Called to see the wait time for the ER and the lady didn’t check and then said she had to go.

I've unfortunately been here many times. I have a complex medical history that requires a bit more than the average patient. Most of the nurses and staff are very kind and patient with me (some days my Neuro problems show up and take a while to calm, other times I'm lucky and they quell quicker than an hour) When I have medical episodes that arrise, usually due to dysautonomia from nerve damage caused by tick infections, or flare ups of tick infection symptoms, I come to this ER as it's closest and I have a recorded history there. I would say this hospital has a long ways to go in terms of education about these diseases and the long term affects that stick with patients. In the meantime I've struggled with skepticism and scorn from some of the staff, which adds to the stress of already dealing with a difficult condition that constantly interrupts my daily life in cycles. It's also a bit terrifying to have to spell your diseases for your attending ER physician, much less explain HOW it affects you all the while dealing with out of control symptoms. I don't come there looking for cures, I come there for help during evening times and weekends when my otherwise very attentive MDs are available/open. I think also, more education on genetic mutations and how they effect the human body should happen too. I don't want to be shrugged at by a physician when I'm tremoring/spasming, or chastised for coming too often. There aren't special clinics in Vermont to handle the effects of Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, or Rocky Mountain Spotted fever. I haven't heard of specialty 24/7 clinics for dysautonomic complications. The ER is my lifeline when I'm in trouble on off hours, I wish that was better understood and better recieved.

I loved Northwest Hospital until I had Dr Landfish for a broken wrist.I complained they took action. Liked them again. I have had 2 neck surgeries by Dr.Barnum. I told him repeatedly something wasn't right ..He kept saying ..everything is fine ...WELL ITS NOT ! BEEN TO ANOTHER DR.

I’ve been to this ER multiple times throughout my life. A majority of the staff are judgmental and super dismissive of any problem or pain you are having. I struggle to think of one total good experience I’ve had there. To sum it up - I hate this place and it’s always the last place I want to be when I’m having a medical episode. Too bad UVM isn’t closer.

Provider Marc Kutier has a terrible bedside manner... And that's me being nice, cause he's actually a douche bag with a doctorate. I come to ER, you have tests done on me. You dont "talk" to me, you dont examine me yourself, you just ask me the same questions as everyone else "how are you feeling" ... You leave me in my room, stop by a couple times to repeat those questions "How are you feeling?"Only to show up 4 hours later with, "We're gonna let you go".. You totally missed that whole step where you're supposed to tell me what you found in the tests... As it is, I still don't know what happened to me.. All you could do is tell me I wasn't having a heart attack.. Well that's just great... I could of stayed home and figured that out for myself! Your condescending, smug attitude and lack of interest in your job is very telling. Its no wonder America has such an issue with its medical establishment. I think I could have gotten better care from a snake oil selling Gypsy. But the nurse was great, Matt, I think his name was. And the EMT crew as well, I know they don't work for NW, but they were great. Very professional and attentive. One things for sure, next time I need medical attention, I'll be going to Butcher Allen: Health Don't Care.

Have had a family member with severe infection there twice in the last month. There is a lack of continuity of care by the doctors as they rotate out and we were constantly wondering why the new doctor on didn't follow the plan already set out by previous doctor. On this last visit this past week, housekeeping never came in from Thursday to Sunday. There were caps of medical supplies scattered on the floor which were a tripping hazard for the patient as well as visitors. The bathroom and shower were not cleaned until Sunday and only after we complained several times. We requested transfer to Burlington and were stonewalled by Northwestern. After several snafus by medical staff, we removed our family member to bring him to Burlington ourselves. Enough is enough.

Overall a good place to go for care. Most docs there know their stuff and will pass you on to UVM if it's something they can't do. For the size of the community, they are quite exceptional.

Why am I hearing that every time my friend goes to this place they send him home he can't breathe he needs help why are you people at this place not helping him I don't live up there but if I did he WOULD be getting the help he is needed. this place is filled with lazy incompetent people just read the reviews ???? tells you all you need to know . I'm so disgusted with this place needs serious management. Do your jobs the one your patting yourselves on the back for SMFH....

This is the worse Hospital in the State of Vermont. They are very neglectefull in there professional practicing.they talk about How great they are you busy right! But they do not and I repeat Do Not Practice what they preach. They take you in under there care, then leave you behind like someone who neglected there PET.

My son Raymond Dumont III spent 3 days and nights in and out of the ER. A nurse by the name of Francis pushed for us to get the immediate care and answers we needed. Thank You so much. Your professionalism is very appreciated. Healing from Accute Pancreatitis and a Kidney Stone has been extremely painful, for my son (seeing him suffer was rough). Your help eased us. As a mother I am ever so grateful.

Wendy Morrill

I have always, I repeat, always, gotten excellent service, respectful care, from conscientious staff. Doctors were kind, professional, and knowledgeable. Nurses were helpful, gentle, and also kind.

I've been to this ER a few times over several years and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. My last visit I was so frustrated with them and tired if trying to fight for them to give me better care I just gave up and left in tears. That visit was the first time in my life I felt someone was being sexist toward me. Unfortunately, it's the closest hospital so I'll just have to keep sticking up for myself.

I had a very positive experience at Northwestern Medical Center from making an appointment, to checking in, to meeting with the doctor. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Dr. Diverio was thorough and patient in explaining my MRI results and in answering questions I had about them. After the appointment, there was a question I had that I posted on my portal and the next day Dr. Diverio himself called to respond to my question, which helped ease my worry. I was impressed and appreciative that Dr. Diverio took the time to do this. From my experience with Northwestern Medical Center, I would highly recommend it.
