The stitches were removed a week later and after two months the incision mark is not even noticeable. I was worried that a scar would be visible and hesitated for a while. 10 days after procedure, the scar is very small and healing. She gave me good expectations and did not push to remove it. I had a flesh colored mole removed from between my eyebrows so smack in the middle of my face and was very nervous about it leaving a large incision scar. Dr. Power walked me through the whole process and was very knowledgeable, made me feel right at ease. It's been 2 weeks since i got the mole removed and it is healing very well and the incision site is almost invisible. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my face except for Dr.Power she is VERY SKILLED AND PRECISE i would 100% recommend her if you are looking for a cosmetic surgeon. I recently had a lump removed from my right arm. Needless to say, I was extremely anxious knowing that I would only have a local anesthetic. From the moment I was greeted by Dr. Power that morning she put me at ease and talked me through (relieved my tension) the procedure which lasted about one hour. MEDCAN referred me to Dr. Power for Carpal Tunnel surgery.It has been six weeks since the surgery and unfortunately the carpal tunnel symptoms are still persisting. The wound healed nicely and the scar is practically undetectable. However, the symptoms of carpal tunnel are unchanged. Since then I consulted an expert orthopedic surgeon and a couple of neurosurgeons who confirmed to me that Dr. Power failed to release the tunnel therefore did not treat the problem I went to see her for. The surgery failed.

Horrible experience..Doctor is not knowledgeable at all.. Could not identify a simple obvious issue of fibroma. She speaks at terrific speed and showed no interest to patient issues. Receptionist is not professional at all and tries to sound otherwise. Also what intrigued me is the obvious discomfort of the doctor in having a second person in the room along with patient. It appears as if she did not want a witness in case things went wrong. Space is big enough and that is really not an issue other than the doctors discomfort. Plush office..all in all it appears that this doctor only can cater to people that pay from their pockets but not through OHIP.

Wonderful, caring professional. Unlike a previous surgeon who removed a carcinoma from my chest and barely acknowledged me during the procedure and basically left a much bigger scar than it ought to have been, Dr. Power explained everything to me and drew the cut lines to show me how big the incision would be. She was very patient and addressed all my concerns, and she spoke to me during the procedure which was comforting. This time the carcinoma was on my face so was VERY nervous how it would look. It turned out far better than I expected and I may return to her to see if she can fix my ugly scar left by the previous incompetent surgeon. Also, she did not try to sell me any "scar creams" like the previous surgeon did ($120!) which did absolutely nothing. She said nope, just Vaseline for a few days! She could so take advantage of vulnerable patients in this respect but she chooses not to. Fine, fine doctor and human being :)

RE: 12 stitches are not to be sneezed at. Yes, it took 12 stitches to close the incision required to enable the removal of the cancerous growth on my neck. So Dr Power had her work cut out for her. She remained, cool, calm and collected. Asked me if I had any children and seemed to know the floodgates of my mouth would open. I proceeded to give her thumbnail sketches of my 2 daughters and had barely started to describe my son when she announced the procedure was over, the incision now closed by the 12 stitches. I enjoy watching people perform at what they are good at be it pitcher Sandy Koufax, dancer Fred Astaire, or Dr Stephanie Power, the Jascha Heifetz of the scalpel. Dr Power's personality is reflected in both her office and staff. The office is serene overlooking a park. The decor is comfortable and stylish, not lavish but understated. The hardworking staff sole goal is to ensure the well being of the patients. Two weeks after the removal of the stitches, I visited my barber who trims my beard and he could not even detect where the scar was. If you feel that I have gone overboard in my description and the doctor can not deserve such high praise you are wrong, and she can and does.

One star is way too much, but had to click for my comments to post! Most disappointing and unpleasant experience! I was referred for a toe nail biopsy. Dr. Power walked in, without examining my toe, sternly decreed that the whole toe must be removed. I tried to ask if a less aggressive procedure was possible since the pigmentation affected a small area ( a line on the edge, less than 1mm wide ). She would neither listen nor explain. So, I asked if I may take a few moments to think this over? Again, she refused, sternly and with lack of the slightest compassion, stating she had patients waiting! Though I was an "out-of-pocket- paying patient" (long story). Thus, I left and they had the audacity to charge me $210.00 for those aggravating 5 minutes they considered a "consultation!" Happy to say that a decent plastic surgeon in Toronto performed my biopsy with his suggestion of removing ONLY that tiny affected area!

It's easy to be apprehensive when a chunk of skin and flesh is to be removed even when it's to prevent a cancer from spreading. But not to worry when Dr Power is doing the removing. She explained what she would do and why, injected a local anaesthetic, made an incision and sutured it quickly with no pain at all. She explained what I should and should not do during the next few days and her staff gave me the same instructions in written form. When I returned ten days later, Dr Power removed the stitches, again without pain, told me how to take care of the incision and sent me on my way saying I should call her if I encountered any problems, which I didn't. If you’re having an OHIP covered procedure; expect to be treated like genuine feces. Not only is Dr. Power rude and dismissive, she gives post op instructions and then denies saying them within the same minute. Her bedside manner is nonexistent- she talks over you, she’s terse, she gives serious biopsy results while storming through the door- the list goes on. I’ve never seen this level of disrespect and disregard from a doctor before, but I guess because I wasn’t getting my body “rejuvenated”, I was just an inconvenience to her time. On top of all that, good luck trying to get through to her receptionists when you call. All the options (7+) either lead to the computer hanging up on you, or lead to a voicemail that doesn’t accept messages. No idea how she’s seen as this amazing surgeon - last time I checked, she took an oath, and elective surgery or not, we should all be treated the same.

My Daughter and myself were both, recently patients of Dr. Stephanie...we both ..coincidentally were having scar reconstructive surgeries...my daughters left from an accident to her face from a fall a few years ago..and mine...from pre-cancer removal by a Dermatologist. I was first in awe at the office...simply gorgeous...I still can't get over...I felt like a rich movie star....and was given the movie star treatment...at no cost to me (as mine was covered by O.H.I.P...then the Receptionist...a couple of the friendliest, hard working, totally receptive and kinds receptionist (that must be what the word was to mean ..receptive..and they are)!...Then ..Dr. Stephanie..that was the biggest surprise....young, friendly & kind...which made me think ..this is kinda weird...she was gently welcoming and I followed her in to her office...She explained everything in a calm, patient voice, and started...before I knew it...she was done....Just got the stitches removed today....and my remarks to her will tell it all...your name should be "Helen Keller"..you'r e a Miracle Worker!.......Thanks again Dr. Stephanie and your staff.......I told them I'm going to use an alias when I leave in case the Paparazzi's were outside...that's the Star Treatment I got from a Plastic Surgeon u only read about in the Hollywood Mags....and here me..covered under Ohip..got the best!....I love Canada!
