Charlie's Studio has been around Richmond for many many years. We have decided to take our family pictures with them in this beautiful Cherry Blossom season. The pictures turned out AMAZING!! Every single one of them were just beautiful, they are so professional, the photographer knows exactly how to capture beautiful moments. Highly recommend ????????????????

A friend was looking for a wedding dress, so we booked an appointment. Traffic was horrible so they kindly moved our appointment half an hour later, which was very nice. We got in and were greeted by a younger sales girl, who was very pleasant and helpful (to the best of her ability, as she was clearly new) throughout the entire experience. 10min into the appointment, a friendly and profession pregnant lady came and gave some assistance and direction. When she left, in came the 3rd sales lady, who was by far the most terrible, rude, and condescending salesperson I have ever met in my entire life. First of all, she wouldn't stop talking. She never listened to us, but just kept rambling on and on, always had something to say about everything. The very first comment she made was that my friend looked fat in the previous dress, and insisted that this other one she recommended looked better and more slimming on her, even though we clearly did not like it at all and liked the previous one better. She proceeded to lecture us on how important it is to pick the right fabric, and for non-skinny brides we should go for a more structured look for my friend, or else it will make her look fat. She pulled out a dress, and as I commented that this silhouette looks good on my friend, the sale lady said, "No the style doesn't look good on her, it's the fabric that is making her look good and slimming, and chubbier brides need to go for this type of fabric." Just so we are clear, my girlfriend is not skinny as a stick, but she is NOT fat - she's like a size 4. I was about to rip that sales lady's face off, but my girlfriend is very mild-natured, and her mom was there too, so I didn't want to make it awkward and was boiling inside. Then I asked my friend if she liked this one better or a similar one she tried on at another bridal store, she said she doesn't remember what that one looked like. So I got my phone and showed her the picture we took, and the sales lady yelled out, "No pictures!" I gave her a death stare and coldly said, "We are looking at pictures." She didn't respond. No apology, no nothing. Before we were about to leave, she wouldn't let my friend's mom try on a dress that we were told she could, and said because it's too small for her, and if she wants one it'd have to be ordered in because of her size - basically calling my friend's mom fat. Just so we are clear - my friend's mom is NOT fat. She's maybe a size 6 or 8 tops. So I would like to correct my beginning statement. She was not only the most horrible salesperson I have ever met in my life, but also possibly one of the worst human beings I've came across. How did she get the job I will never know. If you like to be humiliated and be called fat and chubby when you are really just regular-sized, visit this studio and try on their dresses. You won't be disappointed.

I chooses this place for my pre wedding pictures. They did very great job. The guys took picture for us he has very well aligned a bright image. The photos are so perfect even without touch -up. Highly recommended for u guys. Love this place so much

In March 2021 we did our outdoor pre-wedding and June wedding day photography with Charlie's Studio. The photographers Richard and Sean were very professional and experienced, they taught us how to pose and snapped photos at our best angles. Ivy was also very sweet and understanding, she was attentive to details and offered some great advices whenever we went for dress fittings and photo selections. I would highly recommend their photography packages as they offer great services, high quality results, and a wide range of beautiful dresses for the ladies!!

We've had the pleasure of working with Ivy, Richard, and their amazing team for our pre-wedding photos and family portraits. As we are from out of town, the CS team has been incredibly flexible and accommodating to us in terms of dates (even delaying the photoshoot by a day due to rainy weather) from beginning to end. They also have a large selection of stunning wedding gowns and evening gowns, and even tuxedos to accommodate tall individuals. We had a wonderful experience during the photoshoot and would not have traded it for anything else! Thank you to the CS team for your attention to detail, professionalism, and patience!

Went there for a wedding shoot. When I walked in the sales lady said they will be able to provide me whatever the style I wanted and they will have a consultation with me to make sure of it. As soon as I made my deposit, the consultation no longer existed. I went back to discuss what I wanted she just turned me away ensuring me it'd be no problem. Later on I discovered there would be no point to discuss with her anyways as u don't even know who your stylist will be until the day of. The day of my wedding photoshoot, photographer was late, no biggy I got over that. When I sat down at the makeup table, the makeup artist just assumed what I wanted and went on doing my hair and makeup without asking what I wanted. By the time she finished, I burst into tears as it was nothing that I expected. They asked the reason of my tears and I communicated to her what I wanted. She then said she can't do it cuz she doesn't have the tools. Ask me to go to the super market to buy the tool and she will try... Anyways, got the tool and after she finished, it was nothing like what I asked for. Then she told me she can't get he style as my hair texture is different. she also refused to curl the hair extension to match my hair as it cost her more time to fix it later on... Of course now I have two types of different curls on my hair.. How good could it look??? Anyways, by then I already figured out what they are capable of and gave up on my origins expectation. The makeup artist didnt even have a true red lipstick in her kit... I guess all the other Asian girls wants pink or coral type of sweet look for their wedding. And that's what they are capable of. For the following shoot, I just went for typical Asian sweet bride looks as I know they can't do anything outside of the box. And it went ok... Of course.. Nothing unique came out of it. Photos Besides the first set came out ok. Nothing of what I wanted, but the rest of the typical Asian sweet style looks sweet in a typical Asian way. I'm disappointed at their empty promises and lack of communication. They assume we are all the same. And later on I found out a couple of my friends also took the photos there... We are all wearing the same wedding dress and with similar poses. How nice...Anyways, if you are looking for something unique for your wedding photos. Stay away from this one. If you are looking for typical sweet wedding photos, they are ok.

We took both the pre-wedding photos and the wedding day photos with Charlie’s Studio in July 2021 and September 2021 respectively. The service we received from Charlie’s Studio was awesome. During the consultation, Ivy provided us with a lot of great advice. She was attentive, professional and responsive. The photos taken by Richard and his team are very professional. We received many compliments on the photos. I also want to thank Koko and Tina Wu for helping me on my make-up. They are both great make-up artists and very professional. Richard is equally friendly and skilled as a photographer. As someone who is known to have the flexibility of a concrete block, and the facial expression of a retail mannequin, I sincerely believes it takes considerable skill to capture me in a photograph that makes me look even remotely human. Richard and his team photographed my fiance and I for our pre-wedding shoot, which took the entire day. They were surprisingly efficient with every aspect of the process, from the driving route, posing, make up to photography. We were able to take photos at 6-7 different rooms in Hycroft and 4-5 locations at Stanley Park all in the same day. Richard was able to capture the essence of what my fiance and I was looking for, while still adding his own artistic expression. The photos were works of art that looked amazing even prior to the use of any photoshop, thanks to the photographer's skillful use of lighting, angles and reflective surfaces. I have looked at several pre-wedding photographs from my friends who have hired other local photographers, and their photographs look amateurish or photo-shopped beyond recognition compared to Richard's work, which primarily relies on actual photography skills rather than post-edit. The result looks natural, yet elegant, reminiscent of something you might see in a Gallery, unlike some other works I have seen, which probably better belongs at a video game illustration book.

Great studio, professional and easy to work with. Lea, the manager really took care of every details throughout my entire experience. Their dress collection is amazing, they have almost all the style and color available. Their package also includes the dress for photo and on the wedding day. As well as my husband's tuxedo. I really enjoy the photoshoot with Richard, he is very patience, when we were having trouble posing, he never seem to be frustrate. He make the most boring scenery into a creative artistic photo. I consider the price to be reasonable too since I save money from buying a brand new dress and tuxedo.

Not sure how this place got such a high score. All they care about is to get you pay extra for the film. Instead of retouching the photos, they really photoshop them to make them lose their true appearance. Be careful with the hidden fees. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE and save your money!

We did our pre-wedding photoshoot with Charlies Studio this August and the photos came out just the way we wanted. It was a pleasure working with the team, everyone was super friendly and responsive to our requests. Ivy was tremendously helpful in the process of our entire photoshoot related appointments and KoKo, the makeup artist they booked me with, did a wonderful job on the day of our photoshoot. I was very happy with the way my makeup and hair turned out. Our photographer, Richard was also very responsible and creative, he came up with lots of ideas and took lots of photos for us that we were able to see a few during the photoshoot. Richard's assistant photographer, Shawn took some wonderful photos for us as well! We are very happy with the end result and hope to continue our future family portraits etc. with Charlies Studio.
