I am a co op student who worked at housefit, and from what I saw they make such an effort to make sure their client's see results and live healtheir lives. If you want to change your life around and start living the healthy lifstyle this is definitely the place to do it.
In December 2019, I found myself scarily close to 200lbs and decided to do something about it. For Christmas, I decided to gift myself, my sisters and my niece, (all of whom weighed more than I did) to some personal training sessions. Since my sisters are older and have physical limitations, a typical gym membership was not appropriate. Research brought me to HOUSEFIT and we signed up for the initial 6 weeks of training. This was, without question, the best decision we have ever made. We were only two weeks into our training when the first COVID19 lock-down was imposed. Alex (HouseFit’s founder) took the time to draw up a training regiment that we could do on our own and we continued to work out and follow the eating plan right through the lock-down, until we were able to convert to virtual training with our trainer Ali. Needless to say, we saw such success with the program, that it’s now May 2021 and we’re all still following the program. This is a program that has been successful for 6 people of differing sizes (some over 300lbs with many different physical limitations and dietary restrictions) who have tried every single weight loss system out there and failed. Every single one of us has lost between over 60lbs, (one sister has lost 95lbs) and some are still going. This is the best program I’ve ever found and would recommend HOUSEFIT to anyone who is serious about finally being successful in getting healthy. This is just my story, sharing in case it helps others.. could be different experience for others.. So I’ve struggled with weight loss for two decades now.. up and down mostly through crash diets like IF, Bernstein etc etc. Sustainability and accountability were my biggest issues - never felt my body tones, never felt I could keep up over a couple of months max, wasn’t like happy not eating well. House fit has been a game changer for me - have been here since 3.5 months with Rolf who is my trainer. Result so far: weight dropped from 105kgs to 85kgs (45pounds).. I’m half way done and goal is to get down to 70kgs before starting strength training. note: I was 115kgs couple of months before I started Housefit.. so I feel amazing health wise even though I’ve dropped a lot fairly quickly. I think the consistent workout and physical activity is making me stronger. Also it’s so much fun as my wife and I workout together. About Alex: personally for me, he was 100% what I needed in my life!! He is extremely results driven and holds me accountable. He cares about my health and weight loss (sometimes more than me lol). His diet is very strict but if I can manage it, I’m pretty sure many others can (I’m huge foodie!). While it’s not cheap, I think avoiding 200s of ubereats orders offset some of it + it holds me accountable to make health changes (when I’m spending this money!). Lastly, I like that rolf (my trainer) and Alex deeply care about not injuring us, so check regularly if any pain and thank fully have been injury free so far. Thanks Alex, Rolf for enabling a change that means a lot to me.

My husband and I gained quite a bit of weight after getting married. We lacked the motivation to go the gym and our diet was horrible. Finally, after seeing awesome results in one of our friends who trained with Joseph/Alex at Housefit, we decided to go for a consultation. One year later, and for the first time in my life, I have visible muscle mass! I have to say, our trainer, Joseph, is one of the best. He knows when you are capable of more, so he will push you HARD. And, not only does he know how to exercise, he also has the educational background to support his training. As much as we love seeing progress, the biggest takeaway from the past year is learning about all of the different types of exercises to target different muscle groups, so that you can apply them to your own workouts (because sadly, trainers aren't forever). I was successful in losing weight at Housefit. My diet was customized to my tastes and was simple to follow. Prior to attending Housefit, I had exercised for years but failed in weight loss. Not only did I attain my weight reduction goal but I also added muscle and improved my physique. My diet and exercise program worked out just as described in my initial assessment.
Housefit is the one and only reason I went from being the large, jolly man into a lean, sexy, jolly man. The key to successes with Housefit is their knowledge in the science behind fitness. They did not just give me a diet and a work out plan. They took the time to explain why. Why some foods should be avoided. Why some workouts are better than other. Why some people can do some workouts better than others. No random question was too dumb to be talked about. I was educated not just how to reach my goals, but how to keep living one day without needed a personal trainer. I have been going to Housefit for a couple of years now. From the first day meeting with Alex there has been nothing but progress. We sat down and worked out a goal. I told him I wanted to get my body to a clean and healthy state where I can go out, eat what ever I want, and not worry about gaining 10lbs over the holidays. He showed me how to drop the weight (about 90lbs in under 10 months) then rebuilt my body from skin and bones to a body I am proud of.
I started the program on June 28, 2019, weighing 60kg. I paid up front (along with signing a set of physical damage waivers) and signed up for a 6-month routine of diet and gym routine. The 600-calorie no-salt diet did make me quickly lose 8 kgs of water, fat, and muscle in the short term, but it also landed me in a hospital emergency room for hyponatremia (sodium deprivation causing fatigue, headache, and vomiting). The exercise gave me quadriceps enthesopathy (kneecap tendon injury) and patellar tendinopathy (patellar tendon injury) so I wasn't able to walk anymore. I quit the program after 1.5 months and received a refund for the unused gym sessions. Coming out of the program, I've spoken to Consumer Protection Ontario (a government agency). I wish I had known before entering the program: 1) Personal trainers is not a regulated profession in Canada so there are no set rules, diets, or regimes to follow. 2) Alex being a "nutritionist" is a self-proclaimed title. Unlike a "dietitian", a "nutritionist" is not a certified or regulated professional designation. That could explain why he does not understand the life-threatening danger of sodium deprivation that he imposed upon all his clients. 1) The diet The no-salt diet was meant to deplete water retention in the body for accurate daily weight loss tracking. It would last through the entire program (6 months). My blood pressure was low to start with (120/60) and by the time I quit the program in 1.5 months, it had dropped to 89/49. I experienced various levels of discomfort including dizziness (light-headedness) , fatigue (no energy and only wanted to sleep through a whole day), and sudden vomiting during sleeping (this was super dangerous as I could have died from choking myself during sleeping). My family (e.g., my in-law who is a nurse) has expressed concerns from the get-go. I constantly communicated with Alex (gym owner) and my trainer Maryann. I sent them pictures of lower and lower blood pressure reads. The responses were 1) Maryann: thousands of people can graduate from the program so why can't you? You must trust the program. 2) Maryann: you must "stay clean" or I will report you to Alex 3) Alex: the blood pressure meter at Shopper's is not accurate 4) Maryann: your mother-in-law is a nurse, not a doctor so you should not listen to her 5) Maryann: the Pharmacist at Shopper's is not a real doctor. You cannot intake salt until you get a doctor's note and then Alex "may reconsider letting you take salt". My family worried about me so much and my husband was concerned about the cult-like language from the trainer. Eventually, I was not able to move my body and my husband sent me to the emergency room. The doctor told me that everything I was experiencing were symptoms of Hyponatremia (sodium deprivation). He said each person needs 2-4 grams of sodium per day. Hyponatremia can have deadly consequences. I told my trainer Maryann what the doctor said but she suddenly took a U-turn: 1) the diet was Alex's responsibility "it is his diet" 2) she was a nursing program drop-out so she knew about the danger of sodium deficiency 3) she wanted me to "educate Alex" about the importance of sodium so that "he can learn" and won't harm others. That is when I realized that I had had enough of Maryann's hypocrisy. 2) the gym sessions In addition to the diet at home, each of my exercise sessions started with jumping jacks and then were followed by various squats and burpees because the hips and the thighs are the biggest muscles and are the easiest to burn off calories. By early August (5 weeks into the program) I developed knee pain and could not walk downhill anymore. Throughout this Maryann was still urging me to go back to the gym to exercise so that she could get paid (she's paid by piecework). I took x-rays and ultrasound images and was diagnosed with both quadriceps enthesopathy and patellar tendinopathy. It costs more money to take the pills and the prescribed chiropractor therapies and physio-therapies than the 6 weeks of exercising from Maryann.
Housefit is a fantastic gym! Alex is extremely professional and works hard to develop a nutrition plan that's simple to follow and catered to individual religious and medical needs. While the meal plan takes dedication and can be tough to follow, when coupled with the workouts it leads to real results! The entire team at Housefit is welcoming and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. I've never felt healthier - I've seen clear results in my weight loss and improvement in my stamina and strength! I'll definitely be recommending Housefit to family and friends!
To be honest, results speak for itself. In 3 months I went from 32% body fat to 15%. You could probably try a regime at home and start getting fitter - but the personal attention and care Alex gives with a highly tailored personalized scheduled is just truly fabulous. I would highly recommend Alex for anyone who cares about physical and mental health and wants to live fitter. Positives : highly flexible schedule, personalized plan, nutrition plan that doesn’t punish the body, focus on care and the person rather than the business. Alex and all the trainers (Sajed, Rolph, Jonathan, others) are so friendly and invested in each person that it is hard to slow down or quit. The facility itself is extremely clean and sanitized and made me feel very safe.

Terrible vibes, I came THIS CLOSE to signing up twice in the last two years and both times after talking to Alex I just got a nagging feeling that this place is all about the money first and then client second. I reached out to him this week after a year since we last spoke, letting him know that this time I'm ready to sign up, and before asking any questions or answering any of mine, he asked if he could send me an invoice. I even told him I was "dying to sign up" and that I just needed some reassurance about my concern. Every single message of his talked about payment, whether it was, should he send me an invoice? Can I settle the invoice before he addressed my concerns? Instead of answering my questions he then went ahead and cancelled the invoice without waiting for me to let him know whether I wanted to cancel the invoice or not. A place that has zero flexibility, asks for all the money up front, doesn't offer any payment plans for clients, doesn't offer the chance to cancel membership if the service doesn't meet expectations... He didn't even agree to a consultation (the first one was over a year ago when I was considering signing up) before having me pay up. Those are big red flags that kept me from settling the invoice both times. I've only attached two screenshots of the message exchanges because I'm not sure what the privacy rules are here. There's another long 1 star review here on Google, I urge you to read it. It's well written and I'd check it out before signing up if I was you, because negative reviews can't be bought.
I'm not sure how there could be better trainers in Toronto, especially for the money, than at Housefit. Way better than a trainer who will just oversee your workouts. Put simply, Alex and his team get results and gave me life tools needed to succeed - simple, practical and realistic nutrition and fitness tools. Alex matched me up with trainer Joseph Park. Joseph knows his stuff, is a good motivator and coach, and our personalities worked well together. Sometimes I hesitate to recommend services and products, but Housefit is an easy endorsement.
Literally only went to the place because it was around the corner from my house but my experience there as been fantastic. In 3 months I've lost just under 35 pounds. The trainers are really helpful and clearly enthusiastic about health and fitness. Alex in particular is very patient and understanding. When I first started he told me this wasn't just a fat loss camp but rather a lifestyle change and I was thinking "ah yeah whatever like let's just hit the treadmill" but 3 months in I have a whole different mindset to diet and exercise and I've never felt healthier and more motivated to continue.

I would 100% recommend coming to Housefit if you are looking for a challenge for yourself. The program that was curated for me was originally suppose to be for 6 months but I enjoyed the sessions I was having with my trainers so much that I extended it for an additional 6. The progress I made wouldn't have been possible without Alex and all the trainers I've been with. Alex will provide you with the necessary dietary tools you need to start losing weight and gaining muscle. I also had a variety of different trainers throughout the year which taught me a slew of different techniques. Honestly Housefit was like a second home for me and I was sad to be leaving after the year

I felt guilty not writing a review to warn people so here I am. This is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. THE GOOD - My trainer just started working there a few days before I signed up and he was fabulous. My trainer asked how much weight Alex (the owner) expected me to lose, and he was the only one that asked, "but do you want to be that thin?" I was not asked how much weight I wanted to lose, but assigned to it, which is not good for body dysmorphia. At least the trainer was the only person who asked me what goals I wanted in order to feel good about my body. THE BAD - Only after one week, I was hospitalized because the weight loss diet plan is NOT SAFE. After many tests (negative for covid, heart test, etc.) and two blood tests, two doctors and the nurse told me it was because the diet plan was dangerous, made my body undergo ketosis and lack essential things that my body needed. I was completely healthy aside from that, so I was hospitalized solely due to the diet plan. I told my doctor what was in the diet plan and he disapproved. I had faintness, weakness, the inability to focus on work or tasks, and I couldn't sleep from the constant headache. THE UGLY - After coming out of the hospital, he did not apologize for his diet plan doing this to me, but rather apologizes that I had feelings. He does not take ownership of his mistakes. He wanted to get me back into the gym while I was still recovering from needing to go to the hospital and wanted to charge me again to make adjustments to the diet plan that sent me to the hospital. Where was the empathy? The owner made me cry and he couldn't be bothered to feel bad at all and INSISTED ON CHARGING ME FOR HIM TO FIX HIS MISTAKES. If you go here, you will be seen as a walking bag of money. I asked for a copy of the contract I signed to review it, as I have legal rights to, and get a copy for when he goes back into the office, but proceeds to tell me he's busy with many clients and that I'm not the only client he has. I was reasonably asking for my basic rights, but he choses to belittle me. Initially, he refused to send me a virtual copy, but after some tearful discussion, he sent me blurry, barely legible pictures of the contract close to midnight. He is so high on his horse he doesn't realize that he is not the only personal training gym in the area. The price doesn't match the level of professionalism or quality. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I did. After all that, he couldn't apologize on his own initiative. I sent him a formal complaint email, but that didn't change anything, as I see another 1 star review was left recently. Please, take my review into consideration. The results you might ask? I have lost A LOT of weight, enough that people who haven't seen me in a while won't recognize me anymore. I have more energy, I pay less for insurance and on clothes (no more Plus size for me) and his direction on how to remain focused and fight for results helped me in my professional life too. Alex and Jonathan at Housefit have transformed me and my wife over the past year. Starting in February at very-out-of-shape 230 lbs., I am down to 175 lbs. of muscle and feeling better than I have physically in my whole adult life. My wife has had similar great results (but I won't share her numbers publicly)! We started with couples on-line zoom sessions with just a few small hand weights in our basement, and we have since moved into the gym in a great environment with COVID protocols in place. The diet has been challenging, but the rules are easy to understand and the results start basically right away. You can see the difference that a properly regulated diet and the right kinds of exercise make immediately. Alex measures our progress and makes educated adjustments along the way, and Jonathan keeps us honest in the gym. Housefit was life changing for me. The owner, Alex, and all of their trainers are absolutely fantastic. Housefit helps you learn to push your boundaries in all the right ways. I always struggled to push myself on my own and keep myself accountable and that's where housefit made the biggest impact for me. My trainers kept me accountable for my meals - which Housefit helps you plan - and helped tailor my workouts according to my preferences while pushing my limits safely and effectively. I had to move from Toronto to Thunder Bay so I couldn't continue my journey with Housefit but everything I learned and practiced, I've continued to implement and have been in the best shape physically and mentally than I've ever been before. In the two months I've been working out with Alex and DJ, I've gone from 174lbs to 152lbs. My body fat has dropped from 19% to 13.8%. My overall fitness has improved beyond what i could have hoped for in such a short space of time, and my stamina playing soccer has gone back to what it was five years ago. I have struggled with my weight for my entire life and have tried everything under the sun to lose the extra pounds with no success until I met Alex and Maryanne from HouseFit. I've been on the program for 15 weeks now and have lost a total of 60 pounds so far. Alex has a wealth of knowledge about nutrition and has customized a diet for me that is well rounded, balanced, and most importantly easy to follow. The exercise program developed and supervised by Maryanne is sufficiently challenging but doable even for a complete novice like me. She encourages me to push just that little bit harder but also understands my physical limitations. I can honestly say that HouseFit has completely changed my life. I have more energy now than I had when I was 20, I can go out and do things that I haven't been able to do in years, and people that I don't see very often comment on how much I've changed, not only physically but my attitude as well. Housefit is amazing! Alex and Ali are terrific coaches, very knowledgeable and passionate on what they do. For context, I work crazy hours and have strenuous workload so I find it hard to find time for myself to develop a healthy lifestyle. However, with Housefit, they are very flexible with my time and very accessible whenever I need help. For a beginner like me, I find that their program is very straight forward and I was able to get excellent results in a short amount of time. Losing ~10 lbs within 3 weeks of starting is no easy feat, but I was able to achieve that thanks to them and I still have long ways to go. They also provide very detailed but easy to follow diet program and if you require different food requirements, alternatives will be provided. Same goes with the workouts, they are specifically tailored to my goals, and they are focused on keeping me on track as well as keeping me motivated. Ali and Alex are wonderful to work with and very personable. They go above and beyond my expectations of what a personal trainer would be like before taking on the program. All in all, I’m happy that I was able to find Housefit and are deserving of all the positive reviews posted about them before mine.

I had an amazing trainer (Robert) who supported me as well. Robert taught me all my techniques and pushed me hard throughout my workouts and answered all my fitness questions. Alex has helped me lose the weight I could not have lost on my own despite working out 6 days a week for years. I recommend this program to everyone! Eight months later, as I faced myself from the mirror of GoodLife Fitness working on my own, I was to remember that passionate house where Alex and his talent team trained me towards my personal goal. I highly recommend HouseFit for personal training program because they have world class level trainers with affordable prices locating at the center of Toronto. I came here to keep fit and gain muscle. I have trained with Alex, Sam and Danielle. All of them have sufficient knowledges and tons of experiences. I was able to lose 15 lbs. fat and gain 10 lbs. muscles in my first training cycle with Alex's and his team. After graduating from HouseFit, I gained 9 lbs. muscles in my second training cycle working on my own. At HouseFit, they not only train you, but also teach you how to do it on your own so that you can continue to work out and keep fit going forward. I’ve learnt a lot from Alex and his team and now I’ve had capability to train work out on my own sharing my knowledges to my friends and families. I’ve referred some friends to HouseFit. Lost 130 pounds. Alex's diets work and the training with Yulia was effective. Yulia knows her stuff, and ensures you are using proper form. If you are serious about getting results, i recommend giving this gym a try.

No doubt 5 starts for this facility. I had an amazing time at Housefit while doing my co-op. The trainers are very friendly and easy to talk to. Alex Chan, the owner of Housefit, along with the other trainers like Joseph and Tina really know how to make you feel like you belong there. They take pride in their job and bring the best out of you. They guarantee you results when you buy your training sessions. Alex takes 90 minutes out of his day just for a free assessment! 90 minutes! I have seen many clients change over the 5 months of co-op that I did. The shock and joy in their faces when they realize how much they have accomplished is incredible. Bottom line, just a wonder place to be at! I recommend you buy sessions here because this gym isn't like any other...
The team at Housefit are some of the most passionate and knowledgeable group of fitness trainers in Toronto. At first, I was intimidated by the sheer idea of personal training. I was never an athletic person and I never enjoyed physical activities. Clearly, was wrong. Housefit had a very open/safe learning environment. Anyone could become fit here and you don't have to be passed out on the floor to become fit. My trainer, Kunga, was both informative and socialable. While his sense of humour isn't for everyone, Kunga is an encylopedia when it comes to exercises. He helped me get through some tough hurdles and encouraged me to do even better with every personal best. Even when I was having an off day, Kunga managed to juice out every ounce of will power out of me. The results speak for themselves. During my fatloss stage, I've lost over 25 pounds and got my bodyfat percentage down to 8%. Now that Im in my muscle phase, I've gained those pounds back but with a completely different body composition (less fat, more lean muscle). Alex, the headtrainer, will customize your meal plans based on your monthly results so you know its not just the cookie cutter meal plan you can get online. I reccomend Housefit to anyone who needs a change of pace in their every day life. Whether it be a healthier lifestyle, a boost of confidence, or a sculpted body. Its an investment that will stick with you for a lifetime.

Prior to joining Housefit, I started a weight loss journey using intermittent fasting. I was loosing weight, but it was slow and I felt lousy because I was not eating. The arrow in the diagram shows my weight loss graph when I joined Housefit. You can see the dramatic acceleration in weight loss, which has been consistent. Moreover, I am eating more than I usually do, but it is the right kind of food. I feel so much better. I have also come off of my medications. Shopping for food and meal prep is very straight forward and takes little time. Some of the meals are very tasty-that's coming from my kids who have shared what I have cooked. My exercise routine at the gym has been dialled in by Sajed perfectly. I burn off tons of calories without having any aches or pains the next day-I used to have pain just getting out of bed! Alex has tons of experience and an army of clients who have consistently undergone amazing transformations-check out his website. He knows what he is doing, and can back that up with plenty of results. You just have to follow the process-don't think about it too much and take action! Thanks Alex and Sajed. Alex and Ali have been great, the diet has been clear and easy to follow without being too restrictive and I've been getting great results with the training. They have also been great with scheduling and coming up with whole workouts that I can do over Skype with minimal equipment in my small apartment. Highly recommend their services if you're looking to get in shape or make a lifestyle change.
Alex and team are incredible. I’ve been with Housefit for almost 4 months now and it’s exceeded my expectations. Not only do they have their program down to a science, they also listen to your goals and tailor their program/workouts etc to you. What I like most is that they are a kind, caring small business and genuinely want you to succeed. They are not gimmicky – they put in the work so that their clients can see their best possible results. My fitness trainer Johnathan has been amazing – he carefully thinks through the workouts, tailors them to me, is motivating, professional and listens. He also switches around the workouts to keep it fun. The great thing about Housefit is that it’s not just about working out, they help you and evaluate your overall fitness (sleep, nutrition, water intake etc). They help you adapt better habits that will help you be stronger, healthier (body and mind) and that will stay with you for the long run. They are also very responsive. If I have a question about working out or about nutrition or anything else, Alex has always there and will respond with great advice. He’s there for his clients even outside of the times you’re at the gym. After being in a major slump, Housefit has helped me get excited about my goals again – I have not only lost weight but have also become more focused in other parts of my life and have had a confidence boost.
