I have received unbelievably excellent care here! It is world class medicine while caring for me as a person. I am included in my treatment decisions and I can’t recommend Northwestern any more highly!

John Pants

Quite certain now that the supposed positive reputation of this hospital is a gigantic joke PR campaign paid for by the company itself. I've come for multiple appointments now, with different sections - one with neurology, one with the pain clinic. My interactions with doctors and nurses have shown, for the most part, very little empathy or competence. Continual mistakes were made, evidence of severe lack of organization and coordination were shown time and time again. Then if you start getting dissatisfied, nobody really takes it seriously or does anything to rectify it. Was not helped, did not feel cared for, had my time completely wasted and I wish I had spent it somewhere else where maybe I would actually have some progress in my health situation. I would honestly recommend steering clear of Northwestern entirely if you can at all help it.

Jacqueline Witherspoon

The Outpatient surgical team is phenomenal. The process is well explained verbally, given in written directions to patient and family, and family gets to track their loved one (anonymous number becomes color coded on a monitor indicating steps of entire process). It's a very calming experience for everyone, not just the patient.

Josha Johnson

Service was great I went on Wednesday and I waited in the waiting room no longer than ten minutes but was there for hours waiting on tests results

Oscar Jackson

Love this hospital. thank you so much for your services! I'll recommend this location to everyone I know. This is my baby, Juniper

Everybody at this hospital is super friendly and helpful. I came to see DR LEAH WARGOLET in neurology, she is THEE most sweetest, loving, caring, compassion doctor i have ever seen. Had a medical condition for three years ive seen 7 nuerologist, 1 ENT, 3 chiropractors, 2 dentist, 1 neuro opthamologist, and she was the only doctor that ever persued me. Everyone pushed me away with meds. My first appt with leah was a HR long she is so genuine and willing to do anything to figure things out.She makes you feel like family and she actually cares. Please if you need a nuerologist PLEASE see her she wont let you down!!!!!!

Full service medical care..skilled , professional doctors and staff..great business office, modern medical equipment. It's number 1 in the state ,about number 6 in the country...try it,you'll like..!!!

David Mesirow

I really appreciate this hospital. I attend several departments here, from internal medicine, endocrinology, ophthalmology, pulmonology - a fairly wide range of care. My experience in some specific instances hasn’t been perfect but that’s hard to ask for - overall it has been a high-quality experience with high-quality care. The fact that my care is coordinated under one overall system is helpful and streamlines my care; the MyChart App is a user-friendly resource!

This was my first serious three week time in hospital. Involved an annuerysm bleed in my brain, surgery etc. I'm going home today for separate therapy meetings and my skull replacement surgery in like 3 weeks. I feel I was treated great ????

Abe Ruben

The ER here is on point. The crew works extremely hard and does the best job possible. Sure you wait but they do prioritize well... Job well done.

Darius A Gross

My experience at Northwestern was a pleasant one. I was diagnosed in 2018 with high blood pressure with chest pains. The nurses were friendly and professional. I remember one of the nurses name Sophia and she was very nice. The hospital was clean and the staff was nice as well.

Alex Lindsey

ER experience the worst yet. Waited 8 hours to even be seen by a doctor. Ordered tests and took them in the lobby. Security did nothing as the lobby became over crowded. No updates or indication they even knew you were there. My wife had appendicitis and all they could do was offer a hot pack.

Morgan Layton

Good luck seeing the doctor you would like to see. Horrible answering service they, very clearly run as a money making operation not a place of healing.

Tiffany V

My mother has been in the emergency room since 4pm and it is now 10pm, she still has not seen a doctor. They took blood and an ekg both results came back not so great and yet she is still waiting and NO doc. I understand higher risk whatever that is, is priority but after SIX HOURS you would think a doctor would have been of some assistance. I hate Chicago doctors.

Alisa M

Very cruel policy for labor and delivery. If you test positive for Covid you have to deliver ALONE. No other hospital in Chicago has this policy. It is cruel, inhumane, and completely unfair to a birthing mother to have to go through labor with strangers but not her partner. With such a life changing event, I don’t want strangers or students surrounding me. Birthing mothers deserve their support person who they can trust. The support person is a critical part of the care team. They are an advocate for the patient and provide both emotional, physical, and spiritual support. By not allowing a support person you greatly increase the risk of negative birth outcomes. Other hospitals recognize this important aspect of birth. It’s a shame that Northwestern does not. This policy has caused me undue stress throughout my high risk pregnancy. I have taken all precautions to reduce my risk but am terrified of testing positive without any symptoms and being forced to deliver our baby alone. Please update your policy to reflect your promise to care for individuals both physically and mentally.

From diagnosis to surgery to post surgical radiation the doctors and nurses were fabulous.Very thorough in answering questions;arranging followups;explaining possible side effects and outcomes.Quick to respond to questions and concerns. However,it is unforgivable and shameful to send a bill from surgery in March to a debt collector in September while in the middle of radiation treatment.Someone dealing with cancer and undergoing cancer treatment does not need harassing phone calls during treatments. The medical side rates 5 stars;the business side 0;and for that reason I will recommend friends and family take their business elsewhere.

Dorina Koceli

Im so happy to come in this hospital northwestern the best place i was with my husband he did the surgery and every nurse it’s coming over they was so super nice im very satisfied with them????the nurses send me sms evey time how the surgery going i mean I recommend everybody to go here special doctor was the Wren,James thank you doctor for take care for my husband ????????????????????????

Natalie Higgins

Best hospital food ever.

Tracy Holmes

This has been my go to hospital for over 10+ years. I am pleased with my PCP, & my specialists docs as well. The challenge is that the waiting time in the ER is beyond egregious at times. I am currently here & have been waiting for 4.5 hours to be called to the back. Granted I've seen triage already 3 hours ago...I guess it comes with the territory of being one of the best hospitals in chicago..everyone wants to come & perhaps there is not enough staff to meet the overload of patients in the ER.

Garcia Sandy

The staff was always super nice when I used to take my son for his treatment. I hope the there are no more long , long waiting periods. hard to find great specialists in California .

April Delao

Great doctors and nurses very knowledgeable and caring. One of the best hospitals I have been too. Thank you all for all you do.

Jessie curran

Since Northwestern has taken over CDH Hospital I have dreaded any time I had call to make an appointment with my Doctor. My most recent appointment was by far the worst. When calling to make an appointment my insurance has changed so I knew I had to go through some info. I had a very hard time with the women and ended up hanging up and calling back. The next girl I got was a little more helpful but needed completely different information which does not make sense. The doctor I ended up seeing was great. However, I got blood work and was told the the results would be sent to my "MyChart" account. No one called to explain them the next day. They just expected me to assume everything was okay with the little information that was given. I have called twice to try and get some more information and I have still not received a call back more then 8 hours after getting my results e-mailed to me. I will be finding a new doctor outside of Northwestern Medicine for my future needs. I do not recommend any other hospitals under this company. They are just money hungry.

Sam Yaconis

Worst hospital I’ve ever experienced! You will be waiting for 8+ hours just to be seen, plus they will charge you up the ass for minimal work done. Not worth your time, if you need to go to a hospital do NOT visit this one. There are plenty of other hospitals in Chicago that are far more superior to this one.

Ravi Kiran Adusumalli

I have lost my Jacket in North Western Chicago hospital. I tried to reach Lost and Found Dept. They are as lazy as Govt employees. I have lost it on Mar 5th, 2018 and I reported it on Mar 9th. Till Mar 21st there is no response. Just an update. Jan 16, 2019. Still no communication from NW

Claire Davies

5 hour wait weds and 7 hour wait Friday without seeing doctor in er with 180/100 blood pressure and heart rate 90. Terrible place to be sick!!!

Cory Tesch

Came in for a bone infection, the doctors were knowledgeable and more than willing to explain. But the real reason I gave a 5 star rating is the nurses. Every single one of them have been kind and understanding. Great personalities and made my stay there very comfortable, thank you. I live about 2 hours away from here and I choose to come here instead of the Northwestern hospital in my town and I don’t regret that at all.

Matt Howard

The best of the best! Focused on helping people.

Barbara Creed

I have received outstanding care from my PAH specialist to the excellent lung transplant team. I received a double lung transplant during the time of COVID-19 and never was concerned about infection. I cannot praise the doctors, nurses, and staff enough. The follow-up care is unbelievable. I highly recommend Northwestern!

Jennifer Tan

Everything was fine and routine - my delivery and other care I've received - with the major exception of an encounter I had with someone from billing. I asked her if there was any way to challenge a bill (the bill showed up three months after I'd already paid for the encounter; there was no record in my chart from the MD), and, instead of answering my question with a yes or a no, she got very combative with me, telling me that I could have chosen to not get care, telling me that I was wrong to argue that I received a duplicate charge (an argument I wasn't making), and overall being a real bully. I got so angry, I actually cried. Her behavior felt pretty unnecessary. But maybe bullying makes her good at her job. Despite the fact that hospital billing is not a perfect experience anywhere, big warning to anyone who questions a bill they receive from here.

Breona Green

I had a phenomenal experience during my pregnancy at NW. Being a first time mom, I had so many questions and concerns but I immediately felt right at home. I delivered my baby early and NW was there as usual making me feel comfortable, informed and safe. Thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses and Administrative staff at NW. My family and I would like to thank Dr. Armstrong and her team, Jean Ramos, Catherine Nosal, Dr. McKnight, Dr. Nathan Truegar in the ED, Ms. Shirlene in scheduling, Nurses Tricia, Lexy, Natalie, Allie, Trang, Hannah, Dr. Quinlan, the Lactation specialistS Kathryn and Krystal and the ladies in the environmental services department. Keep up the great work ladies and stay safe.

I have visited the Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s ER twice in 2018 for different issues and was given excellent care both times. The doctors, nurses and technicians were attentive and efficient and ran a full compliment of tests in order to achieve proper diagnosis. This hospital is top notch, facility very clean and updated with modern equipment. I waited 5 minutes for an EKG as I arrived with very high bp and taken to a room within 10 minutes. On second visit, I arrived with a fractured or sprained wrist and waited about an hour. I also had two outpatient surgical procedures in the last 2 years and received excellent care for both procedures. Very satisfied and highly recommend NWM. All my doctors are at Northwestern Medicine Chicago and I am very happy with the care and treatment I receive.

Gail Curtis

My husband broke his neck Several years ago the surgeons at this hospital saved his life he broke his neck and after they completed the surgery a month later my husband walked out the hospital he could have been paralized but he wasn't that's how great of a job the surgeon did I'm grateful to them and I'm thankful and my husband was very thankful we feel blessed.so THANK YOU NORTHWEST HOSPITAL AND THANK YOU TO ALL THE DOCTORS AND NURSES .AND THE ENTIRE STAFF YOU SIMPLY ROCK.????????????????????????????????

Diane Titus

I had an upper right lobectomy in 2015 and my husband just had a left lung transplant. We cannot say enough about this hospital and the entire staff from the head of thoracic surgery to the cleaning staff. Everyone in this hospital has been kind, courteous, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable!! The team if doctors have been outstanding. Thank you Northwestern!! The only thing that could make it better would be parking with little or no charges.

Travis Green

DO NOT BUY THE PRE-PAYMENT SCAM. If you go to emergency services, they will hustle you for money after you are treated which I was told was a deductible but instead was a 'pre-payment'. 1.5 months later they have reminded me to pay again more times than they were able to check in on the 'status of applying that pre-payment to my treatment'. Doctors were great, but administration is extraordinarily lacking in proper operational leadership. 6 hour wait time in ER. Horrible communication in the billing department. Just say no to the payment in person, ask them to send the bill to you on the NM portal and pay there instead after your insurance has made the proper check, not the 'automatic check' they do in 10 seconds.

KingLIlG 300z

i have been admitted to loyola hospital, christ hospital (the worst) and northwester has been the best at everything if you need serious care, bad reviews are only bc emergency room is busy but over all if you have a medical condition this is the best to go i will never go anywhere else ☝️

Patricia Kirby

The hospitalists system is the revolving door of this hospital...They don't listen and in more than a few times never examine me..I left with serious injury undiagnosed. The ER department is a little better but the new observation unit is grossly understaffed and the rooms are nothing more than closets. If you have to go to the bathroom you probably are going to be sitting in it.... This has been my hospital for for a long time but I no longer feel safe here.....I love the docs I have but the hospital has made some bad choices and patient care has been compromised.

Radim Svoboda

I don't have many experiences with hospitals, but when I underwent a surgery of my brain here, I literally met with angels. Very professional nurses, amazing friendliness of all staff, even the receptionists and support personnel. It's amazing to even learn this is a "not for profit" organization! While I hope I won't be back in a hospital anytime soon, I also hope that next time I will need any medical help, I can come back to this very place.

Ivano Matera

If there was no star, I would definitely choose that rate. We had to go to the ER because my wife (pregnant) was bleeding caused by a fall. The front desk told us that she had to wait an hour and didn’t matter that she was pregnant. So unprofessional and wishing that one day they will have the same issue. An advice to everyone: If you have an emergency do not go there!!!!

Edward W

During months of July and August, I suffered intolerably itchy skin-rash and paid more than $400 to visit four of their best doctors, but none of them could even identify my condition, let alone cure it. I paid money for nothing. I could see their doctors were qualified, professional, and very nice people, but this payment system was seriously defective and absolutely not fair. I paid my bill, I delivered my part of responsibility, and I wish they could hold their side of bargain to those unfortunate patients in the future. Thanks!

Li CAMB2

Great physicians, very knowledgeable.Hard to get appointments for some DOCTORS, but worth the wait.

Amaya Wheeler

This was the WORST hospital I've ever been to!! The front desk people were rude and annoying. They were gossiping and giggling out loud while patients waited 5+ hours to be seen. When asked how long was the wait the young lady at the desk said she would check and never did. I waited from 3:45 am-8:30 am and was never seen by the doctor. I walked out of their ER and went to urgent care instead. Avoid this hospital if you want quality care.

I recently had an appointment on 12/9/2020 with the intentions of leaving that same day. After things didn’t go as planned, I was admitted for a full week. Although, ending 2020 with hospital stay is not the most ideal, Northwestern Memorial Hospital made my stay pleasant. I’m honestly impressed on the hospital as a whole. The entire staff did an amazing job. I just want to say thank you to everyone. The Med team, IBD team, nurses, techs, everyone else that has interacted with me. You all did a wonderful job with keeping spirits high and give VALUABLE information to me as a patient. I don’t normally do reviews, but this had to be done. Keep up the amazing work.

Laura Goldston

9 hours in the ER with my father 73y/o Dialysis/ Diabetes/ HBP. No answer from anyone. Operation is suffering serious deficiencies. I communicated several times with the nurse at the front desk that he need it his meds. She seems CARELESS The reason for the visit chest pain. No 3 hours acute checks, overcrowded lobby’s. Is very sad to see the hospital failing.

Sha's Place

It is to treated and most of my docs are great!

Patrick Fernandez

Beautiful midnight run to the ER!

John Narofsky

Their doctors think your time is worthless. First appointments at 8 can take until noon to happen. Inpatient consults can take hours for them to even remember you're in the hospital. Scheduling seemed to think everyone wants to wait weeks for fifteen minute procedures to take place.

.sheila fraser

Love staff and doctors. The VERY BEST IN ILLINOIS

Tiff Hall

Love the staff, the service, over all the whole experience. My only complaint is parking very accessible to public transportation.

Bill Spencer

Hugely impressed! Technically and Operationally 10/10! Quick decision making and I was fully briefed throughout the procedure. The overall experience was professional but in a very relaxed environment! The aftercare and briefing was superb! I can't speak highly enough of the medical, nursing and ancillary staff involved during my brief stay! Thank you so much! Bill Spencer

Leonard

Used to be a great Hospital. Took my Mom to the ER here and they stuck a needle in her arm to start an iv but never started the iv. When we asked about it after a couple of hours they said to wait. Finally we after waiting so long we decided to leave. They then tried to scare us into staying. Worst er staff that night????

Sabrina

Most HORRIBLE experience I have ever had with a medical facility. I am not usually the one to leave negative reviews unless I think it is important. I arrived at the adult emergency waiting room at 11:30 pm after having what I was told was a panic attack and vomiting (if you have those you know it is scary and you actually think you're going to die). I did not see a doctor until 7:30 am. I understand it's a big city and all and it's a busy hospital, but 8 hours?!?!?! Unacceptable. This one guy at the desk I could see he was prioritizing people over me, which I understand. But you can't just forget about a patient for 8 hours! They kept going around and taking people who have been waiting for hours' vitals over and over again and prioritizing who is more sick and who should go first based on that. I kept going up there and I was told, "oh, there's about 1 to 2 people in front of you, should be about 1 to 2 hours" at 3:30 in the morning. 6:30 am and several more people get in before me, I finally am told I get to go in, after the shift changing though! This guy got away before I could say anything to him. Also, past 7 hours of parking, it doubles so we had to pay more for that too... Another thing that really disgusted me was there was this guy who came in about 30 minutes after me. Just around 5 am, he gave up and asked them to take the needle out of his arm and he left. What if that man had a life threatening illness that could've been found today rather than later, but because he had to wait hours on end he decided to leave?! It was unbelievable. I was just terrified out of my mind from the panic attack, so just sitting there for hours and hours on end with no communication really took a toll on me. One of the worst nights/experiences of my life. I will NEVER go here again.

Mayanira Gomez

Waited 3+ hours for a room from the emergency. Not once could someone answer how much longer we had to wait. Really nice people as far as receptionist and security guards. Really mean nurses. Terrible experience.

Simone Kay

Best care from all Nurses and physicians. Best care from physicalphysical physical physical PT

Evelyn Reyes

We have been bringing my grandmother to this hospital for 3 years. They have helped her with her conditions no other hospital found treatments for. And have helped our family understand and taught us how to properly care for her and make her comfortable. Everyone from the nurses, doctors, radiologists, environmental and nutrition staff have been nothing but wonderful we are very lucky to have chosen this as her primary hospital. I know no hospital is perfect but the positives from this hospital far outweigh any negatives including other facility we have been.

Kristian Buur

Overmedicated my wife on oxytocin to start the process resulting in contractions 5 mins apart within half an hour. Most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered for a hospital. They ran out of epidural (!!) For a good half hour and had to send someone out to pick up more. And much much more.

I battled a stage 4 pressure ulcer for over a year at hospitals in the suburbs. It wasn't until one of the doctors at Lutheran General recommended I have a surgery with 6 to 8 week recovery time that I realized a second opinion was necessary. As you might have guessed, I decided on Northwestern Memorial. I informed the doctors at Northwestern that I had been advised I would need surgery and was looking for a second opinion. At this point, the doctors reviewed my history and were in absolute shock that the doctors of the former hospital did not perform one of the most simple, painless, and non invasive tests available. They performed the test and had the results to me within a day or two (this was around Christmas as well). The results of the tests dictated the type of treatment I would need and was promised they would exhaust all options before considering surgery. Within three months, the pressure ulcer healed completely with assistance of medications and other treatments. Thank you Northwestern Memorial for saving me the agony of a major surgery and everything associated with it. Seeking a second opinion at Northwestern might be the best decision I have ever made.

I’m am currently in the Emergency Room. We checked in at 11:00pm on 11/29/18. We had Nurse Hannah. Which did a good job receiving us. But soon as they or (Nurse Hannah), immediately put us out the triage area and stuff my clothing and my wife’s clothes together, mind you she’s the patient. Into (2) garbage bags and pushed us into the hallway. With promises of s waiting bed on the second floor above the emergency room. But after they rolled my wife, Carolynn Simpson into the hall. Where we sat from 12:30 am till 5:48 before Elizabeth S., came over to assist us in, (us) still not knowing what’s going on. Mind you Ms. Nurse Hannah. For location purposes we were in triage #6. So we didn’t have any communication with Hannah at all. Hate to say she had a bad attitude. Not sure what nurse treats her patients in a manner. As we were moved outside in the hallway. Another patient was brought in to triage #6. Whatever was going on in the room. Triage (room without doors) a smell came out and it stunned very bad enough to wake my wife 20 feet away. And make me gag. I asked Nurse Hannah can she assist in slaying something. She smartly answered maybe. So I started asking all the nurses can they spray or move us. With all the people going on and out of this smelly room no one thought to move us. I know it’s busy and they are assisting people. Biut to leave us be in the hallway. They left us unattended, and poorly served. Thanks for having a Nurse like Hannah on your staff. We are not satisfied with thus or the service of a nurse that takes an oath! Sincerely a let down husband of a patient. After they placed us in the hallway there was no communication. My husband had to grab Elizabeth’s attention and ask about being moved to a room and additional questions about medication, and if I could have some water or ice chips (I asked for this when I was in room 6). Elizabeth checked and told me that I couldn’t have anything to eat or drink. I said ok and that nobody told me this earlier. Elizabeth explained when my next dose of antibiotics would be and to let them know if I was in pain and they would see about getting more pain medication. I understand that this is a busy time but we all deserve proper communication. When you’re not feeling well that in itself is scary enough add not knowing what’s Going combined with dealing with staff with bad attitudes that’s makes it more challenging. I’ve been in the hospital since 2:00pm. I started at Weiss and was transported over here. I still only know one thing that I have to see a Ear and throat specialist. It would be nice to know what’s going on.

Caring staff , huge hospital, yet when one walks in everyone , and I do mean everyone helps in any way they can to make my visit pleasant as can be , and thorough

Discriminates against people on Medicaid! For 2 years I've been trying to get a Primary Care Doctor but the entire internal medicine department won't accept new patients with Medicaid. For 10 years all of my specialists have been at Northwestern, I finally wanted to get all my health care at or location but to do that I'd have to travel 70 miles to Greyslake to be seen by a Northwestern PCP! So I've been stuck using Northwestern Immediate Care as my Primary Care when I have any little illness. 2 years without care for 2 chronic pain disorders all because they won't accept me because I'm poor!

I went here yesterday, because I broke one of my toes on my right foot(pinky). It was dislocated... for I must have stubbed it hard against a wall corner. I had to get some bandage wrap on it to support it. I could barely walk, and if I did... i’d limp/ walk weirdly... because I couldn’t feel it at all, and if I tried stepping on it... it would hurt like hell( that I’d scream, or cry). The guy giving me the x-Ray was super funny/nice though, he got me smiling and laughing even when I was in pain, so I applaud him for that. Only down side that removes one star for me is, I sat there for like three hours in the waiting room, feeling nervous/tired(because I also deal with severe anxiety/ocd, and depression), when I saw these two people... one lady in waiting room kept throwing up into a bag, and one man next to me did too. I started to freak out from that, because I didn’t wash my hair that day, and I was scared to catch whatever they had(because I was also touching my face), last thing I want is to catch like three days later or so... whatever they have! And last thing I need, is for it to be deadly! And also I didn’t get enough sleep today(only like 6 hours, cause of the long wait). If you are gonna having patients that are puking nonstop, please at least don’t make them wait in the same room with everyone else... cause last thing I want is to catch what they have. Yikes!

I came to the ER with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms. I was taken immediately for an ECG - though to be honest it was a relatively quiet day. I then went for triage and then immediately set-up for blood work and a chest x-ray. Maybe because of my symptoms or that the hospital wasn’t too busy, but truly everything went quite quickly. Everything came back normal but the doctors recommended I get a stress test. I decided to do so at the hospital and I admitted myself and stayed the night. The stress test was done first thing the morning and I was released in the afternoon. I have to say that every single person I came across - in every department - was nothing but kind, patient, and caring. I never felt I had anything less than their full attention even in the ER when I could tell they were working very quickly to get my vitals and take my blood, etc. I then waited a while for my room, which is understandable as they’re all private. I got to my room too late for food. I was starving so the nurse ran around to find me what he could so I wasn’t hungry. I really appreciated that. The next morning, the two ladies that did my stress test were so nice it was like talking with friends. In fact, all of the nurses and doctors I saw were thorough, explained everything in detail, repeated things when I needed and sat with me as long as I needed. Overall I am really impressed with this hospital and happy to have had a great experience.

If I can give this hospital no star I would. My Dad went to this hospital and they gave him no treatment. All he seen were nurses while he was there and 1 student doctor. While I was there visiting they sent 2 patients to icu. They have no monitors on the patients and my dad is high risk for everything. A nurse told my dad she didn't have time for him that she had another patient. And she was proud that her coworkers call her "warden". I took my dad to this hospital because they're known to be the top hospital but that's fake. I transferred him. DO NOT send your loved one here.

Lindsay Trimble

I went in for emergency surgery yesterday and had the most phenomenal care by every person I encountered. So organized and efficient. I came in screaming due to 10/10 pain in my ovary and had morphine in my veins within 10 minutes, an ekg, ultrasound and procedure scheduled within two hours, and I was recovered and on my way home exactly ten hours after arriving. I’m thankful I live in the same city as Northwestern, as they’ve also been flawless with the birth of my son, his emergency pyloric stenosis surgery, and now mine. Grateful for this amazing organization.

Flip Fernandez

Top 10 in the U.S. and the best in Illinois.

Carlos Navarro

TOP NOTCH ! AS FAR AS HOSPITALS , ONE OF THE VERY BEST ! RECENTLY , CAME BY TO VISIT A FAMILY FRIEND . HEART SURGERY IS NOT A ROUTINE SURGERY AND YOU GET THAT FEELING AT THIS HOSPITAL ! THANKS !

susan fleischhacker

Having to go to the ER sucked but the staff here made it suck a lot less. Every person I encountered here was caring and professional and very competent at their job. I was checked on frequently and given quick treatment that got me back on my feet. The nurses and doctors were very efficient but never made me feel rushed and the casual friendly conversations they managed to have while still performing their jobs did a great deal to calm me down. I am very impressed at an ER that manages to excel at both patient care and patient relations.

Pound for pound, one of the finest hospitals in the United States. If possible try and find the department you wish to visit rather than make an appointment through the central office. Also, the university provides great biographical information on their physicians including education, publications and board certification. The medical center is engaged in major research and the institution continues to grow. It is the most dominant medical center in Chicago, but there are other great hospitals as well including the U of Chicago and Rush Medical Center.

deseree fawn

Primary care doctors are good but I would recommend going to a different hospital for vascular work and orthopedic surgeries. The departments are extremely unorganized and do not care enough to have a sense of urgency for scans, oppointments or surgeries to be completed. Vascular had a lot of wasted oppointments and Orthopedic surgeries get canceled by the doctors just a few hours in advance. Northwestern does not allow a second opinion, you get forced to go to a whole different hospital. I believe northwestern just spends a ton on real estate and marketing and truly is not the best hospital in Chicago.

Sylvia Lee

The 5 stars are for nurse Grace. She helped my father after his surgery on Feb 20 in the recovery room, room number 1049, during the night. We are so very grateful for her care and doing everything she could to help my dad get comfortable. My dad had a lot of complaints but she was so patient and hardworking. She even got a new bed for him! She is an amazing nurse and we really thank her for helping my dad recover after brain surgery.

Sarah Lynch (Galley)

Staff is friendly and very helpful. Love that there is a Starbuck's on site! Location is great for walks. Many site food courts and a few gift shops. Although it is a bit pricey!

Very great and friendly hospital! Love it

Alanna Kalbfleisch

I had an extremely comfortable stay at NMH this weekend. They took wonderful care of me. This teaching hospital has incredibly kind, professional, and down-to-earth doctors, nurses, students, all the way down the board. They left no stone unturned in my tricky situation and I felt very safe in their capable and caring hands. Shout-out to the 13th floor team for making me feel so much better!

I have to give a big thumbs up to EVERYONE on Dr. Tjong's team in Orthopedic. The day of my surgery and every doctor's visit has been beyond exceptional!!! These are the most caring, compassionate, patient and knowledgeable group of professionals that I've ever seen. Northwestern is by far the #1 hospital in Chicago!!! The employees are so contagious with their workplace happiness, that I've since applied. I have to be part of this work family.

Tricia Rodriguez

No one wants to be in the hospital, but if you or a family member needs medical care, this is the place to be. The staff is kind and attentive. In edition, the doctors are intelligent with a great bed side manner.

Liz Congero

Had emergency gallbladder surgery. ALL staff, doctors and nurses were fantastic and very attentive. I live in Florida. Too bad we don’t have any hospital as good as this one.

julie todaro

Ultra clean..friendly staff in lobby

Mary Akers

I took my Daughter, Victoria to the Emergency Room yesterday and I have to say that the nurse Elizabeth who took care of her on the Mezzanine Level or the ER was Wonderful! She informed us step by step of what was and would happen throughout our visit. Very pleasant answering all of our questions and calming our fears. Efficient and cheery the whole time. Having to visit the ER is never a Pleasant Experience and yet Elizabeth made it Not So Bad!

Bill Wilson

What every hospital should aspire to be! Nursing staff is wonderful: competent, caring and responsive. Doctors are extremely knowledgeable and thorough, have an array of technology at their disposal to diagnose and treat your malady, and also interact with patient about the care you receive. The remainder of the staff is helpful and polite. If you come or are taken to this hospital, you’re fortunate

Maria Stiles

A great complex to look for your arteries and be able to get those cared Services that u can’t even begin to name them all. My life story started long time ago at here.

Latrice Love

Northwestern is the best Hospital they really care about Their Patients , I absolutely love my doctors there amazing services everytime I been seen here

John Sagami

Remodeled: smaller ER waiting room AND longer wait times. Arrived around 11AM and still waiting at 4PM. NW Urgent Care on Belmont sent is and said they would hook up to a heart monitor to the Senior Citizen I am helping. Said all would be in notes. Nope. Didn't happen. ER triage was surprised no treatment or tests were done at Urgent Care. Appears to have been a breakdown that left GAP in service. __________________________ Because there are not enough rooms, they are forced to use ER spaces as temporary rooms, gurney waiting, and staging areas. Maybe having so many medical groups practicing in the hospital building was not such a good idea. Business is good, service is bad. Why can't they run a hospital with service that would risk the original Marshall Fields. Guess it wouldn't be profitable.

George Gaza

I came to Northwestern ER with concerns of a ruptured appendix. They checked me in and left me to sit in the waiting room for FIVE hours in pain. I dont think you should ever have to wait 5 hours for an emergency. I wont go back here again. Im going to Rush.

Diane Best

This is the Ritz Carlton of hospitals! I grew up in hospitals (mom and dad had health issues) and my husband has been in different hospitals 4 times this year. Northwestern got it right. Unbelievably warm, friendly and welcoming service from everyone - from surgeons, doctors, RNs, PCTs, housekeeping and food staff. Felt like I was in a dream - cannot get service like this in most places - and never expect this in a hospital. Thank you to everyone who treated my husband so quickly, safely and professionally. Your staff is amazing!

Eligeorge A

This is a world-class teaching hospital. I’ve been treated for cancer here, operated on 4 times and received countless scans and tests. With the exception of very few times, my treatment and staff experiences were EXCELLENT. But the one-star reviews of the ER are getting me hot under the collar. Look, I broke my wrist very badly—it was a “dinner fork deformity” break (look up an image). This was before Covid, and I had to wait 3 hours to be seen because a multi-car accident required all hands on deck. Yes, I was in pain and incovenienced—because they were trying to save ppls lives! Covid is pushing hospital ERs to the limit. And yes, people in greater crisis than you get to butt in line. Don’t go to the ER unless it’s a freakin’ ENERGENCY, and then prepare yourself for a long wait. The whole country is in a state of emergency. If you must give some one a one-star rating, save it for the CDC. And get your COVID vaccination!

Iris DeSalvo Morris

The best.

The best care that I needed! In Chicago Police jargon, I was “kissed by a bus” in Rush Hour downtown. Don’t remember it. Lost consciousness several times. The CFD paramedics took me to the NM ER. Saw and tried to coherently talk to several very good ER doctors and a surgeon. They LISTENED. Nursing care was great - my concussion seemed worsen and I lost all balance. Had several CTscans and was moved to a room early in the morning. My first experience with the nurses up there who looked over me was not good. Bossy. That was my only bad experience with an outstanding bunch of nurses and pct’s. I had a lot of pain and vertigo issues and wouldn’t eat. They were my cheer leaders every day. The shift supervisors, overnight nurses and the wonderful day shift nurses - I cannot praise enough! The PT folks were patient and great. One connected me to my current PT doc. The doctors were listening and did not breeze through in the night. Only my last day’s doc didn’t listen - wanted me out the day that I was first able to walk with a cane. Thank you, Northwestern Hospital!

Nov 2017 My wife got sent to the ER during her business trip and I️ am very thankful for the professional team of staff here that took great care of her. I️ took the next flight out and it gave me great piece of mind she was in great care. I️ was even more blown away after I️ arrived to see she was very well taken care of. Bottom line, it’s the high caliber staff that is here and we have seen our fair share of good Hospital. This one is GREAT and wish similar one was in NJ. Keep up the great work and personal thank you from a worried husband. Now I️ just gotta find a one way ticket back home with my beautiful smiling wife :)

Ms.LadyRoweDeVonn1212

They are always on point answer questions, understanding and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable due to your circumstances.

Martin VanAmerongen

I was born here 31 years ago and I think I turned out alright so this place is awesome. If I'm back in chicago and I break my leg you know where I'm going? You guessed it.. Northwestern Memorial and we are going to rave it so hard there. God bless the troops.

Alison Riess

Kudos to the wonderful hospital.....They saved my life multiple times AND my Father's many times as well. GOD Bless the the entire staff...!!!

Mike Denault

I was thoroughly impressed with the E.R. here. My girlfriend came in with a severe migraine and dehydration. They started her on fluids and began treatment within a half hour and before she was even registered, on a Saturday night! Their efficient approach provided her with much quicker relief than we expected. The staff was friendly and responsive to her needs. Great job! We will come back if we need care while in Chicago.

Zach

This hospital system is a scam. I went for a preventative annual physical exam. I discussed a medical concern with the doctor during the same visit and now the hospital is trying to double bill for 2 office visit charges as a result. Shady billing practices that discourage patients from raising medical issues. Won't be returning to their system or recommending anyone go there.

Scxr Aj

I was visiting a patient and couldn't locate the building Prentice and ask this young gentleman who seem was in a hurry but in the end offered to walk us to the building which was 2 buildings over. Such a kind man and his name was Kobie Samuel.

Crystal Hayes

Fast and caring specialty medicine! I go over 65 miles to go here so it's a good place for me and the services I need

Janie Sanford

I have had nothing but positive interactions with the doctors here. But the STAFF. I've had nothing but issues with Northwestern staff. Billing, appointment scheduling, even prescription refills, ALL of these things have been handled so inappropriately by staff. It's clear to me that Northwestern has no standards for support staff. Half of the time, the staff doesn't even bother to read my messages before responding rudely, or with an answer to a question I didn't even ask, while my actual questions are ignored. If you want to stay a top-notch medical group, increase the hiring standards for the staff and ensure that they treat patients fairly. The only reason this review isn't one star is because my PCP and Orthopaedic Surgeon are so wonderful.

Richard London

OK. I have experienced death here and I have experienced life. I chose life!

Grace Joh

My review is sorely for the 'Prentice Women's Hospital'. I used this hospital twice for my babies birth - one in 2013 and another one in 2015. I am pretty happy with the experience overall. Service, cleanness, knowledge of staffs, etc. triage staffs are very professional. They try to handle things in timely manner as well. Birth center staffs are also excellent. All the nurses and doctors are the best. Only thing that I was not satisfied with are nurses' professionalism from the care room after the birth. Last time, I had to report one nurse who made me very uncomfortable with my baby care and her attitude....too bad. other nurses were okay. This time, overall it was okay but since their Triage and birth center nurses were so professional...You will compare the services that you get..However, there was one fine nurse that I met on my last night before doctor releases me....She was so professional with a baby and care of mom who just gave a birth. She made everything fine and put a smile on my face. My recommendation for those moms that will stay at the hospital after the birth, just ask and don't be shy. You will stay there only for few days to a week max (most of the time, excepts are always happened), make yourself comfortable.

What an amazing experience (given the context). I came in through the ER a couple days ago because I was having EXTREME abdominal pain. The nurses checked me out and took blood samples to confirm the suspicion of appendicitis. They booked me for emergency surgery and within hours I had my appendix removed. What sweet relief. Everyone from the front desk, the nurses, the residents and students were extremely kind to me in this chaotic environment. The nurses in surgery were extremely helpful whenever I needed anything. This was my first time having surgery done and without their kind hearts, I would have been a nervous wreck. Abena was such a sweetheart and took such great care of me overnight making sure I was comfortable and able to sleep. The rooms were clean, private and quiet and the entire staff checked on me during my stay to make sure everything was taken care of. Dr. Nabil Issa performed my surgery along with his chief resident surgeon and team. They were outstanding and put me at ease before, during and after my treatment answering every question I had was patience, care and understanding. I owe them many many thank yous, they were great. The nurses at ER were my first contact with staff when I was taken in and I could tell they are very busy in the thick of it but they were on their toes and checked on me so much and kept up a great mood even though they were running around like crazy taking care of everyone all at once. They work so hard! Those ladies and gentlemen are troopers! Thank you for providing such a great experience during and in such a stressful event. I would recommend anyone to go here. If I grew another appendix and it became inflamed, I'd be right back here in a heartbeat. Thank you!!

Chi- town breeze

Terrible patient services. Terrible hospital. No one wants to help you.

Celeste Mendez

I want to say that at Women’s Prentice Hospital 6th Floor they took such good care of me. Dr.Kenton,Dr.Brown,Dr.Warner,Dr.Pappas, The RN Sophia,Linda and Kelly!! If I missed a name sorry. They’re the best care team and I would recommend anyone needing surgery for women issues should come here!!! They informed me well made me feel comfortable and at ease,Made sure my pain was managed and took their time in all they did!! Thank you all for caring so well for me!! God Bless each one of my Care team !!!

William Jones

A relative had surgery here and the nursing staff was very friendly. In fact they were probably the friendliest of any other hospital I've been to! Security is a bit lacking though for such a big hospital. We were able to walk around with no passes while there for 7+ hours and nobody ever asked us about it. Could walk into any wing in any floor without seeing people that work security. Other than that, everything was great.

Am I a person, or a wallet with legs? As a longtime Chicago resident with a couple of health problems, I've seen my fair share of Northwestern Memorial — the emergency room, primary care and specialists. Northwestern employs many wonderful practitioners and has clean, spacious and well-maintained facilities. As far as hospitals go, the optics are good and I would imagine that quality of care is as well. This should be a five-star hospital. It's not. Over the years, I've observed a consistent pattern in interactions with Northwestern — a common, but nevertheless inexcusable pattern in large healthcare networks: 1. Northwestern enjoys the benefits of nearly monopolized access to primary and secondary care in many specialities downtown, having consolidated so many practices into their network. Consequently, prices are high. However, the claimed benefits of superior care coordination never materialize. Doctors' offices — let alone doctors — do not talk to each other. At all. Recently, it took a concerted month-long effort from my wife and me simply to **schedule** a rheumatology appointment after receiving a referral to see a rheumatologist from my primary care physician who is also employed by Northwestern and works out of a Northwestern building. 2. It seems that costs are dramatically inflated due to totally unnecessary amenities which allow Northwestern to justify high prices but which do not affect quality of care. For example, my insurance was recently billed north of $2,000 for a simple ultrasound (of which I paid quite a large chunk due to deductibles). This is a procedure which costs 1/5 to 1/10 of that in some places. I guess the plush chairs and the waiting room gowns are nice, but I'm not rich enough to prefer that over a cheaper ultrasound. 3. Billing trumps nearly all other concerns, including accuracy. I cannot tell you how many times my wife or I have received unexpected bills, duplicate bills, bills months or years after the fact... even bills for amounts which had previously been "settled" with the hospital. Once, after a pretty nasty bike crash in which I was hit by a car and not exactly thinking straight afterwards, I went to the ER at Northwestern and was told by a receptionist that they don't take insurance! Obviously not true, but at the time, I wasn't in a frame of mind to argue. Recently, Northwestern have begun to tell you about "unpaid" bills at check-ins for unrelated appointments. For example, I recently had my annual physical, which included some blood tests, for which there was apparently a bill. I have not yet received the bill. The receptionist at a doctor's office for a follow-up appointment with a specialist — a different doctor in a different office in a different building — was sure to announce out loud that I had a ~$70 unpaid bill while I was checking in. This is surely quite effective given my presumption that the shame I felt in the moment — totally unjustified shame, given this is a bill I never received and did not know the origin of at the time — must be shared by many people. Blindsiding people in this nature about bills, and shaming them to boot, is a disgusting tactic. Overall, I remain fortunate to have decent insurance and access to doctors at Northwestern. However, I believe that Northwestern is (1) not at all delivering on the promise of a consolidated health care network, (2) privileging aesthetics and amenities which appeal to rich people who visit the hospital, but which all people who visit the hospital subsidize whether or not they are rich and (3) engaging in motivated-ly sloppy, if not outright obnoxious billing practices.

Please educate your staff. Patients are unable to see the details of an order on MyChart patient portal.

Best hospital I've ever been to. When my dad had urinary issues back on Thanksgiving Day 2014, I took him there and the way they treated us was outstanding. Excellent doctors and caring nurses.

Diana Kirtland

Urology department. Great staff. Organized with kiosk to be sure each patient seen in an orderly manner. Very clean atmosphere. Be sure to get parking validated at desk near parking area, 2nd floor or the front desk area in area seeing your doctor. Save $$ on parking. Keep track of which floor you park .. the floors look similar. ????????

Pablo Lopez Flores

This is a great hospital, it has high end technology and great treatments that help people health smoothly.

npperez29

The worst patient and medical service I’ve ever seen. My dad has developed a bed sore and no one even checks. They left my weak dad unattended in the bathroom. He has not had any sleep for 3 nights even with sleeping medication and no one wants to do anything about it. He had a sitter the first night he was in ICU and that sitter let my dad pull his NG tube and arterial line. Now he can’t walk because he is too weak. Worst patient care and high liability for safety.

Thomas Volini

I am so impressed with the Rheumatologist Dr. Chase Correia. He is clear and concise, he listens and takes the time to both understand and communicate his findings and recommendations. Another great reason to visit a wonderful hospital with the finest staff. I am adding to this review because I have recently been treated by more of the physicians with whom I am so impressed. So for a brief rundown of the treating physicians I can recommend the following for their wisdom, professionalism and advocacy: Ken Hayes in internal medicine (who else would take the time and interest to examine lab work and imaging ordered by other medical groups; Jane Wilcox in cardiology--so competent in her own right (she works so well with specialists in related fields like pulmonology and then gets the best team together for the task); Richard Engel in urology, (smart, organized, plain spoken); Alex Sheng in orthopedics (a young man but an old school, hands on physician who pays as much attention to the patient--or more--than to blood work and imaging). Thank you all so much!

MOHAMMED UDDIN

Horrible First they said waiting time eight hours. Now it became twelve hours. I am leaving this place.

Prof. Ron Wang, MSA

My wife gave birth to our first baby there. Perfect. Top ranking children hospital in the U.S.

Patricia Almaraz-Loza

My dad is in ICU for a stroke and seizures and the doctors and nurses are amazing I can’t say enough how greatful we are to them for how they have cared for my father they don’t offer long term care here so we are not looking forward to moving him to a long term facility we will definitely miss the services he has received at this hospital and thank each and every person who cared for my father during his stay here ????????????

Harold Rail

NorthWestern Memorial has absolutely the best doctors, nurses and healthcare support personnel available, most likely in the nation. I did have an issue with billing but they completely took care of it through friendly and knowledgeable phone representatives. The only negative I've ever experienced with NWM has been their marketing department. If someone could bring them up to snuff then they'd really have something.

Mommy Majic

The whole staff if amazing! Even if they're a little busy in the E.R. they keep you updated on whats going on. And how soon they may be able to get you to the back. Gloria in registration has a beautiful personality. She made me feel really at home.

Joshua Bagley

The doctors and nurses are fantastic but the security officers are very unprofessional and to damn nosey and running the hospital like they are cops. I have done reported them to the state to have a full investigation done on them.

Michael Donley

The staff respectfully and professionally aided my Wife to recover.

Hogan Linda

If you're are register within the hospital you'll get pretty good service

John Welsh

It's a great a hospital offering the best care for patients and support for those who visit and work there. The mezzanine / food court has the best nutrtious offerings and there is is plenty of comfortable seating area with usb charging and outlets for laptops.

Alex Dodge

Terrible patient care. Arrived at 6:30 PM, and still here @ 12:35 AM. Absolutely ridiciouls, mind you, my girlfriend is pregnant and we've seen a Dr. for a total of 30 seconds. They don't treat patient's like human beings. The WOSRE hospital I've ever been to. If your in need of medical care go elsewhere or your probably going to die, especially if its life threatening. HEED THESE WORDS

As of October in 2016, this hospital has a 3.5 star rating? Compared to Swedish covenant which has a 3.2 star rating? I know that things happen at Northwestern and they aren't what they were a few years ago but seriously, compared to other options in Chicago, this hospital should have 10 stars. If you go to the majority of the other options in and around the city, they do not come close to level of staff, facilities, number and comfort of beds, food, location, age of buildings, level/experience of physicians, nurses and other staff etc and just the number of staff… I am floored by the rating that this hospital has. Seriously, just for fun, go to Resurrection or Swedish Covenant the next time you need to be admitted to the hospital. Go to the emergency room and see what the difference is.... The technology alone.... I am just blown away by how much I have taken Northwestern for granted all these years. Yes, the parking is expensive and they certainly aren't perfect and have lost some phenomenal doctors in the last few years but they still deserve at least a 5 Star rating. I had brain surgery at this hospital with several additional admissions and my mom battled cancer and major heart issues… All with the best rated doctors in the city and in the case of my brain surgeon, in the world. I cannot believe their rating. Admit someone from your family to another hospital in the city and try to go home without feeling incredibly guilty. Northwestern is absolutely the best hospital in the Midwest for all the reasons I listed and more. The ambulance had to take my mom to Swedish Covenant tonight and while everyone is nice....the rooms, staff, facilities, parking, technology etc are all so much better at Morthwestern....PLUS the sense of urgency of Northwestern....I am just sorry that I did not write this review sooner. I recommend this hospital to everyone and always have but it really takes going to other hospitals to see how good we have it here.

ISA X

I'm scared the nurses going to sneak and look at my files! Lol now you know the media outlets are trying to get info and paid those poor women, & got them fired.

Zinaida K.

I have no idea how this place is naming itself best American (and, possibly, world) clinic. Takes forever to make an appointment, waiting time is hours with an appointment, doctors are just prescribing antibiotics without any tests, it is impossible to get any help from the phone, mychart app is completely disfunctional.

Karrie Viscogliosi

My husband was hospitalized for 10 days at the beginning of this year on the Nephrology floor. He came in over the holidays and due to that fact, he was cared for in the most basic of ways for almost 5 days until the hospital retained their full capacity of care. The nurses were kind and helpful. The Dr's however were hard to understand and didn't listen to what we had to say. The team of Dr's was unorganized in the way that one would come in to speak to us, and then another would come in and contradict what we were already told. It was very stressful. The biggest complaint with the hospital was our visit to the chapel. There was not one cross in the room. As a Christian, the cross is a central part of worship and prayer. I felt as though my needs in the chapel were not considered at all and we left the room feeling worse than when we walked in. We hope not to have to visit Northwestern Memorial anytime again in the future.

Drake Dre Reffy

This hospital used to be a five star establishment now it is three stars at best they need to better manage the ER and better manage their outpatient clinics no one wants to be told that it will be three months to see their specialist I will be looking for other doctors offices

MidwestCanada MiyakeMugler

Waited for 9 hours and was told it could be a 15 hour wait. I’m so confused as to where all the money is going? There was enough staff but just not enough rooms in the ER.

Real Talk with Timothy Lee Lee

Today was our first experience with Northwestern. I was told it was a top tier hospital. I am comparing them to my Mayo Clinic experiences as well. I only gave 2 stars because we were never told what the issue was with my wife. The doctor never came back and the nurse wasn’t aware that the doctor hadn’t closed out the ER visit, which was 6 hours. Certain hypothesis were made regarding the chest pain, however, the doctor forgot to address this in the end. No summation at all from them. Very disappointing! We leave with questions. If the situation was gastro as was discussed, why wasn’t that discussed further prior to leaving? The doctor had said he would do that prior to our departure, I guess he forgot, unlike Mayo! Very disappointing experience and I will be reaching out to the hospital administration about the level of care extended.

Lauren B

They're on their game. They know how to handle their patients and are very...very...considerate and just overall have lovely staff. This has always been my go to hospital and always will be. I could be going through the worst pain ever and they will make sure that I am completely taken care of. I reccomend to EVERYONE!

Ashley McBride

I had to go to the ER for stomachs pains. World class care and I am deeply appreciative. But waiting 4 hours to be seen by a physician was completely ridiculous. Still, I have to say the care I received once the docs saw me was amazing

Rocio Linares

I am a nurse. I went to the ER today, I felt horrible. The doctors were incredible and efficient, the problem was the discharge nurse. I had IV fluids, and I was placed in one of those new "pod rooms" to finish the IV fluids. The RN comes in with my discharge paperwork and takes off the IV before the solution is finished. I told her, you said you were going to discharge me after the fluids finished. She said, "it's a cup, you can drink a cup of water at home." In nursing school, we are taught bedside manners, unfortunately, this nurse did not have any. Before I left, administration came in to verify my information, she gave me the estimate bill for my ER visit, $6000. I am certain the IV solution is included in the bill. My entire family is treated here, nurses like her make the experience unforgettable, in the worst way.

Sandy Lacy

Went to emergency with a breathing issue. Sat for 4 hours without seeing a doctor. A man vomited on the floor and, after 15 minutes, they covered it with paper. I left. Don't waste your time.

Kelly O'Leary

The doctors and staff are friendly, kind and helpful.

Diva Magical Nails

Today I visited with my mother since she was scheduled for a surgery everything was great. Until the end when she had to get her stitches done. The doctor put the anesthesia and said the effect will take 10 minutes or a little more. I will come back at that time. 1 hour and 25 minutes passed and nothing. They came into the room I had to speak to 3 people so the procedure could get done. When they came in it wasn't even the doctor that was supposed to stitch her up. He just open the door a little and gave instructions to the other doctor not even an apology. Really you don't do this kind of stuff if you don't care about your patients don't work in this field please do patients who trust you a favor.

Sabrina Gaytan

Need more medical staff to handle the patient load. In the waiting room been waiting to be sent to the room for 7 hours

Ashley Sundquist

NMH is such a comfortable place for a hospital stay in downtown Chicago. It’s clean without feeling “too sterile” and the artistic installations throughout the building evoke a sense of home. There are about a dozen restaurants on the 2nd floor at reasonable prices. Thank you to our amazing surgical team led by Dr. Gregory Dumanian! We loved our 12th floor nurses including, Alyssa, Ro and Lindsay. The pre-op nurses and PCTs were also all-stars and the 12th floor chef Monica made a delicious dinner and husband for my husband who has a ton of food allergies. Pro Tips: - All Ride Shares can be accessed in the Gelter Pavilion by the Arrivals entrance - The Walgreens Pharmacy on the 2nd floor has everything you need for an unexpected overnight stay

Shaggy Wau

I was in and out quickly. The Dr knew exactly what was wrong. I feel much much better Thank you Northwestern!!

Lisa Mislan

My daughter spent 10 hours in the waiting room with a fractured arm after a biking accident. Additionally, SHE had to as for a wheelchair (leg was hurt). No one offered a wheelchair and no one offered anything for 10 hours. Would love a call from Northwestern to inquire about their level of care.

Arian Gojraty

The emergency room is so so dirty and they had us waiting for 5 hours while they were treating so careless. I do not recommend this garba.. sorry, hospital at all

Brooklyn G

Northwestern was the closest hospital to me when I had a medical emergency in the middle of the night. The staff seemed very friendly until I ended up in the MICU. I endured test after test yet were not told what they were for, nor never got any results. Two doctors there left me shaking my head and almost intubated against my will. A procedure was conducted against my will after first being given the choice to do it or not and when I chose NOT, all of a sudden 10 minutes later the dr returned stating I had not choice in the matter and they were coming to perform it. It was never discussed why I had no choice. I will be filing complaints with the appropriate governing boards once I seek legal advice.

Naydia Williams

We are from out of town and came to Chicago to assist our daughter for school. Unfortunately, my husband took ill and had to be admitted. We are currently here now, and thus far, the care is exceptional. I am fearful, for my husband, and our family and I do not want to leave my husband of thirty years alone in the hospital. I am a masters prepared nursing supervisor and I am fully aware of the COVID restrictions, visitors restrictions and policies surrounding overnight stay. Administration has the final call on this topic, and I was just informed by the nursing administrator Abby, I would be allowed to stay another night ( this wold be the second night) but if my husband is here past tomorrow night I will NOT be allowed to stay. Again, we are from out of town, and my husband should not be alone. Administration has the final say and what they are saying to me in this moment of fragility for my family is typical of the system to ensure they keep our families separated, and to exert their authority/dominion over us. This is the ultimate display of supremacy. Thank you to the ED staff! GOD Bless us all.

tonya lambn

I rate because the company as a whole is a very nice place to work and patient care is a #1 priority but, as a former employee for Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital Sterile Processing Dept. I would give the company ⭐⭐⭐ I worked there for 4 yrs and a total of 8-10 ppl have left prior to me the SUPERVISOR IS A VERY TOXIC PERSON to have in charge of an entire dept says myself and all those that left prior to me

sammy566

Nurses are great! ER waiting room is the pits! I had a liver transplant two weeks ago. Today due to a number on my blood test was too elevated I was asked to come to the ER. Mind you. Right now I have no immune system. I explained my problem to the check in staff and they told me it's still 4.1/2 hour wait. So far 3.1/2 hours surrounded by an unknown number of sick people, some of them with viruses and germs. Still waiting. Imagine if it wasn't a ER.

Joe Gregory

This hospital is very unorganized. I had an appointment 3 months ahead and sent them files that they were supposed to look at. Well I drive 3 hours there and when I get there the doctor hasn't looked at anything and tells me "We didn't receive them". So he had no idea what was going, then right before we leave he comes in and says "We found it we did receive it. I will look at them and give you a call if I see anything." So I drove 3 hours for this doctor to tell me basically "I will give you a phone call" This was the worst hospital/doctor I have ever dealt with and I strongly do not suggest this hospital.

john curran

Good luck on trying to have Northwestern Med. send you a hard copy of your visits. Three calls weeks apart, nothing. Everybody was nice we will send then. Still nothing.

T Hicks

Awesome healthcare professionals and facility! They really helped myself and children at a difficult time in my life. The emergency department were awesome. They made sure we were comfortable and even offered us snacks and breakfast. May God truly bless them!! Compassionate people there. One does not understand compassion until they have really experienced some real hardships in life. The people there understand the following two life quotes I live by: Never kick someone when they are down AND Be careful how you treat the next being. The advocates and er clerk and social workers and nurses and food services and security...... Thankyou!!!

Girlfriend got hit with kidney stones while we were visiting Chicago. In a frantic Google search for the closest emergency room I noticed so many 1 star reviews for this hospital specifically and was debating driving a little forther to another hospital, but realized that was dumb given the amount of pain she was in (was vomiting from the pain). We get there and the whole experience was absolutely wonderful.. The nurse (shout out Rachel) the doctors and all the staff were absolutely attentive and super friendly. Also shout out to the CT guy Anthony! Another very friendly person we interacted with that gave us a ton of laughs during a terrible experience.

Ronda Beyer

Staff and Dr's were wonderful, however leaving somebody in post-op for close to 6 hours supposedly waiting for a room is ridiculous. Dr came down after surgery @11am no communication at all for 4hours till I asked that was at 3PM was told at 3:30 a room was ready after 5PM now and still waiting. Guess if you have State of Illinois insurance plan on being here till whenever they feel like getting around to you. Bottom line is that if I wouldn't have asked not sure would have been told anything. Total BS

Viku Bhai

Took my wife to the hospital for a emergency visit and was done with our appointment in 3 hours which is expected in an emergency. We loved the staff service and found them to be really passionate in what they do, specially Kenya who made our experience good. Would have given 5 star except for the wait time which I feel they can improve in future

Jean Russell

Fantastic place. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond from registration to the Cath lab nurses. The ICU nurses on the 9th floor deserve a 20 score on the 1-10 scale. An amazing group of people.

wellness ashland

Great service at the Lavin building, the doctors and the nurses are professional. Highly recommended this hospital

lamar rieves

From what I see they have the best doctors and medical personal. My mother was admitted yesterday and she had a long wait in the ER but then was treated very well. However she was alseep today and some random person came in and stole her purse right out her room. They are working fast to get a police report but this would not have happened if they had tighter security and more strict rules and more people to work security. Very poor security measures.

L Page

A few of the nurses during my husbands visit in the ICU were not good at answering questions and a few were downright rude. This was very disappointing

LeMarsha Carter

I've been a long time patient at this medical facility and I have always received stellar care in every department that I've interacted with.

Ron Herzberg

From the mapping to the insertion of the Y-90 pellets my care was awesome. They called to check up on me and were amazingly attentive to my needs. I would recommend the Interventional Radiolgy Team at Nortwestern to anyone that needs their services.

gorillianpark

Although their fees are higher, their medical care is exceptional. Been to gastro and endocrinology. All the doctors take their time (at least for me so far) and take extra steps to make sure everything is right. They are knowledgeable and patient. Their exams and diagnosis are thorough and logical. I feel like I have been under a very good medical care with them. Yes, the fees are higher but I guess you get what you pay for. Highly recommended to everyone.

Caroline Garcia

Did not receive the care I was expecting

Nicola Catrambone

Is there anyone that works here without a pretentious attitude? Never seen a place that is meant to save lives yet hated people so much. This place is good at medical procedures, to say otherwise would be intellectually dishonest. However, I would probably rather die prematurely than be treated by those people.

Donna C

Great people and Doctors but scheduling tests is horrible experience. Even with choosing to get an automated call back you wait or 20 minutes to talk to somebody. I spent over an hour waiting to talk to somebody only to find out I couldn't even schedule what I needed

Jane

To make an appointment for an annual physical, I waited on hold for 33 min, then called back to get a 'call back' because the recording said that my 'time is valuable'. After receiving the call back, I was on hold for 24 min before a live person answered the phone. The actual conversation was probably 90 sec. I disagree that making me wait on hold for 24 min shows you value my time. Absurd service for a supposedly world class hospital.

sandy camarena

I had my baby there in January, my doctor was amazing, things were not looking so good for my baby and I and a team of about 20 medical staff rushed in within seconds. Everything turned out fine, then the nursing staff was great for the rest of the stay. Love it!

Cindy E

The team of doctors and nurses were truly incredible. Compassionate, caring, and sympathetic are a few words that describe Dr Yancy, Dr. Gupta, and Dr Anderson along with the rest of their team who did everything they could, and spared no expense to try to save my family member despite all of her organs failing. It was nothing short of heroic.

Cassandra Steele

I was told my Left bundle branch Block was Nothing. Went to another hospital out of town and found out my Left bundle branch had actually caused electrical Scarring. Had to receive a pacemaker some where else. Be careful going here possible misdiagnosis. Do your research people if you feel this hospital has given you the wrong diagnosis. Also the doctors are extremely rude and not empathic at all.

kwesi hopkins

My experience was pretty good.

Karin Bitely

Terrible. They charged me $1,300 for a step test! Not to mention the doctor almost just blew me off because he "Didn't see anything" and the nurse had to point out to him the huge craters and white puss in the back of my throat. On top of it all I just got a call from a debt collector after working out a payment plan with then that I've been paying! Never go to this hospital.

Elaine Hynson

Great facility, really spread out, reminds you of a campus.

Pamela Walker

I have utilize Northwestern Hospital for over twenty five years. I travel two hours to this hospital because of the stellar service and clean conditions. I had my children at the hospital with some fine doctors. I was extremely disappointed last night when my husband went to the emergency room. The lobby was dirty and I did not want to sit there or put my personal belongings down. The emergency treatment room floors and room was nasty. This does not seem like a five star hospital and the services I am used to receiving. My husband was in a lot of pain and had to wait for several hours to see a doctor. The doctors and team were knowledgeable and professional but the conditions of the hospital was horrible. Northwestern has a lot of A list donors and funding for the hospital. This is not acceptable. No one sick should have to receive services like last night. This is an absolute nightmare for me and my family.

A Christ

Easily the worst hospital I have ever been to. I was rushed here in an ambulance due to an allergic reaction. I was put into a corner room and not given a wristband. Thirty minutes later a doctor (or perhaps a nurse) walked in and asked who I was and why I was here. I told them, they said they would be back right away to give me a wristband, and leave. This happened about 6-7 times and I was never given a wristband or even a proper diagnosis. Finally after about 2.5 hours, a doctor asked, "why are you still even here?" And then sent in a doctor who wrote me 4 prescriptions and basically told me to leave. But no worries, at the beginning of the visit they had someone come in to get all my billing/demographics so they could then send me a $1,700+ without even sending it to my insurance. When I called the billing department to give them my information, they tried to tell me it wasn't active. I assured them it was, and they told me "it's not their policy" to reach out to my insurance for eligibility verification. I called my insurance and they left the hospital a message confirming my plan was in fact active with no response. I have been going back and forth with their billing department for nearly 5 months now with no luck. This place is ran by a bunch of people who are not qualified to properly do their jobs. Terrible customer service. One representative literally made me cry on the phone and another angrily transferred me to her manager who never returned my voicemail. Seriously, avoid this joke of a facility at all costs.

Carolina Garza-Gongora

I had an appointment with a Dr from northwestern, she did not ask about my symptoms nor did she offer any advice on medication or anything to feel better. Was really weird honestly

Flor Duran

Terrible service! My wife requested her medical records over a month ago and still waiting. The worst customer service... I hope I never hear the name of this hospital again????

Brailyn Rhodes

Successful living donor kidney transplant done at Northwestern. Incredible surgeons, doctors, and nurses. This was the first hospital of the many i have been too that I felt actually listened to my concerns and treated me properly. Quick and respectful communication. Thank you a million times over to the amazing staff for saving my life!

J Lewis

The incompetence of hospital billing departments is legendary, but for whatever reason, I thought it would be different at a well-known, established institution. I gave them my insurance information 3 times before my treatment ended because for whatever reason, the system didn't save it. My insurance provider had also assured me that they have received the bills from the hospital. Imagine my surprise when I start to receive calls 4 months later from the billing department. I returned the call with the number they provided twice -- LONG HOLDS, no human response. "Luckily" they call back. I was able to catch one of them and spoke to a lady who told me that I need to pay the bill. I told them that it should be going through insurance. She told me that they don't have any of the insurance information on file. With my luck, I didn't have the address of my provider handy, so I had to call back.....long hold later, I get someone on the line who says, "I see here that the bill was sent to your insurance. How can I help you?" Wow. I can't wait for the next call.

Sandra Montoya

Service isn’t so bad but billing department is so bad that maybe should be considered to be replaced. They should keep in mind that people go to a hospital for emergencies not for fun and having to deal with people that are not sensitive at all makes the situation even worse. I had to deal with someone named Jesse or Jacky and she’s such a rude person.

GERTRUDE Knitell

the staff, doctors and residents cutting edge. I was there a week. sheets/bed never changed. floor never swept or mopped with disinfectant. food ok. again, went for a test and was diagnosed with a rare form of dystrophy I've had all my life and not one doctor caught it until there. Great neirologists.

Juan Ram

Great Hospital nice peaple all Doctors will !answer all ur questions I was Diagnose with cancer and they bin like my second Family and kind an will comfort you in anyway u need help with great Doctors am still in my first treatment wit God and virgin Mary by my side everything will be ok

Joseph Kosiek

Have been a patient since 2015 for a very rare cancer. They have been very good for me, my cancer is in remission for 4 1/2 years.

Tunes Nechita

This is a hospital I would want to be at. I had a TIA @ 30. I spent a good 5 days in the hospital. The neurologist, cardiologists and everyone else was excellent. Top doctors. Very clean, updated friendly nurses. I later signed on as a volunteer on the neuro surgical floor and would be there 14+hrs on Thursdays. I cant tell you what an incredible cafeteria they have. Every food option one wants. I find myself going there for lunch randomly. Great hospital.

ka te

At Northwestern the social worker and resident on staff was so eager to get rid of my mom they discharged her without my permission to a rehab facility that did not have her dialysis solution on New Years Eve. The rehab said they couldn't do the exchanges because they didn't have the solution. Basically giving my mom a death sentence.

Wayne Marquardt

My husband has been at this hospital many times and he has received the best of care from doctors and nurses. I am deeply grateful because it looked like I was going to lose him, I truly thank the team of doctors that saved his life. I spoke with Dr. Tang and he was very clear explaining things to me , great doctor. For those I did not see or speak to, please know I am very grateful for your dedication and kindness, you are angels of mercy. Sincerely Marilyn Marquardt

Amy Rivera

I had surgery! The nurse had sticker me for ivy seven times. My hand got swollen I was bedridden the nurses were really bad :( I had to ask multiple times for things! I’m very sad they lost that caring staff.

Eleanor Franks

Love Northwestern Hospital and Staff always professional and really care for me. Courtney is the best and Stephanie love both.

Derek Russell

So very inconsiderate and unprofessional. Definitely going elsewhere next time

Donna K.

Fantastic hospital with caring clinicians who are highly skilled!

Dee Dee

I hate hospitals but NMH is amazing. Great staff from doctors to nurses to tranport and all the way through. Very friendly and caring, attentive and patient.

Ales Me

I've been in/out of hospitals with crohnic issues for nearly 50 yrs. I have never run across such impersonal nurses. One nurse rocked in my 3 day stay. Maybe it's just a sign of the times, but something is wrong when you are admitted to a room from ER, the door is closed and you see no one for 2 1/2 hrs, and that was only because I called and asked if I'd see a nurse before morning.. At one point, two nurses showed up to do a procedure they told me pretty much nothing about. They spoke to one another from both sides of my bed as if I wasn't there, I told them to leave.

Anthony Fleming

Best medical facility in the midwest. Arguably in the whole country.

Rose Maus

Doctor kept our daughter off food and water [for a pre-scheduled test under anesthesia] for over twenty four hours while requiring for her to be admitted overnight, then did not conduct the test. Our daughter is suffering severe headaches with intermittent head swelling and additional symptoms, she has chronic health condition and a disability. Doctor went on to state that she was to be scheduled for the following day and will not be allowed food and drink for another twelve hours but that he could not guarantee that the test would be done the following day either. He proceeded to explain that she could remain admitted for days before receiving the testing because "Northwestern Memorial is a company" while his assistant resident doctor assured us that they could "come up with many reasons to justify insurance payment with her condition". Our daughter was being ordered to have the IV needle in her arm with no need for an IV (other than to administer anesthesia) and no medications needed through an IV which was to remain in her arm for an undetermined period of time until they would conduct the testing that she requires. There was no regard that she was trying to remove the IV needle which could lead to injury or infection, no regard that we had to be awake and monitoring her for all hours until the test was performed, no regard for absence from school and our jobs for their indefinite period of time for a test that should have been written and ordered as outpatient; the test is being conducted as outpatient at this time. We waited several months for our daughter to be seen by neurology at Northwestern and will have to wait many more months for her to have an available appointment with a new neurologist. The collaborating Northwestern doctors could not locate orders, notes, and documents on their own My Chart system and nurse Regine yelled and screamed on the phone that we, as her parents, were not advocating enough with the Northwestern Memorial neurology and nephrology departments. The first neurologist, Tavee, referred to a different neurologist within the hospital and wrote an order for MRI with the language "sedation" which could not be used by any facility that conducts out patient MRIs under anesthesia. She explained to both of us that general anesthesia would be needed for the MRI imaging, which our daughter has required in previous years, and for which her order restricted only to serve to restrict out daughter's ability to receive the necessary testing unless admitted for an undetermined amount of days with food and water withheld for twelve hours intervals. We have many more details documented about or daughter's Northwestern Memorial experience including an ER visit without a diagnosis and refusal of the ordered MRI. There were several patients we observed who were registering complaints at payment relations who were very upset about mistreatment they received at the hospital upon our leaving. Some of the distraught patients were being ridiculed and spoken to very disrespectfully by the patient relations staff. Northwestern has refused to address any of our concerns.

Brett Shaia

The place I trust the most out in Chicagoland. I always feel they take their time, listen, and give proper treatment.

Dee Green

I had an unexpected emergency. They took very good care of me!!! Best possible place to be!

Michael Grady

Best Doctors, Best P.A.s, Best R.N.s, LPNs, C.As Staff Techs, Everyone employed there and the Greatest Volunteers. They are # 1.

monica vilceanu

No issues with the doctors or the experience while at the hospital. However, their billing department personnel is absolutely incompetent. Not sure if they are required to have any education to be in that department, but they are absolutely clueless (spent 10 h across 5 months asking for claims to be sent to one insurance and they kept sending to the wrong one). And we spoke the same language. So I can only conclude that they are absolutely incompetent at their jobs.

Evelyn Fuentes

They were very great people. I Love.

Brian Guizzotti

I wish I could give it more stars ⭐️ I just can’t believe the level of care and concern for my daughter and her mother plus the food is restaurant level quality ty having a great time here

serenaspeace22

I just had chest and abdomen x-rays taken last week. The admin people were wonderfully helpful. They took my new patient info courteously and professionally. One man escorted me to a second building for the x-rays so I wouldn't get lost. The admin woman in the second building was also professional, nice, and expeditious. My wait was only about 20 minutes. The man who took the x-rays was cordial and efficient. All went well and I was released in short order.

Angelica Molina

It’s really not that great , they are very misleading when you ask questions over the phone and when you arrive for your appointment, they tend to turn it around . I’ve had my second appointment here and when I got to the desk I was told different than what I was already told over the phone. So I decided to cancel my appointment, not to mention still have to pay for parking that I wasn’t even parked for 10 minutes while being there. Therefore , I am now in the process of switching hospitals for my birth . Definitely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND .

Charmane Kielbasa

Sitting in the ER with my 83 year old mother for over 7 hours! Absolutely ridiculous! We were in a room in ER for 5 hours but then moved into the hallway for at least two more hours-maybe longer-I don’t know we are still here in the Hall. They had a room for her. Then they didn’t have a room. Then the room had to be cleaned. Then room cleaning suspended. This is a 3rd World Hospital! People in hall getting IV’s put in them. Doctors and nurses openly asking people about there medical condition. What happened to the Hippa Laws? Does anyone care? What if this was your 83 year old mother? It’s now 8:35 pm finally being pushed up to our room. Got here at 12:30 pm. Took 8 hours! Ridiculous! The nursing staff and doctors were phenomenal. Extremely empathetic. Northwestern really needs to step up their game in their ER!

Lonnie Burke

Spent about 5 days in room 1001 after spinal fusion surgery , every single nurse and doctor treated me with kindness and respect , even after a couple times i acted like a jerk , your staff is outstanding and I would not hesitate a second to reccomend your hospital ! From my heart I thank you all for getting me thru my ordeal , YOU ALL ARE AWESOME !!!!!

Oliver Antonio c

At this hospital both of my daughters were born here and we got excellent service and the people were very very nice

John Barich

I have been a cancer patient at Northwestern since late 2018 and have received care far beyond my expectations. The doctors, surgeons, radiologists, nurses, office employees, etc. are all the best I have had contact with in any hospital. I personally would choose no other place to receive treatment.

Alejandro H.R

If you want to spend 10 hours waiting at the emergency room. Welcome to do so at this hospital. Supposedly is one of the greatest in Chicago, yet no follow up. Also took blood pressure twice just because new nurses started a new shift. Feel free to bring a pillow and blanket to spend the day there. Only would be attended if you are almost dying.

Rose M. gonzales

Received terrible service from both pulmonologist and neurologist. Despite my husband being in the hospital over a month and a half. No recommended procedure made any improvements whatsoever. His Doctors made no attempt to attend to him in the emergency room at anytime before he died. Nurses were very attentive in ICU. Unable to complete Survey only by patient who is deceased even if with him day and night.at hospital

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a great hospital that I've been coming to for the past 22years. They have great customer service & I love the services overall.

Todd Graff

I work there and have been a patient also. The care and people are great.

Alexandra Paul

Very good doctors on clear point about providing physical therapy along with proper care for patients lives. Does not do anything illegal. Saw two good male doctors that knew what they were diagnosing and knew how to help me and treat me properly. They ran proper diagnosis test and played with skeletons and joints and were very clear about what is wrong and what is not healthy. I trust these doctors with their diagnosis and their treatment and I really feel as though these orthopedic doctors at Northwestern when it comes to shoulders are very pure and clear at their diagnosis and what to do about the medical issues or problems at hand. These doctors don't want to murder their patients lives they want to see their patients healthy and able to live without pain and live without struggles. These men were not foreigner Muslim men. They were Caucasian male doctors in mid 40s. In an Evanston clinic and a chicago office.

Claudia Rinn

I came into the ER with some significant concerns and was taken in immediately where a whole crew came in to ensure as quickly as possible that whatever was going on was not life threatening. The doctors took the time to explain things before, during, and after while the ER nurses went above and beyond. Let's not talk about how amazing the nurses and techs on the floor were later that night (1 am discussion on HGTV reno shows!!!) and the next day. The doctors were great and again took the time to explain things which, let's be honest, is beyond unique and it was by far my best hospital visit ever. 10/5 stars if it were possible!!! Update: NO words for how awesome the team is here. Everyone from schedulers to techs to Dr.'s to nurses. I will forever be grateful to the amazing team here. not to mention how hard they work to help me quickly and in such a way that not only meets the need but actually helps me emotionally.

SandyScheeringa Scheeringa

Northwestern staff has been amazing treating my daughter AmberLyn in the ICU. RN Karly and RN Elizabeth were her main nurses. They were compassionate, caring and most of all so knowledgeable about caring for my daughter. I cannot express enough the level of peace I had just knowing they were there. Thank you Karly and Elizabeth for making a horrible situation as bearable as it possibly could be. You were my son in laws and my “angels” Sandy Scheeringa

Linda Esposito

The whole team is competent, professional and friendly. They did a lot to decrease my apprehension and make me relax.

Mazin Aj

Awesome staff from doctors to nurses to all workers. I went to the ER for minor case. I didn't have to wait for one minute.

Jacqueline Ascencio

Been in the ER hospital since 4 pm, after some test were run they said they were gonna admit my mom for the night. this was at 830pm and to our surprise they told us they didn't have any rooms available. So still here 7 hrs later in the ER waiting for a room to open up.

Sheila Vinson

I was in the ER with my adult son on Sunday evening, July 29, 2018. His nurses, Danielle and Ron were ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. His treating doctor was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING and ALL of them exceeded our expectations. The doctor would make himself available and any question I had. The level of PROFESSIONALISM they exhibited is to be APPLAUDED. Thank YOU ALL VERY, VERY MUCH ~

Richard Ishmael

I love this hospital it’s by far the best hospital in IL. The nurses and the doctors are all wonderful. You can’t get better treatment then here.

li kwon kim

One of my close friends was admitted at this hospital. I tried to locate my friend by calling the E. R. and the hospital operator to see where my friend might be at for she was admitted 3 days ago. E.R. person and the operator said no such person was admitted to this hospital and gave me a contact phone number at the Lake Forest Location. E.R. nurse at Lake Forest had told me that person was admitted at the Chicago Location and was discharged already. Called again the downtown location and the operator gave an attitude that the person I was looking for was not on their list. The fifth person at E.R. finally told me she was admitted but discharged yesterday even though my friend was still at the hospital. WT?

Jessica Hyland

I received excellent care from all my doctors Dr. Alam and Dr. Sidle and their team of PAs and nurses including Dr. Alams PA Tyler Johnson and Dr. Sidles PA Erin Hoke. Thank you so much for all of your help!

London Skyy

After a few visits I’ve noticed a different care of service. it has to do with a white dr versus a black dr. The white dr comes in my room and tell me that all of my symptoms probably mean nothing. He was so nonchalant about it but why we he genuinely care about my health and getting better me being a black woman ? On a previous visit my dr was black he was very knowledgeable and efficient. He was happy to get me back to feeling better and that was great. I’m not saying all the non color drs that are there are like this but I know when person wants to help you and when they don’t . It’s sad

Aqilah Al-Mubarak

I went to the ER yesterday, except for the long waiting hours, everything else was perfect. The triage nurse addressed my main compliant immediately which made me feel better while waiting to see the doctors. Once I was in, everyone was very nice and they took good care of me. They did not discharge me until I was very well. Overall, great hospital and great staff.

April Warner

I was referred to see a physician at Lavin Pavilion from a former professor at NW. I was very disappointed in getting help from the Patient Information Center. There was no place to park in the assigned building, C, nor D or B. We had to park down the road at Axis. We were not entitled to the discount at this location. Where are you suppose to park in downtown Chicago? Not did the representatives try to help us nor did they know their directions? It was a nightmare, not needing to happen. I called back 3 times trying to find someone to direct us on where else to park nor did I get my ticket validated since ALL the garages were full. This is very disappointing to me if I ever have to come back again....

Jack Stonebraker

The Doctors, Nurses and ER Staff were/are incredible...... really tough to actually leave less than a 5 star review since this group saved my life and supported me and my family through my medical experience. What sucks is the medical transport and coordination of services and movement between labs, etc. Friday, Saturday and Monday experiences were terrible and just when I didn’t think it could get worse...... today the nurse actually came in an said, “wow, xRay called and are on their way way up” (at 5:00AM) it’s now been 3 hrs, food is being delivered that I am not supposed to eat until after the xRay and have still seen no one. I hate that I took it out on the food services guy, they have been great too...... Dear “owner” instead of posting a number for me to call and discuss, you can call or see me in Feinburg East, 1512.

Review Time

As a patient you will receive great care. As a coworker you will be grossly disappointed because the work culture is comparable to a sorority house: specifically with the Social Workers and Nurses. Those gals are real...vanilla. I'm Caucasian so I can say that, right?

Gernina Sutton

It's a great place to visit to get well..

Amanda Shakeapeare

Best hospital I deliver my son there.

Tania Chizzo

Dr Cuttica is the best !! He is patient and takes all the time you need to explain anything you need medically. He makes you feel that he is truly focused on you.,

Tasneema Ghazi

great service, very smart physicians in every department and beautiful physical facilities. full of admiration. Thanks

Ceocyl Jones

Amazing customer service. We were there to surprise my mother. Wow the customer service staff was so helpful. The staff is the bomb!

Blue Serenity

Had brain tumor surgery in 2015. The surgery was a success and the care I received while at NWestern was excellent. The problems began upon my release. My surgeon Assured I would be up and about in a “few weeks”, which was not true. Upon my release I was told to go to Rehab without explanation of What I should expect with recovery and how rehab was to help me. Since I was extremely tired I decided to put rehabilitation to on hold until I felt stronger. my surgeon prescribed an antisizure drug and a few weeks in I had a terrible reaction to. When calling his office to lower the dose or change the medication I could only consult with his nurse-practitioner who was not helpful and knowledgeable about pharmacology. After talking to my internist she attempted to contact the surgeon to discuss my drug reactions,he never responded even though they both are on Northwestern’s staff. These unattended issues lead to two more hospitalizations. I feel that Northwestern has relied on its past excellent reputation and no longer offersquality comprehensive Health care, I will never go to Northwestern again.

Vadim Basin

Epitome of incompetence. Waited in ER for 6 hours for a simple procedure, was placed in the wrong room, so they "couldn't do the procedure". I ended up resolving this with a personal doctor the next day. They billed me $900 for hospital charges. Don't go there unless you're dying, even then they will probably put you in the wrong room, let you die and bill you family for hospital charges. Pure scum.

anonymous mcgee

All hospitals should aspire to be as great as Northwestern Memorial. Everyone from the doctors to housekeeping put 101% into their work.

Essra Almarzouqi

Hello where is my package ???? and I'm living at doha ????????

Vanessa Breese

My husband as been admitted again. Always fast, very friendly excellent service.

John Giannini Jr

Communication with the patient and family is excellent. I'm an RN myself so my expectations were high.

Cal Montgomery

They definitely have some incredible staff. Others are incompetent. I have begun reporting it if the same person makes the same medication error twice. This is considered unacceptably picky. I have just been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and separate deep vein thrombosis I acquired on the ER waiting room. I have been discharged w/o understanding what changes I need to make. My followup is in 6 weeks. EDIT: Below I was encouraged to call patients relations. It should be noted that I did that 5 times this visit because there was a glitch in the system that led to me repeatedly being administered meds the doctor thought he had discontinued. I had assumed they would want to know about a problem that could kill patients so they could fix it. 4 times they said they would talk to me and never showed; the 5th time they retaliated against me.

anil david

Excellent Teaching Hospital in downtown Chicago with state of the art facilities and a world class support system.some of the finest doctors in the world practice at this facility.

lilia L

I give them a 00. If you are Latino stay away from this hospital. My father had a heart condition he was given 6 months to live and this hospital played with my father's health for 4 months they canceled his surgery 3 times the last time they canceled 9 hours prior to surgery. untill we took him to Loyola where he was well taken care of. We felt we didn't get the same treatment other people get, we felt discriminated. Latinos go somewhere else where you are appreciated.

Lisa Montgomery

I have Medicare I was able to go to any private doctor are hospital in Florida and Louisiana Move to Chicago and because I don't have a dependent I was stuck in the County Care in Chicago Provident hospital is not fit for animal. I cry when I have to see only a NP and they don't care There's no mental care for poor folks with the County Care Certain medicine tyou can't get at the County The restrooms is disgusting And the staff don't care

Sal Luki

Great specialist doctors saving lives here. Their brain tumor institute saved the life of a dear friend of mine, their doctors saw something that doctors elsewhere missed. And they were able to schedule an emergency surgery for her. It was not trauma informed, but I do understand that is a lot to expect when the doctors are working on immediate issues. So thankful for this place.

I have been using Northwestern Hospital for several years . I'd consider using a different hospital except my doctor is on staff there. Rooms are shoddy and need refurbishing. MRIs are narrow and claustrophobic. Food is substandard and arrives cold. Staff is rude. I owed them $22.95 that they turned over to a collection agency. I asked why when they used to write off small amounts and was told that was in the past. I'll pay them the $22.95 but they lost my good will and a patient when my doctor retires.

So here I was trying to soothe my 1.5 yr old at 1am in the night, he was suffering from high fever and stuffy nose and was finding it difficult to breathe. I thought of getting an appointment set up with the pediatrics outpatient department for the next day, just in case since it had been couple of days my kid was sick. Mychart application will not let me pick date before 5th May, which was a week away. Mychart never fails to disappoint me. I would have been ok, of the doctors weren't available, but my problem was the algorithm of the stupid my chart which would say a date before than a week from now, was invalid. Ridiculous!!

I work here in Ophthalmology & have been working here for almost 21 years. Very excellent hospital. I have learned a lot.

It is clear it is a top quality of medical care emergency. The waiting time is very long more than 7 hours for my case ( I may got COVID-19 and cannot bear with the very cold waiting room). Besides for someone who has problems hearing the call I would appreciate if the nurse traverses all the huge waiting room to call. Or much better one has to se a screen to display the names to call. I am still waiting because I believe there are good doctors here.

ER is best I've ever used. I fell in middle of night. Staff were caring and upbeat.

We are from out of state my wife unfortunately fell and broke her arm and resulted in surgery I can not speak enough for the staff they are all so wonderful and the surgery team went through the whole process. I'm not used to good treatment back home. This is a very nice experience thank you all for all you have done

I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital 251 E. Huron St. Chicago, IL the emergency room staff and the critical care doctors and nurses who gave such amazing care to me. I just wanted to express my thanks and appreciation for the wonderful treatment and care you all showed to me. Before I came into the hospital, I was very nervous and daunted by the fear of the unknown but you were all so kind and reassuring when I arrived which took away a lot of my apprehension. You demonstrated your total commitment into caring for me when I was helpless and also gave me the support and encouragement I needed to take my first steps on the road to my rehabilitation which meant so much to me. Words can never describe how I feel about your family of doctors. Dr.Gaurang Garg ,Nabil Issa , Marion V Stanley, Marianne Tschoe .I’d like to particularly thank who provided me with round the clock nursing care Shelby Turner . These were members of the team whom I saw on a daily basis and whom I became particularly close to during my stay in the hospital. However, I’d also like to thank all the other people, too numerous to mention, who all played such an important part in my treatment and recovery. Thanks to you all, I’m now able to look forward to a long-held dream to able to visit my daughters family in the USA. Without your help, this would not have been possible so you can imagine how grateful I am. Thank you all once again for all your care and support. Best regards,Vira Sushytska from Ukraine

We were on 9 neuro ICU The end of August. All the nurses doctors and staff were exceptional. We are from Michigan and it was difficult being so far from home for 11 days. Our son who is in the hospital was extremely taken care of as well as our whole family. Thank you to all of you. Our son passed away on August 29 and the compassion and love shown us was remarkable.

Dr. Su is by far the worst doctor I've ever been too. He had a student "examine" me while he wasn't even in the room. The student didn't even examine the area that I was referred to them for and decided that my back and hip pain must be due to my ankle even though an MRI found a cyst on my back. Dr. Su made it clear once he walked into the room that he felt there was nothing wrong with me and didn't even bother to examine me. The lack of professionalism and care for patients surprised me since Northwestern claims to be one of the best hospitals in the country. I think I'll stick with my regular old doctor who actually cares about the welfare of his patients instead of doctor who only seems to care about his next pay check and seems to be training his students to be the same way

My husband is on emergency room since 11am today and is almost 2 pm and he still waiting to call him and the nurses get mad when someone ask how long it take to call. It is ridiculous we have to wait more than 2 hours to be attended. My husband has stroke history and today he has a lot of pain of his right eye and we scare and bring him to ER , but i think was not a good idea. They either call no one, what the nurses are doing inside? Eating? Playing, talking and outside sick people waiting... I can't believe this kind of hospital will be like that

I went to the ER and am still shocked from my experience. I came in on the brink of passing out with a cloudy brain, lots of nausea and pain, and alarming symptoms. When trying to explain my complicated medical history, the nurse and medical assistant would rudely interrupt me. After feeling a little better, I received no answers for what happened or no direction on how to move forward, they were just focused on me leaving as soon as possible. I was given a prescription for medicine that cures acid reflux (which wasn't why I was there and made no sense). I was so frustrated to the point where I broke down and cried because of how severe my symptoms were and how I wasn't being taken seriously. The nurse continued to talk over me rudely and even accused me of just trying to stay overnight. I don't know if it was because of the fact that I'm a black woman, or that I'm young and I had to check myself in, but neither the doctor, the nurse, nor the medical assistant took my pain seriously. I did not feel welcomed, tolerated, or listened to. They're biggest concern was me leaving. If I come to have a serious medical issue, I will have them know that they failed me.

Lex Dunbar

Just overall unprofessional, I was told they don't give out medication for the flu. They can't provide any documentation that I have the flu only the lab results. Please do not get the location of this hospital confused with the service provided. Unpleasant experience, I will never come back!

Mr. Leprechaun

Was a patient and unexpectedly had to spend the night. My wife was forced out at 9 pm into the parking garage after many excuses and untruths from the head nurse.. Compassion was lacking from administration and nurses. After finding out she was in garage, they threatened to send police after her. They finally offered to help find hotel but should of offered security to help her get there. We did talk to a manager and they are trying to sort it out for the next patient who has this issue. The Doctors are rock stars and save life's daily. Just need some structure in the nursing !It's about rules and numbers not helping people! I didn't feel safe or comfortable staying there!

My Mom was treated poorly at one hospital and we then came to Northwestern. Wow, what a difference. They took immediate action and did more for my mom in 6 hours than the other hospital did in two weeks. Almost all the staff were incredible and easy to work with. They took all of my mom's conditions very serious, unlike her doctor who told her she had headaches because she was fat. She had a brain tumor, duh. Excellent hospital.

My father was in intensive care in early November 2020. The care was good. When it became clear that he was dying, they recommended moving him to palliative care, which we did. Very disappointing -- NOT a good environment for a dying patient. After one day we transferred him to hospice at a different facility. We feel that the team at Northwestern misled us into thinking that the palliative care unit would be like hospice -- it was not. They never mentioned the idea of hospice, presumably because it doesn't exist at Northwestern. We figured out ourselves that he needed hospice, we located a proper facility, and we had him moved there.

Angela

At Northwestern Hospital the staff make you feel like your top priority. I never been to a hospital like this before the doctors and nurses were very concern about my health.

shada alkhathran

Worst ER that I have been in my life. Nurse is so rude. Insurance registeration office took long time to verfy my insurance. Make me do a CT test with no reason. I highly do not recommend them. Very bad service. They make me more sick.

Gina Zunke

Drs great and most knowledgeable about each of their fields. Excellent specialists and also a wonderful teaching hospital as well

Laura Yerk

I had open heart surgery on September 27th. Was at another facility while they were figuring out exactly what the plan would be for me and then was transferred to Northwestern for a second opinion which resulted in my surgery. From the moment I arrived, I was so impressed by everyone I came into contact with . Everyone I saw was so professional and encouraging and I was there for over a week. This hospital is #1 in Illinois for a reason.

John Derderian

Had a stem cell transplant and everything went great. From the nurses to the doctors. I was in for six weeks twice. They saved my life. I had MDS + bone marrow disease

Olivergavin Gavin

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is the best hospital in the City of Chicago there #1 on the list they treat you with respect and courtesy they provided me with the best medical service I ever had in my life. I was suffering chest pain I came through the emergency room and was seen right away no long wait or stay at this hospital. They have state of the art equipment and very clean linen on bed.I highly recommend this place to Families and Friends. This is the reason why I gave Northwestern Memorial Hospital 5 - stars rating.

fabian espinoza garcia

Definitely not a secure hospital. Got patient info by phone to be fair my wife got in to ER at noon was not seen by a physician till 8pm. Glad she wasnt dying that day.

Nelma Sales

If I could I'll give zero! Terrible customer service, overcharge patients 3x the most of the good hospitals! I went to do a nasal-endoscopy and i was charged for a surgery, they didn't want to change the code and I ended up with a bill of 10 payments of $50. When I already did the same exam and many good hospital and I just paid $25 copay. DO NEVER GO IN THIS PLACE !!! YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGE AND TREAT LIKE NOTHING! THE WORST HOSPITAL IN CHICAGO!!!

Loren Schauers

They do not get anything underway quickly I spent over a week here trying to get home but the doctors would not get anything done. They made me starve from midnight to 5 p m for days because I needed surgery done but they would not get the surgery done in a timely fashion. I will never ever ever come to this hospital again even if my life depended on it

Kathryn Gomoluch

I spent a month and a half at this hospital. I had my 28th surgery and I was scared. Everyone from my surgeon Dr. Anthony Yang to the nurses and their assistants I couldn't have asked for better care. Housekeeping and transport helped more than they'll ever know. These people and I mean ALL of them held my hand when I cried in pain and I never felt like I was being a pain to them. When I went for procedures and tests all were so kind. The recovery room nurses rocked. The nurses and staff on 12 east were my saviors I never felt alone. All the interns on Dr. Yangs service were understanding and kind. I thank you all for your kindness and support. And to Athena from housekeeping who stopped what she was doing, sat next to me and held my hand while I cried and got sick. You are truly an angel.

Nikki P.

I'm a little torn on this hospital. I heard they were one of the best and when I went in for an MRI the staff was kind, informative, and patient. However, I feel only go here if you are in need of something seriously done and already have the diagnosis. - It's been almost 2 months from when my doctor initially sent the order for the MRI scan. It took over a month to even make the appointment. Northwestern just kept saying to check back later. Only one staff member was willing to really help. I'm now waiting for them to send the results to my doctor, but when I called them they said my doctor needs to contact them and request the results for the order. Wouldn't the order for the scan be the request? I've never had to have my doctor call a hospital to request the results for an order they sent. It seems redundant. - I get that there are people with more serious conditions there needing treatment and their resources are limited, but maybe just say that upfront. - Again, I would recommend only going here for something serious. Doing things like tests, scans, etc. would be best to do elsewhere due to the administrative overload.

This Hospital and it's Hospitality save my life more than once

Daisy Olvera

BEST HOSPITAL!! Doctors and nurses are very kind and respectful. And fast acting.

Jennifer Flaxman

My sister was told she had unresectable bile duct cancer. Was told there was nothing they could do. Told her she would go on chemo and that would extend her life. Never did they mention Mayo Clinic and their specialization in this kind of cancer. I recently donated part of my liver to my sister and now she is cancer free. Why would they not tell her about Mayo?!? It's a pretty well known (among doctors) that they specialize in this type of cancer. If we didn't know someone who knew about the program, this may have been our last holiday with our sister. Seems unethical to me.

Josephine Szarowicz

Nicely remodeled, very clean and spacious. Nice doctors work here, too.

Su Rui

Worst service ever. I got a fever with 102F and I can't bear it anymore. So I went to the emergency of this hospital. They put me on the IV and have me wait in the waiting area without assign me the bed. I was feeling so bad with all the headache and aches and I felt extremely cold while I get this IV treatment. It was a torch for me and honestly I come to the hospital for treatment and definitely not for the torch. I rather to stay at home if I know they are running full of the bed. I talked to the staffs and totally unhelpful they just simply told me I'm sorry we are out of the bed. And give me some blanket to keep myself warm is all they can do. I strongly advice everyone do not come here for the emergency treatment. You deserve somewhere better than this place.

Liz Cherone

Stayed here a couple times

Christopher James

I really thought highly of this hospital for past 3 years. Until I signed a legal agreement stating I wanted to keep my hardware when removed from me in surgery. Then they come back and tell me it was thrown away. Then has the nerve to send me to patient relations and claims and they tell me yeah stuff like this happens all the time and wouldn't compensate me for my loss. On something I LEGALLY SIGNED FOR.. very unprofessional and deceptive. No accountability. I lost respect for this hospital and any chance I get, spread news to ppl about how they are.. that was wrong

Barb M

Been coming here 4 years. The Drs. N staff are excellent. I highly recommend them!

Gabrielle Henning

For being an emergency patient it takes way too long to see a doctor. They want to keep taking vitals and the same tests that you already took just to run up insurance.

My husband & I have had nearly all of our medical needs tended to (since our shortly before our marriage in 1986) by NMFF (&/or NM Physicians Group), and that has served us both very well over those 3+ decades. I even have a rare Rheumatologic diagnosis in-hand since 1994, and my former Internist (Daniel F. Andrew's, MD) is actually the MD who correctly diagnosed me at emergent onset of same ~ and NOT an actual board-certified RheumyMD at that !
