This review concerns the receptionist. I had my MRI in May (2017), and have yet to have my follow up appointment. The first time, my appointment was cancelled due to a power outage where the receptionist told me I would recieve a call back to reschedule. That call back never happened so two or three weeks later, I called back to take an appointment. Let's clarify that this actually takes days to do because 98% of the time, no one answers the phone, the OS disconnects you, or the wrong receptionist answers and asks you to call back when the physiatry receptionist is present. Good luck. ANYWAY, finally booked my follow up, for 2pm one afternoon. At 3:30, I still had not been seen. I had another appointment at 4pm so I had to leave, which the receptionist thought was absolutely ridiculous- she also wished me luck getting a new appointment (don't worry girl, I already know this is right up there with climbing Everest). She eventually said she would call me the following week. Well. Its been three weeks and, after calling 8 times in a row with no answer, I really feel as though I should give up. It is especially unfortunate because this doctor seemed to be the only one to take my symptoms seriously. They desperately need better staff.

The doctor I saw told me that I could come back when needed and see any specialist working at this clinic. Wrong. Lie. After one year, it is as if I had never been there. The secretary explained to me that their specialists were not General Practitioners. I know that, thank you very much. No need to infantilize me. I had an appointment with DR. J.D. and everything went well. She figured out what was wrong with my wrist and prescribed me a wrist brace. Very pleased because my wrist used to bother me for many years and I didn't know whyl. Found out that I am hypermobile and when I sleep I seem to bend my wrist in an awkward position which is the cause for my never ending soreness. Thanks to Dr. J. D. I have no more wrist pain.

I will be 86 in a few days and several of my friends have had to have knee or hip surgeries. A few years ago my family doctor referred me to the physiatrist, Dr Sideco, because I had a knee problem and it was getting harder and harder to walk up and down the stairs. Dr Sideco told me that I might need surgery eventually but that he could help delay this deadline. He prescribed four things for me: 1) to lose weight 2) to exercise every day; i.e. walking +++ 3) monitor my diet 4) follow physiotherapy treatments. I lost ten pounds in just over a month; I attended the CDN / Côte des neiges Physiatry Clinic for one summer: quite an investment in terms of time; three times ten treatments; When the knee was restored, the physiotherapist prescribed four exercises for me to do daily to maintain the gains obtained during the treatment. I continue to do them; I have not been operated on and my knee no longer hurts; unless I neglect exercise or walking. I consider that if physiotherapy treatments were more accessible; if the state favored such a medical approach more, there would be much less surgery and the quality of life of old people like me would be better. jaf (Original) Mon expérience à cette clinique date d'une dizaine d'années (il me semble...). Ça fait un bon moment que je veux venir exprimer ma gratitude envers le Dr Sideco et sa Clinique. J'aurai 86 ans dans quelques jours et plusieurs de mes ami(e)s ont dû subir des chirurgies au genou ou à la hanche. Il y a quelques années, mon médecin de famille m'a référée au physiatre, le Dr Sideco, parce que j'avais un problème au genou et il me devenait de plus en plus difficile de monter et descendre les escaliers. Le Dr Sideco m'a dit qu'il se pouvait que j'aie besoin d'une chirurgie éventuellement mais qu'il pouvait aider à retarder cette échéance. Il m'a prescrit quatre choses: 1) de perdre du poids 2) de faire des exercices à tous les jours; i.e. de la marche +++3) de surveiller mon alimentation 4) de suivre des traitements en physiothérapie. J'ai perdu dix livres en un peu plus d'un mois; j'ai fréquenté la Clinique de physiatrie CDN/Côte des neiges pendant un été: tout un investissement en terme de temps; trois fois dix traitements; le genou rétabli, la physiothérapeute m'a prescrit quatre exercices à faire quotidiennement pour maintenir les gains obtenus au cours des traitement. Je continue à les faire; je n'ai pas été opérée et n'ai plus du tout mal au genou; sauf si je néglige les exercices ou la marche. Je considère que si les traitements en physiothérapie étaient plus accessibles; si l'état favorisait davantage une telle approche médicale, il y aurait beaucoup moins de chirurgie et la qualité de vie des vieux comme moi serait meilleure. jaf
