Cannot stand these guys. I really don't know how they survive on prime Bank St. real estate selling archaic photo equipment. The last thing on bought turn out to be a piece of garbage. I also find them extremely patronizing.

I dropped off my Pentax MEF, because the shutter stuck sometimes and they would get me a quote to get it fixed. The camera had the standard 50mm lens attached to it (which had nothing wrong with it) They lost both items. And only when I reminded them that the lens was in perfect working condition did they offer me "a discount" on buying something from their store. I did not take them up on it.

I went in looking to add a 1970s working Polaroid camera to my collection. The owner helped me find one in working condition, and gave me a really great price on it. There was even some film in it! We took photographs to see if it still worked, and even though the photos didn't come out (I suspect the film had been oxidized over time), I was pleased. I came back a few days later with fresh film and took photos, and we bonded over the track marks being left on the photos, and the high quality. He even gave me pointers on how to fix some parts. If you're ever looking for great old cameras in working condition (yes, they even have ones from the '20s!), go here. You will not be disappointed.

It's great to have a business like this around. Prices seem steep but there's no competition where you can go in and look at used gear. All the items are stored in the back now so you can't see what's in stock. It's been busy when I've been there at the new location so there was no room to walk about. Only open Saturday. Pretty sure it's actually an online store at this point.

Camera Trading Company is Ottawa's only fully used camera store. That is pretty cool and it reflects the dedication of the owners to keep a bricks and mortar destination for fans of older gear open with all that entails. They celebrate used equipment and hand pick everything they sell giving full and honest opinions about the worthiness of every piece. If something is in very sad shape the price reflects that. If something that is in demand comes in and there is high demand for it, they reasonably ask what the market will bear for it. This helps them keep the air conditioner on, and the staff behind the counter. They also sell on eBay where they have a 100% approval rating from their many clients garnered over many years. There are used pieces available from other stores, but I choose to come here first, because this is where the pros come to find buyers for their gear. (I am a working professional photographer). If I want something esoteric, this is the only place I will find it in Ottawa. Leica camera are a good example of this. If you want M series Leica gear, they have it. And they know the history of it. All very worth paying for. And frankly the prices are reasonable and fair. Not to mention the warranty. Which they always fully honour. Having said all that about price, make them an offer if what you want is a little dear. They are nothing if not reasonable.

Love the camera trading company, you can tell immediately that the owners have a long time passion for cameras and love to chat about them and inform you of interesting models for as long as you’d like. Also helps that their pricing is competitive to the market and their stock is always full of beautiful and interesting cameras. (Also a tip to digital mirrorless photographers. This is a GREAT place to pick up lenses to adapt to your modern systems)

You must experience this place if you are into vintage film cameras. They have an amazing collection of, I think pretty much everything you could imagine, when it comes to vintage photography gear. I found my Bronica S2 there, it works beautifully & came in such beautiful condition.

The Camera Trading Company has always been a used camera store specializing in both digital cameras and those of the traditional medium. I have been their client for many years and I will emphasize that they have always been honest businessmen- in that they would not only recommend me equipment to buy, but to realize if it was something that I didn't need. With flexible prices, fantastic stories and a wide selection of equipment (not only cameras, but lighting, tripods and developing gear, for example), this gem of a store can be found in the heart of Ottawa's vibrant Centretown area. If you're considering to buy, sell, trade or simply admire a unique stock, I do advise you drop in for a visit!

I had been on the look out for a good Canon A1 for a while now, and was a bit disheartened after having a bad experience with ebay. I found this place in my research and took a chance on it and I am super glad I did. I could not get over how good of a condition the camera is in. Shoots perfect and looks great. It also came with a very cool retro strap, that I love. 100% will be buying from this shop again. : )

The staff is always courteous, helpful and extremely knowledgeable (and not without a sense of humour). It is always a pleasure to do business with them. They also have an ebay site which has a 100% positive feedback rating. I would recommend you drop by and get to know Ottawa's only specialized used camera store.

This place is a great resource for the film camera lovers in Ottawa. They have a huge selection of vintage film cameras and lenses as well as some digital cameras. They also have some books on photography. The staff have been around for years and are incredibly knowledgeable. This shop is only open on Saturdays.

Mark and Thomas not only maintain a store packed with interesting equipment, they include plenty of technical information and historical background at no extra cost. They also supply interesting anecdotes from their many years of professional practice. All equipment and information is delivered with good humour and genuine interest in the needs of the customer. Over the past two years they have helped me with everything from the unusual (wooden field cameras) to the more commonplace (lens caps). If you are interested in cameras, a visit to this store is a must.
