Five stars go to the clinic services. The staff are very responsive and wait-time is significantly reduced. Sincerely appreciate for your work!

A definite positive experience. This was my first experience at Mackenzie Health and I most definitely give it 5 stars. From the moment I walked in I was welcomed and offered help. The wayfinder app is great, but I was personally directed to patient registration. There I was greeted immediately by the staff and offered assistance with the electronic registration. I encountered a small problem with it, but they helped me resolve it quickly and with pleasure. I am usually pretty nervous in hospitals but their manner helped to put me at ease. My experience with Dr. Vincent Basile was amazing. I could see that it was a super busy day yet I did not feel like I was being rushed. He was very friendly, yet completely professional. I felt extremely comfortable talking to him about my issues and felt he really cared. As I walked through the halls to the various departments for my tests, I was asked on several occasions if I needed help or direction. All the tests were performed quickly, efficiently and very pleasantly. I would not normally say that a hospital is a ‘happy’ place but the staff though very busy, seemed to work so well together and genuinely seemed happy to be there. At the end of my day, I left breathing a sigh of relief. From start to finish I felt very well taken care of in all departments and I will not be so uneasy at follow-up time. Great job Mackenzie Health.

Had an appointment today for an Ultrasound. Service was quick and excellent. Especially if you are on a full bladder you definitely want to go in on time. Was also amazed by the sign up process for registration and particularly for obtaining online the results.

If you care about your mental health, don’t even get close to this place...

Dr. Rob Murray

My son broke his thumb and we went to Mackenzie Health to get him fitted for his new cast. We were extremely impressed with how clean and spacious the hospital felt. We were treated at the Help Desk and given directions. It was easy to find where we had to go. Check-in was easy and we were called in within 2 minutes of sitting down. The Doctor and the OT were both great. All in all, a great, efficient experience compared to some other hospitals in York Region. ????

Thanks to Dr. Christine Keng and her team, I had a successful surgery and an amazing experience. I also appreciate all the help and support from my nurses (Fariba & Hope). Jeep up the great job and thanks to all our first responders. George Bassari

Triage system doesn’t work. People walking in 2 hours later with nothing but b.s. symptoms going through ahead of you. I counted 15 patients go ahead of me and others. Seriously, then I get in and rather then having my blood work done, they send me to line up for xrays for another hour. Last time I come here...they should definitely be investigated!

Young-Shin Lee

Excellent community hospital. Very caring physicians, nurses and staff. Although busy, the hospital's ER is very organized and prompt to assess and provide appropriate intervention. I would highly recommend this hospital.

KP SPRING

Very long wait times in the ER about 7-10 hours from my previous 3 visits . Mental health counsellor, nurse and psychiatrist was nice from the mental health department Came for a MRI , CT scan and Covid assessment , all was good . Quick and professional All departments seem well except the ER which is poorly managed and staffed

I wish I was able to give this place a negative score. This is not a hospital or a care center, it's a profit making, low quality and unprofessional team of providers. Most nurses hold PRN degree instead of RN. A good number or their lead MDs on general floors are community GPs. They are overworked and undervalued as such no good healthcare worker stays with them for long. My 30 years old sister was here for 2 months during which she received the worse treatment possible! She was misdiagnosed, mistreated, neglected and almost died. They just wanted to get rid of her/us. They proposed palliative care, pushing us to discharge her home without treating her. We had to pull so many strings to transfer her to one of the downtown hospital where she was finally received the proper diagnosis and treatment. She would not be with us had we kept her in Mackenzie! And this was not our only experience with this hospital. We complained to patient advocacy, they never email you only phone calls and to no effect. Unfortunately when you live in Richmond Hill, EMS always brings you here. I am in shock how little our healthcare system value our lives by protecting such horrible centers, ignoring their malpractices and patient complains against them! The saddest part is "our tax money founds such awful place to mistreat us and jeopardize our health/lives. ...please avoid this place at all costs! value your life and drive a little farther to a real CARE Centre..

Dr. Khanna is very knowledgeable and helped a lot during treatment. With his expertise he helps patients with serious illnesses. I would like to wish him and his team a very happy New Years and wish him health and happiness.

The doctor in the EEG/EMG department stuck needles in me and when she was done she just said, “we couldn’t find anything wrong”. And LEFT ME BLEEDING from 5 diff places where she jabbed me!!! She LEFT THE ROOM! I had to grab my own tissue to stop it before I left the room. These pics were taken when I was in the CAR.

Horrible hospital. Front line reception in emergency doesn't know anything, and all other staff hide behind their phones. The worse Emerg. By far. These guys don't care about you or your loved ones. Not a single person is able to demonstrate compassion or think beyond what they're told to do.

Hazeem

Terrible experience from everything but the doctors. The security guard was very hostile, the covid check employees were incredibly rude and constantly harassed us and other guest (the Indian and Asian lady for reference). They made an already stressful situation pure hell.

Erica Ivachina

This week I went in to get my toe checked because I had severe pain but couldn't recall exactly how it could have been injured because I've dealt with the pain for a while. Around the time it happened my fiance passed away and I couldn't be bothered to go see anyone. Finally I decide to pick myself back up and finally have this looked at. Doctor didn't even bother to run any tests or put me in for an x-ray. Told me to put some ice on it and go home because he doesn't deal with "minor injuries". I went elsewhere and wouldn't ya know it, I fractured my sesamoid bone. So, thanks a lot for undermining my problem and brushing me off like I was some idiot who stubbed her toe.

the emergency at this hospital is something out of a horror movie.I should add however that only the emergency seems to be this way.. I was hospitalized for about a month and the nurses on the higher floors are absolute angels..The emergency needs to have 99% of the nurses fired. Horrible. *Edit: In response to whoever answered me, I have complained. There was a fight an actual fight between the nurses and a patient and a few of us called in to complain. Its gotten better recently I should add however the really obese woman who does intake with short hair needs to be removed immediately. I have recorded her making fun of patients and just out right disrespecting people who are in pain. People who come there are usually not in the best state of mind because they have some type of an illness/injury. The nurses should be kind, accomidating and understanding. Not rude, aggressive and making fun of you. I will continue to complain so long as this emergency room stays this way trust me.

Alexandra Krasinsky

Very well organized and friendly place. Patients have access to their EMR (electronic medical records).

Concerned Parent

Had to take my young child there because of a suspected fracture. I had no idea what to expect as we'd never been there before, but the entire process flowed so smoothly and quickly. All of our nurses/attendants were incredibly patient with my child, who was understandably very nervous and upset. We never had to wait more than a few minutes between being seen. I cannot stress how incredibly accommodating and kind everyone was with us. There was only one doctor (who appeared to be in charge of reading the x-rays and diagnosing the damage) who was a bit cold and abrupt, but he just seemed very busy and focused. He didn't mince words and told us immediately what needed to be done. In particular, the attendant who was tasked with casting my child's leg was amazing. Wish I remembered his name so I could give him a shout-out! He was everything I'd hoped we'd have in a nurse -- kind, understanding, with a sense of humour. He was mindful of and responsive to my child's anxiety, and never forced him to do anything he wasn't comfortable with. I wish we'd gotten more instruction on how to care for the leg after leaving, as I was left a little in the dark and had to google a few things to figure out. Otherwise, it was probably the best experience I could have asked for. So grateful for the speed and the kindness we were shown in what could have been a very messy and traumatic experience.

Vero Simone

Just had the best hospital experience I’ve ever had. Was in-and-out in less than an hour with an torn MCL diagnosis and a specialist appointment referral set up. Dr. Clarridge and his team were kind and clear. They made me feel safe and taken care of for the entire process. Thank you so much!!

My dad was admitted to ICU for heart and Covid related lung issues. He has received exceptional care at Mackenzie Health from the doctors, nurses, pharmacist and social worker. I cannot speak highly enough about the cardiologist Dr Chong and lung specialist/respiratologist Dr. Chan, who treated him. Both were extremely competent, professional and caring. They went way beyond what was required in finding treatments to help my dad and communicated with me with compassion on an ongoing basis. Thank you to all the staff there!

DO NOT GO HERE FOR AN EMERGENCY OR SOMETHING SERIOUS. If you value your life and health and having a fully functional body, DO NOT GO HERE. If you love your children, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. For your own sake, PLEASE drive a bit farther and go somewhere else. I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say that coming here for a serious issue can result in the loss of your life, or you being left severely disabled or ill. PLEASE don't come here.

Alex Pomeransky

It's a fine hospital. Not the best, not the worst.

Reading through the ratings, MH receives a lot of undue, unfair criticism. I think there are hundreds of people who flow through MH regularly and receive meticulous care, but I guess only the miffed leave ratings. People coming into the Emerg need to remember that demand exceeds supply and the staff are stretched thin, yet keep it all moving seamlessly. And the Emerg triage did exactly what it was supposed to for me. I ended up in surgery the following morning and felt I was in exceptional hands, right from helpful nurses, Dr. P, diagnostics, the surgeon Dr. F, prep, post-op and all the selfless, incredible and highly competent nurses. A huge thank you them all for their dedication - all the more praiseworthy with the added constraints of covid.

Shannon Keeping

Called the hospital to find out information on my father after being notified by the hospital - was transferred to the wrong department after speaking to the "operator" - when whoever I was speaking to realized I was transferred to the wrong department I was rudely told "you're wasting my time, you called the wrong department" then hung up on me! Regardless if I was transferred to the wrong department - they have no excuse talking to me SO disrespectful! Clearly you don't know my father or what hes being treated for, have COMPASSION!

Right now I am here, doing tests. It is clean , comfortable, bright and helpful. My tests require me stay a few days. It's amazing, the staff from cleaners to doctors and all in between put their own lives on the line to come to work every day and give it their all. The nurses especially work hard, during this pandemic. They work double shifts and always ready to help. But, citizens, what is happening? You must listen to instructions from our leader, scientists and doctors. SURE we live in a free and free speech country. Personally I would like to continue. Our current Prime Minister 's father in the late 60's invoked martial law, during the FLQ crisis. It's not fun having to pass military check points. Wear your masks when out and don't leave your bubbles. MacKenzie Health is at capacity, as is every hospital in Canada. Get your vaccine ASAP , here they can't stress it enough. Then very soon we will beat this Covid and it's variables. Everyone who works here could use a break. Then once Canada beats this, these workers are ready to go to much less fortunate countries and help the world become healthy. The dedication I see here is unbelievable. I was sceptical too about the vaccine, not anymore. As soon as I can I will get it. So if you don't want military in the streets. Do what you need to do. Then Canada will be first. This hospital is proof as are all our hospitals. Don't think about your little discomforts now, think about our future generations children. Be careful and stay safe.

Someone explain to me how my husband brought in my daughter to have her forehead stitched up and these "doctor's" couldn't do the basic job of stitching her up. Within 12 hours all three stitches have fallen out and the cut has re opened. We visited another location once we noticed the stitches missing and they informed us they were never done right to begin with. This place should be shut down and the staff disbarred

Kirsten Kaldus

I can't tell if the staff is incompetent or simply just don't care about their patients. My father had asked for water, when I came back the NEXT day they still hadn't gotten him water! I then went around looking for the fountain and found one which was broken - when asking where there was another the girl at the counter said there isn't. I asked how that can be... What do you do when your patients are thirsty and she just raised her shoulders (indicating nothing/ don't know). I then searched around in another unit and had to find the water myself. This is just a glimpse of what kind of service you receive here. I'm giving 3 stars only because some of the doctors are actually good and there are those "unicorn" nurses (can count on a single hand) which are actually genuinely kind and helpful. All other services are below subpar.

Raihan Amb

Worst medical services even in emergency when faster and sympathize care was needed. I ll prefer to die next time than wait in emergency for whole night for only few procedures

Orion

Hospital is definitely understaffed. The worker to patient ratio is to low to be a efficiently operating hospital. Still, the workers are nice and friendly and they seem to have a passion for their jobs.

Ateeq Ur Rehman

All covid 19 testing staff is so quick. Great Service

Luda Zadorovich

This hospital doesn’t even deserve 1 star! They are disorganized, cold, and offer little to no answers to frantic patients. My mother spent over 24 hours in the e.r waiting area with no answers and no assistance. Near fainting and asking for help and water she was ignored completely. The doctor that finally came to “examine” her couldn’t even examine her because it wasn’t appropriate to do so in the waiting area. Instead of taking her somewhere to do a proper examination he gave no clear answers other than she may or may not have a procedure the following day. No food no water allowed, not allowed to go home and shower or anything. Only after 24 hours she finally got a bed and slept for the night. The next day at NOON she was told she’s not on any list for the procedure and STILL at this point no one has checked her out properly. This hospital is a disgrace and I will never ever go there should the occasion arise. I highly warn people to stay away from this place. We apparently have a very flawed health care system with all the taxes we pay. I can’t express enough how thoughtlessly they treat patients at this place. Something should be done about this.

Worse hospital in the world. Took my 10 month old, who was having a hard time breathing. They are telling us one person rule due to covid 19. Parents are not visitors. The wait is so long when there's barely anyone inside. C'mon there's pathetic and then its Mackenzie health at the top. Doctors here are lazy and spend 5-10 secs with a patient. They don't know anything most of the time everything is normal 99% of the time. Don't donate dont support and don't help this hospital its garbage.

Raphael Cardoso

Totally disrespectful. More than 4 hours waiting and my wife just did a blood work. There wasn’t a doctor for long time. The nurse said that unfortunately it normal... how could be??? Good to know cause I won’t come back never again. I prefer wait on traffic and go to Toronto.

amirah echi

My sister was in labor Saturday 7/28/2018 had baby girl with C-section. The labor department needs to improve and also the staff mostly Sue is one of the staff she’s horrible and very rude to patients! She should not be working with new mothers or new born! Mona and Sarah are really good nurse and very patients with baby’s and mother!

Sharna J

If you go here for their emergency care, chances are it will be at least an 8 hour wait. It's short staffed or there are just too many patients. But it's a good hospital. They take care of you, and the doctors try and be as thorough as possible. The nurses seem overwhelmed, but they are good and they never refuse to answer a question or ignore you. Which is wonderful. There is always a hit 'n miss in these emergency hospital when it come to doctors, but whenever I've gone, although the wait is agonizing especially when you're in intense pain, they've always given me the meds, treatment, and tests I need and I do feel better within days. If you can stand the pain, stay, it's a good place, good nurses and thorough doctors. Just a minimum 8 hour waiting time, usually. There are faster days, but rare.

BCM S

More than a 85 person wait for booking appointment. They don't tell you which department or for what I need to book one for. 85 people... For real??? Your business is booming more than ever with government subsidy and you can't hire operators?

Montgomery Bojangles

It’s a hospital first and foremost. So why should I have to go back 5 times within 2 weeks for my chronic back pain? Well, simply put for some reason there’s an atmosphere counter productive to patient care. They seem to just want to get you out the door. Meanwhile knowing they did nothing to remedy the ailment that brought you in, in the first place. Staff is friendly Doctors pretend to care You will have to go back for the same problem if it’s a chronic ongoing issue. I’ve become sick and tired of going back because the doctor I saw does nothing for my symptoms and they continue to persist. Literally a 2/10 Edit: I spoke with Mr. James Sweeney, Manager of the patient relations department. I informed him of how within a span of 48 hours Sunnybrook hospital was able to diagnose me with a ruptured L4/L5 disk AND get MRI imaging done PLUS I had an initial consultation with an orthopaedic specialist. James was by far the most helpful employee at MacKenzie that I had the absolute pleasure of dealing with. Mr. Sweeney is literally the only good thing about my experience at this hospital. My review of the hospital remains as it originally was however James deserves a big raise, he did a 10/10 job.

Our second son was born at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital in October and it was a great experience, similar to the birth of our first son three years ago. The entire team - including clinicians and support staff - was very professional and gave my wife and I confidence that we are being properly cared for. The nurses and doctors in Labour & Delivery and in the post-partum units were really nice and kept a close eye on mom and baby to ensure all goes well, and and thoroughly checked-in on them during the 24 hours post-delivery. A special shout out to Dr. Stacey Grossman, who followed my wife’s pregnancy and, coincidentally, was on shift the night she went into labour, so also delivered the baby. Thank you all for everything!

Diana Dwerryhouse

I was on my way to Ottawa but had a medical emergency and Mackenzie Richmond Hill was the closest hospital. Once I arrived, it only took half an hour for me to be seen by the triage nurse, get registered and into a room. I was promptly put on IV and the nurses checked in on me frequently. All members of the medical team I encountered were friendly, efficient and competent. I noticed a great camaraderie among the staff. The hospital is very efficiently run. I am fortunate to have received such great care at this wonderful hospital.

Ateet and Anjana Patel

Keeping in mind the ED is a highly intense, stressful environment, I have to say this place has improved since I became a citizen of Vaughan 25 years ago. However, the Dr we saw tonight didn't identify himself, interrupted the nurse, who didn't finish her tasks, and was hardly someone to trust my child's wellbeing with; he made no eye contact for the hour or so he's been walking past us in the open hall. There is garbage on the counters with a vial of unmarked blood in front of coffee and box of food. A child is placed on a gurney in front of a room with a man swearing and shaking his bed rails. Let's say MH is no where near the facility it desires to be. I feel sorry for the staff that work so hard there.

useful_jer

I want to apologize to one of the staff there that helped me to schedule a COVID test for accidentally ending our call. Really sorry for wasting your time.

Alex Noudelman

Not the best hospital in the region. I prefer Southlake Hospital. They have a fast track program for minor treatments like broken arms. Be ready to spend 5+ hours in the emergency.

Gilat Khorsandi

We were seen in less than 30 min and in the OR 1.5 hours later. The ER staff was very attentive and we hardly waited. They had warm blankets before surgery and made me as comfortable as I could be. Would recommend to others.

Meggie Levanaj

I went today and was treated as if I was an animal. No one had regards for me, despite fainting and kept me there all day to tell me to go see my family doctor. Majority of staff was very unpolite, barely made eye contact, and disorganized. Your health and time is precious, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

Beverly Morra

I have been a patient at Mackenzie Health on four separate occasions.(2000, 2007,2011.2016). All of my experiences have been very positive. The staff have all been extremely caring and compassionate. My family and I are so thankful and grateful for the exceptional quality patient care available in our community and so close to home. Three of my hospital stays were cancer related and most recently had surgery for a total knee replacement. I am so fortunate to have received such excellent physical and emotional support from doctors and staff that I have agreed to become a volunteer ambassador for the hospital.

Jessica Aggio

Absolutely amazing experience at the fracture clinic. From start to finish (on multiple appointments) the process was quick, organized and the staff were excellent. Thank you!

Melisa Pizzolato

Had a fantastic experience at the Covid assessment centre on Thursday, august 26th in the evening. Such amazing staff working the floor—very friendly!! Thank you for making such an unpleasant experience pleasant!

Pedram E

We’ve had a great experience with Major Mackenzie hospital in the day surgery section today. Super friendly staff, well organized, on time, and great in communications and updates while my dad was in the operation room. Thanks, Dr.Lee for being so informative. Special thanks to nurses in pre-operations and recovery room Behnaz and Maureen for the special care. Thank you, Chris, for the positive energy you are spreading to all staff and patients around you.

Oleg Donner

Dr. Roshan Shafai is that doctor who my wife Tahmineh and me are so thankful for! It was Dr. Shafai who understood that the previous doctor was trying to fight with the wrong-diagnosed non-existent disease. So Roshan Shafai had courage to change the prescription and medication. After that my wife's temperature has dropped to a normal level (after 4 days of constant 39.5-40 degrees). She literally saved Tahmineh's life. On this note, my wife and I express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Shafai and Mackenzie hospital.

Veronica Pagliocca

My dad was in C4 Medicine purple the week of May 18 and was released May 28 and the nurses and PCA's that were attending to him where fantastic. Especially Jessica who was on top of everything! She was great! The treatment he received was better than another York Region hospital he has been in.

Maryam Koochaki

All the staff, nurses and doctors were friendly, knowledgable and professional.

henryy

I loved the Staff and there was one particular nurse I want to talk to again. MRN: 2165843 CSN: AC110921528 My name is Henry Thinh Nguyen and I was admitted on 1/12/2020. I'd be incredibly happy if the hospital knew her. Her name was Christine but I never got her last name. I was in room 4011.

Nastya

If you try to book an covid test by phone it takes you forever. You can spend hours on the phone.

Faranak Hariri

I am actually trapped here, 48 hours of allocating no bed to me, giving me no hygiene products, having no room to clean myself. This is going to be a torture more the disease I am admitted for. There is no specific timing that they give me. My treatment hasn’t been started yet, I didn’t get to see the hematologist I was promised. Although York Region public health contacted me to let me know that my Covid-19 has officially ended and I am longer transmit the disease to others, here they insist that I have COVID so they don’t let my husband come visit me. This doesn’t help neither me nor my worried husband. I had nowhere to let my voice heard so I used this platform.

David West

I recently visited Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill with an ailing older parent. From the moment we arrived at check in, to the time we left, the staff was simply great. Caring, compassionate, and thorough are all words that came to mind. It is never fun to be in the Emergency Department but I appreciate the care and compassion that we received from the staff. Thank you!

Peach L

Went to the ER and had a very good experience. The wait was expected and I didn’t mind. Staff were very professional and conscientious and made me feel very comfortable despite the amount of pain I was having... Thank you for taking such great care of me and I’m grateful for your service.

Anayka Santamaria

terrible hospital that does not care of the wellbeing of their patients. My partner went into the hospital because has been profusely bleeding from his tonsil for almost 6 hours straight, 3 of those hours have been spent at hospital where he's still hasn't been attended I don't even want to talk about my previous experiences here this year staff are rude, they do not care and do not listen to your concerns truly a miracle to find someone that cares in that hospital.

Lina Bigioni

Our elderly mother has been admitted to this hospital twice in several months. Her experience both times from the emergency department to her stay have been phenomenal. She was brought in by ambulance but when I arrived, the security team personally brought me directly into emergency to see her. The doctors, nurses, volunteers and staff are kind, caring and efficient. They take the time to explain and answer questions; never in a rush to dismiss you. My mother has been in many hospitals over her lifetime and has said to me that this hospital is amazing and in future does not want to go anywhere else. Kudos to the President and Senior Staff, doctors and nurses for running a hospital that gives exceptional care. I had heard the stories about this hospital, but honestly it may have been in the past. Absolutely no sign of the so called "debauchery" and incompetence.

Dr. Nila Nosrati

Dirty, terrible service and medical care. You are lucky to make it out alive.

Joey Arfin

Dear Dr. Jackson, I am writing you about a exceptional experience I had at your hospital under the care of 2 exceptional doctors. I wanted to start by saying because my wife and daughter are both medical professionals that work as nurses in the system I am somewhat aware of the difficulties facing you in the hospital environment day in and day out. I felt compelled to send a note to someone about these 2 fine professionals. It started with a very efficient registration complete with staff to guide me to a waiting area immediately after I finished the automated registration which I found easy to use. It was followed by a long but understandable wait given the volume of patients in the waiting area. I was first seen by Dr Diana Leucute, who not only made me fell comfortable but spent time to explain condition and solutions while reviewing all the test I have had prior to me seeing her. She was patient and made me feel like my case was important and questions relevant. Then we were joined by Dr Vincenzo Basile who again reviewed my case with us both and added some help understanding my future and possible treatment. Why I find this so amazing, is both these docs were busy but made me feel like my questions and time was as valuable as there’s. Something I know hard to do in our current health care system. It was important to me that I made this known because I am sure you hear more of the contrary and more patience should pass along there positive experiences in your hospital. Please feel free to pass my comment a along as I think that your staff and team should be proud of what you are doing. Sincerely, Joey

My wife has been in the hospital for 7 weeks now with a variety of issues. The care she has received has been excellent - there is a strong culture among the front line staff of treating the patient as a human and doing the right thing in the circumstances. This is a hospital that did not have a good reputation in the past - but things have greatly improved. All it needs now is more parking.

Teyfik A

I went to the emergency Saturday night 11.30 had lot of pain on my lungs and it was very hard with breathing! they were not busy even maybe 10 other patients but I was their until 6 am morning just one doctor and 1 nurse more than 5 hours full of pain after 5 hour they give something for pains!!! I never had something like this in my live And we are leaving in CANADA I’m so disappointed health is the important thing for the humans and I feel like they don’t care they were working very slowly when ever I go their they are getting worse. For what i pay yearly 1000 of dollars for the tax?!?! I went to lot of country in Europe I never see something like this in a hospital!!! Specially Mackenzie hospital is very bad! I hope soon they gonna open the new hospital in 400/Mackenzie hopefully the new one is better!!! And you can see on the review 2.7 I don’t know who is responsible for this disaster but please do something!!

The Good: 5/5 Stars for the breakfast menu. 5/5 Stars for the Pediatricians at this hospital Mother and Baby area on the 5th floor are very caring and hospitable. The Bad: Came for my wife's Scheduled Baby Delivery. Waited 9 hours and 15 minutes to see a doctor. 1 nurse came by just to check heartbeat and ask simple questions. Update: Doctor just came and told us that we wasted our day waiting here. My wife should have received the gel application and been sent home. The doctor said that there must have been a miscommunication between the nurse and doctor.

First time ever to this hospital in emergency, it’s about 20minutes after I register myself at Triage and I been well received by every staff so far I dealt. They all very quick , professional and ready to move you to next level of medical help , waiting my ECG report and to see doctor as last nurse told me will happen in next 15 minutes . Way things moving here I am very much sure that it will happen in same time frame nurse have told . I will after I walk out after complete check up and reports but so far considering so far experience I would say it’s much better and quicker here than your family doctor office ????????

Carly Roman

I Have severe ptsd and was refused to let my caregiver join me. I have letters from both a neurologist and psychologist saying I should not be left alone in high stress situations such as the hospital. They refused to let me ask anyone else (front desk nurse). I have been her multiple times during covid and she was allowed in. So why is today different? I can barely sit here without crying this is not right.

Isaac J

The hospital is pretty good and the staff are pleasant. Patient volumes are overwhelming though, be prepared to spend a whole day waiting in the ER before you are seen. For most medical situations you're better off going to an urgent care clinic. I've had two experiences coming to the ER here over the past few years. One time we just gave up and left after spending the entire afternoon waiting, another time it took us a good 8-9 hours before we were finally able to leave the hospital after seeing someone.

Aria Zhang

I received a bill which is doesn't make sense. It said I must pay $359 for the covid clinic. I haven't do any treatment in your hospital. I am really angry about the unreasonable charge. Please give me an explanation about it and remove it from my bill.

Back in Early March, I was dropped off at the ER and had the ambulance called at my house several times, all of the routes going to Mackenzie Health hospital. I suffered severe chest aches, shortness of breath, and anxiety as well as constipation. Doctors are extremely unknowledgeable about their field, kept telling me " i don't know" when I asked them what was wrong with me . I CLEARLY FELT like I had ailments and REAL symptoms, the pain was definitely not in my mind During one ER visit in early march, had an Asian staff member in glasses rudely approach me and asked me " do you do coke?", also inapproprately touched my area of pain in my chest, and had a south asian intaker who rudely ignored my request for information on what was going on with me as I was experiencing extreme chest pain, and he left me all alone with 0 care in a room full of people without explaining ANYTHING about what was going on. Worst hospital on earth! their staff could have been liable for any serious health episodes that could have occurred from my condition that they REFUSED to explain to me fully. Avoid this place

The mission statement is about creative gifts... well use some of that money to improve patient dignity. When you come into hospital you feel vulnerable and it does not help if you a man or woman who is not 5'5 and a size 12. Buy some Hospital gowns for women and men designed with full coverage for dignity and modesty. I had an awful experience of curtains that would not close being put in a gown that does not fit.. because its one size fits all. I have been a patient in Toronto were they offer you bariatric gown.. not a nice turn of phrase..but to be honest I am just happy to have something that offers modesty and dignity. Staff were good and physician was amazing.

Baldwin Cheng

Absolutely disgusting. Came in for an emergency. It's been 12hrs. 12hrs of waiting we still haven't been seen. Not a single nurse can answer our questions. We've been here so long we've seen shift changes!!! Absolutely not acceptable!!!!

Joseph Garisto

I was at the hospital for a procedure andI found all the preparation before the date and on the day of the procedure to be of very professional level. The Doctor took the time to review all my history and the nurses were beyond extra to look after all my needs and keep me informed and comfotable at all times to the very end. Congratulations to all your professionals.... Glad we have such a great place in our FRegion.

Michael Tsang

Surprised that the system for checking in patients as well as status of patients was quite modern here. Friendly staff and the tech used here made the long wait times more bearable. Seeing the status of a loved one helped to make the time go by faster and knowing that they were actually moving through the process was comforting. Hopefully this system is or will be deployed across more hospitals in Canada. Overall a good experience. Would hate to think what the wait times would be without the technology.

MikaelaUwU

Had a procedure done on my knee. Kelly and Soheila were very nice and professional. They answered all my questions and the whole team was fantastic.

Janani Chandramouli

It is very unfortunate that I have to put out another 1-star review for this garbage of a hospital. After been taken to the ER twice, I was basically put in this cold, dingy room, where no staff would be able to attend to me. They were extremely rude and intimidating whenever I asked for something and were least helpful. It probably isn't appropriate to be treating someone who is in a crisis like a prisoner. I've also been getting multiple calls during odd hours to pay my ambulance fees. The only positive thing about this hospital is the emergency doctor and psychiatrist being kind enough to understand my problems. That star is literally just for them or I would really be giving this hospital zero stars. God forbid, if I am in a crisis ever again, I would definitely be going to Markham or Toronto. Not you guys anymore.

Sham

I went to the emergency and waited 5 hrs if you are dying no worries the staff inside got your back in selecting patients , they will let you die inside the hospital and it is not your turn yet .! (No sympathy )

Kennedy Decker

I wish I could put 0 stars. Mackenzie Health is the worst hospital I have ever come across in my life, the absolute disregard for the basic level of care is disgusting.

Gidget Torpio

Today for the first time i became emergency patient due to minor injury. I am scared to go to hospital but i thank major Mackenzie Hospital emergency for my visit is not at all i am expecting. All staff are friendly and helpful. I went at around 4 pm on july 22, starting from the guard who helps us lower the machine for number, to the triage, registration, minor injury to the xray and to Dr. Paul and assistant that pushed my wheelchair back to my daughter. To you all Big Thank you. May God bless and protect you all.

Frank Serravalle

I would give this hospital a zero. I could get a medical degree and treat my daughter myself with the wait times. I waited over 8 hrs to get everything done. People around me waited 9 to 10 hours. I figured out why hospitals make you wait such long times. It's psychological. If you walk in with pain in your arm or foot or whatever, they make you wait 10 hours so you leave with a headache and the pain shifts from your arm to your head. Never again.

my friend has brain damage what do I do

My mother has received outstanding care on the ICU floor. Dr. Dwosh and his team are amazing. They show compassion and concern for the patient and family. What I found to be great was how the rounds are done by the doctor along with the pharmacist and nursing etc. By having this team working together it allows for the best communication and ultimately best care for all ICU patients. Great Work!

Mohsin Aladin

We called in today for a follow up visit following a bad fall by a family member. The staff there were fantastic and really friendly. The appointment did take a bit longer than anticipated but it was busy so no complaints on that front however the car park is stupidly expensive $14 for 1 hour?!

Bella Vega

Honestly the best attention I’ve had in my life ????. I understand that there are lots of people going for different reasons, but everyone from triage to the wonderful nurses from the paediatric area where very kind , I had to be hospitalized because of a malpractice done and had a second appendectomy (never thought I had a part of it inside ????????‍♀️ )thank god I went there, it did take a while for me to get the results from the tests that where done but it was worth it. They saved my life!!! And I will forever be grateful ????. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses of this hospital.

Ana Sunstone

My mother had an emergency visit here last week, unfortunately, and the experience couldn't have been more Amazing! Not only was she treated incredibly well and professionally, but the assessment forms and processes were very thorough and organized. A massive Thank You to the incredible team that operates this hospital! Obviously the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and all the Doctors, Nurses and staff are making Great things happen, as they should be! On behalf of my Mother and our Family... Thank You Again!!

Alex Chernyshov

I don’t know who can rate 5 stars for emergency services when you wait 7 hours. I could not sleep cause of pain in my stomach, went at 5 am to emergency waited 16 hours and they could not diagnose appendicitis treated me like junkie who needed pain killers. Emergency staff tried to send me home. If not for my wife I would be dead. She demanded CAT scan cause they were so unprofessional. It showed it was already bursted only then they start moving. Thanks to doctor and his team that saved me! But to get to professionals it is a lottery!!!!!

CHARLENE MARIE

Very caring & efficient timely appt.

ana hita

been admitted to the hospital (cardiology unit) through emergency for few days. everything seems to be perfect doctors, staff, nurses, service, patient care, bed, food. i truly can't find anything disappointing with this hospital. (i do not have any experience in other units )

Mena Pradenas

Giving this hospital 1 star is too kind... Unfortunately, this is the only hospital close to us, not much of a choice. I literally had to request the nurse to do blood work on my daughter. We came in, no ECG, absolutely nothing... The nurses have HORRIBLE attitudes and have no time to explain anything to patients. WTF IS THIS ABOUT??? ---------- Just heard one of the nurses give a man who was trying to tell her in broken English that his wife was in a lot of pain and she completely dismissed him in a horrible way. WE ARE DISGUSTED BY THIS HOSPITAL, THEY REALLY NEED NEW STAFF, BECAUSE THE ONE THEY HAVE LACKS EVERYTHING REQUIRED TO HELP SOMEONE. You know after this horrible experience, meeting Dr. Gibbons was very refreshing, he has all the wonderful qualities that the nurses lack.

Kaya Tran

I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all the wonderful nurses and doctors and paramedic Mackenzie Health for taking care of me for 11.5 hours. This is my 6th times called 911 and those 6 times paramedics staff are very helpful and wonderful and have conversation and hearing my gallstones attacked stories. Today my gallstones attacked was so random that I have to go to emergency department as unusually. And 3mg morphine doesn't help much so doctor decided they will send me to specialist in hospital for surgery instead of specialist doctor that took forever for appointment to see him. I am thankful for wonderful doctors and nurses for helping pushing me in wheelchair, crying over how much gallstones attacked pain and gallbladder surgery. I wouldn't say will be my last time coming into #mackenziehealth. Since today, I had surgery for gallstones/gallbladder removed, meaning my pain won't go away for few days so I might come back again. Once again, thank you for doctors and nurses and all the staff at #mackenziehealth for taking care of me, for understanding, feel my pain and being very PATIENCE with me. I am official got my gallstones/gallbladder surgery. I don't have to worry about in the middle, daylight or evening for random attacks again.!

Kayla Riegert

I was brought in new years eve after a bad reaction to someone slipping something into my drink. In and out of conciousness for 5 solid hours and in the ER for 9. On one of the moments I came to the nurse assigned to do my blood work said "she's just some drunk girl why are we running so many tests?" It was extremely upsetting as I at that point had no idea what was going on with me and was still very scared. Really poor attitude on that nurse other staff were very polite and kind

Kristina Kagramanyan

If I could give this hospital a 0, I absolutely would. The staff is rude. Records within departments are not transferable. Why is a patient asked about the type of IV they are supposed to get? Referencing records should be a no brainer. Not to mention that asking the patient these types of questions may turn out to be very dangerous. Nurses that change with each shift seem to be clueless about their patient and ask the same questions the previous shift has. Seems to be the norm among nurses to ignore patient calls. Babysitting and standing in front of the personnel is a must to get ANYTHING done here. Is there a point for taxpayers' money to go towards this hospital?

Mark Mcnamara

Brand new Mackenzie Health Hospital at Jane St and Major Mackenzie near Canada's Wonderland. Visited January 5th for Covid 19 Vaccine shot and found hospital very convenient especially with free short-term parking. Extremely bright lighting on roadways and sidewalks. Easy to follow signage to get to vaccine entrance with no icy patches on the path

Moe H

I had never been here before. It wasn't an emergency but I knew I would need x-rays so a walk-in clinic was not the answer. I waited a few hours until later in the night when I knew it would be less busy. From the moment I walked in the door till the time I left it was 1 hour. I barely had time to sit down, and the place was far from empty. I was met with smiling faces from triage to registration to ER, x-ray back to ER, the MD and nursing staff. everyone was friendly and kind. I was happy to be attended to in ER by Trevor. The whole interaction was a pleasure! I am happy to have this Hospital in York Region

Neil Krohmalnik

I tried to buy a coffee and was turned away. Worst hospital in Ontario in every single way. Gaps in their processes starting at check in.

Annie LA

The level of incompetence and lack of communication and compassion is baffling and unacceptable. Absolutely NO reports from doctors for days; difficulty even reaching a human to get information on a family member. Staff not having information or knowing what is going on. Would give minus stars if possible. A truly horrible, stressful experience. And reading other reviews I see people have also had terrible experiences. Please do not bother responding with apologies and ask ME to spend yet more of my time calling because no one answers phones. The lack of service is disgraceful and any other kind of business would fail with such poor care and service.

Ryan Quinn

I rushed my girlfriend here because she was screaming in agony, and needed urgent attention. They wouldn’t even give her pain medication until we were there for 4 hours. She has PCOS and all the symptoms of a ruptured cyst and they completely ignored that saying it was a problem with her colon. So they forced her to stay overnight with insufficient pain management and the staff constantly treating us like garbage. We didn't even have a room. She stayed in a chair and I was lying on the floor, which was absolutely filthy. After 16 hours she saw a surgeon who sent her home saying she was fine, because the pain had stopped for a while. Now its twice as bad, we’re rushing her back and she’s being forced to deal with this tremendous pain for hours yet again. It simply isn't busy enough for us to receive such little priority, this is a result of most of the staff here not taking their job seriously. You don’t see a patient writhing in pain who has a reproductive health problem, look for that problem in THE WRONG PLACE and then discharge them because you found nothing. This is absolutely horrendous, and so many of these people should NOT be allowed to practice medicine or deal with patience. This is completely unacceptable.

Sheryl Love

Have been multiple times now to see Neurology, various testing etc. The Drs and technologists are very friendly, professional and are very helpful. I have been shown a lot of compassion, and have been attended to very quickly. I am very pleased with this hospital

joann gatherall

I recently was taken to Mackenzie Health center because of heat stroke. The staff were busy busy but took time for me. I want to thank them very much for their speedy service. My nurse was excellent. I wish I could remember her name. Thank you.

Kelvin T

For the COVID-19 Assessment Centre: extremely horrible arrangements, you guys don't even put a sign beside the line? Mix all people with walk-in and appointments? Wasting time waiting in the line here and no employee for information.

Evan s

Nurses and doctors are very friendly and helpful! Thanks for their hard work and patience!

Alexandra Shvarts

As an Employment Specialist for York Region and Toronto, I came into Mackenzie Health Hospital for some testing to be done and I was very happy to see how amazing the staff are in the facility. The doctors are very wise and friendly, the administration staff are very welcoming, the security are nice, the nurses are very confident and pleasurable to work with. Thank you so much for your hospitality and I am always happy to come in and see everyone ! Love, Alexandra Shvarts; BHRM

Mackenzie Health hospital is modern, very well organized, very efficient. The handling of Covid-19 situation is excellent (screening, hand sanitizer everywhere, everybody wearing masks and they offer new masks at the entrance). Any staff you ask, they will stop and help you. I have had total hip replacement surgery and my experience was excellent. Everybody I needed to deal with was outstanding, but I feel compelled to mention Dr. Christopher Gallimore, the surgeon for my operation, and Randa Tighe, patient flow navigator. Both were, and still are, very friendly, caring and always returning my calls and answering my concerns. Thank you to all.

James Romulo Aldea

This hospital has one of the best facilities for a mother and a newborn child. Our experience from the birthing unit, maternity ward, to peds was way above our expectation. The staff are not only friendly and approachable but also knowledgeable and very professional. The facility is always clean and does not have the characteristic pungent odour when you go in a hospital. I highly recommend this place particularly for couples who are expecting.

Vrinze

Walked in the hospital sick. Had food poisoning, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and multiple panic attacks at night. Waited in there for 5 hours for them to tell me to eat healthier food options such as meats, carbs, etc. Never coming back to this place, ever. P.S. still feeling sick while righting this.

mike alla

Worst hospital ever they should learn from south lake went for bloodwork sat noon for a 5 day old infant they were not able to register me for an hour due to complications after waiting 1 hour by the emergency went upstairs the nurse was late to work 45m and nobody else could help. This hospital does not cure people instead they make it worst for the patient they wasted my time and risked my child’s health by making me wait by emergency. Lazy and helpless employees they should be ashamed of themselves at this hospital

Jacob N

Terrible! triage consists of "taking a number" based on 2 questions to determine if you need a mask. over 30 mins to actually talk to a human being. Joke of a sign says numbers may be called out of order. I have no idea how as they do not know the condition of the people waiting. Who ever came up with this idea should be fired. Last time I come here. By the way my child had a Fever spike of 107. Terrible terrible terrible. Update: one we finally got to see a human they were polite and efficient.

Jessica Draper

I went in for covid testing - security guard was VERY nice but some people in line had no mask :((((((((( the lady asking me questions was nice too. parking was cheap !! I also went there for my concussion last year, i dont remember much but it was very cool experience --> 10/10

Leslie Caldwell

Mackenzie Richmond Hill is THE BEST hospital in the GTA Their focus is on the community, the patient, and their health care. Right from the cafeteria staff to the doctors. Their focus is the patient. It is so clean, efficient and caring. It’s worth the drive to Richmond Hill Mackenzie Health!

Murchagak Decent

This hospital is really a bad place specially when you walk in sick and they treat you like animal not as human. All staffs are rude. I was there with my mom they doctor told us the nurse will come to give her a pill by mouth just a pill took 3 hours. When I ask the nurse he said he forgot about it. This is not professional it’s his job and he forgot about duty. I do not recommend this hospital for anyone. Please do not take your loved once to this hospital if you love them they make it worse. I have give one star there is no options for zero. Thank you for those who read this..

David Poghosyan

Excellent experience with our three kids on this Hospital. Labor & delivery more than five star 100% recommended

Arash

I got my vaccine faster than my dad getting the milk. ????

afagh mir

Very poor services specially when its about covid 19. The covid 19 test center is crowded enough which if you dont have the virus you will get in there. Rude staff, and very bad system. Mychart which is for checking the results dont work at all. Dont go to this hospital its just waisting time.

Amy Cheung

PCR test at Mackenzie Health's Covid Assessment Centre was fast, efficient and reliable. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Booking appointments were a little challenging due to high demand, but the MyChart app was easy to use. The call centre operator was also helpful with resolving our concerns.

Miss Jeanne

I am unclear if the staff at the main entrance have compassion fatigue or just need further training on patient centred care. I brought someone to the hospital for a procedure and they were not polite, hospitable or respectful. Bringing someone in who has a disability and needed support one would expect a sense empathy and compassion. We have had better care from the greeter at wal-mart. It takes nothing to be polite, courteous and respectful. I would say to the staff at the main entrance... put yourself in the place on the person coming into mackenzie. Vulnerable.. Anxious... needing supportive presence... This hospital has some amazing staff. It has great doctors nurses and front line staff. But when the face of the hospital is the folk at the main entrance.... its not meeting your mission and values.

*V *

So unprofessional. I have an appointment coming up soon and I just called them to check when my appointment was since I had forgotten the exact date and the person who picked up the phone said "okay please hold" and ended up giving me the "sorry our office is now closed" automated message... like if its actually closed (which it's not) at least tell me to call back another time? Why waste my time and tell me to hold when you know you won't get back to me

george feratsakos

Beware of this hospital. Specifically if you dont have insurance.they will charge you for Services you never received.i went for a simple question for my mother that her hand was broken and they send me a bill stating that my mother was treated in a room and the doctor examined her.they are all liars and with disrespectful ways they are trying to get money from patients on need.i was never informed about any charges and never signed anything, even though they wrote so many lies in the report And threatened me that if I dont pay it will affect my credit score!!! Stay away...

Mehdi Hamedani

I waited more than 3 hours in Emergency room after check in the hospital at 11 pm to see a doctor. When I asked an associate nurse around 2 AM to let me know if a doctor will show up, he said it is not clear and it is up to you to stay or leave the hospital. I truly can’t believe that he told me this. After 3.5 hours a doctor showed up but he only spent 1 minute for us and said that he is very busy and should take care of other patients. I noticed that there is only one doctor that night in the emergency room with lots of patients. I appreciate all efforts of the doctors, nurses and other staff but I think Mackenzie Health must have more than one doctor in the emergency department for night shifts and should improve quality of health care services.

Pouya Razmjoo

I had bad experience with the reception for covid test, reception was so rude and gave me mask with her hand ???? so if she has covid there is possibility that thousands of people get it bcuz of her and when I complained about it, she said that’s what it is, i touch the back of mask not the front, holy moly covid virus can’t get to front ???? idiot ????

Tian Mei

There was two ultrasound lady and only one doctor to review your results. Average wait time is 1.5 hour, so if you are super pregnant ..it’s the most uncomfortable situation to sit for that long.

Penny Stock Whispers

If you value your life, go somewhere else. I begged my mother not to come here for her treatments. I insisted that i would drive her to a better one, but she didn't want the inconvenience of a long drive. Now, i miss her so much. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE HOSPITAL!

Mahi dibajil

I was hospitalized for three days and I can say that it has many good doctors and nurses. This hospital is 100 times better than Newmarket Hospital. I was only hospitalized in Newmarket for the one night and that night was very difficult for me...Their behavior was awful. I did everything I could to not be hospitalized any more even I was not feeling well. But Major Mackenzie Hospital treated me the best in those three nights, and the nurse at all times, with their good manners, was ready to meet your needs. I wish the best for this hospital and its personnel's.

leanne n

8 or 9 years ago 2 of the staff saved my life :) so ty to the staff <3

Mehrnoosh Z

I had my knee operation on October 7,2020. Amazing staff before and after surgery , nurses were so friendly and nice and helpful , hospital was very clean and staff were fully follow the COVID 19 protocols, thank you ???? to all , great experience I had ????

Sofia Robertson

My 5 year old broke an arm and I was there from 12:45 -7:30PM. Dr and Nurses in the Minor care were great, x-ray techs great but I have absolutely never had a worse experience with a front desk lady named GIL. She canceled the appointment that was ordered by the dr to the fracture clinic AND TOLD ME TO CALL THEM TO SCHEDULE and appointment. This is after I asked her not to change the appointment that was already issued to me by the dr himself (his shift changed and he left). GIL continued to be rude and even called me names in front of my child while her colleague ran to try to fix her mistakes. All the people in the patient room saw her and made comments but the moment the charge nurse came back she stopped and walked away. I cannot believe that this person is allowed to work with people and in a hospital. Unfortunately we all know where this is going to end up. PLEASE CALL PATIENT RELATIONS - patient relations doesn’t even do anything, they just say we are sorry for what happened we will look into more. No one will even BOTHER to address what she is doing as wrong no one is actually held accountable- staff if 100% protected and they can be rude, unprofessional and even conniving where she flat out LIED without any consequence.

Nora Kia

Went for covid test, at registration asked me to take off my mask and she gave me a hospital mask which is fine, except she Handed me the mask with her hands, I told her that’s not okay and that if she is carrying the virus she will hand it to thousands of people who are going there to get tested! She said “well I only touched the back”, I’m not sure how that’s any better?! I’m disappointed in this hospital, honestly they need to be making sure everyone stays safe. Use a tong or something to hand out masks at least!

Skynex Transport

Some of the nurses were way too desensitized. Just in it for the paycheck. Shouldn't be here if you don't have humanity

Amberlea Winchester

I was rushed to the hospital due to a severe anaphylactic bee allergy. It was so bad that I was put on an H2 blocker(kid friendly drug). I was a bit disorientated by the drug. My nurse seemed to be very understanding and patient. He was very helpful. Even tough I was yelling and saying weird things that would be very embarrassing he seemed very patient. He brought warmed blankets checked on me every 7 minutes or so. I was given water and I was put right beside the Triage Nurse(for monitoring). She was also very nice. The hospitality they provided was outstanding. I was yelling “SOMEONE GET ME WATER FOR SOMALIA” and “THE DOCTORS ARE SAVING ME” and at one point I even cried for nothing????. They were very nice. Best hospital I have ever been to!

Compu-sac Inc

As someone who sees a doctor at Mackenzie Health, I am pleased with the service I get! Dr Chen is always very caring and ensures that he follows up with me. Thanks Dr. Chen! He is of the medical unit.

Afshin Sadri

Bunch of incompetent people running this place.

Carmela Akiki

I had an after surgery appointment with my surgeon, and it happened that it wasn’t on the calendar. Rose was a wonderful help. She called the surgeon and got me registered in minutes.

M B

Worst Hospital Ever. On a call for 3 hours to book a COVID test. First off, the call would constantly get disconnected after about 30 minutes because they are getting "too many calls". After 3 hours someone picked up and then transferred my call which reset my position in queue and I had to wait another 2 hours. Ended up having to do a walk in and wait all day long in a line up. Ridiculous. Avoid this place at all costs.

Ehsan Maghsoudlou

Highly professional, friendly, and helpful staff at Emergency Department. Thanks to everyone for their great work.

Clasix015

The staff were excellent. Very kind and helpful. It was cery organized and the doctor was great. He was informative, respectful and patient. First time there ever let alone in EMS. It was a scary experience what happened to me and their kindness meant a great deal to me. Thank you!

Honestly every single experience I’ve had at this hospital has been exceptional and I’ve had quite a few experiences. As recent as this morning via emergency.

Lorne Glazer

Both I and my Dad have been a imaging outpatient a few times in the past 12 months. Each experience was consistently wonderful. There was no real wait time. (I don’t count the 2 minutes between taking a number and being called a wait.) The directions of where to go next through the whole process were clear, unambiguous, given to me on paper and verbally. Everyone we encountered was polite, and eager to help. The waiting, examining and procedure rooms as well as the halls were all very clean, well lite and pleasant. At the first appointment, everything was on time, people were cheerful & helpful, and the whole process from walking in to leaving the building (yes including the CAT Scan) was 20 minutes. I thought we might have been on Candid Camera…. When we had the next appointment we joked, “What are the chances we could receive the same level of service”. Apparently the answer was 100%, because the second appointment was no different than the first. Same for the subsequent appointments. I offer kudos to all of the staff at Mackenzie Health for making a trip for tests at the hospital a very pleasant experience. The level of service we received was terrific and I wish that all other service oriented business in Canada would match it. Actually the only difficulty I had was trying to find where on the Mackenzie website is the page that I could enter these comments! Keep up the fantastic work!

Morteza Litkoohi

I've done my endoscopy yesterday and they were very organized and on time. Dr Arya was very kind and explained the procedure before the surgery and everything went smoothly

Jérémie Saunier

I went to this hospital for a chest pain. My first experience in Canada for hospital. Staff was great and after the results all is good. Staff was great from the beginning to the end and they check you one last time before you leave. I had blood test, X-ray, ECG, everything done in 2.30 hours.

Rozita Seysan

I recently went in for COVID test. It was well organized, and the staff were polite, patient and friendly.

art lo

They had miscommunication with the doctor and I had to suffer for months to get proper MRIs and once they did, the radiologists said I got no problem, so I went to the other radiologists and they told me they didn't take the MRI properly so I had to take another one which took another month.

Mojtaba Azizi

I am writing this review after having a surgery on March 16, 2021. I am hundred percent satisfied with the whole process and procedure. Everything is organized and from when you step in the hospital till the time you leave, you are well taken care of. The staff especially SOHEILA and KELLY are professionally trained and they care for and about you. They check on you again and again to see if you need anything. They ensure that you are attended to and taken care of. They know their job well; all that must be done is done smoothly and seamlessly. As for precautionary measures against COVID-19, they follow all protocols and take all the measures seriously. When you are there, you are in good hands. Thanks to you all front liners in Mackenzie Health!

Mainland Styles

It was a great emergency experience. All things considered. I read all kind of complaints and we didn't experience any of that. All the people griping about having to pay because they don't have a health card. Well it's no different from any place in the world. Doctors, nurses and staff were top notch. Everything was super quick and efficient. Thank you.

fereshteh sheidaei

I have 4-5 bad experience for reffering to emergency ward of major Mackenzie hospital in hard time, tthe emergency ward is small, all the people with different disease baby to old man sit side by side , they transfer disease easily, doctors and nurses are very slow, not professional and just busy with computer typing, in the night just one doctor stay there , he doesn’t introduce himself he is not friendly and just in less than one minute ask few questions, he doesn’t touch the patient for professional examination or even doesnt use stetescope for patient with discomfort in chest, send patient to blood lab to kill the time for 5 hours and nurse do blood work after 2 hours and result after 3 hours and see the doctor for tratment after 2 hours and usually mistake treatment and just send patient for internist appointment for next 10 days, easy peasy !!!! When we complain supervisor come and say it is our rule waiting mn 5 hours, just ministry ordered us just having one doctor and 2 nurse is more than enogh for night shift, I made consent to leave there after 2 hours and supervisor didn’t make any apology , I hope this hospital will be change to great real general hospital and and get rid of this unuseful clinic that make stress to patients, most people in richmond hill have No other place for emergency and even ambulance doesnt go any where else because they say “it is closest hospital. We are not allowed to go any where else” even other hospitals they don’t make reception for people who live in Richmondhill, tell us what we can do to get rid of this hospital in this area in Richmondhill, I am really unsatisfied of its management , they don’t follow international alphabet of emergency and very rude, 3 years before we reffred to emergency for apandicitis of my son , he had all signs of apandicitis but they wasted the time for 10 hours and apandis burst and made abcess in his abdomen , just God saved him

Jords Siciliano

The ER nurse was terrible. She was running from patient to patient barely doing her job like a chicken with its head cut off. The ER doctor told me that I would have to get an ultra sound just to be sure that it was my appendix. The guy who did my ultra sound was great, but apparently the shots weren't good enough. Back to the ER where I was told I needed a cat scan. After the cat scan, they confirmed it was my appendix and they I would need surgery. The doctor told me they would give me some antibiotics and that I would get surgery by 6:30AM the next day. They even told me that there was a good chance they would rupture. WHAT? And I have to wait? The headless nurse came to give me the antibiotics but got distracted and I had to remind her to do it several times before she finally did. They told me I would be waiting in the ER till a room was ready. It was almost 1AM at this point and I was exhausted and starving and dehydrated because I was told I couldn't eat or drink. They put me on a stretcher in the hallway to sleep all night. Headless nurse told me that I wouldn't be admitted for surgery until I had a room. I forced myself up and went to complain to some other nurses who laughed at me and told me I was hallucinating due to morphine. I tried to tell them that's what the ER nurse told me but they didn't care. So I went back to my corner and cried. Another nurse approached me and said there was no documentation to prove that the ER doctor told my family and I that I would be having surgery by then. I was finally admitted into a room where I had to wait until 4PM before I had surgery. When I woke up from surgery, I was in massive amounts of pain and I was not given a Popsicle/freezie like I was given in other hospitals. I was told having anything would make me sick. I was dehydrated because they had barely given me any fluids through my IV (I had only been through two bags in two whole days) and I hadn't had anything to drink since 11:30AM the day before. My recovery period after surgery, wasn't too awful and the doctors who did my surgery were okay. Everything else was a terrible experience.

I waited here for almost two-hours past my scheduled appointment. I asked where I was in the que and was informed there was 7-8 people ahead of me. This would have easily been an additional two hours if not more. I left as I had to pick up my son from daycare. What is the point of having an appointment. I still have stiches in my hand that I need to get removed. Nobody answers the phone.

Hospital, Doctors, staff and Nurses are wonderful. Very caring and make you feel at home. All in out five stars all across

My friend always complaints about this hospital, he goes for regular appointments there. I visited with him to see what he is complaining about. Sorry to say but, OHIP should stop paying this hospital. Let them turn into private hospital and then may be they will serve the public better. Very dirty, only one nurse seemed nice in the department.

Wednesday, October 20th, I met with my orthopaedic surgeon for my follow-up appointment, my stitches were remove and I was fitted for a fibreglass cast, ANOTHER GREAT EXPERIENCE at Mackenzie Health…. 2 for 2!!! The passion for their jobs fuels the positive energy to patients, I love it!! Unfortunately I don’t recall the gentlemen’s name that fitted my cast, He had me in stitches, no pun intended. His personality and humour was on point. Jessica the nurse that removed my stitches has hands of gold. I didn’t feel a tug or a pinch, she was comforting and truly one of a kind. Looking forward to seeing them all on the 17th when my cast is removed!!

The Mackenzie Hospital is okay, it's clean and they try to be efficient in the ER which is very much appreciated. Much better experience than other hospitals in Toronto.

Hooraman Nature

C3 Medicine Orange is the WORST unit of this hospital! Horrible attitude, lack of nurses, terrible doctors!

Thank you Mackenzie Health for taking good care of my mother for the past three years. She’s currently in remission for breast cancer. …

My uncle was admitted to the hospital through emergency, the nurses throughout our entire stay from emergency to admittance into a room were extremely full of themselves and were not patient. The nurse taking care of my uncle suggested that I didn’t need to translate because she decided for herself that his ability to speak English was good enough when in fact I accompanied to do just that. She also whispered under her breath that I was asking too many questions, and too many of the same questions when she never actually directly answered any of them. I’ve never been treated with that much disrespect in a situation where compassion and patience should be utmost. Very disappointed.

They misdiagnosed my father for 4 months. They treated him for a stroke even though there was obviously much more wrong with him. Once they realized they messed up they asked us to leave and go to a different hospital. We went to Toronto Western where they were able to properly diagnose my father immediately. Unfortunately, it was too late as this point as Mackenzie had treated him for the wrong thing. He died shortly afterwards. While at Mackenzie, Dr Berger was incredibly rude to my family. When we asked him to please consider running more tests on my father he yelled at us. During our 4 months at Mackenzie Dr Berger took two vacations. Once while he was on his first of 2 vacation we were able to get his replacement doctor to agree to do anther MRI on my father. This doctor was certain that there was something lese wrong with my father. It was set to take place on a Monday morning. However, Dr Berger returned on that same day and canceled the MRI minutes before it was dude to happen. He also insisted on an apology for going behind his back and questioning his diagnosis. That MRI would have revealed the true diagnosis of my father, and potentially could have added months, if not years to his life. However, it would be two more months before neurologist who happened to come across my fathers file chose to do an MRI and determine that there was no stroke. At this point Dr Berger asked us to leave the hospital and seek help somewhere else. Toronto Western diagnosed him with PML. At this point in time it was too late to treat him in an effort to slow down this brutal brain disease. They insisted that if he had been properly diagnose even 2 months earlier we could have slowed does the disease.

This hospital needs some renovations and construction. Inside is not that clean and needs more staff because you should wait for long time to see the doctor and it's not really good when you don't feel well.

Drasan Developments

Had our 75yo mother to ER in psychiatric distress. She was treated with great respect, and genuine concern. She was examined and admitted in the timeliest manner possible. Family reassured she is in a safe environment in which to recover.

I had a medical test in this hospital on July 17, 2021 and I really expressed of the care and attention that staff provided to me. Special thanks to Ms Soheila Azadandish for her excellent care and attention to me and other patients.

Family Room

Perhaps one of the worst hospitals in the province. Where to begin? Healthcare staff are rude and act "holier than thou", the building is old (like really old), parking is extremely limited and incredibly expensive, and ER is always jammed (although since Covid-19 hit, ER traffic has decreased somewhat). If you can avoid this hospital, i.e. go to Humber River or Markham-Stouffville, DO IT! ????

Ario Hadian

So Mackenzie Health wants to charge me $30 to print off / email a few sheets of paper to me containing MY medical records. They also said they won't release it unless my doctor agrees that it's okay for me to see it. This is absolutely ridiculous. Firstly, I'm not a minor. I don't need anyone's permission to see my OWN medical records. Note that this is not something unique to Mackenzie Health. Like many of Canada's ridiculous laws and regulations, this really makes you wonder about the nature of the country you live in. Secondly, I cannot afford $30. Therefore I am barred from accessing my own medical record that I need for special accommodations. I tried really hard to not insult anyone or use any curse words but it took a lot of self control. Once again, this is absolutely ridiculous.

Kunal Bhandari

My experience with Mackenzie health was good. All nurses in cardiology section were good and respectful. Dr. Ashish Patel is gem of a person. You can trust him fully for right decisions in cardiology. I am thankful to Mackenzie health for helping me to recover speedy.

Byron Tyers

Recently had a knee surgery performed at Mackenzie. I've had other routine surgeries performed at other hospitals, and I have to comment on how easy and organized everything seems to operate at Mackenzie Health. Doctors, nurses and support staff were nothing but friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. If you have options on your choice of hospital to visit, Mackenzie Health would make a great choice.

Cihat Ozturk

Pregnant? Never ever deliver your baby at this hospital. Do not even come closer here. We had our second baby at this hospital and from A to Z, everything is awful and unprofessional. Cleanness, nurses (except two nice ladies), service, rooms,hospitality.. You can't find any of these in this hospital. I ask a question to the nurse, the answer is "you don't have it, you didn't bring it". 1 star is even too much for here. They say because of the Covid-19 situation, visitor can't go in the hallway, but you have to walk through hallway for the visitor restrooms. They put 4 moms, their visitors and the babies = 12 lives in ONE room and talk about safety. 4 moms use a single washroom in the room and talk about pandemic. Embarrassing.

Dani

I came here in June for surgery. I was in the level 2 C Wing for this procedure. The staff and workers were just so damn incredible and kind. They went above and beyond my expectations for accommodations and spoke to me to help ease my anxiety. Even now, I'm truly touched and happy I got to encounter such lovely staff. I was well taken care of and received attention when needed. Thank you so much!!

Cornelious Magnus

The heck to those who made a bad review. (._. I love how they treat my father and gave them advice on his diet. Food was amazing. People are less strict like i can go without asking where i am going. I am sad that this place was underbudget. You got my Seal of approval. Keep it up.

I had very bad experience back to May, 2020. I had extremely all body pain and heart problem called 911 went there. And I was not able to walk without walker. They kept me in emergency for two days. The same day night no food no water. All day no one came to see me based on emergency doctor’s request. When I asked for food at late night an Asian nurse brought me a cup of apple juice only. I asked for help to go to washroom. She put a portable toilet for me. However I was not able to walk to the toilet. I asked for help. She said to me rudely why I was not able to walk. Then she threw me a diaper on my bed saying use this so that you don’t bother others at night. I was not able to put it on by myself at all. Good thing is next morning a nurse called Jennifer is on shift helped me a lot and encouraged me to be strong. I really did not get any help from this hospital except Jen. I would say do not go to this hospital if you have other choices

Patricia DiGirolamo

I would like to take a moment and commend the staff of the senior wellness clinic for the excellent care they have and continue to give on my mothers behalf. The secretary Rosa always greets us with a pleasure smile and kind words is always ready to accommodate us and it is so comforting to know that she understands our culture. The nurse who does the initial checkup( please forgive me for not acknowledging your name) before seeing the doctor is simple the kindest most gentle of souls thank you a thousand times over. And then last but certainly not least is wonder woman Dr. Liliani, words do not express how grateful we are for her care on my mothers behalf, going above and beyond. To all these special people who work so well together, like a fine oiled machine, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your care and concern of Carmela Caltana

marcos martins

Horrible service. One doctor all evening, tons of nurses standing around doing nothing, student doctors that just waste time, medical equipment all over waiting area where everyone and anyone can touch, dirty and cluttered. Waiting room has nowhere to sit. Doctor and triage nurse are great and 5 star... But this hospital needs a better system in place

grace chiacchia

I will NEVER take anyone to this hospital ever again. I had two extremely awful experiences. First my father who is in his 70's, severe diabetic was in emergency complaining of chest and arm pain. Was kept waiting for several hours and no one ever looked at him. He left without being checked and went to another hospital where he was told he had a heart attack. Second my aunt was taken by ambulance because she had fainted and was bleeding rectally. No tests were done. She was told she is dehydrated. Went home, passed out again, then taken to another hospital and had to have 10 blood transfusions and was diagnosed with a GIST tumor. How many people must die before anyone does anything about this hospital. Sad thing is that the new campus is a 10 minute walk from home but I would rather go somewhere else!!!!!!

DerpyDitto

The staff were friendly and helpful, almost no waiting needed before being tested and treated. Thought of hours waiting but turned out not. Got better after their treatment and feeling thankful.

Aliya D

They have upgraded their system and it has made the process faster. Friendly/talkative staff. I obviously don't want to be in a hospital, the experience isn't enjoyable, but I was happy dealing with helpful individuals.

Conte Sloan

We live about and hour and a half away but ended up in Emergency here with my nine-year-old while in the area. From the moment we arrived until we saw the physician, everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Mackenzie Health was well organized, clean, and offered great, attentive care. Couldn't ask for more from a hospital!

Maria V Roberto

Pleasantly surprised to see improvements towards patient relations and patient services. Had day surgery and the RNs on Jan. 15/19 were all wonderful. Thorough and attentive. Special thanks to Lucy, Winnie and Dorothy. Haven't had my surgery yet but I'm sure everyone else will be just as caring. I would really like to see a program or services for patients like myself who are single and live alone, to have the option to purchase a "home at last" drive home program. Someone to drive me home, stay an hour or two and maybe make a quick snack for the patient just arriving at home. Please consider this as I would be extremely helpful. Thank you. ????

Vaitheeswaran Ramaswamy

Very pleasantly surprised at all the upgrades in Urology Clinic at the Hospital. Operations are streamlined and efficient. Very little wait time and the entire experience was simply awesome. Staff and the Doctor were nice, courteous, and professional as always. Thanks a lot

Where do I begin. I thought I was the only one that left the hospital with a sour taste. First visit was a few years ago where I walked in with partial Achilles tears. triaged all that jazz and patiently waited my turn. Lots of hours go by until a nurse walks me into the other waiting room, where she asked 'did you walk in? You should be in a wheel chair, you might need surgery' sat down in the other waiting room when I was seen by a doctor eventually who suggested I go in a cast for the next few weeks to get the tendons to attach naturally(ended up getting tears again). Nurse cast me up, gives me some crutches and then says doctor will come in and see you. I wait, all casted up, doc comes in and says we'll get you a wheel chair. But then I was told I was good to go, part of me will forever be waiting for that wheel chair lol Next visit was for mental health regarding mental stability. Waited less then 7 hours to be a assessed a few times by a few nurses. Cool. I was scheduled to see a doctor. 2 or so weeks pass, I go in for the doctors assessment. I was told that the hospital would get back to me in regards to some sort of therapy. Never got that call for therapy. The wheel chair was all fun and games, but the mental health for me is a problem. What really irked me was I just got a letter in the mail asking for a donation, but I haven't even got a call for therapy or a direction for therapy. I reach out for help and/or direction for mental health and I get nothing, makes me think and feel like asking for mental help isn't worth it since I have jump through so many hoops to get it. /rant

Short wait time for day surgery. Fantastic staff, very helpful. Everything is checked atleast twice to make sure there is nothing missed. Every one is friendly and introduces themselves. Thanks for making my (short) visit very positive. Special thanks to Marsha, Winnie and all the nurses (sorry don't remember all your names), also thank you to Dr. Sowerby, Sergei and the entire operating room staff for making me comfortable before and after the operation. I really can't think of any complaints, simply excellent.

Bri H

Just wish the phone on the website worked! I doesn't .. I had to call the local Vaughn line. After my sister fractured her knee, she has spent the last 3 weeks trying to get in touch with the fracture clinic, yesterday I finally was able to leave a voicemail. Just wish their communication skills were much better, there is for sure room for improvement.

Y B

I can only speak for imaging scans that I've had here. Both have been very good experiences; on time and good staff. I especially like the mychart app.

Scott Jackson

I would say where one would go to die but they try send you home before that

I want to sincerely thank the staff at Mackenzie Health, we found them to be outstanding. We know that hospital staff have one of the most challenging jobs and are some of the hardest working people in the workforce. This team was remarkable and, on many occasions, went above and beyond the call of duty. My mother was admitted in Nov 2018 and starting with the attentive and compassionate care we received in Emergency through the following weeks...we felt that everyone there had our best interest at heart. I would like to acknowledge Mr. James Sweeney, for looking at our situation and offering sound and educated advice. I feel fortunate and honored to have dealt with him. Any hospital stay is stressful for families. During our most stressful period, we were fortunate to meet James and his team. Although some of the stress could not be eliminated, It was much easier to handle. I would also like to thank Mr. Stationwala for his excellent leadership at Mackenzie Health. The care and professionalism was second to none. We have been and will continue to tell our friends and family of the excellent care at Mackenzie Health. Sincerely, Carol and Frank DiDonato

Hnan Aldeep

The hospital is very un-organized. Most of the staff are rude and rushed me. I had barely any rest as I was being interrupted by many of there workers at many moments. Some of the Nurses and Doctors were great but most of the Environmental and Food Services team need to learn how to treat people better when a problem arises especially there Managers! I've contacted both Managers of those departments and none of them returned any of my calls! Definitely not the place to get the care that anyone needs. If you want to get good treatment in every aspect then I suggest you try another hospital.

MARIAM AMIRI

I asked from a join group of woman in social media for a recommendation for a great hospital to deliver my baby ? You know what all those comments are negative about this hospital which very sad ???? I wanted to go there now I have to change my hospital

Susan O'Brien

A family member had day surgery here today. We were very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of all the staff we dealt with. I wouldn't hesitate to visit Mackenzie Health in the future.

Zen Shah

Went in for an endoscopy overall exeperance was great had no issue and everyone was so nice. I would recommend comming here and was informed well fro the point of walking on all they way to meeting the doctor all asking questions and knowing more info about me. Great experience..

Ryan Wu

Bad experience here had trouble breathing and I had to wait in the waiting hall of 3 hours and it was 5 in the morning and barely any patients. Ridiculous and the nurse didn't want to answer any questions. The specialists are nice and caring but everyone else does below whats expected. Now with covid they quoted my dad 1 day for a result on the phone and now on the paper it says 5-7 days. We now have to rebook a flight costing over 5 grand. Terrible and unorganized.

Carolina Herrera

Terrible experience. It took me forever to get a hold of someone on the phone while my father was at the hospital. Even the circumstances that we are currently in, you would think that the staff would ve would a little more compassionate. Staff have been nothing but rude, with the exception of one nurse who was very helpful. Nonetheless, I do not recommend going to this hospital.

Frank Tan

Did my COVID assessment here. No result for a week. I had to change my flight! I tried to ask someone. I called and received feedback from robot voice. I asked staff on site and was told everything is online. Staffs were nice but unorganized. Anyway, don't come here.

Javele Balagur

We were at Mackenzie health this morning volunteers were very helpful and warm, doctor’s secretary was amazing so thorough and helpful, and the doctor Hussein really nice and patience .All in all really an amazing morning.

I had to get a covid test so I called and I’ve waited for one hour and it hung up automatically! So, I had to call again and wait for another 3 hours to book an appointment. When I finally talked to her, firstly she wasn’t nice and secondly she gave me an appointment for Saturday 9:10 AM and I’m absolutely sure of that as I asked her 3 times to confirm like Sat 9:10 AM, right? And she confirmed!! I went there and it was closed!!! I had to wait 1 hour in the cold for them to open! When they opened, I told them what happened and gave my information and they told me that my appointment is at 10:50 AM!! I asked them but how?! There is a lot of difference in pronunciation between 9:10 and 10:50 and I’m really sure as I mentioned I asked her 3 times! Anyway, thankfully they checked me in and did my test and I thank them. In my opinion, due to the limited test centres, they have to have more hours for testing and more people to answer the calls for booking!! One thing to also add, when I was checking in, I saw that a dark toned overweight lady that was a receptionist was SCREAMING on a poor lady patient that wasn’t understanding her properly. She was asking the lady ‘who did you book your appointment with?’ And she screamed at her asking 3 times! And I could tell by the lady face that she wasn’t understanding and I felt really bad for her. I mean the question is also a bit weird, right? Also, to be that aggressive during your first hour shift isn’t reasonable. So, to sum up, this hospital needs to have more professional and nice behaving staff especially for test centre departments. I’m thankful and know it may not be an easy job, but it’s not fair for us, people, to be behaved like that neither!

Mirette Makin

This hospital does not even deserve 1 star. The emergency in this hospital is absolutely terrible, very disorganized, cold and understaffed. We spent 5 hours before the doctor even saw us and the nurses were more interested in having a birthday party in the recess room rather than doing their jobs. Anytime I had a question they never had any straight answers. I had to remind the nurse that the doctor ordered an IV for my mom because they didn’t bother to check for an entire hour. I definitely will never come back to this hospital again.

Moiz Biviji

My father was referred to a team of specialist doctors that operate out of Mackenzie health and it was the best experience we had in terms of quality of care and efficiency of process. The entire sign in process was seamless and directions on the slip of paper to find / locate our room in the hospital very easy which can be quite unnerving in a big place. The volunteers were awesome. We have had previous experience at Brampton Civic and Trillium and Credit Valley and they don't come close.

Jeremy Lichtman

Want to express my gratitude to the doctors and staff for looking after my son over the past 24 hours. Thank you. He's doing a lot better now.

P. M

Excellent. In and out. No issues. Thank you guys.

Ann

Had to come to the ER after getting my 1st covid dose at Cortellucci. Nurses are short staffed unfortunately. Most are tired and rude. Waited over 6h when I could have went home and regained some much needed energy after getting vaccinated. First and last time at this hospital.

Yousef Zohiry

I went to this hospital to treat a hairline fracture in my thumb a few days ago, and I was surprised by the great quality of the staff. Although it was fairly busy, it was clear that the nurses and doctors were doing their best to accommodate people. They were also very caring and professional.

Mark P

Great automated phone system. I said "Surgery" and was then asked if I said "Security". I am Toronto born and do not speak with any accent.

Farnaawz Kh

My mom has been going through pain for more than a year now. AND YET THEY HAVEN’T FIGURED OUT what is wrong, they keep doing ultrasounds and make her wait 8 hours no exaggeration with no doctor and every-time they have the same answer that they don’t know what’s wrong.

Some Dude

I have the unfortunate need to have to always come to this low-rated hospital. Almost all of my visits are Emergency related and every time I visit the ER, there's ALWAYS a shortage of Physicians. You have a Huge and Massive ER packed with lots of pain and suffering patients and it's always upsetting that there are Never enough Physicians to see and service and care for the patients' tormenting and agonizing pains. I understand that there is a system of "Priority" and that patients with for example "knife or bullet wounds" are prioritized over patients with for example "extreme body pains". However, when the Patient/Physician ratio is so vastly far apart and on top of that, many of the staff members are very cold, callous and uncaring, it is really sad and upsetting.

Andrei

My grandmother passed away at Mackenzie Health and my wife visited their ER twice this year due to a broken toe and then a broken right foot. In all 3 cases there's nothing major to complain about. The ER tries to triage people as fast as they can, but you may end up spending anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours depending on how many people they have there. When speaking about long-term care, my grandma was taken good care of at Mackenzie Health, but unfortunately there wasn't always a nurse available who spoke Russian. Given how multicultural Richmond Hill is, you'd expect elderly people in long-term care who do not speak English. As a result, the hospital should have multilingual nurses who speak Russian, Farsi, and Mandarin, in addition to English. That way, most major ethnic groups present in Richmond Hill will be accommodated.

Gaby Guerrero

I had my first surgery in this hospital. It was the best experience I've had in a hospital, from the person who registered me to the last nurse helped me they were incredible. The staff that works in this hospital is totally friendly and they try to make your stay the best they can. Many thanks to all who work at Mckenzie Hospital.

E B

Came in there last night with chest pains. It did not look too busy. The lady at the triage was very rude and snappy. They took my blood work and did another test. While the test was being done, one of the nurses was sitting on a table chatting with her co workers. Anyways I waited for several hours in the waiting area. Nobody came to update me on anything. As for the nurses there, your job is to help people whereas from what I saw last night you treat them like garbage.

Kak Yoin

Gotta be the worst hospital I have ever been to. Paramedics and doctors that work there wrongly diagnosed me by a longshot where a simple google search would prove otherwise. Disgusted with the staff and the fact these people are considered medical professionals. Avoid at all costs.

hc snoopy

Had both my kids here and the mat birth ward & dept are great. Both times I was lucky to catch my OB on call so he took good care of me both times. And lucky that both times we were able to get a private room. Docs here are amazing (epidural) and the team is very caring. Parking gets full easily but my new family and I have been taken care of both visits. My cousin also came here for both her deliveries as well.

Hedi Aghlara

I was admitted to the hospital through ER for COVID-19/ Bacterial Pneumonia. The services that I receive from the COVID ICU team was great. All of the staffs were amazingly caring, so sweet & brave. working 12 hour shifts daily. Putting their own life in danger to save others. Totally changed my perspective on this hospital. God Bless them all. Appreciate every one of them. Wish the all the best and STAY SAFE. ????????????????????????

Leeza Mesrop

I visited the urgent care clinic for covid testing. I had booked an appointment and here was little to no wait time. I had a wonderful experience with nurse Henny. She was extremely kind and made my sister and I have a good laugh. She truly made my day! Thank you Nurse Henny for always carrying a beautiful smile in these hard times. Also, Dr. Ahmed was kind and great too. Thank you guys for all your time and service. I greatly appreciate it!

Paul Walters

This hospital is totally mismanaged. I took my 65 year old father to an emergency room when he fell down on the icy porch and broke his hand. It was a mid day on Thu and we spent 6.5 hours before he has been seen by a doctor. I can only imaging how long we would've waited if it was at night or on weekend... I heard rumours about how bad this hospital is but never experienced it firsthand. With ridiculous amounts of money we spent on healthcare in our taxes, it is unacceptable that even in emergency situations we cannot get proper services! I have family in Germany and their healthcare is way better than ours. The difference is that they don't have 10 bureaucrats per one doctor!

Yara Durzi

This hospital offers very very bad service, my grandpa is in the hospital at this time. The "staff" does not care about him, when they give him food he can't eat by himself, so they don't help him eat. Instead of helping him they neglect him and don't help him at all. They also, give us wrong information about his heath and we can do nothing to help him.

Fatima Sajan

Mackenzie Health Hospital is a great place to rely on when you or your family is in need of medical care. I recently delivered my baby boy at Mackenzie Health, and I had a positive experience. The doctors and nurses were professional and supportive, and helped keep me calm and comfortable throughout my 24 hours of delivery. I stayed in hospital for 2 days post partum, and had an opportunity to interact with more staff. Having worked in a hospital setting for 3 years, I could tell that the staff morale was a very positive one at Mackenzie Health, and that must be attributed to the great leadership they have. I chose to have my baby boy delivered at Mackenzie Health, because 30 years earlier, I was born at the same hospital, then known as York Central Hospital. My mother assured me she also had a positive experience then, and we feel grateful for the level of care we both received. Thank you Mackenzie Health for your professional care and compassion!

Kathleen Munroe

4.5 hours for an x ray for my dislocated shoulder... and to make it even worse the doctor saw me for 20 seconds and didn’t even tell me any useful information on the healing process of my shoulder. i later found out from my physiotherapist that i tore ligaments :/ not impressed. waste of my time

Nella Di Blasi

I had an excellent experience during my surgery at Mackenzie Health. The nurses were kind and very well organized. They knew what they were doing and the surgeon was very professional.

Aashiqui

If I had the option of giving this hospital zero I would of give. The doctors and nurses are super racist and they don't help you at all. They don't accept any blood result from family doctor and stuff. The doctor in ER literally told me that the family doctor's word does not worth. After being in the ER for 6 hours the doctor in ER didn't check me even though I was bleeding and he kicked us out of the ER with baby. The worst hospital with the worst staff. ????????????????????????????????????

Ashe Lee

Awful birth experience. Watch out for the nurse called Jasmin Philip. Kris is very caring though.

Elham M

Too much Waiting for emergency

Maria Tavernity

Emergency staff were great. Doctors and surgeons were great. Nurses on the ICU were amazing.

James O'Connor

Not sure when they will hit the button but it sure seems like government should have back in December. The hospital is where some people get born, fixed-up, and die. Not the best place to be no matter what, but we need them. The people that choose to take care of us are superheroes even when they fail or make mistakes. To be able to deal with the day to day craziness called human behaviour is a lot to handle, yes some shouldn’t have chosen their career and have no compassion but that happens in many careers. Life is full of surprises. God bless anyone that enters a hospital. All the best.

Lindsay Ashley Daniele

I was very pleased with the birthing unit at Mackenzie Health. Throughout my stay I dealt with many different doctors and nurses and each one treated me with the best of care. Their patience and professionalism was much appreciated. I would recommend this hospital to any mother to be:)

Ray R

A BIG THUMBS DOWN TO THIS HOSPITAL. Very very disappointed at this hospital. Forget about wait it's super long at emergency 9-10 hours but to tell me that they can't find what's wrong with my dad is totally unacceptable. I believe!! not think!! that doctors at this hospital is new grads and have to Google search issues and come back to patients with same damn answers I read on google but don't know the actual cause. People dying of pain is treated as numbers and found staff very unpationate about their job and answers they give to poor patients in agony. I give this hospital a big zero.

I came from out of town and have to say that I am amazed with the service I received at Mackenzie Hospital. Right from my pre-op to my discectomy , great staff and very professional doctors. I can’t thank you all enough for all you have done for me. I was a nervous wreck before surgery and you made me feel comfortable . Thank you for all you have done.

I volunteered at Mackenzie Health Hospital for a month earlier in the summer, totalling to approximately of 20 hours of service in the Mammography department. The technicians and staff at the clinic were super kind and welcoming, and were constantly expressing their gratitude for having volunteers there. The work basically comprised of prepping items for each mammography (cutting cleaning sheets, folding the linen), and greeting the patients who came in for their appointment. In sum, repetitive, mindless work for 4 hours a week, but that was expected as a volunteer. However, my primary issue was with the volunteer department at Mackenzie Health. When I first started, the admin assistant, Stephanie, was pleasant, and flexible with paperwork. In hindsight, I think its likely because in the summer, they receive an influx of high school and university hopefuls providing the hospital with free labour work. I was asked to submit a $30 refundable deposit, and received a receipt outlining that I was borrowing hospital property (golf shirt uniform, ID badge). I realized after my month that I didn't want to continue volunteering there, because I felt that I could better spend my summer elsewhere. I think that as I was providing a service with no compensation, I deserve the right to decide whether I want to continue or terminate my position at any time. When I went to return my "hospital property," she (Stephanie) was on the phone, and just grabbed the ID badge and waved her hand at me when I tried to return the shirt. She then quickly said that my deposit would be returned in the mail. More than a month later, I received only half of the deposit back. Although it does not seem like that big of a deal, I think it really says a lot about the character and fitness of the department to be misleading and in a sense, fool their volunteers. $15 is not a lot to the hospital, but for me, it's an hour of minimum wage work, but calling it a refundable deposit while simultaneously issuing a receipt is deceitful. Additionally, when I called to inquire, the woman on the phone simply said she would let her bosses know. I hope that this can help future volunteers be fully conscious of their agreement.

Best hospital I’ve ever been to.. I really appreciated how kind and caring the nurses were to me

Stefanie S

I was having the worst anxiety of my life and had to go to the emergency department. The EMS staff, the doctor, the nurses, and the crisis worker were all very kind and professional and helped calm me down. One of the housekeeping staff noticed my parents were standing by my stretcher so he brought some chairs over so they could sit. I got a quick referral for a psychiatrist. I would be in a much worse shape if I didn't come to the hospital when I did so thank you to everyone who was involved in my visit!

Wonderful experience at Mackenzie Health fracture clinic in Richmond Hill! Special thank you to Danielle and Ravit. I brought my 12 year old daughter to have her casted for a crack in her wrist. From beginning to end the staff at the fracture clinic treated us in a very professional and compassionate manner. A special thank you to Ravit and Danielle for helping us through the entire process of this painful emotional experience. We will always remember your professionalism and compassion.

Praise be hospital Goddess Kay.

Sad but true, worst hospital ever. We been brought to this hospital by ambulance. Wait time to see a doctor was around 3 hours but it took the hospital staff 2 minutes to stick me with the ambulance bill. Triage is unprofessional, staff kept saying that they will call the name. Turned out all the paperwork was not even in the line up and just was down on the side of the other table. Took 3 attempts to get it going. Staff is stressed and overworked and it shows through out the hospital. Doctor took less then 5 min to do an assessment after collision. No suggestions, no follow up, no good bye. Its a shame to see so much money being poured in by sponsors and government and nothing being done. P.S. Unless you borderline dying, stay away or choose another hospital.

Have always been impressed with the service and care at this hospital. They have a real balancing act to perform with all the multiple needs and patient emergencies. And they do it well given the daily challenges and limited resources they have. Well done. Thank you for all your service over the years!

Hello, I want to start by saying I realize we are in extraordinary times and they call for extreme and extraordinary measures. However, having said that, I had to bring my 81 year old father to emergency because he fell and had a bad (bleeding) head injury. The emergency room staff took him in and made me wait outside the hospital in my car. My father is now in the hospital with no hearing aid, no cell phone, a possible confusion, and already had a pre-existing issue with memory loss. What on earth are you people thinking ? I wasn’t expecting my entire family would be permitted into the hospital, but there should be exceptions for extreme circumstances, that would allow someone to accompany the elderly when needed. I can only imagine what my father is going through. He’s in pain, certainly confused, and no doubt concerned with why no one is there. My interactions with the staff tell me that they aren’t going to be very warm and welcoming when my father asks for information or even help for that matter. Honestly, I’m am disgusted and appalled with how the elderly are treated in this country. I don’t understand why NO ONE seems to realize that they will some day be elderly too!!!! If this was your father, would you be ok with this situation ? I suspect not !!!!

My dad's currently in Mackenzie health as he suffered a minor heart attack. The nurses have been very neglectful, his procedures have been cancelled multiple times. The called him a "ticking time bomb" yet they can delay surgeries for him. There is a covid outbreak in his unit, no new masks given- he's been in the same one for two days as he never gets his new ones (he's not allowed to use his own), and the nurses leave them in unsanitary situations. I'm disgusted. Not only is he physically ill, you are mentally hurting him even more now

Mehdi Noormohammadi

Dear Nurses, Physicians and support staff Thanks for everything You guys are understaffed and corona is additional trouble but you are still amazing in this horrible times.

My dad died at this hospital in January 2017. They had the worst patient care you can imagine. He had terminal cancer and was treated so badly. One morning, we found him choking on some egg yolk. A nurse had shoved the egg in his mouth but it was too dry for him to swallow. We had to rush to get him some warm water to help the food go down. He was also moved from ER to the hallway due to over-crowding. Then he was finally moved to a room that he had to share with an ignorant, racist man. The man swore loudly at us for taking up too much room, for making too much noise, and for being Asian. He made profane comments when the priest came to pray with us during my father's last hours. When my father passed away, the man said that he hoped my father would go to hell for having rotten children like us. The nurses and doctors did nothing to protect us. I felt so violated during such a vulnerable time.

Wasn’t sure what to expect. My son had day surgery. We arrived and it was busy. We were seen right away. We had communications with 4 different staff members, one of them being the anaesthesiologist. They were ALL helpful, professional …

Carmen Newman

A noticeably positive change in the ER was evident compared to previous visits to the ER. Very efficient and helpful staff made the visit less stressful. The doctor showed care and concern to my mother and provided valuable information to her, he even made it a point to expedite further tests that were originally set for a month from now and instead those tests will be made within days. Keep up the good work!

Great ED for what it is. WAIT TIMES: You have to understand they basically see the most # of patients in the GTA, and that the population has outgrown the facility, hence the opening of the new hospital soon. For that reason I can't complain about wait times because I'm aware of this, as everyone should be before they complain. THIS IS A HOSPITAL NOT A WALK IN CLINIC. Don't take up space for your cold that just appeared this morning. STAFF: Drs, nurses, and receptionists in the ED are very nice as long as you are. They are human and deal with some pretty outrageous people so do what you can to be polite, I promise you they will only treat you the same way. Many of them are also highly educated in their field and some specific niches. A quick google search of their names will show you that. The reassessment/discharge process can be confusing, I had a question for the Dr but it took a while to get a hold of him. My only negative would be that they don't treat chronic disease too well. My father had really bad shoulder pain to the point where he could not sleep or move, that kept getting worse everyday. After having his family Dr. not do anything, he went to the ED. They told him to do Physio and sent him home. Eventually after going to the family Dr. for 6 months, he finally wrote him an MRI, turns out he had 2 tears and some cysts in his shoulder. The ED should have sent him for an MRI. OVERALL: Great facility, with really good ED staff, has seen so many improvements in the past 5 years, and hoping to see more.

Good Times

I have to share my experience. Brought in my mom yesterday. Although the wait was long - the staff is absolutely amazing! They go out of their way to accommodate you. The doctor, the nurses, even the security - everybody - seem to do their best to understand and help you! True, the wait is long, but what can you do - too many sick people, too little money :o). A BIG thank you to the personnel!!!

Hamilton Verona Everet

I really enjoyed my meals here. Roasted potatoes, honey garlic chicken breast, jerk chicken, carrot cake were excellent. It is the best I’ve ever eaten. I ate everything and felt like being in a hotel. Thank you so much for delicious meals. God bless always.

Maryanne Bonfigli

I was hospitalized for 8 days in February, and my good experience began in Emergency where the kindest volunteer saw I was having difficulty with my balance and offered to empty and rinse my cup so I wouldn't have to walk far. The extraordinary staff were kind and caring during my entire stay, and as I became more ambulatory, I would walk to the lobby where I further noticed and experienced the attentiveness of the volunteers. Thanks to all at Mackenzie Health, from the Emergency Dept. to the Stroke Unit, to the amazing and patient MRI department, and of course the volunteers!

Mindy Mindy

I rarely write review but it's a must in order to express thankfulness to chemo team especially the clinic head doctor, Dr. Ng. All doctors, nurses, pharmacists and secretaries are so professional, friendly, helpful and caring. Their tremendous support do mean lots to every patient in chemo clinic, words can't say! The only concern is, clinic is lacking of space to accommodate the increasing patients in both waiting and treatment areas. Some doctors can only meet their patients in the treatment rooms rather than in their office, which obviously delay the treatment for patients. Expansion of chemo clinic is definitely encouraging to meet future needs.

Natalia Toulouevskaia

I gave a birth to my first child - baby girl. Doctors, nurses and facilities are top notch. The doctors are very knowledgeable and caring. Nurses are very professional and educated us on each and every step taking care of my baby within all 4 days we spent there. Will definitely have our second child in there.

Carol Mak

We went to emergency this weekend for tumble on the stairs (no open wounds), and were were treated within three hours. From triage, reception, technicians to the doctors, everything moved swiftly and efficiently. The staff were all very gentle, patient and compassionate. A year ago, we went to emergency. They were was fast and honest. Both my niece and nephew were born there without any issues. The nurses were experienced and caring.

Herb Alexander

I have just returned from having surgery at Mackenzie Health. For the purpose of identifying staff with whom I interacted, my "home room"was located in D4 Purple All of the staff with whom I interacted were without exception very effective communicators. This greatly reduced my anxiety. On a scale of 1-10, I would unhesitatingly rate this group of dedicated individuals worthy of an 11. (and anyone who complains about hospital food has not eaten at M.H.)

Wendy Breuls

Mackenzie Health is a top-notch medical facility. From the surgeons to the volunteers, you are treated warmly and with respect. The fracture clinic, in particular, runs like a well-oiled machine. All the staff there are incredible.

Alex

Got admitted with severe acute lower back pain. Basically couldn't walk or move my upper body independently. Ambulance staff was great the guy in admission was great theu helped wheel me around cause I couldn't do it myself. But the older black nurse in emergency is definitely in the wrong line of work. Came out and told me to follow her, I told her I can't walk independently and don't have good use of my upper body and she turned around and with the biggest attitude told me to figure it out because SHE WILL NOT PUSH ME in the wheel chair. I never felt so alone and helpless in my life and they don't allow visitors because of covid. I am amazed that this nurse actually has a job as she is the most useless waste of space and salary.

izabela ghi

the worst hospital ever! waiting for 3.5 hour to get a covid test! the electronic system went down and now they do everything with pen and paper! total chaos! if could give them 0 stars, I would !

Joan Fraiser

This hospital is very unprofessional went with my husband to visit my daughter and witnessed two uniformed employees one African American male and the female I am unsure of her ethnicity, kissing in plain site, personal relationships need to be kept outside the workplace especially with covid going on. The hospital also gave me and my husband a very hard time would not recommend at all

Daffodil King

Today I had A procedure at the Hospital. I took blood test and Covid-19 test last week . Took time off from work and Hire someone to take me there. Got there and checked in then went to Day Surgery, sat there for 15 mins. An old nurse came out, I saw her looked and me then went to another room. Came back took me by the side to explain the Dr have other important surgery and can't do mines today as he is running behind. I ask her twice what should I do she said you can go home. She saw my concern then said, "well let me double check in less than lightly he will take you today". I said again, What should I do? She said, "go home and call the office, we were trying to call you. I had no call on my phone from the hosipal. I said, I got here 2 hours before as directed by the hospital they called me last night. She said "oh we call everyone". She then went to confirm if the Dr indeed canceled me as an excuse. She then came back and said, "oh yes am right you not doing the surgery today give me you paper work". Took and asked if I want some water. Such unprofessional!! First!! Do they know how inconvenient this is? I went to Richmond Hill 2 times last week and Hire someone to take me today. She asked me if I drive. How can I drive myself when I am supposed to do surgery? ..... I took three days off work for this. To Top it off the DOCTOR did not even come and spoke with me. I heard bad review for this place and never thought I will right one. I went there before and spend 5 days there but just thought this is how things are in the Hospital as it was my first experience staying at a Hospital since I had my son many years ago. Now I know the service is very Dull. When I went to do the blood work they give me someone else hand band. I well downstairs to get blood while am In Line I realized it not my name and DOB... had to ran up back upstairs to let the staff know. I am very disappointed. Before the surgery they call to get my insurance... why have me go through all this if you have to cancelled me on the day off when I am there. I was so embarrassed... I had to take the bus back to North York as my ride had other plans. Today was a very unpleasant experience.????????

Benn MacDonald

Delivered our baby girl here. Dirty, rude staff, and they didn't act very professional. Baby was not measured after birth, and they missed a lot of things that should have been basic in making this event special. Unfortunately it was memorable for all the wrong reasons

So I came into the hospital with the worst pain ive ever experienced, running to the emergency department only to be thrown from one area to another with no compassion at all. Ive read quite a few of the negative reviews from this hospital but id like to mention that there are some good people there that do care about you. Ive spent three days going through emerge loosing hope until I found myself in the endoscopy department where I FINALLY spoke to someone by the name of Rose who actually took the time to listen to my concerns and although she said there was no room to accommodate me she still went out of her way to check with her manager to see if theres something they could do for me. And sure enough that department helped me out, they scheduled me an appointment that they were so kind enough to fit me in last minute, and Sherry in the urology knew that I was in so much pain that she dealt with me immediately, I didn't feel like I was being put on the back burner. This actually gave me faith that there are people out there who are willing to go out of their way just to help you out, with full compassion and who want to understand what patience like us go through. That is what you call an amazing team, that floor right there!

Shahin Misa

Suzan is nurse in the birthing unit. She is very very Rude. My wife gave birth to first child in this Hospital. Suzan made it vey hard for us. Other staff were all really helpful.

PM Professionals

Spent a day with my son in emerge having a foreign object in his ear. Doctor was unable to pull it as my son was freaking out. The doctor got pretty upset. Sedation, which we have been waiting for 3 hours for, didn't help and additional attempt to pull the thing out didn't succeed. Then the doctor left telling me there is no ENT on shift. They held me there for 2 more hours and then finally told me that I will have to go to another office in 3 days. Later in the evening, it turned out that instead of ENT, they booked us with Ophthalmologist who called us tonight apologizing. Never go to Mackenzie!

Harry Behr

My husband has been extremely happy with the food and service at Mackenzie Health! Someone always comes to ask what he would like for his meals and check to see how it was. We were so happy when he was offered foods that would help his recovery. Thanks you for making the positive experience! The food is delicious! Service is top notch.

Joanne Clement

Had baby last week; staff were great in all departments from doctors and nurses to lab techs and those who deliver meals. Only 1 thing missing that is pretty important and that was having a lactation consultant visit to ensure breastfeeding is done properly.

user 2020

ER nurses are very rude and careless. They are mot willing to help patients. All though they work hard, they dont realize that each patient is a different human being. On the other hand the doctors are amazing but unfortunately we have wait for so so long for their 5 - 8 min diagnosis.

Jim Jenkinson

No one looks forward to having a Colonoscopy, and today after a couple of days of prep (nasty, nasty prep) I arrived at Mackenzie Health this morning for the procedure. Every single member of the staff; reception, nurses (especially the one who magically put in the painless I.V.) the volunteer and Dr. S. Jackson and procedural staff were excellent. It was so refreshing seeing a talented team of professionals who really care about their patients. After the procedure, Dr. Jackson spoke with me in straight forward, understandable English informing me of the results and patiently answered all of my questions. I am not particularly looking forward to my next Colonoscopy in five years but it will be at Mackenzie. Thank you everyone.

Everyone here was so great. I am so thankful to all the nurses and doctors that assisted my dad this week. I didn't get everyone's names but the last nurse that I met, Fatima (apologies if the spelling is incorrect) reassured me that I could go home and leave my dad in their good care. She even gave me the hospitals phone number and told me I can call whenever I wanted. She was fantastic. Also the nurses in the emergency triage were great. They were so quick and friendly! We have never been to the emergency room before and were a bit scared to be there to be honest but everyone made this experience a positive one. Thanks for saving my dad's life. Really glad my parents live near this exceptional hospital.

Marco Ciasca

My daughters (twins) have been followed by the Neonatal follow clinic at Mackenzie Health since their birth in September 2014. As well my wife was followed by the Maternal Fetal Clinic during her pregnancy with them. We have always had a positive experience at Mackenzie Health. Staff are always courteous and helpful. The level of care is always top notch. We should all be supportive of helping build the new Mackenzie Vaughan so they can continue to provide us with world class care in our community.

Aline Sykes

Yesterday I had a Bone Marrow Biopsy and must admit I was very nervous. My doctor and nurse were wonderful. They explained everything well and during the procedure put me totally at ease. I just wanted to say thanks.

Victoria

Personally, Ive had a wonderful experience at this hospital! I had to go to minor treatment and I was out in 1 hour. Dr. Thomas Sull is very compassionate and did something in 1 minute that another doctor/nurse was supposed to do which took 3 visits. There wasnt much of a wait in ER but I may got lucky.

Sogol Azadi

Horrible hospital. Good place to die.

Eugene Abramov

I visited the ER for a second time this year to have my health concerns checked out. The quality of service I received was top notch - fast and thorough. All staff where well trained and well organized. I have lived in the area for over 20 years and this hospital has really transformed itself from mediocre to being top notch. My prior ER visit in June of 2020 for an emergency procedure was equally good. Please keep up the good work! Thank you to all the front-line medical staff in these trying times

Margarita Bern

Quick intake. The ultrasound test was done within 1 hour and the results were available within an hour. Pretty quick turnaround time and a very professional service.

Fatemeh Jafarpour

During my stay in the hospital the second day I was harrassed by a nurse. After 10 minutes of the incident the said nurse's manager came to me and without asking about what happened she accused me of being rude to all nurse and said she would make a case against me. She left and later another manager came and he asked what happened. I explained him . He felt bad and said what he could do to fix the problem. I told him that patients should not be left in care of such cruel person. After he left the higher manager came and apologized. I am sure the first nurse and the one who was making a case against me had hurt other patients. The Surgeon was very good and the surgery was done good. I hope the management of hospital investigates this matter carefully to prevent nurses from abusing the patients.

Celia Baraoidan

We went to the eemerge& it took us 12 hours for the surgeon to come....its the worst hospital experienced i ever had????

Sherly Teegs

Can be hit or miss. Depending on "crew" that is working that day. I find nurses are good but over worked (as they are everywhere in Ontario). Doctors range from incompetent to down right excellent. Typical Ontario 3rd. world hospital. No better, no worse than other hospitals. Can't imagine how bad hospitals will get with the Ford cuts. Can't really blame the staff though.

Maya Blaedel

Good place to be tested for covid. Faced almost no wait time (stark difference from the horror stories you often hear on the news). If you need to get tested, Mackenzie Health is a good spot to visit.

Brad Giroux

The staff were very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. The facility was clean, but the chairs in the waiting area were not comfortable. The only major issue though was the preregistration which registered patients for our follow up appointment the next day, not our surgical appointment, then the following day none of us were in the system to preregister for our follow up appointment. Parking for 1 hour was also very expensive.

Julius Laureta

My friend was hospitalized in this hospital and went to emergency. After triage, he was attended by such an amazing team of doctors and nurses. The hospital is very clean and organized and you dont feel like you are in a hospital as you cannot even smell any pungent odor. All in all this hospital is one of the best in GTA. Thank you MRHH.

Jasmine T

9:20 am saturday 5th june 2021 who kept this guy at the front desk of mackenize C should know, this guy does not know customer service or how to talk to customer...teach him some manners and verbal way of talking to others !

Ivy Luk

My experience here was so PAINFUL and HORRIFYING that I wished they killed me instead. The injection that should have numbed the pain did not hit the right spot or was not given enough time to take effect. I was crying and telling them that I could still feel the pain but they wouldn’t listen and continued with the process. I felt EVERYTHING as they cut into me. Go to this hospital if you want to risk having a psychopathic doctor operate on you!

Kian S

I had a very positive experience in the ER not long ago, in all my visits to the hospital in the past I always came home feeling much better. Sometimes the process takes a bit of time but it’s totally understandable. I would like to thank all the hospital staff or volunteers for their hark and diligent work, it must be very difficult especially during this pandemic.

beh shrz

It is not like a hospital, they make sure you will die or become disable. Please do not take your loved one or yourself there. And it seems there is no government or higher authority monitors or audits them for low quality of care.

Sandra Millar

I am now doing dialysis(kidneys) from home every night for 9 hours. Thank you, to the dialysis department, in particular Margaret my PD Nurse & Dr. Dunn my Kidney Doctor for being there every step of the way.

Phoebe Wong

My grandma was put into this hospital due to a severe stroke a couple months ago. Staff were very rude and weren't cooperating, except for one nurse that helped my family. I recall her name was Irene or Iris or something along the lines of that. She had black hair and I think she was Asian? But other nurses that took care of my grandma were very rude. When my grandma passed away, they were also very rude and rushing us to take her body.

Teresa Forbes

I feel so lucky to be in the care of the "chemo team" at Mackenzie Health. The nurses, each and every one of them, are very knowledgeable, kind, efficient. The support staff is the best I have ever encountered. From the moment one enters the doors of the unit, the caring environment is obvious. The wait time is minimal. Usually everything runs on time. Dr. Passaperuma is an absolute gem: a very caring, honest, knowledgeable and truthful oncologist. Thank you to each and every individual that works in this unit of the hospital, and thanks to all for helping to make my time spent receiving chemo treatment to be a positive experience.

Perry Wang

Thank you so much for the Doctor's quick, clean and professional treatment on my thumb's large cut. Also got tetanus vaccine as well. Feel very grateful!

John MacDonald

My wife broke her arm in a car accident, had a splint applied in the ER and was told to go to Fracture Clinic the next Thursday. While at the Clinic it was determined she required an operation to properly re-set the broken bone pieces. They initially set that evening foor the operation, but due to overload said go home and they would call in the morning, no food or drink after midnight. The next day we had to call the hospital midafternoon since the hospital never called. They said to wait until next day, no food, drink after midnight. Again, no call, so we called once again. They finally said to come in that day, and the operation took place FINALLY. It was not the waiting, but rather the lack of proper communication as they said they would and the lack of information. We once again attended the fracture clinic the following week, and we noticed that the clinic is woefully under-staffed - admin., nursing, doctors, support staff (cast appliers). ONLY 2 Doctors, one of which was also on call to Emergency. Much better staff scheduling is required in the whole hospital. Fire some of the useless Staff (CEO< President, VP's Directors) and put the funds to the proper staff (Nurses, Doctors, support staff, etc) that deal directly with the public.

Ivory Anderson

If i could get this a no star i would. My girlfriend & i called for some directory and help and the lady that picked up basically brushed us off and had the worst attitude ever. People are calling for help and with the staff you guys have working there, we might as well suffer. No help whatsoever.

Tomer Berman

This is the worst place in the world. I have not been to many emergency rooms to compare but this was awful. Clearly they're understaffed waiting around for 5 hours with 6 month old with a 104 degree fever. …

Sadia Khan

This place is the devil. My grandmother spent 2.5 months here whos dying of cancer. The nurse in charge of the staff names carol is by far the rudest person. She was not just miserable and rude to me but to my whole family. She has a little group of nurses that are following in her foot steps. The horrific things they did to a dying women fall under the ground of elderly abuse. She was neglected, starved and tortured, taunted by certain nurses and humiliated. God only knows how many other elderly people have been abused. My family and i are taking this matter further legally. Please make sure ur elders are watched when being in this evil place.

Aria Khosravi

Horrible ER department that does not care about patients. Dr. Paul Perlon is a disgrace to the medical practice. Only cares about sending people home so they don't have to deal with you. Be ashamed of yourselves, especially Dr Perlon. Go to North York General instead, much better hospital with doctors and nurses who care and treat patients with compassion and empathy.

Mary Thorne

Just wanted to thank the amazing staff at Mackenzie Health for their exceptional care during my time there. From the labour and delivery team, to the staff on the postpartum unit and the lactation consultant, everyone was professional, kind and wanted the best for me and baby. They provided me great information to assist in determining the path of treatment for baby as she was kept for 4 days due to being underweight and jaundiced. Labour & Delivery Staff certainly made an impression when one of them even visited me in the postpartum unit to ensure my transition was smooth and to follow up on appointments she made for me with the lactation consultant. Would 100% recommend Mackenzie Health.

Neil Getz

Thank You to Dr Bui and all the Staff at Macenzie.Everyone goes ABOVE and BEYOND to make you feel comfortable.

Margaret Roberts

I was in good hands at all times. Impressively quick and efficient processes for check-in, and very little waiting (even though I came in early). Staff at registration (Hi Maggie!), nursing staff, and doctors were friendly, professional and thorough. Being able to follow my medical history online through mychart.mackenziehealth.ca is appreciated! Thanks for being my partners in ensuring my good health.

Kevin Shah

Good and kind but very slow in answer and make ready the results

John Martin

Been dealing with the same abdominal issue for three years and all they can do here is give you more pills. Their head of surgery picks and chooses who he will work on. So if you're a smoker go somewhere else as they won't help you here.

Pierina Bosco

My Husband was recently hospitalized at Mackenzie Health after an emergency surgical procedure. We had a great experience starting with our visit to the emergency department and then on to the OR., front line staff, Dr. Ortega and all the rest of the support team were truly amazing. We were treated promptly and with respect by all.

Liz T

Went to this hospital for preterm labour that ended in a cesarean. What a phenomenal team of workers!! We were absolutely blown away by the support and care we received. They worked beside my midwife team with ease and cooperation. We met a lot of people, from many fields, and each person made a difference. Complete strangers helping me physically, mentally and emotionally in a lot of uncomfortable situations. I was beyond thankful. Each Nurse and Doctor made me feel like I had family beside me. The encouraging words, a kind touch or a laugh went a long way. They took the time to listen, explain and make me as comfortable as possible. Even the food was good which made the experience even better. Yes this hospital is old and not everything worked but we just went with it and tried to be understanding. The nurses did their best to help with certain important fixes and handled it all extremely well by staying positive and smiling. Dr. Gryn and his team in the NICU were amazing. Nurses like Melissa and Nilo really took the time to answer my questions and really care about the health and well being of our daughter. Regular communication and updates took place between us even after we left the hospital. Huge thank you to everyone that impacted the birth of our beautiful daughter.

Stephen E.

I took my elderly mother in for an exploratory procedure. It started on time, the staff were professional and friendly and answered all questions. The status update board was helpful, allowing visitors to track the process.

Antonietta

We had the amazing opportunity of welcoming our First Grandchild this past week. Our daughter had an amazing experience! The awesome staff in the Labour and Delivery department and in the Mom and Baby floor did an exceptional job taking care of our daughter, son-in-law and of course, our Little Newborn bundle of joy! The whole Team worked extremely well with our daughter's Midwife Team!! Thank you to everyone!!You should all be proud!! Tony &Antonietta Marziliano

Whatever you do, if you or your loved one need care do not take them here! In early labour 37 weeks pregnant, a person named Dr Tse who at first didn’t want to say her name and a Russian lady in labour and delivery refused to see me because I said I wanted to ultimately deliver at North York general, she went on to say I’d have to wait a long time to be seen if I stayed there, needless to say STAY AWAY

Terrific staff and well run hospital no hesitation in recommending this hospital

I had surgery at Mackenzie Health in November. From the pre-surgery appointments to finding parking the day of to entering the facility and the getting registered to the surgery up to post surgery the care was amazing. The doctors, nurses, technicians to the volunteers were top notch. All were caring, informative, professional and all together a strong organized team of people. I highly recommend Mackenzie Health and their superb staff.

Irina D

Besides 5 hours waiting time, I was given a wristband with someone else’s name, which was luckily caught by a nurse before any test were done, then the next day I got a call asking why I was late for an appointment I was not supposed to have and then I got a prescription for antibiotics for infection I didn’t have. Now I’m sitting in the waiting area waiting for the right appointment, but because nobody told me I was supposed to register in a special registration area, it looks like I missed an appointment (I was sitting in a waiting area with no one else). Now the registration directed me to the waiting room full of people. So besides not caring about patients the hospital doesn’t even care about using the resources and staff productively. This level of care is below all standards!!!

April Liebling

My daughter is there right now with my grandson....he had a fever of 106 F and nobody would even look at him until they were able to get $700 to the hospital, and they are still waiting! My beautiful grandson is two years old! What kind of medical care is this!!! All I can do is pray right now that this place will take better care when he is finally seen by a doctor.

I am very disappointed with this hospital and I highly recommend no one to go there. It has been 9 days and I still have not received my covid test results. I tried calling the hospital three times and each time the call was never answered and it automatically hung up on their end. One time I called and the answering machine said the department is closed because it closes at 5 pm and I called at 3 pm... (clearly it wasn't closed so why isn't anyone answering?) This hospital is extremely unorganized and they do not care about their patients. When I went in to get tested, the staff looked at my family up and down and did not speak two words. It really showed us how much they did not care to be there or care to help. I STRONGLY recommend for everyone to avoid this hospital!!

T Ina

I have visited this hospital several times for myself and family and at best I would say it is mediocre. I would go back for something straight forward but anything complicated I would definitely get another opinion. The staff don't know how to communicate well and the nursing care is really lacking. I question the quality of care every time but there's no other place nearby unfortunately.

Labor and delivery is not clean or updated. We paid for a private room. It was not clean. Looked like a dirty jail room. In a private room there is no shower the washroom is small. Walls of the room looked disgusting. The baby glass crib was not clean. Very disappointing

Saqlain Banatwala

Semi- private room has no BED for the 2nd person. only 1 bed for the patient. If the partner is staying overnight he/she has to sleep on the chair or NOT sleep at all. There is no place for the person to Shower which is ridiculous. Only the patient is allowed to go shower. There was no private room available at first. On the 3rd day, we were transferred to the private room. The shower was NOT working (surprise surprise). The room was much smaller than the semi private. The after care is very bad. Some nurses are rude and arrogant. On the 3rd day we were told we would be discharged but to our surprise , we were told the blood results will come the next day and hence you will have to stay 1 more night. The next day around Noon we were fed-up and when asked about the results we were told the blood results NEVER came (because it takes 48 hours for it) - we were told 24 hours. Had to stay an extra night for NO reason resulting in extra charges. Will NOT recommend this hospital due to the poor after care and no regard for the patient.

Just moved here for school and was not sure with what to expect from a new hospital environment. The emergency staff was amazing and continued to be in high spirits despite it being a very busy night. I was seen and treated quickly and could not be more thankful for their help.

ljiljana antonic

I was in emergency 10th of January and I was there for 5 hours. Considering how many tests they've done that was a good length. The organization was very good, xray and CT scan technicians were very professional, and doctor NOTARANDREA EDOARDO was great. I would give him 5+ stars. He even called me next day to explain test results. The reason I'm giving 4 stars to the clinic is because of the nurses. They weren't very pleasant and what really bothered me was that they were not wearing gloves or washed their hands between the patients and instruments.

Went to Mack Health on Thurs April 8 to get scheduled covid test for my daugher. Staff were professional, caring, safe, very well organized, and took the time to smile and made sure my daughter was ok. The whole process took less than 15 minutes, inlcudng standing in line for a few miutes at the start. Fantastic experience, keep up the great work, and of course, thx to all the front line staff.

I have had 2 experiences within a week at Mackenzie Health, both excellent. The first was with the Emergency Department. I had an injury to my leg that required an X-ray and I entered the department, was greeted in a welcoming way and was triaged, assessed by a doctor and discharged within an hour. It was speedy, thorough and pleasant. A week later I was seen in the Fracture Clinic and couldn't be more pleased. It was organized, efficient, and thorough. I was seen by a doctor, occupational therapist and physiotherapist who were very thorough and informative. This whole process also was completed within an hour approximately. The front staff were helpful and friendly. Thank you for making this experience smooth and welcoming.

Leah G

The doctors and nurses were so helpful, friendly and efficient. This review is not about the care I received from doctors or nurses as they were all wonderful - however the covid protocols seem to be non existent. Starting with the security in the emergency (one guard had their mask around their chin the entire time I was there - getting up and opening the doors and talking to others ) to half the patients not wearing masks correctly- to being crammed into a waiting room with 0 social distancing and sanitizing being done. Chairs were so close and they were literally all full. I was surprised they let emergency room patients have family or friends waiting with them - that is just creating more crowding! Is this hospital unaware of the rampant variant right now? I feel extremely uneasy about having been in this environment. I know everyone is overwhelmed with Covid, and I know everyone working at the hospital is just doing their best - but a hospital is not somewhere you should feel so unsafe.

BA ASH

Unorganized center. Be advise when you call them for Covid-19 assessment. Operator answer they are open until 9:30pm, same as it shows in their website, but they do not accept patient after 7:00 or 7:30 pm. I called in front of door to operator again and it was saying same answer to me that they accept for test until 9:00pm and security also heard it, but they were not accepting any body for test.

My husband is spinal cord injured from an accident 27 years ago that left him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Do to some issues that come from this, we have had to rely on the care of the emergency and ICU staff and have had excellent care over the years. Thank you and please continue to support our local hospital so we all can keep receiving great care from competent caring doctors, nurses and all the staff that keeps this hospital one that we can be proud of.

Artin Emam

hey guys did you know i was born there in 2012

Mahdi Fallah

I went to the hospital with my kid who was in a lot of pain. We had to wait for 3 hours for the doctor to come. He was in charge of three wards. When he came to my son he discharged him after examining. Now i am getting a mail telling me that i have to pay 15 dollars for a test they did after we left the hospital. They did not even called us to give us the test result

Mackenzie Health palliative care provided my mother Amina Khan with the best palliative care I could have ever expected. My mother was admitted on March 18th 2021 in an emergency case and was secured a room that she used to refer to as “a VIP room”. She loved each and every staff member from Miriam who was working when my mom passed away on April 4th to Gerard who made my mother laugh like she was a child all over again. Unfortunately I don’t remember the names of some of the other nurses who were exquisite in their care. The social worker Sandra and Dr Farah Khan went out of their way to make my mother comfortable and provided all the necessary care she needed not to mention keeping me informed and up to speed with everything that went on in my mothers days at the hospital. She passed away peacefully on the night of April 4th at 11:23 pm and I was informed in a timely manner. I was 5 min too late when she passed however my aunt was by her side and was given the necessary space and time to complete her prayers for my mother. I have delivered all 3 children at this hospital and my mother had also received chemotherapy with Dr Khanna here. I will forever be grateful for Mackenzie Health hospital and for their outstanding work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of the rest of my family and friends.

This is the second time in 3 months my elderly father was brought to emergency by ambulance. Both times he is left on a stretcher for over 24 hrs in an emergency hallway. This is obviously a normal expectation of our health system. There are actual numbers on the walls in the hallway so they can keep track of the patience being left in hallways. Have you ever been sick and just wanted to sleep in a dark room? Seems like a torture tactic to keep them in a crowded, bright, noisy, hallway for 24 hrs. But the staff look at us like we are unreasonable with our expectations. Of a bed to lay and some privacy during our weakest time. Patience screaming for help and because as a somewhat normal and empathic person I flag a nurse to help a stranger in need, I get caught off before I finish my sentence and told, "it's not my patient. So now the patient has soiled herself and I stand witness to her embarrassment as she makes eye contact with me. This all seems crazy, but also very normal of you work in the emergency. And the paramedics that brought him here said this was the best option. So I guess I should just accept that this is what our world class health care is. Apparently everywhere else is worst???

settimio De Simone

Well what an experience, I need to praise McKenzie Health and its staff doctors including their amazing team work. beginning with Laura Butler who managed and approving a procedure I required in record time and Sherry from Urology who performed the procedure not once but twice, she was so caring and gentle, had empathy, you can see that she cared. Doctor Samsoondar who is too humble in wanting to be mentioned, but this Doctor deserves a medal of honor for carrying, what an amazing staff and team work. I can not thank you enough. You guys are the best

There's other hospitals to go to. This place is very unprofessional

Lydia H

Had a horrible experience at the ER the other day. The nurse who came to check up on me before the doctor was incredibly rude and disrespectful. My family physician has told me to see the ER. However, the nurse yelled at me repeatedly, invalidating the symptoms I was feeling. I was in tears when the doctor finally came in. I understand that the ER is a stressful place and I appreciate all of our front line workers - but there was no need to make someone feel invalid about the pain they were in. That was absolutely necessary. Why would a reasonable person go to the hospital during the pandemic if it wasn't for a good reason?

BlakeToronto

Definitely the worst hospital anywhere... ER Staff member were so uncaring and defensive, one of them belittled me in his attempt to "correct"me. I'm going home feeling worse than when I arrived. Do yourself a favour, and stay far away from this disaster of place.

C DSouza

5 hours wait in emergency from 3 AM to 8 AM. Dr FU is one of the slowest around.

My 90 year old mother in-law had a fall this morning, (02/13/21) she was taken by ambulance, she was discharged at 7:30am and when we got home we found that the I.V. was still in her arm. Hospital told us to remove it, We were told by her PSW that if your not a doctor it could be dangerous. We ended up calling 911 again, she is not very mobile and it would be a challenge to bring her back as emergency had requested.

Christine Lee

Emergency staff were great. Doctors and surgeons were great. Nurses on the ICU were amazing. Nurses in the surgery ward - so many of them gave my family and I SO MUCH ATTITUDE and totally insensitive and disregard for my fathers needs. When needing a translator they were insensitive to his situation. And spoke to me with so much contempt. Ask them any question and they will say “I don’t know” or “why didn’t you ask the doctor before” of course with attitude as well.

Maria Powelle

Very good hospital. Great care!

Jeanette Everitt

I was at RCC for seven weeks. I received wonderful care. The nurses were responsive to my needs. For the most part, they were kind and caring. The physio therapists worked me even when I didn’t want to work out. They gave me extra attention and pushed me because they knew my capabilities. The PCAs helped me every day and they were kind and considerate. Even the cleaning staff interacted with me and I enjoyed the time they spent sterilizing my area. The only complaint that I had was the quality and taste of the food.

Индира

Thank you for the staff of Makenzie Hospital. You saved my life. I got a second chance. Im gonna try not to waste it and live healthy.

Darlene

Had surgery done last summer here at C4. The doctors and nurses were pretty supportive with my recovery, shoutout to RN Ellie for being a sweet nurse when I stayed overnight. in general I don’t like hospitals but at least I got through it. I hope everyone’s staying healthy & safe from Covid now.

Bruna Chiarelli

I visited the hospital recently with my daughter and had a wonderful experience. We went through emergency and found the process to be smooth. It was busy but we were attended to by a nurse within a few minutes of sitting. The doctor was quite pleasant although busy as it was a busy day. He ordered some tests and told us he would come back and chat with us once the results were in. The tests and the wait took just over 90 minutes which was more than acceptable. He decided after speaking with us and because of our daughters age to call in the on call pedeatrician. We saw her within the hour. She was thorough and spoke with us in a language we understood. We are now under care with a cardiologist on staff. The entire experience has been a great one and I will continue to use this hospital for all my family's health needs. May I add that I have had the opportunity to visit your Urgent Care facility on Jane Street and found the doctors and the staff there to be efficient and quick.

Lucas S

I recently visited the hospital for a hand injury which happened at work. The staff in the Emergency Department were very helpful and got me in and out in no time. Dr. Fortier eased me through the process by alleviating my anxiety and making me feel safe. He walked me through the procedure of getting stitches, which was comforting. Overall, my experience at Mackenzie Health was a positive one.

Juliana Genova

I went to the emergency Monday December 4th at 6:00am. All staff members were great. Working quickly and efficiently. I had a few tests done within a couple hours. Overall, hospital was very clean. I would like to say thank you to everyone that helped me that morning! Keep up the good work.

I had a fine experience checking into the hospital and getting my blood work done, the trouble started afterwards. When I was leaving, I was told my blood work would be send to my doctor once it was ready. The triage nurse took my doctors info when I was registering and the nurse who was my last point of contact confirmed this. I was told results take 10 days typically to come in. Fast forward 3 weeks, my doctor still doesn't have the results. I called Mackenzie health today and asked the blood clinic if the results were ready, they said the results were ready, I asked why they haven't been sent to my doctor. Mackenzie health said they didn't have my doctor's info...which I gave to them during registration with Triage and they wrote it down. I gave the lady I spoke to my doctor's info and she asked for their fax #, which was not on my doctor's site, so I said I wasn't sure what it was, but I could call and check, she said they have one on record, so they'll use that. A few hours after, I called my doctor to check if they got the blood work yet, they said they still didn't. I called Mackenzie hospital again, the lady I spoke to now says she can't locate my name in the system.... so my experience has been confusing and frustrating overall. Seems like there is some disorganization there and that communication between departments is off. I am the one who has ended up chasing them down for things they said they'd do themselves.

Cheryl Tutton

Had day surgery and the staff were extremely friendly, kind and professional right from patient registration through surgery and discharge. If you have to undergo surgery, Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital is a place that will treat you as if you are the most important person there .

Vic U

Recently my father was admitted to Mackenzie Health via emergency and then remained there for over a week, before being transferred to Southlake for a heart procedure. Now speaking to so many family members and friends I can understand the reputation and score this hospital has. First the good, overall the nursing staff was fantastic with both being empathetic and courteous. The doctors and administrative staff was the opposite. Specifically the cardiologist on duty who appears to be overworked. While he was in a rush I was surprised to hear he told my family members he did not want to share the details of my dad's state with other doctors as he had 'a lot of requests from family members to share information with someone else but didn't have time'. Of course we are able to sign into his tests thru an app and share it that way ourselves, it was still unfortunate. The admin staff's primary responsibility also appeared more to flip rooms and not want to listen to concerns for the patient. One administrator told us "the doctors do not decide who gets what kind of room, we do" yet were unfamiliar with medical conditions. In a stressful situation where a parent is sick, those experiences stick with you, and when possible I will never send my parents back there if I can help it. Of course choice is limited in emergency situations. In cases like that I urge people to take their own notes and advocate for their loved ones. This hospital primarily operates as a business and adds to stress rather than helping to relieve it.

Muslema Noori

I found it very clean, nice staff and the process were very fast.

Staff were extremely aggressive with my 90 year old grandmother. They repeatedly put her in positions that caused her pain even after we both voiced our concerns. My issue is - if they treat patients like that while others are watching how do they treat them when no one is there?? Disgraceful. Seniors deserve dignity and respect and those 2 orderlies showed none.

Sreehari Pulikodan

I visited Mackenzie Health at 11pm on 24th November with my wife who was in labor pain. The staff at ED provided a wheel chair for my wife even before starting to talk and directed us to maternity department after Covid screening. The nurse put us in triage and within minutes the doctor attended my wife. Everyone was so amazing that 6 hours of labor pain and delivery passed like a glimpse. The paediatrician and RT were there when my son was born and they patiently replied to my questions and politely explained about my sons health. The anesthesiologist was with us throughout ensuring that my wife don’t get much pain. I would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff in the hospital for getting us through what would have been a stressful time of our life. I wish all the staff and Mackenzie health all the best and please continue the great work. You have amazed me by the way you work. Thanks a lot.

Michael Skribans

The worst hospital I’ve been to in terms of wait times and rude staff. No accommodations.

Valentina Pia

Terrible service. They ask u to arrive early then keeping you for hours even if you have appointment

BARBARA CHONIN

Recently had Carpal Tunnel surgery at your day surgery clinic. Staff were friendly and helpful. Reassuring, patient and kind. Prep for surgery was efficient and organized and post surgery care was impressive Had to be there at 6am for an 8am surgery and I was home by 10am I won’t hesitate to have the other hand done here too Thank you to all the staff at Day Surgery

Ray Tsang

Amazing experience for my 1st born. All the staff were extremely helpful. Wife went through C section for 9.3 lbs boy. Baby is healthy and mommy is recovering very good. Special Thanks for Dr. Ou for the C section delivery!

Viorel Guran

Had an MRI at Mackenzie Health earlier in the year and had a great experience. The appointment was on time and the staff were very hepful. I was impressed with the modern equipment, and they sent the results promptly to my family doc. Really great all around.

diane dorn

My 94 year old mother was recently treated both in emerg and on the floor and received sterling care. Could not have asked for more. A big thanks to all the staff.

Denelda Storry

My mother was very pleased with the attention she received from the dietary team. They took the time to take care of special requests from our family due to her complicated diet. We really appreciate the time and effort. The food tastes so good that my mother is eating better now. Thank you.

Akbar Agha

Horrible experience. Chasing Doctors and nurses for days to get info about a very sick person and no one talks to you while we are not allowed to get inside .this hospital is extremely nasty and very unsafe to even walk in . Patient finally released with no proper report on the conditions and sent home with no info on what is or was wrong . This place is not to standard

R Mory

Many folks will complain about our system, the wait, the crowd, so it's truly admirable that despite all these challenges, Mackenzie Health remains so focused on the true essence of thei purpose. To take care and focus on all patients, to treat everyone with respect and to help us get better. You should all be proud of what you are accomplishing, it is clearly a patient first mindset. Well done.

Julie C

Do not sign your family members up to be residents at their long term care facilities! Why you would ask: 1. They gave my mother wrong medications 2. Fail to provide proper care for my mother when she is experiencing dematis 3. Apparently it's normal to have screws sticking out of people's body so no need to inform family members or to provide medical care other than care from nurses for this matter When you try to get a hold of someone with answers you get the run around response with NO follow up or actual answers! It's a waiting game with them if you want treatments or tests or anything done!

Roger Solp

Worst hospital I’ve ever been to, doctors mis-diagnose patients and don’t care about them, you will wait here for 6 hrs + in emergency, and you will only meet your doctor for literally one minute. If you experience the same I suggest you file a complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Toni Roma

I had surgery recently and I found the care to be exceptional from the moment I entered the hospital to register for my surgery to the moment I left after my surgery. The nurses were attentive and caring and ensured I was comfortable at all times. The OR nurse introduced me to everyone and tried to put me at ease. Everyone was so professional and I'm glad my surgeon worked out of this hospital because I've had several good experiences here.

Jess Hydral

Went to the hospital about two months ago. The doctors were complaining about the hospital board. I found the hospital very dirty, staff unhappy. Ohip paying lot of money. This hospital it is private or govt.? The issue is not the wait, the actual care. Doctors didn't care, nurses didn't put proper dressings I know Ohip pays but it's our money from 13% taxes. Now they opening another one by wonderland. Why?

Marina M.

I was accepted in ER at 11:00 PM on Thursday in semi-conscious condition, and was placed in the corridor. My husband was at my side, trying not to fall asleep, as he worked all day (9 hours) at construction site. Nurse was passing by every hour or so, saying that doctor will see me soon. HE NEVER DID! After about 3 hours of waiting , nurse said, that doctor is attending a patient who is in a very grave condition, and please wait another half an hour. After ANOTHER 1,5 hour we decided to leave, as I felt a bit better. At registration desk we saw Dr. Pakijavan just running to another patient. He never even looked into my direction. So, if you are alone and lying somewhere in the corridor , unconscious, I don't think you have any chance - you can pass out - they will never notice; and there always be someone in more serious condition to attend to. I gave 2 stars: because two paramedics who brought me in did their job excellently - did all tests and gave me IV support (1.5 star); and 0.5 star to registration desk: they properly wrote down my insurance number and nurse properly REGISTERED me in her journal, took tests and DISASSEMBLED IV. She refused however to give me copies of my tests. Their parking lot has a great business, without any effort at all - most expensive, especially at night hours, and no person to help to get receipt. So decide yourself whether to go to that hospital in case of emergency or not.

chris brissett

I brought my fiance in as she was having stomach pains. We arrived at 2:20am. The nurses and Doctor that were on duty let my fiance sit there for hours and hours before attending to her. It is now 1130am and I called 6 times to try to find out if she is ok. They told me there is no cause for concern. But yet still she hasn't been attended to. I've watched people who came in way after her get treated and leave. Its funny thats in these time of racial discrimination a black female is not being treated as a human when in pain at the hospital. This is how people die. We have been treated better in 3rd world countries. This is absolutely horrible and disgusting and I will never come back to this hospital.

Jessica

Worse hospital I’ve ever been to, they sent me home after spending hours waiting for doctors and tests without even figuring out what’s causing my pain. They kept checking a different part of my body from where the pain was not coming from, the doctors seemed incompetent and uneducated since they can’t even do the right tests and sent someone home in more pain than when they walked in. I’ve heard terrible things about this hospital before going in but I still decided to give it a chance and clearly that was a mistake, I wouldn’t recommend anybody go there because you are going to be wasting your time. If you’re thinking of going to Mackenzie Health DON’T, North York General is way better!

Salma Shaikh

Took my dad to get his first Covid test and the nurses didn't explain to him what to expect with an NP swab (I.e. Deep nasal Swab that burns and uncomfortable). They just went for it and proceeded to hold his arms down to prevent him from reflexively stopping them. A more empathetic, patient, and patient centred approach would've helped but their immediate decision to choose restraint was very disappointing and apalling. I don't doubt staff are overworked and have high volumes to test but shouldn't cause a complete deterioration of human decency and maintaining my father's dignity. Please do better.

Humi mk

2nd visit here, first time they forgot to release my bf. When I asked about the wait time, they said oh he was released an hour ago. They only place is efficient here is xray or ultrasound. So, if you come here make sure to find out the status. Now, this time I am here and after 4 hours, I asked about my reports, they said oh we haven't done blood work yet. It's only upon your asking they will do something, but then they get distracted and forget about you again. I am kind of upset with this whole ordeal. I understand there are other patients. But, what is the use of their system if its failing them and patients have to remind them.

Adriana Cuevas

Good attention when I was there. I had to wait like 40 min for the doctor but the nurses were really nice and polite. The doctor was nice as well.

Mariya Novikova

The worst hospital you can go to. Unprofessional staff in the emergency! My child was not even assessed properly. Medication was administered without my permision! My child was misdiagnosed, and we had to travel to a different hospital where he was treated appropriately. I am a health care professional and have never seen suach a horrible care. Stay away from this emergency, and take your time to travel to a different health care facility where you will be assessed by the professionals.

Jos H

Staff is great. Food was really good. NICU was amazing. A lot of care and attention was given during my stay and my baby's stay there.

5G Towers installed on top of the building. This hospital is going to make everyone VERY SICK. A recent government study in the US has showed "clear evidence" of a link between exposure to mobile phone radiation and cancer in studies using rats. A petition signed by more than 200 scientists and doctors warns 5G will "massively increase" the population's exposure to this kind of radiation. The 5G technology is too new to have been thoroughly tested and studied by many parties outside of cell service providers. The deployment of 5G, or fifth generation cellular technology, constitutes a massive experiment on the health of all species It has been linked to higher bird deaths. The International Society of Doctors for the Environment, its subsidiaries in 27 countries and more than 200 doctors and scientists are all calling for a stop to be put to the roll out of 5G, 'due to concern that 5G radio frequency radiation will have adverse health effects. Politicians should be contacted directly, as they have approved and installed them on Water Towers. Bell and Rogers are the communications company responsible. Huawei is the developer. Let's not support these companies in killing us, and the planet.

Al Mulicious

Gotta love waiting on the phone for over an hour to book an assessment just to be hung up on when your turn comes.

Samantha J.

Had great delivery experience with dr BEDi V. Sadly not good one at nicu with nurses Joy(Chinese lady) and another one long red hair from Ukraine. They are super rude I don't know how they can work in there. Dr. Grynn is super.

Tina Michaels

My experience at Mackenzie Health was fantastic! I went into the Emergency department on a Saturday night in October 2015 for a broken foot and was seen almost immediately. The x-rays were done within 30 minutes. The doctors, the nurses were amazing. I am so glad I went to Mackenzie Health.

Steve Barnett

EMS was great. Staff friendly and polite but place was disgustingly dirty and crowded. Four hours in and still waiting to find out if I had a heart attack. Washrooms were gross and area for taking blood had blood on the needle receptacle bin and the wall. I would think a hospital would be more sanitary. Very disappointing.

Sabrina Dhuman

I recently went into emergency to have my ankle/leg looked at after a fall. The wait time to see the triage nurse was quick (less than 10 minutes). After that, the process, including wait times, to get an xray and see a doctor was well under an hour. Everything was fairly quick but thorough, so thank you! :)

My uncle passed away in Palliative Care this past week. I must say that the lack of compassion and empathy from the doctor and nurses at the time of our loved ones passing were unlike anything I've ever seen. It was horrific to be honest. The Russian nurse, not sure of her name, was argumentative at the time of his death in explaining his passing and even went to point out that "she was russian so she knows everything". Which I found to be in bad taste. The doctor whom arrived just came in and nonchalantly nodded her her head and say yup he's gone and his bad choices put him here. We left there feeling hurt and wonder where the care and compassion was at this time of grief. Not only to us family members, but to my deceased family member. We saw the chaplain after leaving the room and she didnt have much to say either. No profound words of loss communicated or even a prayer with the family. Hard to counsel any family when you are not there. If you want anything from this Palliative Care Ward, you pretty much have to ask for it yourself, otherwise, it is not offered to you. Do not leave the last days of your loved ones life in this Hospital in Palliative Care. If I could give negative stars I would gladly do so.

My 86-year-old dad is admitted to Mackenzie Health and we are planning the next phase of his care. The physiotherapist on the unit wanted dad to go to rehab and applied for several locations without our consent and totally against our wishes. She has never involved the family/patient in the application process. My dad got accepted to a location of HER choice, and we are pressured by the unit manager to make a decision. We have repeatedly voiced our concern regarding this location. It is too far from home and it is impossible for us to travel and visit my dad everyday. Separating my dad, an old frail man, from his family is like a death sentence. My family is devastated. We are being bullied in this discharge process. It is unethical to apply for a discharge location without patient's consent. It is a callous act to ignore the wish of a frail elderly and his family. If I can give a negative rating to this hospital, I won't hesitate to do so.

Went to the Emergency Department after I badly hit my toe. Arrived at 4:00 p.m. and was done before 6 p.m. From Triage, Registration, Nursing, Xray, doctor, everyone was fantastic, polite and professional. My toe was broken and a tech bandaged me up and I was done at 5:45 p.m. Great Job!!

I would like to share with you an amazing experience I had at the Mackenzie Health Hospital. My daughter is almost 8 months pregnant in Australia and I have not seen her for almost two years since this pandemic started. Samantha wanted to fly home for 10 days the flight was booked however she was unable to secure insurance, and I can’t explain how devastated she was (probably hormones lol). At any rate I decided I would fly to her as Australia just opened up their boarders to parents of residents of Australia. I booked my flight had everything ready to go and the Australian government wanted proof that I was her mother. Well this was a challenge as I am leaving in a couple of weeks. I reached out to Mackenzie Health where she was born 28 years ago and had the pleasure of dealing with Simi, oh my goodness she went above and beyond! She was kind, professional and showed empathy to my situation. Simi explained that records were only kept for ten years but she did have access to older records (microfiche) that might give me what was required. A day later Simi called me with the information I required and I drove directly to the hospital and picked up my required documents. I understand the pressure and stress on all our employees during this pandemic and it is very difficult to find associates who can still provide exceptional customer service. Simi provided excellent customer service and I wanted her recognized for her efforts.

I recently had day surgery at Mackenzie Health the experience there was amazing, everyone was very helpful from the wonderful woman at the help desk in Building A that directed to the correct area in building C to the medical staff that were very pleasant , accommodating, attentive and some of the friendliest severance I have every had . Definitely 2 thumbs up

Dom Ventura

I went in for Day Surgery. Was super nervous since the last time I went under the knife was 26 years ago. All I can say was that the experience was fantastic. The staff were super friendly from start to finish. They eased all my worries. I felt like a million bucks after my procedure. Would definitely choose this hospital again. Keep up the good work.

Christina Argyris

They do all tests imaginable and get results. Staff is great. They work hard. It's clean and professional. I drive from midtown Toronto to Richmond Hill and it is well worth it. I am hooked for life! They are a one stop place to go and they do not miss a step in the diagnosis as I feel they check for anything and everything!!!

Teri Kim

Terrible hospital. Front line reception in emergency doesn't know anything, and all other staff hide behind their phones. Go to another hospital if you can, especially if emergency. These guys don't care about you or your loved ones. Not a single person is able to demonstrate compassion or think beyond what they're told to do.

Grazyna Khader

Had a minor procedure on August 09, 2021. Timing was exactly as they said it would be. The nurses and assisting staff were very friendly and helpful. Both doctors took time to explain everything to me and were very caring. Overall, I was very impressed with the treatment I received.

Mark Mah

I can say worse hospital in the world, if you say it’s hospital, actually is not even hospital.poor service and doctors and nurses very Rude and unprofessional with out any knowledge, not recommended

I was in the resuscitation room on July 8th and Jasmine was my nurse. She is amazing. She made me feel comfortable and actually listened to what I had to say about my health issues. I adore her and I could not have asked for a better nurse. Jasmine, if you read this I want you to know that you're a gem! Love, The Woman with the Cookies :)

Serwan Bozca

1 doctor only overnight? Hand sanitizer bottles are empty most of them. How Ironic....

D Smith

The worst of the worst. The staff and management are collectively trying to create the number one hospital in Canada. If you need to use this hospital you should hope you'll be dead by the time you reach Mackenzie Health (or they would make sure you die with suffering)

Eric

One time I went here after breaking my leg. Between the pain of a broken leg and my experience here at this hospital, I'm sad to say that the hospital experience caused me more agony. The wait times are very long. I brought an injured friend here once and we were there from 11pm to around 7am. The doctor then saw him and told him to walk it off. Is that the hospital's fault? Perhaps, or perhaps not. I refrained from giving it one star because I'm sure the staff at this hospital engage in life saving work every day.

Rita S

Emergency staff was exceptional. Doctors, nurses, registry, all of it. A huge thank you for everything you do!

Ghada Jan

Great physicians, NPs, and staff. Reasonable waiting time and priorities. The best emergency department.

Gareth Taylor

Have had to visit the emergency department on four separate occasions with my elderly mother who has fallen. Particularly appreciative of the nursing staff as well as the Emergency doctors and specialists who looked after her in a most kind and efficient manner. Thank you.

Sooriya

The cafeteria here where both patients , staff and the school kids across the street eat at gets really busy at lunch. The food is good. Just your regular cafeteria food. Buttt the staff that work in the cafe work like sloths. Super slow.

This hospital is disorganized, rushed, clueless, and bureaucratic. Especially if you are not from Canada, go to a different hospital. As I am a visitor, my ER visit costs $680. During the visit, the doctor ordered an ultrasound, which he and several nurses strongly pushed to schedule the next day, as I would be waiting too long to have it the same day. I followed their advice, and returned the next day for the ultrasound. Afterward, I was told I needed to pay the $680 again as if I were a new patient, just to have my results interpreted by an ER doctor. If I had ignored the advice of the staff [or if anyone had informed me that I would need to pay again], I would have waited and been able to afford my complete visit. Because of the staff's careless oversight of my not being Canadian, I was not able to receive a diagnosis from my ER visit. Registration staff said "there was nothing they could do."

Vanessa Mohammed

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, I was taken care of quickly. Was treated for my symptoms and released.

Patrisia Daminato

I had a lengthy stay in the hospital with the birth of my last child. The staff were very professional and always provided outstanding care. Excellent hospital with some amazing doctors, nurses and support staff.

I’m going to start by saying that I respect all healthcare workers. My mother was a nurse and my grandma was a doctor. The experience I had at Mackenzie Health is shared based on my personal experience with specific people, it is not a criticism of the entire healthcare staff. In conclusion, don’t go to this hospital if you have any choice. I went to the ER at 8AM for a severe pain I. The abdominal area. I have a history of gall bladder slush and I’m 90% sure it is the same problem. When I arrived in pain and sweat, barely walking, I had to wait 30 min in triage while 2 nurses at the registration were chatting. When I was asking if they could help me, both of them said just sit and wait. I couldn’t sit straight and I was leaning against the wall to ease the pain, they occasionally yelled out, sir just sit. After registration, I waited at least 1 hour before I could go in for a nurse to ask me what’s going on. The treatment room was 30% occupied at the time. Once I’m in the treatment area, a nurse trying to sit up the IV failed twice. I asked for someone else to do it and it worked on the first try. I can safely conclude that it was the lack of experience on the first nurse. After they took my blood and urine, I waited an hour before they showed up to ask for my blood sample again due to machine failure or something. Without explaining it, they asked to poke me at a different area to draw the blood while the IV is perfectly working. I said ok and the male nurse/doctor poked me 3 more times and failed. I was very frustrated and suggested just take the blood from the established IV. He did and then it worked. 20 mins later, someone asked me to give urine sample again. And then asked me for another blood sample. I asked why. He just simple said. I don’t know. Just do it. Let’s go. After I’m done getting my sample again, I was sitting in the treatment and saw a senior went up to the nurse desk and ask what’s going on, it’s been a few hours. The nurse refused to talk to him and just said go back and wait. He wanted to speak with someone, so he asked anyone I can talk to, I want to leave. The nurse said don’t raise your voice and then they started arguing. The tone was extremely condescending and the senior didn’t speak much English. Moments later, the security came and asked to see his phone and ask him to sit and not move. It made me extremely uncomfortable when the nurse called the security and basically forced him to give up treatment and leave. I went up to the nurse desk and asked how much longer I have to wait, she said she doesn’t know. She doesn’t know who’s my doctor and 5 hours wait is not so bad. I asked her to find out so I can leave because my pain is gone before they gave me any pain killer. It’s been too long. She never got back to me and until I saw my doctor and requested him to look into my file, that’s when I was discharged. While preparing discharge paper, the nurse took my BP and got distracted and forgot to remove my IV. I told her to focus and finish my part before moving on to someone else, she told me that’s not my business. I can clearly see that she was unorganized, tabbing on different screens for another patient because someone asked her while she was taking my BP. It was a simple task to take BP, remove IV but it took her more than 20 min to discharge me, not mentioning she forgot to take out all of my sticker for ECG. My painful experience with the bedside manner of the nurses and their tone of voice was reflected in many other patients. It’s truly disgusting how they feel so condescending to vulnerable people and abuse their status as health care worker. I’m more offended by their treatment of the senior than the lack of skill and management. The latter can be trained, but compassion and respect is hard to train.

Maha Nassari

Worst hospital ever! Stay away if you can ! The workers are so rude! STAY AWAY

Margarita Jvalikovskaya

Multiple bad experiences with this hospital. Expect to get stuck there between 8 to 12 hours without getting help. Even it they seam not to be very busy, don't expect shorter waiting time. Disorganized, rude and uncaring. My dad was lying on the floor in pain and medical staff was just going around him as he was not there.

Daniel Dubovan

I came to the hospital to retrieve some medical documents. I idled outside the main entrance, with my 4-ways on, away from any cars and leaving plenty of room for anyone to pass. I returned to find a parking ticket. After coming in, being handed the documents and leaving, I'm pretty sure it was less than 3 minutes. THAT'S WHY I IDLED. I received a parking fine of $150. For a hospital, a place where people are already experiencing pain and grief, this is disgusting. The parking officer, M. Burt, described in his ticket statement that he waited a few minutes before giving the ticket. I know you lied. I'm sure you make a fine living, better than most of the people around you, working for the government and preying on the vulnerable. Government dollars well at work. Pathetic

I was admitted to the hospital last Friday morning - As soon as I arrived I was treated so very well, with the upmost care, understanding & respect, after admission, in Emergency Winston, made sure I was as comfortable as possible! From there I was admitted Surge -Emergency, where I was met by Elizabeth, how caring, how professional, how understanding! Transferred 2 days later to the 4th floor, again met by what could only be the upmost, caring, professional ' Dhruv, my personal care giver, he was polite, attentive, understanding, knowledgeable, professional. the acclimation's could go on for pages...! 6 days in the hospital, of the UPMOST PROFESSIONAL CARE! Nyrieth, my night nurse, again professional, understanding and caring. With these type of understanding professionals, no wonder I am home earlier than expected, feeling I could trust the care at Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill. Thank you is not nearly enough on how I feel about the staff at this hospital.

Aaron Rosenblum

Staff is half decent but taxpayers paying too much to run this hospital.

Nelson Tran

Got my covid test here. How everything transpired was very well set up and simple. Did not wait no more then 15min in line. And in and out the test room in less than 12 min I’d say. Results came back in less than 24 hours also.

First time ever writing a review on anything whatsoever but this is warranted. About 10 months ago I awoke with a severe pain in my lower abdomen and was taken here as I was sleeping at my girlfriends nearby. After 2 hours of absolute excruciating pain they finally got me some kind of painkiller. Then after one ultrasound and another 8 hour wait they decided to tell me I'm perfectly fine and sent me home. As I was walking out the door I was still in pretty bad pain. Not to mention every single nurse and doctor there was commendably rude and mean. Here we are 10 months later and the exact same attack happened. Went to another Toronto Hospital, and after doing the correct tests told me I had appendicitis and needed emergency surgery. They said an ultrasound cannot catch something like this always. When I was at McKenzie they told me it might be appendicitis but after ultrasound cleared me off from that. Turns out I lived an entire year (dangerously and incredibly lucky that it didn't rupture) with appendicitis. I just had my surgery and am feeling great. Thanks guys for almost ending my life due to your lazyness and treating me like a number.

Jennifer Snider

My son was recently seen through the Pediatric Urgent Care Centre. We had a very positive experience. The staff of the Centre were extremely attentive, efficient and thorough and the Pediatrician we had seen was an absolute doll. This all helped to calm our nerves and to put my son at ease. Keep up the great work!

Claire R

My two-year-old son was brought to emergency with an anaphylactic allergic reaction. He was seen very quickly and the bedside manner of all the staff was kind and caring. They helped him stay calm throughout the process and were reassuring me that we were indeed in the best of care.

Regis Huang

Don't come to this hospital if you could. The worst hospital ever and I really regret sending my mom to this hospital. My mom died in this hospital without respects. The doctors and nursers here are just cold blooded and they have no mercy.

AVOID THIS PLACE Just left. If you love yourself or anyone for that matter, avoid this "hospital". I walk in with tremendous pain. I was given a shot, fainted due to the shot and still in pain after coming to. My issue was diagnosed and I was told to rest. I have been at rest for weeks and was still sent home in pain with no remedy. Go to North York General instead. Mackenzie Health isn't a hospital. The doctors don't care. They just want you out so they can have an easy day. AVOID THIS PLACE

Had a procedure on July 30, 2021 and I felt the whole experience was well done. Timing was exactly as they said it would be, not much waiting. The nurse that did the prep was very friendly and helped to put me at ease. The doctor took time to explain everything to me and was very caring. After procedure and waiting to see doctor, I was extremely cold and the attending nurse wasted no time to get me a warmed blanket. Overall, I was very impressed with the treatment I received.

Antonietta Maddaloni

Thank-You to all the emergency staff. I was admitted due to septic shock and was very well taken care of. I have the utmost respect for the stressful work that you all do and Dr. Zhu, I will be forever grateful and never forget what you did for me. I know you lost sleep over me. You revived my trust and confidence in our medical system again. I met some of the most wonderful people during my six day stay there... but if ever we are to meet again, hopefully next time it will be at a beach on a tropical resort somewhere!

My mom passed away in May at the palliative unit. When she passed the Nurse Rita came and said she was not sure if she passed or not. Did not listen to her heart Beats. Later we knew it was over. The nurse did not even say sorry to us or showed any empathy. She gave the funeral home people hard time by not providing them the info they needed that night. It was not a good experience. Nothing good to say about the nurses in that night shift.

Carm Romano

I came to the emergency Aug 7 at 2:30pm Day shift and the staff were great. Th Dr explained in details what they did and explained to me that because I'm dietbetic the medication would cause my clucose levels to rise and if they were over 20 to come back and they would give me an insulin shot to lower the levels.I was don't buy 5:45pm.Great experience! As expected the clucose levels went up over 20 so I came in 12:30 am August 8 THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I waited over 15 minutes to get called at the triage, there was no one there except me and the staff were chatting about their day at home. After 15 minutes finally took me and got registered. Then the nurse called me in to do the paperwork and I explained that I was already there earlier so they didn't do anything and asked me to wait outside the hallway. After an hour and a half they called me in and told me to sit in room 3 to wait for the Dr. Another hour and a half and no Dr came to see me . There was a total of 7 people in the emergency already assessed and no nurses or doctors to be found. Great atmosphere during the day professional and courteous but totally different atmosphere the night shift. I got up and left. NEVER AGAIN!

My baby boy was born here 5 days ago. It was a perfect place for us to welcome the angle. All the nurses, doctors and staff there are friendly and they have highly responsibility of their duty. I'd like to share some issues during our hospitalized period(although it was only two days ). For instance, when we are about to discharge on that day, the nurse checked our baby car seat and found it was not the one that was available in Canada(actually I bought it in China and brought it here). The cop might pull us over charge $500. I went to Walmart and bought a Canadian standard one. We were good to go! The baby was crying a lot during the night time when we in our ward, especially when I leave him on bed so I had to hold him all time time. The nurse(M) came to comfort e and the baby and told it was normal because the baby feels isolated on bed alone and it would be fine in the next few days. I felt so warm from her words. It is our first baby and both my wife and I are appreciate of the service here. Thank you and see you next time Mackenzie Health.

I went to the ER this afternoon and couldn't believe all the services were finished within 1.5 hours. I was really impressed by all the excellent and efficiency services from the professional, especially in this difficult time. Besides my sincere thanks to all the staffs, I also like to express my special appreciation to Dr Stephen Alexander Flindall, Nicole, Joey (the X Ray technician) and Karina. Thank you all and stay safe and healthy!

Great service on February 10/2021 in the Emergency Room. I am really grateful for Dr: Bruke and his team for their hardworking efforts. I hope they can have more support in the future to help them in their hectic jobs.

Andrew R

I spent 2 weeks here in April. I had doctor Dunn and she was an excellent doctor who helped me in my time of need. My rating is for the nurses some of the nurses were very rude and made my visit a nightmare. They would get very angry if I would ask for anything. My kidneys failed and I had severe muscle damage in my back which was very painful and I couldnt move or walk or even lie down in peace. Nurses there were very angry and hated there jobs and would take it out on the patients. Both doctors I saw there were very nice and had all information I required. I'm happy that I got better I just wished the nurses treated people like human beings and not like trash

V. Sander

Had a great stay during labor time. Nurses and doctors were just awesome especially dr. Vishal Bedi and dr. Grynn . But some of the nurses in NICU should be kicked out for their rude manners. Otherwise all other staff deserve gratitude.

Sabrina M

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are extremely disorganized. They have 2 machines at the front for getting a number one of which was broken. We finally registered at the desk to find out afterwards the waiting area... which was a literal hall was full and there wasn't a single seat available. Once we finally arrived in a room to see the doctor we had to wait over an hour. Previous to that my boyfriend got blood work and an X-ray. The doctor arrived and had no idea he even had any work done. He didn't come with any information on his patient. All he did was ask a few questions then told us to wait in the "Treatment Centre" while he gets his results. The treatment centre was nothing but a jumble of different sections. There was a seating area, a "treatment wall", a blood pressure machine and an extremely messy receptionist desk that was also supposed to act as a pharmacy. The entire thing looked so make shift and ghetto I could have sworn I was in a third world country. We waited a good hour to finally have a nurse take his blood pressure. She then tells us the doctor will be with us shortly and wants to review the results even though she said everything came back fine. We waited for another hour just to see patients that came after us get helped sooner. The young brown receptionist seemed to have NO CLUE how to handle the patients. She didn't do anything in order and seemed to only care when people complained about the wait....which is exactly what happened to us. Once we complained she told us we didn't even need to be there anymore and that the doctor didn't need to speak with him. In the end he didn't get any information except for "anxiety" being the cause of psychical chest pain. When he asked if there was anything they could do to check arteries the only response the receptionist gave was that the tests to check that are only for patients that have already had a heart attack. Odd considering google shows plenty of tests that can be done one including a simple ultrasound. So if you plan on wasting hours of your time... just to get nowhere this is the place for you!

Steve Jaro Martinez

I had very strong palpitations that I get from anxiety but I decided to come get checked at the hospital to make sure there were no underlying conditions with my health in case I had any heart issues or other health issues. The nurse who treated me began to ask me what my issue was and I explained that I had a history of anxiety but the palpitations I’ve been feeling have been strong to the point where it was concerning. She then began to berate me with questions that are unnecessary asking why didn’t I come to the hospital the first day I felt it why did I decide to wait a few days to come till today, why did I decide not to come to tomorrow. She asked these questions consecutively without giving me a chance to speak elevating my anxiety to a higher level before I arrived at the hospital. If you’re a health care professional you should understand how to ask questions without stressing out the patient and making them feel safe as you treat them but instead I was verbally assaulted with multiple questions at once. After being treated I watched everyone get discharged and I’m sitting in the waiting room thinking maybe they want to monitor me more to make sure I’m fine, I grew impatient and asked why I’m waiting and they tell me they forgot to discharge me. The lack of organization and professionalism at this hospital is concerning and they need to reflect on their procedures.

Fly Fisher

This place has zero service policy. Best to show up 2 hours late for your appointment as they will let you jump the line. I counted 5 people who showed up late (per their words) and reception puts them in next. They have a policy of sorts where they say you get in within 80 minutes of your appointment but that’s not true given the jump the line first class service given to those who show up late.

Saeid Tabibi

I wished I could give you unlimited negetive points, You ruined my life with your wrong decisions also your late appointments, I should do the surgery now for no reason only because of your multiple mistakes, I never forgive you, In the mainor clinic doctors do whatever their nurses recommend. I am so sorry for city of Richmond hill with this awful hospital. I recommend people if you have to come to this hospital after a day go and check all they did in an other hospital and never trust them. They dislocated my bone with their so-called doctors.

Yasmin Kassam

It has been a very disappointing experience for me and my family. Starting from the bottom ( the screeing to the doctors) no one is ready or knows any answers to our questions. One doc tells you something the other doc who comes something else and finally the procedure is done by the 3rd doc. No one takes the initiative to come and explain to us. The people at the screening think they know all and be so rude ( some of them are very good and understanding) not ready to listen. I request whoever is in charge to please do something as we go through a lot during this time and we need someone to understand and not be rude. Please let me know what is going to be done via e-mail. My email is yasmin_kassam@hotmail.com Thank you

Careless personal, awful and cruel physicians. Nobody cares and nobody is responsible.

john dawson

excellent pre-op and post -op care for my back surgery Feb 10 from Dr. John Dawson......Hallelujah, I can walk again!

James gard

I was recently in a very serious car accident which left me very disoriented. The staff nurses, and doctors were amazing, keeping me informed keeping me reassured, I didn't go more then 10 to 15 minutes before being reassed. I didn't have to advocate for myself they did it for me. To the doctors, nurses and all staff involved thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Samuel Freedman

Thank you to the Doctors and Nurses of Mackenzie Health, for the amazing care I received, whilst staying in the Hospital recently... The dedication to their jobs is outstanding... I have to also say that the food was really good, always delivered with a smile... thanks again

Max Glogauer

My name is Max Glogauer ( a Great Grandfather ) and yesterday ( February 23rd. ) I had a biopsy for an irregularity on one of my kidneys. While it was uncomfortable during the procedure, a nursing assistant named AZRA took extra care of me, showing compassion with a cool calm and collected attitude with such sincere caring for my situation. I cannot let her wonderful show of tender loving care for me, which I felt was so humane and thoughtful towards a total senior like myself, go unnoticed. After lying on the gurney in recovery for almost 3 hours, she was kind enough to get me some lunch and a refreshment, and checking and rechecking all the levels necessary on the monitor, while I was recovering from the procedure! The Lady deserves every possible accolade that I can think of, she was the epitome of a medical professional, who clearly loves her job, especially in this time of needs for all of us....G-d Bless You, Azra!!

I had a surgery at the Mackenzie Health hospital in early October. As part of the process an intubation tube was inserted into my mouth. I was asleep for the entire procedure. When I woke up I discovered I had a broken front tooth . This trauma to my mouth occurred during the anaesthetization. My upper gum was swelling and another tooth beside the broken one was fractured. While I was recovering, two doctors and a nurse approached me and apologized for the incident. Because I was in recovery I didn't get a chance to take it more seriously. I contacted the hospital after I came home and wanted to talk to the doctor. It took a long time for him to respond to me through the patient relation department. His first response was he had no idea what happened and indicated I was fine when I left the surgery room. Later on I noticed in my chart he documented I had signed a waiver regarding injury to temporary crowns and dentures. I didn't think the waiver applied to my dental work. Following that I went to my dentist who outlined a lengthy, extensive, and expensive procedure to repair my teeth. When I looked at the official hospital report, it was stated by a nurse that I had told her my tooth was broken and that the doctor was contacted, but nothing more. This hospital didn’t want to take any responsibility and the doctor lied on the report about me not telling them I had a loose tooth. My teeth were fine before the surgery as recent dental x-rays would indicate. The doctor suggested that either my teeth were damaged prior to surgery (nothing mentioned in the report) or somehow my teeth were damaged in the recovery room. This terrible incident bought me huge negative impact on my recovery and my self esteem and daily life. I can't eat properly, I don't want to see people, I'm embarrassed to even smile at my son. I don't want to return to work as I don't wish to have anyone see my mouth. I only want the hospital, specifically the doctor to acknowledge that it was their fault that my teeth got broken. And I would like them to pay for the dental work, as it is very expensive and will only be covered by my insurance after the entire procedure is complete.

Rita Belopolski

I came to Mackenzie because I had a stone in my gallbladder that needed immediate attention. Throughout my entire stay from March 4th to March 9th, the team on C4 surgical that was taking care of me was incredible. I would like to extend a personal thank you to nurse Amanda, Iryna, Jacqueline, Gaynel, Natalia, Kiran, and Nurse Practitioner Hongling along with Dr.Moore and Dr. Keng and the Anesthetist Nick Mendis. Each of them went above and beyond, were super caring and compassionate and always checked in on me along on their other patients, to make sure we were all receiving the proper care needed. It was my great pleasure to be their patient and I am forever grateful for them for making my experience a smooth one. They deserve all the recognition for their very hard work! Thank you again.

Gaurav S

All the reviews with single star are so true. Waiting time is ridiculous. Being rude seems to be the culture with the staff here. Patients crying with pain in ER and no one’s bothered. When patient calling for help, it’s ignored mostly by the nurses around.

Buggy

Seek medical care elsewhere if possible. The staff continuously displays a lack of communication, understanding, and competence.

Lena Minassian

Understaffed. Technically all the correct test was done for me last night as a heart patient. Nurses were over whellmed, asked what is this 4 medication for me to take- she was not clear. I got up to ask the doctor, someone who was seating at the desk, with the sarcastic tone of voice tells me with the finger shaking toward me- that's the doctor, you don't ask question from a doctor, go and ask the nurse. My question to the hospital is very simple: as a heart attack patient in the emergency room , who should answer my question, and why do you think the patient can be spoken like this. Then I remember, why I avoid this hospital, the only reason I was there last night because the time was essence and my chest pain was increasing.

Nipun Nagar

I had a wonderful experience today. Dr Luke and the team in Gastroscopy department were great. They gave utmost attention and addressed all my queries. The consultation post procedure was good. Thank you team for doing a wonderful job. - Nipun

I was out of there quickly and the staff are very friendly!

Trying to book a covid test here is ridiculous first time waited for an hour and was disconnected. I called back and it has been a 3 hour wait and still on hold. This is the most disgusting and worst idea ever going to booking appointments at least before you can wait in line and see it move along. I am waiting and don't even have any idea of when I'll be attended

Julia Black

I had previously bad experience with this hospital. For the previous years I've been there few times myself and with my mom. The cleanliness and wait time was terrible. The mammogram test had to be repeated, because it wasn't properly done first time. This year I had an x-ray test and this visit was very pleasant, especially comparing to the previous experience. No appointment had to be booked in advance, I came in and registered, the staff was very helpful, everything was very fast. That's why I would give probably 3 starts now. Don't know so far if there are any improvements in Emergency room. Hopefully, the management will continue working on improving the service. 2019 update. Had a surgery scheduled at 9:30AM. The surgery was moved to the end of the day without any reasonable explanation. I had to be fasting for the surgery, so I didn't eat or DRINK for almost 24hrs and at the end my body was fully dehydrated, so when nurse tried to put IV for me she couldn't find veins while normally it was never a problem for me. I felt so bad, so I fainted. Then they had to call for the anesthesiologist to do it and after they manage it, they informed me that my surgery CANCELLED! So I has starved for whole day, poked with needles multiple times in VAIN! Looks like previous improvement was just a temporal, unfortunately.

I am appalled by what I’ve experienced here. Brought my dad here three days ago and he is in critical condition, yet the staff were so careless and negligent. My dad needed to use the washroom and he called a nurse to come help him yet no one came for the entire night! They could have at least let me stay with him for longer but they constantly told me about the covid policy without regard to his condition. He was left uncovered, stressed and they bumped his head while changing him. He felt so much worse after coming here as doctors kept telling him how bad his heart was, meanwhile another doctor told Him his heart was okay. This is unacceptable - not even animals are treated this way. The manager didn’t even care about our concern and neither did she apologize but she just dismissed it. They lost his cane and we have since relocated him to another hospital and will never return here again.

I visited the hospital around 11 p.m. on October 12th.With very deep cut on the thumb. In less than 10 minutes I received excellent treatment from a nurse. And less than 15 minutes very professional young men doctor Nicholas Clarridge finish the treatments. Thank you Doctor 10 Stars **********

Disgrace of a hospital. We took my father to emergency retaining water in the lungs and legs and instead of trying to solve the situation they drained him at a rate that dropped his proteins (potassium and sodium) to deadly levels. These proteins are needed for heart health. And after 3 days he was discharged super weak and feeble. Offcourse the next day he started to fill up with liquid again as they did not get to the root of the problem, and just thru medication at it. I do not blame the nursing as it was phenomenal but the doctors are bottom rung. Theres a famous saying that people use "come to my doctor hes the best", which leads to the question, where are the doctors who graduate at the bottom of the class, and we now know where they are MacKenzie Health. They discharged my father with 25% heart health which is deadly, thank goodness we were able to contact mount sinai hospital, who have taken the correct steps to ensure his lungs/legs are being drained in a safe way. Not only that, they are trying their best to increase his heart health with using TAVR for a valve that has narrowed, this wasnt even mentioned by MacKenzie as a possibility. Unbelievable the disparity of care in the same city.

We had a great experience today while in for day surgery. Everyone from the receptionist to the day surgery clinic staff to the nurses, anesthesiologist and surgeons were friendly and welcoming

Today I decided to go to York central hospital in Richmond Hill. Since nowadays, family Dr's don't see you without an appointment . For the past 4 days I starting getting pain on my left eye, then redness on the inside, after 2 days itchiness and watery discharge, on my forth day it became swollen. At this time I am in pain and my eye is getting smaller. The time I was there was approximately between 615 pm to 645pm. While there, they send me to the minor care. When the Dr came he seems to be in a hurry, he introduced himself he was so fast that I didn't get his name, otherwise I would have mention his name in this report. He checked my eyes and said oh! is a stye, just put warm water. He didn't let me finish some questions about my symptoms, last he said I will book you tomorrow to see the eye dr, sorry I said I have to work. He didn't give me options. His response was thank you for coming and left. Very rude, careless and uncompassionate. To care for people it comes within you, "YOUR HEART" To be in the health field, you must love people, care, be compassionate and love your profession. This dr is representing York central hospital, for God's sake,he does not care, just get pay and go home. This is an update of my visit to York central hospital. On Sunday April 18, 2021 my family Dr's had the opportunity to care for my eye, I new when I head to hospital I was not feeling good. My dr assessed me and I had an infection on my left eye. She was concerned why I was never given antibiotics to treat the infection. If I have never call my dr for her advice after this visit probably this infection could have been worse. I am thankful I did and grateful to my dr because she knew what I was having. This dr that treated me didn't know what he was doing. He shouldn't be practicing, and looking after patients, because it can be a serious consequences to any human being. CARELESS AND UNCOMPASSIONATE Kind regards, Meybela

Very professional and helpful staff in this facility. Volunteer provided assistance to my family and was pleasant, courteous, and professional. She made a very difficult visit a lot more pleasant.

They have my results in their data base but won’t give them to me regardless if I’m having worse issues. Apparently I have to wait a few business days to get my results online. What happened to common sense and humanity these days.

I'm a cancer survivor and had my surgery done at McKenzie Hospital. I was there for about 7 days amd the staff were absolutely wonderful. Even the cleaning lady (Maria) was so kind. I will never forget her warm smile. She would get me desserts and always made sure I was smiling. Having cancer is hard on a person and being treated so kindly made the days go by easier. Thank you to all the nurses, doctor's and other staff for all the hard work that you do.

I was scared to go here because of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The reviews are exaggerated! This is a clean place. Was met by a few lovely nurses that guided me across the hospital. The ENT doctor was very kind as well. All in all it took 20 minutes max.

I wouldn’t even give this hospital & it’s staff a 1 star to be honest. Been here for 2 weeks already, every single doctor or nurse we’ve dealt with was terribly rude & lacked professional skills, even simple courtesy manners! Everyone’s so cold and not willing to help or care at all. Very lazy and quick to get out. Heard several nurses argue with each other, anytime you ask a nurse for help they say push the button then we’ll figure something out. You push the button & wait over 2 hours for someone to come to you, then on top of that wait, they take another hour bringing you what you requested or even answering a question IF they haven’t already forgotten about you. Very depressing to be here, very cold people, sad place to be in considering you’re ill & are waiting to recover. The food is terrible, you order one thing, they bring you another. & when asked to change to the right one they say it’s too late... so there’s been days of no food & tons of medication. I can’t wait to get out of here this is seriously the worst moments of my life. DO NOT come to this hospital if you can prevent it, do so!

I am very grateful to the A2 Complex Care unit for their excellent job in taking care of my grandmother. The healthcare workers were very attentive, caring, polite and efficient throughout my grandmothers time in their care.

The worst Covid assessment center. You are on the phone for hours and then get dropped multiple times so have go back to the end of wait time.

Sarah M

My review is only pertaining an insensitive and apathetic medical staff. Had an encounter with a surgeon there and when discussing a major operation, he did not seem to care to explain the post-operative risks thoroughly. He also seemed indifferent to my distress. He took lengthy phone calls repeatedly in midst conversations. I understand that you are a medical and not mental health professional, but a little empathy goes a long way! How do you expect people to trust you with operating on them when you don’t treat them like a human in pain?
