Needless say you must be ready to spend more than what you paid on the Groupon as all the pictures turn out beautiful and want to buy EVERYTHING!!!! They are very welcoming and professional. I absolutely LOVE the quality of the Magenta pictures. They are super crisp and they also have beautiful filter effects such as snow and twinkle that make the pictures even more magical. They also take multiple pictures and poses and have great lighting. However, I have to say they are way overpriced for extra pictures of a basic photo session and they do not offer any in between options between the basic package of 75$ (30$ with groupon) for one picture and the first package of 295$ for 10 pictures! They should offer a 150$ option for 5 poses and a smaller session (15-20 mins instead of 45mins)- which is only offered for their business adults!! and not for families and children. This would be the perfect in between- which I would love if they added it.

I ordered a custom 6.5x10 image with a frame and was told the turn-around time was going to be up to 20 days. Working in the mall I would frequently go check to see if my order was in about 15 days prior to placing an order. About 2.5 weeks in, the answer I kept getting from the girls behind the counter was “it will be in end of this week or beginning of next week”. This would go on for the next 4 weeks, with no status update as to if my order was being processed or in transit. I decided to attempt to refund my order, being frustrated at this point. My response I got was that they actually “don’t do refunds in person and we could look into it for you”. I was confused as to why I couldn’t get a refund in person even though I paid for this order in person. They gave me a customer service email address, not even a phone number to contact. They also told me that since it was past 3pm that customer service wouldn’t contact me until the following day. Extremely upset with the service at this location especially for spending over $120 on a gift. Won’t be a returning customer!

Kids school photos did not turn out so great, so decided to have better photos taken of the kids for this year. Purchased a groupon and called Magenta Photo at Upper Canada Mall to book an appointment. Called a few times and only got the answering machine. Left a message and was given a call back within 15 minutes. Associate on the phone was friendly, knowledgeable and made accommodations to help book a time that worked with our family’s busy schedule. 4 days before the appointment, I received a follow up call if I received their email about the upcoming appointment and also a few tip reminders on how to make the most of the appointment that I had booked. When we arrived for the appointment, Christine our photographer took time to talk about the goals of the photo shoot and also helped make recommendations on photo style and type of backdrops that would compliment the outfits that I had picked for the kids. Christine was amazing with the kids, and so very friendly and engaging. I had fun just watching her with the kids, but what I was most impressed with was how she was able to capture their joy in EVERY photo she took during the photo shoot. I only expected to get one great photo that I was going to pick and get printed as part of my groupon coupon package, but I did the big upgrade and purchased ALL the digital photos that was taken. How do you say no to all the beautiful shots of your children’s joy and precious smile? Sales person at Magenta said it would take up to 10 days to receive a link to download all the digital photos, but I received an email within 5 days! This is my first photography appointment for my kids, and for a mall photo studio - my expectations was not high- I really just wanted a better picture than the one taken at school. What Christine at Magenta Photos did to make my kids smile and the beautiful photos taken was beyond my expectations. I now have over 40 photos that I can proudly share with our family and friends. Thank you so very much Christine and team at Upper Canada Mall Magenta Photos. You have given me the perfect present that I can share. Would highly recommend!!

We took family Christmas photos at Upper Canada Mall in November. The photographer explained everything, gave clear instructions and was professional and bubbly which made us smile and laugh. The photos looked beautiful and the lighting was good. What we were not impressed with: A bit pricey. The props cater more to children. They need to invest in a better Christmas tree and props for adults. The tree they have is miniature with scanty props. They only had one change room with a very dusty mirror. We felt like the photographer needed an assistant to help her to ensure our pose was good etc. Also the photographer should had taken more photos for us to choose from. Overall, we are please with the service.

We made a purchase in maternity apparel Thymes store in Yorkdale Mall late spring 2018. We have been presented with $35 magenta photoshoot certificate with claimed value of $175 that expires in October 2018. We booked an appointment for 2PM August 19,2018 at Fairview Mall location. Upon the arrival we could see that you have three packages available with the least (MINI) one starting $150 which includes 15 minutes photosoot and 5 photos. Your representatives refused to honor the claimed value of the certificate ($175) even though the certificate is still valid (expiration date not reached). They discussed it with themanager over the phone and refused to provide 5 photos with MINI package that we qualified for. But offered only one photo, of a questionable quality by the way, instead. They disappointed me but more importantly they disappointed my pregnant wife with this action. We are very unhappy with the dishonesty of the company or the decision-making people who brought this stress to my expecting wife and her baby. I believe that it wouldn't ruin the financial welfare of your company if the employees would honor the certificate as they should have been. November update: I brought the above facts to the attention of the customer support but no-one even replied back to my complaint....

A good place to do your photos. My family (with 2 small children) did a photo session end of March. The staff were helpful, and did a good job at entertaining the kids. We wanted to do just few photos, but end up liking a lot of photos and buying a package. We did request alterations/adjustments to a single photo, and it was missed. Once we reached out to them, they provided a photo with that alteration as we wanted. Considering that all this happened during COVID pandemic, we are happy with the quality of work.

It felt like a full time commitment to nag them to get what we payed for. The customer service at the head office is non existent. Not using this company again a rip off for the price and the services you get. Don’t recommend them.

Hire professional photographer and get quality images for fair price.

I went to Magenta in Newmarket mall with my 2 kids. My experience was not pleasant at all. The approach of the staff was a pure sales tactic. The photographer was not listening to what I wanted and I had to repeat my request several times before she made a reaction that she actually heard me. The pricing was explained in a confused way however once the pictures were taken and some papers were signed, a list of the pricing packages were shown to you which very well explained how much you have to pay. The pictures turn out ok however not worth the 500 I paid for 15 pictures which I could have done elsewhere with a much better price. Once I paid, they explained that my pictures will be ready in 3 weeks and then I can come and pick them up. My experience was: I felt used and angry after the session and after I saw the pictures. Never going back again and will tell everyone I know NOT to go there.

We had our daughter’s newborn photos done in June 2018, and her first Christmas photos done today (December 2018). We had the same photographer both times. Deanna is awesome! She is very knowledgeable, gives easy to follow instructions, and worked so well with my daughter when she was 1 week old and 6 months old. We LOVE our photos! One of them is hanging above our tv on a large canvas!

I had 4 session done at Magenta Newmarket. I loved it before, however they don't have good services anymore. Last session they had to re do it as there weren't any good pictures I could pick. There were some lighting issues. I have stopped going there, not worth the money.

We had our photo session today. Our photographer was Deanna. The photo shoot was very professional and the resulting photographs were of excellent quality. Later on, Payton took ample time to show us through the selection package. Overall very satisfied with the experience.

We had the best experience taking family photos at Magenta Newmarket! Keelan and Peyton were so professional and kind to work with. We brought 2 very rowdy dogs with us and they were so patient and treated them like royalty. Even my partner who hates getting photos done had a great time because of how relaxed and nice Keelan and Petyon were. The photos turned out so beautiful. Very welcoming environment while still being productive and prefestional! The women were very nice and made posing for photos very simple and fun. My photographer made sure that I had a wide variety of photos to choose from, all of which were very personalized. We go there every year for unique school photos and plan to continue going in the future!
