REVIEWS OF ROBERT PISANO PHOTOGRAPHY IN Kirkland Lake

Sarah Koerner

“A true Renaissance man, Robert is a superb craftsman and rare artist who understands light and design like no other photographer I’ve ever worked with. He’s even invented his own lighting system to take his interior photos to another level. His keen eye, strong esthetic sense, and imaginative responses to the unexpected have earned him the highest respect among his clients and colleagues alike. I’ve seen him work before; Robert doesn’t wait for a “golden moment” that may or may not happen - - instead, he creates the moment. I take immense pride in my own work and want it interpreted and rendered with talent, sensitivity and respect - - that is why I would only trust Robert with that responsibility. Simply stated, Robert Pisano Photography is the very best.” — JeanAnn Hodges, Hodges Custom Homes

One of the best in this profession, Robert created photographs of my project that speak volumes. He is a real artist and provides magazine quality photographs.

During a short discussion for quotes on project photography he was arrogant and degrading. I was shocked at how quickly he became unprofessional just over email.

I found Robert Pisano on Google. We spoke on the phone and he made clear that he normally charges $2,500 a day. I informed him that that was way out of my budget and then I had a small massage studio and that I was looking to have pictures taken for my new website. Robert decided that he could come to my space for no less than $500 and assured me that if I hired him that I would be very happy. He informed me that he would bring the very best camera and that using available light he could make some wonderful pictures for my website. This was a bit more than I had hoped to pay but he seemed so confident and I really wanted excellent shots for my website so I decided to invest in this supposedly top end photographer. Sadly Robert didn't investigate any further or ask me what I was looking for. I reached out and asked him if I could bring anything or prepare in any way and he only suggested that I buy an orchid. Robert arrived at my space and set up his tripod. I showed him the website that I am building which has very clean lines and white background. It's very sharp and bright. As Robert was setting up the first shot he flipped on the fluorescent lights overhead. I tried to let him know that I didn't think the light quality was flattering in the room and that I had other lights that we might be able to utilize, but he declined. He assured me that the fluorescent lights were the way to go and since he's "a professional", I waited patiently to see the results. The results where unimpressive. The lighting looked yellowish-green and dark. I didn't feel like they represented my space well at all. I mentioned while we were there how I was feeling and asked if we could take a different approach. He didn't offer any alternative. He only offered to feed the photos into his old Apple computer and adjust them in iPhoto by clicking the Boost button several times. This resulted in overly saturated or overly contrasted pictures. He cropped these pictures and emailed them to me. He then assured me that by spending more money editing these photos in Photoshop, which he insisted was quite expensive, we could attain even better results. He kept telling me how great the photos were and then promised to send me all of the raw files from the photoshoot. Reluctantly, I paid him and we parted ways. A couple of days later after quite a bit of thought I contacted him and let him know that I felt that the pictures were not up to caliber and that I felt that my money had not been well spent as he had promised that it would be. I asked him if he had any solutions that he felt might be fair. I made it clear that I felt that he had made unwise choices with the lighting. He simply insisted that "I received more than my budget had allowed" and "the photos are good. You should use them." He offered to give me $100 off. I clearly stated that I felt I could use none of these photos for my website. I offered to meet him in the middle. He then told me that he did not want to make this a circular discussion. In other words he didn't want to have a conversation about this anymore. He has my money and is going to keep it. WHAT I GOT After this whole fiasco I paid him $400 and received 7 poorly edited photos via email. He has since stopped responding to me and never sent me the raw photos as promised. I'll post the photos so you can see. In my opinion Robert Pisano has a huge ego and very poor people skills when dealing with conflict. He seems much more concerned about the value of his time then the quality of his work or the satisfaction of his customers. I can't tell you how many times he reffered to my 'budget' or how many times I told him was unhappy. He can take these seven dark totally unprofessional photos and do whatever he wants with them. I can't possibly use them. I wish I hadn't spent all of my money hiring Robert Pisano. Now I have no money left to hire a real photographer.

As a marketer (now retired), I retained Robert multiple times to photograph high-end commercial space. Robert is an accomplished professional, who relies on lighting and technique to create architectural drama. The rich dense palette of color he achieves creates a visual ambiance that is both warm and sophisticated, and shows off the space to its best advantage.

I hired Robert for an extensive 30 day shoot covering hotel properties on the entire west coast. It was logistically tough and physically demanding. Robert’s professionalism shined when obstacles were placed between him and the task at hand. He proved himself to be a great creative mind as well as a sharp wit. The end result was a fantastic corporate portfolio of images. The shot list included; exteriors, room interiors, banquet halls and a couple of unexpected requests. Every shot was beautiful. I highly recommend Robert for any assignment.

As owner of TerraCom Marketing Communications, I sought out Robert Pisano years ago because of his fine reputation. From the beginning, he impressed me with his ability to paint with light, creating visually inviting, yet realistic photos of whatever he's hired to do. He has a standard of excellence that is rare - choosing to do it right the first time, rather than fixing it in photo shop. It's the difference between being a master photographer and being a good technician.
