Over the years I've purchased several cameras, lenses and studio lights and modifiers and Beau Photo has come across with 5 star service every time. They recently did an in-house repair on a Profoto strobe at no charge and shipped it to me within 24 hours. My experiences have always been positive. They know their stuff, get things done efficiently (often going the extra mile), and I'm back to work with no hassles.

Here is an excerpt from my review of the x-10 I just purchased… I went to Mike Mander, the head of the digital department of Beau Photo in Vancouver, and spoke to him about my need for something with more going for it than my phone camera. Mike told me about the Fuji X10, which he described as “The baby brother to the Fuji X100,” but with much better macro capabilities and the capacity to use the raw format. (Mike hasn’t lead me astray with any of his advice or suggestions in the past and it’s one of the reasons why my first stop is usually Beau Photo.)

If you're looking for analog film, cameras or other equipment photography related this shop has all the products. Came here several times to purchase negative film and there was always a surplus to choose from, even some rare Kodak film! Prices can get expensive as some products are discontinued or hard to find, but helpful staff are always aware of budget and recommend the best for you; student discounts as well!

I've been going here for over 5 years and going there this week prompted my decision to write the following. In general, Beau Photo can be described thus: + Great selection of equipment, both new and used + Extremely knowledgeable staff + Convenient location But: - Excruciatingly poor customer service sometimes (with the exception of Barb) e.g. I have been ignored, talked over, sighed at and abruptly corrected at various times over the last five years. I have also seen staff members engage in open disagreements with each other, leaving a very uncomfortable atmosphere. In a time where stores are facing an uphill struggle against on-line shopping the ONLY benefit of going to a physical store is the ability to talk to someone face-to-face and be reminded of why we should continue to shop in an actual store. Shopping at Beau Photo, however, will make you wish you'd stayed at home.

I urgently needed a strobe light and because Kelowna has virtually no retail outlets that sell professional equipment, I reached out to Beau Photo in Vancouver and they were able to take my order over the phone and send it out immediately so i could get it the next day. As importantly, they responded quickly to my email questions. I have now purchased two Profoto strobes from them as they are more reliable and carry a better availablle inventory than other dealers, such as Vistek, Henrys, et al.

Okay - not fancy- however selection and information is outstanding. This place is not for tire kickers.And if you want fast food service probably not for you. This is the old time sit and chat by the fire, no rush genuine take the time to smell the roses place. I make sure I am never in a rush. If you really want to enjoy the experience- leave the cell phone in the car. If you pay a dollar more you will find it is more than worth the dime or two. Everything you ever wanted and more. I rate them as a 6 out of 5. I have been going to Beau Photo for over 25.00 years, and now my son secon generation photographer is going there as well.

Ken and the crew make up a great rental team. Photo film department very helpful for a digital guy learning film. Very old school company that has one of the best PRO inventory in the Vancouver area. As the industry's in store selection declines with the Internet they stay consistent with a good selection of inventory. I travel from the North Shore because there is nothing like this here. The only criticism is I wish they were open on weekends for weekend warriors like myself.

Easy to find everything from rentals to sale. All of the staff are pros or have sufficient info to help you with your gear. I’ve been working with them since last year for my projects. The upside is they have a quick access loading to load/unload heavy equpments.

Upon bringing it home, I opened up the box to find the glass was shattered. (Lesson to all - check your gear before you leave a store.) Beau kindly replaced it with no problem. I also found an amazing Canon 100mm macro lens I’d been eyeing, in the used lens section. I am the in-house videographer at the Vancouver Aquarium, and during a shoot we ran into problems with sensor dust on our Nikon D800, and never having the issue before, I wasn't comfortable tackling it myself. Even though sensor cleaning isn't a service that Beau normally provides, Mike took the time to work with me and get the sensor back in shooting condition in just a few minutes flat.
