Have been to the facility twice. The first time to have a kidney stone removed. Came on appointed day at 8:30 AM and waited all day. At 8 PM was informed that the Dr. was unable to fit me in and to come back same time tomorrow. The next day was a repeat of the first day. I finally passed the stone later at home. Went back again with a herniated disk. Waited three hours to be seen by a doctor. She spent 5 minutes with me confirming what I already knew and went away to get some pain medication. Over an hour later a nurse appeared with some pills. Before the Dr. left she promised to return after the pills kicked in. After waiting three more hours I walked out of the hospital. Again - no treatment. Just lots of "processing." Tons of support staff - a small number of bureaucrats with stethoscopes masquerading as doctors who can stich up a cut or apply a Band-Aid - but who are, in the main, just gatekeepers - and a very small number of trained specialists who actually treat patients until they get fed up with the limitations of State run healthcare and flee to the states. That is Government run health care.

My wife and I and our older daughter all got tested positive for covid. My wife had some of the warning signs such as unbearable headache, painful chest pain, and shortness of breath. 811 advised us to take her to the ER immediately. Upon arrival they didn't let me in (which I understand) but made her stand in line like everyone else, waiting for a check in. At this time she was barely able to keep herself up. About an hour later she got into the triage and waited an additional 4 hours, sitting upright in pain, and still hasn't seen a doctor yet. At this point I went and got her and checked her out. We will fight this out from our home, knowing that we can not rely on our glorious health care system. This is shameful and a big fail. You did not just endangered my wife's life but everyone else's around her, by not providing appropriate care and isolation.

Just moved to Calgary and came in to get my sore throat looked at, dr told me to come back if it got worse, so 3 days later when it had gotten so sore I couldn’t eat drink or sleep, I came back. The nurse at the er check in was rude, telling me that this is an emergency room and that I should go to the clinic. I told her what the dr told me and that I’m new to the city and this place is close plus it was 9 at night. Still rude and insisting I go to the clinic. She finally admitted me after standing my ground.

I'm an RN at Foothills. For the first time I was on the other side waiting to get stitches. I jad no idea how slow our ER was at getting people seen. It was mind boggling

Very busy place but staff are always polite and helpful.

Great experience with the spinal clinic and diagnostic imaging.

Went there for delivery of our first baby..awesome staff..very helpful..it was great experience..even the postpartum nurses were great...

Bharat Bhusan Gudu

Really knowledgeable doctors and compassionate nurses. Specially on the general surgery unit. Things to change are little more welcoming receptionist at the unit desk and more private rooms.

Red_Brush

I have always received the best treatment and care from everyone in Foothills Hospital..

Ehsan Tarokh

Great doctors and reasonable facilities

Barbara Donnelly

The doctors were great and the nurses were good but the building is so old! Gyprock falling from walls and TVs don’t work and look like the will fall out of the ceiling! Found some of the nurses not that forthcoming with information and really took their time with getting back to you. Some were very good. My husband was there 4 years ago in McCaig tower and the difference is night and day. It was like you were in a different world

Zach Schleibinger

When I was getting ready to leave for discharge they threw out my shoes and would do nothing about it. Worst staff service ever never come to this hospital.

Lisa Beckstrom

Staff and doctors seem friendly and helpful. I can't speak for care as I was just visiting, but seems like a good hospital. Easy to find on transit, once you google the directions. Lol. Thanks for the help.

To the emergency services at Foothills: I cannot fathom such an unproductive and unethical environment where you are not providing beds to patients that are returning to the hospital a mere 2 days after laparoscopic surgery. After seeing 4 doctors and 5 nurses, all of them denied a patient from being able to rest in a stretcher or a bed. Instead you force them to sit ontop a hard and uncomfortable cheap recliner and feed them pain medication in hopes of numbing their dull experience. All the while, the patient is vomiting and in extreme pain while your nursing staff hangs out at their desk and chit chat their personal lives. Taking a whopping 13 hours to complete blood work, one x-ray, and convincing the patient to stay up 13 hours through the night, might I remind you 2 days after surgery, in an uncomfortable recliner while they wait for a doctor to deliver ultrasound results. Resulting in an attempt to make a complaint with the nurses, but being interrupted and fed an ultimatum to sign off on refusing medical advice so that the patient could return home and get rest in comfort. I wish there was a proper method to filing a complaint. I am now 27 hours without sleep as I watch my significant other suffer due to your incoherence and ignorance. Shame on you.

Bad emergency service. Building is lack of signals and indication boards to find the place. Doctors are lazy. came in 10pm and back to home 6am second day. 8 hours for emergency service. corrupted AHS system to waste our tax money.

Only hospital to go to in Southern Alberta if you have a serious injury or illness.

Felt extremely forced and pressured to get a surgery that I still don’t completely understand why I had to get. When they went to put an IV In my arm I was so dehydrated and cold that they couldn’t find any good veins, they put warm blankets on my arms to help however, the nurses wouldn’t come back for another hour or so to try the IV again and by that point my veins were too hard to find once again. They poked me so many times while I cried because it hurt and I’m scared of needles. When I told the nurse to stop and try the other arm ( after being poked and prodded about 5 times) she simply dropped everything she was doing and left the room. I told them I was type one diabetic, and that I had zero dietary restrictions and they still only fed me one hard boiled egg and a mini box of all bran cereal for breakfast, while my other roommates were receiving oatmeal, fruit and coffee. Only a few of the staff there were compassionate and understanding of my stress, however the majority treated me like an animal and I felt very uncomfortable during my entire stay. Sent me home with very little instruction on how to take care post operation. Google has been more helpful than the “professional” doctors at this facility.

Worst place to go in emergency, I was mistreated even after long hours waiting. I was flabbergasted to see Doctor misbehaving. Unsophisticated staff, no temperature screening at the entrance, you don't know if u r sitting among Covid Patients. Staff seems to be dupming their own frustration on Patients. AHS should read the reviews, we pay tax for service not for their stupid behavior.

Foothills Medical Centre Hospital staff saved my wife's life. That is no little thing, it was medical expertise and a bed and she survived. There is always room for constructive criticism and improvement as funds become available to expand. If you want to see nurses standing around holding up the walls is at the Drumheller, However I think that things are improving.

Fantastic hospital! If you need a hospital in Calgary this is the place to go! The staff are fantastic and the clinic services are top notch!! However,, on April 5 2018, on floor 9, unit 92 I had a very confrontational red headed nurse during a routine angiogram. She expressed judgement on me without knowing anything about me, and offered me life advice.(note: after some due diligence her life advice was 100% inaccurate!) "Thank you my little red headed nurse, it was nice chatting with you and hopefully we will never cross paths again!" Terrible experience.

I recently had my gallbladder removed (open surgery instead of laparoscopic) and spent four days in the Foothills Hospital. Although I had to share my room with three other people (which I think is wrong - there should be single patient rooms for privacy and comfort reasons, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the hospital) the care I received from the exceptional nurses on Unit 41B was the best! I had a really rough first night following my surgery and the care I received from the nurses was both efficient and compassionate. I made sure to walk a lot post-op and was constantly encouraged and cheered on by the very friendly staff. It made me feel good about myself, even at a time when I physically felt awful. Kindness from staff really means a lot to me whenever I am stuck in the hospital, and the nurses on Unit 41B are the kindest! My surgeon Dr Dixon, and his team did a great job removing my useless gallbladder, and went out of their way to ensure I wasn't afraid in the operating room. They were all amazing! Foothills Hospital is a fine facility. The only tiny complaint I have is the lack of decent food at any of the food establishments, but it's a hospital so I'm not there for a culinary experience! The gift shops are full of cute gifts and things to keep patients occupied until they are discharged. All in all, I was pleased with my stay at Foothills! I've also had a couple of stays at Rockyview General Hospital and it's also a good hospital. Calgary is fortunate to have several high quality hospitals!

I waited for more than 4 hours in the “Emergency” department and then left cause they just let anyone in with no order????

Robert Kearney

Psychiatry unit is full over quack doctors forcefully pushing pills and injections into people. DrWatterson is a quack doctor who misdiagnosed me and even went as far as to making up an entire story to go with it, which in turn has made my life more difficult. Very Bad practice.

We got our second from there. We are really amazed with the service and help from this hospital. It will be a life lobg memory for us. The nurse and doctor arw so helpful. High quality service.

The worst service I have ever seen and received in my life. Don't waste your time even if the waiting time is for 30 minutes because it will end up being 4 hours. If you want to see a doctor, you will have to fake cry and tell them that your pain level is 10, otherwise expect yourself to be in the waiting room and at the other waiting room that is inside for 4+ hours. I waited in the emergency room in pain for 3 hours just to see a nurse in the other waiting room.Whats the point of going to the inside waiting room when you are going to wait even more? Instead of legalizing weed, the government should do something about this messed up health care. Even the second world countries have better health care system, less waiting times, and you can get an MRI done in almost every hospital. SMH.

One of the worst experience in my life!!!! My mom was about to give birth and she was told a room would be ready for her in a few hours at about 12am, they came at 12 saying that the room would be ready at 3am, later they came and postponed for 7am. At 7 in the morning they told her there is no room available for at least 24 hours. How in the world you say that to a lady that was ready to give birth in any minute. They treated her disrespectfully, looking at her differently and treating her differently just because we're immigrants from Europe! They were misleading us with lots of information and the baby had to suffer a lot because of lack of communication between the nurses! Only one nurse gave us correct information and was truly nice towards us! We're new to Alberta and this was our first , really bad experience! DISAPPOINTED!!!

E P

If I could give zero stars I would. Came there with early pregnancy miscarriage and bleeding. Waited for 7 hours (!) and had to leave without seeing a doctor. Hey, I understand that my case was not life-threatening. But at least have decency to tell me so instead of keeping us waiting for hours. The next day I went to the South Health Campus Urgent Care and was seen by a doctor in less than an hour!

Dominic House

From the minute we got there (with my wife for her minor surgery). The entire staff were very reassuring and caring. We met the OR staff and they were all great. When my wife walked into the OR , she said it was like going into someone's home. Each person introduced themselves and were very friendly making the OR less scary. She felt at home when she saw Dr Chandarana. He is such a gentle person. She had lots of nausea so the recovery room staff kept her as long as they could. They were so friendly. Her ward 41B was very clean and the two young ladies doing the cleaning were very thorough especially when one of her room mates was discharged. The nurses, Tiffany, May and Catherine, were all excellent. The assistants, Mila and Evelyn, were very attentive and caring. There was another one whose name escapes us was the best. She even went to the staff roomkitchen and made her toast to go with the liquids.

Sheri Kent

Had to have some emergency tests done ....from the moment I came in ..the staff were kind and amazing....so tentative. The entire process moved along smoothly.Kind doctors and nurses relieved my anxiety. Thank you for everything!!! A pleasant experience

Thank you for your care while I was recovering from a broken back. The surgeon did an amazing job, and It looks as if the scar will be barely noticeable. All the nurses on the 10th floor (unit 101) were kind and caring and did everything to help make me comfortable.

Michael Hahn

Quality care is irregular, wait times are far too long, and medical history is not examined to a great extent. Nurses seem overworked and tired.

Gevin Baking

My wife delivered our first born here and they took great care of us. Huge shout out to the team that delivered my baby and the NICU team. I wish I remembered all the nurses names but, On top of my head were *jordanne * stephanie *rosseane *athena and *josh. Many thanks guys!

Samuel Muriuki

They offer great health care. Wait times are a bit long.

I go to the north tower every other week for counseling and I'm very grateful for it being there. Everyone that works on the 6 floor seem to be genuinely good natured people who care. Much gratitude

Amazing facility, Lovely and helpful volunteers and staff. Can you imagine all is wasted because of some useless nurses (Although some are great) who are busy gossiping, rather than patient care (probably because the Union! take care of them any how).

Today I visited the emergency room in the foothills hospital because of my chronic medical condition and I was ignored for hours after being admitted finally I had blood drawn and I saw a nurse. Then a doctor after seeing a doctor he said he was going to make a call and come back after I waited for more then 2 hours they also neglected to tend to an older woman when she was extremely uncomfortable until I said something the nurse's had a horrible bed side manner I will not be coming to this facility again This was a horrible experience.

I've NEVER been treated with such disrespect in my 40 years on this planet! I barely made it there as I was in so much pain, I couldn't put my shoes on. I went straight to "Triage" & this very ugly poor soul! (She has blonde shaved hair on the sides of her head) I was trying to explain myself & she kept cutting me off, She was so rude and ignorant. I understand they deal with a lot of people but in this case there was NOBODY behind me & she was NOT letting me explain myself, Miss Superior was record-breaking insulting. I mean, I didn't go there for a joke. My shoes were full of blood & my stitches broke but this monster was above all. I'm a # & she is queen but damn is she so very ugly inside & out. This is the first time I EVER leave a review online. I asked security to keep that freak away from me & yet she came @ me again to try and argue!!?? Wow... I had to leave & go to a different hospital. I crawled out to my car & drove to Rockyview Hospital. FIVE minutes literally, after arriving they gave me 2 percocets as they seen my pain. My feet were BLUE & PURPLE! My pants were bloody. I am home now and I have a prescription for 10 little oxycontin for 5 days & Percocet for the rest of the month & I can now breathe, move, clean my cuts, etc.... I need to be careful of what I say online of course but you can imagine what I'm thinking!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL! If you're wearing a shirt & Tie and walk in with the Mayor. MAYBE you'll get respect but besides that GO ELSEWHERE! I am personally going to find out this creatures name & explain this story in better details to a CRIMINAL LAWYER! This is one time I won't just "let it go" sorry!!! I feel as a human being that she is a 101% BI*CH & should not work with the public. I'll feel better soon & press criminal charges. I suffer from an anxiety disorder on top of that. I had to come home & take my Clonazapam right away! My wife witnessed parts of this as she arrived later but for now, I really hope her supervisor can read this, soon I will get a lawyer as unlike she's classified me (Broke & Drug Abusing) It's the opposite, I own a successful company & I do not enjoy alcohol or drugs. I'M DISGUSTED! I Give this Hospital a -10 out of 100 :( VERY SAD PLACE...

Horrible Experience. My girlfriend and I arrived at 10 pm last night (a Monday) because she was having pain to the point of hyperventilating. We went to “Emergency” expecting to see a doctor within an hour, maybe two at most. Well we ended up spending 5 hours in “Emergency” only to find out that my girlfriend should take some ibuprofen. Further, at 2:45 am - before seeing the doctor - I decided to try and ask a nurse what was going on and how much longer it was going to be and one of the nurses decide to give me attitude by saying that “well nothing has changed since the last time we told you 30 seconds ago!” (Which they had not let us know anything) I felt completely disrespected as a person and frankly not safe in a place that I believe should be their number 1 priority. I am very disappointed with the way we were treated at the Foothills Medical Center and I will never go there again.

Adam West

there was this one dyke in emergency who was really hostile and should not be working there, swears and is really rude. just don't expect niceness

Been going there since 1975 nd has always been the best hospital in Alberta at least. Most likely western Canada ❣️♥️????????

No complaints about staff or facility, however waiting over 6 hours to see a doctor for 2 minutes diagnosis is NOT a good service or experience. It bothered me more for other patients suffering while waiting even longer than me. Hospital are worst to attend for walking care... But again what choices are there at 4:30am... I though get there early so I can be at work in time... What a mistake. Looked liked 1 hour extra waitimg time with the sound of each ambulance. With BILLIONS spent on healthcare, I am sure they can afford to hire a designated doctor for non-trauma emergency patients during non-regular hours.

Tammy Lever

Waiting 8 hours in emergency with my mom who has 2 cracks and a break in her pelvis. Still haven't seen a Doctor. Totally do not understand their priority system. Won't come here again.

Stayed for 3 months driving 3 hours a day to come see my dad. Nurses were terrible as they didn't pay attention to my dad and if I wasn't there he would've went into a diabetic coma.. so many terrible things that I shouldn't stay on here. I'll just say that the signs that say "abuse is not tolerated" is wrong. Therapists are amazing though, thanks guys:)

Sunny Wellington

Our family has had multiple visits here. Two kidney transplants, 3 week stay in the cardio unit, dialysis, emergency injury care etc. If you are visiting for consecutive days get a parking pass - it will be cheaper. Great cafeterias, cafe, art, pharmacy... For the most part the care has been excellent. The facility is much cleaner than others I have been in! Neat to see the helicopter come in on the landing pad.

The care I received for my injury was nothing less than amazing. The nurses especially Leo, were very caring and attended to me as if I were family. The food was hands down the best hospital food I'd ever gotten and although nobody wants to go to a hospital, I'd feel really at ease if Foothills Medical Center is where I needed to go. I wanted to post a great review for them because I've been too many hospitals and this was one of the best.

thakur satbir

Doctors, nurses and other support staff including volunteers are very good. The biggest issue is the waiting time. You would not get attended if the emergency nurses do not feel your condition is critical and life threatening. The building is old and needs to be upgraded. Also there is new parking lot and cancer center in close vicinity coming up in few years.

george odeh

I called last week to see my Dr thus week. When I arrived at the clinic I was told that I will see a different Dr as mi e was away. I asked why no one told me, the lady at reception was so vocal about it and she said no you were told. No one told me anything. I took the day off to see my Dr and I go the coldest people giving me hard time accusing me of lying. The Dr I saw was so cold and did not understand my frustration.

I want to give the Cardiovascular staff an the wonderful ladies on floor ten at the Deerfoot Hospital for being so great an fitting me in at last minute to put in a stint an performing a job that otherwise would have been open heart surgery. You people are amazing and I thank you from the botton of my heart "literally." Thank You.

Connor Grey

As a medical professional myself I would highly recommend getting a second opinion after seeing Doctor Nickerson. His version of practicing medicine includes treatment plans boardering on medical negligence. An early Sunday morning appointment ended up a complete and utter waste of time as we'll be having to get a second opinion anyway. And all of this after the emergency doctor was shocked, said he couldn't suture and it would need a skin graft or it would never heal. Nothing was given for pain and with the nurses there was a general aire of annoyance over having to do their job. All in all a horrendous experience at the McCaig Minor Surgery Unit of the Foothills Hospital. I will be warning everyone I know to go anywhere else.

Had a tonsillectomy done here march 26th and my anesthesiologist and surgeon were great. I was then left in the recovery area for 4 hours under the care of a nurse named Fatima, she first berated me for using the bathroom without asking, then told me I had to keep my tight, itchy blood pressure cuff on the whole time because she didn't want to spend 30 seconds to put it on when she'd come check my blood pressure once an hour. Another nurse took over for an hour while Fatima left for her break and had no problem with me removing the cuff. Fatima then came back and berated me for removing my cuff, I had just come back from the bathroom and obviously would have had to remove this cuff. Upon my discharge she seemed purposely rough removing my IV, jerking it this way and that causing massive bruising. When I asked for my after care pamphlet that was mentioned in this sheet I got from my surgeon, she told me they didn't have any and that I can "[...]just gargle with salt water or something, go home and Google it". Terrible care, and btw if you google tonsillectomy after care it mentions that you should absolutely avoid gargling or anything that can be strenuous on your throat. I could have caused myself pain and bleeding if I listened to her. Why become a nurse if you're going to treat patients like they're a personal burden to you?

I am going through worst time of my life been on streets now forl four days no food I went there because I am feeling suicidal and they said next morning I am cleared by doctor and have to leave all I want is some help so now I'm back on street suicidal don't know we're to turn for help

We went into emergency on Christmas Eve for my boyfriends depression. The social worker was great but the doctor wasn’t present at all and didn’t seem interested in what he had to say. My boyfriend felt dismissed and soon after the doctor sent him home with a pamphlet to make an appointment with the psychiatric ward to get some treatment at a later date with no help immediately. We called on Boxing Day as soon as we could and we were told they would call us back to arrange an appointment. We called back a week later as we hadn’t heard anything and they told us they threw out his file. This is why mental health is such an issue. My boyfriend now feels like he has to seek help elsewhere for likely a steeper fee as the public health care system doesn’t seem to be any help. I’m appalled at the lack of care given to someone with a mental health. People with mental health issues CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN AND CANNOT SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS.

Jaye Malani

Service was disgusting. My wife got sick and because she doesn’t have the health card, we had to pay (which is totally fine) but nurses who didn’t attend my wife, doctors who kept getting out of nowhere but charging me 150/100$. My wife was treated very badly and After spending the night there, we came out without even a diagnostic. I will put this complaint higher as the AHS didnt care AT ALL.

Hell on Earth. Was sent directly by my oncologist with a severe liver infection and blocked biliary duct. Was forced to wait with covid patients for three hours in excruciating pain in a wheelchair. We even begged to allow me to lie on the floor but was refused. Staff were mean and intimidating and I was going into shock. Eventually was given a bed and then promptly forgotten. Instead of seeing a doctor they have me sedatives to knock me out. By the time I saw a doctor I was at serious risk.

I came to Foothills with suspected appendicitis, when I met with the doctor he insisted that it could be anything, so they did blood tests. The nurse then escorted me back to the main waiting area, where I sat for 4 hours, I went to ask the nurse how much longer she thought I would be waiting and she informed be that the doctor reported he had already discussed my blood work with me and had discharged me 3 hours ago. I then went to the South Health Campus, and after an Ultrasound (which they refused to do at foothills) and then a CT Scan they confirmed it was my appendix and removed it immediately. My care was not taken seriously at foothills and because of this they put my life in danger. Thanks for nothing guys.

Keep on doing the Good Work.

Some inconvenience due to covid but staff very efficient. Waiting area too cold on cold day. Consider rnstalling air curtains for cold days. ( ask Engineered Air ) . Too many ambulance staff waiting with patients. We need to train new staff to do that job so most ambulances can return to duty. Stretchers in hallway are not the answer

Great experience with the ER, very quick and got to see a doctor ASAP. Nurse was quite rude and snappy when we left, but with the stress they’re under it’s understandable

I just spent 2 days in Foothills hospital due to a rare cervical ectopic pregnancy and needing an emergency blood transfusion and D&C. Aside from the emotional first time pregnancy experience and loss , my husband and I had to share how great all of the doctors and nurses were! From the moment I passed out in triage and got rushed into emergency, to the OR and then to recover in Unit 42 (gyno) ... the care from the nurses and doctors in every department that I received was nothing but amazing! I wish I could remember all of their names but I was taken care of by several health professionals who were very personable and professional and the past 2 days were kind of a blur. It was a very scary and emotional experience but I felt like I was in great hands as soon as I entered the emergency doors. A big thank you to all the nurses and doctors at Foothills for getting me back to health❤ - Marcy

I will never, ever return to the Foothills Emergency room. I went a few months ago, my first time every having to go to Emergency, for a mental health episode. I was made to sit for hours in little more than a jail cell, and when I decided I didn't want to wait any longer, though I was not violent or threatening, I was violently subdued by 4 security guards, which has left me with a fear of hospitals and nerve damage that I now have to treat. No one helped me at all. Would give no stars of possible.

The doctors killed a baby because of there bad doctors

I came to the hospital, under advisement from both my doctor and the woman who took my covid test after explaining my symptoms. I would never have gone if not for those two people. I first off did not want to waste valuable time for the doctors and nurses nor money resources. Immediately it was apparent my symptoms were not consistent with serious covid issues. Now this is my third covid test, first time I had pneumonia (in March) and a jumpy doctor at an after hour clinic sent me to hospital for xrays after taking my first test. Second I called 811 at the beginning of August with symptoms (ending up being the flu, we think) suggested I go and get a test. This last bout was not only bc recurring symptoms but I woke up feeling like someone was sitting on my chest and a burning sensation in my chest, again I call 811 and was advised to take yet another test! This is when my Dr told me to go to hospital to get an O2 reading, which I dutifully did. A nurse comes in takes my vitals and thankfully my O2 level is normal as well as everything else but she's talking to me like I've just wasted her time. Next enters a technician and starts taking blood(which did not happen the last time I went to the hospital in March) I asked what the blood work was for but was met with very vague answers. When the emerg doc entered my room (keep in mind my chest hurts and it hurts to talk) I was hit with a barrage of questions but was never given a chance to answer fully bc I was cut off repeatedly with other questions. Finally he gets to the point and says he's viewed my medication history (I take Percocet for chronic pain), and in short order it becomes clear he has already made a diagnosis that has NOTHING to do with why I'm sitting in a cold room, scared bc my doctor and 811 (the test collector) says I need to be there. Without fully coming out and saying it he's treated me like I'm an attention seeking, drug addict! And then abruptly leaves for a medical emergency. After then a nurse and another doctor comes in, I ask why the previous doctor was so hostile to me, of course they would have no answer. They start asking me how I was in a place with co2, which NEVER came up in any conversation. Thankfully my husband was in the room with me to verify how the original doctor behaved and what happened. Clearly none of my answers were heard while being questioned at least three times prior! All of a sudden a social worker comes in to ask how Im feeling and excuses the emerg doc for his busy night (completely understandable for the emerg doc but does not explain why a social worker is asking me questions!). After four hours the doc comes back and has a change of heart apparently bc I and my husband are being treated with kindness and patience. I can only infer that my blood test came back showing I'm not a drug addict nor am I abusing my medication, I take it very seriously! End result was it was a waste of my time bc we left close to 5 hours later and a waste of the employees at the hospitals time. If they don't want concerned citizens coming to hospital then the screening for 811 needs to be improved and the advise of either "call 911 or go immediately to the hospital" should not be thrown out like Kleenex to worried patients. I felt personally attacked, and my anxiety was through the roof. I could not understand why I met with such aggressive behaviour (not just by the emergency doctor but by the original nurse). I hate hospitals and this experience has left me with if I was on deaths door I would not go back willingly!

My wife has been going through cancer treatment for the second time in her life; most of her treatments were at the Foothills/Tom Baker centre. Our experience with medical staff has been first class and although I understand that issues exist in the Alberta health care system, it was not evident in the quality of care we received and I salute you for that. The glaring exception to this is the prevalence of smokers that linger everywhere on the hospital grounds irrespective of no smoking signage. I have been quite vocal with some of these offenders who routinely smoke under or very close to the abundant “no smoking” signs and received a lot of abusive flak from these offenders. It is tragic for patients coming and going for medical treatments (especially cancer) and have to be subjected to defiant smokers. Patients and caregivers should not have to advocate or enforce their basic right to not have to deal with this added burden to their health issues. Your security personnel are very proficient when it comes to parking enforcement but are conspicuous in their absence with respect to the no smoking rules. From a purely financial perspective I can see the rationale in this “selective enforcement” but the optics for a health care centre are puzzling to say the least.

Had a major hernia repair and everyone was fantastic. Despite the abuse some of these nurses received, they were all amazing. I was well taken care of and treated with the utmost respect.

Almost everyone is rude and mean, you should all be ashamed. This review is made mostly out of stress, anger, and sadness, but it's still true

Dara Dueck

Was a victim of a major fire incident in the building I was residing in and was suffering from what I thought to be smoke inhalation and some trauma, unfortunately, this hospital resorted to gaslighting tactics and resorted to the wrong treatment and the wrong 'label'. Still spending out of pocket money away from this sham of a system to straighten the misdiagnosis out. They wouldn't even bring me cold medication. Also worth noting, people who are AHS workers, do get preferential treatment in the hospital system. The nurses took my eyeglasses away from me and threw out my expensive contact lenses. They don't even supply dental floss, deodorant and hair conditioners. And I got a small cavity because of it. The system is also racist. Doesn’t matter to them if you equally have paid your taxes, they bully patients. When going there, you’re just serving the staff so they can see how many out of country trips they can milk you out of. They online shop on the job also. They bribe patients by taking money and buying them a pizza and stealing their flowers. The sad part is, a lot of these staff members are suffering from mental illness, and they admit to it. They also have stated they are with the Nazis. They also tattle on patients and wrongly report them to security so the wrong patient gets taken away to the minimum security jail centre with a police officer - while the instigator gets away. I'd have to say that in the 20 some years I was stuck with them, the doctors definitely reproduced themselves with multiple babies and nannies and world vacations. Got promotions also. Best to know your rights and just walk away. They are a biased and a selfish danger. Also worth noting - when the Hospital administers surveys to patients, they purposely do not include all the departments. Especially if they are problem departments. This skews the public perception of their Effectiveness and Efficiency. They HIDE the Truth. This REALLY needs to be reviewed and evaluated by a 3rd Party Arms Length Agency for all purposes of objectiveness. NOT AHS itself.

the mental health services at this place are awful. here's a few things that happened while i was hospitalized in the inpatient mental health units over the course of 2.5 months: - they almost completely ignored me when i made it clear to my assigned team there what i wanted to address in my stay there; instead the psychiatric team ignored the symptoms i had described just slapped a "unspecified anxiety disorder" diagnosis onto my file with no evaluation and left it at that. i never once mentioned anxiety during my intake. - i was forcibly admitted into the mental health unit against my will despite the nurse at emergency stating that there were multiple options that did not involve hospitalization. at some point after discussing the options another nurse declared that i had to be hospitalized. this all happened very early in the morning and i wasn't even offered a chance to sleep during all of this - i was physically dragged out of my room by several nurses into what was effectively a jail cell with no privacy, tied to a bed, and tranquilized via injection, all because i was having a completely nonviolent panic attack caused by distrust from previous experiences there. from then on they didn't allow me access to ANY of the things i brought with me to the hospital (INCLUDING CLOTHES AND TOILETRIES), despite the fact that all of it was deemed safe when screened at the beginning of my admission. it took my mother giving them a piece of her mind for me to get my bare essentials back, including things that they constantly berated patients in the unit (myself included during this period of time) for not using. - and last but not least, they didn't expect patients to wear a mask during covid times. this would not be a problem at all if it weren't for the fact that the nurses (the only people allowed outside of the unit) rampantly violated basic mask protocol by wearing them under their noses and pulling them down to speak to people within close range, to name a few examples. additionally, i had a few covid scares during my admission and had to be tested multiple times for one of them because the nurse kept doing it incorrectly, only to find out that they had, in fact, been doing the wrong kind of test the whole time. and that's just things that happened to me as one of the oldest people admitted (it was the adolescent psych wards, so i legally didn't even have the same rights as adults under the Mental Health Act). it was a regular experience to see nurses dragging off crying teenagers and locking them away claiming they're a danger to others, despite the fact that all potential weapons are confiscated upon entry, and that all of the kids i saw this happen to were smaller than most of the nurses and often just reacting to the situation they'd been forced into. in conclusion, if you want a mental health unit experience that makes your teenager come out even more hopeless than before, this is the perfect place to go.

Long wait times even if your sent to emergency by your doctor. Was sent away with a different diagnosis and left with questions. So now I have to go to another hospital to see if I can get answers and proper care for my fractured arm. The reception was helpful and people were nice but they seem focused on Covid and regular emergencies are falling through the cracks.

Once you've passed the emergency the hospital staff is fantastic. It took me two attempts to get my 1st MS episode recognized and not too long ago I got sent home with a severe flue, pneumonia and pneumothorax. I'm off work since two and a half month now and I'm still fighting infections. Could have been dealt with a lot earlier.... Not even mentioning the wait times. I'm disappointed by the emergency. I'll go somewhere else next time.

Saeideh Mn

No respect for patients. Asking questions a billion times by the pre-visit trainee's is somewhat ok. But making the patient undergo examination two times by the trainee itself and then the doctor again?? I was so mad and didn't know what to say... THIS IS SO RUDE! patient is not free experimental unit!!

best hospital experience I've ever had , took my guy to emerge tuesday night got in there at 7;30 an out at 11;30 blood work, cat scan everything completed ,the nurse Shannon was the sweetest most compassionate nurse an she deserves a raise

Marissa j Vanderberg

This hospital is absolute trash... my grandmother was there for a month and she passed away just yesterday... the hospital is extremely unorganized and almost all the nurses just stand there, they don’t do their job at all... my grandma was discharged when they knew that she was not in a state to be released. to be honest it seems like they don’t care about your well being they just want you out ( my grandma was back to the hospital in less than a week)... aside from the people rarely doing their jobs the hospital, it is not sanitary for, example when the nurses or doctors came in to give my grandma medication they left stuff such as a half full IV bag on the ground a needle package and one of the nurses said that one of the grandchildren should not sit on the bed because there could be medication residue... let’s think about that if you didn’t put stuff on the bed and you actually knew how to do your job properly that wouldn’t be an issue... one more problem we had is once my grandma actually passed away the nurse came in and said another nurse would come to check and make sure there was no pulse which fine but the problem is that nurse came 25 MINUTES LATER... then a senior resident came in and asked if we needed anything my uncle asked for a bag and she said just ask your nurse. The last problem I have is the food I’m surprised that they are allowed to serve it ... it is terrible and it smells really bad too and aside from the fact that it’s barely edible all the cafeterias at this hospital close very early, ... so in conclusion I would not go to this hospital and this is not just one bad experience I have gone to this hospital multiple times and there always seems to be a problem.

Waited 4 hours to see a nurse and 3 more to get into a room that I am in now. I am currently watching the doctor goofing around with his coworkers while my girlfriend lies here in pain. Maybe have a bit more professionalism, the doctor didn't even care when he did get to us, just kind of brushed it off like it was nothing. Thanks.

Staff are rude and extremely unhelpful! Was treated terribly from the second they saw me based on the fact that I'm a "young adult". Was ignored, put off, and lied to.. At the end of the day, what you look like shouldn't matter to someone who's their to do their job... which is to HELP people... As I said, I couldn't get a straight answer and once I got it, realized I was flat out lied to by many other employees.. Over all, incredibly disappointed with the staff as a whole.... Terrified to ever have to go back... staff if more terrifying than the idea of injury! The facility is absolutely beautiful though. :p

I am amazed with how attentive they were with me! I used to frequent the emergency rooms in Edmonton and no matter how much pain I am in I’m sitting there for hours with no attention I went to foothills the other night and within 5 minutes I was in a room and hooked up to a machine to monitors and then minutes later I had an IV started already. I went in mainly for chest pains and they did multiple different tests to figure out what was going on. All of the staff was so kind which made things so much easier as it was my first time going to emerg alone. I am so grateful for everyone who helped me out last night !

I'm a relative of a family member who had just recently lost her husband just last night, and our experience at the hospital was absolutely horrible. She was told (because of Covid precautions) that any updates will be given over a phone call, and to visit her husband, she would have to fully dress up (mask, shield and all, which is fine) because of a Covid case across the floor. We were okay with this, so we just stuck to visiting him via FaceTime and calling the nurse's office for updates. Here's the thing; the nurse never, and I mean NEVER gave us a single update over the two weeks we had our relative in the hospital. When we would call in to ask for updates, the receptionist would tell us that the nurses were busy (which is understandable, but we heard this each time) and would definitely call us back... we never got a single call back. NOT EVEN ONE. When our relative passed away, his sons and wife went to say final goodbyes. When they got there, they were instantly asked by a nurse to put on all of the protective equipment, TO SAY GOODBYE TO A DECEASED PERSON. She didn't even think before to provide some consoling or cause of death for them! The lack of empathy and communication these nurses had with us during this two-week nightmare was absolutely ridiculous, and this issue has to be fixed so no other family has to go through the same thing as us. Shame on you!

Never go to emergency. You might die while waiting for your turn.

Delivered my baby there couple of days ago. All of the nurses, doctors are great, very helpful and profesional.

Not a good place. Unsanitary conditions for anyone with any infections. Doctors do not discuss treatment plans or medications provided to patients with patients. Make sure to ask to see documentation on medication provided to you. In my case I was allergic to it. Also ensure they replace your bandages operations daily. They will most likely try to push you towards the most expensive Ozperations they ca instead of caring about your health and comfort. If you are given a choice don't go.

By far the worst place for parking. More then half is reserved for staff and UofC you will most likely spend more time finding parking then actually being at the hospital. Still have pretty fault helping time when injured or having an appointment.

I was brought in for a broken ankle. The EMS were great. Sat in the hallway for a while but considering how busy it was, they were pretty fast. They tried fixing my ankle put a cast on and sent me home. Went back to the cast clinic the following week they put a new cast on then took X-rays ????To find out I needed surgery. Waited on the day surgery and waiting room for four days before I got in for surgery. This was very frustrating. However when the time came they gave excellent care. Still recovering from surgery now waiting for yet another cast

From the very first meeting with the Sarcoma team, we were certain that Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Foothills Hospital were the places to be. My husband was treated by an amazing team of cancer and plastic surgeons; a swift oncology program and a caring, compassionate, nursing staff. Plus as a huge bonus, we were able to access a room in the Hostel and stay on site for his radiation treatments. People who have any complaints about their stays at these facilities should take a reality check and be grateful that they have access to these professionals who have huge responsibilities for the planning of a successful outcome for hundreds of patients.

Adon Gardner

My preferred hospital in Calgary. Only complaint is that the ER wait time is a little long (came in at midnight and had a 3hr wait), and once it was finally my turn, I was placed in a curtained off room where I could hear the conversations of everyone else around me (and presumably they could hear mine too), which is especially unnerving talking about health issues (and hearing the health issues of others). Aside from that, everything else was good!

Chuck Morin

A very unfortunate event led me to this review. But the help and empathy we got from the nurses and doctors deserves 5 stars. Thank you very much. It cant be easy.

I am so disappointed with the protocol or management of this hospital. There is no empathy or sympathy to the family of the deceased. There is no consistency of your protocol . DO YOUR JOB BETTER!

I have 2 experiences . I will give 5 star for the first one. I miscarried my babies years ago and all the staff are genuinely compassionate. Then the next experience was when I delivered my daughter. The nurse monitoring me was bored and irritated with me as I have no idea the Lamaze breathing. Then after the birth I was using the hospital diapers as I didn’t have the N size. I have number 1. There was this nurse that nagged at me and told me that I should be using my own product. Then I gave birth to my second at Peter Lougheed and the nurses there were wondering why I am not using their products .

Tom Baker Centre and the FootHills hospital. One of the top places to treat cancer patience. Most advance surgical medical treatments are preformed at this location. I strongly recommend this hospital as they have the most advanced and updated technology on the market as well as very experienced and knowledgeable doctors and nurses in North America.

A few comments on the wonderful experience at Labor & Delivery Unit and Postpartum Unit. To begin with, both units have utterly professional teams that explain all the procedures to you and really care about your needs. Special thanks should be given to obstetricians, family doctors, nurses, and lactation consultants. Working together, they saved my child and me as well as supported us after the delivery and through the choice of formula feeding. The other aspect which was important to me was good food for mummy after the labor. I was amazed to taste so delicious yummies and very versatile dishes. The quantity was more than enough for a decent meal. Then, the room. I had a private room which was very spacious, quite modern, and clean (I guess I got it because of not so many patients at the unit in the early morning. In fact, I was the first to arrive.). And, finally, parking. As I have already mentioned, we arrived early, at 2 am. Hence, we had a lot of parking spots to choose. Also, when my husband picked me up (4 pm), he had no problem with the parking. So, to sum up: My family and I are very happy with our Foothills experience, and we definitely recommend it to all the expecting ladies.

My Dad had a Stroke...twice. The emergency staff are awesome, they are the reason he's alive today. In the stroke ward there was some wonderful nurses but there was one who was horrific to my Dad. We were kicked out of his room when they needed to do anything which is understandable. My sister decided to stand at the curtain and listen to what was being said. She was shocked to hear the nurse berating my father on how small his genitals were. That he wasn't a man because of the size. Excuse me! That's sexual abuse and there was nothing we could do as we couldn't just take our Father and leave. So shifts were made up so he was never alone at the hospital after that. Not all the staff are like this but like everything one or two make everyone look bad. They'd have a lawsuit on there hands but my mom and dad are already stressed to the limit. So this is the warning to anyone with loved one in the stroke ward... don't leave them alone.

Had thoracic surgery at the FMC and was so impressed by the compassion, professionalism, and efficiency of the surgical team, staff, and Unit 61 where I recovered. The nurses were excellent. Although the hospital is definitely older and parking is an issue unit the new parkade opens, the medical expertise and care is unbeatable.

Dave Bradley

This is a really well equipped facility but it appears that they've been way over capacity for a very long time. The staff seems to think it's normal to leave someone in a bed in a hallway for 5 days.

Snowhite K

Very sad to say, this place is pretty complicated regarding to the instructions n parking issues. For the new comers, it is pretty tough to be on time due to lack of the signs. Parking should be free until new parkings will be ready. Hospital was build to cure the health issues, not to create more issues!!

If you ever get the option to go to foothills don’t take it. It feels like a dungeoun in there. The nurses are far from nice and they have very unregulated checks on patients. Infections are very likely in the foothills hospital. One of my family members got a deadly blood infection from an unsanitary IV bag There were a few good nurses who liked to crack jokes and make it seem like home in there but the rest are waiting to go home or miserable and rude people Our family had to suggest medications and solutions of helping with his trauma instead of doctors putting in ideas. Instead of helping my family and him believe in living. They would walk into the room and tell him he wouldn’t make it through the day. But he did over and over again. Seton hospital should have been designed to replace the foothills as there has been no good outcomes from the foothills

I can't rate the hospital based on the staff or other patients, because these factors are totally random and vary wildly. I had a great experience, while others may not. So instead I'll say that the hospital as a structure seems decently organized and run, with a huge amount of space and tons of buildings. It can be a chore to navigate and parking is a nightmare. The buildings could use some sprucing up, with ceiling tiles and walls looking drab and worn. Still it's as decent place as any other hospital.

Alexander Scott (RedeemerBlood)

Terrible parking, nothing is marked, idiotic engineering/design. This is the worst hospital/clinic I have ever been to which is saying a lot since my job involves taking clients to various clinics, health appointments throughout the city. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here. I would rather see a back alley surgeon/doctor than ever return here again.

Many of my Family were born in this hospital and have died here as well. I thank all the staff fir all they have done. I do wish the cancer treatments were more ethical and less about money.

I had my baby at Foothills, via c-section, 3 weeks ago and I had an amazing experience overall. The OB surgeon, anesthetist and other staff were friendly, supportive and efficient. My grandson was at the hospital, he had some complications with medication. The Dr saw him & they geld him at the hospital for a few hrs. The thing that upsets me is they gave him some medication treatment & declared him able to leave the hospital. He was groggy, could barely walk or talk & expected in him to find his own way home. WHO DOES THAT!? He doesn't drive so had to rely on a taxi to take him & because of his rough appearance he got shifted to a different driver. He couldn't remember his address but thankfully made it home. I am angry at the Dr for sending him out in that condition!???? Also he overheard the Dr telling the nurses he's just another junky when he isn't! He has mental illnesses!!! I want to email the hospital administrator!

Some parts of the hospital are older, and some brand new. Overall this is one of the bigger hospitals in Western Canada and definitely the hospital you want to be at if you or a loved one falls ill. The staff are highly educated and consistently learning from other staff from all over the world who are interning at the hospital -- since it is the main teaching hospital in Calgary. This hospital houses some state of the art equipment and top doctors in Calgary. I highly recommend the Foothills Hospital.

i would not recommend the dental clinic in foothills to anyone. i was referred to this place by my family doctor in strathmore alberta so i would be able to take my wisdom teeth out through an actual surgery. we made an appointment and when we got there at our scheduled time, the dark haired lady at the desk told us the doctor went home because THEY thought our appointment was at a different time. they then began to tell us they called us multiple times to confirm our appointment but not once did we get any calls, nor any emails confirming the appointment. it was painfully frustrating because my mom had to take work off early and drive out an hour and a half for this consultation only for the dark haired lady to be so dismissive and rude about how upset we were. we agreed on another date a few weeks later and it was a week before our appointment where i got a call to confirm the appointment. the day comes of the appointment and my mom and i are just getting ready to go when the same dark haired lady calls me to tell me the doctor has to switch his days, even though my mom was just on the phone with her yesterday and we only heard of this a few hours til my appointment. clearly disappointed and upset my mom dealt with the lady only for her to not care, be dismissive, and quite frankly rude on the other end of the phone. all i can say is, this place is not reliable and that one lady made both of my experiences there just horrible. if she cant handle being nice and at least caring to upset and disappointed customers, maybe she should be looking at another job. not impressed.

This hospital is a joke. Construction is a mess and its very hard to even navigate into emergency. The nurses in emergency are very rude and unless you are bleeding out they basically just ignore and scowl at you.

Our daughter was born and unfortunately admitted to NICU right away. I just want to say thank you to every doctor, nurse, cleaning staff and everyone else. The nurses go above and beyond the call of duty for those babies. It saddens me that people glorify Justin Beibers and other lesser humans, but nobody knows the names of those who care about our children when we need them the most. I was very fortunate to be in Calgary and close to Foothills when I had a VT attack (racing heart). Everybody there was on this immediately in this emergency room and immediately reversed the problem and 2 days later I had a ICD implanted with continual monitoring of my heart ever since and that was 3 implanted defibrillators and 15 years ago. The Specialists ,Surgeons, Nurses, Technicians and all the other staff from all departments have always been superior in all aspects. I live in the Yukon and come out here for medical appointments at least once a year., I have been offered to be treated in Vancouver and Edmonton over the years but have declined because I would be very Leary about going anywhere else , the quality of care here would be hard pressed to find better. Thank you Foothills for letting me carry on a normal life due to your ongoing care.

For the nicu, triage and postpartum If I could give more stars than 5 I would. Triage- had to come there twice a day for week, every nurse I dealt with was absolutely phenomenal, and took very good care of me Postpartum - was there for 3 days and all the nurses were phenomenal and took amazing care of me and every single one genuinely cared about me being there and helping me recover. Amazing unit. Nicu - I want to rave on and on and on about the nicu. My little man has only been in there for 4 days, and every single nurse I have came across outside of the ones taking care of my guy are so sweet and kind and answer any questions I have and for the 4 that I can remember their names and have been consistently taking care of my little one, they have been over the top exceptional, phenomenal, everything you could think of. Brittany S, Avy, Fiona, & Cheryl thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you guys are doing for my little guy. For the love and care you show him every second of the day. It truly warms my heart knowing he's in such good hands. & you guys dealing with me being there all day everyday means alot too and helping me when I start to cry. You are all amazing . And I want to especially thank Brittany S for everything she's done for my son and I. Out of the kindness of her heart, she started making a scrap book for my son with all his first and a little letter to him and everything else. That means the world to me. And I can't wait for him to grow and come back and see you after he's been released and to tell him all about you when he's older. You are an absolute God send and I thank you for everything you've done for us ♡

I find the doctors are great for the most part. Nursing staff is inconsistent. I had one nurse in nuro on 11 floor. She has no compassion what so effer and training a student nurse. At the same time. Shee had to take me for a quick walk to get my strength up during weekend. At the same time I was very weak and unstable on feet and she quote "if u fall I'm gonna let u fall. " What kind of nurse r u . I understand I'm a disabled person and theres no need for the abusive.

In Feb and Sept I spent time as a patient in pandemic at the Foothills Hospital. For over 20 years before that I spent time there with my sister Karen as an outpatient, she was ravaged by crohns disease and died at 53 in 2018. My mother died the month before her both in the ICU. I have known more doctors, nurses and other patients than I can count. Now I have crohns at 61 and I have a team of health care professionals taking care of me and they are amazing. I have seen the stress of covid on their faces but never when face to face with me. They are supporting each other, lifting each other up, working in teams like never before. They are all brave and exceptional as I watch them work I have never had more respect for them. They have served my family through life and death, they are there for you when the worst strikes your family too. We all need to show them respect, care and kindness because that is what they give us when we mask up and go through those doors. Yesterday's protesters broke my heart and that is not easy to do.

extremely slow service, i had to wait in the hallway with my family for like 30 minutes and when we got called in we had to wait again.. Bad service. and when my family calls the hospital to check on my mother they say she is to sick to talk. she is clearly not. if my mother was to sick to talk she would not be able to talk in general.

NEVER EVER let an ambulance take you to or go to Foothills Emergency on a weekend night. Two few doctors and all suffering from battle fatigue. Multiple drug overdoses that require immediate attention so if you are experiencing chest pain and have a history of heart disease you are at the bottom of the line.

I had day surgery here and I was scared and nervous at first but every single nurse, doctor, staff member and anesthesiologist I talked to was extremely nice and so accommodating to my wants and needs despite my surgery delayed 3 hours. Filthy!!! I'm shocked as with these times cleaning should be a priority. The floors r filthy, no one is sanitizing anything after anyone comes in and leaves. There is no social distancing. No one is wearing gloves. Long wait times, even after being sent here by a dr.

I just want to say thank you to everyone there for saving my life. I am so grateful. To those who complain about the long wait times, maybe you should try voting in a government that doesn't cut medical funding so much. Worst care I have ever received in my life, was in severe pain after a hysterectomy and an anaphylactic allergic reaction to something waited 3 hours in agonizing pain before receiving any type of pain medication, was the worst experience of my life and zero compassion from the nurse, get another job if you are going to treat people that way.

Excellent medical care. Clean comfortable and classic facility

Khadija Habibi

Worst experience ever. 5:45 min wait time without knowing from what i m suffering, no communication no doctors even that i have a letter from the walk-in clinic doctor saying that it s urgent and i can die. I had a lot of pain, crying and having a background of depression no one cared. i went to see the nurse guess what she said people wait for 6 hours and more, i said i don’t mind waiting but just communicate with us tell is what next, she didn’t care at all and she said ok if you want to go just sign this paper (no emotion, no consolation nothing…). Paying a lot of taxes to have such a service shame on you Calgary.

The foothills medical centre hires very incompetent doctors and nurses. Trainees have complained of how nurses and doctors behave. Lots of arrogance , rasicim and carelessness towards the needs of patients . It is a hospital that urgently needs alberta health to reasses the nurses and doctors qualifications and monitor their progress . It has been noted that doctors argue about each other's opinion regarding proper diagnoses . Their actions are more based on assumptions rather than facts such as proper testing and detailed diagnosing . Managers and nurses in charge bring their home personal problems to work and deal with patients based on how they feel on their working day. If they had a bad day at home then the possibility that their colleagues and patients will face some of that negative feeling they came to work with . Labour and post partum specifically is a no no . If you plan on delivering there then you most propably will be mistreated if you have any kind of post delivery complications. Private rooms that cost $185 a day are garbage. Countertops are damaged and air circulation is very poor in these rooms , if you are isolated in one of these rooms due to a contagious illness such as the flu or pneumonia you will be treated like an animal with minimal contact not to mention the doctors who have no expertise in your condition walk in an fill your IV with unnecessary meds . The dumbest nurses on earth roam this area , give you pain killers and then ask you if you have pain . Similar to a scientist who removed a cockroach four legs and wondered why it can't walk anymore. Nurses that can't get a needle in from the first try and make you suffer . If you plan to deliver in this hospital I highly recommend you go to another hospital even if it's a 20 min drive . South campus, PLC upgraded their department .The doctor you are following up your pregnancy with might not be the same doctor that will deliver you . If you want to know how poor foothills post partum is, visit it and then go to the other hospitals , you will be astonished to how old and disgusting foothills is. They can't get anything right . Even the new parkade they made infront of the emergency has not recieved approval because it's construction has a defect and it's floors sunk . Parking is a major problem in foothills . Most of the occupied spaces are by staff. Foothills medical centre operates under a poor management that is careless in monitoring their doctors achievements and success .

So wrong...to the nurses, you CHOSE a profession that actually specifies that in the process of doing your job, you do no harm. The hospital post signs requiring the "customers", to not be rude or disrespectful. Your google and yelp reviews show that there is a problem with the staff at your hospital. If this was a business, which it is, it would be out of business, if there was a boss, which there is, there would be a lot of unemployed rude, arrogant, self absorbed nurses looking for jobs at canadian tire. Your "customers", are there because they have to be there, its not a choice. Show some respect instead of demanding others respect you just because your in a position of authority.

Joseph Fleming

I had the absolute worst experiance there the other day. I was in 10/10 pain and they made me wait over 45 minutes with a nail in my hand. Over 5 nurses and doctors refused me pain meds even though I kept telling them I was in 10/10 pain. Also one doctor was outside my room and I could hear him talk about how "dirty" of a person I was and how my hand will get infected because I'm a "dirty dirty guy" super unprofessional. If I was shot in the chest point blank in front of foothills hospital I would rather walk to any other hospital then ever go in there again.

Melissa Pasamonte

I would like to thank the NICU team for doing such an amazing job. I had my baby born at 29 weeks, 11 weeks early but this team helped us to cope up and gave the best of help they can. Special thanks to Dr. Albrecht for delivering my baby and Dr. Liza Espinoza for watching over my baby’s condtion and for making everything clear to us. All the best to the team and stay safe❤️.

Unless your dead don’t bother going in. Doctor looked at me for 5 minutes after a 5 hour wait for a shoulder injury. I didn’t sleep for three days before coming in due to pain. Doctor said to call 311 and get in line for a family doctor. Turns out after going else where I have 2 muscle tears, a winged shoulder blade, a bicep bursitis tear, and nerve damage. The doctors don’t care unless you have a bone sticking out. Do not waste your time.

If I could not give a star at all I would. I am so disappointed in the way this staff operated. My boyfriend and I went into the hospital around 9:30 pm last night. The wait said it was about 2 hours which was fine. We waited 4 hours in the waiting room waiting to be called back to see a doctor. Which we still didn't see when we got back there. The staff at the reception desk wasn't very sympathetic and slightly standoffish if you asked them how much longer it would be and why it was taking as long as it was. I understand that sometimes emergencies happen but we felt like our issues didn't matter to them. After 4 hours they took us to another waiting room in the back where we waited for an hour in hospital chairs for someone to come take our info and problems. We were then moved into a storage room with a bed so my boyfriend could lie down. 2 hours later still had yet to see a doctor and no one had told us why we were waiting for so long. I am extremely unimpressed with the lack of compassion for their patients and their time. My boyfriend was in sever back pain, fetigue, possible tonsillitis, and a massive migraine. No I know we might not be what one would call and emergency but some kind of consideration would have been wonderful. Letting us know why they weren't able to get to us after 7 hours of waiting. No communication and a very unprofessional, uncaring approach to handling people who just want simple information. Very disappointed. We did leave after 7 hours and 5:00 in the morning to go home since I had to work and still no doctor.

sassy pants

All these people complaining about their visit to the EMERGENCY department for their NON emergency and they wonder why the nurses are annoyed and why they wait so long. Jeeze. I wonder genius. Its because people are LITERALLY dying and those nurses and doctors want to spend their time, energy and resources on them. Ask yourself why you feel the need to run to the emergency with your pain that's been going on for 1 hour or your issue that's been there for 3 weeks or 6 months. Why not see your family doc?????????? Also....But seriously? Did you die?

DD Mcgrue

I took my son into the mccaig tower cast clinic and because one of the doctors there has an allergy to fragrances, I was refused access. I knew about the allergy and didn't wear any fragrances but it didn't matter. I think the Dr needs to find another line of work away from the public if he/she has such a problem with people. They need to remember that the world does not revolve around them and patients (and thier families)are people too. I've never been treated with such disrespect and arrogance. Stay away if you can and request another clinic from your doctor.

Went in to see if I could help with a tooth absessed and infection. Not get diagnosed. I spent 5 hours in excruciating pain in the room while the wait time clock claimed an average wait time of 36 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes. Then instead of trying to care of the problem they were TOLD was there they started trying to get hook up an IV and diagnose my issues. Glad to know even when the problem is known noone here is willing to just help... I wasn't addressed once by any nurses during this time nor was anyone else really coming in. I listened to what sounded like high school gossip and got NO help... I haven't slept in 5 days or eaten in 3 and I can think more clearly and logically than these "professionals". Glad to know...

We came into the emergency room for a check up due to heart pain, we waited about 40 minutes to see the doctors and they ran multiple tests. Overall, the doctors and nurses were professional, friendly and able to diagnose the pain and we left about 2 hours later. Good experience.

Extremely disorganized. Went into ER with referral, was bypassed by patients who came in after me and only after I inquired about why my wait was so long that they gave me a huge speech about "priority levels in patient cases" ONLY to find out they misplaced my chart. After they realized they were at fault one of the flow coordinators was apologetic about her attitude but then the next one who called my name after the fiasco of finding my chart was being blameful on me about sitting in the proper area when I had been the entire time. Rude bedside manner from nurse staff and unwelcoming unprpfunprofes attitude.

First c section experience was terrible with a very non supportive team of nurses that spent more time laughing and eating snacks at the desk. They were very bothered with us when we asked for any assistance. I was injured during a standard procedure due two lack of care. Second c section had the same experience for the most part except we had an amazing breast-feeding specialist that was our nurse for two days and she deserves 5 stars as she saved that experience - When we left, I actually wanted to cry because of her.. she was a huge support... everyone else there pretty much sucked.

Victor Middleton

First, we are seniors. Our experience was always great, both for my wife and me. Although our experiences were a few years back, they were in all areas, including nurses, Dr.'s, admitting and general support staff. I hesitate to identify names as some might be missed. But heart and knee surgery areas were where our experiences are positive memories ????. I was a very small part of Foothills Hospital initial construction in early 1960's. It was a DPW design and included some gutsy design features such as 100% outdoor air ventilation with high efficiency electrostatic air filtration. Secondary higher efficiency filters were used in ICU, prenatal and other critical areas. Each patient recovery room was, ventilation wise, isolated from all other areas. Great memories.

Caterina Pollio

I delivered both my kids there and I loved my nurses, Amanda and Danielle , during my labours. They made me feels so comfortable, as comfortable as someone can feel during labour. The support staff was amazing and Dr. Jensen was wonderful. I felt lucky to have such a good experience.

Amy Madsen

I have never ever been treated with such rudeness as I was at this hospital. The nurses you encounter when you first walk in to get screened are deplorable, the treat you as if you are an inconvenience and are intruding on their precious space. I wouldn't come to this hospital if it meant life or death, if you don't want to deal with the public don't get a job in the public sector.

Jagr Doyle

Let me start with this, I went into the hospital around 11:42am due to very intense chest pains i have experienced through the night time. Keep in mind I have went into cardiac arrest in 2015 due to an incident where I was left outside in the middle of winter so my organs were freezing and failing. Last January I had a mini heart attack so the pain I was experience frightened me so I decided to go for an ECG. to start the triage nurse in emergency was so rude and totally neglected my story from the past and made me wait 2 hours with chest pain to get examined. Once I waited and waited and asked again saying ma'am my chest is on fire im scared I am having a heart attack she told me to sit down and wait my turn. I finally got in and I had an old lady nurse I thought thank God finally someone that will care about what's happening. BUT guess what, she was even more rude than the triage nurse. I finally got the ECG done and I have had around 90 of them over the last few years so I have gradually learned to read them and mt mother also being a doctor helped out. I seen I was OK so I asked for the saline flush to be removed from my arm as I would have needed no extra blood work done. She then went to say I'm not a doctor and I have no clue what I'm talking about even tho I am in school to follow my mothers footsteps. I had her take it out and let me tell you when I say she ripped the needle out of my arm she did she pulled it out so hard my arm squirted blood. She also went and got the fake police officers (peace officers no good for norhing) and lied to them. Stupid lady forgot there is a camera in every room and tried to say I took the saline flush out. They pulled out their iPad and watched the camera and seen she was lying. I felt assaulted and that I was being treated with mad disrespect the only reason my review has 1 star is because I have to put a star to write my review. My girlfriend and I are disgusted with some of the staff here and I would recommend literally any other hospital over this one.

I had covid19 and I waited for 5 and a half hours in an emergency room with people who didn’t have covid even when I refused to sit with them at first and told the staff that I was positive for Carona virus. After waiting for more than 6 hours, I started shivering and had a severe fever. Even then they refused to give me any types of medicine. There were no protocols followed in the emergency room as they are in other hospitals.

The male nurse from check in emergency department named ERIC with a beard was very rude and unprofessional. He will look at you and ask you questions and make you feel like you are just acting. We wont come to your department in the middle of the night if my companion is not sick! He is only wearing a feel at home loose t shirt instead of scrub suit. He act like he is sick and tired of doing his job. No sign of care or whatsoever with this man. he is rough during assesment. Do you have a problem bro?? you are not fit to be in health department. If you need urgent care DO NOT go to the Foothills Hospital! They are useless here and you are better off diagnosing yourself on Google. Seriously! I went to the Foothills Hospital after two weeks of excruciating lower back pain on the left that radiated to my side and wrapped around my stomach. I was given the run around with my family doctor, she sent me to the after hours clinic twice as her office was too booked up to see me. They gave me codeine the first time which didn't even touch the pain and second time they gave me something stronger and told me to go to emergency to have a CT scan done as it might be kidney stones. I went into Emergency on Nov 5th and had a urine test and bloodwork done (for the third time) and everything was clear. The doctor told me to go home. I said "aren't you going to do an ultrasound" it was like I was inconviencing him for doing his job. He reluctantly said yes. Everything was clear with the ultrasound. Again, he told me to go home and continue taking the pain medication and gave me no answers. Thanks for your help, NOT! I called 811 today and it was the first time I finally felt like someone was acknowledging the pain I was in. The nurse told me to keep pushing to have tests done to find out what's going on because you can't be on pain killers forever.

My father fell and broke his foot June 26th and didn't get his foot worked on until July 2nd. To top it all off no surgeon was interested in helping my dad fix his foot so they had to transfer my dad to the Peter Lauheed hospital to get a podiatrist to finally surgically fix his foot and then transferred my dad back to the foothills. My father finally got discharged today. He was supposed to have the podiatrist that work on high foot look at his foot again and fit his aircast but that doctor never showed up after they told my dad this doctor would come fit his aircast. My brother and his wife came to pick him up and took him home otherwise my dad would still be in the foothills waiting for nothing. The unit he was in was extremely disorganized, the staff had no clue what was going on for my dad. God forbid you get sick, when visiting there it was very dirty and unsanitary and the staff looked like they didn't want to be there. Very disconcerting when you see the disinterest in patients well being and having no choice but to be at the mercy of their care makes me cringe.

By far the worst hospital ive ever been too. Wait times are absolutely ridiculous and the psychiatrists are on a total power trip. Not to mention its filthy as all can be. I was locked in a observation room for three days and was denied my request to see a psychiatrist on the second. My room also looked as if there was literal human feces in the corners, the bathroom had no place for the toilet paper so it was on the ground as well as everyone’s trash due to the fact there was no trash Can

Was in ER few weeks ago (2017) and waited over 4 hours (which I didn't mind because I understand priority is given to trauma patients etc.). Only reason I gave the 1 star is because the nurse I got was amazing. After 4 hours of wait she took my vitals and gave me a bed so I can be a bit comfortable while waiting for the doctor. After another 2 hour wait (total of 6 hours by now) the doctor finally came, as I was explaining my symptoms, she got paged and excused herself. Another hour wait and doctor came back for re-assessment and said she is going to refer me to cardiologist and that I'm good to go home. I called the ER department after a week, as I hadn't heard from any cardiologist and they told me that there is no record of any referral. So basically I waited over 7 hours in the ER for the doctor to spend only 5 minutes with me, and also forget to actually refer me to a cardiologist. Super frustrating and very disappointing! ‐---------------------------- I had to edit and give more stars because of their maternity ward. I delivered at FMC last year and every single staff member was amazing. There was a bit of complication at delivery and I cannot thank the staff enough. Thank you for taking care of my baby and me!

Endoscopy Unit staff 4th Floor Sadly, August 26, 2019, when I received the call to return to Foothills Hospital to pick up my husband following a colonoscopy procedure, the Unit clerk did not hear me say 'hello'. She was too busy in conversation with her coworker. I had to say hello twice before she was aware that I had answered. I was told to be ready to pick him up at 2 PM. Upon arrival, I waited at the Do Not Enter. Patients Only sign. When I was finally acknowledged, I was instructed to "Come here", meaning come to the desk. I explained why I was there. 'Who? He is not ready, wait 5 minutes. Go wait over there.' She pointed towards the entrance. At approximately 2:20 PM, I overheard a nurse saying his name and she should be here soon. I went behind the curtain and introduced myself. He was ready to leave 10 minutes later. The point is, not once did I hear the words, hello, welcome, please, or thank you. Neither persons at the desk barely acknowledged that I was there. In addition to that extremely disappointing experience, I was required to pay for overpriced parking.

Ended up in emergency and then the neurological unit for a week. The care was exceptional. The Delivery Unit/Ward is amazing ang the staff there are top notch! My wife had both of our children here and we couldnt have been happier! With that said however, the Emergency Room is always a disaster and wait times can be up to 6 hours! The nurses and doctors working here seem to be extremely overworked! I have also attended the Sleep Clinic and was happy with the staff here! The hospital itself is very old and somewhat run down, but they are doing extensive renovations and should be a world class hospital when completed!

Unfortunately when you’re in an emergency situation you don’t have the luxury of time to weigh your medical care options. Hence why I find myself in patient purgatory of Foothills Medical Centre. While some of the staff is friendly and helpful, others are impatient, rude and forgetful! They forgot to administer my medication this morning after assuring me it would be provided and I should not bring anything from home. While I understand surgery wait times are usually long and tedious, the apparent negligence of nursing staff and their inability to administer basic needs of their patients, who—let’s face it—are now stuck with them is nothing short of disgraceful.

I had a very hard day. I’m 14 weeks pregnant and started bleeding. Went in with my husband to get checked. Emergency referred me to Labour & Delivery. The nurses in L&D were absolutely amazing. They were kind, generous understanding and checked on me quite often while I waited for an ultrasound. Dr. Kale is an amazing doctor and should she decide to work in L&D will definitely be delivering my next baby. My entire experience in this ward was just beyond anything I imagined even during such a scary and emotional day. Thank you to all the kind nurses I had the pleasure having taken care of me. You all belong there and deserve more people to see what truly incredible healthcare professionals you are. Everything turned out to be okay and I left feeling well taken care of, all questions answered and a little lighter than I did going in. Would give 10 stars if I could.

Was here visiting family when I noticed outside the main entrance there was a man who had fallen out of his wheel chair. I went to go check on them and his companion who was kneeling over him said he wasnt responding and she couldnt tell if he was breathing. I said I'd go get help and ran to the emergency ward, about 50ft away. The I told the triage nurse that there was an unresponsive man outside who had fallen and she told me I had to call an ambulance as they "didnt leave the emergency ward." So, I called 911 and when the operator asked my address and I told him, he was just as confused as I was. Ambulance saw the commotion and ended up pulling over to help before the responding ambulance arrived, bless those kind folk. This is just the one instance, I could write a book on the stuff my family went through during their stay here. I will say I brought my grandpa here 2 days after he was discharged after a heart procedure because his feet swelled up, it took 8 hours to get him an ultrasound where they first determined he may have water on his heart, another 4 for another doctor to come by and say he didnt but was going to forward the findings to another doctor for a 3rd opinion, and then literally another 12 for them to do another 2 or 3 ultrasounds to determine he actually did have fluid on his heart. Please, literally go to any other hospital.

“Registered Nurse” Raul is extremely rude, negligent, and speaks in a demeaning manor to patients. I would say “his patients” but his attitude makes it seem like he couldn’t care less about the patients in the emergency room. We were there for 6 hours and witnessed him first hand acting disrespectfully to patients and others that had accompanied them. In addition to his disappointing bedside manor he lacked empathy for those that required medical attention and failed to answer any of our questions. In short, this man is a useless addition to the FMH emergency team and a waste of our healthcare and tax money. Raul, if you ever read this i would suggest perhaps finding a job that is better suited to fit your cold and careless personality, rather than ruining the nights of patients already scared and worried in the emergency room.

Liam Lamming

The staff appear to have little regard for patient care; they would rather lounge in the sun with some chubby cats than tend to patients in need of urgent care. This would be a one star review, however, FMC is the best place in the city for chicken fingers, and I do love me sum of doze

If I could give no stars to the postpartum/maternity ward I would. After an amazing experience in labour and delivery, I delivered at 5am. Arriving in PP ward, I should have received breakfast. BUT I have food allergies that were ignored and I received the wrong meal. Our nurse put in a revised order, that we didnt receive. By 10 am, I had gone to the unit clerk 2 times myself, as well as asking nurses twice, and was assured each time that I would be receiving food, as the patient fridge had only cheese slices and preserved fruit in sugar syrup (ie. No sustenance). When still no food arrived, my husband went to check and was told it was close enough to lunch that I could wait until then! Unacceptable! I gave birth, lost blood, am exhausted and in need of nutrition, and my husband had to go to the only place open and buy me something quickly (thankfully there's a gas station across 16th Ave that sells protein bars) so that I wouldn't pass out because the Unit clerk Lynn told me they WOULD NOT get me food until noon! I called AHS and filed a formal complaint, but just be warned: if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, bring all of your own food cause they're not gonna make sure you're fed and taken care of here! Absolutely ridiculous treatment. Cannot wait to get home so I can eat some food and not have to beg to be fed.

I spent 3months here after surviving a massive stroke I was treated very well and am well onto my road to recovery

The parking is a nightmare everywhere u look it’s “staff only” parking, the staff should know their way around the place but the visitors don’t!! all the main floors are reserved for staff. The people working there shouldn’t have reserved parking or reserved parking buildings this is insane they aren’t the one who are coming in as a patient!! or bringing in a patient. Disgusting treatment of patients, nurses are very rude and there’s never any clarity about the wait time.

DAVID

They leave you and 7 other people in a secondary emerg room for 5 hours no one says anything. Then they see you eating and give you attitude. Instead of all the nurses talking about what they are all going to do on the weekend a little contact with people would be nice. They have no respect for your time or you as a person

I had my tonsils removed here recently. I was extremely nervous as it was my first surgery ever. The entire staff from admitting to discharge were so very kind. Neurology Outpatient care is non-existent. When attending for an appointment, a three-hour wait in an empty waiting room is unacceptable. After a ten- minute consultation, I was told to call if there were any problems with my new medication. Hah! Forget it! Number supplied was for booking or cancelling appointments. After a lengthy recorded message, I was given a nurse-station number. Two calls told me the nurse was away from her desk and wouldn't be there the next day. Two messages left but no return calls. I might get a reply one of these days and it will probably ask me to attend another appointment so I can get an answer to one simple question. What fun! For a senior, the $120 cost of getting there is so easy to pay out of a pension, isn't it? I think not! These doctors need to live in the real world for a week and see how they like it.

Cave Lord

Ive been here many times, twice from an ambulance, and have only been seen once. Their time to be seen clock seems to only be a wildly innacurate suggestion. I had lost conciousness and had to wait 10 hours when their clock said 6 hours. If you are seen, the treatment is world class, but goodluck getting seen.

lil tracy

rude doctor. dislike this hospital.

J Allwood

If I could rate anything lower I would in a heart beat. My father in law went here due to mini strokes, and was in the emergency for 3 1/2 hours and had another stroke before being seen. The emergency staff is absolutely rude, stating he doesn't know if he's having one or not. Then proceeds to state that he's under observation when they didn't know he had a stroke while sitting there. Meanwhile someone who came in after him got seen and left, and he was in for something minor. Makes sense, don't even bother such a joke.

Patrycja Musialkowska

I had kidney failure and a few dozen medical issues since then. I have always been well taken care of, yes I can spend hours in emergency rooms but they are running tests to rule things out. If you are sitting in the waiting room for 5 or 6 hours it is obviously not an emergency, there are walk in clinics and urgent care centres that would be more appropriate. This is also a teaching hospital, and if you have just one student consider yourself lucky, that student will work their butt off trying to find a diagnosis to prove their proffessor wrong.

I'm 70 yrs old, came in by Ambulance from out of town from Regional Health Care and spent overnight in the emergency because of a Migraine and Very High Blood Pressure. The beds in emergency should be destroyed and new ones that offer some comfort to patients is needed. They are like sleeping on metal rods with a very thin mattress. Also the nurses were so loud through the night as they were yelling and laughing while sick patients are trying to rest. I've heard this noise from nurses in the middle of the night even after 2 surgeries!. The man in the room beside me was moaning in pain and trying to ask them to be quiet, they pretended to not hear him. Hospitals and their Uncaring and Overpaid Staff need to be held accountable for their ignorance of patient caring. The only thing that would get hospitals and Nurses Unions back to working order is a Loud Public Protest!!. Sick and Tired of the Nurses Union and their right to strike for more money and less Patient Care

Nurses don't care about patients, nurses don't respond to emergency call buttons for critically ill patients, nurses lie to patients and their family and executive director pretends to care but covers up the lies and refuses to make changes despite admitting they were wrong. Hospital is filthy gross dirty and executive director doesn't care about cleanliness. Critical care patients get moved to hallways and left abandoned, unattended and unfed. Charge nurses say it's not their job to look after patients, tell them what's going on, make sure they are fed, check their medications or even to know where their patients are. This hospital is 100% negligent in their care and should be investigated. If you want to die this is the place to go. Unprofessional and unsafe doesn't even begin to describe this place. This hospital deserves to get sued. Patient services is supposed to be there to support patient complaints and they just ignore them just like the executive director. Trying to escalate the complaint just gets ignored by all upper management within AHS. They are too busy to deal with complaints and don't care how patients are treated. Patients and their families are abused but staff and it's totally ok with the executive director. They are completely incapable of communicating and risk the lives of their patients every day by failing in their duty of care. Our hard earned tax dollars are paying for the overinflated and undeserved salary of the executive director and she goes home at night knowing her hospital has serious issues and doesn't care and is not interested in fixing them. She is the most unqualified, unprofessional, uncaring person I have ever met in my life and is not capable of upholding the position she is in. AHS has 7 core values and they have violated every one of them and she turns a blind eye and then violates them herself. She also committed FOIP violations as well. No accountability, no honesty, no ethics, no integrity, no professionalism, no duty of care, no patient safety and no remorse for mistakes. This hospital needs a complete overhaul of management to make any positive changes. Hate this place more than any other hospital I have been to. They deserve to be shut down completely! Incompetence at its finest.

I had my son born at the labour and delivery unit at Foothills hospital. Everyone there was amazing! All nurses and doctors! We loved the care that was provided to us. I had to take one star down because of the post partum unit. The facility is quite old and the rooms are crowded. The lights are very bright in the room and it takes a while to switch them off and on sometimes. There is not much privacy or space. Staff was very nice and helpful but I couldn't wait to get out.

I am not happy with the care my mom has been receiving .Terrible care on unit 91. She was given her pills just kinda thrown on dirty table not in a container. No water to take pills with. Nighty full of blood and not changed. Changed bedding for 3 patients and not hers. No assistance to washroom. We called in morning and she was to go for xray. Nurse told my aunt when she has time she will take her. But when I left after 4 she still had no xray. Stuck in a hard , uncomfortable chair all day. Sink taps dont work. My aunt asked for assistance to help her to bed after sitting in that chair for 6 hours. The nurse just stood there looking not helping. She was transferred during lunch so no lunch and starving. My aunt called at 5 and she had yet to receive supper. the food is good. She would have better care at home. Dont think they would even notice if she left for a couple hours. My aunt and I have not slept since she has been transferred to unit 91. The system really needs to step up. They are understaffed and unable to actually do there jobs and i beleive the patients are suffering well deserved care.

The nurses were really, really mean. It was my first time in a hospital, I had had major surgery for ovarian cancer and they treated me like I was trying to cheat on an exam.

I'm rewriting this review because I accidentally deleted my previous one. Basically, our first experience wasn't so great. My mom was sent for a CT scan for her abdomen but ended up getting a scan for her chest, abdomen, and pelvis. That was a lot more radiation exposure given than necessary. I don't know if these are common symptoms but also the color of her skin got darker after the CT scan and during the scan, she felt a very hot sensation. Our second experience with them was absolutely awesome. I have no complaints. My dad got his emergency surgery within 48 hours (so rather quickly). The surgery went very well. Of course, his leg doesn't feel like it used to but you can only go so far with treatment after an accident that big. According to him, the nurses were very kind and friendly. His only complaint was that the bed wasn't comfortable.

I used to think that FMC was one of the best hospitals in Alberta. After my experiences over the last few years I have changed my mind. The nursing care overall is mediocre, there are some fabulous ones and there are terrible ones that should not be practicing. One 1 admission: 24 attempts to get 1 IV in, unable to recognize when an IV site is blown even though the site was puffed up and red, they continued to use it when it hurt like crazy, I was told that as long as it remained under the skin the body would absorb the medication this came from 4-5 nurses on the same unit. They would put heat on it to relieve the pain. Needless to say I had cellulitis more than a few times. I was so weak I needed assistance to the toilet. I was not washed, my bed went unchanged for 3 WEEKS!!! Another family member was sent to a rural hospital after open heart surgery, they were told that everything was great. Within 7 days it was back to FMC with a dangerous heart rhythm that we found out later was there since surgery, the ECG was read wrong by the nurse practitioner and the doctor. She nearly died. Our latest experience was in ICU In the McCaig tower. After suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm and surviving, a mistake was made and our daughter went into a full cardiac arrest. One nurse didn’t pass on that potassium levels were very low, being checked every 4 hours, and potassium had to be given each time. 36 hours of no blood work, potassium was so low her heart stopped. It took 20 minutes of CPR to bring her back. She is recovering but the care is horrible. The health care aides won’t wash her or get her ready for her therapies, they take her to the bathroom on a commode chair that doesn’t get washed between patients. She’s only allowed to stand with shoes on but they take her in barefoot and she has to stand to pull her pants down. The floor is covered in urine from one of the patients she shares the washroom with. They need assistance to the toilet as well, the aides see the urine but let it dry. Bedpans with urine in them are left everywhere and dirty incontinance supplies are thrown in a basket ON TOP of her toothbrushes and mouth care supplies. An aide didn’t understand why she couldn’t use Fixodent as toothpaste and tried to argue that I was wrong. She misses her therapies which are extremely important because they can’t be bothered to get her ready. After 6 weeks it’s still a surprise that she has times booked for therapy, so if they get her ready, she’s missed her appointment. I could go on and on but you get the picture.

My wait time said 1 hour 20 minutes. After the 3 hour mark I realized they were totally off on their wait times. A man had a stroke and a girl was vomiting her guts out but they were still made to wait. I least around 4 hours as I wasn’t prepared to wait 10 hours like user reviews suggest.

Hanna Sachnowska

The worst experience ever! My d&c surgery was supposed start 2hours ago and I'm still waiting. Nobody to come and tell me it's being delayed or give me any info. I've been here since 10am and it's already 3pm! So disappointed with this hospital. EDIT: The staff and the OR and recover are fantastic, very caring and kind. They had emergency hence my surgery was delayed. I just wish the nurses had told me that when I was waiting..

Been coming here pretty much every day for the last two weeks and today I was harassed by the screening ppl bc I can't wear a mask. I was wearing a face sheild. This hasn't been a problem up until now. I was even here earlier in the day to see my daughter with no issue. I showed them my screening paper I was told that I was lying and was probably wearing a mask earlier. They called security on me bc I can't wear the mask. I had brought dinner to my daugjter which was cold and the ice cream had melted as it took them almost 20. I really think that security being called was very uncalled for. And what is the point of getting the screening paper if it means nothing anyways

My grandfather hasn’t been receiving proper care here. First he was sent to the emergency by his family doctor, and was sent back the coming day, receiving little medical attention. Doctors said he would be fine in a week. Soon after he could barely talk and was rushed to the emergency again as his condition had gotten worse. He still wasn’t getting better and nor was getting proper medical attention, eventually we had to get transferred him to a different hospital.

Back in the beginning of November 2018, my mom was sent to this hospital from Red Deer following a massive brain anuerysm. The staff (doctors, nurses, EVERYONE) was extremely compassionate. They were calm, patient, and answered any and all questions we had. Not once did we ever feel in any way, shape, or form disappointed with the service we received. My mother did not make it, unfortunately. That did not stop her doctors and nurses from doing the absolute best they could to help her and keep her comfortable. Even though she was essentially brain dead, they assured us that they were still giving her pain meds and keeping her sedated to prevent any chance of her experiencing any pain. The one that stood out. His name was Loren (unsure if that’s the exact spelling). I don’t think I have ever met such a pure man. At one point before my mom was unhooked (family decision with 0 pressure), I personally asked Loren if he and the rest of the people working on my mom could say with absolute certainty that they had done everything in their power to help her, and he looked me straight in the eye when he said “yes”. In the days my mom was in this hospital, we were allowed to stay right on the unit with her, and even sleep right next to her without the staff giving us any havoc. After my mother had passed, they ended up taking her for surgery (she was an organ donor). Even with her gone, we were not rushed out of the unit. The staff made sure we were ok. They even went as far as to bring some coffee/tea and cookies, saying that when people are looking after loved ones in such rough conditions, they tend to forget to take care of themselves. We were given ample resources to help us with the grieving. We were even given the units number in case we ended up having any questions whatsoever. To wrap this all up, thank you. Words cannot convey how much my family and I appreciate the care my mother was given. Thank you, so, SO much.

I was here in 2003 when my dad had a stroke and was going through therapy etc.. he didn't end up overcoming the results of his stroke but I have always remembered how genuine and kind the doctors and nurses were in that ward. Recently I gave birth here and the doctors and nurses in both the triage, labor and delivery, and post partum were awesome. Made my first experience with labor very non stressful (as it could possibly ever be). Yes the rooms etc are kinda old but really I personally did not feel like that up to date surroundings with less cracks in the chairs were a priority at that time.

The staff here are absolutely awful, we came in through emerge with a 1 hour wait time and have been here for 7 hours, we're in the back area and the staff talk so loudly and disrespectfully about the patients. It's not a good environment, being able to hear the staff trash talk patients for 6 hours is not fun. The room we're in is right next to this loud machine and they keep saying "just sleep until the doctor gets here, it'll be a few more hours". It almost seems like they are intentionally being loud and disrespectful at this point. Also note the room were assigned to DOESN'T have a doctor assigned to it, so that's probably why we've been here for so many hours. Do note, this is how they treat suicidal patients apparently.

Just over two years ago I came to the ER with extreme abdominal pain. I was completely written off and embarrassed by the ER doctor who saw me (he also had a medical student shadowing him at the time). I was told I either had an STD or was pregnant and when both of those were negative I was told I just had menstrual pain and sent on my way. Today, I am a 21 year old recovering from a major surgery removing half of my reproductive system because of an extreme case of endometriosis and other issues caused by it. If this Doctor hadn't of written me off two years ago I would still have a full reproductive system and would have been saved from two years of intense physical and mental pain. While I don't remember the doctors name, I will never forget the way it felt to be treated so poorly and the way I was gaslit into thinking my pain wasn't real and valid.

I was taken by ambulance to foothills general hospital with an EXTREMELY PAINFULL stomach problem, I was in so much pain I could not even walk from one point to another. I was brought into the hospital and was placed in a hallway to wait. The ambulance workers lleft and then 5 minutes later I started gettin harassed by AHS emplyees asking why im there, raising their voice to abusive levels and berating me for giving them the same answer, implying im lying, that i'm tresspassing, im not supposed to be there. They then brought in a manevolent security force to have me removed without getting any attention. I was then berated ans abusivly harrased by the guards, nurses standing around making me feel in the wrong, exploited, scammed framed and riped off, I got up in an angry outburst to yell as I was in so much pain with LESS THAN MERCY around me and was pummeld to bits by bylaw officers, punched in the face, torso shoulders and was repeatedly hit even while I was being held on the ground. I was then not charged but banned from going to a hospital so they could bury the whole mess and continue to STALK and HARASS me with bad luck and pull-pits in their spare time. AHS is the EVILEST and most CORRUPT health conglomerate in CANADA please help us innocent victims of the system who have mental illness, which AHS has left for naught condemned with shuninghood where they are allowed to gain business chips with people who need help and become a philosophical LOGOS of toil-torment and loss for their victims.

I give 2 stars for some nurses and some support staff in the ICU. Shame on you. Doctors and their students were awesome. My complaint is that most ,, not all nurses in this unit are lacking compassion. Compassion is the ability to understand someone's emotional reactions. My son had a very life threatening problem that brought him to the icu near death and on the ventilator- life support. One nurse spoke to my son .. even in a coma .. his others just pressed buttons on the machines. The one person that needs to be removed immediately,, spoke to me and my friends .. suggesting my son would not come out of this. Sarcastic- rude etc. The day my son woke up from a coma he was shocked and wouldn't enter the room at shift change. (My son was woken up by the next nurse.. 15 minutes after his shift change the night before) I went out a half hour later to ask him if he was planning to introduce himself to my son .. and he said - not until you leave - that he didn't want me influencing my son. This was his guilt speaking. They insinuated that when in a coma while my son was kicking and moving his arms that I was stimulating him .. no I was talking him down and holding his forehead. Finally another nurse came in and adjusted his sedation and he became quiet. I know in my heart this nurse was neglecting my sons care. While I slept there ,, this nurse was never at his station .. always walking around talking with other nurses at their stations. I get I was an emotional wreck, completely identified with my pain of seeing my son like this ,, but if you get to a place in your job where you are checked out emotionally, more training is required. The female social worker on this unit is magnificent,, the other .. needs to move on. I know that as a masters in social work .. you know why people are upset, and fully identified with their fear / pain. I would like to thank the doctors and respiratory people on this unit. I wish I could identify the great nurses too, and the one social worker. I wish I didn't get as emotional as I did .. so that my complaints would be handled.. not under the cloud of my responses to what I was seeing and feeling. In closing ,, my complaint with this one nurse in particular,, is he said people either come here to live or to die. ,, you had already made up your mind ,, my son was going to die. You were wrong.

Crushed my thumbs in a workplace accident on Wednesday. One was a pretty bad open fracture. Was seen right away and attended to by a doctor, several nurses and a med student. I was a patient under under the hospitals care for about 8 months. I have read some of the reviews given by other members. Frankly I was a little offended by what I read. The staff at foothills medical center are very professional, hard working and care very much. Yes if you come to the emergency room with a migraine and some back pain, you may be waiting for a while. The staff may seem distant when being asked repeatedly how long one must wait, or why this person is going in before that person. In this case it is not first come first served. It's most urgent first served. So if your well enough to decide to go home after waiting a while, maybe go to a clinic instead. While some problems may slip through the cracks (which did happen to me, resulting in my abdominal wall being entirely removed), the staff does everything they can to avoid this. Don't forget they work 12 hours shifts up to 7 days a week. Dealing with people that think they are the more important than everyone else. There fore I would like to remind you that patients is key. This is one of the best hospitals I've been to, with the best staff and some of the best doctors in Alberta. Thanks to the doctors, nurses, nurses assistants and physio team. I am able to walk again and begin returning to life as normal.

We cannot thank Foothills Emergency staff enough for the quick care and attention to my husband’s injuries; when he was transferred to Unit 44, I always had a direct line to the front desk to schedule daily visits and answer questions about his care. It is so stressful and the staff are clearly stretched thin with regular care (compounded with COVID), and the turnaround we experienced was greatly appreciated.

Had a severe rare allergic reaction and was taken to the emergency entrance. They were hesitant to treat me because of my symptoms, they thought I was lying and that instead, I was on drugs. After they took samples of my blood, I had already waited at least half an hour in progressive, constant, immense pain. Staff at the emergency entrance were rude and not gentle because they were under the assumption that I was on drugs. Tone of the staff changed dramatically after symptoms of an allergic reaction began to outweigh that of drugged one. But even when they put me in my hospital gown, one of the nurses leaned in and asked again (after multiple times) if I was sure I didn't take drugs. Gave it a 2 star because the doctor that was helping me was actually nice after he concluded that it was a less common type of an anaphylaxis reaction, as well as my attending nurse. Definitely would try to avoid this place under any emergency situation. Staff are rude and unprofessional, Rockyview was much more comforting the last time I went into an anaphylaxis shock.

You hit incompetent Walker you will pay the price I never go back there incompetent hospital

I am a BC resident and had a mishap with a horse out in the back country in Alberta at the beginning of July. My injuries took me to the Trauma Unit at Foothills, where I received excellent medical care. I am thankful for all the staff and was impressed at how all the teams work together - from ER, X-Ray, Medical Imaging, Trauma Unit, Orthopedic & Physio Teams. All of the nurses on my ward during my 5 day stay were amazing! And special thanks to Dr Prism Schneider and her surgical team for repairing my left ankle.

Chantel J

Thank you to all my hardworking coworkers :)

Horrible wait times

Doug Clarke

My brother passed away in ICU. They tried their best to save him. However, when I was watching the doctors give my brother chest compressions, I saw 2 doctors sharing a joke and laughing. Very disrespectful. I get it. They see death everyday. But please be sensitive in someone's presence.

aditi chhabra

Amazing staff

Farid Dadi

My many thanks to Foothills ER and Cardiac unit nurses and doctors for treating me for breathing issues that followed my heart surgery. Excellent facility and great people.

Dwayne Farr

Was there by ambulance. No wait they rushed me in for help. Staff was there from the entrance. Doctors and nurses.

Stephanie Ward

Very rude staff and unless you are dying they really dont care you are there.

Dominique D

Older structurally, but fantastic hospital with many services.

Goggle Reviewer

Very bad staff Labour and Delivery they don't know how to do natural deliveries as if only trained to do c-sections great at pushing it on ya doctors and its residents lack passion and professionalism! They work around the clock (schedules) After delivery unit clerks and nurses also lack passion/unhelpful!!!

Wife is in allot of pain... Estimated time on the display when we arrived was 1 hour 20 mins.... We have been waiting for over 6 hours and counting.

Donna Grigg

i had the most traumatic experience of my life on the 9th floor twice. 2 very mean heartless nurses. Due to this experience the next time i was sedated i took down 2 nurses and a heart surgeon. they were very understanding. i was again on the 9th floor this tuesday. i explained to heather how terrified i was. WOW. they kept the mean nurses away from me and gave me the most tender, kind, understanding care any human could possibly give another. i will not be afraid next time. i will not let the mean nurse near me ever now that i know the difference. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ON THE DAY SURGERY HEART FLOOR. INCLUDING THE GREAT SANDWICH GIRL. AND NOT FORGETTING AMY.

My heartfelt thanks to the Foothills Hospital staff at the emergency and nursing station 81 in the main building. I received excellent care during my week-long stay in October. All the staff are very professional, friendly and caring! I would like to express my special thanks to Dr. Wiertz and Dr. Clemett. Special thanks to the experienced senior doctor who was empathetic and referred my case to the orthopedic team. I forgot to ask for her name as I was in the emergency ward. I also want to extend my appreciation to all the wonderful nurses who also provided excellent care during my stay, especially Nurse Mahendra and Head Nurse Ada! Sincerely, Chow Fuh Wah, Queeny

Janak Bhavsar

My wife dina bhavsar was admitted in emergency for elbow surgery on 2nd may 2019, excellent care was taken by the hospital doctors and other staff, the social worker was very helpful. Brilliant service and management.

Yonas Abrehe

Very terrible service I came with serious sick brother and waiting a lot in an emergency waiting room. When I try to ask the nurse absolutely she is very rude. She answered like " you have to wait and wait " she said. I waited for almost 2 hours with my brother lying in a sit with terrible pain. This should be changed we are the citizens that pay the hospital to give this service by paying a lot of taxes each and money move to the government. The new parking also so expensive to stay short time and it is hard to find parking spot most of them it says staff parking only.

JR Day

Everyone was exceptional when I went in for my brachytherapy operation. Everyone was friendly, helpful, reassuring, knowing that most patients will be a little nervous before surgery. A blog thankfully as well to all the radiation techs, who were sup goes to deal with. My only issue with Foothills is the lack of parking.

Simple Man

We were lied to (so much for informed consent and their hippocratic oath) and the administered medical procedure put my son in danger when his heart rate plummeted to 30% of his normal rate. Then to make matters worse, and older and aggressive nurse was very pushing and threatening with claimed necessary treatments. The more I asked questions the angrier and threatening she became. NEVER AGAIN.

Fred Jefferson

Had a stomach ache, went to emergency. They told its normal. Then after a month it got severe and was again told its normal. After few weeks, I had endoscopy done somehow, they spotted ulcers.

G Aquino

Huge hospital with modern medical facilities. Easy parking and cozy coffee shop at the ground level. Staff at the ICU were friendly, attentive, and genuinely sympathetic.

Sharon Evans

Wouldn't go there if it were the last hospital on earth

Nick k

The signs marking how to navigate the hospital area need to be alot better. Being here for the first time I had to ask people how to get to the place I need to be.

Maestro Paganini

I had a triple by-pass surgery. The surgeon and nursing staff was fantastic that is leading me to a quick recovery without any complications. However not every patient is as lucky as me. It does make a difference who your surgeon is. That's why 4 stars not five. I had some not so pleasant experience with one of the physiotherapist.

Dr Ed

This is a scary hospital and the worst I have ever encountered in Canada in terms of professionalism, compassion, communication, and diagnostics. Nurses fail to communicate with one another so hospital staff don’t know what is going on with patients. Mandate seems to emphasize discharge and disregard for evidence rather than health care. My 16 year old is on psych ward and has been mentally abused by family counsellor who is telling my son mistruths including family doesn’t want him to leave hospital, and he is being kicked out of hospital as a forced discharge and needs to find friends to pick him up (I was advised son was going into another program and was not being discharged). Family counsellor called me a lier because she refused to check hospital notes, and then after realizing mistake claimed she simply does not like me as a person so can treat me like this and not apologize. Patient Relations states that hospital has a huge problem in how families of patients are treated and advised I take legal action against hospital. Program Manager expresses complete lack of concern for the gong show of misconduct within the hospital nurses and staff. #Unit 23

Nathan Nyce

Had sucessful open heart surgery for the second time. Doctors are very good at what they do but the level of care by nurses is very poor and the hospital itself is very dirty, fruit flies and other small flying insects on all floors. Noticed bed pans and urine jugs put down and left on floor near patients beds. Staff spends alot of time using cell phones. This hospital should have been demolished before the General.

Alison Rainey

Excellent care from Internal Medicine and Neurosurgeon (Dr Wong and tesm), as well as Nursing Staff on Ward 111 and 112. Thanks.

Worse hospital in the world they should close it

Dr. Demchuk of stroke clinic is a very helpful and knowledgeable Dr. He is nice and approachable. But his receptionist was the opposite, I know working in that type of environment is stressful but I hope she will not treat me like trash, I called her to inform her that I'm already waiting in the pharmacy for the new meds that Dr. Demchuk prescribed me and informed me that I should go right away and pick it up. However the receptionist was rude and was yelling at me informing me that she didn't send it yet, i was giving her the FAX number of the pharmacy but she was doubting me and was questioning me if it was the right one. Why will I lie about a FAX number? She even insisted to talk to the pharmacist but the pharmacist said they are not allowed to use cellphones if she want she can just call them on their landline. If she was busy, she should've just informed me in a nice way that she can't send it yet so I can just leave and pick it up when it is available. I just hope in the future, they'll treat patients with care as how their Dr. does because if she is struggling with something, I hope she'll know that she is not the only person in this wolrd who is having problem. I left the pharmacy without my precscription and just asked my daughter to go pick it up after her work because I also have commitment on that day and I was almost late for it. I would give this review 5 stars if only the receptionist was nice to me. Thanks.

There were 3 nurses I had one first floor was one they were outstanding it was the second floor got moved to had 2 that seem once in whole shift

DO NOT GO HERE FOR MENTAL HEALTH!! I had been kicked out of my house from my abusive crazy mother and wondered around Calgary all day try to end it then I remember seton hospital recommended foothills so I went there for help and the nurses were very nice and when I asked them not to call my mother( I’m 16 which is old enough to not call if it fall under certain guidelines, which it did my mother is abusive and kicked me out) the nurses and the police officers I spoke to kindly respected that then the psychiatrist who is a “professional” in mental health went and called my mother about MY mental health and ask her about it first. She should have spoken to me first(the patient) about MY mental health but she didn’t and I had asked them to make my chart private so my mother couldn’t find it and the psychiatrist still called her. THIS PLACES MENTAL HEALTH PROGAM IS A JOKE AND SO IS THE PSYCHIATRIST.

Julia Peterson

well, I kind of relate to the other post that suggests "don't come here unless you're dead" If you're not bleeding profusely, I'm not sure if they want to help you. Get pictures of the nurses and any medical staff and record conversations with your iphone. You will not regret it when the [inevitable] time comes for you to file a complaint. Don't let them talk you into leaving if you *know* something is majorly life-altering and wrong with your body, which was my situation. I've never recovered from my life-altering injury, which left me 100% disabled and I will never be able to work and support myself ever again. If I had received medical care in a timely manor, I can't help but think that I could've recovered.

Randy Godber

Great facility. Great surgeons, I had 2, great support staff. Couldn't ask for better care. Don't let our system be privatized

You might as well drive to a different city to get checked out. My pregnant wife waited over 9 hours to get blood work and ultra sound done, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I guess they gotta make money on parking fees $13 For three hours. Way to go AHS. Cut their pay

Dave V

Never come here, I came with an ambulance and I see people come after me and get accepted before me.

Jennifer Grant

Not only was I seen in half the time at the Emergency department as oppose to PLC the nurses actually lisitned to what I had to say. I was in for surgery in less than 24 hours and put into ward 64. The nurses were so friendly and a shout out to my nurse Sara. Best bed side manners I have ever experienced. The room was a double but very roomy. I will be going here for any future emergencies even though it is farther than most from home.

Shiv

The worst hospital when it comes to emergency in Calgary, specially nurse AMAN, I THINK HE SHOULD CONSIDER HIM SELF GOING THROUGH SCHOOL AGAIN, doesn't have any clue what he's doing!!

Niall Hurley

I was there as a patient for over 6 weeks with a brain tumour. Doctors, therapists, nurses and canteen staff are excellent there. I would highly recommend this place.

KK Thomas

Zero Stars! My wife was in the Medical unit and she received bad care. First they misdiagnosed her sickness and put her on IV and she gained 30 pounds. The doctors really did not know what they were doing. They used her like a guinea pig and she died after 21 days. The hospital doctors had a part in the death of my wife. Then one doctor asked us if we wanted a post mortem to find out the problem! Can you imagine that they did not work to find out the problem when she was alive and now they are going to find out after her death? Be careful what you allow the doctors to do!

Shelley Tennant

I had only half hour wait to get into emergency while in extreme back related pain. Within hours, I was assessed and admitted. I cannot thank the nurses of unit 64 enough for the care I was given. Over the two weeks I was there, every staff I met were wonderful. My doctor was a truly kind, caring and very competent.

Cochrane medical centre more like a real emergency room only if Foothills Hospital in Calgary could copy this setup. In Foothills the medical staff are just having chin-wags rather than attending to patients....then the triaging is just a joke pregnant women are seen way after others and it seems to be based on colour! Shame on all the staff that run this department AHS should look at the poor service coming from the medical staff and especially triaging team! One of the worse laid out emergency rooms and terrible staff....who are not going to work in emergency room but a holiday resort!

Darcy Dorscher

My wife gave birth to twins. Facility was great, the staff was amazing. Our sincere appreciation for the care my wife & children received.

2/2 positive experiences in E R. The asian fellow that initially saw me was informative/ honest (about wait times) and friendly, then April at registration desk was lovely to deal with (while giving me the ever popular hospital bracelet), And James (the doc that diagnosed me) was also kind and helpful. Best part-in at 11 PM (expecting 4 hr wait at least) and out by 1 am ish....efficient staff.

Løchles vander Cløud

My father, who over the course of his life paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, died in the palliative care ward after 4 days of constant jackhammering from construction on the floor above. There is a special place in h*** for the administrator who decided that this is an acceptable way to run a hospital.

Emily Lynne

The care itself was okay...I suffered complications after a major surgery and they kept me for only one night even though I felt too weak to walk and get up on my own. I had nobody at home to help me and I could barely walk by myself, it would take me 5 mins to get from a laying to standing position, and they still discharged me with a resting HR of 120 to 130bpm. I think they were short of beds and wanting to get it ready for someone else. I ended up back in the hospital the next day, thankfully i was transported to a different hospital where they ran a full range of tests and seemed to take my health much more seriously

John Kick

U guy should remove emergency department as my wife has cramping in her belly went to emergency we wait over 4hrs still no one show up ,,, if I could I give 0 rate

Heather Bast

I went in to Foothills hospital asking for help with medication issues as I was having side effects, felt I had been prescribed too many at once by my GP. There was a 1.5 hr wait online, and no one in the waiting room. First male nurse came in and was surprised by the amount of medication given, took details. During the next 8.5 hrs prior to seeing a Dr. I was looked in on twice, blood pressure taken over a baggy sweat shirt sleeve and once my mother asked where we were in line and a nurse told us to wait or leave, was very rude. The nurse also called my mother by my name obviously not aware who the patient was after 7.5 hrs. Finally at the 8.5 hr mark, after shift change a Dr. showed up. He asked a couple of questions and said the Hospital did not have anyone qualified to look at medications and I should go back to my GP. Told me it was due to a medication change and that was it. Within the week I had chest pains due to the medications and still 5 months later having issues. I saw the post by a fellow named Avery, curious about the law surrounding the issue you have had. Heard of this happening at other hospitals as well, including in BC. Does the lawyer you know work for a firm here in town? Rating for Foothills hospital, -5, run, run, run. They would rather let you die than get involved in something they did not perceive to be their issue.

David Little

Hit or miss, the staff here are either great or complete crap. My girlfriend had to give a urine sample and gave it to this One lady with spider webbed hair. She took it only to later bring it back to our waiting area saying she's to busy. So my sick in pain gf had to get back up and carry a bag full of urine because this lady was "too busy". Sheer lazyness. We witnessed another event where this poor woman began bleeding on floor. A fat man nurse rolled his eyes and said "what you bleeding for". Are you serious! Don't get me wrong most staff is great here but when it's bad it's bad! These people should be fired immediately. Hospitals are for sick and hurt people, and they deserve the best care possible, not to be embarrassed from incompetence. This office needs to weed out these kinds of people.

Katie Socha

My mother is currently staying here after having a sudden sensory stroke. She's been texting me since her arrival 6 hours ago saying she's being ignored and hasn't been allowed to eat or drink once. We have both had many bad experiences in Canada's healthcare system, and at this point I feel that something is gravely wrong. Not just with this site, but with most (if not all) of them... with constant neglect and lack of empathy.
