PS: I noticed some very negative reviews relating to the pandemic, and just grow up, if you don't care a about safety, well you do you, but don't expect a professional business to tell someone to go to a unsafe event just so you can have your photos.

I had the BEST experience at Applehead Studio! My friend and I went to get our grad photos done here and it was such a fun and positive experience. Liam is a fantastic photographer and completely captured the laughter and joy of the moment. The photos were so beautiful (we're obsessed with them)! Applehead was also extremely quick getting our photos to us to make our final selection. Their turnover rate after the final selection was made was also incredibly fast! Overall, an amazing business that has such a fun and welcoming atmosphere – I would recommend this studio to everyone!

We've been lucky enough to have photos taken by Liam and Steph three times now. As someone who self declares as un-photogenic (possibly photo-phobic), they made every experience natural and fun. Whether Steph is climbing into a tree to get the best shot, or they're standing waist deep in the Atlantic in late October, Applehead will go to the extreme to capture your best moments. It was such a pleasure working with them for our wedding - I couldn't imagine having had anyone else there, and we get compliments on the photos every day. Honestly, we look for excuses to come back now and work with them again - because it's like hanging out with friends who give you the greatest keepsake of each visit.

There simply aren’t enough stars on the page. We didn’t even meet with any other photographers. Upon sitting down with Liam and Steph, we instantly fell in love – had to have them – scheduled the date of our wedding around the only date that worked with them for the rest of the year. One of the biggest pieces of advice anyone can give you on choosing a photographer is to pick one not just because they take killer photos (and we mean they really are killer) but because you connect with them. They’re down to earth, accommodating, willing to move heaven and earth, and ultimately lower your stress level. You don’t have to worry about ensuring they capture what you want – they know what you want captured before it even happens. They’re constantly challenging creativity itself. Aside from all of that we got a box of the most gorgeous wedding photos known to man. They give you the opportunity to remember the day from start to finish so all you have to do is enjoy it. The worst part of using Applehead as your photographers will be trying to narrow down what photos to put on the wall! We will never get tired of people telling us that our wedding photos are the best they have ever seen. Liam and Steph are too legit to quit and the biggest mistake someone could make when choosing a photographer is not choosing Applehead Studios.

I booked Applehead for my wedding (September 18th, 2021) thinking they would capture our special day. Liam (one of the photographers and I think owners) confirmed two days before that Ash and Rich would be at the venue for 4:00pm. Sadly, 4:30pm came around and they still were not there. After many calls, Liam answered and said "They aren't coming. We've been trying to contact you from 3 to 11 last night!". Heart broken, I passed the phone to my sister. He was unapologetic to say the least. He said that Ash and Rich were exposed to COVID the day before shooting another venue and they weren't wearing masks. Liam made know effort to contact me via my personal phone or email. He also did not contact the venue to let them no or my partner's number. I would never recommend Applehead. Horrible service. I understand we are in a pandemic, but if I knew they weren't coming I could have scrambled to find someone else.

We planned our wedding from Calgary, and photographer was first on our list. It took me about 15 seconds after looking at the Applehead Wedding portfolio online before I was hooked. I told my husband "They have to shoot our wedding". For almost 18 months Liam and I bantered back and forth via email. When I finally got to meet him it was like we were old friends catching up. It was such a relief to know (even before seeing a single shot) that we'd chosen the right guys for the job. I kid you not when I say, that Liam and Steph instantly became part of the family on our wedding day. Steph helped with the millions of buttons on my dress when my Maid of Honour's manicure started chipping. I think she even carried our two your old son to the car! Liam captured my husband's tears and even took a little verbal abuse for it. Later he told me it was worth it because he knew that the bride would never forgive him if he didn't get that rare moment on camera. He was right, to this day, it is still one of my most favorite captured memories of that our wedding day. All of the personal anecdotes asides, their level of talent, artistic flare, professionalism, respect and damn right lovable East Coast charm is what makes them worthy of their title "Best Halifax Wedding Photographers". My guests still talk about how much fun they were to be around and how easy it was for them to "be themselves" even though they knew there were cameras lurking in the background. They blended in and captured moments we didn't even know were happening. Every shot we asked for, we got, and with a little of the Applehead flare to make every single one of out photos worthy of a frame and tear. The dress someday will not fit, the flowers will wilt and die, no one will remember the food...but the photos...the photos you have for life and Applehead will deliver timeless, classic, breathtaking photos that you can have for eternity. Photos are tangible memories, if you want them to be perfect, then it has to be Applehead.

My husband and I got married July 11, 2015. Having a great photographer was one of my main priorities for my wedding and after reading some reviews and checking out their website, I decided to book with Appleheads. From the very first meeting, both Liam and Steph were so easy going and laid back yet super professional. It's easy to see that both of them are genuinely passionate and excited about the work that they do. Liam was always easy to get a hold of to answer any of my questions prior to the wedding and was able to suggest a location for our photo shoot (which I absolutely loved). I can be a pretty shy person so I was nervous that I would feel uncomfortable or awkward at times during the photos but Liam and Steph have a way of making you feel relaxed and comfortable. I had so much fun working with them, looking back at our photos we were laughing in so many pictures. Liam and Steph felt like friends that day, they blended in so easily and made everyone feel at ease. The photos felt so effortless (for us) yet came out so beautifully. Liam and Steph decided to try out a new idea with our wedding - they had every guest pop in to their studio to get a picture of them dancing. The end result was a 6 foot picture with 111 people dancing to "shake it off". I absolutely love the picture and love that I will have this amazing keepsake for years to come. Liam and Steph stayed until the very end of the night so we not only have beautiful photos from getting ready, the ceremony and dinner but we have so many fun pictures of our friends and family dancing and partying the night away. I honestly could not have asked for better photographers and I am so thrilled with our wedding photos. I would recommend Applehead Studios to anyone and everyone :)

I first met Liam 7 years ago at a fashion shoot; since then I have been a HUGE fan of his work. When my husband and I got engaged I knew I wanted Liam and Steph to shoot our wedding. We booked them before we even had a venue; we planned our day around their availability. Applehead was our first decision, and by far the best decision we had made in planning for our big day. When we first got engaged, there were two main priorities for our big day - our photographer, and our wedding band. My husband had been an admirer of Applehead's work for the last couple of years, and once I saw their work I knew they were the only people I would trust capturing our day the way we wanted it. We based our wedding day around their availability, and after our day and seeing our photos - I am SO thankful we did that. What I feel makes Applehead unique from other wedding photographers is that they capture your day the as it happens - with the most amazing candid photos and all done in a manner that they comfortably fit into the background of our special day. As a bride, I felt amazingly comfortable with them around, and they never forced me into awkward poses I wasn't comfortable with and consistently reminded me "this is your day, if you need us, whatever you need, just yell." Our photos were so natural and captured what I felt is the essence of every wedding - the genuine love that myself and my husband have for each other. Nothing felt forced, or fake, or posed - exactly the way it should be. When viewed, each of our photos they captured allude an emotion - whether that be laughter, tears, or smiles - that remind you of that moment in the day (and as a bride, the day is such a blur that you forget so much that happened!) Since our day in October, I frequently look at photographs from other weddings and think they look so posed, or like a copy of a Pinterest board. Our wedding photos are unique, candid, SO FULL of love and a clear reminder of how unbelievably fun and exciting our day was. I am so thankful I made them a priority for our wedding. And if you want something out of the box, and interesting, and a couple of really fun people - you can't go wrong. Anyone can take wedding photos, but not everyone can capture the emotion and love that is so much more a part of the day and have it convey so naturally through photographs. I can't thank them enough for being a part of the best day of our lives!!!!

We woke up on the morning of our wedding day to a downpour of rain, and one of the first text messages I read was from Liam - he just wanted to let me know that we were going to have the best day ever, no matter the weather. It was at that point that I was absolutely certain that we had made the right decision in hiring Applehead Studio to photograph our wedding. Liam and Steph instantly fit in with our friends and family, and made everyone forget that they had (multiple) cameras strapped to them! We never felt like we were posing either, which was really important to us. They captured the best moments of the day, and treated us like their best friends - we didn't want them to leave at the end of the night. Our photos are spectacular. We have put them on canvas, ordered massive prints from Applehead and purchased a photo album - there is nothing that we haven't been happy with. I cannot possibly say enough good things about Applehead. Liam and Steph are unfailingly professional, absurdly talented and ridiculously fun. They traveled to Pittsburgh for a long weekend to shoot our wedding, and were incredible additions to our wedding party. They worked tirelessly, scouting locations on Thursday and Friday, shooting the rehearsal, the trip to Mt. Washington, and the rehearsal dinner, and then were back at it for a VERY full day on Saturday for the wedding. Their instincts are impeccable, and they have this remarkable control over their shoots without inserting themselves into the action. You can really just say "Do you thing," and know that the results will be amazing. Their work speaks for itself, but what it doesn't speak to is just how wonderful Liam and Steph are to work with. They fit in seamlessly with our friends, family and guests, and they really made our weekend that much more fun just by being awesome. They are expert photographers and expert wedding guests. In fact, one of our bridesmaids liked them so much that she hired them to shoot her own wedding in Miami in April 2016 (can't wait to see you guys!) After years, literally 5 of them, admiring Liam & Steph's work, our experience with them was every bit as incredible as we hoped. Despite the fact that they had just the two of us to work with instead of a full wedding party complete with guests, we have an astounding assortment of beautiful, unique, creative & fresh shots that will allow us to share our love for each other and the island of Maui with all our family & friends. We spent not just one day together, but ten long ones (14+ hours each). We were often up at 6:00am, or earlier, adventuring from sea level to 10,023 feet and not back to the hotel until 10:00pm or later and not once did these two disappoint - they were up for anything. We barely knew each other beforehand, but the fun and friendship we created together will always be such a great part of our wedding story. These cats can keep a Secret Elopement Secret, make you feel comfortable in front of a camera even when you usually aren't, and happily encourage your wedding day whims (the bride hiking a tropical rainforest in leather boots and a white dress, anyone?) When we decided to get married in a hot air balloon, our wedding planner gave us a choice of photographers, but I knew Applehead's reputation well enough that it wasn't even a question. Liam, Steph, Ash & Rich made our wedding so much more magical that I ever would have dreamed. We are not typically comfortable in front of a camera. Good news for us, that didn't seem to matter! We probably spent a total of 5 minutes "posing" for photos - everything else was candid and perfectly captured the joy of the day. Our photos are a perfect mix of solo shots (we eloped) with enough pictures of the rest of the gang that we'll remember every detail of that day! Getting our photos back (quickly!) was like a trip down memory lane. They captured the tiniest details that we didn't even remember from the day. Our wedding video is so dreamy and the perfect way to show our families and friends who weren't in attendance what the day was really like. They're incredibly flexible. They had no problem being on call for a 3pm go/no-go decision, and then seemed happy to chase our balloon all over the Valley as we floated along! Plus, when you consider that they were our only wedding guests, we can't think of anyone more fun to spend an evening with! These people are the definition of badass.

Liam and Steph spent a week with us for our wedding down south. It was an incredible trip with our closest friends and family. Liam and Steph were everywhere and captured not just the moments but the atmosphere of the trip. They just became part of the party and captured everything from the big moments to small interactions. Going through the pictures a year later with a group of friends who were on the trip, we spent a good few hours just laughing an reliving the trip. The pictures are incredible, they are both so easy to work with. You can give them direction if you want specific shots but, honestly they are so damn good at this you are better to just let them do their thing and they will come back with images and perspectives that will leave you floored. I recommend them every chance I get.

They came highly recommended to us by friends and family who has worked with them for their weddings.I quickly fee in love with their work and was very excited when I found out they were available on our wedding date. They did not disappoint. When we met before the wedding I let them know that I wanted the wedding to be focused on friends, family and guns! Yes guns. My husband is a competitive shooter and I wanted to incorporate that into our photos. When Liam and Steph say they have an idea you don't hesitate you just do. Sadly I am writing this review with a heavy heart. My daughters wedding booked for this August has been cancelled. Last year 5 months before Covid every detail was in place and we were ready to celebrate a wonder day. Then Covid came. The wedding and all the details were rescheduled for a year, enough time we thought. In January the difficult decision was made to completely cancel. The majority of guests were to come from Ontario a task that is now impossible with strict travel and quarantine protocols here at home. My daughter lives in Ontario works as a nurse and wanted a Nova Scotia wedding. All the cancellations we had to make, and they were a lot,have been gracious, thoughtful and kind. Yes she lost her deposits for everything booked and that was completely expected and understandable. These were non refundable deposits. Applehead however has requested the non refundable deposit plus 50% of the agreed fee. It’s in their contract. No one could predict a global pandemic and the quarantine restrictions, cancelling was not on a whim. Cancellation was done with 8 months notice. Covid has been difficult for us all including small business, I get that. Applehead you may believe it is your “right” to demand the 50% as defined in your contract, but sometimes in life it is beholden to DO what is right . After all a wedding is an affair of the heart not the head.

Liam came highly recommended to me and did not disappoint. Was able to get in for head shots next day and process was exactly as described. In and done in a few minutes. I hate having my picture taken, but Liam made this a great experience. Super comfortable, enough direction (not the crazy head tilting, humans cannot move this way type stuff) and the results were excellent. I ended up with a bunch of photos to choose from which was easy with the online gallery. Picked my photo, photo was sent to me in full size, touched up, and no restrictions on use. Very happy, will recommend Applehead to everyone I can.

Make this the last review you read, save the countless hours of researching wedding photographers and just book Applehead, if they're not available for your date, change your date... That's what we did and it was completely worth it. My wife had been following them for years and was dead set on having them shoot our wedding, I needed a little bit of convincing, but man am I glad she won me over. Liam and Steph absolutely killed it. From meeting us out on the golf course at 10am right to the last shot taken (sometime between 12-1AM) these two were a pleasure to work with. I really felt (and the pictures speak to it) that they go out of their way to get the shots that a "normal" wedding photographer wouldn't get. The emotion and hilarity captured along with our traditional family shots were stunning. Also super impressed with the post production work, within a day or two they were sending us teasers and then the whole lot came way ahead of schedule. They also did a few custom editing/touch ups on certain pictures we wanted to use. These two enjoy what they do, have fun with it, and are true professionals. Any future customers to Applehead photography: please read!!! As many of you all know, 2021 hasn’t started out the way any of us have planned and the pandemic is continuing on with very little to no hope on when restrictions on gatherings and events will be loosened. As all of you Nova Scotians know, they have introduced a mandatory 14 day isolation for any out of province visitors. Myself and my fiancé had planned our dream Nova Scotia wedding back in the early months of 2019 when no one had even an idea of a pandemic. I was disappointed when I learned in 2020 that this would not be happened that summer. We are from Ontario and the mandatory quarantine is not possible. As such we moved our dates to the following summer with a hopeful attitude that 2021 would be better. Applehead accommodated the request and we rebooked with them. In early January we looked at the world and realized once again that our dream wedding would not be happening. Being a front line worker with multiple friends who are also front line workers we are unable to isolate for 14 days upon arriving to Nova Scotia. With all this information we regretfully cancelled our wedding all together (8.5 months in advance) and are waiting for the world to get back to some sense of normalcy. Dealing with almost each of our vendors was amazing and they were understanding of our out of the normal need to cancel: except Applehead. Despite having already paid 500$ for a deposit, Applehead insisted we pay 50% of our cost for photography as per contract. I was shocked and upset obviously, however Liam refused to be accommodating, compassionate or understanding of a very special circumstance. I went to the better business Bureau and filed a complaint which he refused to respond to on the site and emailed me personally to say he wants 50% and not just the deposit. Altogether myself and my fiancé paid Liam 2100$ for him corresponding through email, not a single picture taken and I had booked and cancelled their photographers rooms. I suppose I am also partially to blame in all this because I excitedly signed a contract not ever imagining a pandemic and a mandatory isolation would cause me to cancel my wedding. As for Liam, after responding that I would be writing a review accordingly he said he would be responding accordingly based on email communication between us with total transparency. So for total transparency Liam: you were professional through email, however your total lack of compassion and understanding is what I want potential customers to be aware of. If I would have read just one review like this before signing my contract I would have went with one of the many other top rated photographers in Nova Scotia.

My husband and I hired Applehead to photograph our wedding this summer and have been blown away every step of the way. Liam and Steph are extremely personable, flexible and open minded. When we first met with them to decide if we would hire them, my husband had to drop me off and find parking, he told me after we left that he knew the second he walked in I had already decided, and he was right. When I walked into the studio and shook their hands I was immediately at ease, and in love with their laid back style, for me it was a no brainer we had to have them! Throughout the morning of the wedding there were a few posed shots, but mostly they took photos in the moment of everyone getting ready, and it was lovely to not have the pressure. Liam and Steph were creative, and extremely flexible on the day of the wedding and never hesitated to accommodate a request by us or our guests. They are professional when shooting, but more importantly they were friendly and so much fun! Jon and I are thrilled they were a part of our big day and if you have the chance to hire them, don't hesitate!

Our wedding was recently photographed by Ash & Rich from Applehead studios and I cannot say enough great things. From the second we met them, their energy was so infectious and they totally put us at ease. The candid shots of our friends and family from the ceremony go above and beyond everything we could have imagined. We had our two young daughters at the ceremony with us, and they were so amazing with them, and we’re able to get some amazing moments we will cherish forever. After the ceremony they took us out through Wolfville to take some photos of just my husband and I, and we are completely blown away by the results. It was a freezing cold evening, but they had us laughing through the whole thing and we’re so great about any requests we may have had. I can honestly say that if you are lucky enough to have the opportunity for Liam and Steph to photograph your wedding, as they did ours, then book them immediately. On a day when there are so many details to fuss over, you can take photography off your wedding planning list and not even think about it until the glorious photos show up in your inbox. They become not only "the photographer", but your friends in the process, and by the time all is said and done they'll get some amazingly candid shots of you, and your family and friends without anyone realizing they are even there taking photos. You won't stand around posing for hours, but through their skill and talent they manage to get photos which you'll cherish for years. Liam did a university graduation photo session with my son and created fantastic photographs. Since my son is graduating with a math degree, we wanted to do something unique by using a blackboard with math calculations and Liam enthusiastically encouraged us to go with this plan. He provided a blackboard backdrop and gave us the time we needed to write all the formulas and equations, and then he did his magic! He set up such a comfortable and fun environment that my son, who is not usually a fan of posing for pictures, was at ease and Liam captured many natural expressions ranging from a serious look to great smiles. Liam went above and beyond our expectations. We LOVE the pictures...and will for years to come.

I don't even know where to start.... The experience of having Liam & Steph (our paparazzi, as they were called by other guests at our resort)) shoot our wedding in Mexico was more than I could have ever hoped! We were referred to them by a friend and after seeing Applehead's website I knew I had to have them shoot our wedding. I sent them an email and inquired about having them come to Mexico, I was a little nervous seeing as we are from Alberta and would not have a chance to meet with them before hand. The response was prompt and Liam immediately put any fears I had to rest! They spent the entire week with our group and honestly I don't think it took any time before they just fit right in! So easy to be around and talk to and Liam is hilarious! My laugh lines definitely deepened that week! Even during our 6am Shoot! I couldn't wait to see the finished product and all I can say is WOW! We got married on Oct 6 of this year and had so many issues leading up to our big day. We were planning a wedding for NB from Calgary AB and it didn’t prove to be easy. With vendors cancelling and plans not lining up how we’d hoped. It was a little stressful and not how we had hoped planning our big day would go. Steph&Liam were the first thing we booked after getting engaged and anything going wrong with that was our biggest fear. If only we knew we had NOTHING to worry about. They were flawless. They were responsive, professional, and even helped with DJ recommendations. We laughed every time we heard from them and they made us feel totally at ease. On the day of the wedding they totally blended in, they introduced themselves to everyone they met, they had us in a deep belly laughter every other moment and truly perfected our day. They also scouted out gorgeous spots along the way for us to do our photos. They were professional and always responsive with communication. They shoot our family photos every year, So we get to catch up with Liam, he is amazing, and so wonderful with my kids and patient. They blame you for their lack of communication about closure dates for covid and do not even have the decency to apologize.
