Brandon truly wants to see those around him succeed - and that is what makes him such a pleasure to work with. Whether it be helping his clients best achieve their goals through photography, working with stylists, or developing assistants that feel confident and valued in their role on set - Brandon leads his team in a collaborative style. I’ve spent the last year and a bit working as an assistant on Brandon’s team, and I can say that the confidence and experience I have gained through this role has helped me grow immensely as a commercial photographer. He has helped guide me through navigating pricing, client interactions, putting together RFPs, and other aspects of the industry that can be difficult and costly to learn on your own.
Brandon is extremely generous with the knowledge that he shares and provides a space in which assistants feel safe to grow and learn. I have never felt intimidated to ask a question, for clarification, or to just talk about what is happening on set. Working with Brandon has exposed me to many different types of photography equipment and lighting set ups, some of which I’ve been able to modify and incorporate into my own workflow. Being able to talk about these things and listen to Brandon’s recommendations for my own work has been such an asset. I leave conversations with him feeling inspired and excited about photography. This positive environment that Brandon creates within his team is so beneficial, especially when the days on set are long.
I attribute a lot of the growth I have experienced this year to lessons I’ve learned while working with Brandon. He has set an example for me as a photographer and a business owner, and helped me develop practices and systems to create a career in the industry that is both enjoyable and sustainable. If you’re looking to do the same, I can’t recommend a better person to learn from.
