As you know, we don't usually bother to put evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Photo Studio corresponds to the category of Passport photo processor.
The auto-focus function on my camera was not working. I brought my camera in for a repair. The gentleman behind the camera fixed the problem in about 30 seconds. He was very knowledgeable about the camera and knew exactly where to look in the menu settings to reset the focus function. He did not charge me anything. So grateful that it is fixed and I did not have to leave my camera for the repair!
Their claim that they will make passport photos to the national specs for all countries is complete horsesh*t! In fact, they will not even make so much as an effort to hand you anything other than photos to Canadian passport specs. Be extremely wary when they want to collect the money to complete the transaction BEFORE handing you the finished photos. I have to rate with at least one star, but do this only because the system requires it... (two thumbs down in real life!)
People at the Canada Camera studio are very nice and helpful . They re-clicked my photo for the free of cost when earlier picture was not uploading on US VISA form due to picture specification constraint . Staff's kind gesture and effort is really appreciated .
I brought in my Nikon DSLR camera for cleaning. There was dust in the sensor that had been there for quite some time, that I and others tried unsuccessfully to clean. I popped into the store hoping they could clean the camera and return it to me by the end of the week, as I was leaving Ottawa to return home, where camera cleaning services are not available. Kishor had my camera spotless and ready for pickup within 4 hours! Thank you so much Kishor, I am very excited to use my camera again!
Very friendly. Made sure my photos were exactly as required. Seems to be the go to person for camera repairs as well! Great sense of humour and speedy service!
Made multiple purchases through COVID and their customer service and support was great. Very pleased with my new camera and will buy again from them. Thanks!
Quick, courteous and professional service. These guys will give you good advice for any issue with your gear, and make repairs if appropriate! For me, it’s the first place to go in the Ottawa area when I can’t find a solution to a technical problem and/or don’t want to part with a piece of equipment for weeks ⏤ possibly months! ⏤ by sending it to corporate customer support.
Raj worked over time to make sure my camera was repaired before I left town. Thank you so much! Would recommend to anyone.
Been dealing with these folks since 2014 when I purchased my first Canon gear. Service is outstanding. Recently needed a new battery. Loved the communication, smoothness, followup and how quickly it arrived during covid lockdown. THANKS Guys. Best J
Totally amazing! My lens refused to attach, and I was in a time crunch to get it fixed for an event and the technician fixed it in seconds! Friendly and excellent customer service. This is my new go-to camera hospital! Way better than having to go to Best Buy which once took 4 months to fix my camera! Save yourself the trouble, go to Canadian Camera!
Excellent service. I went in to get my passport photos done and the photographer was patient with me and took as many pictures as I requested until I was happy with one. Definitely different than all my previous passport photo experiences where it's one and done.
I come from Halifax. I came Ottawa for applying the France traveling Visa. The uber driver helped me to find this store as for getting the photos for visa. The person who is working here is so friendly and professional, and also give me some suggestions about the lens choice of my camera. Highly recommended to people if they want to figure out the lens or visa photo taking. Good location because the store is in downtown Ottawa, and it is easy to find!
So lovely! We had to make an emergency trip to Canada for a visa, and they were absolutely wonderful when we stopped here for the photos required. Thank you so much!
Very good place to take a photo for PR or anything else. They went above and beyond to make sure my picture was to the standard.
Three years ago, I dropped my camera, breaking my 50mm. Canadian Camera fixed it for a fraction of the price that I would have had to pay Canon. I expected the repaired lens to be very fragile, but it's still going strong (and the repairman did an excellent job of adjusting the focus—it's spot-on). The people working at the store were extremely personable and eager to help. Knowledgeable, meticulous, and fairly priced service. Thank you! :)
Useless..waited 45mins for them to open and they never showed up..
I went in to this shop on a Saturday and got my passport photo taken, bought some other stuff, got a print made and had them look at a zoom lens that had stopped working. I have to say that I got excellent service and the staff were very helpful. They were able to give me an estimate to fix my lens while I was having my passport pics taken. I will definitely come back and really appreciate these guys being open on a Saturday. It made it real easy to do business with them. Thanks!
Recently brought my lens in for repair and I was impressed with the speed of the repair and how meticulous they were with ensuring everything on the camera was working correctly. Would highly recommend.
Thank you so so much Raj. You repaired my camera that was damaged with a little magic and didn’t even charge me. This is a good man who offers quality camera repair services and I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you and Merry Christmas ???? ????????
Can't say enough great things about Camera Canada. Great service, advice and pricing. Would highly recommend them for your next camera gear purchase!
Very helpful and friendly owner, he also provides full services (including photo sizing and scanning) for Ontario permanent residency 2017 photo package without much waiting. Walking away with a peace of mind, I'm very happy to get the service here!
Amazing service!!! Manager cleaned up both lenses and DSL mirror, refused to accept money, gave me advice re. my next possible options for camera upgrade. Very pleasant and professional approach! I sincerely appreciated help as my Nikon camera is again on the go now. It was third place where I finally received professional assistance. For example in Henry's they were trying to convince me that image is "perfectly sharp", while there was no sharpness left because mirror had to be cleaned and lens adjusted, what was done by Ravi in Canadian Camera! Thank you, Ravi!!!! All the best in your little but very people friendly business!:)
These guys are friendly, knowledgeable and generous. Brought my old camera in the gentleman looked it over, contacted Nikon and gave me a workaround for my issue. Did not want my money. They love what they do and they are the best at it. Thank you so much. Christian
Came in for a quote on a lens that was acting up and they quickly diagnosed the problem and told whether it was worth fixing. Very happy with their professionalism and service. Definitely will be back and 100% would recommend.
Although the owners are charming, this place is expensive (very expensive) and the service is not as fast as one would expect from the place. Also, it has an established feel, I mean old cameras and such and I liked that.
Came in with a dropped lens and camera. I knew the lens was broken but the camera seemed to be working properly and I wanted to get it checked over to confirm. They looked at it thoroughly, tightened screws, etc. - and then didn't charge me for their time. Definitely recommend!
I had a nice experience and interaction with the store manager. Great service, thank you.
Got passport photo. Quick smooth service. Manager was pleasant and chatty making a nice shopping experience.
I went in to Canadian Camera to fix my old Minolta 35mm. The service was amazing. Kishor showed me exactly what was wrong with my camera, and even showed me what I needed to do in the future. He was super friendly and helpful. Would totally recommend going here for all of your camera repair needs!
very professional and helped me to take a perfect picture for my passport. They were very kind and friendly, and knowledgeable about the area! thanks so much!
Excellent customer service, they had my lens fixed in one hour. Highly recommend.
Took a passport photo here. The lighting was terrible, my skin was dead blue color, every line on my face visible, dark circles around my eyes and glare on my lipstick. Awful. Right after I went to Sooters and got an amazing picture taken on the first try. I can't comment on other services, but DO NOT TAKE PASSPORT PHOTOS HERE.
These guys are friendly and helpful. I have had them do work on my camera, was very pleased with the work...
Just absolute awesome and professional service. Fast, efficient and very pleasant to deal with and very fair in the pricing. I had stated to them that I needed this unit asap ...it was ready the next day, with options , like I said awesome ... I will see you again with my other camera Marty Leclerc photography ...
I went there to take a digital passport photo and their service was top notch. The staff I met was very pleasant and helpful. Overall, good service
Thanks KK. Great picture for passport, Quick service and good price.
Took my D7000 in because it wouldn't focus properly and he had a resolution within 10 minutes at no cost. Thank you so much!
I have been a customer of Canada Cameras for over 8 years, and any time I go there, the service is impeccable. These gentlemen are the most professional bunch I have met. They are courteous, they are friendly and very respectful as well. I was there this morning to take some pictures for business, and the service was as good as it gets.
Brought in my Mintolta x700 after the film advance lever jammed. Not only did they repair the camera to working condition, but replaced two capacitors that could potentially cause further issues in the future AND they cleaned and lubricated it as well. These guys are professionals and I would never hesitate to bring my gear to them in the future. More than reasonable pricing for the specialty work they do.
My Canon 100-400 L zoom lens had picked up a problem in the barrel. They had it diagnosed and fixed in under a week, within the quotation originally given to me. I have since tested the lens on several trips and it is back to its flawless best. I also popped in for them to have a look at my back-up camera, an Olympus E-P5. The shutter button was lost and I was provided with some great options to fix it. The cheapest one would be for me to get a third party part but they even offered to help me do the replacement free of charge because it was a simple job! Absolutely great people. Interestingly, one of the major electronic dealers in Ottawa recommended them to me! Just great, honest service. They now have a customer for life in me.
What a legend! The technician was able to clean a tough stain on my Sony a7r IV sensor! Absolutely made my day. Strongly recommend the service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very friendly man and does photos fast for a reasonable price. Also knew the requirements of my other (non-passport) photo straight away. Would definitely recommend to anyone! :)
I went in because my lens wasn't working and I wanted to know if the problem was alone my lens or also my body. Ravi checked out the body with his own lens and it was working fine. Ravi then went above and beyond, I'm new to photography and wanted to get a replacement upgrade lens as mine was basic and wasn't working properly anymore. Ravi recommended a lens for me to which I went and purchased and when I came back with it he did a detailed check of the camera and gave me some feedback. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place if you have any problems with your camera. I even bought good value case from here for good measure.
Fast and knowledgeable. Street parking available and they were really good with my kids even though I was in a rush.
I went there to ask to clean my Canon, he told me that the price is 169$ because he will not only have to clean the sensor, but also to open it to clean something else... I asked him the price only for the sensor and he said 129$. This take only a few minutes... I went to another store, they asked me 45$ for the exact same thing and this other place did a great job.
My documentary crew is in Ottawa shooting and the spreader for our tripod broke. Raj and the rest of the team at Canadian Camera were extremely helpful and welcoming. Our spreader broke in such a way that we would have had to order a new one but after some trouble shooting they were able to fix it for us in a creative way - so that we would be able to use our tripod for our shoot today. If you want excellent customer service with people who know cameras I would recommend Canadian Camera.
I have taken portrait photo for government ID here a month ago. In the photo, my shoulder on the left was 5 mm longer than my shoulder on the right side, the photographer told me it would not be an issue since the government will cropped out the shoulder part and only keep areas around my head. I insisted to him that I am simu following the guideline on the government's website, which states: shoulders must be centered in the photo. He dismissed by stating "I have been doing this for 15 years and never had any issue doing it, this happen to other customers and they never have problems with it. He then got defensive and angry at me as I pointed out the photos do not comply with the government's guidelines. I told him that I am not trying to argue with him and I am simply following the government's rules and I don't mind spending a bit more if he can make sure my photo complies with the rules. He replied "I don't care since it is your money, you can spend as much as you want", Note I already paid 40 dollars for 4 copies of portrait photo at this point. I sincerely do not understand why the photographer is so angry and defensive when I am simply showing him where's his picture do not comply with the rules on government of Canada's website. A month later, it turned out that my photo was not acceptable and I have to take the photos elsewhere again. This has been a huge waste of time and money, I will never do business at this place again and I would not recommend any other people to take government id picture here. What could been simply resolved in 10 minutes has turned into an strenuous and costly event for me, all for nothing but the ego of the photographer.
Very professional and quick. I needed my sensor cleaned and Ravi did an excellent job for a fair price.
Nice folks, friendly service and great work
An excellent place to have passport and other official photos done. I had two passport photos made that turned out very well and was charged $17. The service is very fast, reasonably priced, and the store is centrally located downtown. The owner also repairs cameras and has an interesting assortment of vintage cameras on display. If you need photos for an official purpose, stop in here!
Went to take a passport photo and asked around a few question. I received really great service. They are super knowledgeable and nice. Definetly recommended.
Highly recommended. Great service. One of the few places in town that can repair old Kodak slide projectors. Quick turn-around, friendly service, and reasonable price.
I came in and request a baby picture for her passport. Raj help out and assist with everything, from chair setup, her position and how to hold my baby properly for picture taking. did my spouse Malaysia picture there as well for her new passport 4 years ago, Malaysia embassy were happy, since colour is everything. Recommend Canadian Camera @ 250 Albert, no regret and always professional.
Very professional photographers.. My go to store for all my pics. Worth every penny.
When I had problems with a Sigma telephoto lens, I went to Canadian Camera, and received excellent service and advice. When I had a problem with my Nikon, I went to Canadian Camera, and again they quickly diagnosed the problem, and provided excellent service and sound advice. They know what they are doing; I found them trustworthy and straight forward. I have no hesitation in recommending them for any camera related difficulties.
I brought Ravi a 50mm f1.4 Takumar which had been dropped by an incompetent technician attempting a previous repair which was unsuccessful. Ravi removed the dent damage, dissassembled the lens and replaced a loose screw I had noticed inside the barrel. The lens functions perfectly now. I recommend Ravi highly for his skills.
Nice easy to use website. Offing everything for photographers. Quick response to emailed questions.
I had a Hoya polarizing filter stuck on a Nikon 50mm 1.4G and no matter what I did I could not get the filter off the lens. I visited other camera stores in the Ottawa area, no one could help me. The circular filter just wouldn't loosen and I was about ready to give up. I visited Canadian Camera after hearing good things from a friend, and I could not have been more pleased with the service I received. Ravi is a very skilled technician and was able to fix my problem in 5 minutes. No wait, no problems, quick and competent service from an intelligent and experienced technician. It's a great business.
Canon 70D was not recognizing memory card. Multiple places told me board was burnt or that i needed to ship it to canon which would have cost me $$$. Called up Canadian Camera the man on the line asked me to bring it in for him to look at it.... 5 min later it was fixed ( Some of the pin's in the card reader were misaligned). Since it did not require a part change..he did not charge me :O Incredible service and super nice = 5 star review !
I brought two DSLR cameras into the shop for an out of town friend after being referred to them by Henry's in Kanata. It seemed within seconds, the problems with both were diagnosed. We appreciated the honesty of the gentleman at the counter when he recognized the problem with one and told me that it would cost more the fix this "older" camera than it would to buy a new up to date and better camera these days. The other one turned out to be a very simple problem with he fixed in all of 15 seconds. Done. i recommend this shop highly for their ability to diagnose and honesty as to the cost of repair.
Really good service, professional and very nice friendly people. Will always come here in future. Thanks.
I really like this store. They treated me very well and even opened early for me. I was out of there quickly and my pictures were done very well.
I have brought my film camera into Canadian Camera several times over the past 10 years and Kishor has never failed to solve whatever mechanical problems have presented themselves. So valuable to have reliable technicians in Ottawa!
I brought in my sony alpha r2 camera yesterday with some really big dots on my sensor and no big hopes that they could be removed. But what a wonder! I got back my camera today with a completely clean sensor, as new! I can only say it is an absolutely perfect service you will get there if you have any problems with your camera! Thank you very much!
Recently brought in my old 35mm camera which had a number of different issues.. shutter jamming, film advance was jamming/stuck and some issues involving the flash.. Overall super happy with the outcome! Left the camera for a couple days for service/adjustments and already got it back in my hands and it's working perfect! Thank you so much Ravi! Amazing service, highly recommend!
Drove out of my way to come here, on a recommendation from a friend. 10/10 worth it, amazing customer service, great location and fantastic prices! The owner was super helpful, friendly and got me on my way promptly with everything that I needed. Can't recommend this place enough!
My mom urgently needed a new photo for a visa. She was impressed with the service at Canadian Camera. The staff there was professional, meticulous, and patient. The manager ensured that all requirements for the pictures were respected accordingly. He even took several pictures in order to get the best one. She definitely recommends that location and will go there again!
The best part about dropping your super-zoom and busting the shutter right in the middle of spring bird migration? Having Ravi The Wizard magically make everything fine again! I walked in and Ravi worked his immediate magic and I was back in the field in a flash. Don’t hesitate to come to this amazing shop, you won’t find customer service or expertise like this anywhere on the planet!!!!!!! A+++ GOLD STAR
I got my cameras sensor cleaned, only place I could find in downtown Ottawa area that can do this. came in just before closing and they had it done early next morning. great work would recommend for cleaning.
Many many Thank to Raj He help me with my passport pictures. And also I took a wrong picture by accident and he also take me a new one with out costs. This place is helpful. I appreciate there help.
I regularly use Canadian Camera for passport and visa pictures; they have always been helpful. Recently a photo for the new Irish online passport application did not work. No problem for Canadian Camera - happy to redo for free - and to master the new rules for that type of application.
I have nothing but good things to say about this store. Received friendly and honest service when having my vintage pentax camera restored. Would definetly recommend to anyone and will be back for film in the new year.
My Nikon D800E encountered a lens stuck and couldn't move from the body. I went to Canadian Camera for the first time due to the very good online review. The gentleman was very nice and quickly addressed the problem: I accidentally turned the lens the wrong way and damaged something on the camera body and the lens. He handed the camera to the technician and only after few minutes, the technician came back with a separated body and the lens, Wow! I was told that the whole socket on the camera body need to be replaced and would cost about $400. But after a couple of minute, the technician said that he can try to fix it without replacing the part, and he did it successfully in just a few minutes! I was so happy and grateful. Then the first gentleman told me that the ring on the lens was broken and need to be replaced. He also suggested that the sensor need to be cleaned due to metal dust after the damage. I wasn't feel to do the sensor cleaning at the moment. But I really want to show my thanks so why just give them a business? I asked him how much for both and he said that he is going to call me to give me the price. Then I asked the price few times and was told that about 140 for cleaning and 70 for replacing the lens rear ring. But for total charge, he insisted to give me a call. The next morning when I was out, my wife received a call from the store and was told the camera was ready to pickup. When my wife asked the cost, she was told that her husband (me) know the cost. I went there same day afternoon and was told sensor cleaned and lens rear ring replaced by the same gentlemen. I was very surprised that he never told me the total charge until he handed the POS machine to me. When I took over the machine and inserted my credit card, I realized that they were charging me $336.74, higher than I expected. To be honest, even I was not comfortable, I paid the full amount right away without hesitation just hope that as long as they did the good job with cleaning and lens repair. Back to home, I started to check the camera. First to see the replaced lens rear ring but found no new ring replaced! Second look at the mirror, and It was dirty, full of dust! Then put on my regular lens, pointing to the clear sky, zoom in, focus to infinity to blur out anything in the viewfinder and shoot with normal setting. Then I loaded the image into lightroom and checked, and then I was shocked: there were so many dusts, black spots and strips all over the image! Next day I called and then went there. The same gentleman greeted me. This time he started to explain how he charged me. He also said that the pin on the rear ring of the lens was replaced , not the ring. He insisted that he told me before and I insisted that he didn't. He also offered me to clean the sensor again free of charge. I said that for the sensor cleaning, however, I am not trusting you any more. I also said that I appreciated the repair work and willing to pay reasonable charge for the repairs. Eventually, I was given the full refund on sensor cleaning job. (about half of the total charge) I do feel necessary to write a review based on the facts. I hope this review could remind the owner, the store staffs and the customers that even this store has done lots of good jobs, have very good reviews in the past and great in many aspects of the business, especially the excellent skills and experience in camera repairs, the shop owner or the staffs should treat each and every customer respectfully and be honest to the customer, especially for the estimate or pricing. I would have given 2 star but instead, I am giving 3 stars because I was given a partial refund as a satisfied resolution on the issue. Now, a week later, I still couldn't find any pin on the lens rear, which I was told was broken and replaced with a new one. So I still optical what repare work was done on the lens. The job I appreciated was quick separation of the lens and repair on the body, which was done in few minutes by the Chinese looking technician.
Very friendly and helpful! Customer service is clearly a top priority for these guys. Highly recommended.
Raj saved the day!!!! I am a musician and traveled 1800 miles by vehicle to Ottawa where my husband and I are performing in Bluesfest. After arriving I was shocked to find my camera ( canon 6D ) wasn’t triggering anymore and sent out a few emails to camera ships within walking distance of our hotel. Raj was not only the first one to write back but the only one aaaaand his shop was recommended by the hotel. ANYWAY I brought the camera in and guys it really seemed like a hopeless case of water damage ( no clue... condensation? ) and Raj said he would do his very best even though they were closed the next day. I got an email the next morning saying to come in and wouldn’t you know Raj came in on his day off and completely fixed AND CLEANED my camera. I couldn’t be more pleased and grateful and I so recommend this shop to EVERYONE. Such good people that seem to genuinely care about their customers. THANK YOU RAAAAAAAJ!!!!!!!! Oh yea!!! He also kept everything in my set budget too which was just going the extra mile for a stressed out Texas girl who would probably have paid gouged prices at that point but they treated me with integrity and respect and it was so appreciated.
I came to get my camera cleaned. The clerk spoke to me in a condescending manner and suggested I had more camera than my ability. While adjusting my lens he shook it and broke it and insisted that I broke it before I gave it to him. This is my second time going to this store and both times I left feeling belittled, unsatisfied and sad. Whatever my ability, his service was unsatisfactory and I will never recommend them to anyone.
I had a great time there. The staff was wonderful and helped with everything I needed and more. Raj was probably one of the better people I had the pleasure of talking to about my DSLR and photography.
This is my first ever review of a business, so you know I'm impressed. Professional, knowledgeable, and very good prices. I took my camera in with a fairly significant motor issue, and had it out the door again the same morning - fixed and working like new. We will most definitely be referring our friends and family.
These guys are amazing. I have been using years. Always super friendly and get things done quickly. Could not recommend a better place to get photographs taken
Our Canon camera was making a squeaking sound when zooming. Canon Canada service center wanted $150 plus shipping costs just to have a look at the camera. The Canadian Camera technician quickly diagnosed the problem for free! He advised us that parts were no longer available and that cleaning the mechanism would be a waste of our money. He suggested that we continue using the camera as is and to replace it once it died. We appreciate the honesty and professionalism of this establishment and would not look anywhere else when we buy our new camera. Thank you.
