Right now this firm has a score of 3.6 stars out of 5 and this rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is high, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Plastic Surgery is classified in the category of Medical Center.
The phlebotomist at Quest Diagnostics seemed to be in a big rush despite the waiting room having only one other patient. Recommend visiting a different center if you have even a mild fear of needles
Where I was born , and proud to say I still live less than 20 mins. away from one of the BEST hospitals in the world ????! What else can I say.
Dr. Rozental is conscientious, knowledgeable, and thoughtful about her prescriptions/recommendations regarding procedures. Additionally, she has a personable and pleasant demeanor. I highly recommend her.
As a family member of an employee, I am highly disappointed on how they are handling Covid. They do not care about their employees, tell them to slap a mask on and they are fine, positive or not. THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE TESTING. It should be MANDATORY for the hospital to test employees if an individual is found positive!
I personally would like to point out the fact that if you’re looking for affectionate sincere nurses and staff, this is NOT the place for kind humane treatment. From the check-in desk to simply let them know who you’re visiting the people working the front desk aren’t helpful. They’re not willing to answer questions. You would think that working in a hospital people would be very caring, helpful, sincere, genuine but their hospitality isn’t all there. While I’m grateful that these robots are doing their job taking care of patients, it’s quite disturbing seeing most of these nurses acting like robots with no sense of humanity, affection and not building a caring connection with their patients. It’s disturbing seeing them treat patients like objects and not really having any type of sympathetic emotions. Not listening and choosing to rush and get through a treatment instead of PERHAPS listening to the patient and going at the appropriate pace. It’s highly aggravating watching some of these nurses being spoken to by their patients and you can tell they’re desensitized and what the patient is saying is going in one ear and out the other. And, can’t forget about I watched a nice couple who had a language barrier being ignored by the front desk associates asking directions to an elevator. Here I am minding my business in the waiting area by the entrance, and the couple felt more comfortable coming to me, a complete stranger, asking them for directions to the elevator, and I went to the extent to walking them to the right area and pointing them in the right direction to visit their own loved one.
I am a patient through Workers Compensation and I had no choice but to leave BIDMC for another facility due to the efforts (or lack thereof) of Dr. Rana and Dr. Davis. The results of a nerve block were skewed when Dr. Rana jabbed the needle into my bone by mistake, causing a week of increased pain and discomfort and masking the effects of the temporary nerve block. She neglected to use dye contrast during the procedure, which would have helped her with her accuracy issues. There was no communication between Dr. Rana and Dr. Davis, both of which made it clear that they did not respect each others opinions. Dr. Davis trippled down on a CRPS diagnoses that was already debunked by multiple tests with Pain management, and said that he sees cancer patients and people with missing limbs so I should feel lucky that all I have is permanent knee pain and move on with my life. The extreme lack of professionalism and effort towards their care by both Doctors forced me to start over with another facility, which is not easy when every appointment is a legal battle.
It is a leading medical center of world recognition, the public health service is leading as well as the neurology service. It has all the medical specialties and the humane treatment is more than excellent.
I’ll I have to say is that my relative currently works here and let’s just say it is the worst job my mom has ever had in her 30+ years of living in the U.S. They are so rude and disrespectful to their employers and don’t want to solve nothing. They pick and choose who they want to defend and not defend. They are sick as hell in that hospital especially in the food service environment.
I recently had my second knee replacement at Beth Israel Hospital. I cannot sing the praises of the nurses and staff at the hospital enough. In particular, the expertise and compassion of Dr. Robert Davis and his Physician's Assistant, Lia Moceri, were second to none. Thank you to all for my ability to walk without pain!
I just started getting my medical care here from multiple providers and I must say that I am VERY IMPRESSED WITH EVERYONE THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED!!!!! I have been dealing with Boston hospitals off and on since I was a little kid!!! I live in Rhode Island and I don’t mind the travel for ABOVE EXCELLENT CARE!!!! I know that things are tough with the pandemic and my heart goes out to the patients their families and the staff!!!!! I’m a former CNA and I know how tough things can get! Wishing everyone the best!!!
I usually would give 5 stars for my other experiences here. But labor & delivery has a anesthesiologist in training (March 14th) that decided to practice on my back for the epidural placement. He got it WRONG and still tried again while I was in excruciating pain from my contractions. He seemed more concerned in practicing placement instead of asking his trainer for assistance after seeing & hearing me in a lot of pain,, which after an hour trying he finally called her in and she did the placement within 30secs!! The nurse and other staff was awesome though. But I'm sorry they need to have volunteers provided for practice and the seasoned anesthesiologist should've stood there with him to make sure he got it right and just in case be there to immediately assist. Thank goodness my dilation was slow or else I would've felt everything while delivering by the time I received the epidural!
The doctors and nurses completely lacked compassion. I was hospitalized at BIDMC for four days and that caused me huge mental trauma. To begin, I was starved for 3 days, because each day they would come and tell me the doctor MAY operate you today, so no eating or drinking. This happened 3 days in a row. Despite the fact I was having multiple panic attacks and was begging the doctor to give me medication to help me sleep, no one helped me at all. In fact, a RN and doctor came in to tell me: you are just anxious, as if anxiety was nothing serious. I was mentally destroyed at the hospital and it took me many months to slowly recover. My friends all believed I got PTSD from BIDMC. Hospitals are supposed to make patients feel they are being taken good care of, instead, at BIDMC I felt like I was going to die there. I didn't ask for much, I just hoped the doctors and nurses to stop telling patients: you are just an anxious person -- saying that without providing any actual help can lead to traumatic consequences.
I had gastric surgery dr Daniel Jones is a butcher I would not recommend there wls support program. Everyone just lets fat mouthed dr Jones do what he wants Stay away dr Jones is a butcher
Dr. Hezel was absolutely fabulous. He was very knowledgeable and kind and I never felt rushed. The woman at check-in was very friendly and I was incredibly impressed by the efficiency. As soon as I arrived, I was directed to radiology for an x-ray. I was taken in immediately and then sent back to Dr. Hezel's office where I was almost immediately taken into the examination room. Dr. Hezel arrived moments later. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I was so happy that I had chosen to see Dr. Hezel.
Terrible experience with my PCP telling me to ‘loose weight’ before they consider assessing any of the conditions or symptoms I was having. Suspected I had hemmoroids and went in saying so. Doctor checked me out, seeing that I was clearly in excruciating pain in that area and said she found nothing wrong. Had the hemmoroid become external days later when the first COVID wave hit Boston and haven’t had it looked at again. Went to see the dermatologists when I was getting deep, large acne on my face. Doctor said she couldn’t do anything and gave me some suggestions to GOOGLE myself. Got charged $200!! On top of this there was TERRIBLE billing errors. I was dealing with one billing fiasco so long it had been OVER A YEAR since the date of service and my insurance company and the hospital were still saying two different things. Not even the only billing issue I had here. Had things go to collections before getting billed to my insurance which caused a HUGE mess. I dropped this place and my insurance company due to the actions of this hospital. Weather they are to busy or to understaffed, there is just very little attention to detail and a low level of care. Find somewhere else! DONT go here!
Dr DeAngelis is amazing! He truly cares about his patients. From my first visit he was present with me, he listened, explained things (so anyone can understand). His interactions with me has been nothing but positive. He's a true gem of a doctor. More should learn from him. I highly recommend Dr DeAngelis and his awesome team to everyone needing help with their shoulder.
I had a very very good experience at BIDM. Went in totally unexpectedly for an inflamed and horribly infected knee... the doctors, nurses and staff were super helpful, professional, timely manner, kind, courteous, respectful....I would recommend BIDM to anyone for any medical impairment big or small. I /we are truly lucky to live in Massachusetts/Boston where we have literally THE BEST doctors and nurses and hospitals in the world!! I am very grateful!! BTW, the food service/quality is out of this world good!! I really miss the meals:) Kudos to all of you for such a great job!!!
Not once, but twice I was told I had an appointment at BIDMC for the day to come and my appointment is no where in the system. The first time was within the Audiology department where I had to travel 45 minutes to my actual appointment - to get there and be told that the order for my test was in the system, but no actual appointment. The second time was thankfully a virtual visit with Neurology which again "there was no record of." I am someone who documents all appointments both written down and a reminder in my phone. When I called the Neurology department to ask why the doctor did not call me at my scheduled time, I was told that the appointment was not in the system AND the phone number listed for me was inactive so no one could reach me. I have had multiple virtual appointments with Neurology since March of 2020 - the office has called me numerous times to confirm appointments and the doctor has called me each time for each past appointment I've had. The admin proceeded to ask for my email address which I know 100% has been given because I have received emails from BIDMC before and signed up through the patientsite. I have never had so many issues with one hospital entity when it comes to scheduled appointments. Though my actual Neurologist is great, I will no longer be scheduling appointments here and will have my health care handled elsewhere.
I have been extremely satisfied with Beth Israel Deaconess’ Orthopedic Dept. Nicole Desrosiers is fabulous! She is extremely kind, patient and knowledgeable! I never feel rushed , no matter how many questions I have! I would recommend her and the facility without hesitation. Having broken both my ankles, simultaneously, I was very concerned and nervous about what to expect. She has been so helpful during my healing journey.
Very poor experience with VBAC. Epidural somehow wore out. Very poor handling in labor room. C section was needed and incision reopened without straining. No urgency in calling the patient back. Taken care by nurses in training and a resident. Give it one star because the staff in the post partum ward was very good. Otherwise would have given none.
I HAVE THE BEST CARE TREATMENT DURING LABOR THROUGH GIVING BIRTH HERE I WANT TO THANK ALL THE DOCTOR WHO ASSIT ME IN LABOR AND DELIVERY ROOM 10th FLOOR, AND ALSO THE NURSE CLARA AND KATHERINE THEY ARE SO NICE AND MAKE SURE U HAVE WANT U NEED AND WANT, THE Y MAKE YOU SO COMFY AND TREAT YOU LIKE A PERSON NOT JUST A PATIENT . AND ALSO I WANNA THANK ALL THE NURSES ON THE 6TH FLOOR IN THE POSTPARTUM UNIT.MY NURSING TEAM ATTENDED TO ALL MY NEEDS AND THEN SOME THEY MADE ME FEEL COMFORTABLE AS WELL AS GIVING ME MANY COACHING TIPS AND HOW TO CARE FOR MY NEW BORN. SARAH,KATHERINE,MONICA TO NAME A FEW. I KNOW THEY'RE ARE OTHER FACILITIES RATED HIGHER THAN THE BI BUT IF I WERE TO HAVE ANOTHER CHILD I WOUNDL'T HESITATE TO RETURN TO THE BI AGAIN.
AVOID DR. MATTHEW COTTON AT ALL COST. WASTE OF TIME MEETING WITH THIS GUY.
This place is horrible!! I would not recommend giving birth here. My sister was in labor and they took so long to check her in and get her a room. They also took long getting her blood work done so she could get an epidural. The staff is rude and act like they don’t have time to answer questions. This hospital treats you like a number instead of a patient. ???????? ????????????????????????
Dr. Arun Ramappa is a superb surgeon as well as a compassionate human being. Hard combination to find these days. He sets the tone in his office with all his clinical and administrative staff who I found to be highly professional and respectful of my individual needs.
If we had a question or problem, BIDMC has had an answer. BIDMC has never failed in providing my family the care we need!
They help me a lot I’ve got great news so far my colon is getting better and healing god is good
The operations of this business is absolutely terrible. It is the epitome of the problem with the American Health care system. I was recently at One Medical where I could easily schedule appointments, talk to someone for tests and help and felt wonderfully taken care of. At BIDMC I am concerned for my health and frustrated by the constant circles this organization has patients go through. Every single time I have scheduled an appointment they do not provide any kind of electronic follow up with an address. They have so many locations and it’s almost impossible to get through to anyone via phone. They don’t send reminders out either if you scheduled less then 2 weeks in advance which is a problem of it’s own. If you have multiple appointments or are new to the area.. good luck. You will quickly learn this system does not care about you. They required me to have blood work every two weeks because of a new and apparently dangerous medication.. yet they give you 0 information on how to schedule that. I am on week 4 without an appointment. Every call and message leads to nowhere. Every-time I call I am transferred to someone else who transfers me to someone else. Often the system is set up so you can not achieve anything without jumping through major hoops. You can not easily get routine tests and all of the different parts of BIDMC are not connected. If I want to do blood work at Chesnut Hill 25 Boylston st there is no easy way to get ahold of anyone and every single person I speak to claims it’s out of their hands, to call over there, or that they are too busy to book it and to just go online.. but this is not a location that can be booked online. They have this thing called PatientSite where your suppose to be able to communicate with your doctor. I receive emails back that “my doctor doesn’t use that”. When you try to call the doctor after a holiday the phone line will give you an auto message that lines are too busy and hang up. If your busy, good luck. The phone lines are open 8:30-5 only and often they have the auto setting up still right at 8:30 so you can’t get ahold of anyone. It is literally the worst run system I have ever experienced. I’m disappointed, disheartened and completely understand how we end up leaving so many people behind. I can not imagine If you don’t have a phone or the Internet ... good luck getting any kind of help here. Oh your a busy professional? Too bad you just got an appointment reminder with no address and each location has 2/3 addresses. The doctors have been nice but I would ask them if they read this to push against the organization and advocate for a better system. It is horrible for patients. It’s almost impossible to get a simple bloodwork done without spending at least 1 hour trying to navigate the structure of this organization.
Dr. DeAngelis was a phenomenal doctor when I had an issue with my knee. He was kind, knowledgeable and patient, and explained things in a way that they were easily understood without missing details. I highly recommend him.
The Dr's there are the Best in the U.S. After 2 surgeries for the same issue at a different hospital, the Dr's here fixed her. The confidence and experience the team had goes unmatched. The only issue I have with this place is the parking. They have a paid parking garage attached to the building and it's not cheap. You can get validated, if you are a patient, visiting a patient or have an appt, but you need to be there for at least 2 hrs to validate. And they don't offer this info, you need to ask. If you are going there for multiple days make sure you all about the parking pass. A 5 day pass is $35, which parts for itself in 2 days if your staying for the day. And a ten day pass for $70. Again they will not offer either of these, you need to ask. Without these passes you could pay $18 a day (w validation) or $38 a day (without validation). And the parking garage doesn't have much clearance, I'm 6'2" and I feel like I need to duck walking to and from the car. DON'T BRING A TALL TRUCK OR YOU'LL BE PARKING A MILE OR TWO AWAY. I would definitely give them more stars if the parking situation was better.
Wonderful. No complaints. Over the years, each doctor that I see seems to be better than the last one, if that were possible.
Once upon a time it was the best of the best. Last 10/12 years the quality has gone down and down. It's a shame. Patient site is basically useless. The last stunt was the fact I received a response nearly a month and half after my initial question!!! Referral faxes are not send on time. I have switched a physician due to the fact she was basically nonchalant about me as her patient. Try to get things resolved at the president's level, no response. So yes I have a major issue with this hospital and I I would certainly end it with them soon. It's a shame because some of the physicians are wonderful and I have been with them for over 20 years. But the details need to be taken care of.
Dr David Trentham saved my life. I have/had diffuse scleroderma. With the medication he used and his beliefs in what can help a patient, I was tested negative after 3 years of his therapy. God Bless this man. Instead of ignoring his treatments, the staff in the Rheumatology/Lupus depart need to learn from him. From what I understand, he retired back in 2010, shortly after I 'recovered", but he always listened to me and genuinely cared about my recovery. Today, 11 yrs later, my SCL-70 tests still read negative. Thank you Dr. David Trentham and God Bless you!!
My mon has an appointment at 9am today with the neurosurgeon doctor, but we have been waiting for 30mins more on the phone, still no doctor calls in. The doctor is on vacation now? If she is not available, why they called twice to confirm it before the day? What kind of the professional ethics does she have?
BIDMC traumatized me. Almost 5 months ago, I was sent to their ER, and I still get flashbacks almost every day and worry that something will happen to me again and that I won’t get answers to the problem. In January, I was about to move into my dorm in Boston. Before I got inside, I was unconscious on the sidewalk for a few minutes. Slowly regained consciousness in the ambulance, then became fully awake once I was inside the ER. 1st thing they told me was that I had a seizure - all because it was what some random person on the street told them and my father, who was there a minute or less after I fell. I was only laying unconscious, and there was no proof that I seized. My friends and family were just as confused as I was. I have no history of seizures/any disorders that cause seizures. I was put on seizure medication that day, which is typically only prescribed after recurring seizures. I was even told I might not need it, but to take it anyway. The ER nurses were very kind and made me feel a little less scared - I do appreciate that. However, they also kept me there until the evening even though they said they would discharge me earlier. After leaving, I spoke to my doctor and therapist from back home. They thought it seemed more like a fainting spell, which the doctors at BIDMC kept insisting wasn’t the case. My doctors from home still think it’s strange that BIDMC immediately concluded that I had a seizure and put me on meds that quickly. After ONE neurology visit and NO tests done yet besides a CT scan at the ER that came out normal, they put a diagnosis in my portal which said that I had “Generalized idiopathic epilepsy”, which I knew was not true. This frightened me. I had no idea what these doctors were talking about. Speaking of tests, I needed to get MRI and EEG tests done just to confirm that there were no abnormalities or seizure focuses in my brain. It took WEEKS to get these scheduled. I was only able to schedule them after I called multiple times (and was transferred to many different people during that process) and left voicemails. After my tests, I did not get results until almost a month later for both tests. It also took a long time for me to get myself registered on Patient Site after requesting registration. My results said that there was no evidence of epilepsy, but I still had no real diagnosis of anything, leaving me confused and uncertain about what to do next. My neurologist even said there is still a small chance of me having a seizure, although most likely I won’t. Keep in mind that they didn’t even know if I really seized in the first place! Even after stating this information, he was unclear on whether or not I should keep taking my meds, so to this day, I take them even though I probably don’t need them. I’m now seeing doctors from home for other opinions. Speaking of other doctors, I called last week asking to transfer my records from this hospital to my new hospital at home, but no one got back to me. I’m not surprised. I know you guys take forever. Thankfully, I’ve had no more events since the one time in January, However, because BIDMC insisted that I seized without any proof, I cannot drive for the next couple months, I was scared to swim again, and for a while, even being alone or sleeping alone made me anxious in case something happened. I was just so uncertain of everything. I even had a nightmare that triggered flashbacks to the event and the terrible service that I was put through. For a while, I couldn’t even wear the outfit or mask I wore during the event. I even worry when I feel a slight difference in my body, even if it’s simple things like fatigue. Now, when I have anxiety attacks, I immediately feel like something is about to happen again. I hope I’m not overreacting, but as a 19 y/o living in a new place for the 1st time + dealing w/ poor medical treatment mostly by herself, this was something I never want to experience again. Hopefully, I’ll no longer be a BIDMC patient when I return to Boston this fall. Have a nice day.
I happened to be recommended to BIDMC by a doctor who comes here (ACK) every so often for patient visits. Dr Horst, after I told him about my issues/experience with MGH, that I was looking to have my gallbladder removed elsewhere. Dr Doug Horst recommended BIDMC & Dr Critchlow. After going thru the whole process of pre appointments, esophageal stent changes, etc.. I was pleased by Dr Critchlow & the effort he put in to make sure that the gallbladder was out & the area was clean. In the future, if I need a shoulder fix, knee fix, etc I think I’ll be taking myself to Beth Israel for my medical needs.
Terrible experience. I wasn't able to get a firm date for my surgery (which is more a problem of the Spine Center than the hospital at large), but the billing system is more than enough to warrant an awful review. Not only is there no centralized place to see what money you owe, but they use somewhere around 3 or more separate billing portals, some of which require you to type in your own information and don't give you feedback as to whether the payment was applied successfully as you can't see any "balance" on your account. I'm still receiving paper bills for services rendered in June (it's now September). Also, the process for signing up for PatientSite (their patient portal) was awful. I'm fairly certain someone is manually creating the accounts, as I had to wait 5 business days for my account to be created - and it didn't happen automatically, I had to call because it took longer than those 5 days. Absolutely abysmal IT situation. Went to MGH instead, and had none of these problems.
Good medical staff (so far) and a nice facility.
Dr Davis and his team provided stellar care. He was compassionate, listened to all of my concerns and reassured me. He then got me in for surgery less than one week later. From the moment I was up and walking, the intense, crippling knee pain I had been living with for 5 years was gone. Within 2 weeks I was up and walking more than a mile per day, unassisted. Before surgery, at 54 years old, my life had become the sphere of my one bedroom condo, with all shopping done online and grocery deliveries due to my inability to walk, or sleep without excruciating pain. He gave me my life back, and I am so grateful!! I recommend him to everyone.
Hoping this is my last doctor I have to see about this knee issue. Dr. Hezel seems promising!! Professional and polite!! Thank you in advance Dr. Hezel!!
Nearly $250 for a tele-medicine 'check in' where I was asked if I was feeling ok.. I said 'Yup', and that was it. Isn't the point of leveraging technology in healthcare to help drive costs down? What a joke.
I don't have complaints about the quality of health care they provide. But their billing department keeps on harassing me by sending me bills in mail to pay that I have already paid. When I provided receipt of payment they said they will look into it, but a month has gone and I have not heard back about the status. All I get are mail still asking me to pay my bills, which I repeat, have already been paid. Also, did I say that this is not the first time this has happened? Last time I paid the same bill twice without realizing. At least they sent me the refund for the previous incident months after. So they have integrity, I give you that. Just not competence.
I was there in '88. It was one of the finest run hospitals I've ever seen. As the son of a doctor, and traveled the world, seen and worked in many hospitals, my impression was top notch. Totally professional. Excellent.
Dr. Hezel was great as always. He has great skill. His treatment for my tennis elbow was perfection as well as for both of my trigger fingers. Highly recommend!
Beware: their billing department treats people absolutely atrociously; they charged an absurd amount for setting foot inside their offices so they could order a test (which took about thirty seconds, and was separate from the cost of the test itself, which I also had to pay for), refused to explain why the cost was so high, gave me the run-around vis-a-vis different phone numbers to call, but for some reason nobody can explain anything. It took me nearly a month to get my test results, and I didn't even get an explanation of the test results until I called back, on my own, to ask how to interpret them. They promised to get back to me with an explanation for the costs, and I heard nothing; but I sure did get a lot of bill sent to me! (to the wrong address, of course, so by the time they got re-routed to me, they all arrived past due). Buyer beware; if your GP suggests you get something done here, push back, and if you are forced to go here, demand to know the full cost upfront.
Thank you to all of the nurses and drs in the covid ICU. You saved my dads life. Truly thank you with everything in my heart and soul.<3
These people don't answer the phone and when they do the hang up. Make sure you have your coffee it's an all day affair.
Dr. Hezel is a rock star when it comes to sports medicine. He can diagnose the most difficult problems and provide new and innovative solutions. He's my go-to doctor for all sports related injuries.
My Primary Care Physician wasn't paying attention to my medications and I ended up having a Major Stroke which could have caused me my life!
There is not Doctor, there is angels. So happy for the way the tried me. Honesly the best services. Love it.
One of the best hospital in boston. The doctors are super excellent and all the nurses are very expert, helping and very caring
Extremely disappointing: I waited for hours in the parking lot after calling to tell them I was there. They forgot about me. I called them to talk about it and the manager said she would call me back at a specific time. I waited, and she never did. On TWO occasions. The desk staff and management are unprofessional, but the doctor I had was very good. It is a shame the medical center is so disorganized. They also rescheduled my COVID test because of some snow, in the winter, in New England... DO NOT GO HERE.
Excellent medical staff
We had our baby here and it was the most amazing experience. I was scared to death and the nurses and doctors were totally supportive and kind. I wouldn't want to give birth anywhere else.
My surgeon is Dr Jacob Drew. He replaced both hips in 3 months time. I feel like a new person. I recommend Beth Israel & their Doctor's, nurses, staff post surgeons, pre-op medical team, icu and all his team. I could go on forever but you'll just have to see orthopedics yourself.
I would like to begin by saying that I deeply regret not heeding the warnings posted all over Google to stay away from this hospital! Mostly my decision to give birth here was due to the great care I received from my MFM and ObGyn doctors (who are sadly affiliated with BIDMC), but I also decided to trust the rare reviews in favor of the hospital and I paid dearly for it. In fairness, I did meet some great doctors and nurses along the way. The surgical team was amazing. However, the bad experiences far outweighed the good, making my stay there unbearable. It simply wasn’t worth it. I’ve had surgery and/or medical care at Tufts, Brigham & Women’s, and Mass General Hospital in Boston. When comparing experiences, I would say that you are more likely to receive much better care at any one of those facilities over what you will experience at BIDMC. In fact, there simply is no comparison. Without a doubt BIDMC did NOT provide the level of care one would expect from medical professionals. Very basic humane treatment and compassion for its patients eludes them. It simply isn’t the culture there. They made that overwhelmingly clear. It saddens me to even say so, considering I met some rare gems along the way. From kitchen staff, to nurses, to doctors, you are likely to experience rude and unprofessional behavior. The common thread that you will read throughout these negative posts is that they don’t listen to their patients, they don’t have patience, they rush through procedures, don’t have time to explain or check in, are indifferent, lack compassion, and are even combative. The amount of emotional duress I endured during my time there exacerbated the physical trauma and made the pain far less manageable. I went as far as requesting an early discharge so that I could escape the madness. The words best used to describe some of the interactions I had with doctors, nurses and other personnel is “Grotesque” and “Exceedingly Unprofessional.” I was literally shocked by the experience. In summary, don’t waste your time! There are plenty of other good choices for hospitals in Boston; great choices in fact. Force BIDMC to re-evaluate its procedures and the professionalism of its staff. If you can’t be patient, attentive, compassionate and professional in a medical facility then you simply don’t belong there. Send that message loud and clear. Patients depend on it.
well run, efficient, good service and most pleasant experience!
My Husband has unfortunately been At Beth Israel for seven weeks. He has been Appropriately moved to different floors for different reasons and I cannot say how wonderful the staff is throughout this entire hospital on every single floor from nurses to social workers the doctors to everyone. This is the best hospital in my mind in the world
Dr Fisher was concerned about his patient, me. He’s warm and welcoming. I felt a good trust. He soon narrowed down to what medical condition I have. I give Dr Fisher an A+. I liked him. He was gentle and honest. If something is going on and please see him in Chestunt Hill or downtown. ????????❤️
World class hospital. 3rd world elevators.
I had taken a serious fall landing on my back. EMT's from my home town took me directly to BIDMC in Boston so I could receive the best care. Granted I was not the only one waiting to be admitted, but I was not going to die waiting. Once admitted I was placed in intesive care where nurse Kate/Cate was totally in charge and I was in good hands.
Doctor preformed medical procedures I didn't consent to which ended up costing $1500. Made me a get a blood test and that cost $800 and never sent or explained the results to me. Took 6 months to actually process my complaint although to be fair they did waive the amount I owed. There are way too many other good hospitals in Boston to waste your time or money at this one. I'm genuinely traumatized by my experience here.
I always get a wonderful service and friendly staff.. very good hospital..
I recently had a visit for my knee arthritis with Dr. Robert Davis and staff at BIDMC. I cannot give enough praise for how I was treated from check in to check out! The radiologist that took my x-rays using state of the art equipment; Dr. Davis and his assistant were kind and respectful, I never felt that he was in a hurry to get to another patient, as in other hospitals. All my questions were answered, and I was treated and given a treatment plan. Very happy with Dr. Davis and staff, and my visit to BIDMC Orthopedic Department.
I had a whipple surgery At Beth Isreal Boston . I was in FLA and was advised by a Dr to have it done by a Dr who has done at least 100. We drove to Boston to see Dr Callery and his team. When we called him to make the appointment he said I will see you tomorrow we had said we were in FLA and will drive. He was amazing when we got there. I had the surgery and the staff was amazing very caring Gail Benedetti a nurse was like a member of our family. I was there 23 days should have been 8 days but I’m not a good healer they will not let you go until your ready. I love Beth Isreal they saved my life.
Friendly employees at the gift shop and friendly nurses too and excellent customer service
If I could give negative stars I will! Being a Director in another Boston hospital, the level of care my husband received last night was completely unacceptable. My husband tested positive for covid 2 weeks ago. Friday he went to BWH because he was weak, feverish and could not even stand. He was there for 3hrs and felt much better when I picked him up. They gave him fluids for dehydration amongst other things and he was pleased with the care he received. His experience at Beth Isreal was the complete opposite! On Saturday my husband started feeling bad again so he went in for more xrays and blood work. Upon the results we were sent to BI CT scan for blood clots and told us they are expecting us. I dropped my husband off at the ED for the CT scan at 6pm (which he did not get until 1:30am). I brought a charger for his phone and left it with the woman at the ED entrance who said she would give it to him. Twenty minutes later he still did not have it so I called to see where it was. One of the staff members said "I see a charger just laying here at the nurses station, maybe this is it". Come to find out it was but if I did not call it would have not gotten to him. After getting a frustrated text, I called and was transferred to Brittany (his nurse). I let her know he needs fluids and his mouth is dry. She tells me "I just went in and gave him a cup of water and a sandwich"...say what now? Moving on, my guy told me they eventually gave him an IV with fluids, but the fluids never left the bag so of course I called back. I was told "he's fine, I just checked on him" but the fluids in the bag still did not budge according to him. Fast forward I spoke to him around 10pm and he told me "I have a patch that has fallen off my chest and been of for a while and no one has even checked it". He also said "I asked for a blanket and the nurse came in and threw it at my feet". At this point I'm absolutely livid. I called back to speak to someone but the line kept ringing. At about 12:30am I literally lost it and called back and told the individual I want to speak with someone other than Brittany. I got a woman on the phone whom I believe was Sarah. She proceeded to tell me that they were taking good care of him and constantly checking on him. I questioned how was that and his chest piece had fallen off. I also questioned why he was not given fluids and she told me "we gave him fluids at 11:30pm". He's been there since 6pm and you give him fluids at 11?? Remember my guy said they set it up prior but the fluids never left the bag. If they were checking on him they would have noticed that! I asked her why has it been 6hrs and he has not had a scan yet. She told me that they go in list order but sometimes people get bumped for priority cases. So you mean to tell me possible blood clots on lungs is not a priority? What makes the other persons case more important than his....his insurance? I understand strokes, heart attacks and cases like that but in 7 hours you could not get him a scan?? The woman then told me how she's been in the ED for 10yrs and that is just how it is. Pardon me, your tenure does not make you a humanitarian, it makes you employed. I spoke to my guy about a half hour after my call with this lady and he told me they came in and gave him IV fluids and he felt better. About 20 minutes after that he was taken for his CT scan. At about 4am he was discharged with an oximeter. When we got home he had every single vital patch still on him (I have pictures). They did not even have the decency to take the over 8 patches off of the man. He told me he never wants to go back to that hospital again because he felt like more of a burden than a patient. He asaid he felt like they literally threw him out of the ED which explains why I had to finish their job when he got home. I did tell Sarah that I was filing a complaint and she offered me the number to patient relations. I am not going to report a hospital to a hospital! I have no interest in talking to patient relations, I will escalate elsewhere!
I highly do not recommend this hospital. Go anywhere else if you can.
The ERCP Department lost my mother's dental bridge. The nurses verified that it did not return with her from the procedure. I've called the hospital 4 times and also emailed them with NO RESPONSE. I want them to pay for a new bridge.
I was very disappointed with the care my son received there. Doctors did not return my calls and said they would check in with me daily. His social worker who I trusted completely turned out to be as disconnected and careless as could be. She hugged me and told me that she would be the support that he needed however over the course of 5 weeks she never returned his call. When my son died not one of his doctors or his social worker called me. I was not able to visit him because of Covid. He was very ill and he needed to eat, yet several nights he went without dinner and no one cared. They insisted on several needless “tests”. I have dealt with other Boston Hospitals and have been so thankful for the care that I have received as well as having my family members receive care. The culture at MGH, the Baptist, Brigham and Women’s far exceeds that of BID. I have nothing but disdain for BID. My memories are filled with such regret for trusting them that it keeps me awake most nights. Years ago my daughter went to BI because she was in school next door. That was about 25 years ago. I was not impressed with the culture then and I believe it’s the same. It’s terrible to be at the mercy of others when your loved one is in desperate need of good care. I would nit trust the staff at BID to care for my cat. Just one more thing. The hospital rooms were filthy!! Sometimes the same trash would be on the floor for day’s. My son was in 4 different rooms and I thought they were all dirty. And no one cared. There was no privacy or respect for the patient. The caregivers had no appreciation for the patients privacy. There were many conversations I did not want to hear (the dr telling the patients family that there was nothing more they could do when my son was critically ill expecting to be told the same prognosis) and there were several conversations that were inappropriate for my sons roommate and company to hear. BID certainly strips it’s patients of all of their dignity. With so many regrets M Schuler
Do not waste you time with Beth Israel, as there are much better hospitals in Boston. Their Health Connector looks and acts like it was developed by a high schooler in 1997. That is if your tests are even posted, then you have to call around for five days looking for the results. The doctors, nurses and administrators seemed to have forgotten the reason they are there - for the patient. They act like you're inconveniencing them by asking for care. You can do much better in Boston.
Here in the ER now. The attending patient Care tech that is supposed to be supervising the psychiatric patients is far too busy listening to music and watching videos with her earphones plugged in! Her job is to be alert and I find it incredibly disappointing. Her job is to supervise the patients. She's unable to hear their questions. We stepped in a few times helping a few patients... We don't work here... Again it's the psychiatric section and these patients need 100% attention! It's incredibly unprofessional to be in the hospital in a psychiatric section getting paid for a job that they don't take seriously! Earbuds should NOT be allowed when on the floor working!!!!
Orthopodic nurse practitioner Julie Ruane has always over several years treated me in ways that reduce my discomfort and increase my function, but also with an attitude that I am a respected individual rather than just a diagnosis. Her competent and personable, friendly care are wonderful!
Very good experience had confidence with their decissions.
I have been going here since I was 18. I am now 64. I find it very difficult to say enough great things about this fine medical institution in the limited space here! I am glad I found it at 18 and I have never looked back. Here you will find a very caring and dedicated staff. It is my first choice of all hospitals in the Boston area (and we have very many!).
Today was my first visit to BIDMC. I’m humbled and awed by everything I saw there today. I don’t have severe medical problems but I was surprised by how much time each doctor spent with me and how quickly further appointments and tests were scheduled. The doctors seemed detail-oriented, inquisitive, methodical, and absorbed in the task. Admins were articulate and easy to contact both by phone and email. They had the answers and provided me with directions and instructions. Everything went exactly as they said it would. Thank you to everyone for your talent and years of service. I’m grateful to have access to your care. John Platt, May 10, 2021
This hospital does not value its employees which directly effects patient care. Quick expansion compromised patient care and safety. Not only would I not recommend getting care here I certainly would not recommend working here. Favoritism, competition, poor training and lack of psychosocial support are just a few problems plaguing this once great medical center.
Dr. Ramappa and his team are fantastic. He fixed my right knee. The experience has been world-class from start to finish. He is a kind, talented and caring professional.
I recently had 3rd surgery with Beth Israel Orthopedics. They are the best. The care I received was excelent all 3 visits. I would recommend B. I. to everyone. I felt safe, and very well cared for.
The group of nurses, doctors, and all the staff in the ICU are the best. Can't say enough about how easy they made it for during this difficult time to be able to speak to all to get updates whenever I called as well to arrange us to be able to face time with our father. They kept us to date with any changes in fathers condition and always open to answer any questions we had.
This hospital was one of the best hospital in patients treatment and customer service and quality service, However recently all my friends and my families are getting inhospitable and I'll treatment, negligence. It is just a big block with no service. Not recommended hospital. Better to go small hospitals.
My wife saw doctor Jason Pittman over the phone in March 2020 about her back pain issues. Doctor Jason pittman address it as 'herniated disc' and even after letting him know that we have been applying ice and hot packs for 2+ years, he suggests to do the same and thats all appointment ended. NO USE SEEING HIM well we booked another appointment with him where we can see him in person this time and it was on September 21 2020. As soon as my wife saw him, he says nothing at all about the herniated disc at all. NOT EVEN A SINGLE WORD, but asks her to get medical weight loss help. And admits to get her referral, leaves the room to get that, comes back saying he can't find it and says his nurse will contact my wife with referral. No one gets back for a week and we called doctors nurse and she says that refferal should be coming from primary care. Then what was all the drama he was putting on when we went in for appointment?? Again NO USE OF SEEING HIM THIS TIME ASWELL. WASTE OF TIME DOCTOR DR JASON PITTMAN.
Vladimir. Kaplinsky is a vicious phone scamming doctor using elderly patients who he hopes to intimidate to run phone scams for extra money he should be removed
I have had excellent care for a variety of medical problems. I have found the staff to be extremely nice and caring.
So different than our first time, when medical care was topnotch, everyone you dealt with felt like part of the team trying to help you through a difficult time and make it as painless as possible. Everyone doing their jobs. Grateful to them always for what they did 17 years ago for my husband.
Dr. Katy Grannatt maybe the best doctor I've ever had to see. Very smart and trustworthy. Highly reccomend.
this hospital does NOT care about it’s patients!! they let the emergency call button ring for over a half hour and when they get in the room they tell you they can’t help you with anything. they let you sit in agonizing pain and just do not care. i want to know what medical school these idiots went to...
I have been going to this hospital for a number of years, for various reasons. All my doctors are associated with this hospital and I will not go anywhere else. Very pleased with the doctors but the hospital needs to improve their billing services. The billing department staff were pleasant and tried to help, but not always to my satisfaction.
Great staff throughout, very helpful and courteous, amazingly clean and orderly for how busy they are at times
Few months back: GI and Primary Care: Staff are getting more lazy, neglecting patient, and not helpful. I would give zero rating if it is available. As an belong to minority community, we are always neglected, this is discrimination and negligence to my health.
I have had the best primary care doctor for over 20 years. Dr. Li Zhou also have my mammogram and seen other doctors there very happy.
Had shoulder surgery at BIDMC Shapiro Center on 7/24/2020. IT IS SUCH A PLEASURE TO BE IN AN INSTITUTION WHERE EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING! The preop was great thanks to nurse Judy. Nurse Bernadette kept my wife informed and Nurse Rebekah in the PACU put me together really well. The level of pre- intra- and post op teaching was great. The nurse anasthetist was thorough and personable. The Surgeon, Dr. Zilberfarb was informative and highly skilled as well. All in all a wonderful experience. From a greatful patient
I broke my ankle on March 21 and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess. I underwent surgery, and stayed in the hospital 3 nights. The staff is the best I have encountered. They were kind, skilled and very patient
I was very pleased and impressed with my first appointment with Dr. Jacob Drew. He was very thorough--discussing options, risks, and answering all the questions that I had at the time. He had been highly recommended by my primary care physician and I recommend him as well. There was also a meeting a few minutes earlier with Dr. Bernstein, who is Dr. Drew's colleague. Both were very knowledgeable and personable.
Excelent!! The staff, Doctors and Nurses are very friendly and really care about the patient. I would like to thank especially NP Maria Hedberg in the health care associates suites for being such an amazing person.
Puja Shankar sucks
Recently had an appointment with Dr. Grannatt at BIDMC Needham; all expectations met. Appointment on time and exam was done in a timely and most pleasant manor. As with all of the physicians and staff I have had interactions, Dr. Grannatt was very pleasant, and had complete understanding of my issue. We decided on a course of action for which I will have virtually no wait. BIDMC in Needham is a pleasure, very relaxed, and easy to access. I much prefer going there to the hospital and clinics in Boston.
Dr.Trey, examine our mother 2 years ago. He's the most wonderful doctor I've ever met ,excellent bedside matters, outstanding communication toward senior citizen and family. You had a calling at a young age you answered it, you continue to share it with all of us, God bless. Thank you doctor.
I went to Beth Israel at 2:30am due to excruciatingly pain from Shingles. The doctor I saw was resident Dr. Kevin He. He inquired about pain med I had taken which was Tylenol, but was not working for the pain. This pain started at left side also under rib and now radiated to to the back. I was in excruciating pain, he then told me a nurse will bring in Tylenol, I stated it had not worked for me earlier I needed something stronger. The nurse comes in with Tylenol ( is anyone listening) I refused to take it and felt I had not come to ER to take Tyenol. Unempathetic Dr.He states he will have to ask attending doctor for a different med. In comes Dr. Larry Nathanson who understood Shingles and the nerve pain it can cause. He ordered small dose of Oxycodone to which I felt a sense of pain relief. Thank you BI for having a seasoned attending doctor, Dr. Nathanson who showed compassion and empathy. Also the nurse Corey W. was a very nice considerate nurse but was limitited to what he could do. Unfortunately I will NEVER go back to BI emergency room should the need arisre.
Disgusting! Saw a few nurses and techs reusing gloves on multiple patients. Same with disposable gowns they go into multiple isolation rooms with the same gown and gloves. Disgusting! Avoid this hospital!
This place is worst, they come and tell me one thing and the next day another thing. As a patient do I have the right to leave un my responsibility.. I am taking medication here I can do the same at home.. and when they the results they need, they could call me.
Alexandra Seifollahi, MSN,FNP-BC, Orthopedics is very friendly and made me feel comfortable. She took her time to explain in detail the MRI and meniscus tear. We agreed on conservative treatment modalities. I’m pleased with the visit and highly recommend her. She is terrific! Alexandra was going on vacation and I was in severed pain and needed an injection. She referred me to Dr Hayes. What a terrific doctor. Kind, gentle and explained the injection. I was afraid the injection would hurt but I didn't feel a thing. Thank you Alexandra Seifollahi and Dr Hayes. I couldn't ask for a better team to treat me. Again - Thank you
I came in for a biopsy of a growth on my arm, the technicians were very professional and maintained a positive outlookk for me.
I am not happy with their services at all. They rush you with decisions that are life and death. If you opt out of surgery they want you out and move on to the next person. Never ever go there again. Doctors are cold and not empathetic. Earful place
Our first grandchild was born here. Very good service, except I feel they should have kept our son and daughter-in-law instead of returning them home. They had to come right back for delivery. The staff is very caring and professional though. Always checking in and attentive.
Better to go to another hospital. No treatment by doctors and nurses. Ignoring and negligence are seen in this hospital. Customer service is very poor. Value of patient ignored.
The purpose of my first call to this hospital was to make an appointment for my husband. I began the process at about 10:30 AM and by 12 noon, we finally had a time and date. I have NEVER been through such a confusing, convoluted process to make an appointment...anywhere!!. I kept getting "connected" from one department to another, constantly listening to "Press 1, press 2", etc. VERY frustrating!! How complicated does this have to be?? At least an hour and a half just to get an appointment!?! Some of the people were nice. However, one staff person in the neurology department...Doreen...clearly gave the impression she could not be bothered. She sounded as if she was on a speaker phone (a far-away, "echo-y" sound), so it was difficult to understand a lot of what she was saying. I told her I was having trouble hearing her say a fax number, so she yelled out the number. She announced a date and time, so I asked her if that was the appointment we would be taking. She said, sarcastically, "Well, that's why I am saying it". She didn't ask if that would be OK. I also asked her about parking availability. Her clipped answer was simply, "Binney Street"...no other helpful information. She showed absolutely no concern, patience or kindness, but she does have a "talent" for making callers feel inept and like a nuisance. Partly because of her, I canceled the appointment. She should make people feel comfortable and reassured, especially when someone is calling for the very first time. There was none of that. She is a poor representative of your hospital.
I went to Dr. Joseph D'Angelis for upper arm pain. I couldn't have been more pleased with the visit. Dr. D'Angelis is a gem - highly knowledgeable, experienced, caring, and personable. His staff also makes the visit easy and comfortable. My husband was referred to Dr. D'Angelis several years ago by his PCP for upper arm and shoulder pain. The great care my husband received at that time was the motivation for my going to Dr. D'Angelis when my upper arm began to hurt recently. My husband and I both feel so lucky to have run into this fabulous doctor, and we highly recommend him without reservation to anyone who is in need of this type of care.
When I arrived naturally I went to the wrong entrance. I met a young lady sitting out side and asked her where the Doctor's office was she went out of her way and guided me the the correct office. Every one I had interaction with was so very kind.
Judgemental RN's criticize you as new parents. Go anywhere else!
BIDMC claims they put their patients care first, but it is January 25, almost a year after the pandemic started and they still are not vaccinating Phase I patients. Where is their world class administration and community responsibility. Everyone knew that a vaccine was coming in December. Lol...the almighty dollar comes first. Really? Got my COVID vaccine in a small allergy clinic in Shrewsbury today.
I have no idea why they charged the facility fee so high. More than $1000 per visit. Unbelievable!!!! I just stay in the hospital for 30min!!! I have a good insurance but the facility charges is not reasonable for the patient and the insurance company.
This is specific to the obgyn department at BIDMC regarding communication concerns and scheduling. In 2 months after my maternal care is complete, I will be transferring my care to another hospital who provides better care and support for their patients. Basically during the entire duration of my pregnancy I've had issues with the staff in terms of communication. Due to covid, in-person visits are limited (understandably) but because of covid, I feel the staff should put more effort or some effort to communicating with their patients. when you call the clinic, you do not have direct access to the obgyn unit, it goes to some call centre that is not specific to your needs and can easily be lost. I should have realized the red flags at the beginning when I left messages on some of the concerns I had with this being my first pregnancy on patient portal website and no one got back to me...even after the 4th time requesting a response. On top of that, Ive had multiple issues with the nurse in charge scheduling random appointments (these mostly are in-person that I frequently stumbled upon online to realize that I even had an appointment coming up) without informing the patient. There was no voicemail, no call, no text, not even in person. I've addressed it to the obgyn who took note for the nurse in charge and yet this is the 3rd time it is happening. Another incident I had was an in-person appointment booked at 1:30pm with my OB. I was not aware that I needed to come in 1 HOUR in advance for my glucose testing. I would have assumed to come in ON TIME at 1:30pm had not called the clinic myself to inquire about the glucose testing that normally occurs during this week. Again, I coincidentally found out by taking initiative to call the hospital myself because no one had called me. I question why I am not notified that I have a glucose testing coming up nor told to come in the clinic earlier than scheduled. I will coincidentally go online my patient portal website to realize that there is a new appointment coming up in less than a week..? No communication what so ever. My obgyn suggested that when a nurse calls for a followup to my in-person appointments that I ask if there are further appointments. The past two times I voiced my concern and asked her directly. She told me there was one online appointment this month and that was it. No surprise that a week later I suddenly have random appointments set up that does not work with my schedule! I clicked to reschedule or cancel and the next day it is cancelled. Two weeks go by, and no one follows up whether I need to reschedule for a new appointment or what the appointment is about. I contact patient relations who informs me that they will contact the obgyn manager. No surprise. A week goes by and not a single call or message. I contact patient relations for a follow up who informs me that they will re-contact the manager. No surprise. Two more weeks go by. At this point its been a whole month and I am ready to give up with this hospital. It seems its not just my nurse that has communication issues. BE AWARE AND DO THE RESEARCH OF THE COMMUNICATION ISSUES GOING ON WITH THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU DECIDE TO CHOOSE TO GO WITH THEIR CARE. This has been my personal experience because no one should experience this much frustration during their first pregnancy. P.s The only reason I will finish my pregnancy care with this hospital next two months is because my obgyn is good. I have no issues with her.
This hospital is fabulous. My mom had her aorta valve replaced and staff were extremely accommodating; asking if she needed a blanket, was she comfortable, etc. When she stayed two nights afterwards, the nurses and doctors on the floor were wonderful; answered all her questions. Doctors adjusted her medications and she feels so much better since surgery. I'd highly recommend this hospital especially if you have a heart condition. Thank you BI Boston.
If I could give 0 star I would. If you're a patient and don't speak english... good luck! My grandfather didn't eat for days, nurses did not check in on him, did not make sure he got anything to eat or drink. He felt lonely there no one to care for him besides the doctor. We called everyday to make sure he was getting the care he needed but the excuses we got from the nurse team was that "they forgot" or "the kitchen isn't responding" unbelievable! This is a HOSPITAL!
I am looking for a Hospital that will provide good care and best of the best in technology and staff, we shop for most large ticket items so I felt why not for my care, only wanting the best. I had planned to have my Angioplasty done here but after reading so many negative reviews compared to BWH and MG I thought even though I liked the DR it was time to move on and not go with BIDMC. I think what really shy me away was the respone to the bad 1 to 2 star reviews... just a pay cut and paste reply from BIDMC to contact response line just seemed they could offer better response , like calling unhappy patients, shouldn't be that many right...
I go for a regular annual checkup with an in-network physician at this in-network hospital and I am now getting charged several hundred dollars...for an annual physical. I mentioned having some minor pains during the annual physical and they try to do a diagnosis but come up with nothing but a referral to see a specialist. No procedures were done. Yet I’m expected to pay nearly $1000 for a physical. And that’s with good health insurance. Someone tell me something isn’t wrong here. Beware of the facility charges. On the bright side, the hospital looks nice and the staff are amazing. Haven’t had one bad interaction. Great nurses. EDIT: I had additional appointments scheduled that I cancelled due to my experience above. They just called to remind me of my upcoming appointments that I had ALREADY CANCELLED. Now I’m narrowly avoiding no-show charges for appointments I already cancelled in advance. Taking off another star for this.
very difficult to get through to people over the phone and unhelpful staff over the phone.
My visit with Dr. Grannett was nothing short of amazing. From the front desk service, the technicians and Dr. Grannett herself, I felt like I was in good hands. They took the time to understand my situation and concerns! The staff has been very responsive to any call with questions.
I would not recommend anyone giving birth in this hospital. The level of unprofessionalism, compassion and care is worse than what you can expect to receive in a 3rd world country. The majority of the staff from the Dr’s to the kitchen personnel are condescending, rude, argumentative and have no respect for patients and their rights. I stronghly urged that every department screen their staff more closely and provide intensive training on being RESPECTFUL, compassionate and more human when dealing with people in their care!!
I will always be grateful to Dr. Scott A. Shainker, and all the nurses here. I gave birth on 8 August 2018. My doctor was Scott A. Shainker. Words seem inadequate to express my gratitude for what he has done for me. He was the most awesome, most friendly, most humble, most smiling, most sympathetic, and a very talented doctor. I am so lucky to have been his patient. Thank you so much to him, his awesome team, all the awesome and very special NURSES and NICU. I would like to thank BIDMC Hospital for its excellent service. Best regards.
I had a very positive experience at BIMDC after dislocating my shoulder playing hockey. The initial emergency room care was good. I was referred to Dr. Katy Grannatt for follow up. She diagnosed a complete rotator cuff tear and performed restorative surgery. She was excellent. She has great communication skills, both listening and explaining, she also has a very reassuring positive energy. She is obviously an expert in her field. My surgery went very well and I am well on the way to recovery. I would recommend without hesitation.
A wonderful Hospital with the brightest and up and coming doctors! I have never had a issue from the parking people to the Doctors. Everyone is always like...........can we help you.
I had the chance to work at BIDMC and I look forward to work there again.
This hospital is usually very efficient and has very friendly staff. Well something different happened on 4/11/21. They sent me for an X-ray but forgot to explain the risks and have me sign a consent form. As a result I spent about 40 minutes waiting to get the X-ray sitting in an open area while they transported Covid 19 patients back and forth for X-ray imaging. This increases my risk of exposure. I asked to go back to my room after becoming nervous with coughing patients and I thought it was weird none of the nurse saw an issue with this. Upon returning back to my room, they still can’t find my doctor to have me sign the consent form to ultimately get the imaging done. More waiting. It took over 1.5 hours to find a doctor again 40 minutes I sat openly increasing my risk of Covid exposure. Okay finally I get the imagining and they’ve found an issue. They tell me to rest but now it’s been 5 hours with no IV no water no food and I’m expecting. I asked for water and they say no because of more pending tests. Fast forward to the 8 hour mark of no water no food no IV I’m drained and start advocating for myself. They did try to remedy by bringing me a menu and water but again this was torture to have to get to that point. Only for me to tell the nurse my order and for me to over hear her guessing what I told her on the phone to the kitchen. No concern for my possibly allergies just straight up guessing on my order. Not even concerned that she might order me something I won’t eat after already being deprived for 8 hours. Just no regard at all. Come on BIDMC. This visit was different.
The two Physicians I meet yesterday, the resident, and Dr DeAngelis, were extraordinary in their personal care and attention. They were reassuring, in that they evidenced great competence and knowledge, but most importantly for me, they were kind, compassionate and wonderfully human and easy to be with. I could not have been more pleased with my visit.
Dr. Aimee Boegle and staff are always kind, compassionate, helpful and extremely knowledgeable in all areas. Highly recommend Beth Israel!!
I was directed to Dr. Benjamin James for surgery. At the consult he told me I would have a significant scar and offered me a scarless surgery, he made the surgery sound like it was the better option. After surgery I found out he was dishonest about the number of surgeries he did and patient satisfaction. I also noticed after surgery I had a warped lip which later found out is nerve damage. I was told I have facial nerve damage by several doctors and the damage is to both sides of my face. One side of my face and neck is more lax due to muscle weakness from damaged nerves that support the platysma muscle. When I smile one corner of my mouth goes up higher than the other. One side of my mouth moves different when I speak because of nerve damage to one of the incision sites behind my bottom lip. The surgery caused scar tissue, edema and nerve damage affecting the appearance of my mouth, chin and neck and one side of my face is slightly lower but not slight to me. For almost two years I kept reaching out to him over what I seeing and feeling. He kept brushing my neurological symptoms off and could not see what I was seeing. I have suffered tremondously as a result of his botched surgery which caused trauma, I was diagnosed with ptsd. He used manipulation at my consult to get me to do a surgery he was not good at. I was also told he lied to me that I would have a significant scar. All he cared about was to perform this surgery on me so he could get practice and work his way up in his career while he took a risk with my health, my appearance and my life. I would not give him one star in this review and I would not be surprised if he has lied to and harmed others.
I was treated for a serious and extremely painful condition (not covid) over the past year and spent many weeks flat on my back in bed. I was tremendously impressed by the doctors (I am one myself) and the efficiency of the running of the hospital. But I must make mention of just how wonderful the nurses at Beth Israel are I found them to be extremely competant and professional but far beyond that they showed me a compassion and basic human kindness that was as important as the surgery and antibiotics that saved my life. I don't want to sound corny but I came to believe, as I lay there in agony, that Beth Israel must recruit it's nursing staff in Heaven. The world is very fortunate that there are people so willing to give to others. Thank God for nurses!!!
I enjoyed my stay at this hospital I needed a shunt revision very good hospital the nurses were awesome everything was great even the doctor that did the surgery was awesome thanks for the awesome work and care you guys did a great job Taking care of me even my nurses were awesome thanks guys!
I had left knee replacement surgery, by Dr. Ayesha Abdeen my surgeon. Follow-up was managed by Joshua Medeiros, Physician's Assistant, who was also present during the surgery. I have received excellent care.
Great radiology technician and super orthopedic service for NP Julie Ruane who gave me my first cortisone shot in my right knee. Very thorough snd well explained. Super service at BIDMC Lexington.
Horrible! They don't care about elderly people. My mom went to the Hospital because she had pain near to her feeding tube area(stomach), they didn't do anything and she end up falling for the stretcher.
Emergency room service is subpar. My brother had a stroke at home, went to ER at Milton, they told him he had a stroke but did not admit him and sent him home same day. He went to another Emergency Room that immediately admitted him and heat him for 4 days.
Dr. Pittman is an "up front" doctor, is personable and makes you feel like you've know him for years. The kind of doctor you can trust. Every other staff I was involved with were great. My experience in the Dedham office was more like a good time than an appointment.
Amazing Labor And Delivery department! Our son was born here just a few days ago. Postpartum was great as well. Shout out to the kitchen!
My 95 year old frail mother with dementia was admitted to the emergency room after a fall around 7pm. She was discharged at 4:30 am without her shoes, and with an IV in her arm, to her assisted living facility. When her facility alerted me to the fact that she had an IV in, I called BI and was told i had to bring her back to the hospital so that the IV could be removed. I drove her back to the hospital to get the IV removed. On her previous trip to the Emergency room at BI, they lost her hearing aid. I was told to go and buy her a new one, pay for it, and submit the bill to BI for reimbursement. I got lots of assurances that these matters would be looked into. When I asked about reimbursement for her shoes, I was told that they would "discuss it." After several calls, after several weeks, I was told that reimbursement was approved but I must provide a receipt and submit it. The upshot? If you are taking someone to the ER, take ALL of their valuables and hard to replace items home with you-because the likelihood of their being lost is high, and it is time consuming trying to get reimbursement.
I met Dr Sammy for the first time and was extremely impressed. He was compassionate and caring and explained everything so I could understand the situation. He was more concerned about me instead of rushing on to the next patient. Literally a “Diamond in the Rough”…..
I went to a doctor's appointment and got a butternut donut after the appointment. The service was fine but the area where you get the cream and sugar was just a mess!! Coffee spilled creamed spilled sugar granules everywhere. Having a clean area is also part of great customer service as well. I need up cleaning the area with napkins that were provided. It was an easy fix and the person on duty should have been on top of this. Especially when you're serving food.
Dr. Davis is highly skilled doctor. He is an excellent diagnostician and a perceptive communicator who listens well and reviews your chart before seeing you. I requested to see him when my knee acted up again - I had seen him a few times 10-15 years ago and his diagnoses and advice was always spot on. The experience this week with Dr. Davis was just as excellent, he is very gifted. He is also an extremely nice person who seems completely comfortable in his work, not burdened by it.
My mother Marcia’s care was outstanding, they took care of a bleeding ulcer, and her before and after care was great. Thank you all for such wonderful caring jobs you do . The Souris Family , Norwood, Ma.
I was so impressed with my surgeon, doctors and everyone else who treated me during my stay here last week! Everyone treated me well and my recovery was top concern from everyone on staff. Thanks to everyone who treated and assisted me because I really appreciated it!
The absolute worst! They killed my father.. after getting a phone call directly from my dad saying” they were killing him.”(The staff would not give him the phone after that.)This was at the beginning of Covid so we were not allowed to go in to see my father while he was alive but once he passed they let us go in to see my dads lifeless body. Covid didn’t seem to matter then So in my opinion this is the worst of the worst.. I could say so much more but is it really worth it? I hope everyone that goes to this hospital keeps an eye on doctors , nurses, aides , and especially the overnight orderly’s… I just told you the Incident where my father passed not a couple of times prior going to that hospital. Please be aware!
I saw Alex Seifollahi in orthopedics because my knee was inflamed and very painful. She looked at the xray, told me my options, and immediately set about to cure me. In the space of one hour I changed from a person in a pain fog, to one who could walk out and face the day. I would recommend her to anyone
When a loved one was flown to Beth Israel Level 1 trauma center after an accidental fall, we were afraid we would not be able to see her due to Covid restrictions. However, the doctors and nurses there showed extraordinary compassion toward our family. We were invited to come in and visit with Mom to be with her until she passed. We will always be profoundly grateful for the care and compassion the Beth Israel staff showed us. A special thanks to Dr Montealegre and nurse Melissa for their particular sensitivity. Thank you so much for the work you do.
I would recommend Dr Grannatt to anyone. She did an awesome job rebuilding my rotator cuff and bicep tears. No swelling nor pain. She is a good listener, and takes plenty of time to explain injury, operation, and recovery. Besides, she is super nice. She did a great job. Was also very happy with the kind treatment that I received from the nursing staff at the time of my surgery. Everyone was very nice and the nurse taking care of me was exceptionally compassionate.
Great medical and professional help
I was happy with the primary care provider I saw, however this hospital system fails to manage patient care. They do not get prior authorizations correct with insurance, resulting in incorrect billing and higher charges for you and are slow with referrals. I would not recommend using this hospital for any services.
I highly do not recommend this place for any service the workers in this place are extremely rude and unprofessional, I had made an appointment for my mother for a consultation through the phone. Day of her appointment they called her an hour late from her scheduled time and the call did not go through so we called back and they said she would get a call in the next 15 mins( they never did). Next day I called back to ask why they haven't called her and they said they would call her today. The doctor who called her was extremely rude, she told my mother they could not provide service to her because she has limited health insurance and once she gets better insurance she should call back, Even though she would be paying for her treatment out of pocket. Then the doctor when on saying how my mother could not affored there services?!! My mother has a heart problem and by the end of the call she was completely distraught and was baffled by the lack of professionalism and manners from the doctor who spoke to her and also she felt she was treated with disrespect simply because she does not speak English fluently.
My mother had to undergo three emergency brain surgeries. We usually have morbid experiences at medical centers and hospitals so I made sure she was sent into Boston. She was assigned to Dr. Vega’s team and I couldn’t be anymore thankful. We didn’t know for awhile how the future looked. Her surgeon himself, Dr. Vega made sure WE KNEW that he was going to remain involved. He followed up with her personally on numerous occasions and really put me at ease through this entire process. He saved her life and I am forever grateful. Both himself and his team are all wonderful. We had really good experiences with the individuals who work on the neuro floors, both ICU intermediate and intensive, as well as floor 11. Thank you all so much for everything that you do. You are appreciated!!!! You deserve everything good out of this world!!
