those people only twice, and perhaps won't ever visit there ever again! too disappointed. Basically you are the last thing that Doctors and nurses like to hear about. I prefer to go St. Mikes though it is fairly far from me than this hospital. People in there are really unfriendly and they are willing even to say a hi to you, put aside listening to you. I was in a major back pain for 10 hours in there, and no one really looked at me and no one wanted to talk to me ....
I have been having chest pain for 3 months now. I got stuck in an infinite loop between appointments, doctors and rapid access clinic( worst clinic ever). Nobody followups and when you call to inquire they are rude at times. Its been 3 months now and my health condition is still the same. They referred me to a heart specialist and did my echo stress test(after 1 month wait). I haven't seen the doctor yet after my echo test( 2 months now). I asked them to send me my report and the assistant said 'NO'(rude too). I had to fight with them to get my reports. Because of that they cancelled my appointment( on appointment day) and asked me to book a new appointment which was after a month.
Flu shot clinic - drive through. Thank you. A great process, fast, not confusing and very safe. We very much appreciated being able to book a times slot online beforehand. Well thought out. We hope you do it again, even if covid restrictions relax.
Great hospital and fairly friendly staff, but i am highly disappointed that they dont have food available for people with food bourne illnesses. My "gluten free" labeled soup had yeast extract in it, good thing i checked the ingredients. All that are available were bananas and apples.
My experience at Sunnybrook has been overwhelmingly disappointing. Cancer is not fun, Cancer with an uncaring surgical team, no follow up care, no follow up appointment or information. Just cut you open and send you on your way. Awful experience and I'm still going through it! And I was smart enough to opt out of Dr.Osbourne's surgery, who besides being abusive to women is a terrible surgeon, who is under review and not allowed to be alone with patients. I mean come on Sunnybrook why is he even still allowed to butcher women? I would never go or agree to medical care through Sunnybrook ever again, it will go down as one of the worst experiences of my life.
I have been here since Thursday July 27th 2017, first few days were fine, until I was moved into a ward with 2 other women. The women directly beside me has not gone 5 mins without her family or friends being here. They keep others from sleeping, snoring, showering, treating the hosptials High Risk Obsetretics ward like a hotel. I have complained because at this point I have had strange men and children come into my part of the room about 4-5 times now, and am sleep deprived. I don't feel safe, it's not comforting, and they live only 15-20 mins from the hospital. What is the policy with visitors? Is it not 8am-11pm? How has this been allowed to go on? I can leave the room when it gets to be too much, but my poor roommate is on serious bed rest and can't go anywhere. This is not fair!! (also had a horrible experience with staff in the High Risk birthing unit). Two very unprofessional women in particular, working in a place where kindness and a stress free environment are extremely important. Maybe you should be working in a prison not a hospital.
Wonderful staff. Everyone at Sunnybrook and other health care establishments are great caring people. Great Service This morning as always.
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this hospital. I spent a total of 14 hours in the emergency room and every singe staff member I encountered was so pleasant! The wait was long but obviously they can’t help that, and they were so kind and patient with everyone I saw them deal with. Dr. Hillier was absolutely amazing
Dose it's job vary well
Corona testing facility. Booked appt. Organized, efficient and kind helpful staff. In and out in 20! Thanks stay healthy.
Great Hospital, Staff, Volunteers, and Services..
Last year my father had bypass surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital. Due to this, I am so fortunate to receive the best Christmas present of all, my dad is alive and celebrating the holidays with me and the family.
From 3:30am the doctor will start 10am. One doctor for the whole emerge !!! Way to go Canada...
Poor organization of booking system for COVID vaccines. 86yr old request to register for 1st shot March 3. 3 weeks late email received with invitation to book an appointment. Michael Garron and other centres have way better person centred systems in place.
Terrible experience. Broken bones. Spent all day in emergency and I know it's a difficult place . Finally got xrays after 7hrs. Got air cast and knee brace. The older lady at the front desk in purple who did the admin stuff asked me to pay for the air cast. As I couldnt walk I wrote down my pin and gave her my card. She then shouted across the room:" is the number " ####??? " I said omg can you say that any louder? She snapped at me and said" do you want to walk here yourself and do it?" I was absolutely shocked. Mocking me and telling everyone my pin number .. the ortho doctor came to me around 1am and gave me the results of my xray. She said there is no reason I cant stand and go home. I told her and everyone else that my knee had hyperextended and that's why I fell. My muscles are the reason why I couldn't stand. They wouldn't listen but as I couldnt stand they finally admitted me. Nurses were lovely, they really work hard. But the room I was in was filthy. The bathroom in the room constantly smelled like urine....I was there for over a week. It was never cleaned and the floor was never mopped. Poor old lady had an accident and peed on the floor before getting to the bathroom. Nurses used bed clothes to mop it up but no one came to sanitize or clean it. I asked 2 nurses to call enviro to cean it and no one came. I was unable to wear footwear as I was swollen and had to walk over that spot to reach the bathroom myself. 3 ortho doctors saw me and all 3 gave me a slightly different story of my xrays. They also billed me twice for my knee brace which was broken to start with but said if I get another one i have to pay another 200 even though it was faulty.ive ended up trying to fix the thing myself. Really lost faith in this hospital.
Not behaving good at all. You have choice please go to other hospital.
Good infrastructure and the staff does the best to manage the load. It always feels like they are in a rush so come prepared with your questions otherwise you'll leave almost as you came. Parking can be a challenge for one off visitors and expensive. If you are planning to come often within a year it's better to get a parking pass, it will be faster and less expensive as most appointments run over 2 hours. I like the food offering in the food court.
Drs. And staff very friendly and helpful.
Had an appointment with a doctor (which also was my first time meeting him) at 2:15. I arrived on time. I expected a bit of a wait. However, my appointment was 2:15 and I waited well past 3pm and wasn't called. No one came out to tell me anything. I take wheel trans and needed to leave at 3:15. The receptionist was more than rude and proceeded to grab me in attempt to make me stay and wait longer; as if an hour wait wasn't enough. Absolutely disgusted at the lack of communication, and lack of human decency.
The best day experience ever. Thanks to all the doctors. They finally find out what was wrong with my sister. Thank you
No want is helpful there. My mom had surgery and she was at recovery centre. I called them and they said to go to D4 ICU and wait there. Waited 3hours and called D4 ICU ( you bed to call them before entering) and man answered phone call and said they just got the patient in their unit in really bad manner. Hung up and went to B4 and lady was helpful and called recovery centre and looking for mom and recovery centre said they don't know where they Weill send her to. (Why they are telling me now?) B4 reception lady said go back to D4 unit and wait and ask D reception later. Waited 1 and half hour and asked D4 unit reception and the lady said in rude way (first time asking her) saying she doesn't know. Why can't she find out for me? She keep saying she doesn't know... so rude. Anywhere I go, no help at all! Family is worrying and looking for the patient and no way to find out!!!!
Orthopedic head doctor never warned me about taking easy after cast was removed. As a result, I had severe tendonitis in wrist. For 1.5years I suffered at the hands of their "experts" with painful physio ice baths, cortisone injections -and finally they wanted to operate. It was so bad -I couldn't even take the top off toothpaste. Sunnybrook's modern medicine was put to shame when I went for a Shiatsu treatment. My practitioner took one look & said your problem is NOT the wrist -but the upper arm... He massaged the upper arm ligaments (which were pulling on the wrist tendons) and after 10minutes my tendonitis in the wrist was cured after a year and a half!!!
HORRIBLE HEALTH CARE!!! SIX DAMN HOURS TO SEE A DOCTOR WITH CHEST PAINS!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! INEXCUSABLE!!! SCREW YOU!!!! USA HAS BETTER DOCTORS!!!! ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I was taken here after a serious motorcycle accident that could have killed me. The doctors, nurses and other clinical staff in the ER trauma center were incredibly efficient and talented people who took very good care of me just moments after I arrived. The level of professionalism and communication between them was remarkable to watch, despite being in shock and excruciating amounts of pain. I can't thank them enough for what they did for me and want them to know I think about them very often (as I do about my accident, unfortunately). The folks up on 5C are a slightly different story. After being admitted, I was put in the hallway of 5C (trauma ward) for TEN DAYS. I was given the presumption that I would get a room which my insurance would cover- but this never happened. The bed was extremely uncomfortable with a very thin mattress which made dealing with my pain a literal pain in the a$$. Some of the nurses were very nice and others far from it. I tried not to bother them often, but not being able to move meant I had to count on them for things like food, medication and cardboard urinals. Some staff would leave me waiting for almost an hour before bringing me pain meds or a fresh urinal to use, and the privacy was almost non existent. The food was relatively good and I was pleasantly surprised about that. Only a few days into my stay I was pressured by the head nurse to start getting up and walking which was impossible as I had two fractures to my ankle, a large hematoma in my heel, a puncture in my shin as well as severe bruising of my hip and ribs, and issues with the rotator cuffs in my shoulder. Even lowering my leg a few inches would cause blood to fill empty spaces in it, which caused intolerable pain, even on medications like hydromorphone (a very strong narcotic). Eventually the physio team worked with me using a walker which I then transitioned from into crutches. I know the staff have a difficult job and that some people are more demanding than others. But I would implore them to be more understanding and kind as every little bit helps when you start to recover from such a traumatic experience. Having someone stay in a bed in the hallway is also very dehumanizing as it throws decency and privacy out the window. I'm sad that I was given the hope that I would get a room yet I never did. In my follow ups the staff at fracture clinic as well as other departments have been kind, understanding and accommodating. However I think there is some work to be done on a whole to improve the patient experience here.
I went to get an ultra-sound of my stomach here. The staff was very friendly and it was a good experience. I hope that I am not back soon, but, I thank them for their service!
Best hospital best Docs best staff
Do not go here for orthopedic surgery, Dr Hugh Cameron is the consulting physician and he is horrible. I waited 4 years to get in to see about hip surgery. Dr Cameron saw me for less than a minute! He bent my knee and said that my hips work fine. I was in a wheelchair and tears tears from the pain and he said that I was too young for hip pain. He refused to look at my x-rays or MRIs and told me to home.
Probably one of the worst experiences of my entire life. I went to get a COVID test here yesterday and what an absolute nightmare. The woman helping me was not in a good mood which heightened my anxiety. She raised her voice at me and waived her hand in my face because I didn't speak loud enough, even though I was struggling to speak clearly through my masks (2). She then proceeded to interogate me about why I even wanted the test, which I remain confused about. I was notified by someone I had indirect contact with that they tested positive, why do I need to provide documentation to get tested? Fear for mine and my families health is not enough of a concern to want to get tested? When she conducted the actual swab test, she was so aggressive and I know this because it's not the first time I've been tested, the other 3 times were uncomfortable, but gentle. I could taste the blood in the back of my throat by the end of it, but she just kept swabbing aggressively. I understand you're under a lot of stress but so am I and the difference is that you get paid to be there and shoulder the stress. Please work harder to ensure that patrons are comfortable and feel safe when they come to get tested because the thought of having the virus is terrifying enough. I wouldn't wish this treatment on my worst enemy and I was reluctant to even post this review but I don't want anyone else to go through this. Thankyou for reading.
Happened to visit Dr. Elisabeth Pek yesterday for the first time at the Rheumatology clinic. I was a bit nervous at first but after walking into that room I felt she was just amazing! She is a very caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, Doctor who listens to your concerns and addresses it by using simple language. I would highly recommend her!! Thank you Dr. Pek!!
It took me a couple of years to write this review. Having a new baby and being a nurse myself kept me truly busy but here it is!!! I had my daughter at sunnybrook!! I believe that we should be more supportive of nurses and the incredible work that they do. Therefore, even though I had a bad experience during my epidural insertion I will focus my review on my amazing nurse. My nurse was Laura (I hope she reads this review)!! She was amazing, caring and knowledgeable. She never left my side and supported/guided me through every contraction, she acted fast when me or my baby needed it. ! I could not be happier with the care that I received from her. Thank you for everything Laura !! Keep up the awesome work my family and I appreciate your efforts and everything you do to care for others ❤
Best Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic ever.
If you are really in cortical situation never go there... I have serious problems and excruciating pain waiting to see the doctor for 7 hours. No emergent pation or no prioritization... I am so sorry for evening shift too. I have been bleeding for almost 3 hours can’t sit and what nurse said was you should wait. Every hour they call 2 persons in. That’s how they going to take care you. One doctor on each zone. Worst nurs and so unpatient. She literally told me that you can not do the damn thing stop asking the question. Waiting for going for the x-ray amost an hour.
They do not have a covid mandate in place so you could be served by someone who is not vaccinated and by extention doesn't believe in efficacy or safety of vaccine.
Sunnybrook is an amazing hospital, very professional staff, the doctors and surgeons are very specialized, what more could one ask for from our healthcare system?
This is one of THE best hospitals we have ever gone to. They have not only taken care of us medically but supported us thru our thick and thin. We really appreciate every bit of it. We will never forget the care we got here at Sunny Brook Hospital. We would like to specially thank the NICU and Women and babies high risk. You guys are really making impossible into I am possible. This hospital has taught us a lot in our down times. Have given us Hope's and made them come true. We greatly appreciate your support and respect for us. Thank you is not enough. One of the best social workers has supported us from day 1 till now. Her name is Blaire. She is AMAZING. Hard working ,passionate, caring, and loving. She is the best. Thank you so much everyone in the Sunnybrook Hospital.
Two words I would use to describe this hospital are Thorough and Organized. I have had to bring my wife here three times, and compared with other hospitals in Toronto, the ER doctors are better listeners and more intent on critical problem-solving. (Thank you Dr. Bhandari) The nurses are compassionate and hard-working. Shout out to Norma in C6 who does the work of four people and stays positive. One drawback to this hospital is the wait times. While the care is thorough and professional, they seem quite understaffed. We clearly have the Ford government to thank for that ????
I've visited here to see my illness friend. I saw everything is good. Staffs were so friendly and helpful.
A first class hospital. The staff is kind, caring, and knowledgeable. Everyone is so thorough in everything they do. We are blessed to have this health care facility in our city. Thank you Sunnybrook.
Nice place
Excellent care numerous times . Orthopaedic Department & Anesthesiologist are top flight . ACL reconstruction: Dr. Paul Marks & his team and Dr. Taube. ???????? Nurses are amazing in post op recovery.
I came in because I wanted to kill myself the nurse I saw at triage actually made fun of me while she was admitting me
This is an awesome hospital - it is beautiful and the nurses were super friendly. During this stressful time, they were still able to deliver the highest quality care for their patients. I can’t express enough gratitude to the staff at Sunnybrook.
Irrespectable behaviour of the staff . Talking very rudely as well as always hurry to cut the call . Poor service by staff
Healthbound stay away!
Chaotic at times
I brought my friend to the emergency department on Monday evening, and after a long wait, she was finally seen & then had a CT Scan done to determine what was going on...The end result is that she was admitted immediately... While she was admitted to the hospitals surgical ward, where she remains today.. she is still on a stryker stretcher, in a patient lounge, no privacy, no call bell, should she need assistance, no bathroom. What happens if she worsens suddenly? Without exaggeration and to add to this misery, when I went to see her last night, there was a couple, in the lounge, enjoying a dinner, with wine & all... my friend is unable to eat or drink, and has to be subjected to this kind of rudeness because there is no bed available??? They didn't feel anyway about the fact that there was no privacy and then, she had another patients wife sleeping on the couch beside her. This is unacceptable to say the very least,
My partner was on a waitlist for months to see Dr. Renato for mental health concerns. Her doctor specifically stated in the referral what type of anxiety she needed help with. After waiting months we were relieved to finally get an appt. The appt was supposed to be from 9a-11a. The pyschologist sent her home within 35 minutes saying he could not help her. Not only did we waste our time and money going to the appt, he had no idea on what to recommend for treatment. This office should check referrals before hand and confirm if they can or cannot help prior to wasting people's time. They only handle for specific mental health issues. This was absolutely disappointing and for people waiting months to be seen to be sent away without any help or answers with so much time left in the appointment is not right. I hope they find better psychologists to help with all types of mental health issues.
Great hospital! Friendly staff along with vending machines if you need a snack ;) Large area, lots of parking (still crowded).
Bad customer service
My son was hit by a car and tossed into another - the folks there are amazing, that I feel is still understated - care is beyond anything I dared expect, staff are caring and Attentive, specialists approachable. I’m so glad he was taken there for care.
I have nothing but great things to say about this place, have treated me well and with respect.
My father was admitted to emergency about 3 weeks ago. After spending a day or so there he was then moved to the Medical Short Stay Wing C6(6C?) where he stayed for just over 2 weeks. I can only say the doctors and most of the nursing staff were excellent – helpful, informative, and pleasant. The desk staff however were abominable. Here is a place where people are in stressful situations and you would like to think they could be treated with at least a little bit of courtesy and compassion. Sadly, that seems to be the furthest thing from the minds of the desk receptionists that we met during our fathers stay. I cannot for the life of me understand how being rude to people can give you pleasure of make you feel good – so what is the point? Are these women really just so miserable or unhappy with their lives that they need to take it out on someone? When one has a job and you must spend a lot of time there, why not be pleasant? It would make the job so much better for all and after all – what you out – you get back. I would go the C6 desk to ask a question or to try and get information about my father and for example - one time I went a stood there, the woman was working on some papers - which I certainly understand - sometimes you just want to finish what you are doing, but she TOTALLY ignored me for the longest time - got up, walked away, came back, finished her paper work and THEN said "can I help you". Would it have been too much to simply say right when I walked up "I'll be with you in a second" or something to that effect. It’s not that difficult to be polite. And any time my sister or I asked for information about our father, we were told we would have to speak to the nurse who practically every time had “just gone on break”. It was unbelievable. We just think they can’t be bothered. That certainly seems to be their attitude. This sort of behavior is not very professional and it certainly does not speak well for the hospital.
Great Doctors unfortunately I do not recommend this hospital because of the rude support staff. Do not go to this hospital if you have a heart condition or high blood presdure and do not talk to anyone unless it's the doctor otherwise you will just have more problems the security guards are USELESS and are passive agressive to patients If you can see your doctor at another hospital it will be better. The security guards are rude the triage staff are rude except for one or two which makes no difference Do not talk to the security guard named Allen he says best wishes as a response to my complaint no acknowledgement ..... he just received a complaint.... if you can't solve a problem then at least acknowledge you heard and understood the problem. After clearly not understanding the problem he tells you you he can refer you to patient relations if you don't appreciate his sacarism.... Patient Relations is just a diversion and it is not clear to that they do anything... It's just a way to avoid a law suit.... and nothing changes or improves.... I don't understand why tax payers are expected to pay for this ..., I almost left the emmergency ward because of the Allen the FAKE security guard....,The Clown in a security guard suit. If you have a problem here call the police don't go to the security guards . If you can see your doctor at another hospital then do that!
Food isn’t very great, hospital smell is everywhere, waiting times are ridiculous. Staff are pretty nice though, but you have to say you have a problem with you head or you feel weak to get bumped up the list faster.
I had a satisfactory experience at Sunnybrook 4 years ago when my water broke very early. The nurses made me feel comfortable and they took good care of my premature son before he was transferred. I still remember Jessica, Samantha, Corrie, Susan and Dr Kroft to this day.
Been waiting over 5 months for cancer appointment and treatments ????
I dont know how express my happiness on Dr VICTOR YANG, An awesome man with extra odinary doctor # he take me back from death to earth♥️♥️????????????
I have had the great fortune to have received excellent diagnostic and therapeutic treatments at Sunnybrook Hospital, over the last twelve years, for my Prostate Cancer. I owe my health to the Sunnybrook care givers for the time that I’ve been given since my diagnosis due to the care of Dr. Hans Chung, Dr. Jay Detsky, their technicians and support staff.
Worst hospital, i came for my 35 week baby ultrasound no respect and worst attitude from the ladies behind counter they made me wait 2 hours to get in
Although it’s been at least six years since I was at the Sunnybrook dentistry department they have always been a great place to go. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m living in London Ontario now I would still be going to Sunnybrook dentistry department. Overall Sunnybrook Hospital is the best.
(Translated) Good hospital. The atmosphere is friendly, doctors are professionals. Thanks to all ^ Sunnybrook Health Science ^ employees for their wonderful work. …
Horrible experience here...
I was sent up to Obstetrics triage level M5. I was rudely half screened unprofessionally and rudely asked “why are you here?!” Simply because my doctor is not in this hospital. This is the closest hospital to my home and when in an emergency, ‘visit the closest hospital.’ Had I been screened properly, I would have been able to state why I was there at 29 weeks pregnant!!! The triage nurse was pushed over by the nurse on the other side of the sliding window. I instantly felt UNWELCOMED and would not have felt comfortable receiving care from the nurse behind the window. This day was horrible for me...I left feeling overwhelmed, light headed, and crying with my 8 year child. My child kept asking me “why won’t they see you?” I went home and fainted 2 more times before my husband had had enough and we had to make the trek to another hospital.
Many patients are attracted to this hospital from afar By its reputation for excellent service.
look, I get hospitals get busy but this, this was insane. it's September 3rd and I came into the hospital at 10pm cuz of a gash I got on my arm from a rusty nail. I was there for a tetanus shot. I sat waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours. fine, it happens. only weird part is no one else got their name called for that duration of time. I finally get called and get put into another waiting room. fine again. it's a hospital this happens. I waited for 3 more hours and never heard my name or anybodies elses for the entire wait. I saw elderly people ask what's going on. nurses brushing them off quickly. I don't know how a hospital works and how treatment of patients is organized but this was genuinely horrible. nurses were just there gossiping about stuff while people are laying around them waiting for anything. I finally left at 4am and never got to talk to a single doctor. Not one. not even a "hello". six hours and not a word. when I finally decided to leave and walked through the first waiting area, people who had been there before me were still waiting! I'm no Karen I don't like complaining about things unnecessary but this was a new experience today. a new type of frustration I never felt before. I felt disrespected and unheard. it sucked. I can't come to this place again seriously. it really was just insane. hopefully this is something others don't have to go through. just absolutely awful.
I was there for two days. I was triaged as priority due to the nature of the injury. Recieved thorough care. Every one of the staff were professional and friendly. I spend 1 day in the hallway because they needed the bed. Now federal and provincial funding is to blame for lack of bed space. Can not fault the hospital. As for the people complaining about taking 7 hours (at other hospitals and other times, I have also waited that long.) it's mostly because of a lack of after hours clinics. Also for those complaint about rude staff file out a patient complaint form RIGHT AWAY but be OBJECTIVE. I completely agree that there should be more resources for after hours medical needs in a developed country like ours. Review parliament or Queens park instead, give THEM a 1 star. However, that does not detract from all the wonderful people who work tirelessly to treat people.
During our stay, every person we encountered was fantastic. From the valet to Michelle at reception to friendly service in the food court to the pharmacy. Our specialist was amazing. Dr. Eng was prompt, courteous and personable. He made our unfortunate visit more relaxing. The hospital as a whole is well organized and very efficient. Thank you for the immediate and friendly care we received.
Excellent facility with top notch care. If you have any serious illness, this is the place you want to be. Excellent care, amazing grounds and ample parking.
Great Doctors and nurses, but the food hmmm
My husband had a fall and we decided to visit Sunnybrook's walk-in emergency services. I am glad we did. They have a great triage services... In and out took us about an hour and half. Addmiting him, taking a Xray and visiting by the doctor. Honestly I believe Sunnybrook's best hospital in whole Toronto.
The private rooms are spotless and the service is quite good!
The staff here are very helpful and knowledgeable. The doctors, nurses and technicians are among the best in the country. They have a pretty good cafeteria here too. If you don't want to pay the steep parking prices, there are lots of buses with 3 stops throughout the campus.
This place is awful, rude staff and the person answering the calls at the main desk just rushes you off the phone. Get someone who knows what customer service means and someone who can answer questions politely and not rush you off the phone. Would not recommend this place unless its your only option.
Fantastic care given by all nurses and practitioners. Nurses take a bit to respond to a call button, which is ok because they are over worked. Bless Miran for her wonderful help she gave me as my nurse. Genuine care, given by a wonderful caring person. She deserves a raise because my room brightened up when she came to see me. However, food services are absolutely horrible. If there is a head Chef, I believe he could be helped with a swift kick in the Balls.
Very nice place to visit. They give free Corona as well, quite the party scene. 10/10
The best hospital ever
Amazing staff and facilities! My wife stayed in the high risk pregnancy unit for a few days before delivering our son 10 weeks early. He stayed in the NICU for awhile too. This hospital was awesome thanks to all the staff for a job well done!
Best emergency department in Toronto. The doctors and nurses are caring, kind, and overall just really great! If I have a choice it's the only hospital I'll ever take my family to.
Terrible line ups to get in. Was picking up my sister from surgery had to wait so long for stupid covid questions although I am fully Vaxxed and mask on. Not necessary and inefficient.
Best hospital for absolutely EVERYTHING!! Hands Down!! ????????
At night, they only have 1 doctor in the ER Department. Expect 7+ hours of waiting at night.
I am disgusted with this hospital. The government should reduce their funding. Unfortunately I had to maintain 1 start no options for 0. I had a referral made I won't say what department because I'm terrified that they will treat me poorly for this comment. So much for free speech right!? I even created a fake Google profile to leave this review. Everything I say he re I can back up with text messages and phone calls and even my doctor. I had a referral made and for over a month apparently this fax machine my doctor had been making the referral to had been broken. Although my doctor has 7!!! Confirmed deliveries of the fax. I KNOW that it's impossible to confirm delivery to a broken fax so also sunny brook are disgusting dirty liars on top of it. I SHOULD NOT BE LIED TO IN REGARDS TO ANYTHING WITH MY MEDICAL TREATMENT. Even my doctor is sick to his stomach with the TREATMENT I've received or haven't received I guess. WAKE UP SUNNYBROOK. These are real conditions your screwing up on. What if I had been waiting for a cardiologist while you were screwing around with my referral and I suffered a heart attack?? Would you even bat a eye lash ? I don't think so. Bed side manor is not what it used to be. I have digitally uploaded text msgs from my health care professional and my self throughout this process and other digital proof of my experience. I would beg you to overhaul your employees and move into 2018 with the rest of the world. And before I'm asked to phone into the patient inquiries I would like to identify that I have already done so with no response back.
The wait time in emergency wasn't too bad considering I wasn't there for anything major. however the doctor treated me like I didn't know anything about my own body and tried to convince me that a stabbing pain in my chest was heartburn. As someone with a horribly greasy diet, I know all too well what heartburn feels like. and this was not it. But I was disregarded and again, treated like i didn't know anything. that was just the doctor though, the triage nurse and the registration girl were both really nice, and the assessment nurse who did my blood-work and ECG was super friendly and gentle. so all in all, not too bad, just a super arrogant straight outta med school doctor, who clearly didn't care about what a patient was trying to tell him.
ER: I understand there's covid-19 and that it's during the holidays. I am definitely grateful for Canada's health care system but the wait time is atrocious. I was here for a fever and abdominal pain and I waited 8 hrs to see the doctor. I was sent to do an ultrasound and to come back to the ER to get my results. It's been another 3 hrs and I still haven't seen the doctor, to get my results! In total I've waited over 13 hrs at this hospital to receive medical help. Why is the wait time so long? Because there was only 1 Emergency doctor working that night! And there's not enough beds/rooms to accommodate. Regardless, when I got into a room I waited another 2 hrs for the doctor to finish seeing me. SUGGESTIONS: Open more urgent care clinics for people who belong in the purple zone! Have more doctors working during the day and at night to reduce the backlog that spills over to the night staff! The doc that saw me didn't even introduce himself because he was run off his feet! He's burnt out!
Three of my children were born here and I received nothing but excellent care from all the doctors, nurses and residents. A special shout out to the delivery and post partum nurses - they were both caring and professional.
Angels definitely working here.. was taken here from a work place accident and nearly lost my leg my back and even above all possibly my life. The leg was shattered and could just have lost it and been with a prosthetic leg (I just wanted to keep my leg if it possible not to offend anyone with a prosthetic leg ..much respect to u) but as well as my back was a mess. They put it all together and am so tremendously greatful for all these people. Words or anything will not do them justice. From the neurosurgeon orthopaedic fracture and of course plastics a combined team that might as well of been the justice league superheroes of the medical world!!! and lets not forget the nurses..this group no matter what floor or division i got they all did their jobs with the upmost care and compassion, might even say altho they care for patients it is them who carry the patients...so much more I can say but I will just leave it with this group at Sunnybrook are a well oiled machine that doesn’t disappoint and after that they definitely deserve a 5.0 review:))
(Translated) Impressions from doctors and staff at the highest level! This is probably the best hospital in Toronto. They did leg surgery. Thank you very much to the mega doctors from the trauma department. …
Can I just note the uncaring nurses and mutiple mistakes they have made. Also, the way they fund the hosptial from the parking we have to pay while family members are ill?
In my opinion one of the top 5 hospitals in Toronto. This facility has great staff who are happy to help you and are always in a good mood, and great extra resources if you need it. I've been here a lot and every time it has been a great experience.
They did a good job with treating breast cancer.
Dr Michelle Hladunewich and her team they were incredible helpful. Dr Michelle comfort me with her love and support , I felt in that moment like she was angel. Its been a year now I am pretty much recovered and doing very well. Hospital nurses was ok .
I received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine at Sunnybrook. Everyone was kind, efficient, and extremely helpful. I was in and out quickly, without any problems or delays. They really have a very finely tuned system.
The veteran home
Parking is ridiculously expensive and the lot across the street that is suggested by everyone is always full. Got yelled by one of their volunteers when asking for a direction. Busy hospital as expected and so far, their staff service has been great.
3 visits in the past 3 months and so many issues every time. 1. NURSE LEFT me with list of patients and thier information in my room 2. Poor covid measures 3. Showed up 15 min prior to appointment and did get called in until 90 min after my appointment
Wonderful and caring nursing staff. They seem to hold it all together during the busiest and most demanding times. Hats off to them all - especially those working tirelessly at Odette Cancer Centre.
Very good experiences here. I've had surgeries,an MRI, testing and clinic appointments at Sunnybrook and all staff and doctors have been very helpful, kind and professional.
Came to Sunnybrook for their Walk In Pzifer vaccine today. There wasn't a big line up and everything went smoothly. Very organized and friendly staff. Today is the last day if your looking for Pzifer dose only. And they validate parking.
Fantastic staff
(Translated) In this hospital, God has sent me Angels dressed as doctors and nurses, to save my life on two occasions. Excellent care, excellent service to the patient and their families. May God pour out abundant blessings on …
The best place to be.
I love the staff at Sunnybrook. They were patient with me throughout my pregnancy, when I was in the high risk unit. I wanted to thank Karen( the best nurse in high risk pregnancy),Sam, Natalie,Mahaa, Charlotte, and Selina.
My girlfriend and I went to check if there was anything wrong with our baby after she fell. Waited for more than 3 hours without any information or update on when the doctor will be available. The staff is very polite but there seems to be no actual help or info provided. In an already stressful situation full of uncertainty, this is poor treatment of patients.
Worst waiting times in emergency, 3 hours for a pancreatic attack and I've only seen triage nurse just now and been sent back out to wait. Seems like there are only 2 people working and no one is moving so I guess if I keel over, I might be seen sometime this year
I recently went to Sunnybrook hospital for severe stomach pain. All the staff were fantastic! They had the patient’s best interest in mind. I had to be admitted for surgery, the nurses were so great, kind and advocated for their patients. The doctors were also great in making sure patients understood everything about the surgery, and made me comfortable just before surgery. I can’t thank the nurses, doctors and other staff at Sunnybrook enough for helping me through everything pre-op and post-op.
my dad was taken to emerg at sunnybrook and everyone was providing high quality healthcare service including the trauma md/neurosurgery resident and md, ortho md, everyone except the RN who was giving direct care- Siobhan Chao. she was rolling her eyes and even after asking her multiple times to clean up a wound on my dad's forehead, she wouldn't do it. Everyone was providing excellent care except for her. Very disappointed in her ONLY as I am a fellow RN myself. As a HCP, this is not the kind of nursing care I expect from sunnybrook.
It is a teaching hospital so there is lots of help there.
The hospital is well designed and maintained. The doctors are very friendly and knowledgeable. I found the over atmosphere to be positive and welcoming. I also found the pharmacists are really helpful as well, but the hours of operation for the pharmacy could be extended. Also, the cafeteria has a verity of choices for almost any appetite. Overall, definitely recommended.
Arrived to emergency 2.07am processed through triage and registration pretty quickly. It's 6.20am now and we are still waiting to be seen by a dr.
Absolutely Fabulous facility...hats off to the Odette clinic and ALL staff Always surrounded and supported by a full pleasant excellent Team
WORST hospital I’ve been to, nurses are rude and let you know they don’t want you/or themselves to be there by their lack of sympathy, they talk down to you. this is a job for them, nothing more, had an emergency surgery and was transferred to them, didn’t have anything ready, I live alone and I am on financial assistance and had no way of getting back to my home base which I was transferred from, they said figure it out, your discharge time is you discharge time. I wouldn’t recommend ever going here, go somewhere else, equipment dirty (CT machine) looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years, bathrooms are not cleaned in the trauma unit, I can’t believe in 2019 that’s what we call health care, a restaurant wouldn’t pass these inspections how can a hospital?
The burn unit staff and students were amazing! Really attentive and soothing. Sent home healing well. Even the food was good. I am very glad I was transferred there.
got my Covid vaccine on Sunday, appointment was for 5:50 and I was vaccinated by 5:52. staff were super friendly and I had no problem with parking, which can sometimes be a pain with hospitals. will be back in August for second dose!
I'm so disappointed with the service. Nurses are mostly rude and inconsiderate, some didn't even know how to do their jobs. Doctors spent 10 mins a day talking to you hearing what they wanted to hear with no results. one of the most horrible hospitalization I have ever had. They treated mental health patients like we are worth nothing. very disappointed. last but not least, some nurses had a touch of racism. NOT COOL!
Thank you for all your hard work in keeping us safe, thanks to your families who has sacrifice so much so that a lot of us could be safe during this pandemic THANK YOU!!!!
Staff are terrific. Professional and clean. Parking not the best.
Been sitting here for many hours ! Wht dose emergency mean at this hospital?! Nurses were nice but they don’t care you coming with the back pain you can sit on a plastic chair for 5 hours! If I could give them zero start I would do that .hate being at the hospital in canada , period
I was in to be seen by Dr. Paul H. Marks, an orthopedist. We, church pastors, are on time, and prepared to see the doctor immediately. I and my wife were first (9am and 9:30am) to be seen by the doctor because we were rear-ended in an auto accident. As we walked into the clinic, he told the receptionist to jump "his patients" ahead of the insurance patients (us). We waited for more than one and a half hours, and saw too many people jumping the line. I had enough of this b.s. So I confronted the receptionist, but this doctor jumped and yells at me to "leave" and that "I don't care." Later, he wrote a report that says: "he was initially quite belligerent. This is because they were waiting some 25 or 30 minutes." I happen to keep the copy of my parking receipt for insurance claim. And the parking receipt says 2 and a half hours (had to pay $16). Dr. Marks is a terrible doctor whose examination was just a joke, and liar who brings in his professional lying into his practice. Stay away from this guy!
Wow this hospital is the best all staff and doctors are amazing Im greatful to have such place as a haspital. I was there on sunday in so much pain the Ambulance come for me. INHUMANE Doctor aka Dr. B, at Gastro Department. HE LET MY HUSBAND DIE SLOWLY ! He rejected my Canadian born husband ( my husband that is hard working and a tax payer ! ) Dr. B's dumb excuse is my husband's address is Markham, Ontario" . By the way he book us before and now he is lazy to do his job or he don't know how to do it! Anyone in Ontario dying or in too much pain specially a Canadian should not be treated inhumane or rejected by a Doctor who IS NOT DOING HIS JOB AND CHOOSING HIS PATIENT! Yes the system is corrupt. We will still complain and ask the Government's help or anyone to remove these kind of Doctors who rejects a Canadian, Ontario Resident who is slowly dying! BEING A DOCTOR IS NOT ABOUT HOW GOOD YOU MEMORIZE SCIENCE BOOKS ! BUT HOW YOU HELP A PERSON IN NEED . Actual work, not just in papers !
I would not like to visit this place for any treatment. However I like their location. It’s really a huge set up, and they seem to have brain research centre for the old generation. She would love to have a tour to see the facilities that they offer, with her family.
STAY AWAY FROM CARDIOLOGIST DR LASHEVSKY I've sat here and really thought about posting this. I've never had to leave a negative review anywhere. But honestly, Dr. Lashevsky is extremely rude and doesn't care for his patients, but he's very sweet to his secretary though, that was very clear. I just didn't have the same experience. Always late, frequently hangs up on patients. The last two times I had the pleasure of speaking to them I was left in tears with absolutely no help offered and chastised for the fact that I missed an antibiotic on a massive list of medications he told me to read on my own and then hung up on me. Furthermore, I keep seeing these reviews that speak of reassurance. I requested if I can be provided in writing that it is okay for me to take the vaccine with LQT however instead of reassurance I was told he's "not an insurance company" in what universe is that professional or reassuring? I brought valid concerns to the table. He told me I was getting my news from social media and there are no concerns with hearts and the vaccine. "As part of the careful monitoring of these vaccines, reports of rare cases of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the tissue surrounding the heart) after immunization with mRNA COVID-19 vaccines continue to be reported in Canada and around the world." <-- That's off the canada gov website and not facebook. But hey you can always just tell me to find another cardiologist and hang up. That's the solution to all unruly patients. Atrocious. Rude and dismissive.
My grandmother has been at this hospital a few times. Once for a major heart surgery 12 or so years ago and this year when she had a minor heart attack. I have to give a huge credit for the Cardiology Department and the staff in the D wing, 3rd floor for their care and how pleasant the staff is, especially the nurses. It's reassuring to know that even with our public healthcare system, you do not need to worry about quality of care at a hospital. However, I have a huge problem with how some doctors thinking they're too good to do a "nurses job" since they're above that. While waiting in the Orange section in Emergency, my grandmother's blood pressure cuff was removed to be taken for an x-ray and when she came back it was not put back on. I asked the resident cardio doctor if she can do it before she left the room and she responded with "oh ya we will get that done" - are you kidding me? I ended up doing it myself. The audacity to go out of one's way to phrase a response in that fashion is beyond me. I cannot stand people that think they're too good, and in my opinion it's worse when it ends up being a colleague's position. So minus one star.
Large hospital, welcoming staff, ttc buses 11 & 124 both take you inside which reduces the walk. Explored multiple wings during my stay (M - Main, F - Mental Health, K & L - Cancer) and checked out their diverse food options. Highly recommend taking ttc for appointments or to visit loved ones since you get dropped off at the front entrance of the hospital.
Waited there for 12 h in emergency to see a rookie dumb doctor that didnt do anything
A big thank you to the gentleman that worked in the MRI department. He was very kind, patient and explained everything ahead of time. Anna was also amazing. They made an uncomfortable situation manageable. Thank you so much! 10.25.21
worst experience ever. i have an emergency and i'm waiting from last 5 hours and no one listening me seriously????
We live in a rural area in Ontario. My wife has been sick for a year . We were lucky enough to get a referral to two amazing doctors. We have more tests, but they sent her away with some hope. I wish we could have seen these doctors last year she may have been better sooner.
Shoddy E R service within Covid 19. Medical staff have become lazy with other medical emergencies except traumas arriving by ambulances. They refuse to call, doctors-on-call for the selected medical problem. All hospitals have all specialty doctors on-call 7 days a week. This particular hospital said,sorry-there isnt a dermatologist on call, which was a lie.
Been to Sunnybrook many times never had an issue with the care they provided, however my brother was just recently hospitalized and is in ICU I called for an update to see how he is dong the nurse was very rude and wouldn't even say a quick'he is doing fine or not' she just said someone already called and you guys need to figure out one person to be the contact as we update only one person and hung up on me - however yesterday when he was admitted both my mom and grandma called and that lovely nurse had no problem giving both of them info
Great service. Bad food
My dad was a patient of the Odete cancer centre. From the first day we met with Dr.Liu he has been amazing. He truly knows how to talk to his patients and family. Thank you Dr.Liu you are an amazing human being. The world needs more doctors like you!
My mother had to visit the Odette Cancer building for a surgery that was not expected back in Dec 17. I have no words to explained how pleased I was with everyone that I had to meet on my way to my Apt. All the way to the Surgeons that operated my mother on her lip.Very nice and caring Staff. Three times I had to visit the building and all this three times I was amazed with the caring of the Staff. And on top of everything today I had to call to speak with a Skin nurse I had to wait a while but not worried I had an amazing respond back , very quick on there reply I had Dr Avery calling me and from there all was very quick. Very Very happy with all the attention to the situation. Thank you to all the Staff at Odette Cancer Center.
Cause ok
Worst experience of my life!!! My husband and I were there to have a biopsy done, waited over an hour and finally a PERSON(NURSE, DR, maintance person??) walked into my room, mask on, no gloves, no ID and no introduction, poked me in the face a few times then proceeded to chastise me. So unprofessional, I walked out. I have never received a call from the Dr since and would rather do without the surgery needed then ever step foot in that hospital again.
Sunnybrook hospital saved my life, my two grandchildren were born in this hospital Thank you
It's one thing to send people to knock on people's doors and ask for donation... But it's another when these people are clearly acting out of selfishness, refusing to give you any further information until you sign a pledge to donate, or try to pressure you into pledging your donation through them, and them only.
Been there a lot over 40 years. First with my husband's heart issues then my breast cancer then my heart issues plus side trips for minor things like lymphodemas arthritis grandsons nirth defect etc etc etc. At one time it was out go to jtrhionsl hospital bit is no more but I still go back. It has become such a huge modern plscr. On the whole have always found the staff very caring I remember one time after cancer durgeryy doctor told me of this Dr ice that would make it easier to sleep I was unable to find it.nexy thing I knew he called me at home to draw he had found one in California and had ordered it for me!Apparently movie stars with all their face lifts etc used it a lot so it was quite common there. I do miss the old Sunnybrook at times with it's quaint ice cream parlour and cute little post office and the economical dorm rooms with no air conditioning where one could stay quite cheaply. I do wish considering it's size that they would make a small area where Rvd could park.o have sern this don on the UD. Those with self contained RVs who are undergoing sustained treatment such as chemo canlive in their RV during the week.
Gave my daughter the wrong medication after we said no way no how do you give her Ketamine you know special K horse tranquilizer. They did other tbings wrong
I have been a patient of Dr. Andrew Loblaw for several years and I am very impressed with his knowledge, his approach and his willingness to listen to my wishes. He is always willing to answer my questions, share more detail if I need it …
Horrible. I spent 3 hours there to get stitches on my eye brows and i could not get it done. They let me bleeding on thr corner like a Pig. Nobody even cared to come and clean up or any doctor assessment for 3 hours. I have nothing but hate for this place.
I have been in the emergency department for 4 days and 3 nights. Still lined up in the hallway but others that have come after me are upstairs. The nurses disappeared from there stations. Since i am in the hallway there is no call bell. Nurse gave me my meds and didn’t even know the name of all the pills and she listed some and said I don’t remember the names of all of them but they are the owns you are supposed to get. I even told her that she was missing one of the sleeping pills. She realized at 11:03 pm that i was right she never gave one of the meds. I waited the night before for 1.5hours to get my nurse to take me to the bathroom. The student that was working with her came finally and he took me to the bathroom. Thank you Yahya for taking me to the bathroom.
Went to emergency, they left me waiting in emergency with no food or water for 2 days.
How is it possible for a patient to have to wait 10 hours to be seen by the doctor .... the result of a fall in work ... it was necessary to be in the emergency room 20 hours to know that 3 ribs had broken .... a terrible service!????????????
Very bad experience with some office staff in the hospital!!! I was referred to the hospital for a dental problem by my oral surgeon end of March '16. I waited for more than two weeks but nothing happened. Finally I called them to follow up and got a chance to see a pathologist on April 22nd. Then I was booked at 3 pm May 3rd to see an oral surgeon. I took half day off and managed to arrive at the hospital 10 minutes before the appointment. Surprisingly I was told all appointments of that oral surgeon was cancelled because he's off for some time. What a joke!!! I took half day off, spent time on the road, paid for parking but ended up with nothing! Why did not the office staff call me in advance for the cancellation? They do have my contact info in their system! Based upon my personal experience with the department so far, I strongly believe office staff in that department really do not care about patients like me. Is it because I am just ONE OF their patients they see everyday?!
In December I went for my Covid test, and was feeling very ill (as it turned out, I had Covid). I felt extremely faint once I finally got to the front of the line and as I was showing my health card information I started to pass out. They immediately put me in a wheelchair and wheeled me out for fresh air. They helped me back inside to use their washroom and hooked me up to their machines to take my vitals and gave me apple juice. I was monitored for quite a while with a few nurses and they managed to complete my Covid test. I was also offered to be taken to the Emergency department. They told me to call them when I got back home to make sure I was safe and even paid for my cab ride home. The whole team was so caring and professional - huge shout-out to the nurses, Covid staff, and security guard! Thank you! (I wanted to give a particular shout-out to the blonde, female nurse helping me but I'm completely blanking on the name! Sorry!)
very nice hospital , excellent care and staff
WORST HOSPITAL i was in a motorcycle acident and cant walk i was transfered here from Richmond hill and was told sonny brook was the best place for me to be ,they run a ct scan ,2 MRI'S and cant tell me whats wrong with my leg the phyisio lady Bonnie tried to help me and i couldnt really move then she pretty much told me to force myself in the wheelchair so i can start being mobil ànd i did until i couldnt take the pain 2 hours late they say there shipping me to etobicoke general to be closer to home witch is still just as far from home and i have no choice and im still not able to walk or stand and they say i dont need help from them after 2 doctor said i shouldnt leave her till ive had my nerve testing done and i should be able to sit stand and walk by myself neways alot of the nurses are good but the hospital is a joke sending a person that cant walk away with no answers
This was the worse hospital ever, the reception was empty I wait for more than 3hours and I couldn’t see any doctor, so I went to another hospital. Dont lost your time at this place
The emergency room is ridiculous! My wife, who is breastfeeding a one- month old baby waited for 5h in the emergency room until finally someone started caring about her. If you are not dying, don't go there. Otherwise you will die of waiting... what a terrible hospital!
had my vaccines done there. They were very kind and understanding. I was nervous at first (scared of needles since forever), but the nurse was reassuring and made it quick. I was walk in and there were a few people in front of me, but the line moved in very quickly. Very efficient. Thank you!
very good hospital!
Great
Came to emergency last night. 8 hours of wait and aside from bloodwork, did not even meet a doctor. Finally went home at 3:30 in the morning out of my own will because I hadn’t eaten for 8 hours and was dizzy. Asked if my blood results would be available for my family physician at least and nurses didn’t know/bother asking around to find out. If ultrasound shows I need a cholecystectomy - I know what hospital to avoid. If you have the choice, go anywhere else. It’s sad that the only recourse I have is to write a google review. This is why nothing improves.
I was in the ER with a wound and was very impressed with the professionalism and excellent service I received. I am also a health care professional and very much appreciated the compassion as well. Thank you to the front line staff who attended to me!
One word warm welcome
This hospital has a serious problem withe a group of named Healthbound who are some of the creepiest snake oil salesmen I have ever met. After my accident I was bombarded with calls and visits from them as I found out my Doctor, Dr Sagar Desai passed on my personal info to them. When I called him to complain he said that I consented. How does one consent under IV narcotic? He said he would only treat me if I went to them as they were the best. No thank you! The hospital said that he can refer to who he wants as he's not an employee of the hospital. I'm thinking he owns the clinic. What happened to protection of patient info under the privacy act?
Fantastic staff, excellent care and awful food. Special mention to Dr. Mark Sinyor and Dr. Sheldon Singh and extra special kudos for the Angels who walk among us (Nursing Staff). If I gave you a 5 what would you work towards? mainly you lost points on the food.
Staff in cariolody unit are extremely friendly and provided great care for my grandfather. Only complaint is food options/quality. This is extremely limited - especially for those with more complex dietary needs.
Went to see "Dr." Ford for an insurers examination. Explained I have written mask exemption. He forced me to wear a mask against my doctors orders in writting, which he received prior to my appointment. He threatened my motor vehicle accident claim and stated the only exemption was an acute major burn, and yes I have all of this in writting from his secretary, I doubt he knows that she sold him out. He compromised my assessment that day by forcing me to wear a mask and therefor my claim. It has been discovered that I have thyroid cancer, multiple tumors, metastasized, which explains my difficulty breathing when I wear a mask. He wouldn't accept me wearing a shield either. Is Sunnybrook responsible for this now, or this so called doctor directly? P.S. he also wasn't truthful in his report and that can be proven as well. I believe all of this happened to me because of my inability to wear a mask as per my own doctor. I feel that I was treated differently and mistreated, at the very least.
THANK YOU for saving my mother's life, it was a great service . my mother had a brain stroke , Dr. Da Costa , the female doctor from Australia who prepared for surgery , the nurses , the paramedics ( super men ), 911 operator ( an angel ), the anesthesiologist , no exceptions. GOLD STANDARD. THANKS a million . No five stars ,because I can see signs of decline , from corporate influences to the wrong hiring of staff , corruption seeping to every aspect of our lives in the post-Christian western world , unfortunately .
Very good and professional staff, they care very much, my husband was hospitalized there couple of times and I noticed that they very caring, they respect the patients and their family, they understand the emotional stress of the patients, very good hospital and caring staff. But yes emergency waiting time is too much, specially when a patient needs immediate care, Odette centre staff is very helpful, Dr, Bjanrson is a wonderful doctor, Dr. Karanicolas and Dr. Matt are very nice , God bless them, I am very grateful for all of these doctors.
Best hospital in all of Ontario, at least that's what I think lol
Proper patient care is the top priority for the staff at Sunnybrook Health sciences center. Many lives were saved here and the ongoing research is also focused on saving more lives and serving better.

My father had the worst experience at Sunnybrook hospital today. He went in for a major back surgery and received no care at all when he went to the SSU. He was neglected by all the nurses working that shift for hours and was not even checked on to see if he was okay post operation. He was told that he has to move himself from the stretcher to his bed right after the surgery, taking place in unit SSSU. Given the current pandemic and circumsatnce during this time where the family is not there to provide consistent checks on the patient, my father, in need of the nurse's care; He should have received the proper care he needed after a surgery like this especially that all patients in the same unit were given the appropriate care that they deserved. My father was in severe pain and couldn't move himself but was told that he would receive no help, rudely. This hospital needs to check that all nurses do their jobs properly. We requested that he would be discharged same day so he can survive the night with appropriate care at home, which was supposed to be given without request at the hospital. I would also like to mention that the recovery unit was excellent and were very attentive to my father's recovery post operation. So was his first back surgery that took place October 2019. Today's patient miss-care is unacceptable.
I have been in the ER for 7 hours and I didn’t see a Dr. It’s inhuman….
Much more organized and streamlined than the Michael Garron hospital, but less technologically advanced than the new Humber River Hospital. Found the staff there quite helpful.
My family Dr (who is great) gave me a referral to the ENT department in the hospital, to further discuss sinus and nose issues I had been having. At the same time, she also gave me a prescription for a nasal spray. She said to me, if the spray works and you are feeling better, you don't need to go to the ENT appointment. So after a few weeks, the spray was alleviating some of the issues I was having. I decided to call the ENT as a courtesy to say that I did not need the appointment. I called many times, with no answer. I left 2 voicemails explaining my situation and saying that, on the recommendation of my Dr, I did not need the appointment. I never heard back from them. Months later, my sinus issues are back and the spray is no longer helping. I called my Dr to get another referral for the ENT to explore my issues further. I get a call from my Dr's receptionist saying the ENT department is refusing to see me because I missed my previous appointment. I was in shock. Not only was I simply following the instructions of my Dr, but I left 2 voicemails saying I didn't need the appointment at the time anymore. So then I had to go back to my Dr. As soon as the medical student opened my file, he made a comment saying "you made someone in the ENT department angry." So now I know that a note has been made in my file. So they had to find me an outside ENT referral, since the Sunnybrook one is "refusing" to see me. Now I have to travel somewhere else in the city to see a specialist, and I have some kind of note in my file labelling me as "difficult." I understand that our health care system, especially at a very busy hospital, is extremely difficult to coordinate and manage, especially from the administration side. I know that they see hundreds of people every day and the drs, nurses, and admin staff are constantly trying to balance everything. This situation however, is absurd. And I feel the need to document what has happened. I was simply following the orders of my Dr. I have done nothing wrong. But still they are punishing me by refusing me service, inconveniencing me, and delaying me getting treatment. My concern is that this is a common practice with other patients as well. I hope that the right people are able to assist with this situation and find a way to help solve this problem.
The doctors , nursing and the cleaning in there are the best ????
I am in palliative care unit. I would expect all the stuffs are nice to people. Especially in palliative care unit, the patient and families deserve to have a good environment and good attitude from the stuff for the rest of the life. BUT, THERE IS ONE LADY WHO DELIVERED FOOD TRAYS ALWAYS HAS BAD ATTITUDE. NEVER SMILE, AND IF YOU ASK HER TO PUT TRAY ON THE OTHER TABLE, SHE IS NOT HAPPY WITH THAT, BUT I DON'T WANT HER TO INTERRUPT THE PATIENCE WHEN SHE IS SLEEPING. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED.
The hospitality from the staff is worth appreciating. They are polite, humble and knowledgable. Also the rooms are clean and decent.
Went for vaccine shot and all the staff were incredibly nice from check in to vaccinator. First time coming to this hospital and I am rather impressed, definitely a better hospital than the other ones i have visited in the past.
Came here on a school field trip to the P.A.R.T.Y. program. Had a great your of the trauma bay.
WORST hospital ever!! Took my friend to this hospital yesterday because she's having bleeding, waited for 6 hours and we came home without Proper treatment, the intern who attended her seems like doesn't know anything, and just saying that they don't know if the baby is still alive or not. Just kept on repeating the history taking. They just order to have UTZ but it has to be done in the morning, they didn't even bother to give any treatment for the bleeding. And now again we call an ambulance because she's having a profuse bleeding, but since she arrived at ER nobody care to check on here, the staff doesn't care at all!!! It's like they are just letting the baby died in her tummy!!!
the covid-19 testing center was quick and efficient
ZERO STARS IS NOT AN OPTION? My grandmother ended up in Sunnbrook Hospital after she was (mis)diagnosed with pneumonia. She was admitted to Wing B, 4th Floor (a respiratory unit) under the care of a disgruntled doctor named Dr. Norris. I am not sure if our our experience was a systemic problem in the hospital OR if it was just isolated to this specific unit - but the doctors, nurses and staff on this floor were TERRIBLE. They walked around angry, bitter, defensive and resentful of patients and visitors to the unit. Two "winners" in particular was a nurse named Florence (incompetent) and Alex (female nurse) who made us feel so uncomfortable while visiting our grandmother. Florence told a family member to accept that my grandmother is dying (by the way, she is home and has made a remarkable recovery with private care givers). No compassion or care. Also, finding a doctor to speak with on the floor was next to impossible. In addition to the pervasive negative attitude, the place was filthy. There appeared to be an elderly Asian woman cleaning (in addition to performing nursing duties???) who would frequently walk around spitting into a napkin - in a RESPIRATORY UNIT!!!! It was unbelievable. We had a terrible experience and I feel so sorry for anyone (especially someone elderly and vulnerable) who ends up on that wing. Our system is broken and Sunnybrook is a prime example of why we need to privatize our healthcare system.
So did a Corona test there since I've symptoms. Been calling and emailing non-stop to get my 4 digit code to see the results.....they are not answering, but I'm giving 5 stars anyway cause they are risking their lives for the society and at the end of the day there is so much they can do.
Excellent medical care. In my case, due to an intoxication with rotten food
I was admitted into Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center, with chronic pain and constipation, the emergency department staff really took care of me that day and admitted me the same day. i didn't have to wait long to see the doctor i was brought in right away.
We came at 1:30am, by 6:30am still have not seen a doctor, and did not get a bed, still in the hallway though there are empty rooms. The doctor made an error with the prescription and when I realized this I was told to wait until they are asked to 'confirm' (plus my info is already at Sunnybrook's family practice). Having worked in various hospitals and health care environments, can't help noticing how this place is run extremely inefficiently and without any cultural sensitivity (it looks like the elderly suffer the worst from their stupid and inefficient processes).
I have had great care. But even though I'm only 53, a doctor there wouldn't look at me or call me by name. She kept insisting on "Elderspeak", slow, singsong, loud sentences and calling me "Dear". I'm not hard of hearing and I don't have dementia. I wrote patient concerns and they agreed that a person shouldn't be spoken to that way at any age, the assumption shouldn't be helpless or incompetence. Unfortunately the doctor didn't tell me her name when I asked, and it wasn't the regular doctor so I couldn't go back and talk to her to deal with it face to face and I was in the middle of a procedure so couldn't deal with it better myself at the time.
Nurses have very bad attitude and does not care about patients human rights especially nurse Akhtar and nurse Edgardo
Busy hospital.
I have ovarian cancer and had my surgery last week. The surgeons were great and the drs but patient care was terrible. I got sick the 1st night the nurse just put a towel around my neck and that was it. I slept in my own vomit and when i had to use the washroom I pushed my button to ask for help nobody came pushed it again they hung up on me. If it wasnt for my nighty nurse coming to do my vitals i dont know what i would have done. It was very traumatic for me having major surgery and to be treated like that and all alone. Visitors were only aloud 3 hours a day and you were aloud 2 but they had to come at the same time.
Excellent care
I would like to thank Dr. Rogers And his burn unit and thank you for everybody else to help me out I’ll never forget you and what you did for me thank you
They are specialized on maternity with great doctors and caring staff. Immediate responders for emergencies.
emergency...i hate it
Great health center.
wonderful people. However do not try to phone them on the weekend. MRI department only answers phone Monday to Friday. Tried to cancel my appointment on a Sunday. I guess they will figure it out when i do not show up
The staff has been friendly and helpful for the few times I have had to go there. The work done today was heroic. After seeing all that. Would have no problems going there for any future medical tests or visits. ????
One of the World’s best hospitals. They perform medical miracles here.
(Translated) I was admitted to sunnybrook hospital Saturday, April 13 at 3am. I was immediately taken care of. The staff very attentive and kind to welcome, emergency all without exception. Sunday 3 am I was transferred to the 6th …
Great place to visit, accessible location, also accessible by both public and private transportation. Clean environment, plus accessible parking.
Waited 3 hours! When I told them i cant wait any longer and i am going home, they said we will still bill you $800!! Unbelievable!! Third world country!!!
Slow...
Like many people have said I wish I could just give this place zero stars. The level of apathy the staff have blows my mind. I know doctors and nurses are overworked but somehow in every other hospital they still manage to have some empathy. I unfortunately brought my mother to the emergency department here and after waiting for almost 5 hours we were told to come back the next day for an ultrasound because there was nobody available to do it. Also bear in mind that my mother did not have OHIP as she was visiting me from abroad. She paid $1000 just to be seen by a doctor after five hours of waiting, and then with the utmost apathy he just said he doesn’t know what’s wrong and she needs to come back the next day and pay another thousand dollars. Whether she has insurance or not is a irrelevant, what matters is that not everyone has $2000 to drop on medical expenses just to be told to come back after hours of waiting in pain. Clearly they seem to think that tourists aren’t a priority regardless of the ridiculous amount they charge just to be seen by a doctor. She was never offered any pain medication, she just sat there and cried in the waiting room for five hours.
I spoke with a telephone operator this morning, she was very rude and unhelpful. I think the management of this hospital has to pay attention to their customer service department because they are representing the hospital very badly. I would give less than a star if I had the option. Thanks.
It is so sad that the whole place is so disorganized. Their Mychart compared to other hospital's is so unprofessional, multiple attempts to get signed up and error massages. The doctors might be the best but the whole place needs some good leadership here...
Careless Staff.
Very nice staff, great cancer centre, parking is a bit pricey
They almost killed my son. We took my son for a stomach pain and he ended up in intensive care and almost died. They never contacted me. No one would disclose anything until I demanded to know what happened. The head doctor then showed me the Xray and told me that my son was administered too much IV fluids, approximately 82% of his lungs were filled with water. I cannot begin to explain here the heart-wrenching experience we had with this hospital. Another patient and a kind nurse [not my son's nurse] saw how broken we were and told me confidentially what they witnessed. I gave them my word that I would not disclose their names. I am a Christian woman and I thank God for saving my son's life. Please note: That generic "Response from the owner" is useless. At the time, I reached out to the Admin and the CEO Barry McLean who did not care and did not help.
I’m 17 years old with a foot injury, first thing I here is we’re gonna try not to cut your foot off, I tell them I can’t sleep they do nothing, it took them 20 minutes to respond to my nurse call and there food is terrible
Everything is organized, and accessible if you ask
Lovely hospital! Whoever gives Sunnybrook a rating of one star is a loser.
Poor care and wait times for such a large well funded hospital even for big donation funds. (some of the best nurses make the difference)
I want to thank Dr. Courtney for doing a great job putting my stent in at Sunnybrook Hospital. I had a 95% block in my main artery. When Dr. Courtney introduced himself he told me that he would making sure the stent being install would be done to it's best and there was nothing I had to worry about. He really did do a great job with his team. After the procedure, Dr. Courtney came to see me in recovery and was very open to answering my questions. I had further questions the following day and he was very quick in responding. I want to thank Dr. Courtney for communicating details very well to me, his professionalism and a successful stent procedure. I strong recommend having Dr. Courtney for this procedure you will be happy. Mike R.
Highly skilled and respectful staff treated an injury I had seen several other health care professionals for who gave me useless advice. I'm completely recovered and will always be grateful to this hospital.
extremely bad service, my wife was there for a check in on her intense pain in the face which was more pain than i've ever seen in my entire life, not only did she have to wait 6 hours but she was sent home and no reason was given, the staff even told her off for asking to get some pain relief during this time, no check up were made. if you are in need of help dont go here, if you're a hobo and have no place to stay the night this is the place for you, be prepared to be horrible treated and not get help to fix the problem, if you care for yourself keep away from this place, this was the worse hospital i've ever seen, a clinic does more to help
Outstanding care service and professionalism, our family has been patients of the family practice for over 20 years with Dr Elman and Nicky. They’ve supported us from planning our family, delivering our two children, physicals, regular care treatment to emergencies. We stayed at the hospital during emergencies and trough different areas if specialties, their approach is always driven towards the highest standard of care regardless of the specialty, test or procedures or simply visiting friends or family. Definitely prime institution of highest standard of care. Julian and Fiaza Orlotti
Helped kill my friend with terrible care why work at a place like this if you don't want to help ppl you should be ashamed of yourselves RIP James Mcmurter
I have to admit, my initial review was bad. And that was not fair, I wrote it while in pain, and frustrated, and that's a really really bad time to write a review. I appreciate the assistance. It was a long wait, but I have no idea what it takes to run a hospital, particularly during a pandemic.
The WORST. Avoid this "hospital". If I could give a 0 star rating, I would. The staff have absolutely no interest in patients and the doctors have no integrity. Outright liars! This "hospital" should be investigated by the Ontario government for its poor management and complete lack of accountability. Unbelievable that a place with such bad medical care exists in a first world country.
Just called about my brother who is there for brain surgery on Friday and the woman I spoke with sounded as though she really hated her job...very rude! I certainly hope that the people caring for him are more positive and happy around him!
Amazing Doctors but terrible receptionist's service. Very rude when I tried to reschedule an appointment.
My name is Daniela ,I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctors decided the best treatment for my case was Mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with expenders first . Dealing with cancer is not easy ,I have experience with my mom and sister ,they both had to fight the same think. For my family experience, I was sure after waking up the surgery I would have to deal to see me with a flat chest. Dr Joan Lipa understand the felling of the patients and she did an extraordinary job .Thank to her , the psychological part is not something I have to deal with . The aesthetic of the reconstruction exceeded my expectations. I have no word to thank her. Also, she as an extraordinary team. I couldn't t be more grateful.
This is one of the Premier hospitals in the world. It has Specialist of all kinds and service that is second to none it is most certainly one of the top hospitals, if not the top Hospital in Toronto or Canada for that matter. They have expanded so much over the years that parking is a problem. It's difficult to get in and out of the parking lot and parking is quite expensive at about $5 per half hour. They do have weekly and monthly passes a lower-cost.
worst hospital i have ever been in. Brother went in emergency literally waited 12 hours just to be seen. They need more doctors on duty!!!! i will never go to this hospital again
I have never seen such caring and compassionate nurses in the Geriatric clinic
so disappointing with a world renowned hospital. Food is catastrophic, from sugar filled puddings for lunch and processed meat and frozen veggies to hard as rock croissants that have been re wormed with a displeasing green egg for breakfast. i wont stop at food. Lets continue on with staff that once they operate on their patients they treat you like a cattle. Never show up after to see if you are o.k. post procedure. instead you are treated inhumanly by some polish nurse who thinks she is GOD and you must kiss her feet. Than lets go to parking... $4.95 for half an hour parking. A hospital where doctors dont see you for hours because they are too busy chitchatting about their night before.. Than when its time to pay after waiting for your scheduled appointment your bill comes to miraculous $27.98? ( for 2+ hrs that you had no control over). I did not get a private chaperone for my car at that price, nor were the stalls well lit with private chair that will take me to my appointment. Doctors are complaining they are not paid enough and patients are dying because of poor service.. What a joke this hospital is. The parking should be free! People are dying there, they are not going into hospital because they are healthy and feel great!
I was in the hospital in May 24 2017 for UFE procedure during the morning shift. Two elderly nurses gave such good care to me that I actually feel bad I forgot their name. If I remember their name I would of voted for them on the hospital website for recognition for outstanding service.
Visitors are NOT permitted at this time so keep it in mind. Call ahead for particulars. I hope none of you need to go there but if you do you will be well taken care of. The effort these people have put in during this Pandemic has been …
I went to the assessment center on Friday and I have not received my test result yet! I called and emailed several times to the present experience but nobody answers me!!! I am wondering what happened to my test result!! I am going to lose my job because of this delay!
I have been to emergency rooms in different parts of the world (some barely had any resources) but this was the worst and unprofessional experience. Their staff is rude, impatient, slow, and lacks complete communication skills. Their bathrooms are broken and the place didn't seem serious about cleaning despite this pandemic. After waiting uncomfortably for 3 hours in severe pain with absolutely no acknowledgement or help, I decided to go home.
I am disappointed with how they handled my results. The gynecologist needs more training in speaking with an emotional patient. She made me more depressed than when I arrived. Did not offer a solution. She made it out to be she was doing me a favor by giving me iron.
Such a great hospital, my new born are in the Intense Care and these people are doing incredible job to keep my child alive . words and reviews won't be enough to thank the nurses, doctors and the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital .
Many thanks and much appreciation for the tremendous professional care I recently received from both the Emergency and Cardiac Critical Care Units. I was so impressed with all of the medical and support staff who attended to my needs. A wonderful group of people. Special thanks to Doctors Taha and Rumman.
I have just contacted the hospitals operator, Joanne in regards one patient's referral (I work at a dr's office as well) and I have NEVER been treated more rude and unprofessional!!! I do not know how in the world does such an inadequate person work at a hospital where people come with personal issues and concerns. She should be fired immediately because her communication skills are absolutely unacceptable and outrageous!!!! I will contact management to put a big complaint as well, this woman should not be working there.
Friendly staff that take gret care of their patients. Thank you :)
How exactly was my personal info passed onto a personal injury lawyer? I received three calls in 4 days.
i cant visit my dad because only 2 visitor rule, and staff are not even required to be vaccinated?? visitor liaisons are so unhelpful
Excellent facility with great staff. Advance medicine practice act as teaching hospital for new doctor. Can't say enough about the hospital as my family member was treated here. Keep up the good work
Very great Hospital
My wife had thrush niple after our daughter was born, so we went to sunnybrook, we were treated as if we are from mars and why are we at this hospital, we were treated like second class persons. I must say it bothers me every day, but I can not do anything about it, all I can hope for is that god give me enough love and respect to treat everyone the same with respect regardless of who they are.
ER for Early Retirement? Itolerably slow unfriendly Dr.’s and staff poor excuse for a human being ER drivers had the nerve to say i’m “painfully” overeacting they’re grossly overpaid to make judgment calls.
I went yesterday to Sunnybrook's COVID assessment centre to get a test. There was no lineup as it was by appointment only, so I felt it was very efficient, safe, and convenient. The assessment centre is located away from the main hospital, which was helpful as we didn't have to search for it within the hospital. The staff was so friendly, helpful, and so efficient. I am truly touched by how they risk their lives to provide and administer tests to people like myself. I received my test result within 24 hours online and the registration instructions were very clear and easy to follow.
November my father had bypass surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital. Due to this, I am so fortunate to receive the best Christmas present of all, my dad is alive and celebrating the holidays with me and the family. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, physiotherapist, pharmacist, and PSW’s who cared for my dad. You are all very special people. Dr. Cohen, you saved my fathers life, I am forever grateful to you. Fellow Dr. Sharaf thank you for keeping to your promise and checking in on my dad everyday. The Sunnybrook heart team beyond met my expectations and I am so grateful to all of them.
Rude and unprofessional nurses, especially cardiology and ICU. Not patient and family centred at all. Left family pretty much in the dark. Lack of communication about our loved ones care. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL - i would rather die than be cared for by Sunnybrook. Patient experience was useless when i reported.
Staff is nice but there's an old parking attendant that bugs people for pulling into a parking space temporarily in order to pick up a phone call. There were literally 6 vacant parking spots. He walks up to me and says it's paid parking you can't just sit in your car here. I tell him I'm on the phone and just need to finish and be on my way. You'd think they would be a little more sensitive seeing as people are typically around that part of the hospital to pick up friends and family that are sick. So you want me to buy 2 dollars of parking for me to have a 10 minute conversation on the phone? If it was packed sure. I get that. But there were ALL VACANT SPOTS around me.
Horrible customer service. My uncle was repeatedly admitted here and I, as the closest relative listed (but living in the US) had the hardest time to get any information from anybody. The nurses are rude and impatient. They have an unacceptable attitude. The switchboard operators are robotic and unhelpful (come to think of it, robots would be more helpful). I can never talk to anybody, nobody has the patience or time to try to understand my problem. I still do not know what happened to my uncle. This "service" would never survive in the US or any other part of the world as a matter of fact. I am a physician myself, owner of a private practice. I understand exactly what patient information protection means. But I never in my life experienced with such a terrible, rigid and ununderstanding "customer service". Why would anyone hire and employ people who could not care less, show not a minimal intention to HELP in HEALTHCARE is beyond my comprehension. I would hate to be a patient here.
Call center emergency guy named «Greem» is the rudest ever....so sad for an hospital like this
I went into emergency at 930pm and didn't leave until the next day at 10am. After waiting for countless hours seeing people going in and out I asked the nurse when I would be seen. I had also checked in with registration to make sure I wasn't called when in the washroom. I was assured I wasn't. The staff had taken me off the list. The nurse kept calling me by my sisters name I had to correct her three times. I was in a lot of pain and had nothing to eat or drink. Finally at 5am they took me in to see a doctor but had me registered under the wrong name. The nurse suggested I go to a walk in clinic instead of waiting. I ended up leaving in crutches and a referral to the fracture clinic (who are amazing btw) the emergency department. Needs some help. They are rude and disorganized.
Wait at emergency very long and took 6 hours before see a doctor for my mom. Cleanness below pare and not enough staff service paitents..
Don't go there if you care about your life! Went to the emergency with my daughter who had acute stomach pain and vomiting. She was crying in pain. For 5 hours nobody even looked at her. And it was not busy, they had only three patients inside - there was nobody in the waiting area. My daughter was vomiting all over the place and crying in pain. When I went (after for hours) to ask nicely for a doctor to see her, he dismissed me saying that they have other patients who are in more serious condition. How could he know if he didn't even see her,or read her chart? There were only three patients! At one point NO STAFF was in the emergency department! Awful and humiliating!
The emerg department is a complete dump. They lost my mom's blood. Had a different name then what she register as. Didn't check her wrist band or confirm her last name. The Doctor said she didn't have to fast for her blood work at Life. Labs and she went this morning and she did have to fast but ate breakfast. There were sick people all over the hallways. What kind of horrible system we have. And Sunnybrook is supposed to be a great hospital? Shame shame shame.
Book appt. to get child tested for covid, 8:15am. Arrive and there's already a line. Then told they don't even open until 9am, so by the time they open they're already nearly 100 people behind! How can the system be this flawed??Unacceptable to have small kids and sick people wait in the cold for hours
The most amazing people in the world. They saved my life and my baby's. I have never been taken care of so well, all the nurses and doctors work with such compassion and integrity. I had an emergency c section and our little angel is growing strong in the NICU. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.
Impressive exterior, but felt like an outsider/intruder. The nurses may be qualified on paper, but it seems that they don't have the right mind set and the heart to do the job! I can't believe we were treated with such snotty attitude by the nurses with little to zero compassion there. We wanted to check the condition of a family member who just got into a terrible vehicular accident, who happens to be my fiance's mother. We passed by a nurse as we approach the Critical Care unit (she was the only nurse in the hall), and my fiance asked her politely if it's okay for us to enter the unit. She gave us this im-not-in-the mood-but-il-answer you attitude and told us "yeah but no drinks allowed" while she was in a rush to go to another door with her bag, which I guess gave her an excuse not to show compassion due to her being on break. My fiance was holding a small cup of coffee to keep him awake because he was at Sunny Brook the entire night before while his mom was undergoing surgery, and there was no sign at the door that food or drinks are not allowed. But he honored the rude nurse's response and threw the rest of the barely consumed coffee to a nearby trash bin. Secondly, when we were approaching my mother in law's bed, it was the first time for me seeing her in a bad condition and almost got me into tears. I can feel my fiance trying to hold his worries and his hopes high. The nurse accommodating her gave us this uhm-why-the-hell-are-you-here look and told us that we should have call first. We politely apologized for the inconvenience (even if we dont deserve such attitudes). She only changed her tone and attitude when she found out that my fiance is the patient's eldest son. We only stayed for few seconds since she is not awake yet, and we felt unwelcome. Drove all the way from Brampton to Bayview to receive such rudeness and heartless attitudes. I really hope my mother in law is being taken care of properly. We love her very much and it breaks our heart seeing her condition. It made me feel more disappointed after reading bad reviews from other patients.
I'm still here sitting in waiting room for 12 hours now, called 911 midnight as had chest pain. Doctor appeared after 10 hours. Waiting room at Orange Wing is dirty and smells urine, 12 hours here and no food or water offered, no explanation of why its taking so long, no apologies for long wait. Luckily I'm not alone, there are two more patients going thru same saga. WORST SERVICE YOU CAN EXPECT FROM A HEALTH CENTRE.
One the most useless emergency departments I have ever been to in my life. Went 2 times as it is close by by house when passing kidney stones with heavy pain both times was left in the room for 6 plus hours only to leave without being seen by a doctor or given any pain meds. Overnight doctor their last week was a joke as he appeared to be treating patients as slow as possible leaving many people in distress for hours upon hours with only nurses who cant do anything for you. It is obvious he was paid hourly and didnt care at all about treating all the patients in the most efficient manner possible. Will never go back to this place. After leaving the second time after 8 hour wait with no treatment nurse told me this is a trauma hospital go somewhere else next time happens to you. What a joke.
amazing staff. everyone in between they are really exceptional.
Professional staff, know what they're doing.
Best hospital in Toronto HANDS DOWN. They fixed my back and actually cared about my wellbeing.
Worst hospital I have ever been to. I left in tears, and got absolutely no help. I sent there the day before, because of a severe ear infection and swelling in the left side of my face, that was not responding to antibiotics by a clinic doctor. I was in obvious distress and it took them a very long time to help me. The first time they left me in pain for a lengthy amount of time and I had to repetitively approach a nurse to ask for help. Tylenol and Advil were ineffective and I still had a fever when I took them. They treated it like it was minor until the 4th doctor finally saw the ear and said it was "nasty" and took me seriously. They sent me to see a ENT after many hours, and he couldn't even get in my ear. Eventually he forced a little sponge in, asked if I could take Amoxicillin the second after confirming I am allergic to Penicillin and since he didn't know ANY OTHER antibiotics, told me to continue using the same ineffective ones I already had. My right ear had a minor middle ear infection, and even though I told him it always transfers to the right side worse, he didn't listen to me. I did as I was told, barely slept at all and by the end of the next morning my right side was matching the left side. I gave the medication a chance all day, but at the end of the day I couldn't take it anymore and I went back to the hospital. I was sent to the orange zone. As soon as I was inside, I told them in tears I cannot handle the pain anymore. That was the last time I got any sympathy. I told them none of the pain killers I was using was working, including hydromorphone (2mg). They gave me regular Tylenol! Then they made me wait 6 hours without any pain killers, when I was doing all I could to not scream in pain. I asked them 5 separate times for help, even letting me take my own pain killers, and they told me they had to wait for the doctor. At least the day before, in the blue zone, nurses actually got up and TRIED to ask the doctor if they can help me. My attempts for help got me nothing. Half the time I went to the desk for help, I got rude responses such as (approx 4 hours in) the doctors are busy helping dying people. THEN HIRE MORE DOCTORS. Then the lovely "we have to take care of all these people".. There are not many people in the waiting room, and at 3am, they were ALL SLEEPING. This was just a couple of the things I could actually hear, since my hearing was almost completely gone. I was the only one waiting 6 hours for pain. After 6 HOURS a doctor finally came and promised me pain medication after she checked me. A half an hour goes by, I ask the nurses and they said they didn't even get an order for pain killer. Another half hour goes by, I see the doctor sitting outside and I go outside and ask for help. She says they will be in soon. Some time later they came, DISCHARGED ME. I waited all that time, no help at all. I got new antibiotics, and they did nothing to help my pain. I feel like I was literally left to suffer in obvious torment to some sadistic people's entertainment. I got up, took twice the amount of pills I was suppose to, to finally get even the smallest relief and I walked out crying my eyes out. I cannot understand how anyone could let this happen. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I wouldn't have cared how long it took to treat me, the LEAST they could have done is not let me suffer all that time FOR NOTHING.
The emergency staff was very rude and not friendly at all. After waiting for 6 hours they could not even show compassion for me, that is just want I wanted. Very dry, defensive and sarcastic when I asked how long it would take for me to see a doctor. . I thought even if you can not do anything to change a situation, the staff could have more compassion in regards to the sick people there.
Fantastic staff and very good experience
A few years ago, in late 2010, I had varicose vein surgery. I was 24 at the time & it was covered by my Ontario Health Insurance. As advised by my family doctor, not getting surgery wouldn't have been life-threatening, but the vein would have gotten worse with age. Yes, I understand this was a "minor" surgery since I was not at imminent risk of dying with or without this procedure. However, on the day of the surgery, I was asked throughout the process of getting from my hospital bed to the OR if I knew why I was there. The doctor in charge of my file asked me the first time. The second time, a nurse asked. Finally, before entering the operating room, another professional (one of the surgeons, I presume) asked me the same question. Frankly, I felt insulted & a tinge of ageism in this constant questioning of my awareness to being there. Apparently only elderly patients should undergo that procedure. After coming to a few hours later, post-op, the nurse attending to me was very curt. My mother who is NOT a medical professional was given an at-home recovery package for me. The doctor was nowhere to be found & there did not seem to be any knowledgeable staff about my recovery time. My family was instructed to take me home that night. I would've expected at least a one-night stay in the hospital, where trained medical experts & caregivers could attend to my health. After all, it is a *hospital* - How dare I assume such a privelege? I was bedridden at home for at least 3. So, my experience here was mixed. The surgery was successful, but the overall bedside manner of the staff was patronizing & almost negligent—Mediocre at best. My rating for my experience is simply "Good", for lack of a "Fair" option without the misleading "Poor" label. This also means that the service - at least in the wing of the hospital where I was situatued - did NOT deserve "Very Good". It was minimal.
Horrible hospital especially Emergency Nursing staff who do not respect client care and choices and do not respect personal dignity and boundaries of patients with disabilities. Patient relations staff are a complete joke and ignore complaints and do not follow or respond appropriately to complaints. Their complaint process is a joke. This hospital needs to educate themselves on client care and respect for client choices and rights in care. I would not give them a dime for funding.
What an unprofessional hospital...their management is the worst I've seen from visitors to the parking and traffic...most of the staff are rude and unpleasant to deal with...they deserve zero star
I was there with family for many months for Cancer treatment and the Doctors and Nurses were amazing. It is nice to see how they can treat so many people in a such efficient way.
I was on having my treatment for kidney disease and i was sitting in my chair a patient was making so much noise i said in a loud voice please take me off the machine and the team nurse came to me and she said we have to talk up because he is deaf so you have to take in a very deep voice and nasty i was so upset this sat. Other they are very nice and helpfull on C wing and the hospital is great
i happened in on an Easter Day. Ham and scalloped potatoes green beans AND lemon meringue pie.Wonderful.This hospital has been so caring to my Mom.husband and me. Thanks, Sunnybrook.
Bed side manner of a 8 yr ild prefirmed by all emergency night staff. Discriminates against parients and will slander yoyr name to other medical professionals over tgeur inability ti do their job properly
Surgeons were great but the nurses provided lip service. Caught one in a lie when we were asking questions. My wife was discharged after major surgery and within 5 hours of getting home we had to go to our local hospital to have them fix what the nurses at Sunnybrook screwed up.
Went to Sunnybrook Hospital for a follow-up. - Covid Protocol well in place - Screening at the entrance (am already Fully Vaccinated) …
5-6 hours waiting for X-Ray, and they did not warn me about that. Really terrible service UPDATE: Since then, they asked me for donations. TWICE. What about doing your job instead? Your job is to help patients, not to collect donations.
I worked here for 4 years doing research. I don't know why you don't implement a systematic hospital wide pay rate for their research staff. I was hired as a student and transitioned into a full time position. I was underpayed and taken adavantage off. Gale, the research manager, knew All about it and did nothing. She first told me I was on probabtion for 3 months wich later extended to 6 months despite my good work and high appraisals?...after 2 years in my full time position I was still making $22 grand/year (you do the math for the hourly wage) with the responsibilities of someone who made $60k/year. I know this because I replaced the lady they fired!
Pretty fed up with this hospital. My wife had previously been admitted for pregnancy complications and had to stay for a couple of weeks while she continuously was ignored and treated poorly by a few members of the staff. Now - after the whole ordeal of what she went through and then having an emergency c section, we finally got to bring our baby boy home, but not without further hiccups. They messed up our sons health card number. so when we called back to get a statement of live birth, which we now need to get a healthcard for him ourselves, we were told it was our fault and were laughed at by probably one of the most ignorant people possible and then hung up on. Thanks Geeta. You're a class act. Don't get me wrong, the doctors here and some of the nurses are phenomenal. But others? Clearly in the wrong profession.
Honestly, now I'm amazed I'm not dead yet after the news I recently received.
For a "so called" Level 1 trauma center, I am absolutely floored to find out the cafeteria which by the way is overpriced and offers little selection overnight, is also closed from 3 to 4am. Surely a 1200 bed lv 1 trauma center can hire a cashier 24/7? I mean, the doctors and nurses are working, should they stop at 3am to take their one hour break as well? Come back at 4am, maybe we'll operate on you then...
The operators that are on duty this morning are helpless, I called them 7 to 8 times to connect me to one of the Neurology Doctor to follow up my son prescription and i already explained to them that I’m trying to contact the Doctor’s …
Worst experience ever. I had my surgery for Ear. I was told to come at 10:00am . They kept delaying my surgery untill 11:00 pm in the night. I didn't ate anything since Midnight's I was starving and no doctors or nurses came to inform me about what was going on. Then I was given room around 11 doctor came and said you can stay or go home as they don't know if they will do my surgery. As they will have to bump for couple of hours more. Seriously, I was starving no food no water and dehydrated since 24 hours. Yet my surgery is not done. Waste of time and day. Will never do any treatment.????????
In emergency we are waiting more then 10 hours it's still they saying waiting for reports what the meaning of emergency my wife have shortness of breath and we have 2days old baby still they are saying wait
I had an eye infection with paralyzing pain. Dr. Rafferty and senior staff Dr. Mike Romano attended to me. They were just amazing, my best experience ever. By the way the beautiful triage nurse whose name I did not ask was super caring and helpful. Thank you. Farrah Sent from my iPhone
The triage nurse was very friendly. Emergency room staff need help. There was only 1 doctor. Waited 6 hours to be seen, and was told to come back on Monday to get an ultrasound (an ultrasound is what I needed in the first place). Hope this province and hospital s get this right some day soon.
I had a family member in for surgery. Surgery itself went very well and the surgeon was fantastic. That said, the inpatient care at this hospital is hit or miss. The nursing staff on ward D6 (D wing 6th floor) were attentive and friendly. However, the nursing staff on ward C6 were terrible. Inattentive, unfriendly, and sent my family member home without proper discharge information. They must love the COVID restrictions preventing family members from advocating on behalf of patients, because they are coasting. If your loved one gets placed on ward C6, GET THEM MOVED. The nursing culture on that ward is reprehensible. RESPONSE BELOW: We have reported the incident to ‘patient experience’ shortly after it occurred, and there has been no follow up with us!
Nice hospital, hard to get a straight / direct answer when diagnosed.
It’s an older hospital and some areas could use some renovation especially the public washrooms. Parking is expensive and limited during the day. The TVs in the waiting areas for tests could be changed to a comedy channel such as ComedyGold to help ease anxiety instead of 24hr news channels.
There is good staff .I was nervous at first , but the nurse was reassuring and made it quick.
Negative TRILLIONS of stars Extremely careless staff Doctors and nurses and all staff are VERY insensitive Admin staff = absolute nightmare If you really hate someone and want to see them suffer immensly and beg to die, GO HERE FOR SURE This place should be renamed "Hell on Earth" FYI to the note below: one of my issues IS with patient experience; I want to take time to “thank” them for privacy breach and doing perm- non reversable damage HOW do you people sleep at night?!
Avoid this hospital. This hospital killed my loved one. Horrible care and doctors do not update you. Left my loved one lying dead in a hospital bed for half a day before calling family. What a mess of a hospital and the worst hospital in Canada.
My son and I made 2 appointments for covid19 test and both time it was canceled. The problem is that they sent a letter one hour before our that it was canceled because we choose to left the queue. When it happened first time, we call them and ask what is going on there, and they said it is sistem problem. So we did another appointments for next day and we got the same cancellation. If you have no available place for test, then close the appointment availability or ask people to choose another test centre.
Best doctors ever ! When you're there you know your getting best treatment available. Couldn't ask for better feeling anywhere else when I am sick!
Parking is absolutely terrible. Give yourself at least 15-20 minutes to find parking. Even the handicap parking in the lower levels are full. It's easier to find parking underground than above ground including handicap parking. Then you'll have to walk another 5-10 minutes depending on where your wing is. The hospital is huge maze. Depending on which area you have to go there are not enough seats in the waiting areas. Make sure you check how long your parking ticket is valid for. Because if it expires when you pay at the machine you won’t know until you try and exit the parking lot. In which you won’t be able to exit because of an expired ticket even though you just paid for it. The machine to pay for parking is pretty horrible too. That being said, the staff and doctors are great. My review is strictly about parking. To save time and headache, look for parking underground.
Parking lot staff bad attitude
wonderful staff, dr's, nurses and audiology department. .find out today if I qualify for a cochlear implant. . very excited, but nervous also
waiting for 4,5 hrs already. staff is not in "hurry" at all. walking around with their coffee, chatting and "seriously" discussing politics and weather. Plus dirty waiting rooms in ER depressing ever more. Worst ER I have seen so far
Receptionists always to seem to be on break. Twice I came to an appointment and I had to wait around untill someone came back so I could check in. Feels very unorganized with every visit. One time they were away for an hour. Came for 12pm because my appointment was at 12.15 and all the check in staff were away till 1.
parking too expensive
Visited 2 yrs ago. Competent staff and equipment.
The critical care unit has some great staff. Also some of the worst I have ever seen. Its embarrassing that some of the staff here chose the health care profession. So sad to have such poor personal etiquette during times of family stress
If you have an emergency, find another hospital. This place is a disaster. One doctor told me I had an infection after surgery due to my blood results... then shift change happened and another doctor took over and told me I was fine. Never mind the fact that she was asking questions, when the answers were clearly written on my report. They load you full of pills and send you on your way... If you can't feel the pain anymore, the problem clearly isn't there right? The emergency room is falling apart and if they can't see it I don't know what to say... Scary to think that they are a trauma centre.
These guys save lives, 6/5 stars
The hospital's negligence wrongdoing (Tort) to the patient 1 .After one month of complaining about his pain on knee, your medical team finally brought the patient to exam yesterday and found they didn’t do the surgery they should have done a month ago . He even complained in the meeting to you the medical team and the social worker and the manager, however the doctors just refused to do any actions . They simply said " oh he was healing" in the meeting. 2. A nurse from c 5 trauma ward , in October 22 , around 2 pm , of my loved one's roommate' s , went to my loved one, the patient, to switch off his phone when he had conversation with the lawyer simply because she found he’s too loud and annoying. They even allowed this crazy roommate to curse my loved one. One of the staff from the port team in October 21, didn't even allow him to pee and took away his bottle rushed him for exam. 3. Our privacy is not protected. Our family and the patient, our loved one, including myself, were harassed by some lawyers we didn't hire several times. The third parties even knew where he currently stays and my info.
After waiting for 8 hours to see a doctor they brought me to a room (to finally see a doctor) after another 2 hours someone comes in and asks who I am and that they were looking for me? They basically shoved me in a room and forgot about me. I've never felt so neglected at a hospital before. 10 hours for an emergency. They need to rename the emergency room to something like "wait here for half a day"
Was Rushed for a Stent implant . Pleasant and Professional .
We encountered lovely staff and facilities at Sunnybrook. The in patient food could be improved, parking was quite expensive, and I did have quite a long wait to see a physician in the emergency obstetrics unit, but overall, I had an excellent experience.
Went there yesterday and was seen by an intern. Well after 9 hrs waiting the Dr gave me a prescription for stronger pain meds. I wanted to know what the problem was. He said he was puzzled. I must get referral from my family Dr to get MRI and colonoscopy. This is why I waited 9 hrs to hear. I explained that my Dr is away on vacation and this was the reason I came to the hospital. My current pain meds is not helping and I want to know what is causing the pain. This intern will be practicing soon. My God , what help can he give to someone in pain? Just a run around. So I returned home waiting for my family Dr to return.
Worst Hospital in the world women giving birth here beware RUN ! First they said Dr "Greensburg " The College said he's only a pediatrician NOT license to delivery it was a "Jon Barrett." Although my son's birth certificate and papers from the hospital says "Greensburg." The picture that I have standing over my son looks nothing like Jon Barrett who practices Judaism faith. Where the person assisted that actually did the delivery did not. Barrett wears glasses the man that assistant me did not . Barrett is old the man that helped me deliver my son was young. They are trying to cover it up. Even though I have pictures showing . My son was born blue they failed to resuscitate immediately as he was not breathing non-responsive denying 3 episodes of fetal distress. Put on their correspondents admit to one and then took that back. My child suffered oxygen deprivation. They shove the tube down his esophagus there was blood that now he's 4 years old and he cannot swallow solids ! Dysphasia inability to swallow solids eats like a 5 month old baby. (Continuously denying it.) Jon Barrett, you did not injure my child you never even met my cervix why do you want to take the responsibility of someone else ? I can only go on the fact it was a resident not certified to perform the delivery still a "student." This is why you're withholding his identity. Which you're not allowed to. There was not even a pediatrician in the room. My son is suffering from hypoxia seizures dysphasia inability to swallow solids because you guys did a remarkable job. Not. This is my forth child and what I had experienced in this hospital I never experienced before. Shame on you shame on your lies . You took an oath you are a disgrace to this Hospital you are a disgrace to mankind and I have utterly no respect for trash and or liars /people that hurt a new born baby that he is suffering 4 years with 911 ambulances EGGs MRIs Speech Pathology neurology and much more . I hope you all pay and karma finds all that is responsible. With every part of my being . I hope the truth is found . I hope my 4 year old can eat one day and heal from this . Shame on you all.
Dr. Hanna saved my life back near l990, when all other doctors had given up on me, over a 2.5 yr period. It was almost impossible to diagnose, but HE did... I had to return last year, after a severe car accident and tried to find you to give you the huge thanks that I feel in my heart for you... but, I couldn't track you down. So here it is.... Thank You SO Much Janet Renwick/Musgrave
Devastatingly humiliated when my full name and the procedure was called out in front of twenty people in the waiting room. Already a difficult time in our lives was made worse in this moment. No respect for privacy or patient confidentiality.
Top Hospital severing GTA residents. Most annoying and disappointing thing is the parking rate here, and spaces. Wait time is similar to any other hospital,
Today it's 11 years ago that Dr. Peng from Sunnybrooks saved my life after a heavy heartattack which I encountered at the Canadian Forces College! Thanks as well to my friends from NSP 3 WHO helped me and my wife during that demanding time!
I cannot say enough about the care my Father received at Sunnybrook. He recently was admitted into the emergency dept where he was looked after by the most caring nurse I have ever encountered. Suzy not only looked after my Dad and so many others that day but she also looked after me who was there with my Dad during such a sad time. Forever grateful.
My sister recently passed away and she was at the critical care unit at sunnybrook. The nurses where great and treated my family with respect and my sister till the end was looked after. I am honestly very thankful to the doctors and the staff.
The staff is awesome very helpful and caring for the patients who they deal with
Nothing but fantastic staff in COCHLEAR IMPLANT CLINIC
It’s been months and my loved one is gone now so leaving a review won’t help her but it took me experiencing patient care at a different hospital to realize how horrible the C6 unit and even other in patient units are in Sunnybrook. Even more than the nurses the management is to be blamed. I remember how she was left in a wheelchair all alone with a 39 degree fever at the Odette centre, as the porter left her there without signing her in..and this was after hours so everyone had left and I had to get the attention of the last screener as he was leaving to get to her. As a patient there for weeks in the C6 unit, I don’t remember my loved one being bathed even once, the hygiene/cleaning was practically non existent and my loved one would sometimes have to wait hours before being cleaned…one of the nurses whose name I wish I could remember and took action against was rude to myself and my loved one, and her staff too when she was the night charge nurse. I am honestly disappointed at myself for waiting so many months and for my loved ones passing away to write this review but now I know better. Being under staffed or crunched for time should never be the reason behind poor patient care. The management needs to either step up on hiring more nurses, or hire more aide like PSWs or implement better time management skills (I felt for the burnt out nurses being a future nursing student and family to a nurse myself when I really should have advocating for my loved one) but now every time I think about how my loved one was left unwashed for weeks and Uncleaned for hours I feel disgusted At myself for not taking any action..and I even called the nursing manager (Sonia) once and left a voicemail with request for callback that was never returned. I still remember how my loved one would make excuses on their behalf so I didn’t feel bad about the situation. To my loved one, I’m sorry it took me this long to stand up for you but I hope patient care sees this and understand that no compassionate service should be this burnt out..to the management and staff a person might be just their patient but to a loved one that person is their entire world.. please do better and strive to implement patient and caregiver feedbacks into your patient care
ER residents do not know anything. Avoid this hospital.
Nice hospital it has connection with 11 bus
Horrible ER section and rude staff !!! I was taken in by an ambulance at night to Sunnybrook ‘s ER . I was put on a chair in a corner with no doctor visiting me all night! 8 hrs later when I asked again about when the doctor will visit me they said they don’t know and it maybe another few hours... I asked for a bed since I was in a bad shape and they refused to accommodate even though I saw many empty beds around !!! Ultimately I asked to be released , without the doctor seeing me, since I needed a damn bed to rest on and they happily let me go at 5:30 in the morning!!! Worst ER experience in my life! In all fairness this hospital’s birth section is the best. But definitely avoid the ER at any cost
My moms there right now she’s under observation and she will have surgery soon the most prestige’s critical care unit in North America the staff at this facility is amazing surgeons nurses cleaners security Emerge staff they deserve 10 pats on the back the most intelligent Doctors and trauma Surgeons that work magic god speed to all there family’s and loved ones My first million dollar of my income will be my gift to them it’s the least I can do money doesn’t explain the integrity and respect of this faculty!
Horrible experience in the emergency department. They were extremely under staffed. If it wasnt for one nice male nurse who was treating all the patients i would have lost my mind. I was having a serious gallstone attack that was lasting for over 12 hours. I came to the emergency room at 2pm and wasnt seen until 8:30pm, even though i was in excruciating pain ( in my chest and back). Once i was finally taken in to see a doctor it was so unorganized and understaffed in the blue room. From 8:30pm i waited in the blue room until 11pm (still in excruciating pain). When i finally seen the dr (who rubbed me the wrong way with her attitude and clearly did not know what she was doing) she tried to tell me my pain and symptoms were not gallstones, even though i have already been diagnosed with them and showed her my last ultrasound paperwork and told her i had an appointment with a specialist in april. She then ordered pain medication and an ultrasound, still telling me what i was experiencing wasnt gallstones even though ive been having shorter attacks for over 3 months. The nurse who hooked me up to iv and gave me medication was extremely good at his job. He talked me through everything and made sure he was extra gentle after i told him of my fear of needles. The ultrasound technician was very good at her job and answering any questions i had. Once i came back from the ultrasound i was dizzy from the medication and was told that i had to sit in the waiting room and not lay down anymore. I waited to see the dr who then told me i had small gallstones and i should wait to see a specialist but she did not know how long that would be. I told her i would wait a bit longer but that i was tired and wanted to go home to rest. Not to mention i have a 3 month old who i needed to go pick up and that i had an appointment with my family dr the next day. She said she would prefer me to stay but I inssisted that if it took too long i would go see my family dr that week. She said ok. At 2am i was exhausted, sleep deprived from the pain i had experienced in the last 24 hours and still sitting in the waiting room chair and not a bed. I had had enough of the dr and the amount of time i had to wait while being in a lot of pain. I stated i would like to leave. The nurse was very fast and kind as he took out my iv ( which had been empty but still in my arm for hours) and said he was glad i felt better and he was sorry for the long wait again. He said he hopes i felt better and to make sure i went to my family dr. At no point did the dr come to check if i was feeling better or needed anything else. She was just on the computer with a sour look on face as i left. What really got me upset was that as i was leaving i seen that 2 beds were empty, clean and had a clean gown folded on them. I was so upset that they had kept me hooked up, dizzy, naseous and in a gown in the waiting room sitting down when i should have been laying down resting. I will probably never go to the hospital again or tell anyone to go there. The hospital needs more nurses and more capable drs in the emergency department, who can understand, have empathy and help patients.
I went to emergency at sunnybrook on a Sunday late evening and was checked over for numbness in my face and a lump on my neck. I was released after some tests but told to skip a walk in and return immediately if any changes happened. The following evening I returned with the numbness spreading on my face and very sore and swollen lymph nodes on the back of my head and neck. It was very busy, which was obvious as I saw the triage nurse condescend and humiliate a patient before me into going home to "rest". When it was my turn, I shared my concerns and information about my previous visit the night before, she began to tell me "well you don't look sick" and told me the swollen sore lymph nodes are just a "lumpy skull" followed by telling me to feel her head to compare! I was so impressed and pleasantly surprised that they had such a knowledgable specialist and medical expert to triage and assess everyone!! (Sarcasm). She continued to demonstrate her unprofessional attitude by answering the phone and sharing confidential information in front of me and my spouse to the other person on the line. She finished by telling me there's a 7 hour wait and I should consider going home. After the shock of the condescending humiliation in front of the entire waiting room wore off, and my spouse biting his tongue not to tear into this woman, we decided to leave. We went to a walk in clinic immediately the following morning and were told the seriousness and to return to emergency. After sharing our story about at the emergency, a referral was made to a specialist for the following day. I understand I was not dying. I understand that others who have more serious conditions require immediate attention. I am certainly not someone who abuses our health care system. I understand that the emergency is for emergencies....however it's the evening when walk in clinics are closed. When two doctors tell you to go to emergency, I'm going to follow their suggestion over the stressed out, don't want to be there, triage nurse. People deserve to keep their dignity and be treated with respect, ESPECIALLY when they are at their most vulnerable. Completely disgusted by this experience, not just of my own, but witnessing how others were treated that evening as well.
Hospital has areas sponsored by personal injury firms and used to allow their staff to attend events where swag was given out to them.
I have anything but gratitude to all of my caregivers from the time I landed with airambulance to the very last day that I was transfered to rehab after a traumatic motor vehicle accident. Just a small suggestion I did have a bad experience with a Registered Nurse however, it does not mean I have to give it a one star. All you need to do is either your family and/or youself need to speak up and solve the problem. Remember that all of the Physicians, Registered nurses, administration, Social Assistants, Jantorial, and everyone else that are vehind the scene they are human being also and this gives them also some right to be not in such a happy go get type of mood there job is not easy they work 12 hour shifts at rimes going all day with coffee and very little food. I am not saying that they should get away with mistakes that may be lifethretening, however have some compenssion as they have for you when you need them to save your life.
Absolutely amazing hospital my premature newborn were sent here and they are just amazing
long waiting time.... but they are professional and polite. Appreciated!
The one philipino male nurse was an idiot , he wouldn't answer my calls when I would press the red button to ring his walkie talkie or whatever and he was always late with my medication, I had to yell at him and threaten to leave to get pain medication for my serious head injury on time instead of 15 mins after the recommended time that I should take them. I left a nice review about him on the papers that the hospital gave me. I'm just mad he didn't have the decency to pickup his walkie talkie or whatever and tell me that he will be a while, instead he decided to ignore me untill it was convenient for him even though I was screaming from the pain... Emergency walk ins are horrible too, they don't care about if your not seriously injured. Might as well go on Google and figure out how to fix your problem yourself because these guys will make you wait over 6 hours Other than that nurse everything else in the hospital was a really good experience I wouldn't want to go anywhere else other than here. ICU staff was amazing and really helpful.
The service here is average, nothing to write home about but not too bad either
The Doctors at this facility are possibly the best anywhere in the G-7 .The nursing staff are exceptional. If it were not for this facility and its care and experience I would have demised at 55....im 71 at time of this text.
I wish I can pick no star for this hospital. I had the worse experience here. I told my husband to bring me to this hospital because my sister told me it’s a good hospital, I regret so much now. I’m still at the hospital right now and I came here at 8:30pm and now it’s 5:30am. I was in so much pain but I got no help and I did blood work twice and I still don’t know what I’m waiting on. The staff here are very rude and I even asked couple of time one nurse name Emily to take off my IV or fix it because it was hurting me. She told me she would but never came back and I had to ask for the 3rd time to do it. Sooo much more I have to say but I’m not going to because this management won’t change or make any difference. Never coming back!!! P.S. I decided to leave without even seeing the doctor after almost 10 hours because the only test they did is blood test and when I asked how many patients are there before me the nurse said “1” but you might be even pushed back if anyone else is more important. I told her other hospitals even do other test within the 10 hours and you are telling me that after the doctor sees me all the test is gonna be done. She told me “well our hospital is different”, well never ever I wanna come back to this best hospital.
A special thank you goes to the short stay nurses that attended to everyone’s needs. I felt like I was staying at the Hilton for the night... Much appreciated
Today is July 7 2018.I Went to the hospital at 08:30pm because my nose is bleeding 3 day in a row.I didn't get any help from the girl who working front only her bad attitude. That I'm not only person whose nose is bleeding and to wisit my family doctor who doesn't work on weekends.I have one message for you,if you have any king of problem leave that problem at HOME and be nice with patients because you getting pay check for that,or change you occupation and go work with animals!
Trash rude staff bad food bad hospital
Parking fees
Great service, staff is very nice and helpful. Can't say anything bad about Sunny Brook the doctors saved my life I was on life support I don't know why everyone is saying there service is bad? Maybe you would rather have someone to talk to while your on your bed dying because of doctors busy talking to patients then doctors operating.
Please tell me why you feel the need to charge an exorbitant amount of money to park at your hospital and dont offer reduced rates for those who are low income/no income! I unfortunately receive a non liveable amt of money each month yet …
I would like to thank Dr. Phillips who attended to my urgent health issues via zoom. I met with Dr. Pirouzmand who will be performing surgery as soon as possible. I am so grateful to be under his care. A knowledgeable, skilled, personable surgeon who is extremely professional, which I appreciate. So grateful.
Terrible I arrived here in emerg at 5am, was brought into the smaller waiting room at 11am. Had bloodwork and CT scan at 2pm. No one has given me my results yet and it is now 9:45 pm. I've been sitting here in awful pain for 16 hours and counting.
Bad misogynist doctor in Er doctor Sadawi. Judged me for being abused, got a woman doctor who talked down to me and mistreated me and didn't come from a place of empathy. Treated me like cattle to be discussed with my friend who I recently shared my story fully to because I'm a person with rights to privacy and not a toy doll patient to judge, they talked to my (white) friend as if she was my (brown background) owned when she is a friend not even emergency contact. refused further testing when I said my symptoms worsened. Finally, they wouldn't let me take the er report back for my doctor even though I had the right to my records, they claimed the doctor had the right to not to share. Sent me home forcefully by treating me like I'm asking for too much when I said please help my symptoms were worsening.told me they already did one thing, which is the standard for healthcare in Canada apparently, a blood test and x ray. Dr sadawi treats brown women who had a mind of their own and were unfortunately enough to be abused, like pests.
My dad was admitted to this hospital because his cardiologist recommended bringing him here. He was first admitted to be in the ICU because he was diagnosed with pneumonia. They put him on antibiotics for a few days and nurse (Anthony) who was supposed to be have been monitoring him was way more busy gossiping with the cleaning lady and the other nurses who would come by. Instead of paying attention to how my dad was feeling I noticed he was getting worse rather than better because Anthony claimed my dad was no longer coughing and in the meantime his lungs completely filled with fluid. I saw and heard him cough up phlegm. Instead of continuing the antibiotics, they stopped. His pneumonia got so bad he was put on a ventilator. The ventilator should have been there for a short while. My father was NOT in a coma. He was on that horrible ventilator for 3 weeks and my dad kept letting us know to remove the the tube from his throat because it was causing him so much pain. The doctors kept insisting no if we need to transfer him to another section of the hospital it would be easier if the tube is in his throat. He was only moved ONCE to to do a test. He suffered with that tube in his throat and ultimately passed away. My brother who is a doctor met a colleague of his and explained the situation about the ventilator and he confirmed that Sunnybrook hospital is known for putting patients on ventilators for weeks on end until they die. So unfortunate, we have OHIP which provides us free healthcare and doctors who don't care for their patients. WE NEED to Privatize our healthcare so we can get the care we need.
(Translated) Thank you very much Dr.Nevo. All good wishes are for you! …
I’m currently still in the hospital after being here for nine hours. Without a doctor saying hello. I’m in a lot of pain, I heard this is one of best hospital, I totally disagree. I passed out twice in my room, all they can do is check my vitals.. I’m still waiting I will never come to this hospital again.
Outstanding staff. Staff treats the residents as if they were their own family members. Meals were top quality and varied.
Oh it will cost you a signature to get in
My husband has been waiting to see a doctor about pain in his kidney (he only has one) and he started getting really bad chills. I had to asked 4 times for a blanket, and was laughed at twice by 1 nurse who said, ‘that is literally my lowest priority right now.’ Her priority is sitting behind the desk gossiping to another nurse. Anytime any employee saw someone coming up to the desk, they would avert their eyes and walk in the other direction. They ended up changing nurses, and it was a huge difference in treatment. Way more helpful. Even though they weren’t able to spend a lot of time on one person, they were very personable during the couple minutes they did have.
Didn't know you could rate hospitals! This is one of the top hospitals in Toronto in my experience. Excellent doctors and some of the best nurses I've dealt with. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Don't like the expensive cramped parking but it's a small price to pay when you get excellent care. Have to say that Emergency was a nightmare with my mom who was seriously ill but it's emergency. Don't know anywhere where that's any better.
I was injected with Moderna vaccine today and I had an appointment for Pfizer. I did not consent to that or was informed in advance. Sunnybrook response to me was, it was up to me to check their website!!! Currently I’m not feeling well and Telehealth Ontario advised me to go to an emergency. Yes, this could have happened with Pfizer, but at least I had consent to that. Shame! ————— Reply: I am talking about CONSENT! All these you are saying now must have told me prior to the injection and then I, only I and I would decide if you can proceed! You awful doctors constantly pulling people shirts up without their permissions and touching their body like it’s a normal thing and people gotta shut their mouths because it’s a “free” health care! This has happened to me and seen it with my own eyes happened to others that had companied to this hospital. All sorts of health practitioners being thought in details how to communicate / approach patients, but it seems doctors due to their power over patients, holding their lives in their hands, being thought that do whatever you want and they all will shut up because there’s nothing they can do. I have contacted you over a month ago and to this date nobody from Sunnybrook has contacted me. Shame!
THE MOST WORST EMERGE!! yesterday, in evening me and my 78 years old wounded mother throughout from hospital untreated her injured knee was bleeding at that time when we out, in two days they did nothing for her knee wound no dressing nothing over my several request they( the biggest trauma centre) said "In weekend we don't have any wound nurse" !!!! and in a night they gave my mother sleeping pills and reported that she was sleeping peacefully and but the truth is my mother was suffering worst pain in her knee wound . even they didn't put any drip on her and gave no food no water without any reason and when I refused to take my mother home in this condition nurse started bullying us and start giving threats "WE WILL CALL SECURITY" which they did and escorted us from hospital emerge , not only that they forced me to put back my mother from hospital bed to her wheelchair by using hospital equipment which is not my job on that they told the idiotic and drunk security guard to escorted me from hospital without my mother , security guards started harassment and yelled at me '"Are you going to put your mother on wheelchair otherwise we will through you out from hospital " .From the beginning till last minute in hospital ,me and my mother was humiliated harassed. And the resident doctors introduced them self as a "senior doctors' and gave me falls information : they said your is going to be disregard today Saturday and on Monday you are coming back and we are going to do surgery to amputate your mother leg" , I asked them without any further test how could you say that and they have to answer to that... I told them this is not possible for me alone to come back and forth due to a issue of her mobility and her chronic pain she is unable to walk and stand she is on physical assistance, and they said it is not our headache at all and said we have more patient waiting for this room. From 1st min to last hour in emerge me and my mother was mistreated misguided, humiliated , insulted , discriminated harassed and left untreated by their emerge staff nurses and drunk idiotic security guards this is the violation of senior rights and human rights they are involved in Elder abuse.this so called well known sunnybrook hospital. My message to whole hospital is : SHAME ON YOU SHAME ON YOU !!!
