It's unfortunate that Gander only has the one hospital. My uncle is there right now and has "slipped through the cracks". His condition upon arrival a couple of weeks ago and his condition now has deteriorated with little to nothing done about it. He went from speaking and acknowledging people to very little response at all now. He has since fallen, bumping his head (as did another Uncle of mine who was unfortunate to have to seek the services of James Paton Memorial Hospital) and an MRI request that was put in almost a week ago somehow didn't make it to the department and he is still waiting. It's just ridiculous and unacceptable!!!

This hospital is saving people's lives, just not yours.

Gander hospital is absolutely horrible. My doctor has sent in two ultrasound referrals in the last month and a half which neither have apparently made it there.

The lab is a bit rediculous here and always seems to be packed, I've never been to emerge but I have heard about long wait times and 5 min care that didn't address the problem the patient was having but rather dismissed it as something benign. My experience with pediatrics was amazing the scheduling is spot on, the receptionist is friendly and helpful and the pedestrians are awesome, they explain things so we can understand and help us decide on the best course of action for care. Obstetrics have been great also with our new little one, Dr MacDonald is friendly and helpful, Dr Geumei was very direct, answered our questions and listened to all of my wife's concerns. He made sure to walk us through my wife's c-section and took care of her before and after surgery. Also the ultrasound staff are very good and friendly and explain everything even though they are crazy busy. The major problem I've faced is promarily with reception, they are so slow and I have missed appointments because I came in on time and had to wait 30 min for reception to sign us in. It isn't rocket science, one only needs to register your name and MCP and done. Either a new system needs to be created for the receptionists to work with or take them out of the equation and make it automated with scannable MCP cards.

Been here a few times with my mom. Cancer team here is very good and helpful. Very friendly nurses and the cancer patient navigator is awesome! My only complaint is the emergency registration is a bit confusing, which is temporary due to construction there. We had to go there one time and people that showed up seemed confused as to where to go and what to do. Once inside though the staff were all very good. Overall I’m quite impressed with this hospital. As for wait times, they are long all over Canada it seems at least from my experience anyway.

Currently in the waiting room, I have been here for 16 hrs and counting. Brought my boyfriend dad in with extremely bad pain in his side and morphine has done nothing to help. We are waiting for test results since and it seems no one has any clue how much longer he's going to wait. What will it take for someone to change the health care system here. Good forbid if someone should die waiting before they look at fixing the problems.

I have been calling ct department for three weeks leaving vm . No one has called me back. I find it hard to believe they are that busy every day for three weeks .
