I met Dr. Perhez Jaffer from Heights Laser Centre in the spring 2013. I do a weekly TV talk show, and as we all know, being on camera we like to look beautiful. Dr. Jaffer's "extended arm", the office manager, Bonnie Allen was the first I started to communicate with. She promptly responded to every email that included my concern or just a simple question. I am pretty picky about what I need to make me happy and I don't hide it. When I met Dr. Jaffer, I was captivated by his willingness to express his professional opinion versus "my needs", and also he dedicated all the time that was needed. I learnt a lot about the history of Botox from him and that was a bonus. He was very gentle to fix my ideas how Botox works:) And talking about him being gentle....you will never feel the needle entering your skin! That will remain a mystery to me. I wasn't the only one using Dr. Jaffer's experience as a specialist in non-surgical facial rejuvenation. My executive producer Rick, was injected with Botox by the above-mention doctor - right on the set - on camera and that brought a lot of interest from our viewers, who thought, that women mainly use this treatment. Rick was a first-time-Botox user and shocked when the beautiful result was about to appear..... Rick's face was 85% smoother; Dr. Jaffer used only as much of the treatment as it was necessary; he still looked natural and wouldn't remind you of a wax figurine. Dr. Jaffer was the first doctor that I gave full power and trust to by performing Botox on me. Seeing him for touch ups or just discussing other possible choices of the treatment was telling me, that this is a doctor who lives and loves his passion. I will always recommend Dr. Perhez Jaffer and I have no doubt I will be seeing him again. None of the specialists injecting Botox I have met, haven't - in my opinion - reached his level of professionalism. If you can imagine the feeling - walking on the street and you feel you own it - that's where I was in those months after Doctor Jaffer's gentle touch. APPENDIX: As I am repeatedly taking treatment from Dr. Jaffer, I feel like adding something new and fresh; I moved to Vancouver Island and commuting via ferry has not been my favorite activity. However, there is one place I would not trade for any other on the Island and that is Heights Laser Centre. I never even looked for the treatment I take regularly in my area. Booking wasn't easy, since my schedule changes over night, but the professional team of Dr. Jaffer's was a huge help as usually. The staff is very accommodating. I would not want to lose the chance to step into this friendly environment, where everybody is there for you.

I want to share my story about my experience with Dr Jaffer in hopes that my warning prevents this every happening to anyone else. Let me preface by saying before seeing Dr Jaffer I was 100% healthy, fit and never had a problem with headaches in my life. One year ago I went to see Dr Jaffer for Botox injections for a little refresh to my face after 2 kids at 39 years old. I had botox done previously 5 years ago on 6 separate occasions from a dermatologist downtown and loved the results. I went to see Dr Jaffer as we had now moved to Burnaby and the Heights Laser center is just down the road from our house. When Dr Jaffer was administering the botox, a couple of the injections were extremely painful( they should not be painful) but didn’t think much of it and paid my bill and left. The next morning I woke up with severe flu like symptoms ( nausea, fatigue, headaches) and a deep new wrinkle which formed vertically above my left eyebrow. I was in 24/7 pain and no over the counter med would help. The wrinkle above my left eye continued to get deeper and I also developed spock eye above my left eyebrow as well as 5 other wrinkles on my face that did not exist before my injections with Dr Jaffer. I discovered in a follow up visit with Dr Jaffer that he had injected 64 units of Botox into my face and he wanted me to come back and get even more to my forehead!! I took this information to the dermatologist that I had seen for my botox five years ago ( he has 25 years experience) and he said he would have given me max forty units. He also confirmed to me that botox injections shouldn’t hurt in the places I had them done. I also called Allergan ( makers of Botox) and they told me 64 units for cosmetic botox injections was excessive for a 39 year old. After speaking with him, my friends who are my same age who get botox and from hours and hours researching, they are all getting around 30-40 units of botox max. Even 50 and 60 year olds I have spoken to are getting a max of 50 units for cosmetic botox!!!!! I had no major wrinkles, only a few fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes before seeing Dr Jaffer. I trusted him to inject the appropriate amount correctly into my face, there was absolutely no need for such an extreme amount!!! Despite a headache listed on the Botox label Black box warning, initially Dr Jaffer had no idea what was happening to me. He said perhaps I was experiencing a headache because of my hormones changing from giving birth (which he later denied saying to my face) and that I was frowning in my sleep which was causing the new wrinkles. He kept telling me the symptoms would eventually go away. It wasn’t until we pushed Dr Jaffer for further research and a visit to a Neurologist that we came to realize headaches are a side effect of botox in 8% of patients!!! I have also come to learn that these new wrinkles that are on my face are due to muscle recruitment. Because I was so severely overdosed, this caused other muscles to over compensate for the paralyzed ones which have created these new lines on my face. I filed a complaint to the College of Physicians and Surgeons and Dr Jaffer’s response back was full of inaccurate facts& LIES that I had to write a supplemental letter back to the College outlining all of the discrepancies. ONE year later I still have the headaches. Thankfully the meds I am on prescribed from my neurologist help minimize the pain but I am not recovered yet. Although I have seen some slight improvement, the new wrinkles have still not gone away!!! My first advice is this: ask yourself if you really need to do botox, I thought it was safe but after all the research I’ve done, there are a lot of side effects and you need to understand the risk. Second, if you decide to go ahead with any cosmetic procedure, my suggestion is go and see an experienced registered Dermatologist or Cosmetic surgeon and not a family doctor who opened a medi spa on the side for extra bucks. Shame on you Dr Jaffer!!

I was not pleased with my consultation at all. I was interested a mini lip plump and instead was told I had other things wrong with me. Talk about a turn off. He told me my cheeks had dropped and they need plumping and if I wanted to get rid of the smile lines that would be another injection. He talked himself right out of a sale and I will never go back. I did however, find the office to be clean and the staff to be friendly, but trying to upsell was a huge turn off. In the end I went to a doctor downtown that scoffed at the comment about my cheeks dropping and gave me the excellent mini lip injection that I originally wanted without trying to upsell me on anything else. That’s how you earn loyal and repeat clientele.

I get botox and fillers done regularly and I’m always very satisfied with the results. Dr. Jaffer is truly an expert at injections; he has an eye for detail and believes in a more subtle approach so the results are natural and you never have to worry about looking "overly done". Unlike other injection specialist I have gone to, I have never experienced any bruising after having injections done by Dr Jaffer. . I live on the westside of Vancouver and have gone to reputable injection specialist in my area, but have never been as happy with my results as I am with Dr Jaffer. The drive across town to Burnaby is definitely worth it.

As a guy I am concerned about my skin and my looks as much as any woman. I may not be as perfect with my routine as many women, but I look after my skin. Dr. Jaffer's clinic and all the ladies that work there are the best and I'm never left to feel out of place. I am always greeted with warm, friendliness and always end up chatting and enjoying my time there. The clinic also knows that men's skin care needs are different and they all take time and explain what I need that my wife might not or vice versa. Dr Jaffer is an amazing doctor. I came here to get lip injections and I have been to two different places before coming here. Out of all three places this has been my ultimate favourite and most welcoming place. Dr Jaffer went over all of the warnings and side effects or rare things that could happen before doing the procedure. He also went over how we would be doing my lips and did them exactly how I wanted them! When I left he gave me an ice pack to go for my lips which none of the other places have done and that helped my swelling go down a lot! He also booked a follow up appointment so that he could make sure I was completely happy. I am extremely happy with the outcome of my lips and will most definitely be going back for all my future treatments! He cares about his patients and is very knowledgeable. The staff here are all super friendly and knowledgeable! The receptionist is super sweet and welcoming! Love making small talk with her! I had my consultation with Lorea and I just went in for my first laser hair removal session with Anna and it went great! I totally recommend if you’re like me and is finally fed up with shaving! P.s. I would recommend getting the Elma cream if you have low pain tolerance! It’s a bit on the pricy side but is totally worth it because you hardly feel a thing after applying!
