The Art Shack was my first stop to get a quote for a custom framing job. I was made to feel like the art piece would be well looked after the job would be competently handled, so much so that I didn't bother visiting any other locations to obtain further estimates. I initially felt very comfortable with that decision. However, at about the two week mark, which I was quoted for a completion date, I called in to check in on progress. The woman who answered eventually explained that it would be a few days and I would be called when completed. I was given a strong, if polite, "Don't call us, we'll call you"vibe, that I did not really appreciate. I never received that call back. Two weeks later, I visited the location, fearing for anything untoward having happened to the piece. I spoke with the framer who explained that the project had been delayed due a backorder on the frame stock. He apologized for not calling me when the issue was known. Had he done so, I would have been okay with the delay, as I know these things happen and that situation was out of his hands, although, if I had a time pressure, it would have been appreciated to be notified and given alternative options if I could not wait. When I returned later that day to pick up the piece, the staff on hand really didn't do much to help me feel like my concerns were valid, nor that I was valued as a customer. I did eventually receive the piece and, to the framer's credit, it was well framed and looked great. However, given the multiple failed opportunities to alleviate concerns I was having about the progress of the job, I will not bring my business back to this location.
