REVIEWS OF Ascend Physiotherapy IN West Vancouver

Heather Seshadri

Jessi has been my physiotherapist for many years and counting. She has helped me with body awareness, pain management and recovery (both MVA and surgical) Her caring nature and big smile always makes me feel welcome and supported during my ups and downs. Clinical pilates and IMS make a wonderful combination for healing and maintenance. I am so grateful for Jessi's practical and wholistic approach. I have never been better!

Jessi is an outstanding physical therapist and all-around wonderful person. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and have therefore seen multiple physios over the years, but none of them have taught me more about how to manage my condition and care for my body than Jessi has. She is warm, enthusiastic, darn good at her job, and invested in the wellbeing of her clients. I actively look forward to our appointments and drive all of the way from East Van to see her. I cannot recommend Jessi highly enough to anyone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or joint hypermobility and/or who is seeking a trans-competent physical therapist.

I have seen Jessi for years and she was the person that kept me going when I had to drive 3 hours a day for work for three years and my hip was seizing up badly. She has also regularly treated my chronic neck and shoulder pain with IMS as well as helping realign my hips and leg. I can't say enough good things about her. She is highly skilled and one of the most friendly people you will ever meet. I always recommend her to anyone i know that is seeking physiotherapy in Vancouver.

I was referred to Jessi through a friend, and have been seeing her for years ever since. She has seen me through my worst physically, and helped me get to my very best physically. When I was at my worst (herniated disc, sciatica, constant pelvis misalignment, knee pain, ankle pain, you name it), she was always supportive and positive when I would get discouraged….at times it seemed never-ending and that I would never improve (these issues kept cropping up over the years). She would only need one or two appointments to fix acute, chronic issues (pelvis), but what really made me trust her was that she would do a thorough assessment and if she didn’t think she could help me, she was quick to refer me to a colleague/another practitioner who specialized in a different type of treatment if she thought it might do the trick. Usually she could fix my issue, but it made me realize she really cared about my outcome and not about booking repeat appointments. She would patiently work with me over the years, never pushing me to be consistent with appointments when she knew I couldn’t always commit to it financially. There is never any pressure from Jessi to book for the sake getting repeat business…you feel comfortable telling her what you can do financially and can’t, and she totally respects it. When you do come back (and I have, many times, over long absent periods), she will be there with open arms. She is not the physio that has 4 different patients going at once. You are paying for one-on-one time with her and she is working with you for the entire appointment. In the last few years I came to realize that I had to be consistent for my own sake or I would continue the cycle of her having to fix me when I broke from my desk-job/sedentary lifestyle. Since making that commitment, Jessi has been instrumental in getting me to the best physical shape I have been in all my life. I rarely have those same chronic issues, because she has worked hard getting me to slowly but surely increase my strength so the right muscles turn on, and the wrong ones stop overcompensating. I have said to many people, she has probably been the most impactful healthcare practitioner for me over the course of my adult life. And if her physiotherapy skills weren’t enough, she has been my biggest cheerleader through bad times (she could have lectured me about my sedentary ways but NEVER did), and through good times. Her positive energy, sense of humour and infectious laugh are the icing on the cake. She is worth every penny. Once I realized my health was worth every penny, I haven’t looked back. I see her once a week to continue the lifelong journey of consistent wellness…and once in a blue moon when a pain issue crops up, she helps me head it off so it’s not a months/years long struggle. Crawl, hobble, limp, walk, or run to Jessi. She can work with any physical stage you are at and truly make a difference. Her fur baby is pretty adorable too ❤️

I have seen both Jessi and Suzanne and they are both exceptional Physiotherapists. They provide a thorough assessment and use a range of effective treatment methods including IMS dry needling. The clinic is beautiful and the staff are friendly and welcoming… especially their furry staff member, Baden.

Jessi is amazing. I have been a regular patient of Jessi since 2014. I was referred to Clinical Pilates by a specialist at GF Stronge for a Chronic Pain condition I had been suffering with for 15 years. I had tried everything and was at my absolute lowest when I went to see her. I am so fortunate that she is the physiotherapist I originally booked for Clinical Pilates. Her positive and caring attitude kept me going back every week. Despite being in constant severe pain I still enjoyed our sessions together each week. And for the first time in my life I started seeing consistent improvement. It was slow but Jessi was thrilled with every good day that turned into a good week that is now good months. Jessi is extremely talented and determined and tailors her treatment to your specific needs. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. IMS and CLINICAL PILATES were instrumental in my recovery and I still see her once a week. I have referred many friends and family to her. Go see her because she will help you!

I have been visiting Jessi Thompson for treatment of a chronic condition for several years, and she has vastly improved my quality of life. Jessi is a very knowledgable and capable physiotherapist, who is also extremely empathetic and supportive. She has a very upbeat personality, and a great sense of humour - which is always a good thing! Jessi is different from many physiotherapists in that she provides one-on-one care. She's not rushing around treating several clients at once - when you have an appointment with her you (and your well-being) are her sole focus. The same can't be said - unfortunately - for most other physiotherapists/clinics. Jessi's new clinic - Ascend Physiotherapy - is bright and airy, and because the physiotherapists only treat one client at a time, the space never feels too busy - an important factor during these (COVID) times. I am extremely satisfied with the treatments and care that Jessi has provided for me, and I'm very happy to give the clinic a 5-star rating. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Jessi and Ascend Physiotherapy to anyone looking for effective and supportive physiotherapy treatment.

Jessi is an integral part of my health care team and I see her regularly for clinical pilates. She helps me maintain my core strength which prevents the chronic back pain that I had experienced in the past. I enjoy her approach of strengthening and stretching using all the Pilates apparatus. She is supportive, encouraging and provides personalized 1:1 attention. I highly recommend Jessi and Ascend Physiotherapy:)

Jessi has been fantastic for helping with rehabilitation after a car accident. She has an excellent ability to adapt exercise to your current abilities and uses IMS to provide relief for muscle pain/tension. She’s is also a wonderful motivator and gives you the encouragement and tough love when needed.

Jessi has been helping me for many years with pain relief for my Scoliosis through Clinical Pilates and IMS. Jessi’s helped me reach goals that I didn’t think were possible given my condition. My flexibility and overall fitness have markedly improved, and we just have so much fun during our sessions. I’ve recommended Jessi to everyone I know, and will continue to do so!
