The owner, Dave, stayed open late to accommodate our group. Super friendly and accommodating. The costumes and digital picture were great, but I think you have to do the wet plate tin type photo. That’s the only way to get the super authentic antique photo. Really makes the past come to life!

My friend and I decided to stop here while we were in Gettysburg on a road trip, and the photographer, and I’m assuming owner, was incredibly nice! I prefer wearing more masculine clothing and was nervous to ask, but once I did he was incredibly helpful in finding me a costume that made me feel more comfortable. While we waited for my friend to change into her dress, he told me lots of interesting facts about the fashion of the time period. He also told us the step by step process of wet plating and was over all really helpful. I sincerely enjoyed my experience here, and cannot wait to come back and take more photos!

Such a cool place to visit and the staff are awesome! My friend and I got the wet plate done. We were even able to take a video of it as it was developing. I loved being able to dress in period clothing. So much better than those "old time" photography studios you see at amusement parks. This is the real thing & very reasonably priced!

As a photographer myself, I was very happy with the experience. The staff were very professional and the studio had loads of costumes to chose from. The price and finished product were a great value, my grandchildren had a wonderful time and looked great. If you are looking for a period photography experience this is the place to go, we had this done at another studio a few years ago and there was no comparison to the Victorian Photography Studio. Go you will love it.

They were both very open, answered any questions we had, and made the experience memorable. On top of that the photo turned out wonderfully. The service was amazing and the guy was beyond kind. My friend (who is non-binary and more comfortable in masculine clothing) was a bit nervous to ask if they could dress in men's clothing instead of a dress (women's clothing) but when they did ask he said "yes of course!" And helped them out. He explained the process for the photo and let us record. Just a overall great experience.

I was a little nervous bringing my toddler here but the photographers were great with him and we managed to get a great photo. The whole experience was a lot less painful then I thought it would be and they do some really cool ghost photographs that I have never seen before and might have to get done in the future. If you come here, plan to park at the Dobbin House parking lot since there is no parking at the shop.

This place is a true gem, as are the owners who accommodated us so well during our visit. This is something you absolutely positively must do if you are ever in Gettysburg. In order for a tourist to achieve the full Gettysburg experience, this is something you should definitely check out. The experience here is as authentic as you can get to having your photo taken during the times of the civil war thanks to the owners who work so hard to make it that way. The place is clean, the prices are great, the customer service is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is calm, relaxed, and happy. My husband and I called ahead to make an appointment (a wise idea). They said for women to wear something like a cami underneath their shirt, and not to wear blush or lipstick unless I wanted them to turn out black on the tin type photo we were having done. When we arrived they dressed us (they have a massive collection to sift through), did my hair, and took our photograph. They explained each and every step and chemical they used to us. They gave us a little history lesson, talked about the camera used, made sure to let us know each and every step before it happened, and let us have our cell phones out. I’m beyond pleased with this place, and these owners. We walked in as strangers, and walked out feeling like we truly knew them. They were so sweet, down-to-earth, and treated us like friends. They couldn’t have possibly made our trip more pleasurable. We will definitely be going back. They also have Instagram: @vps_gettysburg THEIR PAGE IS GREAT!

My wife and I had a wet plate photo done with an original 1860's camera today it was better than anticipated and well worth the price. The choice of costume was better than any other in town and the photographer and his helper couldn't be nicer. We definitely will be back and this is a must do when in Gettysburg.

This was such a fun and interesting experience! One of the highlights of our trip. Do not waste your money on JUST the digital! Splurge on the wet plate(and digital too if ya want) and you will not be disappointed. It was a great souvenirs to bring home from Gettysburg and I highly recommend it to anyone from singles to couples, families or groups.

We come here every year with a tour group and they do a wonderful job! They process our group of 90 in 9 groups of 10 and have each group move through in 20 minutes or less. I am always amazed with how well they do and how sweet they are. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Fantastic experience at VPS! I got a tintype of me and my son and they were kind enough to give us some free cellphone shots too. The dressing process was so easy (they do everything!) and I loved the result. Can't wait to go back when my son can even better hold still for 12 seconds.

Amazing product and customer service. My girlfriend and I came to this establishment on June 27, 2018. I have to say, I have not received this high of a level of customer service in a long time. The staff was so attentive, and even though it was a busy day for them, the level of personal attention to us and our experience was unparalleled. My girlfriend was outfitted in a beautiful blue hoop skirt, and had all the assistance needed putting it on. She also was assisted in putting her hair up and into a bonnet. And the staff was so friendly!! I highly recommend Victorian Photography Studio.

My sister Pam and I made an appointment to have a portrait done. We both wanted to be working on our crafts in the portrait. Pam does quilting and I do crochet. Pat was very excited about that and was helpful getting us ready. She also dropped some history on the clothing she was dressing us in for the portrait. We had a wet plate photo (tin type) - we were so well received....they dressed us, did our hair, all down to the last details (flowers in my daughter's hair, clip on earrings, necklaces...) Before the photo was taken, they even took the time to explain the entire process. What chemicals they used, how they prepared the piece of tin, why people don't usually smile in Victorian photographs, etc....this was an AMAZING experience! The photograph is authentic looking, everyone so friendly and accommodating...I would recommend it to everyone!

My family and I had some out of town visitors and this was the first place we took them when they got in town. We have numerous pictures from VPS and they do not disappoint. We have been going to them for years but the other day may have topped all our previous picture days. We spent 3 of the best most fun filled hours we have had in a long time. Dave and Ashley ran around like crazy getting all of us dress and decked out. I dont even know how many pictures we took but they were all wonderful and a work of art.
