THE IGNORANCE AT BMC CATCH program IS REAL! I emailed, called, left voice mails on the nurses line and Dr Coles CATCH program and staff SUCK! I just called on call because I need to know about a potential side effect and the woman repeatedly used incorrect pronouns even after me asking her not to use the wrong ones and to use the preferred name she ignored me and I got firm with her: finally she used “they” instead of “him” —- I guess at least it wasn’t “she” but I wanted to punch this woman through the phone. She tells me “ya idk if they will call you back or not, if they do it will be in 20 mins.” I told her I DEMAND the on call to call me back. How is that even remotely appropriate!?

A few weeks ago… An elderly person was very sick and literally bedridden. She called to speak to a doctor and they wouldn’t even talk to her. She couldn’t even talk by herself. Her emergency contact had to do that for her. She was suffering and all they can offer her was a lousy telehealth call days away. Had she waited any longer… It would’ve been deadly. Because of you and your terrible services… They are no longer using your services and letting you know that publicly. It seems like you chased away all the good and useful doctors. All it has been in the past several years it’s just trash service for elderly people. I hope other people see this before going over there with any real emergency at all. You might just be left to die.

I was calling to get a follow up appointment with my neurologist (I have epilepsy and have still not been prescribed meds yet) Guess front desk redirected me to the wrong line and I ended up on the phone with some lady from Nephrologist, now this lady’s attitude was just terrible. She would interrupt me and talk over me loudly with attitude like I was her child or something. Literally wouldn’t let me talk. Boston medical needs to hire someone else. This is terrible.

The best hospital that I know of for psychiatric care. You guys have saved and changed my life for the better. All the chaos that surrounds that hospital you are literally the sword and shield for those who want to change their lives but are stuck. No matter how many times someone enters your unit just know that as long as they seek help you can help make a difference! God bless you all !

Saved my daughters life, I’m very grateful

11 hours of just waiting in the waiting room ???????????? that’s definitely good for already sick patients

Great services!

Amen to all the staff at BMC you are all Heroes. Hard working. Only thing is the emergency room is Not being Cleaned for hours as sick patients come and go. I myself had to have them call for housekeeping to clean up bloody tissue. Patients where vomiting and waithing to be seen some just left due to the long wait and not one emergency worker came out to check to see if patients were ok due to the long wait. ???????????? Putting a nurse station for quicker service might help in a times like this just to monitor the patients coming into the emergency room to be seen making sure people are ok as they wait is also important. Provide fresh water/crackers while people wait some people don't have money so a long wait can be upsetting for a person in need of care. Creating new jobs can call them ED patient attended.

I love how my chart says Dr. Chen called to apologize for keeping 17 month old baby crying and waiting 40 minutes. She didn’t even have the courtesy to call herself. I had to leave and Dr. Chen never saw baby. Absolutely abmissal dermatology department. If you are going to see an infant at 1pm and can’t be bothered at 1:40; at least phone the apology in the next day after being emailed by frustrated caregiver. Nope - delegated that too. Negative 1,000 on a scale of one to ten.

Fantastic hospital...! B.U. Medical center's teaching hospital.

Wolf Eye

The office staff is very unreliable, incompetent and irresponsible. A few times after calling days ahead for my refills. I was forced to go several days without my medication because the office staff never did their job. The doctors at this place don’t fall too far from the same tree either. I would not recommend.

Crawford Purnell

Would not say loved it, it's a hospital - it's a fantastic place for when you are I'll because it is teaching hospital some of the best doctors in the world

Octavio Coelho

The hospital has good service, but the call center and customer service is horrible. When you call to make an appointment, it seems that they are already tired of working and poorly serve customers. If you are not happy with the job, look for another one, because we pay the wages to you. Thank you! OC

I just had my hernia surgery done, and what I can tell is it was so amazing. they treated me so good, all of them. they are super professional. my experience with them it was really good.

Ryan Catania

They provide amazing care here. If you ever have a traumatic injury this is the hospital you want to be brought to. They have one of the best Trauma surgery teams in the united states and the best neurosurgery teams around.

Elizabeth Ahearn (Liz)

Love the staff here! Always kind, as long as you approach them kindly. Some of my favorite providers are at this hospital.

No bad thing to say about this hospital, I'm glad I keep going back for service. I've read some reviews and lots of people complained about the wait time, not BMC alone; if anyone understands or knows how TRIAGE works they'll know why we wait so long in the ED for the staff to see us. I've visited few hospitals and BMC is clearly not the worst!

I got a broken arm from jumping off this thing at the park and as soon as I did, my dad rushed me here and when I went in, it did not take long for them to take me in, I think I had to wait about 30 seconds! The doctors there were very kind! The X-Ray Doctor was very careful with my arm. When I was taken to my bed, I was offered a blanket and pillow, but I was kind of just hanging out so I said, “No thank you.” They gave me medicines and I had an amazing experience there, they all have great personalities and are awesome! I will be coming back to check out my arm on Tuesday. You guys are awesome! Doctors, if you see this, I am Emily Nguyen and I will make sure to come here whenever I have a problem and Thank You!! - Emily❤️

God bless all the hospital staff always but especially at a time like this. BMC has alot of strange patients or people that want to hang in the halls and waiting rooms but because of the wonderful staff I ????BMC.

Sam E.

Consistently forgot to re-prescribe medications requiring me to wait on hold for 30+ minutes just to get hold of anyone. Avoid at all costs

Wish I could speak at great length about the quality of care I received last night. A local hospital I went to suggested I transfer over to BMC for further imaging and diagnostics following some insane abdominal pain. From the minute I arrived until the very end I felt truly taken care of. Every single person I interacted with were beyond helpful, nice and warm. In particular I want to thank for both of my two nurses who kept checking in on me throughout the night, the doctors who provided a relatively quick diagnosis and care (considering the severity of my case and knowing this is a trauma center I knew my issue wasn’t going to be top of the list, but I was in and out of the hospital in 12 hours with all that), all the doctors who talked to me and were kind and understanding. Hell even Raul (if you know you know apparently!) who transported me to pre-op was awesome to talk to. MaryEllen in particular - she is such a rockstar and made me feel way calmer about the appendectomy procedure I was having. I truly felt like I was taken care of by every single person and will definitely be returning for any emergency care if it ever happens again in the future. My only gripe was it’s a very loud enviroment in the ER and sleeping was tough, though to be expected I suppose. However one of the doctors definitely realized I was struggling and kindly offered some ear plugs and turning off the lights and that was a tremendous help. I didn’t get a lot of sleep, but at least I got in and out relatively quickly. Absolute dream team, and BMC should be proud of all the people on your staff. Thank you so much, I am in recovery at home and I still could not be more thankful for my experience.

I HAD MY VALVE REPLACEMENT HERE 12YRS AGO BY THE MOST WONDERFUL DR SHEMIN THIS HOSPITAL IS THE BEST THERE IS WONDERFUL STAFF

Kwanzan Cherry

Horrible Hospital! The doctor asked me if I need advice, If I am anxious. But everything was so awful. I was intimidated by nurses and securities instead. Also, I was locked up in a narrow room for 2 days. Doctor sucks! I should have never been there. Waste my time!!

Sukarie Temple

Quick check in lengthy wait

Wissam Jawhari

Everytime I visit BMC whether its urgent care or clinic visit it turns out to be a very pleasant visit! All the staff, including the doctors, residents and nurses are very professional, well organized and humane. All the issues I present are addressed right away! Sometimes its a bit crowded since its the only safety network hospital in the area and treats whoever walks into its doors!

Worst experience I have ever had at a hospital in my life last night I had a appointment at 5:30 and the MRI department they did not take me back until about 6. As I was sitting there in the waiting room in the back. I can hear them just talkin about a bunch of nonsense as they were doing people's MRI. When I finally got back to the machine it was almost 6:30. Which my anxiety has already set in. She keeps coming out telling me a few more minutes that they're behind . And I asked well why didn't y'all just cancel me and reschedule me. she tells me to hold on hold on it will only be a few more minutes which was another 10 minutes . After she finally comes gets me and I perceive to get in the machine to do it breast MRI and the pole in the middle of my chest is very uncomfortable. The lady told me if I need to ring the bell she will come in and we will handle whatever the situation it was. After being in the machine about 10 minutes I could not breathe and my chest was hurting I ring the bell.a and tell her She tells me what's the problem I tell her I can't breathe and my chest is hurting. Instead of her coming to the room to check on me and to see if I was okay or to keep asking of the intercom how I was doing ,as other places have done when I've done MRIS. They coming to the room and check on you. This woman had the nerves to tell me to hang in there only eight more minutes. In which I froze and started having a serious panic attack and couldn't even ring the bell because I was Frozen with fear. Then she proceeded to tell me you only have four more minutes and that's when my anxiety panic attack kicked in overdrive and I thought I was dying. When she finally comes in she tries to touch me , I pull away and she tells me you can tell a man designed this machine it's not for comfort. The issues that I have if I ring the bell you stop with the hell you're doing and come check on your patient. I was supposed to have surgery there and I would never even think about returning to that hospital. I will return to Beth Israel Deaconess , Where they treat you with RESPECT AND DIGNITY...AS person who works in the medical field and People with disabilities ,this is unacceptable .People in the medical field need to be a little more supportive and understand especially when have a person in that tiny machine and if they tell you there's an issue you stopped the machine .and going see to your patient. You cannot send my body to this place if I was dead let alone alive I am truly disappointed with Boston Medical MRI staff team. And I am filing a complaint against them.I have anxiety and panic attacks so bad this morning to I couldn't get up and go to work I feel like my walls are closing in. I just hope that this never happens to anyone else with dealing with this hospital and that you all fix it.

MAGGIE HEGWOOD

started out good. Doctors would call with updates on my sister. Then I had to say something. When i called this last time I had to spell her name 4 times to 4 different people then sat listening to music for 15 to 20 minutes. I just hung up. that happened 2 times. I don't doubt the care care she is getting but for gods sake answer the phones!!

Chiks B*tchin' Tarot

Get back to work. A medical facility is for patients to get the care they need, NOT for you fools to express your political views. Disgusting and childish behaviour from people expected to be professionals.

Eliud Vazquez

Very easy to find the staff help you in anyway to find your way.

paul mcgrath

BMC is very professional and thorough in medical procedures. My anxiety is minimized, and my confidence rises, in the reciprocation of communication of specificity of what I need to know about my condition.

Melissa Escalante

This is seriously the worst hospital ever. Never have I dealt with doctors that clearly don't know how to be doctors. My daughter has type 1 diabetes and was getting her wisdom teeth out.first of all they made an appt but when I got there they knew nothing about it, then the first doctor tells her to turn off her pump at midnight come to find out they couldn't do it cuz her sugar was high so the next next doctor said she should of never turned it off and asked why didn't they just give her insulin the first? Right! That's what I said but they suppose to be doctors. Now I just had an on call doctor tell me its impossible that she got her teeth out in the ER. Like are you serious? None of these doctors know what they doing and need to train more and communicate more. Thank god my daughter is OK but never ever again.

Ana Hamel

There neurology is terrible and lies to there patients and I would not recommend them to anyone

haider ali

Amazing place and people. From doctors to nurses and to ground staff.

Patricia Shaaban Michaud

Best place to get help sometimes I love the hospital

Alexandria “Alex” Tobias

I had KIDNEY failure and I'm only 35 years old, nevertheless, the team of doctors I had in ICU for a week were fabulous as well as the nurses. After a week I was transferred to A regular room. At the time I had the best roommate. Having someone I liked and enjoyed spending time with made it a great experience. I have to say the nurses in that department were not a helpful. After a few days I got some fluid in my chest but he didn't think it was that serious. Meanwhile, I had been on DIALYSIS. Well that evening between the fluid in my lungs and a panic attack I was having an extremely hard time breathing and eventually went out. When I woke up I was in ICU again. The doctors and nurses were amazing. I highly recommend this bospital

Dominique Ndayitabi

Dedicated personal and very good doctor and nurse

Dominique Dona

Had a lower back problem and went to the ER and was sent to Fast Track when i got there registration was pretty quick but i had to wait for hours before i can get a room, I've seen nurses and doctors walking by and didn't even look at the room that i was in. They're careless while i was in a lot of pains .will never go there again.

Francesco Catizone

"Exceptional care takes time" is the motto slapped everywhere. FOH with that corporate BS. It's just an excuse. Whether it's from a lack of staffing or poor optimization, a 7 hour wait in any industry is unacceptable, let alone a vital one like healthcare. 7 hours for an ER visit. 7 hours of unapologetic nurses and non-existent doctors. All for an EKG and blood work. Disgusting. A common trend by reading the other reviews. Health care costs an arm and a leg. Run the d**n hospital better.

kimberly turner

Although I want to be proponents of this hospital, BMC makes it EXTREMELY difficult. The billing is always incorrect for Doctor visits and to get any issues resolved is EXTREMELY painful. The doctor is always late and I end up waiting 1 to 1.5 hours for my 15 min doctor visit. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful of people's time. I can understand once but this happens every time. I

I brought my daughter to the pediatric ED with a 103 fever, vomiting and a bad cough at 3am ona Monday. I explained to the nurse that I gave Tylenol, Motrin and she was still with the high fever. I was more nervous because my daughter get febrile seizures, I also told the nurse and she didn't seem like she care. I requested sofran for the vomiting and Xrays after 30 min she gave my daughter and water, she listen to her lungs and said that her lungs sounded clear. the Dr came did the same and gave me discharge papers with a diagnosis of URI (upper respiratory infection) next day took her to Cambridge hospital ER. they did blood test because her temp was 104, urine and xray...her Dignosis pneumonia. We got antibiotics and now she's a happy child not thanks to BMC

Bá Quốc Lê

Really bad service, more than 5 hours for waiting for emergency. Really bad attitude from staff. They did not care about patients, while the patients have to wait for along time, they just eating, talking and do something else.

Lindsey Parcell

My experience with Boston Medical Care was so great that I'm writing my first Google Review. I was in a ER room to be seen within 20 minutes. I want to send personal thanks to Mickie, Christine, Eryn, Nico, Sara, and all of the doctors and nurses and residents who took time to help me and make me feel safe at their hospital. Thank you for making my pain go away.

Michelle Wu

Some of the doctors and nurses are great and kind, but the customer is service is horrible! I was staying overnight for my sister and we had to ask 3 times for some ice due to her extreme swelling! She was in a lot of pain tons of times and the nurses just dismissed it and went off somewhere else! Only reason why I’m giving two stars and not one is because of the sweet lady at the front desk.

Lizbette M. Lopez Rivera

Possibly the worst hospital. My first time ever attending, I arrived on time to my appointment, they couldnt find my two insurances and sent me to an insurance advisor across the room, after he checked that I was indeed covered, he sent me back to see the doctor, I was told I was late now for the appointment, through no fault of my own. I had my two month old with me. The second time I called to make an appointment, I was told to call back in two weeks.. and the third time I got transfered to every department and didnt even get to make an appointment. Basically, I was in deperate need of psychological help and received absolutely no help. I dont even know what else to say, I couldnt even get in.

Flex Baker

I been coming to this hospital ever since i was born!!!! And yes its true everybody. This place needs work and they dont care about you, you're just a number. You feel it. The mental health section is bad. And one time i had a lung virus but it took 3 ER visits for them to treat it!!! First 2 times they told me it was just a mild cold and to drink fluids and otc meds, then 3rd time they went as far as to conduct a spinal tap just to check i didnt have meningitis which ruined my life! Later they come back and tell me it was just a mild lung infection and then they prescribed antibiotics and robitusin which i needed since the beginning. One time due to a crisis they sent me to a mental hospital, Westwood Lodge, which recently has been shut down because of its mistreatment to patients. It was literally a jail. I went for help and they made me worse. They kept calling it one of the "best" hospitals and that's scary. This is why people don't seek mental health. And lately, i have been found to have had numerous kidney stones in short amount of time and yet all that's being done is just little tests but no real treatment. Time is just passing by and i have another kidney stone on the way and they're just observing it. Thats it. Aside all of that, one of the biggest problems I have found is that a majority of the medical staff that sees you and treats you are nothing but Boston University students who are not fully experienced nor knowledgeable of all the medical prospects of the medical field. Altho, i cannot discredit the few excellent doctors this hospital DOES have. Some are Excellent doctors. But overall, as a team, it needs major improvement. Too many party people work here. *MANY PATIENTS HAVE BEEN RECOMMENDING CHILDREN HOSPITAL FOR YEARS. I GET TOLD BY FRIENDS THAT GREW UP GOING THERE THE TREATMENT IS EXCELLENT AND FROM MY EXPERIENCE VISITING THERE, CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IS EXQUISITE, EVEN WHEN THEIR PATIENTS TURN ADULT. FROM THERE, BRIGHAM'S AND WOMEN'S HOSPITAL IS ALSO EXCEPTIONAL AND IS NEAR THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AREA. I recommend these last 2 hospitals if you're a new resident. Boston Medical is locally just known to be a good hospital if u get shot. ????. One thing that also kills me is they dont help you with acquiring a MEDICAL MARIJUANA LICENSE despite it being LEGAL here. Marijuana is what has been helping me with depression but all they want to do is slam pills that have been zombifying me, making me sick and not helping.

Misha

I thought the nurses and doctors were very sweet and they gave me the best care medically and emotionally. I was alone and they didn’t make me feel alone. The doctors were well informing about my sickness and explained the process of how they were going to treat me to get me back to 100%. I got to laugh and hear many stories from the nurses. They made sure I was okay around the clock. Please come to BMC for the best medical and nursing service.

Edou De Justice

I don't have words to explain how my experience was very satisfying to BMC I congratulate the Staff , Doctors, Nurses ...... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I am very glad to refer my friends and family over there. Keep up that great job that you are doing Guys .

Craig Marshall

They saved my sisters life, I’m so grateful for everything they did to my sister and family❤️❤️❤️

June Leonard

Everyone treated me like I am the only patient. My per op screening was though. Now I confident having my surgery at BMC

Lydia Garcia

My dear nephew was admitted as an unknown and Nurse Practitioner Taylor worked hard to identify him. I am so grateful to her and to Dr. Herman who cared so much for an unknown and did everything they could for him. My nephew passed away but I want the world to know that Taylor and the doctor went above and beyond by the way they handled this situation. it may be just another day for them but for us it was everything to know where he is and what he went through. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Ray Cooper

Dr. And Surgeon gets A+ but everything else needs help. I was in no shape to be my own proxy. The ER said I need emergency surgery and was being admitted. They then told my wife who was in the waiting room that I was being admitted and she had to leave. That is all the information they would give her. Morphine did not touch the Pain I was in. I had no clue what was going on around me. The Next Day hospital valet smashed the front end of my car. Would not admit until later. We were from out of State and they could of taken better care for my wife.

Britany Famolare

I had nothing but a good experience until trying to get my sons autism evaluation results..my sons pediatrician has them, but can’t give them to me as it’s a “hippa violation “. BMC messed up and said I’m 51 with a completely different birthday when I’m 25.. and are now telling me i had to come in person all the way to Boston with my ID to verify when they never verified i was 51! After 4 hours i decided to just lie and say it was my birthday and get the issue resolved to get the results, when i was told in fact i apparently “missed” our results appointment when i didn’t and we went over them, and was also told nobody ever put them in the system so that 4 hours i wasted was al for nothing. Please go to children’s hospital or anywhere else to get evaluated. The evaluation process however was great. Getting the results? One word: Horrifying.

Kenya H

Good experience overall. Was very skeptical at first when I visited the ER. I was admitted and received great care from all the staff in the ER dept.

Peter Shelzi Jr

I can't say that I have ever had a very bad experience here. It's very nice that most if not all of the construction is done. My opinion is that they did a nice job with the renovations.

groove groove

My brother is there getting care. He says some of the nurses are mean and when I try to get updates no one is available. Imagine having a loved one in the hospital and you try to hear about their health and you can't. Just stupid and ridiculous.

Este F

Very dissapointed my mom has the qualification to work there and they didn't hire her because she didnt speak english, it is upsetting to see that because it was for a cleaning position and she is a great worker. Its 2021 and sad to see this happened from Jason Kennedy didn't even give her a chance because she was not an English Speaker !

Victoria Brown

Soo, as long as you don't go downstairs to the 1st floor in the morning hours...you won't get bombarded with asks from the homeless that are understandably trying to stay warm. Stayed for 36 hours to help deliver a family baby and was "asked" by each one I encountered. The hospital security just sit there and smile, or just disappear altogether when you feel they could be useful.

Lisa Martinez

I recently had a surgical procedure here and my doctor and the nurses were very supportive and compassionate I suffer from anxiety and I wasn't sure how I would handle it but I felt safe and if I had to get any other procedures done in the future I would go here

Apurva Chaturvedi

They will send the wrong codes to your insurance and charge you money. Just be careful with how you are billed. AVOID IF YOU CAN!!!!

art heaux

You have very poor operator service. I spoke to this one woman with a deep voice (could be a man but I’m betting woman) and she didn’t even greet me. Sounded like she was caught in the middle of her snack break (at 1pm) and smacked her food down as she spoke to me. Didn’t even conclude the call properly; just said “That’s it?” And ended the call. Horrible.

Delmo Avelino

Was born here and have been going here for 15 years great place awesome treatment for anything

Mata Jones

The medical staff was very good and professional... however the administration staff was not ! My husband called to make an appointment he had a lingering cough after a bout with the flu . He called to make an appointment was told that someone would call The next day. No call came , day after he started coughing blood. Called again booked an appointment with nurse practitioner as his Dr had nothing available for two weeks was given option for that day (Tuesday) or the next day asked for same day was given name of practitioner. Went to appointment and was told it was for Thursday. It was a cold rainy day just what someone with possibile bronchitis or worse needed to be out in

Quii Cam

Pediatrician Filed a complaint with Dcf because I raised my voice at her appointment. My kid was lying to her doctor about something...i objected.since when do we BELIEVE the words from a rebellious run away that's in counseling before the parent that has it together mentally??? The doctor apologized that the appointment scheduled was NOT necessary. Why didn't someone tell me that sooner than months time? Not the first time this has happened. No consideration that we drive far, 8am appointment time, $8 parking and a longer than needed walk due to my medical condition. For me to arrive during covid era with two children at 8am I expected a quick visit.... So why did the office call months prior and scheduled this yearly appointment??? For Payment!!!! It's all about money making. Their pediatrician seems to have developed some sort of brain malfunction to BELIEVE she can insert her input on how I communicate with my daughter and raise her. No child should defy their parent that provides 100% towards their care. I will not tolerate disrespect on any level from anyone... And to be requested that I silence myself is never going to happen when I am Being victimized emotionally by child nor doctor- That Doctor M D, M.D IS the reason I will be removing my children indefinitely from BOSTON medical Center Pediatrics . also NEVER OK for me to stand in hallway while 12 yr. Old gets examined- that's my child! as many people passed by closely, then for four to five different people to come in room peeking through door to say hello?give books and unnecessary items with fear of contaminations during covid/ ? Please!!! Social Distance means that!!! Security in morning cared less about 6 feet distance/ i mentioned twice to others to please respect 6 feet distance from children and I...amd someone yelled ...if you cannot stand anywhere stand outside...what???! Very dissapointed...37 years a client, to this.... No way should a doctor report to dcf because conversations weren't to their liking!!!! Explain to these "mandated reporters" what they should report, and why!!! Wrongly judgemental People can ruin families as they did in Our younger days with their bias opinions and False narrated complaints to government agencies. Everyone parents differently! If any parent know what's best for them and their kids...they will find another pediatric facility with more care and compassion for everyone EQUALLY!!! why file with dcf after I fulfilled the satisfaction survey about our appointment honestly??? Shady!!!! No parking for less than $8 ????bloody bandaid on children's waiting area table ????

Yuniar Ika Savitri

I heard about justina case.. It was a scary story for me.

Dr. Zoe Weinstein and the team of nurses at Bmc adult primary care 5B & C are by far the best. There are no words that could do how great they are justice! I hateeee driving into Boston but I will continue to do so I can see these amazing people. They continue to go way above and beyond and it means everything to me!

Jeff Sylvan

We had an experience in line with Carolina, Art, and Kim's reviews, only it was for something much more dire/urgent. We ended up getting assistance from another hospital. Edit/update (2 years later): we gave BMC a second chance and they repeated the same pattern of harmful behavior. We will not be going back.

Jennifer Tseng

The valet parking lead today was a highly professional and pleasant woman who was incredibly kind to an elderly, vision- and mobility-impaired lady getting out of a car who was moving incredibly slowly today. She made her feel like the most important (and safe) person in the world.

s a r a h

They helped my grandma the service is amazing you guys should come here I give them a 5 stars the people are nice.

Patty Wheeler

I had surgery last week and my PACU nurse Bonnie was excellent and I got admitted and the nurses I had Staci & Kim were amazing they were there before I ever rang the nurse buzzer. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable enough and to answer all my crazy questions. My day nurse Dina was the same way excellent care.

theo reidy

This is one of the Best medical centers in the world! I have had the best experiences here, from common examinations to tricky diagnosis', biopsy and procedures, always top notch. Both the staff and the affiliated doctors are the most skilled and knowledgeable you can find anywhere. I don't know how anyone can submit a poor review, but I imagine there are unhappy people everywhere. I am very pleased with the cutting edge medical service at this teaching hospital. Thank you, and God Bless your wonderful work.

Janine Hammarquist

Have not had a good experience at this hospital. Different rules at different times of day. I was told I could not wait with my son who has an anxiety/panic disorder. But hours later waiting with no word to how surgery went, I have seen with my own eyes them letting people stay with patients in the waiting room. There needs to be a better system. Been here since 10:30am for a noon surgery and it is 3:15pm and still no word on my son.

Badass Betty

Unless you're bringing an enemy of yours to the hospital, DO NOT go to Boston medical!! Aside from the entire hospital being horribly dirty and disgusting, the staff clearly does not care or take any time to learn about their patients, my aunt went to this horrible place for what was thought to be an infection, instead of treating her immediately they waited TWO WEEKS for my aunt to suffer, lose a ridiculous amount of weight, and her mental capacity which was fine when she arrived is now to the point where she is completely unresponsive and NOW they are trying to treat her... This is a horrendous hospital, please please do not go here.

S. H.

Me and my wife delivered our baby here, the staff were wonderful. The community around the hospital is very sketch at times as they help people who are in to drugs. The security people can be a little nasty at times, but hey, I would be too when you deal with all the craziness. The Hospital itself is great especially the Labor and Delivery Unit!

The nurses here are great. They really show concern and help you with pain management and any other issues going on. Thank you to the staff at BMC. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without your help! Thank you!!!

A close relative was feeling very sick with lack of air and other symptoms and she was rushed to the emergency room. After the doctor made a few tests, she was told she had 3 days to live, her heart arteries were blocked, just like my late husband did. She was told of the risk of the Catheter surgery and the possibility that she could die while in surgery because of her current health situation and her age. She opted to do the surgery as she was sick and in so much pain, she felt that she was dying. After 2:00 PM surgery started and by after 6:00 PM she was done and she called me with so much joy and energy in her voice that it felt like she gained 50 years extra of lifetime. A few days after the surgery she also said that she was feeling rejuvenated, light, and happy. She didn't feel suffocated or lack of air as before. The Staff and Doctors were the best of the best and so attentive to her medical needs, I was so happy to see her getting the right care with the right hospital. Boston is known for having the best hospitals in the world and this hospital surely proved that. While my late Husband had similar symptoms that obviously showed that something was wrong with his health for about 5 years, he kept denying and lying to me about feeling good, it got me thinking how easy it would had been if he had gone to the doctor and take care of his health. I remember when he was in the ICU and the doctors told me that there were many more men in the ICU with the same health issue. I just kept thinking "Oh waoh ! how many families and wives deal with men who do not like to go to the doctor and get check ups". I have to make this public in a way to create awareness. It is so easy to seek medical help, there is no excuse not to go to a doctor. Even if one had no medical insurance, there is still the choice of, for example, flying to the Dominican Republic and get low cost and best of the best medical care as well. Some of the symptoms before a stroke or a heart attack as I had seen: * Lack of air, weird strange heart palpitations. * Blurred speech. * Poor blood circulation. * Lump in the legs (calf muscle lump, thigh muscle lump) this type of lump is temporary and will disappear, is a real sign. All in all, I am very happy of the medical care from this Hospital. It does feel like a real life miracle.

BMC has always been a place where I’ve received excellent care and service. I had to come to the ER here a few years ago, and I still tell people about the doctors’ and nurses’ pleasant bedside manner and speedy and accurate diagnosis and treatment. Today, I’m not feeling well and called to see if they could squeeze me in and they were able to within the hour. Great place!

Lau Rodrigues

Got a COVID vaccine today and the staff couldn't be more disrespectful and uneducated. Awful experience! You will have to do better than that as she was incomprehensibly rude.

kevin kurias saibu

Doctors and nurses provided very nice and meticulous care.

Jasmin Hooks

Boston Medical Center is the BEST Boston Hospital in Boston hands down. My whole family get their care at BMC and lives have been saved. This is definitely a teaching hospital and I recommend BMC to everyone.

Moses sennyondo

Clean,kind, friendly, professional.

Kristen Conway

I had my first surgery at 46 yrs. old. I can't tell you how wonderful I was treated! Every single person that I came across in this hospital treated me so kind & caring! Every nurse & doctor really acted fast & efficient!! My children and I will make the trip in Boston from now on because it's worth it! Besides the amazing care......Chris really takes care of you and makes sure that you always get the meal you want! Excellent meal planning and very good! Thanks everyone at BMC!!!!

Andrew in the Emergency is very impolite and very unprofessional. I arrived at the hospital at 5:00am and l approached Mr. Andrew at around 6:30. I told him that l was in pain and could l be fast tracked. He told me in a rude tone that my ailment was not life threatening and that there are people there already that are waiting for 6 hours. I explained to him that l was in severe pain and that l needed to got to work a bit later...He told me that "if you don't want to wait you can just leave!" I feel that his tone and the words he chose were rude impolite and unprofessional! I rate 1 star for this hospital if l could give a zero l would.

Michael Durant

The best experience possible for patient care.

Maxwell Rosa

Had baby #1 last year in June. Staff was amazing. Shoutout to Midwife Karen and Nurse Lisa. We are scheduled for #2 tomorrow. Looking forward to the great staff again.

Bee Anne

I went in to get an STI panel done due to my partner testing positive for something. It’s been almost a month now since I’ve gotten my results, it’s also been almost a month since I’ve been treated. It seems like no one but the nurses are able to send in the prescription, yet they’re also never around. My partner was able to get tested and treated before he even left the place, yet I’ve been playing phone tag for about a month now. I have yet to receive my results OR any treatment at all. This is completely absurd and unsafe. While I appreciate what this place does for people without insurance, it’s certainly not an experience that leaves me EVER wanting to come back. The people who handle the phones in the STI department have been extremely kind and understanding. While they are unable to put in the actual prescription, they’ve at least taken the time to hear my grievances and have made notes everytime to the nurses .

Robbie

This hospital staff is really not good. The nurses all seem to be preoccupied with one another and when they finally talk to you it seems like they walked in off the street with no real knowledge about their profession. The lobby is discussing and not cleaned and makes you feel like you are in a psych ward of an old horror movie. Go somewhere else.

Blobby Digital

I have been to this hospital a few times over the past month. My first few visits went fine and I was called in when my appointment was scheduled. I was supposed to return today, August 27th for a 8:30am appointment. I live about an hour from this hospital and expected traffic on my way so I left early enough so I could make it there in time for my appointment without being late. I arrived on time and checked in with the front desk. The receptionist was friendly when they informed me that I actually didn’t have an appointment and they purposely overbooked patients and some are considered “walk-ins” even though they made appointments. I was not happy with the way this hospital treats their patients. Some patient’s appointment matter, while others are just cast aside and left to hope they make the cut to be seen. I couldn’t believe how unprofessionally BMC operates. After waiting a few hours I was finally told that I may be seen sometime after 1pm!!! My appointment was scheduled for 4 1/2 hours earlier. If it wasn’t for my insurance I would never return to this place. They don’t care about anything but the check clearing. I would give them zero stars if it were possible.

Erin Grundman

Everyone seemed nice, but the person doing my eye exam failed to notice there was an astigmatism in my right eye, which meant I got the wrong prescription. Then I gave my insurance card for to the BMC office telling them to charge anything I owe; they took the payment due, then I got a notice from the collections agency saying I owed money. So, my credit was affected for not paying an amount they kept from me for a prescription I couldn’t even use.

Pristine Property Maintenance

Great hospitol freindly people..10Xs beyter then the CAPE COD ONE....

Kanadyjka

Incompetent hospital employees. Do not go there.

Carolina Burgos Lopez

The worst hospital they make me wait 5 hours and never took care of me knowing that I’m pregnant and my stomach hurt so much

Rob Moray

Boston University Medical Center (BMC) is staffed by wonderful workers who care about the health of their patients and work to cultivate relationships that encourage those patients to feel comfortable sharing important information that is pertinent to their medical care. As a hospital, it has a lot of potential to take care of some of the Commonwealth’s neediest patients. However, it is deeply flawed as an institution, even by BU’s typically high standards. From my perspective, it seems to be undermined by administration that pushes efficiency and financial viability over common sense patient care. Doctors seem forced to see patients quickly, and are almost always overbooked, yet somehow run an hour behind. BMC for some time now has moved their call centers out of the building. That’s right: if you call to speak to your primary care physician, the person who answers the phone IS NOT EVEN IN THE SAME BUILDING. All you can have them do is put in a “note” and wait for someone to call back. Up until BMC, I’ve never heard of the concept of calling your doctors office and having the phone picked up by someone down the street. I’m sorry, but that’s not world class medical service, and it can lead to misunderstandings (being booked for an urgent care appointment in a woman’s health clinic, then facing getting turned away as a male because the individual who put the appointment in was not aware of it being a woman’s health clinic, something the receptionist acknowledged was not infrequent). BMC has a big challenge on its shoulders: take care of a high volume of patients, many of whom have public insurance with bad reimbursement rates, but also stay profitable. Admins need to be more mindful about how their decisions impact the perception of the quality of patient care. Then I think they’d see a higher volume of patients with private insurance — and far better reimbursement rates. UPDATE: Take a look at their form-fill, generic response. Anyone who thinks calling a number will change anything is at best naive.

Dydy Auguste

BMC, best hospital for emergency, quality health and customer service.

Carolina Golden

I’m glad they hung up on me if their phone service is anything like their face-to-face service. I tried to make a simple appointment in the family medicine office and each person I talked to was rude and just wanted to transfer me to the next person.

Alcione Rosa

I’m come ER for 11 hours wait for call for see the doctor.

Shaokai Pei

The staff on the phone is very rude and impatient. Never choose this joke unless you have emergencies. I have to take a Covid-19 test which is required by my college or I will never go to this medical center.

Edgar Santana

Very displeased with Dr. Brown.... my daughter has had knee pains for months, she had an MRI done and they found something in her knee and sent her to him. He barely looked at the images and made nothing of her pain and set her for PT. The fact is the PT was making it worst because she does have something in her knee. They treat people like another number, likes it a drive thru service. No care at all for patients. If his misdiagnosis and sending her to PT made it worst, you can believe we are getting a lawyer. Don't go to BMC unless you want that drive thru service treatment.

John Church

I read an article by Jeffery Samet MD, Michael Botticelli and Monica Bharel MD about making Methadone legal for primary care doctors to prescribe. It was very well written and shows that our government has no desire to stop heroin usage or save lives. America is so sold out to the private prisons and expensive rehab centers that they won't even let our personal doctors prescribe a medicine that would cost the patient less than $10.00 a day if they had no insurance. I just hope somebody in power will help fix this .

MAT STRAZZ

They will save your life. Had triple pneumonia, they had to put me in an induced coma for 14 days. Yes they can get swamped. Yes they can get rude with people who should not go to an ER for something so minor that u can go to a clinic in the morning. They are pros treat them with respect. BEST TRAMA CENTER in eastern MA. If you are barely alive coming threw the doors, well u have a great chance of staying alive. This is a hospital not a club med.

Janine Rivera

Wouldn’t even give it one star but it wouldn’t let me write a review otherwise. I made my first patient visit asked the lady on the phone if it was in person she said yes. Well I come all the way to Boston and guess what no one know what they are doing. Complete disaster o didn’t even mind the homeless people at this point but the sober workers are really just something else. Seek care else where this place need organization.

lele lockett

Today was the worse the ER doesn’t have enough staff and instead of implementing that or say go To a different hospital cause the wait something.. everyone in an ambulance was just sitting there I called at 8 got there at 830 still nothing was on a list then I go back no name on list like there’s no way a hospital can be this unorganized so much can be fixed with communication!! Worse hospital .

Angela Mestretta

Horrible!!!!! Bad customer service not to mention dirty filicity! The Family Center I had an appointment @ 2:20 was there to be told the dr called out today. Ok So noone called to tell me and I have to be to work later...but want me to wait two hrs for next dr. !!!!!!!

Erica Harris

Emergency room and blood drawing rooms are Horrible.. with a capital H. Given the wrong information, all they want is money (ER). The hospital all together is extremely slow service and unorganized! Employees are nice though :)

Rushabh Patel

For back pain I went to see orthopedic. After listening me they took decision to take MRI and trigger point injections, I am glad and thanks for that. When I went to see neurosurgeon, she was very professional and flying in the room, I asked her about my MRI & she has only one line to say I am here for trigger point injections I don’t know about your MRI. She was rushing everything. I believe she check me out in just 3-4 minutes. You can’t talk or ask anything as they are in control and you have to see them again until you fix your things. Parking valet facilities are good for new patients who came for the first time, parking garage is just in front of main entrance showed my lady clerk on the ground floor. Over all, make sure you don’t leave room until you resolve all questions or queries in your head. They not going to talk or tell anything useful to you, You have to keep asking them

Sarah

Pediatric department is the worst, the nurses there are very bad, all vaccines that my baby had were on the top of his leg yesterday she did it on the side now it's all blue!! And painful ????????????????he was crying so i left while i was trying to open the door and i couldn't 3 nurses were there looking at me????and believe it or not no one helped me no one they were sitting talking next to the door no one helped me this is sooo bad no humanity they smile just when their superiors are there!!!!????????????????????????????

Diones Lima

Little confusion about where to go because doesn't have clean signs about that. Also the lobby restroons are nasty. Inside is very organized and the orthopedic division crew are awesome, that is great cz children come scared here.

Marie Burrage

I had a wonderful experience in the BMC ER and Eye Clinic. The ER was very well run and the staff were excellent. Their diagnosis was spot on and I got very good treatment and care in both the ER and the Eye Clinic, where they accommodated me despite a heavy caseload. I was very grateful to everyone involved.

Karen Martinez

My best experience in a hospital EVER. Everyone, absolutely everyone from the guys pushing my stretcher, exceptionally great nurses, interns, doctors to even the surgeon gave me such kind and compassionate treatment. Words cannot express how well treated I was and how very grateful I am. Made me cry. They will be in my prayers. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Google User

Careless or understaffed? Maybe both. I had a car accident and they never ordered a scan.. Still living with the pain.. Ask to go anywhere other than here.. Please get better.. I understand Jordan's frustration in these reviews.. If they do that, who's to say that they won't miss or disregard critical life threatening issues and you end up dying here..

Nick Patchett

I can always get appointments with my primary doctor or his NP very quickly and get seen quickly. They are very caring and call to follow up after the visit. Also had good experiences with the care I received when referred to specialists, although the waits for appointments can be a bit long depending on the specialty.

Guerline Saint Louis

OMG, I am Haitian... There is an old hatian proverb "no djol to talk". There's no other hospital than Boston Medical Center.... Best doctors, nurses, they are the best in everything... No one or other hospital can top them, hands down. I will recommend that particular facility to a blind man. They took care of me during my pregnancy. I had a joyful experience, I was very bless...thanks to the entire staff... They know who they are. I can never repay you guys. At that time who were my families. May the good Lord bless and protect you always. With Love Gee

Nancy Rosa

I share this 5 star rating in bmc especially the very kind reception from mask changing to reception to Nurses who deal with so many different personalities a day I give a great score to this hospital To BMC a great no judgemental. BMC you get 5 star from me

Hyacinth Sankey

I was tended to almost immediately. Doctors and nurses were very caring.

Amanda

Katherine Chambers canceled my appointment after I was 10 minutes late. Then proceeded to call me to “check in”, and did not tell me that I would be charged for the phone call. The call was not covered by my insurance and cost $139.00.

Jovy Queen

Let me start by saying....GO somewhere else...BMC is only around because of the name that’s it. The expending and changing this hospital for who? They don’t even treat their customers with respect nor do they care about patients don’t waste your time or money here not worth it believe me....There are the worst... Regardless of insurance or whatever you think will give you better treatment than the rest. Good luck to you all and hope you get treated better than I did.

Linda Masse

Had an outpatient radiology appointment for 2:45 pm today for a cat scan. They ask for you to come early 2:25 pm. Which I did. Well it is now 5:00 pm and I still have not gone in for my scan. Absolutely crazy.

John McCabe

People are too harsh on BMC. There are a lot of great folks doing a lot of great work there. Thank you to the whole staff for helping me in a time of need. Great job.

Liz Pearson

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Making my crippled friend with her leg basically broken not get an MRI for days. Even when she stays on the phone for hours with them scheduling an appointment. HORRIBLE.

Alan Rouse

I was a patient bmc Menino 4 east which is the Renal/Diabetic surgical wing...and the entire staff RN's Nick ..Margaret Kathy and the othe..Amanda etc..I wish I knew all their names ..were just incredible towatd my needs...I hope they all get the recognition they desetve... thanks mucj..Alan Rouse

Penelope Kim

The Center for Integrative Medicine surpassed my expectations! I am so very grateful for all the referrals and support for care. As an out of state student last semester they were one of the only hospitals in my network

Myrka Cessant

Top healthcare place in Boston with exceptional care without exception

Aaron Nuss

Apparently your so-called medical professionals have plenty of spare time to protest there First Lady's visit to your facility. Their time would have been more productive if it were put into caring for those NAS babies and other patients instead of their totally unprofessional attitudes towards a visiting member of the president's family. Shame on ALL of you.

Jose Santiago

I would like to thank Dr. R. Munariz, Dr. Mark Katz and the staff for all the attention I have had received. Your knowledge, values and the disere to help others is a blessing. The three of us together beat cancer!! Siempre estare muy agradecido!!! You are ANGELS SEND TO HELP THOSE IN NEED Thanks Jose Santiago

C Private

A half star would be more appropriate. Operators answering main phone line are unprofessional. 1st call to select 0 for operator was answered with a mumble then I was disconnected. 2nd call to operator again I had no idea what she said when answering the call...just a fast mumble. Was finally transferred to office I requested and their phone skills were not much better. Would barely answer my questions. A little phone training would help your staff.

James Anthony

Many employees seen to care more about making emotional political statements then promoting advances in health care. Avoid the hospital, or do not disclose your politics if a patient.

Hannah D

I've been getting the absolute run-around from BMC with regard to overbilling and billing errors. Please watch out and consider getting treatment *anywhere else* if you have insurance.

Tammy R

I had open ❤ surgery 2 years ago with the BEST Dr.s. Dr. Karlsson & Dr.Awtry-never in a million years did i think i could feel this much better-(wish they could fix the rest of me now)lol- would def recommend BMC

J. Nguyen Graham

I honestly don't know where to start with my experience at Boston medical center.. I had many but the one thing I had to put this review out there so people can be aware of this is so important; I gave birth to my second child and unfortunately due to being at high risk, he was born premature. He was in the NICU for 2 and a half months; a doctor whom I believe is still working there, gave my son someone's baby's breast milk other than my own without realizing it. They notify me and we had a meeting. I was so devastated and angry. How could they let this happen. This was their biggest mistake and wrongful doing on a newborn! I demanded testing to be done on the other parent; who knew if that parent was on drugs, hiv or had anything.. After some blood work and tests, everything came out negative and I was so relieved but I will never forget what that doctor did. Before in Boston medical, you can just give babies their milk but now after in 2014 since that day they made a mistake on my son, it has changed and you can't give babies milk without scanning the bottle/wrist name tag. Shame on them. Secondly, my father had three surgeries done. To make this long story short, again doctors and the nurses in Boston medical center have made major mistakes on patients and continue on to the next day as if nothing has happen. I won't let this go by quickly, I will start by giving out this public review for everyone to know.

Flavia Kalinka

I've been trying to book an appointment with Dr. Phillips for over a year now because of autoimmune disease. I called last year and had to wait 6 months to see her, only to find out a week before my appointment needed to be rescheduled. I had to wait another 6 months to see her and just recently found out they lost ALL my information, had no records of me being in their system and was asked to call again middle June because they were not booking in-person appointment. Called today to try to sort things out since my appointment was supposedly in 2 weeks and the person who answered me told me I could only book an appointment after sending them a referral letter. I'm done with this place, after 1YEAR I'm still haven't seen the doctor, this is ridiculous, they should keep track of their patients files, so stuff like that doesn't happen.

Alexandra Flynn

Dont use their dental program! Two moths post surgery I'm still in pain! Dr. Henry fractured my tooth during surgery!! -Drs had to re-sedate me because I kept waking up panicking mid procedure -While heavily sedated, I remember being shaken and yelled at to open my eyes while unable to move -Woke up choking and unable to swallow, then I had a panic attack, Dr. Henry and resident had no idea why or how to treat -Mom had to tell the dr that my tongue was swollen/hanging out and thats why I couldn’t breathe. She had to lean me forward herself so I could breathe again -Had to ask for an ice pack, should have two wrapped around head which is the typical protocol -Resident asked for medical history, no one looked it up before surgery -Mentioned my jaw was so dense he couldn’t pull the teeth so they had to cut into the bone. I have bone growths from the pressure of grinding/TMJ and he should have known better -Refused to let my mom pull up car out front, Mom had to hold me/ walk me thru streets of boston while drugged and falling over -Ruined crown and had to glue it back on -Only given low dose pain meds for “night time use,” even though he promised better pain care since im in chronic pain already -No post op information package about warning signs or emergency phone numbers, had to find paperwork on the wall for instructions -No follow up appointment was made while I was there - resident who made check in phone call said me and my moms report on my choking was “untrue” and that it “never happened” clearly they’re in denial and refusing to take responsibility for what they put me through

Lorri

The EP Lab at Boston Medical is better than a five star rating. Dr. Robert Helm, Bob Brayboy, Sandra and all other staff made our stay very comfortable. They were compassionate, helpful, pleasurable and comforting.

Mugen SpÖonEr

These people will have you waiting until you die please don't go here REALLY they suck full with crack heads and meth addicts, Plus the workers gossiping about patients plz stay 4 here the emergency room is not even worth going to.

Beverly Turner

Boston medical is a fair employer

ClareBearPhD

Searching for an endocrinologist and psychiatrist, I requested a consultation at BMC. My therapist highly recommended their transgender care center as excellent, and I'm sure it is. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to find out. The department needed my medical records from my PCP, so in August I had his office fax over my information. When I didn't hear back, I tried again in September. I called the hospital to ask what the problem is, and they readily admitted that their fax system is terrible. My schedule doesn't allow me to pick up my records in person, and I've been waiting to get a consultation for over three months. I've decided to just go to Fenway. Hopefully their fax system actually works.

Matthew Apkarian

Went for a routine physical, ended up getting billed for an asthma consult visit. As expected, we discussed medical history, including when I had asthma 20 YEARS AGO. I was not seeking treatment or any help other than my routine physical, which is covered by insurance. This is fraud. DO NOT TRUST THEM.

baby papoose

I called for an appt they told me call back next week.

Thanh Dao

I have been to BMC , it’s ok ! I got good treat and respected, back to 2012 I have my eyes surgery for cater-rat , last month l go to BMC for X-Ray my legs and people are so nice to me, I like to use my language to say Cam on !

Christen Umenhofer

Worst experience I have had at a hospital. I admitted my husband to the ER at 4AM, one nurse came to give morphine for a fractured scapulo, no nurse checked on him for 4 hours, at 830 the doctor came in to check up and get an xray after him already got one 4 hours prior. Then a CT Scan, then a additional xray. No water or food was provided when requested from 4AM to when we left 12PM. Horrible, draining, and exhausting experience.

Taryn Thoman

I had a positive experience addressing a fairly serious health matter at BMC last year that included a 3 night stay. I'd arrived early and sat in the lobby. A short time later a security guard told me I would have to leave. It turned out he thought I was a homeless person trying to stay warm. Rather than take offense I thought it was nice that the homeless people are permitted shelter from the brutally cold winter weather in Boston. BMC is attracting some of the finest surgeons and specialists in the country, and I was lucky to be treated by one of the best. I have only high praise and thanks to everyone at BMC!

Frank Gimlet

I had my surgery done here the doctor is excellent the nurses excellent too overall great experience gave me my life back again

Kris Kim

told them i have an international student health insurance from the beginning to the end. 30 minutes of waiting, i asked how long would i have to wait more to see the doctor and the staff talked to me in an irritated tone, saying she cannot have my information go through. finally, after an hour, they told me they don't take international student health insurance.. I WAITED FOR NOTHING EVEN WHEN I TOLD THEM I HAVE THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT INSURANCE FROM THE BEGINNING.

Christianne Tardif

I was a patient at the orthopaedic department. After only one appointment on which I saw only the doctor, I was charged $680 dollars for using a room I never entered, a nurse I never saw. I called the orthopaedic department and the billing department more than 9 times to fix the incorrect bill with no avail. DO NOT USE THE ORTHOPAEDIC DEPARTMENT! They have a very dishonest billing procedures. I can't review any other departments.

Ted Bond

My girlfriend and I waited there for 4 hours when it wasn’t busy just for her to take a few meds. Terrible experience

Jake VanL

The physicians and staff are attentive, competent, and caring.

Jordan Provencial

Showed up 30 minutes early for an appointment, coming from over 2 hours away only to wait an additional 1+ hours for a simple follow-up. They shouldn't be allowed to bill you if they won't get you in on time, because waits like this are just criminal. Highly recommend going somewhere else closer to your location.

John Hammersley

I went to the emergency room to get mental health treatment on the anniversary of my girlfriend's death and the nurses there called her brother into my room , who I didn't know at the time was a Boston policeman working there at the hospital. He came in and harassed me for her death while trying to recieve treatment . Since her death I've been a homeless addict in the Mass. Ave area and think about her on a daily basis.

Ignacio Martos

These guys basically stole $300 from me for a 20 minute phone consultation. Shameless.

Shaniece

The worst hospital ever. I delivered here twice last year and this year. First delivery was okay second delivery sucked. I had a weekend nurse who was extremely rude and seemedcto always be in a rush. She told me I could not have a car seat because they don't do that. I asked about making sure my child was registered for the right health insurance under the proper name and she said she did not know what I was talking about. I asked for pain medication because I was in pain, she said I could not have any because I didnt have a C-Section. She wasn't even concerned about my pain. It took me a whole 3 weeks after I delivered for the birth certificate people to submit my child's birth certificate and social security card because they did not want to accept my FEDERAL ID that has my new last name along with the court documents. They said I must have a drivers license. Which I know is BS. Then I have been calling primary care for the last week trying to get my doctors availability to sign a paper and the people keep saying they will call me back and I still have not received a call back. What's the point of my chart if the doctors don't use it. And the list goes on. I will never deliver here again, switching primary care. And will never recommend this hospital to anyone. Worst hospital in boston.

Isabella Alexis

I recommend anyone going to this hospital do not go to see Sepehr Sekhavat MD, he is very insensitive & in my opinion a liar & not a trustworthy person. He does not seem to be very professional or knowledgeable. He does not have any personable skills dealing with patients who are sad or confused about situations they are in, instead he talks down about them calling them angry individuals etc. He also took some ultrasounds during my pregnancy and said my daughter had something wrong with her heart and he was totally wrong about it, so he scared me and my husband for nothing. I ended up getting a second opinion & ultrasounds at Boston Children’s Hospital and everything was normal & even had my daughter checked afterbirth and there was nothing wrong with her thankfully.

Joyce Dugal

Everything went well staff on point very nice. Everyone have the spirit of Christmas.

moony sunny

Customer Service it's very bad, Unprofessional, Zero for communication, Zero for service...

Christine Fumo

Good Hospital and Dr. Tony Tannoury is the best however our experience with the Hospital staff after surgery was not entirely a positive one. Then at discharge we were basically told by Margaret Kerns NP that we could not wait for our ride because the bed was waiting to be filled. I work for a Hospital and I would never dream of saying this to a patient. Very disappointed!

robert rose

B.M.C. is and will be the only place I go for my hospital needs, the Doctor's and staff are second to none.

Kim Uyen

These women that I talked to on the phone were rude with despicable tones. Answering the phone shouldn't be their jobs at all. I wonder if it's because of their work environment causing them to talk that way to the customers. They're rude to you making it hard for you to be nice to them, it's a vicious cycle that needs to break.

Mikel Jones

I was really against having my baby at BMC because of the opiate addiction epidemic that is so blatant right around the corner. But I decided to give it a go! Such great caring staff every time I went for a check up in the antenatal unit. The labor and delivery room I was put in was absolutely beautiful and sooo clean! I (emphasis on I) day in the toilet lol. The labor and delivery staff were amazing! The anesthesiologists were amazing, the nurses who helped me through my two day stay were awesome. I had a complications while delivering the baby and the communication was great between those responsible for my care and myself. EXCELLENT! Excellent! Suck a great birthing experience.

On tv right now!! Protest our 1st Lady. Wouldn't send a dog to your place. Was put on hold for over 10 minutes but held on to make sure they heard my voice. 1st they tried to say it didn't happen then they said yes it did happen.

I would HIGHLYYYY NOT recommend going to this hospital. I went here for problems relating to my jaw (TMJ) and ended up coming out with with worse issues and pain, needing to be put on muscle relaxers, naproxen and having to go to physical therapy. Let me just tell you guys I haven't been able to open my mouth completely for 3 months!!!

Mohammad Shlool

I wish if they have zero stars , this place way far from what you read in their mission , no respect no respect for the employees with color and minorities. I will never work with them for millions of dollars. I was miserable and targeted and not respected what so ever .

Kay Tran

Please do not come here!!!

This place is a joke of a medical establishment

Andrianto Arief

I heard all the story about this hospital, especially about Justina's case. This hospital no different with experimental arena.

Staff here is amazing. Especially the Moakley building and the center for digestive disorders. Doctors and nurses alike. The facilities are state of the art. And of course very well maintained. Excellent! Feel so lucky having access to of one of the best facilities in the world.

So, we, Kevin O'Brien, and I have have been coming here for 8-9 years, since he was life meded off Nantucket. He is a gastro patient, and now unfortunately, a pulmonary patient. Boston Medical Center, everone from the docs, nurse's, security, ER, to the valet parking associates, have really been exceptionally good to us for all the times we've been here. For surgeries, treatments, for whatever we have come out here for over the years from western mass, you all have been a blessing. God Bless all that you all do. We are blessed to have Boston in our back yard. Melissa and Kevin

Ariana Breslin

absolute worst experience of my life. spent 5 hours here just for an endoscopy that takes TEN MINUTES. AND RECOVERY TIME OF 30-40!! now forced to pay absurd amount of money for parking in their garage because these people are so incompetent. thanks for a giant waste of my time boston medical ????????

I am a Disabled Veteran who suffers from chronic PTSD and had asked for assistance in getting to the VA Hospital. I was denied assistance and treated with disrespectful language!

bmc Really sucks like I went in June 11th for my records on a legal case on going it has been a whole month and no call back this has set me back significantly. I took it up on myself to call them because this is ridiculous and they told me that it was ready for pick up and they couldn’t even tell me why no one called me to let me know my records were ready as of today I’m switching my hospital I will not subject my children, friends, or anyone to this hospital

Appointment for 130pm,,,, now almost 7 still waiting not to mention my ride back home, over an hr drive... SMH.

Tavarez Mvp

Really bad service, more than 8 hours for waiting for emergency. Really bad attitude from staff. They did not care about patients, while the patients have to wait for along time, they just eating, talking and do something else.

My father was recently admitted at the BMC and we’re incredibly pleased with the attention and service he received from all the staff. Everyone from the food service, house keeping to nurses and doctors did a great job in making his stay as comfortable as possible. One person in particular that went above and beyond was Sergio (PCA at Menino 7th floor) it is very obvious that he loves his job and I can’t express my gratitude in the way he treated my father, always asking if there was anything more he could do for us. Thank you all

Shonnese Reid

Wait times in the ER are bad but once you are seen, doctors are pretty thorough. My PCP is great and very considerate. Keep up the good work, Marielle. The big issue I seem to have here is getting hold of her, or any doctor for that matter. I'm seen in the family medicine clinic and everytime I've gone, they tell me to lose weight and go home. I come in with various aches and pains, tightness of muscles and circulation issues in my legs and arms and each and every time I go, I'm told to lose weight and "give it time". If I wanted to hear that, I would have talked to a family member. Whether it's in the ER or trying to be seen in a doctor's office, there are too many hoops to jump through, too many people to call, and too many appointments to make before anyone actually sees you. By the time I can get in to see a doctor, any issue I have has either resolved itself (temporarily) or I've taken it upon myself to treat it using household remedies. All of the offices are closed on weekends and, as a result, I've had to go into the ER instead of scheduling an appointment or speaking with an on-call doctor. This is very expensive and I'm a working college student. I dont have the time or money to go into the ER as much as I do. I have gone into a doctor's office or the ER every other week, with the same laundry list of problems, for the past year now. You would think that, at this point, someone would have thought to address at least one of the issues I deal with on a daily basis. I am overweight, with a lengthy family medical history. When I come in with a genuine concern, the least they could do is actually run some tests and do some imaging. Instead, I'm given some subpar life advice and yet another prescription for naproxen. I wouldn't have an issue with this if the pain I deal with didn't keep coming back. My anxiety is through the roof since I started going to this hospital and I wish someone would take the time to try and allay my doubts. I don't trust anything that I'm told, as I've heard stories about people receiving less than adequate care from this hospital. I'm beginning to understand why so many people advise against choosing BMC for your care. I'm in the family medicine clinic so often that every single time I've gone in with pain, I've been brushed off and disregarded by staff and providers alike. One of the desk staff actually rolls her eyes everytime she sees me. Maybe if my pain was addressed the first time I went in, she wouldn't have to see me so damn often. I am in very real pain almost constantly and, unfortunately, BMC is the only place i can be seen (because I have their insurance). I wish I could go somewhere else, where I could hopefully be taken seriously and have my pain addressed. I'm thinking of switching hospitals simply because of how much time and money I've wasted being seen here. Even now, I am sitting in radiology waiting for an x-ray (that i had to beg my provider for), its taken an hour and a half for my doctor to verify the order for my x-ray. As many times as I've gone in complaining of chest pain and circulation problems, I found out that not one doctor has checked my cholesterol, I had to tell my doctor to order the lab work. I dont understand why seeing as i've been overweight my whole life and my father and all 4 of my siblings have high cholesterol AND THEY'RE ALL SEEN AT BMC. I can't do this anymore.

The worst hospital experience iv ever had ! Just came off a ventilator doctor came in few hours later and told me I was going to be discharged!! I Informed them I’m not from mass I don’t have a ride or any idea we’re im at !! They still wanted me out !! They sent in a social worker who was the rudest lady iv ever met I was handed a cab pass to south station then told it was up to me to get home from there !! Again no money or any idea we’re I’m at I was told that’s not there problem!! This is the most unprofessional hospital I have ever been to I never want to go back there again!!! I do not Recommend this hospital to anyone!!!

Dianna Smith

Actually the doctors and medical staff are excellent, but lately they have been so busy it takes half hour to get to the door and the valet asks you to circle around after you have reached the door.

Melissa Haletky

I saw Dr. Mccarter once and I am ready to drop her.She put in a perception for a medicine, and it was CVS brand. She lied about referring me to a person who is saposed to work witb people who have ASD. I looked up that person's profile. This person is an NP, has no picture,, and does not List ASD as a specialty. I would give her 0 stsrs I would.

Awful sadistic nurses at the ER. Avoid this hell hole at all costs

Pradeep Chakravarty

I am very pleased with the care I receive, Thanks for caring for me.

It was okay until they wouldn't give me my ADHD and my anxiety meds. They told me I had to pick one. I had two doctors before for two and a half years at BMC, and it wasn't a problem. BMC helped me at one point. They helped me discover my ADHD. My disorder did not appear when I was young. I did well in school, etc. When the other docs left, I'm stuck with this overly strict doc. They weren't as nice the other doctors. If you have two disorders that require two different kinds of meds I guess you have to choose. Tough luck. There were competent nurse practitioners and docs there years ago; I'm not sure now. I haven't been there. Great trauma center and neonatal unit. Not-so-great outpatient psych. I'm not speaking of the inpatient-only outpatient. I’ve never seen the inpatient or been a patient. One of the good docs I had was an inpatient doctor as well, and he was terrific. So I would think if he were part of it, it would be good.

Erika G.A.

I’ve been coming here for 21 years with no major issues BUT I’m not always taken seriously. It’s unfortunate but with time crunches, medicaid, and a hospital in a troubled area you get doctors who don’t take the time to explore every thing you say to them. For example, I once told my NP I was experiencing arrhythmia at night and they chalked it up to anxiety. I should’ve pressed to see a cardiologist. Please make sure you fight for the treatment you want if you come here!

waiting for a hours when i have a appointment calling everyone that came after me been waiting on this appointment weeks they treat everyone like they are feens because they got crackheads all around the building

Disgusting staff. Treated my father like trash when he had a workplace accident and came into their ER profusely bleeding from the laceration on his forearm. He had completely severed two muscles and required 14 internal stitches to repair the muscle and 14 more stitches to close the wound. Triage nurses told him to control his own bleeding and to sit down and wait his turn when he was already turning pale from blood loss. They were rude, condescending, and did not give a damn about his welfare. Security guards saw his condition and got doctors to admit him immediately. Avoid their ER if you can, if you can't, good luck getting past their front staff.

It took several months to see Dr. Carolyn. I enjoyed visiting with him but my follow up is not going well. I am experiencing a lot of pain and that is why my primary took me out of work and I have fecal incontinence and the dr thinks I can go to work. I quite don’t understand. The secretaries might not have listened to me. I work a job where they don’t accommodate me going to the bathroom during my shift; only during my lunch and fifteen minute breaks so having bathroom problems would not work for the job. My primary and I were hoping that my stomach would feel better and we could figure out a solution to having these issues. I don’t see this happening here. I am very disappointed. The secretaries are very rude in this office and should be fired. They are not people friendly at all. I always feel like they really don’t want to assist me and listen to my concerns. I fired them because of their lack of care. Only in it for the money.

Final Update 07/10/2018. Original 3 Stars changed to 5 Stars..... An hours drive away, first impression not a good one. Not a good neighborhood and being a "safety net" hospital very crowded and busy. My family had no choice due to insurance to come here. Dr's office called to our voicemail to move up appointment supposedly because Dr had to do urgent surgery, but when we called back, NO ONE IN NEUROLOGY KNEW WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT. Drove in early anyway, but receptionist had no clue. Appointment was still on as usual with no delays noted. Not a good first impression for possibly life threatening intervention..... Still waiting for doctor, so a later review will be forthcoming about how we were treated......... Its all about the money........ Extremely sad that's what it comes down to. UPDATED REVIEW BELOW 04/09/2018 Noted for above... Doctor apparently shares clinic with others. Different person came out in about 30 mins calling our names. Met with doctor whom we researched earlier who had significant credentials. Serious unique medical condition was explained with surgical intervention required. A date in April was set. Impressed with doctors knowledge, details in explaining potential issues, and plan of action. Fast forward to first week in April. Surgery performed within "as expected" parameters. Several difficult issues encountered but SICU staff were understanding and more than willing to listen to family member's unique knowledge of patient. Recovery will be more complicated that originally thought. Still many issues to resolve due to the uniqueness of the surgery. Most of the doctor's involved seem to listen to our opinions and suggestions. We will keep up hope. Original post was 03/05/2018. UPDATED below again on 05/05/2018. Still several issues of medication and long term goals to be resolved. I will say that the SICU staff went far beyond our expectations as to care and concern. They LISTENED to our concerns and related them to medical staff with positive results. Most medical staff were actually open to knowledgeable concerns that were brought to their attention. There were some significant setbacks due to a serious disconnect in communication among medical staff but overall things are improving. If my family member didn't have a medically knowledgeable advocate fighting for them I think outcomes would have been very disastrous. Each patient should be evaluated on their own merits and care monitoring needs before being moved out of ICU to another floor. We are still waiting for a few more consultations, but it is believed my family member may be discharged within two weeks of this review date above. My overall impression of critical care staff is outstanding. However a few floor staff probably should not be in this profession... This is how it may be in any hospital though... Disappointing that doctors promise one course of action only to have it challenged by the insurance/moneychangers. I always thought the patients recovery was primary concern. All of us upset by reversal of a decision that would have speeded up recovery. Several care issues seemed to be changed only on weekends when there is minimal or no administrative oversight. But on Mondays, when these issues are forcefully challenged by our advocate, things get changed back to where they should be.... My praise for BMC staff is very compartmentalized but they know who they are. Final update 07/10/18. Our family member was finally discharged in late May. There were still several issues with medication and physical and occupational therapy to be sorted out. It was difficult at first, but things have been improving greatly. It will be several more months before we know for sure if all will be back to normal. However considering the seriousness of the surgery involved, we are grateful for the progress so far. My praise for the medical staff, Critical Care Nursing staff, and other ancillary services is significant. We were treated as people and not "I am a doctor and you are not."

BMC was created by the formal merger of Boston City Hospital (BCH), which was the first municipal hospital in the United States, and Boston University Medical Center Hospital (BUMCH) in July 1996 which was sponsored at founding by the Methodists and then by Boston University. Boston University School of Medicine opened its doors November 5, 1873, combining the Female Medical College of Boston with the medical staff of the Massachusetts Homeopathic Hospital. Dr. Israel T. Talbot was the first chairman of the Department of Surgery at BU while also serving as the first Dean of BUSM. The history of the Department of Surgery at BU dates back to 1946, when Dr. Reginald H. Smithwick was recruited from Massachusetts General Hospital to serve as Surgeon-in-Chief. With him, he brought a team of talented surgeons, including Dr. Jesse Thompson, a pioneer in vascular surgery; Dr. Douglas Farmer, a gastrointestinal surgeon; Dr. Chester Howe, a specialist in surgical infectious disease; and Dr. George Whitelaw, a noted educator and general surgeon. Smithwick served as chairman for nearly 20 years, and was followed by Dr. Richard Egdahl who was recruited from the Medical College of Virginia in 1963. Dr. Egdahl continued to pioneer the clinical research capabilities, and later retired in 1973. In 1997, Dr. Egdahl was named the first Alexander Graham Bell Professor of Entrepreneurial Medicine at BUSM. Following periods of leadership by Drs. Lester Williams, Peter Mozden, Robert Hobson, Edward Spatz, James Becker, and Gerard Doherty, in 2017 Jennifer F. Tseng, MD, MPH, assumed the position of Surgeon-in-Chief at Boston Medical Center and Chair and Utley Professor of Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine. In March 2017, the Boston Medical Center announced that it had received a $25 million gift, the largest in its history, from John Grayken and his wife, Eilene. The donation will go to the creation of the Grayken Center for Addiction Medicine at BMC. Michael Botticelli was named its director. - Wikipedia

My dad spent a few days at Boston Medical Center and on the day he was being discharged they prescribed him Augmentin which is a penicillin antibiotic. My dad is HIGHLY allergic to penicillin and it is in his medical files and he was also wearing a red ALLERGY bracelet. Before he left, I asked them to confirm they DID NOT prescribe him penicillin and they told me they prescribed something that didn’t contain penicillin. Due to them prescribing my dad the wrong medication, he had a SEVERE reaction and ended up back in the hospital a day after being discharged. This hospital is understaffed and rushing during their shifts causing severe harm to patients.

An excellent hospital with fantastic staff and medical personnel. I have been to my share of hospitals and these guys are top notch in my book. I won't go anywhere else unless they reccomend for me to go elsewhere, which they have yet to need to do in over 10 years. This is not the hospital to go to if you want to take daily strolls in a park as it is a city hospital. Not all of the professionals here smile all the time as they can be very serious about their work. The E.R. staff are very tallented and though you might wait for some time, their ability to work as a team and as individuals guarantees you top knotch medical attention. If you have loved ones who suffer with mental health issues, the upbeat, professional and tallented staff of the entire department make a possitive difference in peoples lives.

The food was very expensive , also the pizza taste like water. The only good thing was the waiter he was very helpful.

First I do want to say that the actual medical care I received here was great, the providers were all excellent. However, my experience with the administrative and billing departments in particular was atrocious. I was billed incorrectly for a procedure which I never had done, and despite the doctor confirming this was the case with the office staff, my bill was never changed, and I was forced eventually (on threat of collection) to pay a co-pay for this procedure which I never had. All subsequent calls to the billing department and even the patient relations department were worthless; they strung me along saying my case was under review but nothing changed after a full year of following up. I would never come here for medical care based on this experience again, I was basically robbed.

My brother has been in BMC for 3 months he was transferred there a hospital in southern Maine because they were not equipped to handle his injuries. They could not transfer him to Maine Medical Center because there were no beds because of the pandemic. We have been working to try and get him back to Maine we’re his insurance and family are. The case workers have been totally unable to handle this situation . We are working with Omsbud in Maine to try and locate a bed for him. Because of the pandemic it is not easy to find care for him. The case workers will not call the Omsbud case worker so he can get information regarding my brother to be able to place him. When I found a vacant bed and asked the case worker Olana to send his records she sent the wrong records and not the updated ones so we lost out on the bed. My brothers name is Paul Ramsey and we want him back in Maine. They will not even give his records to his health care proxy. I find this hospital totally unable to help us or any other patient.

I’d give 0 stars if I could. Came in here telling them I think I broke my ankle. They said “if you can stand on it it’s not broken”. I insisted they x ray me because I knew it was and they did, but quickly told me (within seconds of getting the X-ray) that it was just a sprain. Two weeks later, feeling 100 times worse, I go to a different hospital where they look at my X-ray for a good 20 seconds before they tell me I have a broken leg, ankle, and 3 ruptured ligaments. I had to have emergency surgery because if I waited any longer I’d need complete ankle replacement. The doctor said (exact quote) “you would have to be retarded to miss this” on the x ray. Don’t go here. It’s been almost 6 months and I’m waiting on my second surgery, could’ve been much longer had I listened to BMC. Definitely considering sueing considering the fact my medical bill is now upward of $30k. God awful

I have to change my review from1 star to 3 thanks to the kindness and consideration of one employee. Her name is Hilda and she is an appointment scheduler in the cardiology dept. She went above and beyond to help me get an appointment. I was anxious about my medical condition and wanted to be seen asap but because of my work schedule I couldn't get an appt. for months which only added to my stress and anxiety. She waited patiently on the phone as I tried to figure my schedule out but unfortunately there was nothing that fit my schedule for months! I hung up disappointed. 2 days later she called me back to say she had a cancellation on the only day of the week that I could come in. She said she remembered me. She did not have to do that yet she went above and beyond to accommodate me. If BMC had more employees that are as compassionate and conscientious as Hilda, it would be a 5 star hospital! Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference! Thank you Hilda!

The doctor charged my insurance a lot of money just to go through my medical history from a previous doctor. GI appointment wait time is ridiculous.

Zariia W

Such controlling jezebels. All the doctors were high off something when I delivered my daughter. One forced shots on my daughter against my will on her check up and made me come for another "check-up" after the check up. Phone staff are ghetto and rude. They changed my doctor 3 times throughout my pregnancy and do not take women of colors health seriously. Just disgusting human beings

They have the best Turkey sandwiches. A great place for a nap after getting wrecked on methadone mile.
