Extremely impressed. I was referred here for a knee injury which couldn't be fixed through physiotherapy. Eventually with surgery I had my cartilage trimmed and ACL reconstruction and, nearly four months on, it feels remarkable. The service I received on multiple visits here (including a day-long stay for surgery) was among the best I've ever received. Staff were friendly, approachable, efficient and professional. Can't rate highly enough.

The aftercare I received following my knee operation was absolutely appalling, I was informed to "check on the internet" because the surgeon neglected to inform me of the what he had actually done to my knee and whether I was to use crutches or not. I left the hospital with no stick or crutches, holding onto my friend's arm and the wall, in tears and pain, in order to leave the hospital. Except for the receptionist no-one came to my assistance! Having said that, once I was actually seen by a physio therapist, the care, imparting of knowledge and management of my progress has been outstanding.

I'm due to have a scan on Monday but my visit previously with Mr Stanley was good he explained my options sadly the equipment I need was removed so offered to go to Scarborough on probably 6 occasions to have treatment there not on NHS would have to pay £250 plus travel so going for second option treatment through Nuffield no charge to myself covered by NHS I was disappointed I couldn't get the best option for my medical needs but unable to do the travelling and cost to and from Scarborough several times as unwell myself and a full time carer for my adult son.

I have contacted Nuffield regarding private testing, I was given wrong information by the adviser and was told I will be contacted by the Nuffield Hospital staff shortly, which never happened. When I called the number given, I was told the treatment I enquired about is not offered by Nuffield at all. .

Yes staff is very nice when you get there but that and the MRI scan was my only pleasent experience . Everything is very slow there . NHS provides better service in my opinion . communication is difficult . No one would give a straight answer ,when calling they just redirect you to a different department .I felt like talking to my gas supplier . i just needed my test results . yes you are ok no you are not .... They really like to make things complicated Wrong appointment text reminders . I was late obviously because of that . I was told by the consulatant I've got 3 minutes because I was late ...seriously ?! Diagnostic before test results ? I really don't understand that. I am not an antibiotics person unless is the only way . 2 months with them and still no proper diagnostic and I am still in pain 2 stars as they always speak nice and they apologised for the text reminder ( don't know if that really matters that much )

Had keyhole surgery on my right knee a couple of months ago and have just come back and had full knee replacement on my left knee today. The experience on both occasions could not have been better! All the staff have been extremely courteous, caring and friendly without exception! And the food is gorgeous! Can not recommend highly enough!

Appointment at 6pm no waiting around, environment spotlessly clean, both staff were professional, kind and caring. Both tried to make the experience as best as possible, l knew exactly what was going to happen, it is a noisy procedure but you are given earplugs, headphones with music if you so wish. Thank you to both staff.

Not impressed so far tried calling them up for an appointment at 7.30 am in the morning when they state they open and answer phone message says all lines are busy, half an hour later after continuous phone calls still no reply. .. Outpatient appointments supervisor unfriendly and unhelpful and certainly not prepared to go the extra mile for her patients! Too bound up by regulations....

I am writing to express my gratitude for the excellent care that I have received at York Nuffield Hospital. I was referred to the hospital by the foot clinic in York and feel very lucky to have been looked after by Mr James Stanley, who operated on my feet with two separate surgeries. Mr Stanley has guided me through the surgeries with kindness and respect, and I immediately felt that I was in safe hands. Mr Stanley explained all aspects of my care in detail and this helped me to stay calm on the days of my operations. I found all hospital staff to be very professional and caring, I was given excellent advice from the physiotherapists and the nurse at my pre op appointments, taken great care of by the nurses during my stay at the hospital and afterwards in out patients when I had my dressings changed. I have recommended Mr James Stanley and York Nuffield hospital to my family, friends and colleagues who have asked about my experience. The surgeries are life changing for me, my feet were painful and I have spent the last ten years not taking my shoes off in public due to embarrassment. I am now confident enough to go swimming and take exercise classes, which in turn will help me to lead a healthy life style.

Wife was kept in overnight unexpectedly so I wanted to go an see her. I checked the Nuffield web-site and it said visitors welcome but check individual hospital site. Nothing on York regarding visitors at all. So I rang and after 15 minutes on hold I thought I'd drive the 9 miles to the hospital but keep the call open in case visitors weren't allowed. Call disconnected from their end en route so rang back. Reached hospital after 30 mins still no answer but notice saying for patients and visitors to enter car registration at reception. Nobody at reception, no phone, no buzzer or notice saying what to do if not manned. I waited for 10 minutes - nothing. Eventually I tried to find somebody. A sign said visitors report to ward reception, so I did that. Nobody there. No buzzer, no notice. So I waited ...and waited. After about 5 to 10 minutes a nurse came and said visitors weren't allowed. This isn't a comment on the medical care but their security and administration is shocking. From web-site to switchboard to staffing it's shambolic. I can't respond to the reply below but I can amend this post. Does the response have any thing to do with my post? No it' s also 4 years or of date. Reflective of their admin I'm afraid.

I have had two Hip replacements done by a brilliant consultant surgeon, one in May this year and the other one was last Saturday. I would like to thank all the staff for a comfortable stay. I had a bit of banter with the anesastiis, the nurses, the carers the cleaners, the receptionist. the physios, the chemist the cooks, everyone. Thank you all. The Consultant Surgeon came in to see if everything was going well on Sunday after the Saturday opps. Happy Christmas to all that staff at Nuffield.Haxby York.

Had one really bad experience at this hospital, with an unfriendly consultant who wasn't very helpful. However my next visit was a lot better, friendly receptionist a and very kind and chatty nurses as last time to help make me feel comfortable; my consultant the 2nd time was a lot better and friendlier with a much better bedside manner and a much more detailed consultation

I cannot rate this hospital highly enough. The cardiologists I've seen have been absolutely amazing. Dr Gupta is one of the nicest, kindest, best doctors I have ever met and he spends so much time really helping you and understanding what the problem is. He is a remarkable person. Dr Hayes also recently arranged a stress test for me and was very kind and accommodating with me, arranging for me to have the test then come straight over to Nuffield with the results so we could go over them before he went on leave as he knew I was suffering from severe anxiety. I very much appreciated his help and both doctors have been fab at arranging test for me when needed. I recently requested copies of my medical records from Nuffield and the lady that dealt with it was incredibly efficient and helpful but I can't remember her name :( Whenever I come to clinic, the lady upstairs on reception always greets me with a friendly smile which is appreciated as I'm sometimes very stressed when I come in. All the nurses are friendly and approachable. It is a lovely atmosphere in the hospital so it doesn't really feel like a hospital. Follow up letters to my gp has always been quick and I don't believe I've ever had to wait even a week for an appintment. I would strongly recommend to have cardiology services here, they have helped me immensely over the last few years.
