REVIEWS OF Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé National Park (provincial park) IN Percé

Stunning! I would highly recommend the Boat tour! To get on the island its an extra 8.50$ but worth it! Start with the "Le Mousse" trail up to the bird and finish with "Roy" trail that is facing the ocean! Its the easiest way to see everything and its absolutly amazing.

Ben

Breathtaking views and love the smell of the ocean!

Rebekah Hwang

Amazing experience. Must do if you're in Percé

Edi Patricia Nava Quintero

Very nice hike, not too hard, not too long. You got the chance to see wildlife as well which is pretty unique. Well see the Fou the bassan colony and some harbor seal it was pretty nice. The view is very nice too. I highly recommend this if you are passing by. There is some historic information about the former people who lived there back in the days.

Fadi Wehbe

Beautiful!!! But BEWARE to those with motion sickness. The 45 minutes boat right is extremely rough. I almost didn't make it, but when we did, it was all worth it. Great hike and beautiful scenery.

Pavlo Kalyta

Enjoyed the hike there. We took the shorter trail to reach the view point and on the way back, we took the longer trail that consists of stairs and it was easier to climb down

Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé is located at the end of the Gaspé peninsula, it composed of Bonaventure Island the majestic Percé Rock, the tourist emblem of Quebec. Its famous colony of northern gannets, the third largest colony and most accessible in the world make it a must-see destination, and there are some buildings of former islander's homes to witness the life once there of the last century. Taking the cruise from perce quai to circle the Rock and to the island. There are 4 hiking trails, the simple way is hiking to the Colony where the Gannett stay, then walk 5 minutes to the Lookout tower(you can see it standing over the cliffs when on the cruise), then continue hiking to the dock, it would take 2.5 to 3 hours, observing and hiking, you can see seals in the water and on rocks, and you can observe the Rock from different angles and perspectives. The northern gannet colony has 116,000 birds, a must see! The park opens from May 31 to October 11. Daily fee is 9 dollars per adult, kids under 17 are free.

Updated : Last ferry leaves at 5 pm from the island. If you want to explore the whole island then it's recommended to catch the first ferry.

Steven McGivern

Beautiful scenery, the trails are easy to do.

Olivier Zyngier

this is a nice place to go if you like hiking and history of ( la roche percé ) nice hiking site, food is a bit expensive, bting your own food!

Georgin Varghese

Great place for hiking and bird watching.

Maurizio Covatta

Beautiful and outstanding place! This is a must to visit if you come to Gaspesie region.

Robert Wolf

Amazing views. Visit the place. Lots of independent hotel/ motels, shop for pricing. Most restaurants close by 8. Get your dinner by the.

Katya Planets

Watching the Gannets was very much fun, the hiking there was amazing, make sure to spend all your day there????

Abhi

Man, nothing beats seeing all those fou du bassin from up close, highly recommend the hike chemin du Roy for the beautiful view too!

Bryan Cngan

Watching the Gannet is amazing however the boat ride to get there is one hour and the hike is 1 to two hours. Once you see the Gannet there is tons of flies and the smell was overwhelming. once you include the boat ride and entry to the park it is $50 per person.

Mehnaz A Bangash

It is a good place to see lots of birds and a ton of them! Though the trails are pretty banal as you got nothing to see as you take the ones that passes inside the island. As you get on the edge you see tons of birds and it gets interedting. Take the cruise that circle around the island to get there it is worth the trip.

Lisa Elminowski

Before you purchase tickets to the park, beware that they will not refund your tickets even if the ferry is not available. We purchased our tickets in advance as was recommended but were disappointed to find that on the day of our visit all the ferries were cancelled due to inclement weather. Fair enough, but to our surprise SEPAQ refused to refund our tickets under any circumstances — even though they are only valid for one day and it is impossible for us to get to the island! It's basically a scam. I'm sure the island is beautiful and I was really looking forward to seeing the gannet colony but this is not right. EDIT: Fortunately, we were able to go back the day after and they let us use our tickets from the previous day. But if we had not been able to go we would have been out 40$. Even though everything worked out in the end I still don't think it's a proper business practice. I would otherwise give a 5 star rating for the wonderful experience but taking this into account it gets 4 stars.

Sheila Southon

I did the "coloniales" trail. The trail was easy and not that memorable. There were 2 washroom pit stops on the way. Once you get to the top, you're greeted by a sea of birds.

David Laflamme

Skip the visit and hike. Not as great as publicized. Much better places around gaspe to spend a day

Alexander Cee

A nice park to visit. The boat ride from Perce was great with a circle around the Rock and a circle around the island. Saw lots of birds and seals. On the island the Northern Gannets were spectacular to see. Thousands of them. Trail was easy to moderate for all ages.

Anastasia S

Good place for hiking with nice view. Bring your hiking shoes and water which is expensive there.

Robin Reji

I loved how this park offers a variety of trails that all go to and from the Gannett colony (the island's best attraction), thus allowing visitors to pick a route that matches the time they have to spend on the island/physical ability. Trails are well-kept and well-marked. Commodities are abundant and there even seemed to be more paths in development. All trails are relatively easy and the views are great. Definitely worth a stop.

jaehyuk koo

Fun hike to the Fou de Bassan via le Colonie - one hour long

Guilherme D. Garcia

Wonderful place to visit Percé could be very crowded and "touristic " sometimes.

Gaëtan Trellu

This amazing place you should visit at least once in your life!

William Cantin

Great hike.

Marc Gautreau

Great experience watching the migrating birds nest around the island.

Joey Rene

The Roy hiking trail is very nice, and of course seeing the northern gannets at the end of the trail. If you're in the Gaspésie region it's pretty much a must to visit. The downside: the ferry ride is almost an hour, and they aren't shy to pack the boat like sardines during Covid times. Try to go off peak hours and avoid the first ferry to the island at 8:45.

Conta N

Beautiful place to visit Calm trails to do and amazing views

Elchikaah Haly

A great island to visit with easy hiking trails. Lots of wildlife on the island including gannet colonies, owls, and foxes. Can also spot whales from the island. I highly recommend visiting!

Manthan Makwana

Beautiful place. Lots of birds, gannetts, cormorans, etc. Short cruise to get there (i recommend to be one that goes around the island. Once on the island, several hikes available. The chemin du roi gets you very close to the birds. Plan on at least 3 to 4 hours on the island

Ahcene AOUICHE

great walks and views in 4 different trails, + seeing the gannets is a big asset, Rocher Percé is nice too. $42 for the boat ride per adult, $20 per kid. $9 per adult for the park, free if < 18.

Jinbon Lau

The hiking trails are great! Especially the one along the coast where we saw seals and a whale and of course the thousands of gannets. Really a unique experience ! A must in the region.

Moy Aarón Salazar

Truly a wonderful place to visit, to avid walkers or likers of nature all alike!!

Michael Z

Make sure you spare a full day for the trip to the Bonaventure Island. The place is a gem! Take the morning boat, as you need 4-5 hours on the island to truly enjoy it.

Nicole

Awesome spot for hiking. The views are breathtaking and the bird spot is amazing!

Ram Selvarajah

A Canadian bucket list location, Percé Rock is best seen as you cruise to Île-Bonaventure from the Village of Percé. Once you land you start ascending towards various lookout points. You can hike to the other side of the island to see (and hear) one of the largest colonies of Northern gannets in the world, with 51,700 pairs in 2011. The hike is medium level of difficulty but there is a clearly marked trail and a small restaurant to sit and have a cool drink or a snack.

Margarita Ibbott (DownshiftingPRO)

Beautiful setting. Lots of birds, gannetts, cormorans, etc. Short cruise to get there (i recommend tbe one that goes around the island. Once on the island, several hikes available, none too strenous. The chemin du roi gets you very close to the birds. Plan on soe2ndinf at least 3 to 4 hours on the island.

Barry

Absolutely beautiful trails, views, and interpretation centres. Stay to the right side of the boat to get the best view of the seals as you come around the island! And bring your own snacks and lots of water, as there is only one cafe at the dock, and it is quite expensive.

Laurentiu Mariuta

One of the most beautiful and relaxing places I've been to in a long time! Great to see how people lived many years ago. Don't need to travel outside of Canada when we have these natural beauties in our own backyard! Go... You will regret it if you don't!

Véronique Arseneau

Wonderful and unforgettable!!! Amazing experience on the boat tour to île Bonaventure et du rocher percé. We came across a lot of whales which doubled the excitement along with the crashing waves of the sea that made us all wet.

Heratch Almajian

Be prepared for a rocky hike of at least 6km of you want to see the gannet colony. Longer hikes are beautiful too and well kept.

Cristian T.

Its a beautiful place reserve natural, from species of. Birds macaereux tipical of percé, you.! Can go visit in a boat le helicopeter tour

Lior Askal

The Roy hiking trail (~10K )was beautiful. This tour is a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it.

Rui Zhao

The Park itself is beautiful, a healthy ecosystem with an abundance of wildlife and excellent wildlife trails. However the entry and exit to the park leaves much to be desired. There is no organisation, people are herded together after they come off the boat and not allowed to enter the park until they all get a lecture. The lecture is not very useful since the trail maps are there to read and treating the trails, flora and fauna with respect is the usual practice in a natural park. Then there is a crush to go through the booth and pay and you are finally allowed to be in the park. On attempting to leave, people wander down to the dock to wait for a scheduled boat, but there is no orderly line so you hang around. Then the boat comes and only a few people can fit on it, and there is a wild rush for the ramp. Then all the people who are lined up on the ramp waiting find that the next boat comes to another ramp and they are then at the back of the line and miss the next boat. Some people even missed 3 boats. There was no communication to the people about how soon another boat would come, or about how many people it would hold, and where to line up. Unfortunately, a beautiful day in the park marred by a very unpleasant experience at the end.

Oscar Frohlich

Beautiful park with beautiful nature. Must see! Enjoy bird watching there and whales while getting there.

Ghina Besbes

The island has only one access which you need to ride the boat which about $40 each. Takes about 45 mins one way. If you wanna do the entire tour of the island you need about the whole day. Opened around 10 i think and last boat will be 4pm. Don’t be late or else ull spend the night there. Nobody lives there I think except for the birds and wildlife... it was a trip of a lifetime

daniel zhang

Ferry to the island toured both sides of Percé Rock before a full tour around the island before docking. Great to see Bonaventure from a water perspective before hiking the island. We enjoyed the hike very much. We didn't find the trail we took difficult at all. I am not a bird guy but it was very interesting. So many birds and they don't get along very well. Not an easy life being a gannett!

Donald Levesque

The tour to get there is a nice extra as they get us closer to the Rocher Percé and the borders of the Bonaventure island. Watching all fauna around (birds, seals) is very breathtaking. We even get to see some killer whales (I think it was them, but I'm not sure). On the island, there's a small restaurant which is convenient if you don't have a snack ready. The trails are a bit ordinary, but depending on the ones you take, you'll get better views. All trails lead to a close-up of a spectacular gannets gathering, and the birds seem okay with humans presence! My only grip is that waiting for a boat to return to the continent might take a while.

Fred Marier

You will never realize how it is awesome until you see it for yourself. I really enjoyed eveything in Percé.

Veronique Proulx

Take the boat tour at 9:00am and get off the island, hike it and catch the 2:00pm boat back. Bring a backpack with water, food and toilet paper.

Adriana M

It's a place when you can walk and see the gannet and seals. There isn't electricity, potable water. You can find a restaurant, but in June 2021 it's still close due restrictions. You can buy sandwich and cakes. It's expensive, so I recommend to buy some snacks or sandwich in Perce. The bathrooms are ecologic, no water to clean your hands only hand sanitizer. I recommend to go early and stay there around 2 or 4 hours. The schedule of the boat to return is: 12:30 pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00 pm.

Mathieu Tremblay

Beautiful walking trails. Kids had a blast

Eric P

Beautiful place

Brian Kalte

Quaint town and absolutely stunning scenery. We weren't able to get to Perce Rock because there weren't any boats available and it was high tide, but we walked down to the beach and got as close as we could. Definitely worth a visit, but we were happy we stayed in Gaspé so we'd be closer to Parc National Forillon.

Andrew Bossé

Best Quebec experience!

David Mark

The Gannet is an experience to live (even if you are not a big birds fan). We had the chance to see a lot of seals! The meadows are colorful!

Nikki May

Beautiful place, informative boat tour, nice hiking trails on the island, and a large bird refuge. We took half a day to explore the island, it was a wonderful experience. The bird refuge was very impressive in size and density.
