Mary is amazing I went to her for pelvic floor physiotherapy after having a baby and she is very thorough, caring, knowledgeable I would recommend any woman postpartum to see her.

Mary Woods is highly skilled and knowledgable. If you have rare pelvic health issues like PGAD, she is the one to see.

I had a fantastic time with Suzie for acupuncture! It was my first experience with acupuncture treatments and she truly helped me through a very difficult time in my life. She was kind and thorough, explaining everything as she did it and was very respectful to all my feedback about how the points felt. I would highly recommend seeing her for any pain, stress and many more issues you may experience.

John was superb!???????????? I had a hip/glute injury and he diagnosed exactly where I was in need of some attention. He gave me some quality easy exercises I could do at home (man were they ever effective!!) I am so glad I did the work and followed the program he gave me. *Bonus* He also gave me some exercises that will help me with some pain I have always experienced while running. * If you are in need of a physiotherapist to recover after injury, or just to get better control over your body I HIGHLY RECOMMEND John at Cura Physical Therapies! Take it from this athlete, you WILL thank yourself (and them)!

I had chronic pain in my shoulder and tingling in my arm. When massage, chiropractor and another physio therapist did not work I was encouraged to go to CURA and see Linda Quinn. She looked at my entire body, not just the area in pain and helped to realign areas where I had been over compensating. The fantastic way I feel now, is my new reality. All the staff at CURA are friendly and efficient. They make me feel welcome and that they truly care about my well being. :) It's the only Physio therapist office I would go to now!

My daughter had knee issues starting in elementary school. After two knee surgeries she is now in high school . She saw physiotherapists at three different locations, all referenced by our doctors or knee surgeon. That said, our experience at Cura was beyond exceptional. They don't just tell you what exercise to do and walk away or hook you up to a stimulating machine for 10 minutes... the staff at Cura stays with you and ensuring you're triggering the right muscles. What we appreciated the most was the whole body approach. They didn't just look at the issue, they addresses every muscle involved with solutions, exercises and unique treatment. Their technology is state of the art and we wish we would have been at their clinic five years ago. The experience from the other three clinics to Cura was so different my daughter asked to purchase (with her own money) flowers to thank her therapist!! To me, that speaks volumes!!

The entire team made me feel comfortable, safe, and supported. As a trauma survivor, finding a clinic and practitioner to make you feel in control and calm is really important, and I found that here. As a physio myself, I would highly recommend!

I can't thank the amazing staff at Cura Physical Therapies enough for their dedication to patient care. From the friendly administrative personnel, that accommodate my erratic schedule, to the specialized physiotherapists who have drastically improved the quality of my life. I have had chronic pain from a 10 year old injury. I knew my therapist Liz was not going to "fix" me, as taking care of my body is ultimately my responsibility, but what she has done is listened to me and developed a personalized approach to my care plan that finally works for me and I am seeing progress that has allowed me to enjoy activities that I have not been able to do for years. A big thanks to physiotherapist Tanya as well for specialized acupuncture therapy that, although I was skeptical about at first, proved to be extremely effective. I would definitely recommend this team to anyone who seriously wants to improve the quality of their health and take control of their pain.

Everyone here is so wonderful and helpful. I went in with one issue from a doctors referral and left many sessions with others soleve. Unfortunately many of my issues were connected so it took longer than originally planned to help sort them out but many have been fixed with a interactive plan from the physiotherapist herself!. The people here are so great and professional. I haven't been in a while considering my conditions have subsided, however I am sure the staff are still all fantastic and cheery and thats sure whats needed at those 730 AM appointments!

After ages of waiting to go deal with my health and my issues, I finally made an appointment at Cura, and I'm so happy I did. Mary was a fabulous PT, and helped me deal with years of issues in a matter of a few sessions. She taught me things about my self that I already knew, but maybe did not comes to term with. She not only helped with my pelvic floor issues, but she also helped me with other non-related physical issues. She also showed me exercises that works for my body, and advised me on things that would would better for me, not just a one size fits all solution. She was fun, easy to talk to and caring. I would recommend Mary in a heartbeat. Thank you for helping bring back my health, Mary! :)

Mary works miracles. If you are experiencing post partum pelvic pain or intimate pain. GO. NOW. 10 months of issues basically fixed in 2 sessions ????

I recently had knee surgery and went to Cura to get some exercises. Throughout my time I was able to see 2 fantastic physiotherapists (Loreen and Liz). Both were very professional and helped me so much with my recovery!

Meagan McGlenn

Following the delivery of my son I had awful tailbone pain. Working with Mary was the best experience I had with a medical professional in the experience of trying to be pain free. She truly cared about helping with my pain. I recommend Cura to anyone for pelvic floor Physio following labor/delivery/pregnancy!

I have been driving from Calgary to Edmonton for the last 10 months with absolutely no regrets. Tanya is fantastic! I have no idea what I would have done without her.

Sonya had been so helpful. Everyone is so friendly, answered all my questions and address the issues I came to them for. I have recommended them to all my pregnant and postpartum friends. Your body doesn't have to be broken just because you had a baby. Great experience.

Kaye Burrows

I feel better in my body than I have in years! I am so grateful to Mary and her team at Cura. I was listened to, cared for, and truly felt like the approach was holistic and big picture.

Nadia is truly amazing and has been such a life saver for me! I started seeing her for pelvic floor therapy shortly after I gave birth and experienced a difficult delivery. She is professional, kind and caring, and very knowledgeable. She was very reassuring that she could help me when I came in feeling rather hopeless and she was right! I give her the highest recommendation and am so happy I found her! You will not regret seeing her as a patient.

Lately, I made several visits to Cura Physical Therapies in Edmonton's west end. I was seeking exercises for the neck, the hips, the lower back, the abdomen and for general well-being. I was very pleased with the therapist who worked with me. Jon was very professional, always willing to adapt his suggested exercises to those I was more apt to perform. For example, I don't like going to a pool and wearing a bathing suit and therefore, Jon willingly left aquatic exercises out of my program. He provided me with excellent summaries after each session with detailed written instructions of the suggested exercises as well as links to online videos and demonstrations of how the exercises were done. He had a great sense of humor making each visit enjoyable and entertaining. I also appreciated the office staff who were all very friendly and accommodating.

I received a letter today from Mary Wood and CURA's lawyer informing that she intends and reserves the right to commence action against me for defamation if I don't pull down my google review and write a letter of apology to her. My previous review was emotionally charged, especially after reading the review from Tina Thompson below and learning that her obgyn had indicated that others had complained of aggressive physiotherapy by Sheena. I have decided to rewrite it with no emotions and give factual information and history of what happened because I believe people need to know what transpired to inform their own decisions. Had I been privy to the review below by Tina Thompson earlier, I may have made a different decision on whether to pursue physiotherapy for pelvic and pregnancy-related pain and with whom. In 2012, I was referred by my ob/gyn for pelvic pain with positive results then subsequently I came for back pain during pregnancy. By my last pregnancy, Sheena treated my entire spine (including my neck) when I did not ask for nor consented to the treatment. This destabilized my neck and caused me serious issues that has led me on a trail to several physiotherapists, emergency departments and neurologists, with each making the issue worse. Eventually, I found a chiropractor to fix the issue but by then the damage has been done. I now have multiple nerve pain, back and neck pain, head spasms, occipital pain (base of skull) and persistent dizziness. After speaking with Sheena with no resolution, I called the clinic crying as I was in pain and suicidally depressed. The receptionist said I needed to talk to Mary. They then called my husband and the cops and told my husband to call in a few hours. I called her back and she asked if my husband was there and I said yes. She said she could see that Sheena had treated me a few times. She asked what I wanted from her and I kept asking her why Sheena “manipulated” my neck and she said she didn’t manipulate it, that she treated it. I asked her why? She then said their philosophy was to treat the whole body and if there was an adverse effect, it would have happened right away (I was sore for a number of days after the manipulation). She then went on to say that Sheena takes detailed notes and I couldn’t prove that it was her that did it as people do get better and that I will have to wait 2 years to file a lawsuit. I then told her that the chiropractor I saw said my entire spine was misaligned and it was only Sheena that treated both my back and neck. She asked who my chiropractor was and that they use a different technique than chiropractors. She then asked what I wanted from her, I still asked her why Sheena treated my neck, she then said she didn’t know why. I told her I did not consent to it. She then asked me if I had seen my family doctor and I told her all the tests that I had done and the referral to neurologists. She then told me that I had chronic pain and neurologist will only give me medications and doctors don’t understand soft tissues. She asked that I stopped going to Physiotherapy and should go to my doctor and ask for a referral to Health Pointe as they are a multidisciplinary team. She said it will take 6 to 8 weeks to get in and I can ask to be on their waiting list. Over the next months I suffered with physical, emotional and psychological pain and decided I didn’t want anybody to go through what I and my family went and continue to go through. I have PTSD and anxiety and keep getting flashbacks of the neck manipulation and full of regret for going to physiotherapy. I spent the bulk of my maternity leave seeking treatment for neck issues rather than caring for my children and wished I had endured the back pain. I have been in therapy because of it and was unable to return to work after my maternity leave. I had an unpleasant treatment experience during my visit and believe it is in the public interest to share my experience, so people, especially pregnant women can weigh the risks of pursuing prenatal physiotherapy as it wasn't revealed to me.

From the time I entered Cura I was made to fell at ease by the friendly reception Staff . I was nervous as I had never been to physio before and I didn’t know what to expect . My therapist explained everything to me and gave me the opportunity and time to ask questions no matter how silly I felt the questions were. She was professional and each visit we set our goal and worked we towards them . Even with the most intimate of procedure I was made to feel at ease and always in control . My experience was postive and successful. Now I am able to feel like myself again , it been a long journey but Cura was the light at the end of my tunnel. Thank you Cura for all the work you do .

I had the misfortune of being recommend to see this PT back in 2010ish. I was a young, terrified university student and sexual abuse victim recently diagnosed with vulvodynia. Sheena ignored my multiple requests that I wanted only information and did not want to be touched at all our first session. (I even started saying that my doctor said not to touch me because he was going to examine me the next day and did not want me to be red or inflamed!) However, in my fragile emotional state, Sheena ignored my requests and over the course of the session managed to convince me, crying, to get on her table where she used dilators because she said it would be good for me. It most definitely was not good for me - I was extremely traumatized and in physical agony, and left the clinic in tears, without responding to the receptionist. No one called to check and I could not handle the thought of trying PT again for years. When I complained to the doctor who recommended her, he said that yes, many of his patients had complained she was “too aggressive” in her treatment plan. Well, years later and in therapy for sexual abuse, I was educated that, whether or not it was intentional, Sheena had taken advantage of her position of power as a PT and sexually assaulted (technically raped) me - she did not listen to my many requests to not touch me and continued to penetrate me despite my tears, protests of pain, and clearly traumatized state. It may be hard to understand how someone wouldn’t just say “no” or leave in this situation, but the “freeze” or learned helplessness response is very common for women who have been chronically sexually abused. Especially for someone who is an “expert” and says they know what is best for you. It was hard enough for me to say “no” multiple times, and that was the best effort I could do at the time to protect myself. When I called the clinic about 5 years later to complain, the lady made it sound like Sheena had been let go years ago, and apologized profusely for what had happened and offered to see me for free. So, I told myself I didn’t need to say or do anything about to protect other women, it as it had been taken care of. However, I see this is not the case and Sheena is still working there! >:/ The Larry Nassar case has reopened this old trauma for me and I feel the need to warn other women to be careful with Sheena, especially as my obgyn had said many other women had complaints similar to mine. (I have no idea why he continued to refer traumatized women to her despite the many complaints; another case of negligence.) While I’m sure Sheena has helped many women, I find it appalling that someone whose area of expertise means they will routinely work with sexual abuse victims could be so emotionally blind to the needs of such victims, and in fact re-traumatize them. If you are an abuse victim and need a sensitive, respectful, non-threatening approach to PT, then I suggest looking elsewhere. I can say without a doubt my healing journey would have been much better off if I’d never been to CURA and experienced this secondary trauma.

Linda is an amazing PT. She can help with any pelvic issues but looks at the whole body and has treated other ailments. She makes me feel very comfortable and I always feel better after seeing her. If I needed to see a PT, she will always be my first choice!

I started seeing Nadia due to pelvic pain and other women's health issues. She has been very informative, supportive, kind and overall a huge help to me in healing these issues. Thanks to her I have made more progress then I thought was possible and graduated physio in just a few months. I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much Nadia!

Little Miss Daisy

Pelvic physio and pelvic floor health was something I had never thought about before my Dr. suggested it, and now I couldn't imagine my life without it! I was so sad and frustrated with the problems I was having but since doing physio everything has improved dramatically. It's not a quick fix, but it's well worth the work. Thanks for making me feel better and giving me the knowledge to help myself.

Tanya was wonderful! Mary on the other hand was rude, dismissive, and offensive. Never again. Better off to drive to Calgary if necessary.

Farah Reiews

My experience with Mary at CURA has been wonderful. She has a great sense of humor and is very supportive of my progress. It can be difficult to book an appointment for the first time if you listen to the answering machine that tells you to push 1 for this, 2 for that, etc. Just push 0 and you will get through to a human being who can actually help you book your appointment right away.

Briana Cowan

I'm so relieved to have found Mary during some of the hardest days of my life. She picked me up and motivated me to keep going forward healing my injuries. She is an angel.

Roxane Hankins

After several years living with abdominal pain, Mary changed my life. So very grateful.

I was referred to Cura Physical Therapies by my gynaecologist in January 2021. I had so many problems with my pelvis and the pain was radiating to the point that it hurt to sit, or to bend to put my socks on in the morning. Nadia assessed me and started working away at the problem. Within 6 months, my pain went from a 9 to a 1. I've had a couple follow up appointments since then and everything seems to be stable now to the point where physio is no longer required. Last January, I didn't know whether I would be leading a life filled with pain, and things felt so hopeless. Nadia was a real blessing.
