It was 7:45 PM when we came to visit. The lady at the front said they were closed, even though we had 15 minutes to spare. I asked if I could walk up and take a picture on the deck. She said no and come back in the morning. I said we were driving to St John tonight. She didn't seam to care. Next time, when you have two paying visitors, be sure to accommodate, especially since we are visiting from the US. Either update your hours or show some decent courtesy for a couple of paying visitors who would have stayed no longer than 15 mins.

If you have the opportunity, eat on the patio. It's a great little place tucked away in Grand Falls-Windsor where you can feel like you're out of town without really leaving town.

I was skeptical but this turned out to be an interesting stop. Very informative. Good way to learn about salmon's life cycles. Just make sure you get there before those tour busses or you'll have to wait a while for a tour. A walk around the area is also interesting.

Stephen Silk

An amazing pace to take children and for all interested in nature. Been there several times since a young child and never disappointed. Also it’s in a beautiful part of the exploits river where a lot of amazing local history can be found!

Great place. Met a guy (potentially the owner) who'd given us SO much insightful info!! Great view of the falls as well from this spot.

This was another of our unexpected stops and we found it informative and interesting. I had no idea that the fishery in the Atlantic provinces extended to freshwater fish as well! I suppose it only makes sense but Newfoundland and Labrador has quite an extensive network of freshwater fishing places. The landscape certainly lends to that. This exhibit is interesting because it is a fantastic example of a successful (both for the humans and the environment and its wildlife) expansion of spawning grounds for salmon of the river system. The interpretation centre is part of the project and serves also to provide education to the public about the project and the fish and environment. We did not go quite at the right season to see salmon jumping up river but learned a lot about the impressive project and the benefits it has been providing. If you’re interested in resource management, ecology or simply the fish, this is a great stop for you. The views to get there are amazing over the bridge and the surrounding area and walking trail too. It is a little tricky to find but your GPS is probably not wrong leading you on some backroads etc.

Kelly Cote

Lots of interesting info. Great places to walk. Friendly staff.

Lee Woodworth

The salmonid center was awesome. Short 8 minute video of the development of the river and the work to increase the salmon stock shows how successful the salmon husbandry has been in this area.

Great place to watch the salmon jump. 8 was there a little early in the season this year so there weren't many, but I've been there during peak season and it's great! The restaurant has amazing food.

I'm giving a three as we were not able to see the whole centre as hours of operation in June are not listed correctly on Google. We were sold tickets under the impression we had over 45 minutes to view the facility, which would be a good amount of time. What we did see was good and informative.

Debra Arscott

Waited at the cash to let them know we were going to sit outside as the sign on the door told us to do but before I even opened my mouth the employee went into a spiel about how busy they were, that there were only two waitresses working, etc.I think she assumed I was going to complain....very defensive...I had to interrupt her to tell her we'd be patiently waiting on the deck. We waited 45 minutes and didn't get any acknowledgement at all,no menu, drink order,nothing...they were busy but not full, there were empty tables...ended up leaving...never again. Very poor customer service, I have never ever been treated this bad anywhere else.

Valerie Cole

Beautiful spot

Tenant Association

The staff are rude and racist. Elderly Caucasian lady really ruined the experience for many guests attending for a wedding. Be sure to get things in writing from Mangment or they will not follow through with promises. There are plenty of beautiful places in Newfoundland I would not recommend this one.

Deb Stephen

Melissa Woodhall

A really cool spot and must see if you are visiting or passing through Grand Falls/Windsor. Lots to learn and see, guides on site and an underwater observation area. Don't be fooled by it's poor representation on the net, I highly recommend a stop in!

Never heard of this before visit. Very interesting. Staff were very gentle and made us understand about ladders of Salmon's home traveling.

Mitchell Molloy

our family went there today, sept.1/2019. We told the server that we would be sitting outside, so we then waited 45 mins, never seen the server, so we then went and put 2 tables together and sat inside. waited another 30mins to get menu's. once ordering we waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food, then wait another 15mins for utensils. the food wasn't even close to satisfactory, most of the food was returned and the server said she couldnt even believe it was allowed to leave the kitchen. we were given the excuse that someone called in sick and that some appliances were malfunctioning. spoke to some people in the area and it turns out apparently thats the usual excuse. safe to say you lost future customers.

Beautiful view of the river and falls. Hard to believe such a Modernized facility exists. When I was a kid, there only existed a concrete ladder way and a concrete wall with a peice of yellowed glass to see the salmon. A must visit for tourists and locals alike.
